| ○ | ○ | Article | Forecast Characteristics of Radar Data Assimilation Based on the Scales of Precipitation Systems | Radar data with high spatiotemporal resolution and automatic weather station (AWS) data are used in the data assimilation experiment to improve the precipitation forecast of a numerical model. The numerical model considered in this study is the Weather Research and Forecasting (WRF) model with double-moment 6-class microphysics scheme (WDM6). We calculated the radar equivalent reflectivity factor using high resolution WRF and compared it with radar observations in South Korea. To compare the precipitation forecast characteristics of the three-dimensional variational (3D-Var) assimilation of radar data, four experiments were performed based on the scales of precipitation systems. Comparison of the 24 h accumulated rainfall with surface observation data, contoured frequency by altitude diagram (CFAD), time-height cross sections (THCS), and vertical hydrometeor profiles was used to evaluate the accuracy of the simulation of precipitation. The model simulations were performed with and without 3D-VAR radar reflectivity, radial velocity and AWS assimilation for two mesoscale convective cases and two synoptic scale cases. The combined effect of the radar and AWS data assimilation experiment improved the location of the precipitation area and rainfall intensity compared to the control run. There is a noticeable scale dependence in the improvement of precipitation systems. Improvements in simulating mesoscale convective systems were larger compared to synoptically driven precipitation systems. | Bae, Jeong-Ho; Min, Ki-Hong | Korea Meteorol Adm, Natl Typhoon Ctr, Seogwipo 63614, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Sch Earth Syst Sci, Daegu 41566, South Korea | 57211944575; 37089364100 | jhbae89@korea.kr;kmin@knu.ac.kr; | REMOTE SENSING | REMOTE SENS-BASEL | 2072-4292 | 14 | 3 | SCIE | ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCES;GEOSCIENCES, MULTIDISCIPLINARY;IMAGING SCIENCE & PHOTOGRAPHIC TECHNOLOGY;REMOTE SENSING | 2022 | 5 | 15.1 | 0.45 | 2025-06-25 | 6 | 5 | radar; precipitation; 3D-Var; data assimilation; WRF | ENSEMBLE KALMAN FILTER; CUMULUS PARAMETERIZATION SCHEME; MICROPHYSICAL RETRIEVAL; CONVECTIVE-SCALE; HEAVY RAINFALL; CLOUD ANALYSIS; PART II; RESOLUTION; IMPACT; 3DVAR | 3D-Var; Data assimilation; Precipitation; Radar; WRF | Meteorological radar; Numerical models; Rain; Reflection; Value engineering; Weather information services; 3d-var; Automatic weather stations; Data assimilation; Precipitation forecast; Precipitation systems; Radar data; Radar data assimilation; Spatio-temporal resolution; Station data; Weather research and forecasting; Weather forecasting | English | 2022 | 2022-02 | 10.3390/rs14030605 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | |||
| ○ | ○ | Article | High Efficiency Bidirectional Dual Active Bridge (DAB) Converter Adopting Boost-Up Function for Increasing Output Power | In this article, we proposed a bidirectional dual active bridge (DAB) converter adopting a boost-up function. The proposed converter can be implemented by adding only one capacitor to the high voltage side without additional active components. By utilizing the boost-up function, the proposed converter can achieve higher output power than the conventional DAB converter under the same leakage inductance condition. In comparison with the resonant converter in addressing the output power limitation, the proposed converter can reduce the switching and conduction losses due to the low turn-off and circulating currents, and complex control is not required to drive the synchronous rectifier. Furthermore, the direction of the output power can be easily changed with a simple control circuit. Experimental results from the proposed converter with a 3 kW rated power, 28-V low-side voltage, and 600-V high-side voltage are demonstrated to verify the proposed works. | Yu, Chanhun; Jang, Sungroc; Kim, Hyoungsuk; Kim, Taehyun; Son, Seongho; Kwon, Changhyun; Jang, Ilwoong; Cha, Honnyong | Korea Electrotechnol Res Inst, Chang Won 51543, South Korea; Univ Sci & Technol, Chang Won 51543, South Korea; GooGoo, Chang Won 51619, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Daegu 41566, South Korea | Kim, Tae/C-5935-2015; Shon, Seongho/LOI-5826-2024; Kim, Tae/AAV-5521-2020 | 57190813654; 26422309700; 58740330300; 57219837559; 57219842388; 57825562900; 57826062000; 24450248400 | chyu@keri.re.kr;scion10@keri.re.kr;khs@keri.re.kr;appleigig@keri.re.kr;shson95@keri.re.kr;kch5725@keri.re.kr;ilwoong.jang@googoo.net;chahonny@knu.ac.kr; | IEEE TRANSACTIONS ON POWER ELECTRONICS | IEEE T POWER ELECTR | 0885-8993 | 1941-0107 | 37 | 12 | SCIE | ENGINEERING, ELECTRICAL & ELECTRONIC | 2022 | 6.7 | 15.1 | 1.1 | 2025-06-25 | 9 | 14 | Power generation; Voltage; Switches; Inductance; Capacitors; Transformers; DH-HEMTs; Bidirectional operation; boost-up function; capacitor adding; dual-active-bridge (DAB) converters | DC-DC CONVERTER; LCC RESONANT CONVERTER; CAPACITOR CHARGER; DESIGN; IMPLEMENTATION; STRATEGY; DENSITY | Bidirectional operation; boost-up function; capacitor adding; dual-active-bridge (DAB) converters | Boost converter; Electric rectifiers; Bidirectional operation; Boost-up function; Capacitor adding; DH-HEMTs; Dual active bridge converter; High-voltages; Higher efficiency; Output power; Power- generations; Transformer; Inductance | English | 2022 | 2022-12 | 10.1109/tpel.2022.3192048 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | |
| ○ | ○ | Article | Improved NPC Inverters Without Short-Circuit and Dead-Time Issues | The traditional neutral point clamped (NPC) inverter has short-circuit problem. The risk of short-circuit can be decreased by using dead-time in the switching signals. However, the dead-time decreases the achievable output voltage and causes distortion in the waveforms. To overcome the short-circuit problem, dual-buck NPC (DB-NPC) and split-inductor NPC (SI-NPC) inverters have been researched. However, the voltage stress of the two external diodes in the DB-NPC inverter is higher. On the other hand, the SI-NPC inverter has a problem of generating huge voltage spikes in the dead-time, which can destroy the semiconductor devices. In addition, the SI-NPC inverter cannot provide reactive power. This article presents a family of NPC inverters consisting of single-phase, three-phase, and cascaded inverters. The proposed inverters have no short-circuit and dead-time issues, therefore no high voltage and current spikes are caused. Also, the dead-time in the switching signals can be minimized. As a result, the magnitude of the output waveforms can be increased, and quality can be improved. Unlike the DB-NPC inverter, the voltage stress of all the semiconductor in the proposed inverter is lower, and unlike the SI-NPC inverter the proposed inverter provides reactive power. In this article, the proposed three-level NPC inverter is analyzed, designed, and tested. The voltage stress of the semiconductor devices in the proposed inverter is half of the source voltage, whereas in the conventional DB-NPC inverter the voltage stress of the two external diodes is the source voltage. In addition to the aforementioned benefits, the proposed cascaded inverter reduces the total number of inductors. To verify the analysis, detailed simulation, and experimental results of the proposed three-level inverter with input voltage 640 V, output power 1.2 kW, and output voltage 220 Vrms are provided. | Khan, Ashraf Ali; Khan, Usman Ali; Ahmed, Furqan; Cha, Honnyong; Ahmed, Shehab Ahmed | King Abdullah Univ Sci & Technol, CEMSE Div, Thuwal 23955, Saudi Arabia; Yonsei Univ, Dept Elect & Elect Engn, Seoul 03722, South Korea; Khalifa Univ, Dept Elect Engn & Comp Sci, Abu Dhabi 127788, U Arab Emirates; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Sch Energy Engn, Daegu 702701, South Korea | ; Khan, Ashraf/IXW-6751-2023 | 56341377400; 57206383294; 56735445800; 24450248400; 7402715995 | khan.ashraf.ali1989@gmail.com;usman_705@ymail.com;furqanhmd164@gmail.com;chahonny@knu.ac.kr;shehab.ahmed@kaust.edu.sa; | IEEE TRANSACTIONS ON POWER ELECTRONICS | IEEE T POWER ELECTR | 0885-8993 | 1941-0107 | 37 | 2 | SCIE | ENGINEERING, ELECTRICAL & ELECTRONIC | 2022 | 6.7 | 15.1 | 2.75 | 2025-06-25 | 22 | 35 | Inverters; Switches; Stress; Inductors; Semiconductor diodes; Reactive power; Multilevel inverters; Current spikes; diode voltage stress; inverter; magnetic volume; multilevel; voltage spikes | DUAL-BUCK INVERTER; FULL-BRIDGE INVERTER; MULTILEVEL CONVERTERS; REDUCED NUMBER; VOLTAGE; TRANSFORMERLESS; COMPENSATION | Current spikes; diode voltage stress; inverter; magnetic volume; multilevel; voltage spikes | Electric inverters; Semiconductor diodes; Timing circuits; Current spikes; Dead time; Diode voltage; Diode voltage stress; Inverte; Magnetic volume; Multilevels; Neutral-point clamped inverters; Voltage spikes; Voltage stress; Reactive power | English | 2022 | 2022-02 | 10.1109/tpel.2021.3103159 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | |
| ○ | ○ | Article | Improved Odd-Harmonic Repetitive Control Scheme for Cuk-Derived Inverter | This article proposes an improved odd-harmonic repetitive controller (IORC) for a Cuk-derived inverter. The IORC is composed of a modified structure of an odd-harmonic repetitive controller (ORC) combined with a proportional-integral (PI) controller and a feedforward controller to achieve a zero steady-state error in the Cuk-derived inverter. The IORC features much larger gains at odd-harmonic frequencies by modification of an existing ORC, so both its convergence rate and transient response become much faster. The added benefit of using the IORC is that it has wider bandwidth at odd-harmonic frequencies, so it is more insensitive to the grid frequency fluctuation. The IORC also adopts a linear phase-lead compensator to compensate for the phase lag of the Cuk-derived inverter. Hence, the IORC can effectively eliminate the odd-harmonic components in the output current of the grid-connected Cuk-derived inverter while using less memory space. However, the distinctive structure of the IORC makes it difficult to guarantee the stability of the overall control system. Thus, in this article, a new stability analysis method is developed for the IORC system, and then a practical design guideline is also provided to obtain the optimal control parameters. Experimental results are presented to validate the proposed controller in the 300-W Cuk-derived inverter prototype. | Han, Byeongcheol; Jo, Seung-Won; Kim, Minsung; Nguyen Anh Dung; Lai, Jih-Sheng | Kyungpook Natl Univ, Sch Elect Engn, Daegu 41566, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Sch Elect & Elect Engn, Daegu 41566, South Korea; Hanwha Solut, Syst Dev Ctr, Seoul 08506, South Korea; Dongguk Univ, Div Elect & Elect Engn, Seoul 04620, South Korea; Lucid Motors, Newark, CA 94560 USA; Virginia Polytech Inst & State Univ, Future Energy Elect Ctr, Virginia Tech, Blacksburg, VA 24061 USA | Han, Byeongcheol/W-7608-2019; Dung, Nguyen/V-4971-2019 | 57188622752; 57217022071; 57201445330; 57189692069; 56493805300 | hbychol@knu.ac.kr;vsw3127@dongguk.edu;mkim@dgu.ac.kr;dungnguyen240290@gmail.com;laijs@vt.edu; | IEEE TRANSACTIONS ON POWER ELECTRONICS | IEEE T POWER ELECTR | 0885-8993 | 1941-0107 | 37 | 2 | SCIE | ENGINEERING, ELECTRICAL & ELECTRONIC | 2022 | 6.7 | 15.1 | 1.65 | 2025-06-25 | 17 | 21 | Inverters; Harmonic analysis; Stability analysis; Transient response; Frequency control; Memory management; Convergence; Cuk inverters; grid-connected inverters; harmonic control; module-integrated converter (MIC); selective harmonics | PHASE-LEAD COMPENSATION; CURRENT SUPPRESSION; DESIGN; IMPLEMENTATION; MICROINVERTER; MITIGATION | C¨uk inverters; grid-connected inverters; harmonic control; module-integrated converter (MIC); selective harmonics | Control system analysis; Control system stability; Electric inverters; Harmonic analysis; Transient analysis; Two term control systems; Feed-forward controllers; Odd harmonic component; Overall controls; Proportional integral controllers; Repetitive control; Repetitive controller; Stability analysis method; Zero steady state error; Controllers | English | 2022 | 2022-02 | 10.1109/tpel.2021.3108465 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | |
| ○ | ○ | Article | LPASS-Net: Lightweight Progressive Attention Semantic Segmentation Network for Automatic Segmentation of Remote Sensing Images | Semantic segmentation of remote sensing images plays a crucial role in urban planning and development. How to perform automatic, fast, and effective semantic segmentation of considerable size and high-resolution remote sensing images has become the key to research. However, the existing segmentation methods based on deep learning are complex and often difficult to apply practically due to the high computational cost of the excessive parameters. In this paper, we propose an end-to-end lightweight progressive attention semantic segmentation network (LPASS-Net), which aims to solve the problem of reducing computational costs without losing accuracy. Firstly, its backbone features are based on a lightweight network, MobileNetv3, and a feature fusion network composed of a reverse progressive attentional feature fusion network work. Additionally, a lightweight non-local convolutional attention network (LNCA-Net) is proposed to effectively integrate global information of attention mechanisms in the spatial dimension. Secondly, an edge padding cut prediction (EPCP) method is proposed to solve the problem of splicing traces in the prediction results. Finally, evaluated on the public datasets BDCI 2017 and ISPRS Potsdam, the mIoU reaches 83.17% and 88.86%, respectively, with an inference time of 0.0271 s. | Liang, Han; Seo, Suyoung | Kyungpook Natl Univ, Dept Civil Engn, Daegu 41566, South Korea | ; Liang, Han/HPC-7877-2023; Seo, Suyoung/AAB-8465-2020 | 57222620902; 35198914000 | syseo@knu.ac.kr; | REMOTE SENSING | REMOTE SENS-BASEL | 2072-4292 | 14 | 23 | SCIE | ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCES;GEOSCIENCES, MULTIDISCIPLINARY;IMAGING SCIENCE & PHOTOGRAPHIC TECHNOLOGY;REMOTE SENSING | 2022 | 5 | 15.1 | 0.27 | 2025-06-25 | 3 | 3 | lightweight network; attention mechanism; very high resolution; deep learning | CLASSIFICATION; DEFORESTATION; SCALE | attention mechanism; deep learning; lightweight network; very high resolution | Deep learning; Remote sensing; Semantic Web; Semantics; Attention mechanisms; Automatic segmentations; Computational costs; Deep learning; Features fusions; Lightweight network; Planning and development; Remote sensing images; Semantic segmentation; Very high resolution; Semantic Segmentation | English | 2022 | 2022-12 | 10.3390/rs14236057 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | ||
| ○ | ○ | Article | Modified Double-Dual-Boost High-Conversion-Ratio DC-DC Converter With Common Ground and Low-Side Gate Driving | This letter proposes a modified double-dual-boost (DDB) high-conversion-ratio dc-dc converter. The proposed converter is derived from the existing DDB converter by a simple yet effective circuit modification and inherits all the advantages of the existing DDB converter. In addition, the input and output can share a common ground due to the circuit modification, enabling the use of low-side gate drivers for all switching devices. When compared with the existing DDB converter, the proposed converter requires only one more capacitor, and the seemingly two inductors can be integrated into a single inductor. Thus, the overall magnetic volume is the same as the conventional converter. To validate the performance of the proposed converter, a 2-kW prototype was fabricated and tested. | Nguyen, Chan Viet; Cha, Honnyong; Bui, Dai; Choi, Byungcho | Kyungpook Natl Univ, Sch Energy Engn, Daegu 41566, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Sch Elect Engn, Daegu 41566, South Korea | ; BUI, VAN-DAI/AAE-6202-2022; Bui, Van-Dai/AAE-6202-2022 | 57210827612; 24450248400; 57221961296; 7402755121 | ncviet93@gmail.com;chahonny@knu.ac.kr;buidai68@gmail.com;bchoi@ee.knu.ac.kr; | IEEE TRANSACTIONS ON POWER ELECTRONICS | IEEE T POWER ELECTR | 0885-8993 | 1941-0107 | 37 | 5 | SCIE | ENGINEERING, ELECTRICAL & ELECTRONIC | 2022 | 6.7 | 15.1 | 1.73 | 2025-06-25 | 6 | 23 | Inductors; Capacitors; Voltage; Logic gates; Stress; Magnetomechanical effects; Switches; Common ground; double-dual-boost (DDB) converter; high-conversion ratio; interleaved; low-side gate driving | BUCK CONVERTER; DESIGN | Common ground; double-dual-boost (DDB) converter; high-conversion ratio; interleaved; low-side gate driving | Electric inductors; Electric inverters; BOOST converter; Common ground; Conversion ratio; Double-dual-boost converter; Dual-boost; Gate driving; High conversion ratio; High conversions; Inductor; Interleaved; Low-side gate driving; Magneto-mechanical effects; Side gate; DC-DC converters | English | 2022 | 2022-05 | 10.1109/tpel.2021.3130911 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | |
| ○ | ○ | Article | Modified SVPWM for Three-Phase Six-Switch Switching-Cell Current Source Inverter | This article proposes a three-phase six-switch switching-cell current source inverter (H6-SC-CSI) and a modified switching scheme of space vector pulsewidth modulation (SVPWM). Compared to the conventional three-phase six-switch current source inverter, the H6-SC-CSI has no open-circuit possibility, thus, the inverter reliability is greatly enhanced. In addition, the overlap-time can be minimized; hence, the output waveform quality can be considerably improved. Due to the presence of switching-cell capacitors, a conventional switching sequence of the SVPWM is modified for the inverter to operate properly. A 2.2 kW hardware prototype is built and tested to verify the effectiveness of the proposed PWM. | Nguyen, The-Tien; Cha, Honnyong; Do, Duc-Tuan; Akbar, Fazal | Wayne State Univ, Dept Elect & Comp Engn, Detroit, MI 48202 USA; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Sch Energy Engn, Daegu 1370, South Korea; Thai Nguyen Univ Technol, Fac Elect Engn, Thai Nguyen, Vietnam; Queens Univ Belfast, Belfast BT9 5AH, Antrim, North Ireland | Nguyen, Tien/ABX-3214-2022; akbar, fazal/AAU-7197-2020; Do, Duc Tuan/ISB-5137-2023 | 59454647000; 24450248400; 57202470961; 57194409251 | nguyen-thetien93@gmail.com;chahonny@knu.ac.kr;doductuan-tdh@tnut.edu.vn;akbarfazal1992@gmail.com; | IEEE TRANSACTIONS ON POWER ELECTRONICS | IEEE T POWER ELECTR | 0885-8993 | 1941-0107 | 37 | 12 | SCIE | ENGINEERING, ELECTRICAL & ELECTRONIC | 2022 | 6.7 | 15.1 | 0.55 | 2025-06-25 | 6 | 7 | Switches; Capacitors; Voltage; Inverters; Semiconductor diodes; Space vector pulse width modulation; Legged locomotion; Current source inverter; reliability; space vector; switching-cell; three-phase | CONVERTER | Current source inverter; reliability; space vector; switching-cell; three-phase | Cells; Electric inverters; Pulse width modulation; Semiconductor diodes; Switches; Switching; Vector spaces; Voltage control; Cell current; Current source inverter; Inverter; Legged locomotion; Modified space vector pulse width modulations; Space Vector; Space vector pulse width modulation; Switching cells; Three phase; Three phasis; Cytology | English | 2022 | 2022-12 | 10.1109/tpel.2022.3199217 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | |
| ○ | ○ | Article | MTPA Control Method for MIDP SPMSM Drive System Using Angle Difference Controller and P&O Algorithm | This study presents a maximum torque per ampere (MTPA) control method for a mono inverter dual parallel (MIDP) surface-mounted permanent-magnet synchronous motor (SPMSM) drive system. The multimotor drive system has been extensively studied, because it can drive moreover two motors using only one inverter, reducing the costly power conversion circuit. However, existing studies concerning MIDP permanent-magnet synchronous motor drive systems focus on stabilizing the system, and studies regarding efficiency optimization are difficult to find. Some studies have shown the efficiency-optimizing method, but implementing is challenging because of the complicated calculations and algorithm. The proposed control method can achieve efficiency-optimizing operation using the angle difference controller. The angle difference controller controls the angle difference of two motors to an optimal value. Furthermore, the optimal angle difference of two motors can be easily obtained regardless of parameter errors, using the perturbation and observation algorithm. The proposed MTPA strategy is verified by performing simulations using matlab Simulink and applying the method to an actual MIDP SPMSM drive system. | Lee, Jungho; Choi, Jong-Woo | Daegu Mechatron & Mat Inst, Daegu 42714, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Sch Elect & Elect Engn, Dept Elect Engn, Daegu 41566, South Korea | Choi, Jong-Woo/AAI-3011-2020 | 57206732024; 56087993500 | lee.jungho@knu.ac.kr;cjw@knu.ac.kr; | IEEE TRANSACTIONS ON POWER ELECTRONICS | IEEE T POWER ELECTR | 0885-8993 | 1941-0107 | 37 | 12 | SCIE | ENGINEERING, ELECTRICAL & ELECTRONIC | 2022 | 6.7 | 15.1 | 1.73 | 2025-06-25 | 12 | 22 | Synchronous motors; Torque; Induction motors; Traction motors; Inverters; Steady-state; Motor drives; Efficiency optimizing; maximum torque per ampere (MTPA); mono inverter dual parallel (MIDP); permanent-magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) | SINGLE-INVERTER; SENSORLESS | Efficiency optimizing; maximum torque per ampere (MTPA); mono inverter dual parallel (MIDP); permanent-magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) | Controllers; Electric drives; Electric inverters; Permanent magnets; Simulink; Synchronous motors; Angle difference; Control methods; Efficiency optimizing; Maximum torque per ampere; Mono inverte dual parallel; Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor; Permanent magnet synchronous motor drive system; Permanent-magnet synchronoi motor; Surface mounted permanent magnet synchronous motor; Efficiency | English | 2022 | 2022-12 | 10.1109/tpel.2022.3196400 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | |
| ○ | ○ | Article | Object-Based High-Rise Building Detection Using Morphological Building Index and Digital Map | High-rise buildings (HRBs) as modern and visually unique land use continue to increase due to urbanization. Therefore, large-scale monitoring of HRB is very important for urban planning and environmental protection. This paper performed object-based HRB detection using high-resolution satellite image and digital map. Three study areas were acquired from KOMPSAT-3A, KOMPSAT-3, and WorldView-3, and object-based HRB detection was performed using the direction according to relief displacement by satellite image. Object-based multiresolution segmentation images were generated, focusing on HRB in each satellite image, and then combined with pixel-based building detection results obtained from MBI through majority voting to derive object-based building detection results. After that, to remove objects misdetected by HRB, the direction between HRB in the polygon layer of the digital map HRB and the HRB in the object-based building detection result was calculated. It was confirmed that the direction between the two calculated using the centroid coordinates of each building object converged with the azimuth angle of the satellite image, and results outside the error range were removed from the object-based HRB results. The HRBs in satellite images were defined as reference data, and the performance of the results obtained through the proposed method was analyzed. In addition, to evaluate the efficiency of the proposed technique, it was confirmed that the proposed method provides relatively good performance compared to the results of object-based HRB detection using shadows. | Jung, Sejung; Lee, Kirim; Lee, Won Hee | Kyungpook Natl Univ, Dept Convergence & Fus Syst Engn, Sangju 37224, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Dept Spatial Informat, Daegu 41566, South Korea | ; Jung, Sejung/NRB-6938-2025 | 57209137546; 57193932338; 57190774365 | renai1226@knu.ac.kr;geolee@knu.ac.kr;wlee33@knu.ac.kr; | REMOTE SENSING | REMOTE SENS-BASEL | 2072-4292 | 14 | 2 | SCIE | ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCES;GEOSCIENCES, MULTIDISCIPLINARY;IMAGING SCIENCE & PHOTOGRAPHIC TECHNOLOGY;REMOTE SENSING | 2022 | 5 | 15.1 | 0.9 | 2025-06-25 | 6 | 11 | object-based high-rise building detection; morphological building index; digital map; azimuth angle | REMOTELY-SENSED IMAGES; LIDAR DATA; CLASSIFICATION; EXTRACTION; URBANIZATION; SEGMENTATION; ALGORITHMS | Azimuth angle; Digital map; Morphological building index; Object-based high-rise building detection | Image segmentation; Land use; Object detection; Satellites; Azimuth angles; Building detection; Digital map; High rise building; Morphological building index; Object based; Object-based high-rise building detection; Objects-based; Performance; Satellite images; Tall buildings | English | 2022 | 2022-01 | 10.3390/rs14020330 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | ||
| ○ | ○ | Article | Potential of AOD Retrieval Using Atmospheric Emitted Radiance Interferometer (AERI) | Aerosols in the atmosphere play an essential role in the radiative transfer process due to their scattering, absorption, and emission. Moreover, they interrupt the retrieval of atmospheric properties from ground-based and satellite remote sensing. Thus, accurate aerosol information needs to be obtained. Herein, we developed an optimal-estimation-based aerosol optical depth (AOD) retrieval algorithm using the hyperspectral infrared downwelling emitted radiance of the Atmospheric Emitted Radiance Interferometer (AERI). The proposed algorithm is based on the phenomena that the thermal infrared radiance measured by a ground-based remote sensor is sensitive to the thermodynamic profile and degree of the turbid aerosol in the atmosphere. To assess the performance of algorithm, AERI observations, measured throughout the day on 21 October 2010 at Anmyeon, South Korea, were used. The derived thermodynamic profiles and AODs were compared with those of the European center for a reanalysis of medium-range weather forecasts version 5 and global atmosphere watch precision-filter radiometer (GAW-PFR), respectively. The radiances simulated with aerosol information were more suitable for the AERI-observed radiance than those without aerosol (i.e., clear sky). The temporal variation trend of the retrieved AOD matched that of GAW-PFR well, although small discrepancies were present at high aerosol concentrations. This provides a potential possibility for the retrieval of nighttime AOD. | Seo, Jongjin; Choi, Haklim; Oh, Youngsuk | Univ Wisconsin, Dept Atmospher & Ocean Sci, Madison, WI 53706 USA; Univ Wisconsin, Space Sci & Engn Ctr, Madison, WI 53706 USA; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Kyungpook Inst Oceanog, Daegu 41566, South Korea; Natl Inst Meteorol Sci, Innovat Meteorol Res Dept, Seogwipo Si 63568, South Korea | ; Oh, Young/AAX-7437-2020 | 57218563229; 57215186877; 57201735788 | jseo47@wisc.edu;haklim84@knu.ac.kr;ysoh306@korea.kr; | REMOTE SENSING | REMOTE SENS-BASEL | 2072-4292 | 14 | 2 | SCIE | ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCES;GEOSCIENCES, MULTIDISCIPLINARY;IMAGING SCIENCE & PHOTOGRAPHIC TECHNOLOGY;REMOTE SENSING | 2022 | 5 | 15.1 | 0.72 | 2025-06-25 | 7 | 8 | retrieval algorithm; AOD; AERI; hyper-spectral; infrared; optimal estimation method | AEROSOL OPTICAL DEPTH; RADIATIVE-TRANSFER; CLOUD PROPERTIES; GAW-PFR; ALGORITHM; ABSORPTION; RECORD; MODIS; RADIOMETERS; PROFILES | AERI; AOD; Hyper-spectral; Infrared; Optimal estimation method; Retrieval algorithm | Interferometers; Radiative transfer; Remote sensing; Weather forecasting; Aerosol information; Aerosol optical depths; Atmospheric emitted radiance interferometers; Filter radiometers; Global atmosphere watches; HyperSpectral; Optical depth retrievals; Optimal estimation methods; Retrieval algorithms; Thermodynamic profiles; Aerosols | English | 2022 | 2022-01 | 10.3390/rs14020407 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | ||
| ○ | ○ | Article | Results of Active Middle Ear Implantation in Patients With Mixed Hearing Loss After Middle Ear Surgery : A Prospective Multicenter Study (the ROMEO Study) | Objectives. This study was conducted to evaluate the user satisfaction, efficacy, and safety of round window (RW) vibro-plasty using the Vibrant Soundbridge (VSB) in patients with persistent mixed hearing loss after mastoidectomy. Methods. The study included 27 patients (mean age, 58.7 years; age range, 28-76 years; 11 men and 16 women) with mixed hearing loss after mastoidectomy from 15 tertiary referral centers in Korea. The VSB was implanted at the RW. The Korean translation of the Abbreviated Profile of Hearing Aid Benefit (APHAB) questionnaire and the Korean version of the International Outcome Inventory for Hearing Aids (K-IOI-HA) questionnaire were used to evaluate user satisfac-tion as the primary outcome. The secondary outcome measures were audiological test results and complication rates. Results. The mean scores for ease of communication (61.3% to 29.7% to 30.2%), reverberation (62.1% to 43.1% to 37.4%), and background noise (63.3% to 37.7% to 34.3%) subscales of the APHAB questionnaire significantly decreased after VSB surgery. The mean K-IOI-HA scores at 3 and 6 months after surgery were significantly higher than the mean preoperative score (18.6 to 27.2 to 28.1). The postoperative VSB-aided thresholds were significantly lower than the preoperative unaided and hearing aid (HA)-aided thresholds. There was no significant difference between preopera-tive unaided, preoperative HA-aided, and postoperative VSB-aided maximum phonetically balanced word-recogni-tion scores. None of the 27 patients experienced a change in postoperative bone conduction pure tone average. One patient developed temporary facial palsy and two developed surgical wound infections. Conclusion. RW vibroplasty resulted in improved satisfaction and audiological test results in patients with mixed hearing loss after mastoidectomy, and the complication rate was tolerable. | Song, Chan Il; Cho, Hyong-Ho; Choi, Byung Yoon; Choi, Jae Young; Choi, Jin Woong; Choung, Yun-Hoon; Chung, Jong Woo; Chung, Won-Ho; Hong, Sung Hwa; Kim, Yehree; Lee, Byung Don; Lee, Il-Woo; Lee, Jong Dae; Lee, Jun Ho; Lee, Kyu-Yup; Moon, Il Joon; Moon, In Seok; Oh, Seung-Ha; Park, Hong Ju; Park, Shi Nae; Seo, Ji Won | Yonsei Univ, Dept Otorhinolaryngol, Coll Med, Seoul, South Korea; Chonnam Natl Univ, Dept Otolaryngol Head & Neck Surg, Med Sch, Chonnam Natl Univ Hosp, Gwangju, South Korea; Seoul Natl Univ, Bundang Hosp, Dept Otorhinolaryngol, Coll Med, Seongnam, South Korea; Chungnam Natl Univ, Dept Otorhinolaryngol Head & Neck Surg, Sch Med, Daejeon, South Korea; Ajou Univ, Dept Otolaryngol, Sch Med, Suwon, South Korea; Univ Ulsan, Coll Med, Asan Med Ctr, Dept Otorhinolaryngol Head & Neck Surg, 88 Olymp Ro 43 Gil, Seoul 05505, South Korea; Sungkyunkwan Univ, Samsung Med Ctr, Dept Otorhinolaryngol Head & Neck Surg, Sch Med, Seoul, South Korea; Sungkyunkwan Univ, Samsung Changwon Hosp, Dept Otorhinolaryngol Head & Neck Surg, Sch Med, Seoul, South Korea; Soonchunhyang Univ, Dept Otorhinolaryngol Head & Neck Surg, Coll Med, Seoul, South Korea; Pusan Natl Univ, Sch Med, Dept Otorhinolaryngol Head & Neck Surg, Yangsan Hosp, Yangsan, South Korea; Soonchunhyang Univ, Dept Otorhinolaryngol Head & Neck Surg, Coll Med, Bucheon Hosp, Bucheon, South Korea; Seoul Natl Univ, Seoul Natl Univ Hosp, Dept Otorhinolaryngol Head & Neck Surg, Coll Med, Seoul, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Kyungpook Natl Univ Hosp, Sch Med, Dept Otorhinolaryngol Head & Neck Surg, Daegu, South Korea; Catholic Univ Korea, Coll Med, Dept Otorhinolaryngol Head & Neck Surg, Seoul, South Korea | Chung, Jong/A-4287-2013; CHANG, SUK WON/AFT-1073-2022; Lee, Jeon/AAO-5126-2020; Choi, Hayoung/AAI-8638-2020; Lee, Doh Young/GLR-9586-2022; LEE, YU JIN/IQW-0278-2023; Lee, Sungwook/K-3697-2013 | 56539126500; 8363917300; 57529370900; 56145609500; 56054896300; 7004685469; 7404003342; 7401983065; 21934425200; 57195399872; 35215275100; 56390540500; 25722773400; 55882259900; 22135779500; 13606798300; 55953868500; 56582818600; 57213039619; 7501826944; 57205162191 | jwchung@amc.seoul.kr; | CLINICAL AND EXPERIMENTAL OTORHINOLARYNGOLOGY | CLIN EXP OTORHINOLAR | 1976-8710 | 2005-0720 | 15 | 1 | SCIE | OTORHINOLARYNGOLOGY | 2022 | 3 | 15.1 | 1.09 | 2025-06-25 | 7 | 6 | Active Middle Ear Implant; Mixed Hearing Loss; RoundWindow; Vibroplasty; Vibrant Soundbridge | VIBRANT SOUNDBRIDGE; AID; MASTOIDECTOMY | Active Middle Ear Implant; Mixed Hearing Loss; Round Window; Vibrant Soundbridge; Vibroplasty | English | 2022 | 2022-02 | 10.21053/ceo.2020.01851 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | ||
| ○ | ○ | Article | Rotor Flux Estimator Design With Offset Extractor for Sensorless-Driven Induction Motors | In sensorless drive of induction motors (IMs), the design of a voltage model (VM) for flux estimation is challenging because of its inherent problems with dc saturation and drift. In the implementation of VM, various strategies have been studied in the flux estimator design. The closed-loop (CL) style flux estimator is a popular scheme owing to its good performance in a wide speed range. However, the CL style suffers from dc drift problems because of an offset at the back electromotive force. Based on the fact that dc drift always persists in the CL style flux estimator, this article proposes an offset extractor (OE) using a parallel structure of two CL style flux estimators. Moreover, a crossover strategy is applied to the comparative flux used in the CL scheme. This strategy guarantees low-speed operation including zero speed. When offset compensation using the proposed OE is applied to the flux estimator in a feedforward manner, the proposed flux estimator exhibits good performance in a wide speed range with robustness to the offset. Compared with the conventional methods, the proposed OE and flux estimator are verified in various situations by simulation and experiment in a sensorless-driven IM. | Jo, Gwon-Jae; Choi, Jong-Woo | LS ELECT Co Ltd, Automat Solut Lab, Anyang 14118, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Sch Elect & Elect Engn, Dept Elect Engn, Daegu 41566, South Korea | ; Choi, Jong-Woo/AAI-3011-2020; Jo, Gwonjae/GYV-0312-2022 | 57201365205; 56087993500 | jogwonjae@naver.com;cjw@knu.ac.kr; | IEEE TRANSACTIONS ON POWER ELECTRONICS | IEEE T POWER ELECTR | 0885-8993 | 1941-0107 | 37 | 4 | SCIE | ENGINEERING, ELECTRICAL & ELECTRONIC | 2022 | 6.7 | 15.1 | 1.65 | 2025-06-25 | 18 | 21 | Rotors; Mathematical models; Voltage; Stators; Estimation; Steady-state; Induction motors; Back electromotive force (back EMF); closed-loop (CL) style; flux estimator; induction motor (IM); offset extractor (OE); sensorless drive | VECTOR CONTROL; TORQUE CONTROL; OBSERVER; INTEGRATOR | Back electromotive force (back EMF); closed-loop (CL) style; flux estimator; induction motor (IM); offset extractor (OE); sensorless drive | Electromotive force; Back electromotive force; Closed-loop; Closed-loop style; Flux estimator; Induction motor; Inductions motors; Offset extractor; Sensorless; Sensorless drive; Induction motors | English | 2022 | 2022-04 | 10.1109/tpel.2021.3126331 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | |
| ○ | ○ | Article | Spatial Cross-Correlation of GOSAT CO2 Concentration with Repeated Heat Wave-Induced Photosynthetic Inhibition in Europe from 2009 to 2017 | In recent decades, European countries have faced repeated heat waves. Traditionally, atmospheric CO2 concentration linked to repeated heat wave-induced photosynthetic inhibition has been explored based on local-specific in-situ observations. However, previous research based on field surveys has limitations in exploring area-wide atmospheric CO2 concentrations linked to repeated heat wave-induced photosynthetic inhibition. The present study aimed to evaluate the spatial cross-correlation of Greenhouse gases Observing SATellite (GOSAT) CO2 concentrations with repeated heat wave-induced photosynthetic inhibition in Europe from 2009 to 2017 by applying geographically weighted regression (GWR). The local standardized coefficient of a fraction of photosynthetically active radiation (FPAR: -0.24) and the normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI: -0.22) indicate that photosynthetic inhibition increases atmospheric CO2 in Europe. Furthermore, from 2009 to 2017, the heat waves in Europe contributed to CO2 emissions (27.2-32.1%) induced by photosynthetic inhibition. This study provides realistic evidence to justify repeated heat wave-induced photosynthetic inhibition as a fundamental factor in mitigating carbon emissions in Europe. | Hwang, Young-Seok; Schlueter, Stephan; Um, Jung-Sup | Korea Environm Inst, Sejong 30147, South Korea; Ulm Univ Appl Sci, Dept Math Nat & Econ Sci, D-89075 Ulm, Germany; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Dept Geog, Daegu 41566, South Korea | Um, Jung-Sup/F-5351-2018 | 57218585482; 55258366500; 35173565000 | jsaeom@knu.ac.kr; | REMOTE SENSING | REMOTE SENS-BASEL | 2072-4292 | 14 | 18 | SCIE | ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCES;GEOSCIENCES, MULTIDISCIPLINARY;IMAGING SCIENCE & PHOTOGRAPHIC TECHNOLOGY;REMOTE SENSING | 2022 | 5 | 15.1 | 0.27 | 2025-06-25 | 3 | 3 | GOSAT; photosynthetic inhibition; heat wave; geographically weighted regression (GWR); Europe | DROUGHT; MODIS; PRODUCTIVITY; RESPONSES; GROWTH; MODEL; AREA | Europe; geographically weighted regression (GWR); GOSAT; heat wave; photosynthetic inhibition | Greenhouse gases; Atmospheric CO 2; CO 2 concentration; Cross-correlations; Europe; European Countries; Gas observing satellite; Geographically weighted regression; Heatwaves; Photosynthetic inhibition; Carbon dioxide | English | 2022 | 2022-09 | 10.3390/rs14184536 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | ||
| ○ | ○ | Article | Triple-Active-Bridge Converter With Automatic Voltage Balancing for Bipolar DC Distribution | The bipolar dc grid outperforms the conventional unipolar dc distribution in terms of quality, flexibility, efficiency, reliability, transmission capacity, and safety. Despite many advantages, it has a voltage imbalance problem. Unbalanced and asymmetrical load conditions are the major contributors to this imbalance. This article proposes the triple-active-bridge converter with an automatic voltage balancing capability for bipolar dc distribution that eliminates the need for a dedicated voltage balancing controller and any additional active/passive components. Furthermore, along with the bidirectional power flow feature of a converter, the proposed method utilizes the magnetic integration of a converter's existing inductors. This voltage balancing coupled inductor offers the required inductance for power transfer and zero-voltage-switching, over and above provides effective voltage balancing without increasing the magnetic volume of a converter. The proposed method does not require an individual output voltage sensing and moreover; it decreases the complexity by reducing the system from two control variables to one. A 5-kW prototype is tested under an extreme-unbalanced load condition during the steady-state and as well as during transients. The analysis and experimental results are presented to validate the performance. | Naseem, Nabeel; Cha, Honnyong | Kyungpook Natl Univ, Sch Energy Engn, Daegu 702701, South Korea | Naseem, Nabeel/AAL-9740-2021 | 57210829179; 24450248400 | nabeelnaseem@gmail.com;chahonny@knu.ac.kr; | IEEE TRANSACTIONS ON POWER ELECTRONICS | IEEE T POWER ELECTR | 0885-8993 | 1941-0107 | 37 | 7 | SCIE | ENGINEERING, ELECTRICAL & ELECTRONIC | 2022 | 6.7 | 15.1 | 3.85 | 2025-06-25 | 40 | 50 | Inductors; Magnetic separation; Windings; Sensors; Magnetomechanical effects; Magnetic resonance; Inductance; Bipolar dc grid; imbalanced voltage; triple-active-bridge; triple-active-bridge (TAB) converter; voltage balance; voltage balancing coupled inductor (VBCL) | RESONANT CONVERTER; COUPLED-INDUCTOR; QUALITY; SYSTEM | Bipolar dc grid; Imbalanced voltage; Triple-active-bridge; Triple-active-bridge (TAB) converter; Voltage balance; Voltage balancing coupled inductor (VBCL) | Electric inductors; Electric load flow; Energy transfer; Inductance; Inductive power transmission; Magnetic separation; Power converters; Zero voltage switching; Bipolar dc grid; Bridge converter; Coupled inductor; DC grid; Imbalanced voltage; Inductor; Magneto-mechanical effects; Triple-active-bridge; Triple-active-bridge converter; Voltage balance; Voltage balancing; Voltage balancing coupled inductor; Magnetic resonance | English | 2022 | 2022-07 | 10.1109/tpel.2022.3150152 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 |
