| ○ | Conference paper | Multifunctional Chiral Meta-Platform for Dynamic Spin-Encoded Phase Multiplexing | Recently, chiral metasurfaces have been designed for numerous applications in flat optics and photonics, specifically in encrypted displays, imaging, and sensing. Here, we proposed a reflective multifunctional dielectric chiral metasurface integrated with liquid crystal modulator incorporating the ability for spin-encoded phase multiplexing based on the dynamic switching of input and output polarization of visible light. Moreover, the chiral meta-platform reproduces two distinct phase profiles with simultaneous control on its cross and co-polarized component for one-handedness of incident circularly polarized light. © 2023, META Conference. | ○ | Article | MULTIPLE-SESSION SUBTHRESHOLD MICROPULSE LASER THERAPY FOR EXUDATIVE PERIFOVEAL VASCULAR ANOMALOUS COMPLEX: A CASE REPORT | Purpose:To report a case of exudative perifoveal vascular anomalous complex treated with a 532-nm subthreshold micropulse laser unresponsive to intravitreal injections. Methods:A case report. Results:A 65-year-old woman presented with blurred vision in the left eye for 1 month. An isolated perifoveal aneurysm surrounded by retinal hemorrhages and hard exudates was revealed in fundus examination, and optical coherent tomography showed a round lesion with a hyperreflective wall, subretinal fluid, and an intraretinal cyst. She was diagnosed with exudative perifoveal vascular anomalous complex and received four intravitreal injections. However, her best-corrected visual acuity decreased, and an aneurysmal lesion with macular edema persisted for approximately 6 months. Three sessions of 532-nm subthreshold micropulse laser therapy around the aneurysm were applied because the intravitreal injection treatment was ineffective. Since the last session, macular edema disappeared, the involuted lesion remained substantially stable without recurrence, and her best-corrected visual acuity improved without visual field defect. Conclusion:To our knowledge, this is the first report of a successful subthreshold micropulse laser treatment for an exudative perifoveal vascular anomalous complex lesion, and it could be a safe and effective method for the patient unresponsive to intravitreal injections. © 2023 Lippincott Williams and Wilkins. | ○ | Article | Nano-decolorization of methylene blue by Phyllanthus reticulatus iron nanoparticles: an eco-friendly synthesis and its antimicrobial, phytotoxicity study | The present study was investigated to synthesis the iron nanoparticles (FeNPs) using the leaf extract of Phyllanthus reticulatus. The phytosynthesized FeNPs exhibited UV–visible absorption peaks at 229 nm and its crystalline nature was confirmed through XRD. FT-IR analysis revealed the presence of various functional groups which are responsible for the bioreduction of FeNPs. The SEM results showed that FeNPs were aggregated, irregular sphere shaped with rough surfaces and EDX spectrum recorded densely occupied iron nanoparticles region. The particle size range of the synthesized iron nanoparticles was 185.6 nm. The FeNPs showed potential methylene blue decolourisation activity which was visually observed by gradual colour change in the dye solution from deep blue to colorless. The control exhibited no change in coloration during exposure to sunlight and the iron nanoparticles completely disintegrated the methylene blue within 10 s in 10 mg/L methylene blue (98%), whereas the color change was decreased when the concentration of the dye increased. In addition, the phyto-synthesized FeNPs exhibited extensive antibacterial and antifungal activity against the selected pathogens. Phytotoxicity assay confirms the potential of biosynthesized iron nanoparticles as a fertilizer for the growth of green gram seeds. Thus the present study leads to development of cost-effective green synthesis, reduction of toxic chemicals and its extensive applications in the biological sciences. © 2021, King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology. | Dharshini, Rajathirajan Siva; Poonkothai, Mani; Srinivasan, Palanisamy; Mythili, Raja; Syed, Asad; Elgorban, Abdallah M.; Selvankumar, Thangasamy; Kim, Woong | Department of Zoology, Avinashilingam Institute for Home Science and Higher Education for Women, Tamil Nadu, Coimbatore, India, Department of Genetic Engineering, Molecular Genetics Laboratory, School of Bioengineering, SRM Institute of Engineering and Technology, Kattankulathur, Kanchipuram, Tamilnadu, Chennai, 603203, India; Department of Zoology, Avinashilingam Institute for Home Science and Higher Education for Women, Tamil Nadu, Coimbatore, India; PG & Research Department of Biotechnology, Mahendra Arts and Science College (Autonomous), Tamil Nadu, Kalippatti, Namakkal, 637501, India; PG & Research Department of Biotechnology, Mahendra Arts and Science College (Autonomous), Tamil Nadu, Kalippatti, Namakkal, 637501, India; Department of Botany and Microbiology, College of Science, King Saud University, 2455, Riyadh, 11451, Saudi Arabia; Department of Botany and Microbiology, College of Science, King Saud University, 2455, Riyadh, 11451, Saudi Arabia; PG & Research Department of Biotechnology, Mahendra Arts and Science College (Autonomous), Tamil Nadu, Kalippatti, Namakkal, 637501, India; Department of Environmental Engineering, Kyungpook National University, Daegu, South Korea | 57216222715; 10538852200; 57190217427; 56765761500; 7102981889; 55353581000; 24485017700; 55581636400 | poonkothaii_zoo@avinuty.ac.in;elshine@knu.ac.kr; | Applied Nanoscience (Switzerland) | 2190-5509 | 13 | 3 | 2.55 | 2025-06-25 | 21 | Antimicrobial activity; Iron nanoparticles; Photocatalytic activity; Phyllanthus reticulatus; Phytotoxic activity | Aromatic compounds; Cost effectiveness; Iron; Microorganisms; Nanoparticles; Particle size; Particle size analysis; Photocatalytic activity; Anti-microbial activity; Color changes; Decolourization; Iron nanoparticles; Methylene Blue; Photocatalytic activities; Phyllanthu reticulatu; Phyllanthus; Phytotoxic activity; Synthesised; Synthesis (chemical) | English | Final | 2023 | 10.1007/s13204-021-02002-3 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | |||||||||||||||
| ○ | Article | Natural Speed Planning for Connected Car Using Slack Variable within Social Norm | In recent years, studies on natural behavior planning for autonomous vehicles have been popular in both the academia and the industry. This study proposes receding-horizon control, framework-based vehicle speed planning. Using a sufficiently long prediction horizon, our approach is aimed at a smoothed velocity trajectory, reducing the entire trip time by passing the traffic light properly. Moreover, the proposed method mimics a human driver naturally in terms of driving styles (i.e., conservative, general, and aggressive behaviors), In the view of the social norm, the planned speed from our approach sometimes exceeds the specified speed limit, but it does not violate strict traffic rules. In this manner, the controlled, connected, and automated vehicle behaves as human drivers do in their daily driving. Specifically, we impose a slack variable to the proposed control framework when upcoming traffic information is available, so that the vehicle can pass the traffic signal at the yellow light phase. By relaxing state constraints, the test results in this paper show a reduction in trip time and fuel consumption. | ○ | ○ | Article | Neural Network-Based State of Charge Estimation Method for Lithium-ion Batteries Based on Temperature | Lithium-ion batteries are commonly used in electric vehicles, mobile phones, and laptops. These batteries demonstrate several advantages, such as environmental friendliness, high energy density, and long life. However, battery overcharging and overdischarging may occur if the batteries are not monitored continuously. Overcharging causes fire and explosion casualties, and overdischarging causes a reduction in the battery capacity and life. In addition, the internal resistance of such batteries varies depending on their external temperature, electrolyte, cathode material, and other factors; the capacity of the batteries decreases with temperature. In this study, we develop a method for estimating the state of charge (SOC) using a neural network model that is best suited to the external temperature of such batteries based on their characteristics. During our simulation, we acquired data at temperatures of 25 degrees C, 30 degrees C, 35 degrees C, and 40 degrees C. Based on the temperature parameters, the voltage, current, and time parameters were obtained, and six cycles of the parameters based on the temperature were used for the experiment. Experimental data to verify the proposed method were obtained through a discharge experiment conducted using a vehicle driving simulator. The experimental data were provided as inputs to three types of neural network models: multi layer neural network (MNN), long short-term memory (LSTM), and gated recurrent unit (GRU). The neural network models were trained and optimized for the specific temperatures measured during the experiment, and the SOC was estimated by selecting the most suitable model for each temperature. The experimental results revealed that the mean absolute errors of the MNN, LSTM, and GRU using the proposed method were 2.17%, 2.19%, and 2.15%, respectively, which are better than those of the conventional method (4.47%, 4.60%, and 4.40%). Finally, SOC estimation based on GRU using the proposed method was found to be 2.15%, which was the most accurate. | Wang, Donghun; Lee, Jonghyun; Kim, Minchan; Lee, Insoo | Kyungpook Natl Univ, Sch Elect & Elect Engn, Daegu 41566, South Korea | 57336497500; 57201265019; 58061974000; 54979862300 | insoolee@knu.ac.kr; | INTELLIGENT AUTOMATION AND SOFT COMPUTING | 1079-8587 | 2326-005X | 36 | 2 | 0.45 | 2025-06-25 | 4 | 4 | Lithium -ion battery; state of charge; multilayer neural network; long; short-term memory; gated recurrent unit; vehicle driving simulator | gated recurrent unit; Lithium-ion battery; long short-term memory; multilayer neural network; state of charge; vehicle driving simulator | English | 2023 | 2023 | 10.32604/iasc.2023.034749 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | |||||||||||
| ○ | ○ | Review | Nitric Oxide, a Key Modulator in the Alleviation of Environmental Stress-Mediated Damage in Crop Plants: A Meta-Analysis | Nitric oxide (NO) is a small, diatomic, gaseous, free radicle, lipophilic, diffusible, and highly reactive molecule with unique properties that make it a crucial signaling molecule with important physiological, biochemical, and molecular implications for plants under normal and stressful conditions. NO regulates plant growth and developmental processes, such as seed germination, root growth, shoot development, and flowering. It is also a signaling molecule in various plant growth processes, such as cell elongation, differentiation, and proliferation. NO also regulates the expression of genes encoding hormones and signaling molecules associated with plant development. Abiotic stresses induce NO production in plants, which can regulate various biological processes, such as stomatal closure, antioxidant defense, ion homeostasis, and the induction of stress-responsive genes. Moreover, NO can activate plant defense response mechanisms, such as the production of pathogenesis-related proteins, phytohormones, and metabolites against biotic and oxidative stressors. NO can also directly inhibit pathogen growth by damaging their DNA and proteins. Overall, NO exhibits diverse regulatory roles in plant growth, development, and defense responses through complex molecular mechanisms that still require further studies. Understanding NO's role in plant biology is essential for developing strategies for improved plant growth and stress tolerance in agriculture and environmental management. | Khan, Murtaza; Al Azzawi, Tiba Nazar Ibrahim; Ali, Sajid; Yun, Byung-Wook; Mun, Bong-Gyu | Yeungnam Univ, Dept Hort & Life Sci, Gyongsan 38541, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Dept Appl Biosci, Daegu 41566, South Korea | ; Mun, BongGyu/GYD-6010-2022; Ali, Sajid/GLS-7322-2022 | 57207990116; 57224980187; 57214290889; 8245123600; 57147241300 | redflower660@yahoo.com;mbg@knu.ac.kr; | PLANTS-BASEL | 2223-7747 | 12 | 11 | 0.79 | 2025-06-25 | 11 | 12 | nitric oxide; plant responses; biotic stress; abiotic stress; biological processes; redox biology | SODIUM-NITROPRUSSIDE; SIGNALING MOLECULES; ANTIOXIDANT DEFENSE; NITRATE REDUCTASE; DROUGHT STRESS; TOMATO PLANTS; ACID; POLYAMINES; WHEAT; MECHANISMS | abiotic stress; biological processes; biotic stress; nitric oxide; plant responses; redox biology | English | 2023 | 2023-05-26 | 10.3390/plants12112121 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | ||||||||||

| ○ | Conference paper | Novel Scheduling Methodology for Battery Wear Function Considering DoD-SoC Level | Energy storage-based applications including Vehicle-to-grid (V2G) service are highly dependent on an accurate battery degradation model. An appropriate wear model contributes to reducing the capacity loss for energy storage scheduling. In this work, the proposed model fully adopts battery wear according to depth of discharge (DoD) for each state-of-charge (SoC) level as a multi-objective function. This model is formulated with mixed-integer linear programming to derive an optimal solution without sacrificing other objectives. In addition, this model maintains low complexity without being affected by the number of EVs by clustering technique-based EV scheduling. The proposed methodology was verified through a case study that battery degradation was considered as a multi-objective function. In addition, it was possible to reduce the battery capacity decrease by more than 30% in a simulation for one month. © 2023 IEEE. | Seo, Mingyu; Park, Jeongju; Son, Hyeongyu; Han, Sekyung | Kyungpook National University, Department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering, Daegu, South Korea; Kyungpook National University, Department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering, Daegu, South Korea; Kyungpook National University, Department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering, Daegu, South Korea; Kyungpook National University, Department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering, Daegu, South Korea | 57215358477; 57964023800; 58165869800; 36023785800 | 2023 13th International Conference on Power, Energy and Electrical Engineering, CPEEE 2023 | 0.81 | 2025-06-25 | 1 | battery degradation; clustering; depth of discharge; electric vehicle; mixed-integer programming | Charging (batteries); Integer programming; Secondary batteries; Vehicle-to-grid; Wear of materials; Battery degradation; Clusterings; Degradation model; Depth of discharges; Discharge state; Mixed-Integer Programming; Multi-objective functions; States of charges; Vehicle to Grid (V2G); Wear function; Energy storage | English | Final | 2023 | 10.1109/cpeee56777.2023.10217644 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | |||||||||||||||||||
| ○ | Conference paper | Novel Virtual-Ground Single-Phase Buck-Boost Inverter | Due to variations in irradiance, temperature, and shading effect, the terminal voltages of photovoltaic panels are variable and therefore buck-boost inverters are required. This article presents a new buck-boost voltage-source inverter (VSI) topology. The proposed VSI is transformerless and has virtual-ground feature, which in terms mitigate the common-mode voltage issue of transformerless inverters and thus resulting in low leakage current. Detailed circuit analysis is provided based on the proposed modulation strategy in which four switches operate at line frequency and hence high power conversion efficiency can be realized. Furthermore, experimental results are provided with 500 W prototype in support of theoretical analysis and effectiveness of the proposed inverter. © 2023 The Korean Institute of Power Electronics. | Akbar, Fazal; Elgenedy, Mohamed; Elkhateb, Ahmad; Cha, Honnyong; Park, Jung-Wook | Queen's University, School of Electronics, Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, Belfast, United Kingdom; Glasgow Caledonian University, School of Computing, Engineering and Built Environment, United Kingdom; Queen's University, School of Electronics, Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, Belfast, United Kingdom; Kyungpook National University, School of Energy Engineering, Daegu, South Korea; Yonsei University, School of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Seoul, South Korea | 57194409251; 55647939000; 59297903900; 24450248400; 34873006100 | a.elkhateb@qub.ac.uk; | ICPE 2023-ECCE Asia - 11th International Conference on Power Electronics - ECCE Asia: Green World with Power Electronics | 0.65 | 2025-06-25 | 1 | Buck-boost function; common-mode voltage; transformerless inverter; virtual-ground | Conversion efficiency; Electric inverters; Leakage currents; Power electronics; Buck boost inverter; Buck-boost; Buck-boost function; Common mode voltage; Shading effect; Single phasis; Transformerless inverters; Virtual-ground; Voltage source inverter; Voltage-source inverter; Photovoltaic effects | English | Final | 2023 | 10.23919/icpe2023-ecceasia54778.2023.10213675 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | ||||||||||||||||||
| ○ | ○ | Article | Numerical Analysis of the 200-m Length Borehole Heat Exchanger for the Precise Characterization of Flow Rate and Thermal Properties | PurposeA numerical analysis of a single U-tube of borehole heat exchanger (BHE) in a ground source heat pump (GSHP) system containing ground soil and mortar is required to derive expectations for greenhouse cooling and heating. Compared with the 400-m-long ground heat exchanger (GHE), the 200-m-long GHE requires less installation cost and produces stable thermal energy because it only extracts energy where the temperature is stable, making the thermal energy easier to predict. In this study, numerical analysis was performed on a single BHE U-tube at a depth of 200 m in a GSHP system including soil and grout to be used for greenhouse heating and cooling.MethodsA 3D model of the BHE was created using ANSYS Design Modeler 21.1 software. The BHE consists of a single U-tube, working fluid, grout, and surrounding soil. The fluid flow and heat transfer process within a single U-tube GHE follows the laws of mass, momentum, and energy. ANSYS Fluent 21.1 software, a commercial computational fluid dynamics (CFD) program, was used for the numerical analysis.ResultsIn the cooling condition with the inlet temperature of 308.15 K, the outlet temperatures of 30, 32, 34, and 36 LPM for each volume flow are 301.93, 302.24, 302.52, and 302.77 K, respectively, and the temperature difference is 3.22, 5.91, 50.63, and 5.38 K, respectively. In the heating condition with the inlet temperature of 274.75 K, the outlet temperatures of 30, 32, 34, and 36 LPM for each flow rate are 279.6, 279.35, 279.14, and 278.94 K, respectively, and the temperature difference is 4.85, 4.6, 4.39, and 4.19 K, respectively. The lower the velocity, the higher the inlet and outlet temperature difference. This is because when the flow rate is low, the velocity decreases, and the temperature variation increases. In addition, when the flow rate is high, the velocity increases, and the temperature variation decreases. The heat transfer of 30, 32, 34, and 36 LPM was 12.985, 13.162, 13.319, and 13.468 kW under cooling conditions and 10.109, 10.246, 10.369, and 10.798 kW under heating conditions, respectively. The pressure drops for 30, 32, 34, and 36 LPM are 23.9, 25.872, 27.871, and 31.626 kPa, respectively. As the flow rate increases, the heat transfer increases and the pressure drop also increases. | Choi, Kyeong Sik; Son, Min Jae; Moon, Byeong Eun; Kim, Jungsil; Seonwoo, Hoon | Rural Dev Adm, Natl Inst Agr Sci, Dept Agr Engn, Upland Mechanizat Team, Jeonju 54875, South Korea; Sunchon Natl Univ, Dept Agr Machinery Engn, Sunchon 57922, South Korea; Sunchon Natl Univ, Grad Sch, Dept Aerosp Engn, Sunchon 57922, South Korea; Sunchon Natl Univ, Dept Convergent Biosyst Engn, Sunchon 57922, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Dept Bioind Machinery Engn, Daegu 41566, South Korea; Sunchon Natl Univ, Interdisciplinary Program IT Bio Convergence Syst, Sunchon 57922, South Korea | Choi, Kyeongsik/AAV-9170-2021 | 57211189954; 58790136900; 56070940700; 56523661500; 35424539900 | uhun906@gmail.com; | JOURNAL OF BIOSYSTEMS ENGINEERING | 1738-1266 | 2234-1862 | 48 | 4 | 0.18 | 2025-06-25 | 1 | 1 | Borehole heat exchanger; Computational fluid dynamics; Ground heat exchanger; Heat transfer; Renewable energy | PERFORMANCE; PLATE | Borehole heat exchanger; Computational fluid dynamics; Ground heat exchanger; Heat transfer; Renewable energy | 3D modeling; Boreholes; Cooling; Flow rate; Geothermal heat pumps; Greenhouses; Mortar; Numerical analysis; Pumps; Soils; Temperature distribution; Thermal energy; Tubes (components); Borehole heat exchangers; Greenhouse cooling; Greenhouse heating; Ground heat exchangers; Groundsource heat pump (GSHP); Heat-pump systems; Inlet temperature; Outlet temperature; Renewable energies; Temperature differences; Computational fluid dynamics | English | 2023 | 2023-12 | 10.1007/s42853-023-00205-w | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | ||||||||
| ○ | ○ | Proceedings Paper | Object-Ratio-Preserving Video Retargeting Framework based on Segmentation and Inpainting | The recent development of video-based content platforms led the easy access to videos decades ago. However, some past videos have a old screen ratio. If an image with this ratio is executed on a display with a wider screen ratio, the image is excessively stretched horizontally or creates a black box, which prevents efficient viewing of content. In this paper, we propose a method for retargeting the old ratio video frames to a wider ratio while maintaining the original ratio of important objects in content using deep learning-based semantic segmentation and inpainting techniques. In this study, when the indoor illuminance level was controlled with four set illuminance levels of 300lx, 400lx, 500lx, and 700lx, the visual comfort of lighting users was analyzed as it relates to the measured illuminance value, illuminance preference, eye fatigue, and sensibility based on the brightness questionnaire. Visual sensitivity was derived from the change in the perceived brightness response of a lighting user according to the change in illuminance. As a result of the visual comfort analysis, the illuminance preference desired by occupants differed according to the set illuminance. The lower the setting illuminance, the clearer the tendency to prefer bright illuminance. There was a difference in the degree of eye fatigue affected by various factors. In the case of perceived brightness, it was investigated that as the set illuminance was higher, the perceived brightness at the same overall illuminance was relatively dark. In the case of the set illuminance 700lx, it was found that the illuminance was intuitively perceived as bright. As a result of the occupant's sensitivity analysis according to the change in illuminance, it revealed an illuminance change of 74.9lx (300lx), illuminance change of 63lx (400lx), illuminance change of 111.7lx (500lx), and illuminance change of 51.2lx (700lx). In this case, it was found that the lighting user could visually perceive the change in brightness for the first time. As a result of deriving visual sensitivity through regression analysis, it revealed that the higher the setting illuminance, the lower the visual sensitivity. © 2023, Architectural Institute of Korea. | ○ | ○ | Article | On Autonomous Phase Balancing of the Coplanar Stripline as a Feedline for a Quasi-Yagi Antenna | This paper provides a clear demonstration that a coplanar stripline (CPS) as a balanced line can act to re-establish the phase balance in the presence of phase deviation from a 180 degrees distance between two input signal lines connected to the CPS. A half-wave delay line splitter connected to a CPS works as a balun to feed a balanced antenna, such as a quasi-Yagi antenna. This type of balun structure has been widely used to feed balanced antennas with a frequency bandwidth of up to 60%. Nevertheless, no clear explanation has been given regarding how the broadband antennas could be implemented with this type of balun structure. In this paper, through 3D EM simulations and measurements, it is shown that the half-wave delay line splitter indeed only results in the 180 degrees phase balance at one frequency, but the subsequently connected CPS acts to recover the phase balance between the signal lines. The CPS can recover the phase balance within a phase imbalance of similar to pi/3, which determines the usable bandwidth of this structure. For a demonstration, with a center frequency of 10 GHz, samples of the half-wave delay line splitter connected to a CPS are fabricated and measured. | Lee, Jung-Seok; Min, Byung-Cheol; Kumar, Sachin; Choi, Hyun-Chul; Kim, Kang-Wook | Kyungpook Natl Univ, Sch Elect & Elect Engn, Daegu 41566, South Korea; SRM Inst Sci & Technol, Dept Elect & Commun Engn, Kattankulathur 603203, India | Kumar, Sachin/W-2211-2019; Lee, Jung-Seok/L-6826-2019 | 57218775544; 39161762500; 56907994000; 57193342681; 57204432422 | j.seok1020@knu.ac.kr;minbc4658@knu.ac.kr;sachinkr@srmist.edu.in;hcchoi@ee.knu.ac.kr;kang_kim@ee.knu.ac.kr; | ELECTRONICS | 2079-9292 | 12 | 19 | 0.35 | 2025-06-25 | 3 | 3 | autonomous phase balancing; coplanar stripline; half-wavelength delay line; quasi-Yagi; wideband antenna balun | MICROSTRIP; TRANSITION | autonomous phase balancing; coplanar stripline; half-wavelength delay line; quasi-Yagi; wideband antenna balun | English | 2023 | 2023-10 | 10.3390/electronics12194168 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | ||||||||||
| ○ | ○ | Proceedings Paper | On Real-time Failure Localization via Instance Correlation in Optical Transport Networks | Failure localization serves as a key to an effective fault management plane in the Internet backbone. This paper investigates a novel failure localization approach, namely Instance Correlation based Fault Diagnosis (IC-FD), for achieving efficient fault management in Optical Transport Networks (OTN). The IC-FD is aimed at real-time localization of failed components in the optical layer of OTN through correlation of alarms and status changes of network devices (referred to as instances) via a learned binary classifier. The outcome of IC-FD is one or multiple instance correlation trees (ICT) where the instances corresponding to the faulty network devices are taken as the tree roots. Notably, the proposed binary classifier is characterized by an intelligent feature extraction of historical instance correlation in dimensions of time, board/alarm attribute, network topology, and traffic distribution. Extensive case studies are conducted to demonstrate the advantages gained by IC-FD in terms of its high precision and low computation complexity, as well as analysis of its performance due to various environmental turbulence such as network topology, traffic diversity and noise alarms. | Jiao, Yan; Ho, Pin-Han; Lu, Xiangzhu; Liang, Kairan; You, Yuren; Tapolcai, Janos; Li, Bingbing; Peng, Limei | Univ Waterloo, Dept Elect & Comp Engn, Waterloo, ON, Canada; Huawei Ottawa Res & Dev Ctr, Ottawa, ON, Canada; Budapest Univ Technol & Econ, Dept Telecommun & Media Informat, Budapest, Hungary; Hubei Univ Technol, Sch Comp Sci, Wuhan, Peoples R China; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Sch Comp Sci & Engn, Daegu, South Korea | János, Tapolcai/B-4531-2017 | 57439024000; 7402211578; 58535452200; 58535543300; 57225685557; 6506252092; 55628529152; 7201574271 | y42jiao@uwaterloo.ca;p4ho@uwaterloo.ca;x244lu@uwaterloo.ca;k4liang@uwaterloo.ca;yuren.you@huawei.com;tapolcai@tmit.bme.hu;bbli@hbut.edu.cn;auroraplm@knu.ac.kr; | 2023 IFIP NETWORKING CONFERENCE, IFIP NETWORKING | 0.99 | 2025-06-25 | 2 | 2 | failure localization; correlation analysis; similarity learning; optical transport networks (OTN) | FAULT LOCATION | correlation analysis; failure localization; optical transport networks (OTN); similarity learning | Classification (of information); Failure (mechanical); Fault detection; Finite difference method; Integrated circuits; Network topology; Binary classifiers; Correlation analysis; Failure localization; Fault management; Faults diagnosis; Localisation; Network devices; Optical transport network; Optical transport networks; Similarity learning; Failure analysis | English | 2023 | 2023 | 10.23919/ifipnetworking57963.2023.10186406 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 |
