| ○ | ○ | Article | Multifunctional double active layers formed with electrochemically controlled nanoparticle dispersion for resistive switching memory arrays | Expanding resistive random-access memory (RRAM) from a single device to an array requires a selector to suppress the sneak path and an external device to control the compliance current. Thus, a unique crossbar array that can be independently driven through the novel design of a multilayer RRAM structure with intelligently controlled Cu2O consisting of nanoparticles embedded in the amorphous matrix (ANPs) is proposed. The ANPs-Cu2O active layers are prepared by electrodeposition, and the negative shift of the deposition potential induces a higher density and smaller size of the nanoparticles. The ANPs-Cu2O films show different set voltages and extremely uniform reset voltages, and thus a functional double active layer (DAL) structure consisting of two ANPs-Cu2O layers with different set voltages is proposed. The electrochemically fabricated VCu-controlled DALs effectively protected the reverse current from the self-rectifying characteristics of a large forward/reverse current ratio, thus realizing selector-less RRAMs. In addition, the soft-breakdown showing filament formation in the upper layer reveals the saturation current step acting as a self-compliance current without the assistance of transistors. Finally, a 4 x 4 crossbar DAL RRAM array with transistor-less self-rectification is demonstrated, which shows excellent memory performance and endurance without interfering with adjacent cells. | Suh, Hee Won; Kim, Dong Su; Choi, Ji Hoon; Lee, Hak Hyeon; Lee, Kun Woong; Jung, Sung Hyeon; Yang, Won Seok; Kim, Jeong Jae; Yang, Ji Sook; Lee, Ho Seong; Cho, Hyung Koun | Sungkyunkwan Univ, Sch Adv Mat Sci & Engn, 2066 Seobu ro, Suwon 16419, Gyeonggi Do, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Sch Mat Sci & Engn, 80 Daehak ro, Daegu 41566, South Korea | Cho, Hyung/P-2007-2017; 김, 동수/IAN-1770-2023 | 57222623083; 57209168253; 57218377818; 57923457900; 57255172600; 57200660299; 57895122500; 57255172700; 57479572700; 55706810400; 35236454300 | chohk@skku.edu; | APPLIED SURFACE SCIENCE | APPL SURF SCI | 0169-4332 | 1873-5584 | 608 | SCIE | CHEMISTRY, PHYSICAL;MATERIALS SCIENCE, COATINGS & FILMS;PHYSICS, APPLIED;PHYSICS, CONDENSED MATTER | 2023 | 6.3 | 10.9 | 0 | 2025-06-25 | 0 | 0 | Copper oxide; RRAM; Self -driving; Crossbar array; Sneak current; Compliance current | PHOTOCATHODES; FILMS | Compliance current; Copper oxide; Crossbar array; RRAM; Self-driving; Sneak current | Compliance control; Nanoparticles; RRAM; Active Layer; Compliance current; Crossbar arrays; Memory array; Random access memory; Resistive random-access memory; Reverse currents; Self drivings; Set voltage; Sneak currents; Copper oxides | English | 2023 | 2023-01-15 | 10.1016/j.apsusc.2022.155206 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | ||
| ○ | ○ | Article | Nanoscratch-healing of single and bilayer thin films of hindered urea bond-based self-healable copolymers | In this study, the effects of the surface properties of single and bilayer thin films of hindered urea bond (HUB)-based self-healable copolymers on their scratch-wound formation and self-healing were investigated. Initially, three prepolymers with bulky amine groups, PtB (control), PFtB (hydrophobic), and PMtB (hydrophilic), were synthesised by free-radical polymerisation. Subsequently, they were used to fabricate self-healing copolymers by crosslinking with HDI. The three crosslinked polymers (PtB-H, PFtB-H, and PMtB-H) showed contact angles of 80 degrees, 93 degrees, and 73 degrees, respectively. Moreover, all the single-layer samples showed complete scratch healing within 2 h at ambient temperature, with PFtB-H and PMtB-H showing an initial elastic recovery immediately after scratch formation, unlike PtB-H. The formation of bilayer samples by stepwise coating was confirmed by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). Owing to HUB networks formed on their surface similar to the single-layer, bilayer coatings showed excellent scratch-healing performance at room temperature for nano-scratches with 40-50 nm depth, as indicated by AFM. PMtB-H@PtB-H showed a better scratch-healing performance than PFtB-H@PtB-H, and the scratch-healing ability of PMtB-H@PtB-H was improved by moisture. Their nano-scale self-healing ability was verified by micro-scale scratch tests; scratches with 4-12 mu m depth healed completely with similar to 100% SHE% at 60 degrees C. | Ahmed, Sana; Lee, Hyang Moo; Kim, Gi Young; Kim, Jin Chul; Cheong, In Woo | Kyungpook Natl Univ, Engn Sch, Dept Appl Chem, Daegu 41566, South Korea; Korea Res Inst Chem Technol, Res Ctr Green Fine Chem, Ulsan 44412, South Korea | Kim, Kyoung-Sook/A-7768-2017; Ahmed, Sana/JXL-4930-2024 | 57444624300; 55598631800; 57210997221; 56805502600; 7006733373 | jckim81@krict.re.kr;inwoo@knu.ac.kr; | APPLIED SURFACE SCIENCE | APPL SURF SCI | 0169-4332 | 1873-5584 | 624 | SCIE | CHEMISTRY, PHYSICAL;MATERIALS SCIENCE, COATINGS & FILMS;PHYSICS, APPLIED;PHYSICS, CONDENSED MATTER | 2023 | 6.3 | 10.9 | 0.37 | 2025-06-25 | 3 | 3 | Self-healing; Hindered urea bond; Nano-scratch; Atomic force microscopy; Bilayer coatings | BLOOD COMPATIBILITY; WATER-STRUCTURE; POLYMER; ELASTOMERS; ISOCYANATE; BEARING; WETTABILITY; SURFACES; NETWORK | Atomic force microscopy; Bilayer coatings; Hindered urea bond; Nano-scratch; Self-healing | Free radical polymerization; Free radicals; Metabolism; Nanotechnology; Plastic coatings; Self-healing materials; Thin films; X ray photoelectron spectroscopy; Atomic-force-microscopy; Bi-layer coatings; Bilayer thin films; Hindered urea bond; Nano-scratch; Performance; Prepolymers; Scratch healing; Self-healing; Single layer; Urea | English | 2023 | 2023-07-01 | 10.1016/j.apsusc.2023.157112 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | ||
| ○ | ○ | Article | Polypyrrole film synthesis via solution plasma polymerization of liquid pyrrole | Herein, a polymerization method is presented for forming polypyrrole films from liquid pyrrole using a solution plasma process (SPP) by adjusting the operating voltage waveform. Negatively or positively biased bipolar square-wave pulses were applied to a tungsten wire to generate plasma, while a copper tape served as a ground electrode as well as the metallic substrate for polymer film deposition. Solution plasma induced by negatively or positively biased bipolar square-wave pulses was mainly generated in the negative or positive half cycle of the operating voltage, respectively. Pyrrole anions, well known as strong bases, were generated by the SPP using the negatively biased bipolar square-wave pulse, which increased the pH level of the SP-processed pyrrole solution. The polypyrrole films were deposited onto the Cu tape, which served as the anode, only under this operation condition. Thereafter, the polypyrrole film, with a thickness of 22 mu m and consisting of overlapped polypyrrole particles, was synthesized for 2 h. The differences in the discharge characteristics of the solution plasma driven by negatively and positively biased bipolar square-wave pulses initiated the formation of different reactive species of the pyrrole monomer. Based on these results, a mechanism for polypyrrole film formation using the SPP is proposed. | Jang, Hyo Jun; Shin, Bhum Jae; Jung, Eun Young; Bae, Gyu Tae; Kim, Jae Young; Tae, Heung-Sik | Kyungpook Natl Univ, Coll IT Engn, Sch Elect & Elect Engn, Daegu 41566, South Korea; Sejong Univ, Dept Elect Engn, Seoul 05006, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Inst Elect Technol, Coll IT Engn, Daegu 41566, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Coll IT Engn, Sch Elect Engn, Daegu 41566, South Korea | 57207956623; 7103027782; 57203199724; 57202369078; 57205191453; 7006298844 | jyk@knu.ac.kr;hstae@ee.knu.ac.kr; | APPLIED SURFACE SCIENCE | APPL SURF SCI | 0169-4332 | 1873-5584 | 608 | SCIE | CHEMISTRY, PHYSICAL;MATERIALS SCIENCE, COATINGS & FILMS;PHYSICS, APPLIED;PHYSICS, CONDENSED MATTER | 2023 | 6.3 | 10.9 | 2.22 | 2025-06-25 | 13 | 18 | Solution plasma; Plasma -liquid interaction; Polypyrrole film | GOLD NANOPARTICLES; ATMOSPHERIC-PRESSURE; REDUCTION; DISCHARGE; FTIR; XPS | Plasma–liquid interaction; Polypyrrole film; Solution plasma | Aromatic compounds; Electric discharges; Electrodes; Liquids; Metal substrates; Plasma polymerization; Polymer films; Semiconducting films; Liquid interactions; Liquid pyrrole; Operating voltage; Plasma liquid; Plasma–liquid interaction; Polymerization method; Polypyrrole film; Solution plasma process; Solution plasmas; Square wave pulse; Polypyrroles | English | 2023 | 2023-01-15 | 10.1016/j.apsusc.2022.155129 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | |||
| ○ | ○ | Article | Pronounced thickness effect of permanent charge-introduced branched poly (ethylene imine) surface-modifying layers in polymer:nonfullerene solar cells | Modification of electrode surfaces in polymer:nonfullerene solar cells have attracted keen interest because it greatly affects the device performance. In this study, we tried to modify the indium-tin oxide (ITO) electrode surface by introducing a branched poly(ethylene imine) (bPEI) nanolayer, which is doped with 3-hydroxypro-pane-1-sulfonic acid (HPSA), and investigated the thickness effect of HPSA-doped branched PEI layers on the performance of inverted-type polymer:nonfullerene solar cells. The doping ratio of HPSA to bPEI was set to 20 mol% to secure sufficient room for dipole formation, while the bPEI:HPSA thickness was varied between 0 and 5.5 nm. Results showed that the open circuit voltage of devices was remarkably increased by coating the 1.0-3.1 nm-thick bPEI:HPSA layers on the ITO electrodes. The efficiency of solar cells was strongly dependent on the bPEI:HPSA thickness and exhibited the highest efficiency (12.13 %) at 1.5 nm, which is much higher than ca. 7.7 % in the case of 1.5 nm-thick pristine bPEI layers. The improved performance of solar cells was correlated with surface morphology and wetting characteristics, electrode work function change and coverage effect by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, and device stability after 60-day storage. | Lee, Woongki; Son, Hyunji; Kim, Taehoon; Kim, Hwajeong; Kim, Soyeon; Lim, Dong Chan; Kim, Youngkyoo | Kyungpook Natl Univ, Dept Chem Engn, Organ Nanoelect Lab, Daegu 41566, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Res Inst Environm Sci & Technol, Prior Res Ctr, Daegu 41566, South Korea; Korea Inst Mat Sci KIMS, Dept Energy & Elect Mat, Surface Mat Div, Chang Won 51508, South Korea; Korea Inst Mat Sci KIMS, Nano Technol Innovat Ctr, Chang Won 51508, South Korea | 59041346100; 58670981000; 57218650958; 15520531700; 57069276700; 8526402700; 10340424400 | kimso1965@kims.re.kr;dclim@kims.re.kr;ykimm@knu.ac.kr; | APPLIED SURFACE SCIENCE | APPL SURF SCI | 0169-4332 | 1873-5584 | 609 | SCIE | CHEMISTRY, PHYSICAL;MATERIALS SCIENCE, COATINGS & FILMS;PHYSICS, APPLIED;PHYSICS, CONDENSED MATTER | 2023 | 6.3 | 10.9 | 0.25 | 2025-06-25 | 1 | 2 | Electrode surface modification; b PEI; HPSA; Thickness; Work function; Polymer; nonfullerene solar cells | WORK-FUNCTION; PERFORMANCE; EFFICIENCY; CATHODES; ZNO | bPEI:HPSA; Electrode surface modification; Polymer:nonfullerene solar cells; Thickness; Work function | Efficiency; Electrodes; Ethylene; Indium compounds; Morphology; Open circuit voltage; Polymer solar cells; Surface morphology; Tin oxides; Wetting; X ray photoelectron spectroscopy; Branched poly(ethylene imine):3-hydroxypropane-1-sulphonic acid; Electrode surface modifications; Electrode surfaces; Indium tin oxide electrodes; Performance; Poly(ethyleneimine); Polymer:nonfullerene solar cell; Sulphonic acids; Thickness; Thickness effect; Work function | English | 2023 | 2023-01-30 | 10.1016/j.apsusc.2022.155249 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | |||
| ○ | ○ | Article | Rational design of double perovskite La2Ni0.5Co0.5MnO6 decorated polyaniline array on MoO3 nanobelts with strong heterointerface boosting oxygen evolution reaction and urea oxidation | The design and implementation of affordable high-performance electrocatalysts for the oxygen evolution reac-tion (OER) and urea electrooxidation reaction (UOR) are critical for clean and environmentally friendly energy conversion. Herein, we constructed a novel heterostructure interface engineering of double perovskite La2Ni0.5Co0.5MnO6 (LNCM) nanoparticles and MoO3 nanobelt array-supported amorphous polyaniline (PANI; MoO3/P) for high-performance OER and UOR. Structural and morphological analyses confirmed the formation of a heterostructure interface. The optimized La2Ni0.5Co0.5MnO6@MoO3/P (LMP-30) demonstrated electrocatalytic performance with low overpotentials of 300 mV at 10 mA cm-2 (vs RHE) for OER and 0.48 V at 50 mA cm-2 (vs Hg/HgO) for UOR, as well as better stability after testing for 12 h. The improved electrocatalytic performance was attributed to its distinctive hierarchical nanostructure, which had a synergistic effect on modulating the electrical characteristics and an electrochemically active surface area. More importantly, the LNCM nano -particles on the surface of MoO3/P nanobelts can potentially provide more electrocatalytic active sites, excellent charge transport capacity, enhanced electrical properties, and strong electronic contacts between MoO3/P and LNCM. | Maheskumar, Velusamy; Saravanakumar, Karunamoorthy; Govindan, Jagan; Park, Chang Min | Kyungpook Natl Univ, Dept Environm Engn, 80 Daehak ro, Daegu 41566, South Korea | Karunamoorthy, Saravanakumar/Q-2005-2016; Park, Chang Min/CAA-8506-2022 | 57004930400; 57223020778; 57996349700; 57209588953 | cmpark@knu.ac.kr; | APPLIED SURFACE SCIENCE | APPL SURF SCI | 0169-4332 | 1873-5584 | 612 | SCIE | CHEMISTRY, PHYSICAL;MATERIALS SCIENCE, COATINGS & FILMS;PHYSICS, APPLIED;PHYSICS, CONDENSED MATTER | 2023 | 6.3 | 10.9 | 2.72 | 2025-06-25 | 25 | 24 | Double perovskite; MoO3; P; Heterointerface; Oxygen evolution reaction; Urea electrooxidation | EFFICIENT BIFUNCTIONAL ELECTROCATALYSTS; PERFORMANCE; OER; HETEROSTRUCTURE; NANOPARTICLES; REDUCTION; COMPOSITE; ELECTRODE; SITE; ORR | Double perovskite; Heterointerface; MoO3/P; Oxygen evolution reaction; Urea electrooxidation | Electrocatalysts; Lanthanum compounds; Manganese compounds; Metabolism; Molybdenum oxide; Nanobelts; Nanoparticles; Nickel compounds; Oxygen; Perovskite; Double perovskites; Electro-oxidation reaction; Electrocatalytic performance; Electrooxidations; Hetero-interfaces; Heterostructure interfaces; MoO3/P; Performance; Rational design; Urea electrooxidation; Urea | English | 2023 | 2023-03-01 | 10.1016/j.apsusc.2022.155737 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | ||
| ○ | ○ | Article | Single-Phase Virtual-Ground Transformerless Buck-Boost Inverters | This article presents a new family of transformerless buck-boost voltage-source inverter topologies for photovoltaic systems. Due to variations in irradiance, temperature, and shading effects, the terminal voltages of photovoltaic panels can vary, making the use of buck-boost inverters crucial. The proposed topologies have a virtual-ground feature that effectively mitigates the common-mode voltage issue and results in low leakage current. The simple inductor-based proposed inverter can achieve a wide gain range. Also, other counterparts obtained from extending the underlying concept of the simple inductor-based proposed inverter, such as the switched inductor, three-winding coupled inductor, and series capacitor converters, are capable of achieving high boost voltage gain with lower duty ratios. Comprehensive circuit analyses are provided, along with simulation results, to confirm the operation of each proposed topology. Additionally, experiment findings for a 500-W prototype built on the simple inductor topology are presented to support the theoretical analysis and effectiveness of the proposed designs. | Akbar, Fazal; Elkhateb, Ahmad; Ahmed, Hafiz Furqan; Khan, Ashraf Ali; Cha, Honnyong; Park, Jung-Wook | Queens Univ, Sch Elect Elect Engn & Comp Sci, Belfast BT9 5AH, North Ireland; Natl Sun Yat Sen Univ, Dept Elect Engn, Kaohsiung 804, Taiwan; Mem Univ Newfoundland, Dept Elect & Comp Engn, St John, NF A1C 5S7, Canada; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Sch Energy Engn, Daegu 41566, South Korea; Yonsei Univ, Dept Elect & Elect Engn, Seoul 03722, South Korea | Khan, Ashraf/IXW-6751-2023; akbar, fazal/AAU-7197-2020; Elkhateb, Ahmad/L-9528-2017; Park, Jungwook/KLF-6334-2024 | 57194409251; 59297903900; 56735445800; 56341377400; 24450248400; 34873006100 | f.akbar@qub.ac.uk;a.elkhateb@qub.ac.uk;hfahmed@mail.ee.nsysu.edu.tw;ashrafak@mun.ca;chahonny@knu.ac.kr;jungpark@yonsei.ac.kr; | IEEE TRANSACTIONS ON POWER ELECTRONICS | IEEE T POWER ELECTR | 0885-8993 | 1941-0107 | 38 | 9 | SCIE | ENGINEERING, ELECTRICAL & ELECTRONIC | 2023 | 6.6 | 10.9 | 1.22 | 2025-06-25 | 11 | 10 | Photovoltaic systems; power semiconductor devices; pulse width modulation; voltage source inverters | GRID-CONNECTED INVERTER; HIGH-FREQUENCY; CONVERTER; INDUCTOR | Photovoltaic systems; power semiconductor devices; pulse width modulation; voltage source inverters | Buck-Boost converter; Electric inductors; Electric inverters; Leakage currents; Photovoltaic effects; Boost voltage; Buck boost inverter; Buck-boost; Inductor; Inverter; Simple++; Single phasis; Transformer; Transformerless; Voltage source inverter; Topology | English | 2023 | 2023-09 | 10.1109/tpel.2023.3283927 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | |
| ○ | ○ | Article | Triple-Mode Wide-Input Range Resonant DC-DC Converter With Extended Asymmetric Modulation | This article proposes a triple-mode resonant converter operating over a wide input voltage range for renewable energy harvesting applications. The proposed converter operates in a pure series-resonant mode with a nominal input voltage, an asymmetric resonant boost mode with a low-input voltage, and an asymmetric pulse-width-modulation series-resonant buck mode with a high-input voltage. This converter adopts an asymmetric half-bridge-type voltage-doubler to reduce the transformer turns ratio and number of active components. Moreover, its extended asymmetric modulation reduces hard switching turn-on losses compared to conventional symmetric modulations. Consequently, the proposed converter attains high power conversion efficiency and power density over a wide input voltage range. The operating principles and steady-state analysis are presented in detail herein. Finally, a 300-W/380-V prototype is presented to validate the feasibility of the proposed converter over an input voltage range of 30-60 V. | Kim, Sangoh; Cho, Junseong; Kim, Jong-Woo; Kim, Minsung; Han, Byeongcheol | Kyungpook Natl Univ, Sch Elect & Elect Engn, Daegu 41566, South Korea; Hanwha Solut, Syst Dev Ctr, Daegu 41756, South Korea; Konkuk Univ, Dept Elect & Elect Engn, Seoul 05029, South Korea; Dongguk Univ, Div Elect & Elect Engn, Seoul 04620, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Sch Elect Engn, Daegu, South Korea | ; Han, Byeongcheol/W-7608-2019 | 57445691100; 58128088700; 50061611900; 57201445330; 57188622752 | aks4539@knu.ac.kr;Junseong.Cho@qcells.com;jongwookim@konkuk.ac.kr;mkim@dgu.ac.kr;hbychol@knu.ac.kr; | IEEE TRANSACTIONS ON POWER ELECTRONICS | IEEE T POWER ELECTR | 0885-8993 | 1941-0107 | 38 | 6 | SCIE | ENGINEERING, ELECTRICAL & ELECTRONIC | 2023 | 6.6 | 10.9 | 0.37 | 2025-06-25 | 1 | 3 | Voltage; Switches; Resonant converters; Transformers; RLC circuits; Capacitors; High-voltage techniques; Asymmetric modulation; buck-boost converter; isolated resonant converter; renewable energy; soft switching | FLYBACK CONVERTER; SWITCH | Asymmetric modulation; buck-boost converter; isolated resonant converter; renewable energy; soft switching | Boost converter; Buck-Boost converter; Conversion efficiency; DC transformers; Electric inverters; Energy harvesting; Resonant circuits; Asymmetric modulations; Buck/boost converters; High voltage techniques; Isolated resonant converter; Renewable energies; Resonant converters; RLC circuit; Soft-switching; Transformer; Timing circuits | English | 2023 | 2023-06 | 10.1109/tpel.2023.3245622 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | |
| ○ | ○ | Review | Kidney complications associated with COVID-19 infection and vaccination in children and adolescents: a brief review | Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has spread considerably across the globe, affecting numerous children and adolescents besides adults. Despite its relatively lower incidence rates in children and adolescents than in adults, some infected children and adolescents exhibit a severe postinflammatory response known as multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children, followed by acute kidney injury, a common complication. Meanwhile, few reports have been available regarding kidney complications such as idiopathic nephrotic syndrome and other glomerulopathies associated with COVID-19 infection and vaccination in children and adolescents. However, the morbidity and mortality of these complications are not exceptionally high; more importantly, causality has yet to be clearly established. Finally, vaccine hesitancy in these age groups should be addressed, considering the strong evidence of COVID-19 vaccine safety and efficacy. | Baek, Hee Sun; Cho, Min Hyun | Yeungnam Univ, Dept Pediat, Coll Med, Daegu, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Sch Med, Dept Pediat, Daegu, South Korea | 56689379700; 7401727726 | chomh@knu.ac.kr; | CLINICAL AND EXPERIMENTAL PEDIATRICS | CLIN EXP PEDIATR | 2713-4148 | 66 | 10 | ESCI | PEDIATRICS | 2023 | 3.2 | 11.0 | 0.73 | 2025-06-25 | 4 | 4 | COVID-19; Child; Acute kidney injury; Nephrotic syndrome; Vaccination | MULTISYSTEM INFLAMMATORY SYNDROME; IGA NEPHROPATHY; PEDIATRIC-PATIENTS; HEMATURIA; INJURY | Acute kidney injury; Child; COVID-19; Ne-phrotic syndrome; Vaccination | amino terminal pro brain natriuretic peptide; angiotensin converting enzyme 2; corticosteroid; creatine kinase; creatinine; elasomeran; ferritin; hypertensive agent; procalcitonin; tozinameran; troponin; vaxzevria; acute kidney failure; adolescent; asthma; autism; CD8+ T lymphocyte; child; coronavirus disease 2019; cytokine release; drug efficacy; drug safety; epilepsy; female; glomerulonephritis; glomerulopathy; hematuria; human; hyperlipidemia; hypovolemia; immunoglobulin A nephropathy; insulin dependent diabetes mellitus; intensive care unit; interstitial nephritis; ischemia; kidney disease; male; morbidity; mortality; myocarditis; nephrotic syndrome; obesity; pediatric multisystem inflammatory syndrome; pneumonia; proteinuria; renal replacement therapy; respiratory distress; Review; risk factor; seizure; vaccination; vaccine hesitancy; vasculitis | English | 2023 | 2023-10 | 10.3345/cep.2023.00738 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | |||

| ○ | ○ | Article | Unnecessity of routine chest tube drainage after patent ductus arteriosus ligation in preterm neonates | Background Conventionally, a chest tube drainage is placed following patent ductus arteriosus (PDA) ligation to monitor possible bleeding and drain air or effusion postoperatively. However, the necessity of chest tube drainage after thoracotomy in PDA ligation is controversial. We evaluated the feasibility and safety of omitting chest tube drainage in preterm neonates who underwent PDA ligation via thoracotomy. Methods We retrospectively reviewed the medical records of 56 preterm neonates who underwent surgical ligation of PDA via thoracotomy in the neonatal intensive care unit between January 2014 and March 2022.Results The median gestational age was 26.9 (interquartile range [IQR]: 25.9-28.8) weeks and the median body weight at birth was 895 (IQR: 795-1190) g. The median age on the day of surgery was 17.0 (IQR: 10.0-22.0) days and the median body weight on the day of surgery was 1100 (IQR: 958-1410) g. The median operative time was 44.5 (IQR: 35.5-54.0) minutes. There were no intraoperative events or procedure-related deaths. On postoperative chest radiographs, no patients had major complications, such as pneumothorax or hemothorax. Nineteen patients (34%) had minor complications of subcutaneous emphysema around the thoracotomy site. No patients required additional chest tube drainage for postoperative bleeding, pleural effusion, or progressive subcutaneous emphysema. No patients had surgical wound infections. There were seven in-hospital mortalities, which were unrelated to the surgery. Conclusions Omitting chest tube drainage is feasible and safe for the postoperative management of preterm neonates undergoing PDA ligation via thoracotomy. | Lee, Youngok; Jung, Hanna | Kyungpook Natl Univ, Kyungpook Natl Univ Hosp, Sch Med, Dept Thorac & Cardiovasc Surg, 130 Dongdeok Ro, Daegu 41944, South Korea | ; Jung, Hanna/Y-4165-2019 | 36461117600; 56467570700 | navybluesail@knu.ac.kr; | ITALIAN JOURNAL OF PEDIATRICS | ITAL J PEDIATR | 1720-8424 | 1824-7288 | 49 | 1 | SCIE | PEDIATRICS | 2023 | 3.2 | 11.0 | 0.33 | 2025-06-25 | 1 | 1 | Drainage; Intensive care unit; Neonate; Patent ductus arteriosus; Preterm birth; Thoracotomy | THORACOSCOPIC WEDGE RESECTION; PLACEMENT | Drainage; Intensive care unit; Neonate; Patent ductus arteriosus; Preterm birth; Thoracotomy | Chest Tubes; Drainage; Ductus Arteriosus, Patent; Humans; Infant; Infant, Newborn; Infant, Premature; Retrospective Studies; Subcutaneous Emphysema; Treatment Outcome; Article; body weight; controlled study; feasibility study; female; gestational age; hematothorax; human; in-hospital mortality; ligation; major clinical study; male; medical record review; neonatal intensive care unit; newborn; operation duration; patent ductus arteriosus; patient safety; peroperative care; pleura effusion; pneumothorax; postoperative hemorrhage; prematurity; retrospective study; subcutaneous emphysema; surgical drainage; surgical infection; thoracotomy; thorax radiography; unnecessary procedure; infant; prematurity; subcutaneous emphysema; treatment outcome | English | 2023 | 2023-10-20 | 10.1186/s13052-023-01548-y | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | |
| ○ | Article | Urine Exosomal bkv-miR-B1-5p and BK Virus Nephropathy in Kidney Transplant Recipients | Background. Urine exosomal bkv-miR-B1-5p is associated with BK virus (BKV) nephropathy (BKVN); however, its posttransplantation changes and predictability for BKVN have not been determined in kidney transplant recipients (KTRs). Methods. Urine exosomal bkv-miR-B1-5p and urine and plasma BKV DNA were measured at 2 weeks and 3, 6, and 12 months posttransplant in 83 KTRs stratified into biopsy-proven or presumptive BKVN, BKV viruria, and no evidence of BKV reactivation. Joint model, multivariable Cox model and receiver operating characteristic curve (ROC) were used to investigate the association of each assay with the following events: a composite of biopsy-proven or presumptive BKVN, and biopsy-proven BKVN. Results. Urine exosomal bkv-miR-B1-5p and urine and plasma BKV DNA showed similar posttransplant time-course changes. Joint models incorporating serial values demonstrated significant associations of all assays with the events, and Cox analyses using single time point values at 2 weeks posttransplant showed that only urine exosomal bkv-miR-B1-5p was significantly associated with the events, although it did not outperform urine BKV DNA in ROC analyses. Conclusions. Urine exosomal bkv-miR-B1-5p was associated with BKVN as were urine and plasma BKV DNA loads on serial follow-up, and might have potential as a predictive marker for BKVN during the early posttransplant period. | Jung, Su Woong; Cho, Won-Hee; Seo, Jung-Woo; Kim, Yang-Gyun; Moon, Ju-Young; Kim, Jin Sug; Kim, Chan-Duck; Chung, Byung Ha; Park, Jae Berm; Kim, Yeong Hoon; Lee, Sang-Ho | Kyung Hee Univ, Div Nephrol, Dept Internal Med, Coll Med, Seoul, South Korea; Sahmyook Med Ctr, Dept Internal Med, Div Nephrol, Seoul, South Korea; Kyung Hee Univ Hosp Gangdong, Med Sci Inst, Core Res Lab, Seoul, South Korea; Kyung Hee Univ, Div Nephrol, Dept Internal Med, Med Ctr, Seoul, South Korea; Kyung Pook Natl Univ, Div Nephrol, Dept Internal Med, Sch Med, Daegu, South Korea; Catholic Univ Korea, Seoul St Marys Hosp, Div Nephrol, Dept Internal Med,Coll Med, Seoul, South Korea; Samsung Med Ctr, Dept Surg, Seoul, South Korea; Busan Paik Hosp, Div Nephrol, Dept Internal Med, Busan, South Korea; Kyung Hee Univ Hosp Gangdong, Dept Internal Med, Seoul, South Korea | , Prof/W-5371-2019; Kim, Jin Sug/AAY-6890-2021; Moon, Ju-Young/T-6959-2019; Jung, Su Woong/ABB-6914-2021; Kim, Hyoungnae/JXN-1329-2024; Kim, Tae-Hee/AAN-9079-2021; KIM, YANG/AAI-9821-2020 | lshkidney@khu.ac.kr; | JOURNAL OF INFECTIOUS DISEASES | J INFECT DIS | 0022-1899 | 1537-6613 | 227 | 10 | SCIE | IMMUNOLOGY;INFECTIOUS DISEASES;MICROBIOLOGY | 2023 | 5 | 11.0 | 11 | urine exosome; BK virus microRNA; BK virus DNA load; BK virus nephropathy; kidney transplantation | NONINVASIVE DIAGNOSIS; POLYOMAVIRUS BK; MESSENGER-RNA; REPLICATION; IDENTIFICATION; VP1 | English | 2023 | 2023-05 | 10.1093/infdis/jiac440 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | |||||||||
| ○ | Article | Accurate Spin-Orbit Coupling by Relativistic Mixed-Reference Spin-Flip-TDDFT | Relativistic mixed-reference spin-flip (MRSF)-TDDFT is developed considering the spin-orbit coupling (SOC) within the mean-field approximation. The resulting SOC-MRSF faithfully reproduces the experiments with very high accuracy, which is also consistent with the values by four-component (4c) relativistic CASSCF and 4c-CASPT2 in the spin-orbit-energy splitting calculations of the C, Si, and Ge atoms. Even for the fifth-row element Sn, the SOC-MRSF yielded accurate splittings (∼ 3 % error). In the SOC calculations of the molecular 4-thiothymine with a third-row element, SOC-MRSF values are in excellent agreement with those of the SO-GMC-QDPT2 level, regardless of geometries and exchange-correlation functionals. The same SOC-MRSF predicted the anticipated chance of S1 (nπ*) → T1 (ππ*) intersystem crossing, even in thymine with only second-row elements. With its accuracy and practicality, thus, SOC-MRSF is a promising electronic structure protocol in challenging situations such as nonadiabatic molecular dynamics (NAMD) incorporating both internal conversions and intersystem crossings in large systems. © 2023 American Chemical Society. | Komarov, Konstantin; Park, Woojin; Lee, Seunghoon; Zeng, Tao; Choi, Cheol Ho | Center for Quantum Dynamics, Pohang University of Science and Technology, Pohang, 37673, South Korea; Department of Chemistry, Kyungpook National University, Daegu, 41566, South Korea; Division of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, California Institute of Technology, Pasadena, 91125, CA, United States; Department of Chemistry, York University, Toronto, M3J 1P3, ON, Canada; Department of Chemistry, Kyungpook National University, Daegu, 41566, South Korea | 57193073953; 57223952329; 57194591254; 58038551800; 7402958948 | slee89@caltech.edu;tzeng@yorku.ca;cchoi@knu.ac.kr; | Journal of Chemical Theory and Computation | J CHEM THEORY COMPUT | 1549-9618 | 1549-9626 | 19 | 3 | SCIE | CHEMISTRY, PHYSICAL;PHYSICS, ATOMIC, MOLECULAR & CHEMICAL | 2023 | 5.7 | 11.2 | 2.01 | 2025-06-25 | 15 | English | Final | 2023 | 10.1021/acs.jctc.2c01036 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | |||||||||
| ○ | ○ | Article | Analytic Gradient for Time-Dependent Density Functional Theory Combined with the Fragment Molecular Orbital Method | The analytic energy gradient of energy with respect to nuclear coordinates is derived for the fragment molecular orbital (FMO) method combined with time-dependent density functional theory (TDDFT). The response terms arising from the use of a polarizable embedding are derived. The obtained analytic FMOTDDFT gradient is shown to be accurate in comparison to both numerical FMO-TDDFT and unfragmented TDDFT gradients, at the level of two-and three-body expansions. The gradients are used for geometry optimizations, molecular dynamics, vibrational calculations, and simulations of IR and Raman spectra of excited states. The developed method is used to optimize the geometry of the ground and excited electronic states of the photoactive yellow protein (PDB: 2PHY). | Nakata, Hiroya; Fedorov, Dmitri G. | Kyungpook Natl Univ, Dept Chem, Daegu 41566, South Korea; Natl Inst Adv Ind Sci & Technol, Res Ctr Comp Design Adv Funct Mat CD FMat, Tsukuba 3058568, Japan | 55305767500; 56842563500 | nakata.hiro07@gmail.com;d.g.fedorov@aist.go.jp; | JOURNAL OF CHEMICAL THEORY AND COMPUTATION | J CHEM THEORY COMPUT | 1549-9618 | 1549-9626 | 19 | 4 | SCIE | CHEMISTRY, PHYSICAL;PHYSICS, ATOMIC, MOLECULAR & CHEMICAL | 2023 | 5.7 | 11.2 | 0.81 | 2025-06-25 | 6 | 6 | CONFIGURATION-INTERACTION; GEOMETRY OPTIMIZATIONS; DYNAMICS SIMULATIONS; ENERGY; EXCHANGE; TDDFT; APPROXIMATION; EXCITATIONS; SCHEME; DFT | English | 2023 | 2023-02-28 | 10.1021/acs.jctc.2c01177 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | |||||

| ○ | ○ | Article | Doubly Tuned Exchange-Correlation Functionals for Mixed-Reference Spin-Flip Time-Dependent Density Functional Theory | It is demonstrated that significant accuracy improvements in MRSF-TDDFT can be achieved by introducing two different exchange-correlation (XC) functionals for the reference Kohn-Sham DFT and the response part of the calculations, respectively. Accordingly, two new XC functionals of doubly tuned Coulomb attenuated method-vertical excitation energy (DTCAM-VEE) and DTCAM-AEE were developed on the basis of the "adaptive exact exchange (AEE)" concept in the framework of the Coulomb-attenuating XC functionals. The values by DTCAM-VEE are in excellent agreement with those of Thiel's set [mean absolute errors (MAEs) and the interquartile range (IQR) values of 0.218 and 0.327 eV, respectively]. On the other hand, DTCAM-AEE faithfully reproduced the qualitative aspects of conical intersections (CIs) of trans-butadiene and thymine and the nonadiabatic molecular dynamics (NAMD) simulations on thymine. The latter functional also remarkably exhibited the exact 1/R asymptotic behavior of the charge-transfer state of an ethylene-tetrafluoroethylene dimer and the accurate potential energy surfaces (PESs) along the two torsional angles of retinal protonated Schiff base model with six double bonds (rPSB6). Overall, DTCAM-AEE generally performs well, as its MAE (0.237) and IQR (0.41 eV) are much improved as compared to BH&HLYP. The current idea can also be applied to other XC functionals as well as other variants of linear response theories, opening a new way of developing XC functionals. | Komarov, Konstantin; Park, Woojin; Lee, Seunghoon; Huix-Rotllant, Miquel; Choi, Cheol Ho | Pohang Univ Sci & Technol, Ctr Quantum Dynam, Pohang 37673, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Dept Chem, Daegu 41566, South Korea; Seoul Natl Univ, Dept Chem, Seoul 151747, South Korea; Aix Marseille Univ, CNRS, ICR, F-13397 Marseille, France | Huix-Rotllant, Miquel/J-3291-2016; Komarov, Konstantin/P-6466-2017; Lee, Seunghoon/AAB-4846-2021 | 57193073953; 57223952329; 57194591254; 25634188900; 7402958948 | seunghoonlee@snu.ac.kr;miquel.huix-rotllant@cnrs.fr;cchoi@knu.ac.kr; | JOURNAL OF CHEMICAL THEORY AND COMPUTATION | J CHEM THEORY COMPUT | 1549-9618 | 1549-9626 | 19 | 21 | SCIE | CHEMISTRY, PHYSICAL;PHYSICS, ATOMIC, MOLECULAR & CHEMICAL | 2023 | 5.7 | 11.2 | 1.21 | 2025-06-25 | 9 | 9 | POTENTIAL-ENERGY SURFACES; GENERALIZED GRADIENT APPROXIMATION; DYNAMIC ELECTRON CORRELATION; TRANSFER EXCITED-STATES; MOTION COUPLED-CLUSTER; CONICAL INTERSECTIONS; DOUBLE EXCITATIONS; NONCOVALENT INTERACTIONS; ACCURATE DESCRIPTIONS; NONBOND INTERACTIONS | English | 2023 | 2023-10-16 | 10.1021/acs.jctc.3c00884 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 |
