| ○ | Article | Development of a Korean version of the Bereavement Care Confidence Scale (K-BCCS) | Purpose: The purpose of this study is to evaluate the validity and reliability of the Korean Bereavement Care Confidence Scale (K-BCCS). Methods: The Perinatal Bereavement Care Confidence Scale (PBCCS) was translated into Korean according to an algorithm of cultural adaptation process and excluded six items which were specific to perinatal bereavement. A total of 229 clinical nurses participated in the study. Construct validity, convergent validity, discriminant validity, and group comparison validity were evaluated, and Cronbach's α was calculated to estimate the reliability of the K-BCCS. Results: The K-BCCS consisted of 31 items in 7 factors, including knowledge and skills for bereavement care (12 items), organizational support (6 items), awareness of the needs (3 items), interpersonal skills (3 items), workload influence (2 items), continuous education (2 items), and understanding the grief process (3 items). The factor loading of 31 items within the 7 factors ranged from.60 to.86. For the convergent validity, the construct reliability (CR) ranged from.74 to.94, and the average variance extracted (AVE) ranged from.49 to.73, which is considered acceptable. The discriminant validity showed that the AVEs of the subscales were greater than the square of the correlation coefficient r. The nurses who had experience providing bereavement care (t=4.94, p<.001) or had received bereavement education (t=6.64, p<.001) showed higher K-BCCS values those without experience. The Cronbach's α of 31 items was.93 and ranged from.60 to.94 per subscale. Conclusion: The K-BCCS is a valid and reliable tool for evaluating nurses' confidence in bereavement care. | ○ | ○ | Article | Development of a Noninvasive KIM-1-Based Live-Imaging Technique in the Context of a Drug-Induced Kidney-Injury Mouse Model | The development of reliable methods to diagnose acute kidney injury is essential to allow the adoption of early therapeutic interventions and evaluate their effectiveness. Based on the fact that kidney injury molecule-1 (KIM-1) expression levels in kidneys are markedly upregulated early after a damage event, here we developed a noninvasive KIM-1-based molecular imaging technique to detect kidney injury. First, we took advantage of a phage-display platform to select small peptides demonstrating a specific high binding affinity to KIM-1. The promising candidate was conjugated with fluorescent probes, and its imaging potential was validated in vitro and in vivo. This peptide, with the sequence CNRRRA, not only showed a high imaging potential in vitro, allowing a strong detection of KIM-1 expressing cells by microscopy and flow cytometry but also generated a strong kidney-specific signal in live-imaging in vivo experiments in the context of a drug-induced kidney-injury mouse model. Our data overall suggest that the CNRRRA peptide is a promising probe to use in the context of in vivo imaging for the detection of KIM-1 overexpression in damaged kidneys. | Kwon, Tae-Jun; Jang, Eunseo; Lee, Da-Sol; Haque, Md Enamul; Park, Rang-Woon; Lee, Byungheon; Lee, Sang Bong; Kim, Dongkyu; Jeon, Yong-Hyun; Kim, Kil-Soo; Kim, Sang Kyoon | Daegu Gyeongbuk Med Innovat Fdn, Lab Anim Ctr, Daegu 41061, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Dept Biochem & Cell Biol, BK2I Plus KNU Biomed Convergence Program, CMRI,Sch Med, Daegu 41566, South Korea; Korea Inst Med Microrobot KIMIRo, Gwangju 61011, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Coll Vet Med, Daegu 41566, South Korea | Lee, Sang/I-8954-2014; Kim, Seung/N-5248-2019; Kim, Sun/C-2026-2011; Kim, Dong/AEG-4375-2022 | 35798369900; 57211886193; 57226045679; 57654780700; 7401895636; 16304374900; 57190304501; 57779034700; 16042453400; 35272034300; 55862436000 | ksk1420@dgmif.re.kr; | ACS APPLIED BIO MATERIALS | ACS APPL BIO MATER | 2576-6422 | 4 | 2 | ESCI | MATERIALS SCIENCE, BIOMATERIALS;NANOSCIENCE & NANOTECHNOLOGY | 2021 | N/A | 0.07 | 2025-07-30 | 4 | 3 | kidney injury; KIM-1; peptide probe; live imaging; diagnostic biomarker | PROXIMAL TUBULE; BIOMARKERS; MOLECULE-1; KIM-1 | diagnostic biomarker; kidney injury; KIM-1; live imaging; peptide probe | Acute Kidney Injury; Animals; Disease Models, Animal; Hepatitis A Virus Cellular Receptor 1; Humans; Mice; Peptides; Binding energy; Molecular imaging; Peptides; Phage display; Probes; Havcr1 protein, mouse; hepatitis A virus cellular receptor 1; peptide; Binding affinities; Expression levels; Fluorescent probes; In-vivo experiments; In-Vivo imaging; Over-expression; Reliable methods; Therapeutic intervention; acute kidney failure; animal; diagnostic imaging; disease model; genetics; human; metabolism; mouse; pathology; Mammals | English | 2021 | 2021-02-15 | 10.1021/acsabm.0c01392 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | |||
| ○ | ○ | Article | Development of a Sensitive Analytical Method of Polynemoraline C Using LC-MS/MS and Its Application to a Pharmacokinetic Study in Mice | Polynemoraline C, a pyridocoumarin alkaloid, exhibits anticholinergic, anti-inflammatory, antitumor, and antimicrobial activities. A sensitive analytical method of polynemoraline C in mouse plasma was developed and validated using liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS). Polynemoraline C and C-13-caffeine (internal standard) in mouse plasma were extracted using a liquid-liquid extraction method coupled with ethyl acetate. This extraction method resulted in high and reproducible extraction recovery in the range of 73.49%-77.31% with no interfering peaks around the peak retention time of polynemoraline C , and C-13-caffeine. The standard calibration curves for polynemoraline C were linear over the range of 0.5-200 ng/mL with r(2) > 0.985. The accuracy, precision, and the stability of the data were within acceptable limits on the FDA guideline. After intravenous and oral administration of polynemoraline C at doses of 5 and 30 mg/kg, respectively, the present method was successfully applied to the pharmacokinetic study of polynemoraline C. Polynemoraline C in mouse plasma showed a multi-exponential elimination pattern with a high volume of distribution values. This compound's absolute oral bioavailability was found to be 17.0%. Polynemoraline C's newly developed LC-MS/MS method can be used for further studies on the efficacy, toxicity, and biopharmaceutics of polynemoraline C, as well as its pharmacokinetic studies. | Pang, Minyeong; Lee, Jaehyeok; Jeon, Ji-Hyeon; Song, Im-Sook; Han, Young Taek; Choi, Min-Koo | Dankook Univ, Coll Pharm, Cheonan 31116, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Coll Pharm, Daegu 41566, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Res Inst Pharmaceut Sci, Daegu 41566, South Korea | 57488599500; 57219980183; 57204685946; 7201564500; 36097949800; 8695781400 | hany@dankook.ac.kr;minkoochoi@dankook.ac.kr; | MASS SPECTROMETRY LETTERS | MASS SPECTROM LETT | 2233-4203 | 2093-8950 | 12 | 4 | ESCI | SPECTROSCOPY | 2021 | N/A | 0.26 | 2025-07-30 | 5 | 5 | Polynemoraline C; LC-MS/MS analysis; Pharmacokinetics; Bioavailability | CONSTITUENTS | Bioavailability; LC-MS/MS analysis; Pharmacokinetics; Polynemoraline C | English | 2021 | 2021-12 | 10.5478/msl.2021.12.4.200 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | ||||
| ○ | Article | Development of air-blast dried yeast starter for 'Yakju' and monitoring on its fermentation characteristics | In this study, suitable protectants and rehydration solutions were investigated for the development of 'Yakju' yeast starters. Experiments were conducted alongside the optimization of protectant and rehydration conditions using different types of sugars and rehydration solutions to enhance the viability and storability of air-blast dried yeast cells. Six types of sugars (fructose, glucose, maltose, raffinose, sucrose, trehalose) and four types of rehydration solutions (DW, PBS, 0.85% NaCl, and 1% peptone water) were examined to investigate optimal air-blast drying conditions to enhance the survival rate of Saccharomyces yeasts cells. 10% sucrose (DW) and 10% maltose (PBS) had the highest survival rate of 108.20% and 107.72% for S. cerevisiae W153 and W149, respectively. we assumed that the increased survival rate (>100%) was as a result of the re-initiation of the proliferation of the air-blast dried yeast cells during the 1-h rehydration. We also investigated physicochemical properties as well as sensory quality of 'Yakju'. S. cerevisiae W153 and W149 showed good alcohol fermentation ability in the three different raw materials such as glutinous rice only (Glu 100), non-glutinous rice (NGlu 100), glutinous and non-glutinous rice mixture (NGlu 50:50). The sensory evaluation revealed that S. cerevisiae W153 obtained the highest scores in the flavor as well as the overall preference with the Glu 100. © 2021 Korean Society of Food Preservation. | ○ | Article | Development of biodegradable cigarette filter material from microfibers (Part 1) - Preparation of the filter raw materials and their characteristics -; [미세섬유 기반의 생분해성 담배 필터 소재 개발 (제1보 ) - 필터 원료 제조 및 특성 분석 -] | Cellulose acetate, a raw material for cigarette filter tow, is not easily decomposed in nature, causing serious problems in the ecosystem. Thus, it is necessary to develop biodegradable filter materials that can replace it. To produce a cigarette filter from microfibers derived from pulp, a way of achieving this is to fabricate a three-dimensional mesh network with cross-linked microfibers. Thus, the factors affecting the reactivity of microfibers with cross-linking agents should be investigated prior to the fabrication. In this study, five types of microfibers including cellulose nanofibrils with different particle sizes and lignin contents from pulp were prepared. The morphological, chemical, and physical properties of each of the microfiber types were characterized and compared to select potential feedstocks for the fabrication of cigarette filters. Based on analysis with optical images, Kajaani fiber analyzer, particle size analyzer, water retention value, and chemical compositions, cellulose nanofibril, kneaded organosolv pulp, and lignin-rich microfibrillated cellulose were shown to have relatively high hydroxyl groups, indicating that they are potential feedstocks for the cigarette filter. © 2021 Korean Technical Assoc. of the Pulp and Paper Industry. | ○ | Article | Development of dielectrophoresis chips and an electrode passivation technique for isolation/separation of nanoparticles | Isolation and separation of biological nanoparticles, such as cells and extracellular vesicles, are important techniques for their characterization. Dielectrophoresis (DEP) based on microfluidic chips is an effective method to isolate and separate the nanoparticles. However, the electrodes of the DEP chips are electrolyzed by the electrical signals applied to the nanoparticles. Thus, the isolation/separation efficiency of the nanoparticles is reduced considerably. Through this study, we developed a microfluidic DEP chip for reliable isolation/ separation of nanoparticles and developed a passivation technique for the protection of the DEP chip electrodes. The electrode passivation process was designed using a hydrogel and the stability of the hydrogel passivation layer was verified. The fabricated DEP chip and the proposed passivation technique were used for the collection and dispersion of the fluorescent polystyrene nanoparticles. The proposed chip and the technique for isolation and separation of nanoparticles can be leveraged in various bioelectronic applications. © 2021, Korean Sensors Society. | ○ | ○ | Review | Development of Fluorescent Small Molecules for Imaging of Alzheimer's Disease Biomarkers | Alzheimer's disease (AD), an irreversible degenerative disorder, is associated with accumulation and aggregation of amyloid-beta peptides, hyperphosphorylated tau proteins, and high level of metal ions in the brain. Up to date, there is no effective therapeutic agent to stop the progress of the disease and thus early and accurate diagnosis of AD has gained increasing attention in recent years. Among several diagnostic methods, an optical imaging using fluorescent probes is one of the most promising tools to visualize AD biomarkers. In this review, we will introduce fluorescent probes that can be applied to in vivo brain imaging of AD models and also their structure. It is expected that the present review will provide useful information to many scientists in the related research fields. | Min, Changho; Ha, Heonsu; Jeon, Jongho | Kyungpook Natl Univ, Sch Appl Chem Engn, Dept Appl Chem, Daegu 41566, South Korea | 57222256181; 57222257147; 35082028100 | alsckdgh1@naver.com;9137546@naver.com;jeonj@knu.ac.kr; | APPLIED CHEMISTRY FOR ENGINEERING | APPL CHEM ENG | 1225-0112 | 1228-4505 | 32 | 1 | ESCI | ENGINEERING, CHEMICAL | 2021 | N/A | 0.04 | 2025-07-30 | 2 | 2 | Alzheimer's disease; Diagnosis; Fluorescent probes; Biomarkers; Molecular imaging | IN-VIVO DETECTION; NEAR-INFRARED FLUOROPHORES; AMYLOID PRECURSOR PROTEIN; BETA DEPOSITS; TAU FIBRILS; PROBE; AGGREGATION; PLAQUES; INHIBITION; DESIGN | Alzheimer’s disease; Biomarkers; Diagnosis; Fluorescent probes; Molecular imaging | Korean | 2021 | 2021-02 | 10.14478/ace.2020.1094 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | ||||
| ○ | ○ | Article | Development of Jaspine B analysis using LC-MS/MS and its application: Dose-independent pharmacokinetics of Jaspine B in rats | A rapid and simple LC-MS/MS analytical method in determining Jaspine B has been developed and validated in rat plasma. The standard curve value was 25 - 5000 ng/mL and the linearity, inter-day and intra-day accuracy and precision were within 15.0 % of relative standard deviation (RSD). The mean recoveries of Jaspine B ranged from 87.5 % to 91.2 % with less than 3.70 % RSD and the matrix effects ranged from 91.1 % to 108.2 % with less than 2.6 % RSD. The validated LC-MS/MS analytical method of Jaspine B was successfully applied to investigate the dose-escalated pharmacokinetic study of Jaspine B in rats following an intravenous injection of Jaspine B at a dose range of 1-10 mg/kg. The initial plasma concentrations and area under plasma concentration curves showed a good correlation with intravenous Jaspine B dose, indicating the dose independent pharmacokinetics of Jaspine B in rats. In conclusion, this analytical method for Jaspine B can be easily applied in the bioanalysis and pharmacokinetic studies of Jaspine B, including its administration at multiple therapeutic doses, or for making pharmacokinetic comparisons for the oral formulations of Jaspine B in small experimental animals as well as in vivo pharmacokinetic-pharmacodynamic correlation studies. | Song, Im-Sook; Jeon, Ji-Hyeon; Lee, Jihoon; Lim, Dong Yu; Lee, Chul Haeng; Lee, Dongjoo; Choi, Min-Koo | Kyungpook Natl Univ, BK21 FOUR Community Based Intelligent Novel Drug, Vessel Organ Interact Res Ctr VOICE, Coll Pharm, Daegu 41566, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Res Inst Pharmaceut Sci, Daegu 41566, South Korea; Dankook Univ, Coll Pharm, Cheonan 3111, South Korea; Ajou Univ, Coll Pharm, Suwon 16499, South Korea | 7201564500; 57204685946; 57195979045; 57219057824; 57219051827; 56133597900; 8695781400 | isssong@knu.ac.kr;minkoochoi@dankook.ac.kr; | ANALYTICAL SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY | ANAL SCI TECHNOL | 1225-0163 | 2288-8985 | 34 | 2 | ESCI | CHEMISTRY, ANALYTICAL | 2021 | N/A | 0 | 2025-07-30 | 0 | 0 | jaspine B; liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry; pharmacokinetics; rat; dose escalation | CELL-DEATH; PACHASTRISSAMINE; INHIBITION | Dose escalation; Jaspine B; Liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry; Pharmacokinetics; Rat | English | 2021 | 2021-04 | 10.5806/ast.2021.34.2.37 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | ||||
| ○ | Article | Development of the Active Front Steering Control Strategy for the Enhancement of the Vehicle Cornering Performance | This paper presents the active front steering control strategy for the enhancement of the vehicle cornering performance. Unlike the conventional yaw rate-based lateral controller, our approach does not depend on the tire-road friction, by defining a new state variable, that is, slip angle difference between the front and rear wheels. Because the maximum cornering performance of the vehicle is physically limited by the given road friction, this friction information that is nearly difficult to measure or estimate in real time should be predefined when designing the controller. In this study, such a technical difficulty is mainly treated by formulating the model predictive controller that considers the constraints of the state and control. Without defining the varying target state variable according to the driver command, the controller is designed in such a way to track the constant target value, enabling the road friction dependency. The effectiveness of the proposed method was verified through simulation studies. | Park, Gi Seo; Han, Kyoung Seok | Univ Ulsan, Sch Mech Engn, Ulsan, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Sch Mech Engn, Daegu, South Korea | kyoungsh@knu.ac.kr; | TRANSACTIONS OF THE KOREAN SOCIETY OF MECHANICAL ENGINEERS A | T KOR SOC MEC ENG A | 1226-4873 | 2288-5226 | 45 | 6 | ESCI | ENGINEERING, MECHANICAL | 2021 | N/A | 0 | Maneuverability; Model Predictive Control; Active Front Steering; Vehicle Lateral Control; Vehicle Slip Control | Korean | 2021 | 2021-06 | 10.3795/ksme-a.2021.45.6.481 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | ||||||||||||
| ○ | ○ | Article | Development of Voltammetric Nanobio-incorporated Analytical Method for Protein Biomarker Specific to Early Diagnosis of Lung Cancer | In this article, a portable and cost-effective voltammetric biosensor with nanoparticles was developed for the measurements of heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoprotein A1 protein (hnRNP A1) biomarker which can potentially be used for lung cancer diagnosis. Gold nanoparticles were first electrodeposited onto screen printed carbon electrode (SPCE) followed by immobilizing a single stranded DNA aptamer specific to hnRNP A1 onto the electrode surface. Ethanolamine was also used when immobilizing DNA aptamer on the surface to prevent signals from non-specific adsorption events. Sequential injection of hnRNP A1 biomarker and anti-hnRNP A1 conjugated with alkaline phosphatase (ALP) onto the aptamer chip surface allows to form the sandwich complex of DNA aptamer/hnRNP A1/ALP-anti-hnRNP A1 on the electrode surface which further reacted with 4-aminophenyl phosphate (APP). The electrocatalytic reaction of the enzyme, ALP, and the substrate, APP, resulting in the oxidative current response changes at -0.05 and -0.17 V (vs. Ag/AgCl) against the hnRNP A1 concentration was measured using cyclic and differential pulse voltammetry, respectively. The Au nanoparticles-integrated voltammetric biosensor was applied to analyze human normal serum solutions possibly suggesting potential applicability for lung cancer diagnosis. | Li, Jingjing; Si, Yunpei; Nde, Dieudonne Tanue; Lee, Hye Jin | Kyungpook Natl Univ, Dept Chem, Daegu City 41566, South Korea | ; LEE, HYEJIN/W-1345-2018 | 57222707218; 57203850418; 57240825500; 56569175200 | jingjing.2018@outlook.com;yunpeith@hotmail.com;ndehdieudonne@gmail.com;hyejinlee@knu.ac.kr; | APPLIED CHEMISTRY FOR ENGINEERING | APPL CHEM ENG | 1225-0112 | 1228-4505 | 32 | 4 | ESCI | ENGINEERING, CHEMICAL | 2021 | N/A | 0.12 | 2025-07-30 | 2 | 2 | Lung cancer; Early diagnosis; Protein biomarker; Voltammetric biosensor; Screen printed carbon electrode | LATERAL FLOW IMMUNOASSAY; NANOPARTICLES | Early diagnosis; Lung cancer; Protein biomarker; Screen printed carbon electrode; Voltammetric biosensor | Korean | 2021 | 2021-08 | 10.14478/ace.2021.1057 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | |||
| ○ | Review | Diagnosis and Treatment of Cutaneous Aspergillosis | Aspergillosis is an opportunistic mycosis caused by fungi in the genus Aspergillus, mostly A. fumigatus and A. flavus. Typical entry portals in primary cutaneous aspergillosis include burns, trauma sites, surgical wounds, intravenous catheters, and macerated skin in underlying occlusive dressings. In individuals who are immunocompromised, the dissemination risk is significant. Skin findings range from firm papules and necrotic papulonodules to hemorrhagic bullae and ulcers. The prognosis is poor but improves when the patient is no longer neutropenic or when corticosteroids are discontinued. Localized primary cutaneous aspergillosis can be excised surgically, followed by oral antifungal administration. For the first-line treatment of pulmonary invasive aspergillosis, isavuconazole and voriconazole are the preferred agents, whereas liposomal amphotericin B is supported moderately. © 2021 Korean Society for Medical Mycology. | ○ | Article | Diagnosis and Treatment of Femoral Head Osteonecrosis: A Protocol for Development of Evidence-Based Clinical Practice Guidelines | Introduction: There are many treatment options for patients who have osteonecrosis of the femoral head (ONFH) and management strategies vary widely both among and within individual countries. Although many researchers have attempted to elucidate the optimal strategies for managing this disease, the lack of large-scale randomized control trials and the lack of agreement on disease staging have curtailed the development of clear-cut guidelines. Materials and Methods: The Association Research Circulation Osseous (ARCO) group sought to address three questions for the management of patients who have ONFH: 1) What imaging studies are most sensitive and specific for the diagnostic evaluation of patients who have ONFH?; 2) What is the best treatment strategy for preventing disease progression in patients who have pre-collapse lesions?; and 3) What is the best treatment strategy for patients who have post-collapse disease? The Patient, Intervention, Comparison, and Outcome (PICO) format was used to formulate the search strategy for each research question. A systematic review will be performed according to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines. ARCO participants have been allocated to three groups, each representing one of the PICO questions. After qualitative and quantitative analysis of the data extracted from studies pertaining to each of the three research questions, a set of evidence-based clinical practice guidelines will be proposed for the management of patients who have ONFH. Discussion: It is not always clear which treatment method is optimal for the management of ONFH. Thus, many surgeons have developed and performed various procedures based on patient-specific factors. As there is no consensus on the optimal treatment for various stages of disease, it was clear that developing evidence-based clinical practice guidelines would provide more structure and uniformity to management of these patients. Therefore, the results of this systematic review will lead to the development guidelines that may improve patient-care strategies and result in better outcomes for patients who have ONFH. | Cheng, Edward Y.; Cui, Quanjun; Goodman, Stuart B.; Ando, Wataru; Baek, Seung-Hoon; Bakker, Caitlin; Drescher, Wolf; Hernigou, Philippe; Jones, Lynne C.; Kim, Harry; Kim, Shin-Yoon; Kim, Tae-Young; Ha, Yong-Chan; Koo, Kyung-Hoi; Lee, Mel S.; Mont, Michael A.; Reichert, Ines; Sakai, Takashi; Salem, Hytham S.; Sierra, Rafael J.; Stronach, Ben; Sugano, Nobuhiko; Yamamoto, Takuaki; Yoon, Byung-Ho; Zhao, Dewei | Univ Minnesota, Orthopaed Surg, Minneapolis, MN 55455 USA; Univ Virginia, Sch Med, Orthopaed Surg, Charlottesville, VA 22908 USA; Stanford Univ, Med Ctr, Orthopaed Surg, Stanford, CA 94305 USA; Osaka Univ, Orthopaed Surg, Osaka, Japan; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Orthopaed Surg, Daegu, South Korea; Univ Minnesota, Minneapolis, MN USA; Rhein Westfal TH Aachen, Orthopaed Surg, Aachen, Germany; Hop Henri Mondo, Orthopaed Surg, Paris, France; Johns Hopkins Univ, Orthopaed Surg, Baltimore, MD USA; Scottish Rite Children, Orthopaed Surg, Dallas, TX USA; Konkuk Univ, Med Ctr, Orthopaed Surg, Seoul, South Korea; Chung Ang Univ, Orthopaed Surg, Seoul, South Korea; Seoul Natl Univ, Orthopaed Surg, Seoul, South Korea; Chang Gung Mem Hosp, Orthopaed Surg, Kaohsiung, Taiwan; Lenox Hill Hosp, Northwell Hlth Orthopaed, New York, NY 10021 USA; Kings Coll Hosp London, Orthopaed Surg, London, England; Yamaguchi Univ, Orthopaed Surg, Ube, Yamaguchi, Japan; Lenox Hill Hosp, New York, NY 10021 USA; Mayo Clin, Rochester, MN USA; Univ Mississippi, Orthopaed Surg, Jackson, MS 39216 USA; Fukuoka Univ, Orthopaed Surg, Fukuoka, Japan; Ewha Womans Univ, Orthopaed Surg, Seoul, South Korea; Dalian Univ, Zhongshan Hosp, Orthopaed Surg, Dalian, Peoples R China | ; Zhao, Dewei/G-8369-2016; Reichert, Ines/L-5799-2015; Bakker, Caitlin/AAN-8490-2020; Ando, Wataru/MYS-6851-2025; Koo, Kyung-Hoi/D-7053-2012; Kim, Soo/J-5411-2012; Kim, Harry/AAE-1892-2020; Kim, Tae/C-1272-2009; Goodman, Stuart/AAZ-7499-2020 | SURGICAL TECHNOLOGY INTERNATIONAL-INTERNATIONAL DEVELOPMENTS IN SURGERY AND SURGICAL RESEARCH | SURG TECHNOL INT | 1090-3941 | 38 | ESCI | SURGERY | 2021 | N/A | 6 | CORE DECOMPRESSION; BONE-GRAFT; NONTRAUMATIC OSTEONECROSIS; ASYMPTOMATIC OSTEONECROSIS; SPONTANEOUS RESOLUTION; ROTATIONAL OSTEOTOMY; AVASCULAR NECROSIS; NATURAL-HISTORY; MANAGEMENT; QUALITY | English | 2021 | 2021-06 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | ||||||||||||||||

| ○ | Article | Diagnosis of rare case of hepatoblastoma in a dog | A 9-year-old, intact female Shih-tzu dog presented with a three-week history of anorexia, lethargy, and weight loss. Abdominal radiography revealed a mass in the right cranial quadrant of the abdomen that was displacing the right kidney caudally. Ultrasonography showed a large, irregular, heterogeneous hepatic mass and a small amount of peritoneal fluid. On computed tomography (CT), a large hypoattenuating mass with heterogeneous contrast enhancement occupied the right lateral lobe, and parts of the right medial and caudate lobes of the liver. There was no evidence of regional lymph node or pulmonary metastasis. Lobectomy of the right medial, right lateral and caudate liver lobes was performed, however, the patient did not recover from surgery. Hepatoblastoma was confirmed by histological examination. Hepatoblastoma is rare in dogs, and this is the first report describing CT imaging of hepatoblastoma in a dog. © 2021, Korean Society of Veterinary Clinics.
