| ○ | ○ | Article | Spatial Variations in Tropical Cyclone Rainfall over the Western North Pacific According to ENSO Phase | This study investigated spatial variations in rainfall accompanying tropical cyclones (TCs) over the western North Pacific (WNP) from June to October over 1998-2019 according to phases of El Nin similar to o-Southern Oscillation (ENSO). The rainfall characteristics of TCs include rainfall strength (RS) in the core region, total rainfall area (RA), and total rain-fall volume (RV), all of which were calculated from satellite precipitation data. Spatial variation in mean RS presents a west-east dipole pattern (i.e., increases in the west of 1258E and decreases in the east during La Nin similar to a, and vice versa during El Nin similar to o) similar to that of maximum wind speed (Vmax), indicating a close relationship between them. On the other hand, both of mean RA and RV homogeneously increase during La Nin similar to a over the entire basin while they decrease during El Nin similar to o. The environmental conditions around TCs, including sea surface temperature, total column water, and divergence in the upper and lower troposphere during La Nin similar to a appear generally favorable for precipitation, while those during El Nin similar to o are unfavorable. Using multivariable regression models, we quantified the contributions of Vmax and environmen-tal conditions to the variations in TC rainfall. Overall results suggest that the variation in RS according to ENSO are mainly related to Vmax, while those of RA and RV are strongly controlled by environmental conditions. | Kim, Dasol; Park, Doo-Sun R.; Matyas, Corene J. | Univ Florida, Dept Geog, Gainesville, FL USA; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Dept Earth Sci Educ, Daegu, South Korea | Matyas, Corene/A-6435-2008; Park, Doo-Sun/U-9448-2019; Kim, Dasol/GWR-1499-2022 | 56420697800; 37117659000; 16242031400 | dsrpark@knu.ac.kr; | JOURNAL OF CLIMATE | J CLIMATE | 0894-8755 | 1520-0442 | 36 | 6 | SCIE | METEOROLOGY & ATMOSPHERIC SCIENCES | 2023 | 4.8 | 15.9 | 1.15 | 2025-06-25 | 7 | 7 | ENSO; Rainfall; Tropical cyclones | VERTICAL WIND SHEAR; EL-NINO; STORM MOTION; INTENSITY; ASYMMETRIES; LANDFALL; GENESIS; EVENTS; FIELDS; TRACKS | ENSO; Rainfall; Tropical cyclones | Pacific Ocean; Pacific Ocean (North); Atmospheric pressure; Climatology; Hurricanes; Lanthanum; Nickel compounds; Oceanography; Regression analysis; Surface waters; Tropical cyclone; Tropics; Wind; EL Nino; El Nino southern oscillation; Environmental conditions; La nina; Oscillation phasis; Rainfall characteristics; Spatial variations; Total rainfall; Tropical cyclone; Western North Pacific; El Nino-Southern Oscillation; precipitation assessment; rainfall; satellite data; spatial variation; tropical cyclone; Rain | English | 2023 | 2023-03 | 10.1175/jcli-d-22-0231.1 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | |
| ○ | ○ | Article | Trends in Potassium Permanganate (Ethylene Absorbent) Management Strategies: Towards Mitigating Postharvest Losses and Quality of Mango (Mangifera indica L) Fruit | Mango fruit exhibited great postharvest losses due to its climacteric pattern of respiration and high perishability. During storage periods, a high rate of water loss takes place by the process of evaporation and transpiration, which greatly affects market value and quality. The influence of potassium permanganate on the quality and storage life of mango (cv. Anwar Rataul) fruit was investigated by harvesting the fruit at the hard green stage of maturity and treating it with various potassium permanganate levels (0 (untreated), 10, 20, 30, 40, and 50 g). The treated and untreated fruits were stored at a 25 degrees C temperature while the relative humidity (RH) was kept at 75% and analyzed for quality traits after 0 (fresh fruit), 5, 10, 15, and 20 days). The results showed that the 30 g KMnO4 was the optimum level to maintain and achieve the maximum values of color, taste, aroma, firmness, total sugar, pH, and total soluble solids (TSS) with the minimum weight loss and waste percent after 20 days of storage. However, higher acidity and ascorbic acid were recorded with the 50 g KMnO4 level. The untreated fruits (control) did not retain the quality attributes for a longer period of time and deteriorated after 15 days. The results indicated that the KMnO4 levels and storage durations had significant effects on most of the parameters under the limit P < 0.05. | Fatima, Farzana; Basit, Abdul; Younas, Muhammad; Shah, Syed Tanveer; Sajid, Muhammad; Aziz, Iftikhar; Mohamed, Heba I. | Univ Agr, Fac Crop Prod Sci, Dept Hort, Peshawar 25120, Pakistan; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Dept Hort Sci, Daegu 41566, South Korea; Univ Agr, Dept Food Sci & Technol, Swat Campus, Swat, Pakistan; Ain Shams Univ, Fac Educ, Biol & Geol Sci Dept, Cairo, Egypt | mohamed, heba/U-8673-2019; Shah, Syed Tasadaque/AAB-4890-2021; Basit, Abdul/AAX-2414-2021 | 58046503000; 57218918852; 59069981800; 56089730700; 57213926335; 57417455600; 37102371200 | hebaibrahim79@gmail.com; | FOOD AND BIOPROCESS TECHNOLOGY | FOOD BIOPROCESS TECH | 1935-5130 | 1935-5149 | 16 | 10 | SCIE | FOOD SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY | 2023 | 5.3 | 15.9 | 2.21 | 2025-06-25 | 11 | 18 | Mango fruit; Potassium permanganate; Quality; Weight loss; Waste percent; Storage life | SHELF-LIFE; EXOGENOUS ETHYLENE; STORAGE LIFE; CALCIUM; MAINTENANCE; STRAWBERRY; RESPONSES; COATINGS; BANANAS; ACID | Mango fruit; Potassium permanganate; Quality; Storage life; Waste percent; Weight loss | Ascorbic acid; Ethylene; Fruits; Plants (botany); Potash; Transpiration; Waste management; Ethylene absorbent; Management strategies; Mangifera indica L; Mango fruits; Post-harvest loss; Postharvest quality; Quality; Storage life; Waste percent; Weight loss; Manganese compounds | English | 2023 | 2023-10 | 10.1007/s11947-023-03047-8 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | |
| ○ | ○ | Article | Dopaminergic neuroprotective effects of inosine in MPTP-induced parkinsonian mice via brain-derived neurotrophic factor upregulation | Parkinson's disease (PD) is the second most common neurodegenerative disease. However, no curative or modifying therapy is known. Inosine is a purine nucleoside that increases brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) expression in the brain through adenosine receptors. Herein, we investigated the neuroprotective effects of inosine and elucidated the mechanisms underlying its pharmacological action. Inosine rescued SH-SY5Y neuroblastoma cells from MPP+ injury in a dose-dependent manner. Inosine protection correlated with BDNF expression and the activation of its downstream signaling cascade, as the TrkB receptor inhibitor, K252a and siRNA against the BDNF gene remarkably reduced the protective effects of inosine. Blocking the A1 or A2A adenosine receptors diminished BDNF induction and the rescuing effect of inosine, indicating a critical role of adenosine A1 and A2A receptors in inosine-related BDNF elevation. We assessed whether the compound could protect dopaminergic neurons from MPTP-induced neuronal injury. Beam-walking and challenge beam tests revealed that inosine pretreatment for 3 weeks reduced the MPTP-induced motor function impairment. Inosine ameliorated dopaminergic neuronal loss and MPTP-mediated astrocytic and microglial activation in the substantia nigra and striatum. Inosine ameliorated the depletion of striatal dopamine and its metabolite following MPTP injection. BDNF upregulation and the activation of its downstream signaling pathway seemingly correlate with the neuroprotective effects of inosine. To our knowledge, this is the first study to demonstrate the neuroprotective effects of inosine against MPTP neurotoxicity via BDNF upregulation. These findings highlight the therapeutic potential of inosine in dopaminergic neurodegeneration in PD brains. | Khanal, Shristi; Bok, Eugene; Kim, Jaekwang; Park, Gyu Hwan; Choi, Dong-Young | Yeungnam Univ, Coll Pharm, 280 Daehakro, Gyongsan 38541, Gyeongbuk, South Korea; Korea Brain Res Inst, Dementia Res Grp, Daegu 41062, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Coll Pharm, Daegu 41566, South Korea | ; Khanal, Shristi/JGL-8157-2023 | 57570960000; 23003636500; 57201935123; 9939639300; 8585214900 | khanalshristi2@gmail.com;eugenebok@kbri.re.kr;kim_jaekwang@kbri.re.kr;park014@knu.ac.kr;dychoi@yu.ac.kr; | NEUROPHARMACOLOGY | NEUROPHARMACOLOGY | 0028-3908 | 1873-7064 | 238 | SCIE | NEUROSCIENCES;PHARMACOLOGY & PHARMACY | 2023 | 4.6 | 16.0 | 1.28 | 2025-06-25 | 8 | 9 | Inosine; MPTP; Parkinson's disease; Brain-derived neurotrophic factor | ADENOSINE A(1); BDNF; DISEASE; CELLS; RECEPTORS; NUCLEOSIDE; EXPRESSION; AUTOPHAGY; PROTECTS; KINASE | Brain-derived neurotrophic factor; Inosine; MPTP; Parkinson's disease | 1-Methyl-4-phenyl-1,2,3,6-tetrahydropyridine; Animals; Brain-Derived Neurotrophic Factor; Dopamine; Dopaminergic Neurons; Humans; Inosine; Mice; Mice, Inbred C57BL; Neuroblastoma; Neurodegenerative Diseases; Neuroprotective Agents; Parkinson Disease; Substantia Nigra; Up-Regulation; 1,2,3,6 tetrahydro 1 methyl 4 phenylpyridine; adenosine A1 receptor; adenosine A2a receptor; brain derived neurotrophic factor; brain derived neurotrophic factor receptor; dopamine; inosine; k 252a; mitogen activated protein kinase 1; mitogen activated protein kinase 3; protein kinase B; small interfering RNA; 1,2,3,6 tetrahydro 1 methyl 4 phenylpyridine; brain derived neurotrophic factor; dopamine; inosine; neuroprotective agent; adult; animal cell; animal experiment; animal model; animal tissue; Article; astrocyte; BDNF gene; cell activation; cell protection; controlled study; corpus striatum; dopaminergic nerve cell; drug effect; gene; human; human cell; in vitro study; in vivo study; male; metabolite; microglia; motor dysfunction; mouse; nerve cell lesion; nerve degeneration; neuroprotection; neurotoxicity; nonhuman; Parkinson disease; parkinsonism; protein expression; protein function; SH-SY5Y cell line; signal transduction; substantia nigra; upregulation; animal; C57BL mouse; degenerative disease; dopaminergic nerve cell; metabolism; neuroblastoma; Parkinson disease; upregulation | English | 2023 | 2023-11-01 | 10.1016/j.neuropharm.2023.109652 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | ||

| ○ | Article | A concept of stretchable coaxial cable based on one-body Au nanonetworks | Recently, the demand for wearable electronics has sharply been increasing for diverse purposes. For the entire system to process enormous data simultaneously between the devices, the importance of stretchable interconnects with large bandwidth has been emphasized. However, achieving an appropriate attenuation level as well as stable transmission performance against elongation is still challenging. This report suggests the stretchable coaxial cable based on the one-body metal network, which is intrinsically stretchable and highly conductive. By multiple wrapping of the one-body metal network, excellent connectivity and electrical conductivity were realized. Its sheet resistance reached as low as that of the solid cylindrical metal. The low-loss cable was obtained through a simple fabrication procedure; its attenuation at 1 GHz remained under 0.011 and 0.033 dB/mm against 0% and 20% elongation, respectively. Also, it only experienced an insignificant change of the attenuation level (∼3.0%) during 100 stretching/releasing cycles, implying its feasibility of the dynamic connections in prospective applications. © 2023 The Korean Society of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry | Kim, Juhyeon; Kim, Byeunggon; Eun, Jakyung; Yoon, Beom-Jin; Jeon, Sangmin; Do, Yun Seon; Jeong, Soo-Hwan | Department of Chemical Engineering, Kyungpook National University (KNU), Daegu, 41566, South Korea; Department of Chemical Engineering, Kyungpook National University (KNU), Daegu, 41566, South Korea; Department of Chemical Engineering, Pohang Institute of Science and Technology (POSTECH), Pohang, 37673, South Korea; Display Center, Korea Electronics Technology Institute (KETI), Seongnam, 13509, South Korea; Department of Chemical Engineering, Pohang Institute of Science and Technology (POSTECH), Pohang, 37673, South Korea; Department of Electrical Engineering, Kyungpook National University (KNU), Daegu, 41566, South Korea; Department of Chemical Engineering, Kyungpook National University (KNU), Daegu, 41566, South Korea | 57208757359; 57850996900; 57212144130; 56888368800; 7203005726; 24338060500; 7402425359 | shjeong@knu.ac.kr; | Journal of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry | J IND ENG CHEM | 1226-086X | 1876-794X | 124 | SCIE | CHEMISTRY, MULTIDISCIPLINARY;ENGINEERING, CHEMICAL | 2023 | 5.9 | 16.2 | 0.11 | 2025-06-25 | 1 | Electronic; Electrospinning; Etching; Stretchable; Transmission cable | Coaxial cables; Sheet metal; Attenuation levels; Electrical conductivity; Entire system; Low-loss; Metal networks; Nano-networks; Simple++; Stretchable; Transmission cables; Transmission performance; Etching | English | Final | 2023 | 10.1016/j.jiec.2023.04.040 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | ||||||||
| ○ | Article | Enhancing corrosion resistance of carbon steel and stainless steel through pothocathodic protection using TiO2-polyvinyl butyral electrophoretic deposition coating | Photocathodic protection (PCP) is a promising eco-friend method to reduce the corrosion of metals. Considering industrial applicability, it is imperative to adopt cost-effective materials for implementing PCP on corrosion-vulnerable carbon steel (CS). This study examined the potential of photocatalytic TiO2-polyvinyl butyral (PVB) materials for PCP of CS and stainless steel (STS) using commercially available P-25 photocatalyst particles. The TiO2-PVB-electrophoretic deposition (EPD) film exhibited the improved cathodic protection time of STS owing to PVB addition. When the film was applied to various substrates, it achieved a PCP of −0.6 to −0.7 VSCE due to the photogenerated electrons under UV irradiation. For the CS, the PCP potential was maintained for more than 1.5 hours, even after light irradiation. We have found that PCP was achieved by Ecorr > EPCP of CS in an acidic environment, while in a neutral and basic environment, the corrosion of CS and photocathodic electronation contributed simultaneously to Ecorr ≈ EPCP. One findings is that the application of PCP effectively reduces the corrosion rate of CS in a 3.5% NaCl solution, regardless of the pH of the corrosive environment. This highlights the capability of PCP as a viable method for mitigating corrosion on CS. © 2023 The Korean Society of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry | Yun, Tae Ho; Kim, Taeyong; Kim, Man Tae; Park, Ji Hoon; Kim, Sung Jin | Department of Precision Mechanical Engineering, Kyungpook National University (KNU), 2559 Gyeongsang-daero, Gyeongsangbukdo, Sangju, 37224, South Korea; Department of Advanced Science and Technology Convergence, Kyungpook National University (KNU), 2559 Gyeongsang-daero, Gyeongsangbukdo, Sangju, 37224, South Korea; Aerospace Composites Center, Korea Institute of Ceramic Engineering and Technology, 109, Soho-ro, Gyeongsanganmdo, Jinju, South Korea; Everindus Co., Ltd., Korea Ceramic Technology Institute, 109, Soho-ro, Gyeongsangnamdo, Jinju, 52851, South Korea; Department of Advanced Materials and Metallurgical Engineering, Sunchon National University, Jungang-ro, Jeonnam, Suncheon, South Korea | 55383561400; 57934043800; 37000127600; 58599952000; 57207864597 | park@everindus.com; | Journal of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry | J IND ENG CHEM | 1226-086X | 1876-794X | 126 | SCIE | CHEMISTRY, MULTIDISCIPLINARY;ENGINEERING, CHEMICAL | 2023 | 5.9 | 16.2 | 0.57 | 2025-06-25 | 5 | Carbon steel; Photocathodic protection; Polyvinyl butyral; TiO2 photocatalyst | Cathodic protection; Corrosion rate; Corrosion resistance; Corrosion resistant coatings; Cost effectiveness; Deposition; Electrophoresis; Irradiation; Sodium chloride; Stainless steel; Steel corrosion; Titanium alloys; Titanium dioxide; Available P; Cost effective; Deposition coating; Effective materials; Electrophoretic depositions; Enhancing corrosion resistances; Photo-catalytic; Photocathodic protection; Poly(vinyl butyral); TiO2 photocatalyst; Polyvinyl butyral | English | Final | 2023 | 10.1016/j.jiec.2023.06.029 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | ||||||||
| ○ | ○ | Article | Microwave-assisted rapid synthesis of nanosized SSZ-13 zeolites for effective conversion of ethylene to propylene | SSZ-13 is an attractive zeolite with chabazite topology composed of small pores with 8-membered rings. In this work, we report a highly effective method to synthesize SSZ-13s with microwave (MW) heating. Compared with conventional electric (CE) heating, MW heating accelerates both the nucleation and crys-tal growth rates of the synthesis by 6 and 18 times, respectively. Importantly, MW-assisted rapid synthe-sis produces the SSZ-13 with the smallest particles (<50 nm). However, the CE-assisted synthesis produces large/inhomogeneous particles (size: 0.4-1 lm). The obtained SSZ-13s were employed in acid catalysis or ethylene-to-propylene (ETP) reactions. The record-small SSZ-13s were more efficient in the ETP reactions, with more stable ethylene conversion/propylene yield (at the same time on stream) and higher propylene selectivity (at the same ethylene conversion), than large SSZ-13s. Finally, the maximum propylene yield (62%) is competitive or better than any SSZ-13s obtained via direct synthesis from pre-cursors like silica and alumina.(c) 2023 The Korean Society of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry. | ○ | ○ | Article | Mixed-Reference Spin-Flip Time-Dependent Density Functional Theory: Multireference Advantages with the Practicality of Linear Response Theory | The density functional theory (DFT) and linear response (LR) time-dependent (TD)-DFT are of the utmost importance for routine computations. However, the single reference formulation of DFT suffers in the description of open-shell singlet systems such as diradicals and bond-breaking. LR-TDDFT, on the other hand, finds difficulties in the modeling of conical intersections, doubly excited states, and core-level excitations. In this Perspective, we demonstrate that many of these limitations can be overcome by recently developed mixed-reference (MR) spin-flip (SF)-TDDFT, providing an alternative yet accurate route for such challenging situations. Empowered by the practicality of the LR formalism, it is anticipated that MRSF-TDDFT can become one of the major workhorses for general routine tasks. | Park, Woojin; Komarov, Konstantin; Lee, Seunghoon; Choi, Cheol Ho | Kyungpook Natl Univ, Dept Chem Educ, Daegu 41566, South Korea; Pohang Univ Sci & Technol, Ctr Quantum Dynam, Pohang 37673, South Korea; CALTECH, Div Chem & Chem Engn, Pasadena, CA 91125 USA; Seoul Natl Univ, Dept Chem, Seoul 151747, South Korea | Komarov, Konstantin/P-6466-2017; Lee, Seunghoon/AAB-4846-2021; Choi, Cheol Ho/AAA-4705-2020 | 57223952329; 57193073953; 57194591254; 7402958948 | seunghoonlee@snu.ac.kr;cchoi@knu.ac.kr; | JOURNAL OF PHYSICAL CHEMISTRY LETTERS | J PHYS CHEM LETT | 1948-7185 | 14 | 39 | SCIE | CHEMISTRY, PHYSICAL;MATERIALS SCIENCE, MULTIDISCIPLINARY;NANOSCIENCE & NANOTECHNOLOGY;PHYSICS, ATOMIC, MOLECULAR & CHEMICAL | 2023 | 4.9 | 16.2 | 1.3 | 2025-06-25 | 29 | 29 | POTENTIAL-ENERGY SURFACES; SELF-CONSISTENT-FIELD; NONADIABATIC COUPLING TERMS; MR-CI LEVEL; CONICAL INTERSECTIONS; EXCITED-STATES; ELECTRONIC-STRUCTURE; DOUBLE EXCITATIONS; ANALYTIC EVALUATION; PHOTOEXCITED DNA | Bond-breaking; Conical intersection; Density-functional-theory; Diradicals; Linear response; Linear-response theory; Multi reference; Open-shell; Spin flip time; Time dependent density functional theory; density functional theory; review; Density functional theory | English | 2023 | 2023-09-28 | 10.1021/acs.jpclett.3c02296 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | ||||
| ○ | ○ | Review | Nanoarchitectonics of metal-organic frameworks having hydroxy group for adsorption, catalysis, and sensing | Functionalized metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) are very popular because of their various applications, designable functional sites, and facile preparation. MOFs composed of a hydroxy group on linkers or on grafted species are also attractive based on the possible applications of loaded -OH groups. In this review, MOFs with -OH groups (termed MOF-OHs) will be discussed in the view of both preparation and appli-cations. Direct synthesis from linker precursors having -OH groups and post-synthetic modification will be delineated for the preparation of MOF-OHs. The applications of MOF-OHs in adsorption, catalysis, and sensing will also be dealt. This review shows that MOF-OHs can be facilely prepared via direct synthesis and post-synthetic modification; have various applications in adsorption, catalysis, etc. mainly because of the contribution of the loaded hydroxy groups. Finally, future prospects will be suggested for relevant research. (c) 2022 The Korean Society of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry. Published by Elsevier B.V. | ○ | ○ | Article | Prototropically Controlled Dynamics of Cytosine Photodecay | The effect of the existence of several prototropic tautomers of cytosine on its UV/vis spectra and the excited state decay dynamics is studied by spectral and nonadiabatic molecular dynamics (NAMD) simulations in connection with the mixed-reference spin-flip time-dependent density functional theory (MRSF-TDDFT) method. Simulated UV/vis spectra provide a strong indication that the H3N keto-amino cytosine tautomer (the least anticipated species) may be present under experimental conditions. The NAMD simulations yield a wide range of excited state decay constants for various tautomers of cytosine, ranging from similar to 1.3 ps for the biologically relevant H1N keto-amino tautomer to similar to 0.1 ps for the keto-imino tautomer. The slowness of the H1N decay dynamics follows from the presence of a barrier on the excited state energy surface separating the Franck-Condon structure from the major decay funnel, the conical intersection seam. It is suggested that the experimentally observed photodecay dynamics may result from a combination of the decay processes of various tautomers (H3N in particular) present simultaneously under the experimental conditions. | Sadiq, Saima; Park, Woojin; Mironov, Vladimir; Lee, Seunghoon; Filatov(Gulak), Michael; Choi, Cheol Ho | Kyungpook Natl Univ, Dept Chem, Daegu 41566, South Korea; CALTECH, Div Chem & Chem Engn, Pasadena, CA 91125 USA | Sadiq, Saima/JAN-6421-2023; Lee, Seunghoon/AAB-4846-2021; Mironov, Vladimir/I-4712-2012; Choi, Cheol Ho/AAA-4705-2020 | 59029170800; 57223952329; 16203310700; 57194591254; 7005134246; 7402958948 | mike.filatov@gmail.com;cchoi@knu.ac.kr; | JOURNAL OF PHYSICAL CHEMISTRY LETTERS | J PHYS CHEM LETT | 1948-7185 | 14 | 3 | SCIE | CHEMISTRY, PHYSICAL;MATERIALS SCIENCE, MULTIDISCIPLINARY;NANOSCIENCE & NANOTECHNOLOGY;PHYSICS, ATOMIC, MOLECULAR & CHEMICAL | 2023 | 4.9 | 16.2 | 1.31 | 2025-06-25 | 10 | 10 | COUPLED-CLUSTER METHOD; GAS-PHASE; AB-INITIO; RELATIVE STABILITIES; ELECTRON CORRELATION; MOLECULAR-DYNAMICS; TAUTOMERS; STATE; DNA; SPECTROSCOPY | Decay (organic); Excited states; Molecular dynamics; Spin dynamics; Controlled dynamics; Decay dynamics; Density functional theory methods; Dynamics simulation; Excited-state decay; Experimental conditions; Nonadiabatic molecular dynamics; Spin flip time; Time dependent density functional theory; UV-Vis spectrum; Density functional theory | English | 2023 | 2023-01-26 | 10.1021/acs.jpclett.2c03340 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | ||||
| ○ | Article | Regeneration of sodium bicarbonate from industrial Na-based desulfurization waste using ammonium hydroxide | In an effort to improve industrial waste recycling and realize zero-waste technology, we optimized the regeneration of sodium bicarbonate from desulfurization waste using aqueous ammonia. Sodium bicarbonate is essential for absorbing SO2 gas in flue gas desulfurization. Based on X-ray fluorescence analysis, desulfurization waste consists of 86.2% sodium sulfate. Rapid deposition of undesired ammonium bicarbonate in a reactor was observed at the early stages of the reaction when using ammonia gas, resulting in insufficient yield. For further improvement, the effect of ammonia solution dosage was explored in detail. The yield/purity of sodium bicarbonate regenerated from desulfurization waste is very close to that from pure sodium sulfate, 58.2/85.9% and 56.6/91.5%, respectively. Moreover, owing to greater surface area, the as-regenerated sample showed higher desulfurization performance (97% removal rate) than commercial sodium bicarbonate (88.6%) on 200 ppm SO2 gas at a 5 g/min feeding rate. © 2023 The Korean Society of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry | Lee, Donghyun; Ho Yun, Tae; Gi Min, Jung; Byun, Youngchul; Yim, Changyong | Department of Energy Chemical Engineering, Kyungpook National University (KNU), 2559 Gyeongsang-daero, Gyeongsangbuk-do, Sangju-si, 37224, South Korea; Department of Precision Mechanical Engineering, Kyungpook National University (KNU), 2559 Gyeongsang-daero, Gyeongsangbuk-do, Sangju-si, 37224, South Korea; Research Institute of Industrial Science & Technology (RIST), 187-12, Geumho-ro, Jeollanam-do, Gwangyang-si, 57801, South Korea; Research Institute of Industrial Science & Technology (RIST), 187-12, Geumho-ro, Jeollanam-do, Gwangyang-si, 57801, South Korea; Department of Energy Chemical Engineering, Kyungpook National University (KNU), 2559 Gyeongsang-daero, Gyeongsangbuk-do, Sangju-si, 37224, South Korea, Department of Advanced Science and Technology Convergence, Kyungpook National University (KNU), 2559 Gyeongsang-daero, Gyeongsangbuk-do, Sangju-si, 37224, South Korea | 58114562700; 55383561400; 56767505400; 23666194700; 36877182000 | min199053@rist.re.kr; | Journal of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry | J IND ENG CHEM | 1226-086X | 1876-794X | 122 | SCIE | CHEMISTRY, MULTIDISCIPLINARY;ENGINEERING, CHEMICAL | 2023 | 5.9 | 16.2 | 0.92 | 2025-06-25 | 8 | Desulfurization waste; Flue gas desulfurization process; Na-based absorbents; Regeneration process; SOx removal; Sodium bicarbonate | Ammonia; Ammonium bicarbonate; Ammonium hydroxide; Desulfurization; Flue gases; Flues; Fluorescence; Sulfur compounds; Desulphurization; Desulphurization process; Desulphurization waste; Flue gas desulphurization process; Gas desulfurization; Industrial wastes recycling; Na-based absorbent; Regeneration process; SOx removal; Zero waste; Sodium bicarbonate | English | Final | 2023 | 10.1016/j.jiec.2023.03.012 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | ||||||||
| ○ | Article | Symmetric Differentials and Jets Extension of L2 Holomorphic Functions | Let Σ = Bn/Γ be a complex hyperbolic space with discrete subgroup Γ of the automorphism group of the unit ball Bn, and Ω be a quotient of Bn × Bn under the diagonal action of Γ which is a holomorphic Bn-fiber bundle over Σ. The goal of this article is to investigate the relation between symmetric differentials of Σ and the weighted L2 holomorphic functions of Ω. If there exists a holomorphic function on Ω and it vanishes up to k-th order but with nonvanishing (k + 1)-th order on the maximal compact complex variety in Ω, then there exists a symmetric differential of degree k+1 on Σ. Using this property, we show that Σ has a symmetric differential of degree N for any N ≥ n + 1 under certain conditions. Moreover, if Σ is compact, for each symmetric differential over Σ we construct a weighted L2 holomorphic function on Ω. We also show that any bounded holomorphic function on Ω is constant. | ○ | ○ | Article | Synthesis of SSZ-13 zeolites using calcined rice husk as silica source for propylene production from ethylene and carbon dioxide adsorption | A zeolite named SSZ-13, with a small pore of 8-membered rings, is an attractive porous material for DeNOx, CO2 capture/separation, methanol-to-olefin conversion, and direct conversion of ethylene to propylene (DCEP). Although the synthesis of SSZ-13 has been done for a long time and is useful for some applications, further development in the synthesis is required to reduce the production cost or to optimize the preparation. On the other hand, the utilization of waste is important for our sustainability. In this study, SSZ-13 zeolite was synthesized using rice husk-derived silica, for the first time, in order to prepare SSZ-13 at a low cost and utilize agricultural byproducts in zeolite synthesis. Via this research, it was found that SSZ-13s could be synthesized readily by using rice husk-derived silica even without seed crystals. Synthesis at 180 degrees C for 5-7 d leads to SSZ-13 from the gel with a wide range of silica/alumina ratios. Prepared SSZ-13 in proton form, together with a commercial SSZ-13, was utilized in DCEP and CO2 adsorption at low pressure. The two H-SSZ-13s showed very similar performances in DCEP and CO2 capture, showing an agricultural waste or byproduct, rice husk, can be successfully utilized in the preparation of SSZ-13 zeolites. | ○ | ○ | Article | Synthesis, crystal structure, luminescent properties, and magnetic properties of lanthanide(III) complexes containing the chiral (S,S/R,R)-N, N'-bis(3,5-dinitrosalicylidene)-1,2-cyclohexanediamine ligand | In this work, we report novel enantiopure mononuclear complexes (teaH)[Ln((S,S)-dnsalcd)2] and (teaH) [Ln((R,R)-dnsalcd)2] (Ln = Eu3+ for 1 and 4, Tb3+ for 2 and 5, and Sm3+ for 3 and 6), where teaH = triethy lammonium and (S,S/R,R)-H2dnsalcd = (S,S/R,R)-N,N'-bis(3,5-dinitrosalicylidene)-1,2-cyclohexanedia mine. Their unique structural features have been studied by single crystal diffraction and chiral and magnetic properties have been investigated by circular dichroism and susceptibility, respectively. Notably, 1 and 3 were found to be isomorphous and exhibited a single intramolecular 7C -7C interaction between two (S,S)-dnsalcd2-ligands. In contrast, 2 and 5 were found to be isomorphous and displayed two intramolecular 7C -7C interactions between two (S,S/R,R)-dnsalcd2-ligands. Interestingly, strong Eu3+/Sm3+-based emissions in the solid and solution states were observed by efficient antenna effects due to the 7C -7C interaction modes of the coordinated ligands. Furthermore, density functional theory calculations indicated that 1 contained a single localized benzene group in the highest occupied molecular orbital (HOMO), whereas 2 exhibited full delocalization via 7C -7C interactions in the HOMO.(c) 2023 The Korean Society of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry.
