Article Use of a novel body mandibular plane (mental foramen-protuberance menti) in analyzing mandibular asymmetry compared with conventional border mandibular plane Objectives: To compare a novel body mandibular horizontal plane (mental foramen-protuberance menti; Body-MHP) with the conventional border mandibular horizontal plane (gonion-menton [Me]; Border-MHP) to assess mandibular body inclination and dental compensation of skeletal Class III patients with and without facial asymmetry.Materials and Methods: Retrospective data obtained from diagnostic cone-beam computed tomography of 90 skeletal Class III patients (mean age, 21.67 6 2.93 years; range, 15.0-30.6 years) were divided into symmetry (n = 30) and asymmetry groups (n = 60). The asymmetry group was subdivided into roll (n = 30) and non-roll types (n = 30). The differences in body inclination and dental measurements (distance and angle) according to two mandibular planes (Body-MHP and Border-MHP) were assessed in the groups and subgroups.Results: Mandibular body inclinations relative to the Body-MHP were not different in the roll-type asymmetric mandible between the sides, while those relative to the Border-MHP were different (P , .001). For the mandibular first molar positions relative to the Border-MHP, the differences in vertical distance between the sides were undermeasured and the inclination differences were overmeasured when compared relative to the Body-MHP.Conclusions: The Body-MHP demonstrated better bilateral similarity in body inclination compared with the Border-MHP in patients with roll-type facial asymmetry. The novel body mandibular plane ensures an accurate diagnosis for tooth movement and jaw surgery, particularly in the roll-type asymmetric mandible. (Angle Orthod. 2023;93:195-204.) Article A Korean male with Kleefstra syndrome presented with micropenis Kleefstra syndrome is caused by chromosome 9q34.3 deletion or heterozygous mutations in the euchromatin histone methyl transferase 1 (EHMT1) gene. It can be accompanied by intellectual disability, distinctive facial features, microcephaly, psychiatric disorders, hypotonia in childhood, hearing loss, heart defects, renal defects, epilepsy, speech anomalies, and obesity. Furthermore, genital anomalies are present in 30%- 40% of male patients with Kleefstra syndrome, but their mechanisms have not been elucidated. Herein, we report a patient with Kleefstra syndrome presenting with micropenis. The patient was transferred to Kyungpook National University Children's Hospital for management of imperforate anus on the day of birth. Physical examination revealed micropenis with stretched penile length of 0.9 cm and facial dysmorphisms, including hypertelorism and anteverted nares. Chromosomal microarray revealed 424-kb heterozygous deletion at chromosome 9q34.3 ( arr[hg19] 9q34.3 (140,234,315-140,659,055)x1). Among the involved main OMIM genes, phenotypically relevant genes were EHMT1 and NSMF. Endocrinological investigation showed low basal gonadotropin and testosterone levels. Anterior pituitary hormones and steroid hormone levels were in the normal range. Testicular function was normal based on human chorionic gonadotropin stimulation test. The patient experienced improvement in penile length growth with intramuscular testosterone enanthate injection initiated at 4 months of age. The purpose of this study is to describe the etiology, endocrine laboratory tests, and treatment of micropenis in Kleefstra syndrome. Article A novel variant of THRβ and its 4-year clinical course in a Korean boy with resistance to thyroid hormone Thyroid hormone resistance (RTH) is characterized by a decreased sensitivity of target tissues to thyroid hormones due to a defect in the THR alpha- and THR beta-encoded thyroid hormone receptors (THRs). The clinical manifestations range from no symptoms to simple goiter and hypo- or hyperthyroidism, depending on the receptor subtype distribution in the tissues. Here, we report the case of a thyroid hormone-resistant 12-month-old boy carrying a novel THR beta variant who was initially diagnosed with congenital hypothyroidism. An extensive evaluation revealed increased free T4 level and inappropriately increased thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) level; a normal lipid profile, sex hormone-binding globulin, and free alpha subunit of TSH; exaggerated TSH response to THR; and no radiological evidence of pituitary adenoma. A targeted next-generation sequencing panel identified a heterozygote c.993T>G (p.Asn331Lys) mutation in the THR beta gene. During the first year of life, a higher dose of levothyroxine was administered to the patient due to uncompensated RTH. Levothyroxine treatment was continued after 3 years to maintain TSH level <5 mIU/mL, but the observed weight gain was poor, height increase was insufficient, and bone development was delayed. However, neither hyperactivity nor developmental delay was observed. Patients with RTH exhibit various clinical features. Due to its heterogeneous nature, genetic test for accurate diagnosis is important to provide proper management. Article Fabrication of niobium metal organic frameworks anchored carbon nanofiber hybrid film for simultaneous detection of xanthine, hypoxanthine and uric acid Early determination of abnormal levels of uric acid (UA), xanthine (XA), and hypoxanthine (HXA) in the body fluid and food stuff could be useful in preventing various diseases. In this paper, we have fabricated a selfstanding hybrid film based on niobium (benzene 1,3,5-tricarboxylic acid) MOFs (Nb(BTC)MOFs) and carbon nanofibers (CNFs) and explored as an enzyme-free electrochemical sensor for simultaneous determination of these analytes in phosphate buffer (pH = 7). As-developed hybrid film has a high specific surface area that permits faster transport of analyte molecules across the electrode-electrolyte interfaces, whereas a large number of active oxygen functionalities in MOF matrix could promote the sensitivity of the hybrid sensor. The Nb(BTC) MOF@CNF modified glassy carbon electrode (GCE) sensor demonstrated excellent electrochemical responses to these purine derivatives. The diffusion-controlled electrooxidation reactions of these three analytes were noticed. The hybrid sensor exhibited a wide linear range of 5 to 2000 mu M along with a low LOD of 70 nM, 76 nM, and 68 nM for UA, XA, and HXA, respectively. The present interference-free sensor showed high selectivity and good storage stability (40 days). Finally, the sensing performances of the Nb(BTC)MOF@CNF/GCE toward UA, XA, and HXA in real samples were found to comparable to those of high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) results. Article Metanephrine negative pheochromocytoma: a rare case report of dopamine- secreting tumor in an adolescent neurofibromatosis type 1 patient Pheochromocytoma (PCC) occurs in 4% of pediatric neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1) patients and is characterized by epinephrine and norepinephrine secretion. Herein, we report the first case of dopamine-secreting PCC in a 13-year- old patient with NF1. A left adrenal mass was incidentally found on abdominal computed tomography ( CT) during hypertension workup. Fractionated 24- hour urine metanephrine excretion was normal, but urine dopamine level was elevated. Focal 123I- metaiodobenzylguanidine uptake was observed on single-photon emission tomography/CT ( SPECT/CT). Surgery was delayed due to small tumor size, vague symptoms, and increased dopamine level. After 6 months, focal significant uptake of the lesion on 6-[18F]fluoro-L-3,4-dihydroxyphenylalanine (18F-FDOPA) PET/CT increased and tumor size increased on abdominal CT. Laparoscopic resection was performed, and the mass was histologically confirmed as PCC. Currently, the vital signs of the patient are stable, urine dopamine level is normal, and there is no abnormal uptake of 18F-FDOPA PET/CT. This study reports a rare case of dopaminesecreting PCC. A multidisciplinary approach and focused examination are needed in metanephrine-negative, high-risk PCC patients. Article Toxicological effect of endocrine disrupting insecticide (deltamethrin) on enzymatical, haematological and histopathological changes in the freshwater iridescent shark, Pangasius hypothalamus This study investigated the deltamethrin (DMN) induced harmful effects on Pangasius hypophthalmus using enzymatic activity, haematological, and histopathological changes. LC50 value was 0.021 mg/L at 96 h, and sublethal toxicity was tested for 45 days at two `concentrations (i.e., 1/5th and 1/10th of LC50). Haematological parameters and enzymatic activities significantly changed between DMN-exposed and control groups (p < 0.05). Histopathologically, both DMN doses induced liver hyperemia, hepatic cell rupture, necrosis, hypertrepheoid bile duct, shifting nuclei, vascular haemorrhage, and hepatocyte degeneration, while in gill, secondary lamellae destruction, a fusion of adjacent gill lamellae, hypertrophy, hyperplasia, adhesion, and fusion were noticed. Kidney developed melanomacrophages, increased periglomerular and peritubular space, vacuolation, decreased glomerulus, hyaline droplets in tubular cells, loss of tubular epithelium, distal convoluted segment hypertrophy, and granular layer in brain pyramid and Purkinje cell nucleus. But, limiting pesticide impacts on freshwater fish and their habitat requires a holistic, cradle-to-grave approach and toxicological studies. Reddy, C. Article Ultrawide Hydrazine Concentration Monitoring Sensor Comprising Ir-Ni Nanoparticles Decorated with Multi-Walled Carbon Nanotubes in On-Site Alkaline Fuel Cell Operation A highly sensitive amperometric hydrazine monitoring sensor offering an ultrawide dynamic range of 5 mu M to 1 M in alkaline media (e. g., 1 M KOH) was developed via co-electrodepositing iridium-nickel alloy nanoparticles (NPs) functionalized with multi-walled carbon nanotubes (Ir-Ni-MWCNTs) on a disposable screen-printed carbon electrode. The synergistic interaction of MWCNTs with Ir-Ni alloy NPs resulted in enlarged active surface area, rapid electron transfer, and alkaline media stability with an onset potential of -0.12 V (vs. Ag/AgCl) toward hydrazine oxidation. A limit of detection for hydrazine was 0.81 mu M with guaranteed reproducibility, repeatability, and storage stability alongside a superb selectivity toward ethanolamine, urea, dopamine, NaBH4, NH4OH, NaNO2, and Na2CO3. The sensor was finally applied to on-site monitoring of the carbon-free hydrazine concentration at the anode and cathode of a hydrazine fuel cell, providing more insight into the hydrazine oxidation process during cell operation. Article Azimuthal anisotropy of dijet events in PbPb collisions at √sNN=5.02 TeV The path-length dependent parton energy loss within the dense partonic medium created in lead-lead collisions at a nucleon-nucleon center-of-mass energy of root s(NN) = 5.02TeV is studied by determining the azimuthal anisotropies for dijets with high transverse momentum. The data were collected by the CMS experiment in 2018 and correspond to an integrated luminosity of 1.69 nb(-1). For events containing back-to-back jets, correlations in relative azimuthal angle and pseudorapidity (eta) between jets and hadrons, and between two hadrons, are constructed. The anisotropies are expressed as the Fourier expansion coefficients v(n), n = 2-4 of these azimuthal distributions. The dijet v(n) values are extracted from long-range (1.5 < vertical bar Delta eta vertical bar < 2.5) components of these correlations, which suppresses the background contributions from jet fragmentation processes. Positive dijet v(2) values are observed which increase from central to more peripheral events, while the v(3) and v(4) values are consistent with zero within experimental uncertainties.
