| ○ | ○ | Article | Direct Evidence of Metal Type Printing in The Song of Enlightenment, Korea, 1239 | Since the 1920s, nearly six identical versions of an ancient printed book, The Song of Enlightenment with Commentaries by Buddhist Monk Nammyeong Cheon ( ), have been found in Korea. Until very recently, they were believed to be woodblock-printed versions from the 13th to 16th centuries using woodblocks carved from the sheets of a metal-type-printed version from 1239. Two of the six versions were once identified to be woodblock prints in the Goryeo dynasty in the 13th century and designated as Korean treasures in 1984 and 2012. In 2021, one woodblock-printed version printed during the Joseon dynasty in 1526, was designated as a treasure of the Metropolitan city of Seoul, Korea. Historians in Korea have been in heated debate over the printing techniques (metal type print for one version or all woodblock prints) and printing dates (or sequence) of the two versions designated as Korean treasures for the last 50 years. It was almost a never-ending debate with struggles and anger among Korean historians due to the very subjective nature of the examination method and decision-making process by consensus. The heated debates in Korea were never brought to the world's attention, outside of Korea, and are still considered to be a taboo subject in Korea. To conclude this heated debate with direct evidence of metal type printing of the particular version of interests, all six versions were examined by image comparisons and quantitative analyses of inked areas of individual characters, lines of characters, pages and borderlines. All claims against the possibility of metal type printing of the particular version were reviewed thoroughly. Very clear circumstantial and physical evidence for metal type printing of the version designated as a Korean treasure in 2012 was found. The version carries more than metal casting defects and has the smallest inked area (characters with thin strokes) among all six versions. The version of interest was very likely printed using movable metal type in September 1239, as indicated in the imprint, and is definitely the world's oldest extant book, printed using metal type in Korea in 1239, predating Jikji (1377) by 138 years and the 42-line Gutenberg Bible (1455) by 216 years. | Yoo, Woo Sik | WaferMasters Inc, Dublin, CA 94568 USA; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Inst Humanities Studies, Daegu 41566, South Korea | 55665974300 | woosik.yoo@wafermasters.com; | HERITAGE | HERITAGE-BASEL | 2571-9408 | 5 | 4 | ESCI | HUMANITIES, MULTIDISCIPLINARY;MULTIDISCIPLINARY SCIENCES | 2022 | 1.7 | 1.71 | 2025-06-25 | 5 | 6 | The Song of Enlightenment (); early history of printing; different printing versions; image comparison; image analysis; inked area measurement; printing technique; printing sequence; printing date | different printing versions; early history of printing; image analysis; image comparison; inked area measurement; printing date; printing sequence; printing technique; The Song of Enlightenment () | English | 2022 | 2022-12 | 10.3390/heritage5040171 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | ||||||
| ○ | Article | Discourse analysis on understanding the differential concept of high school students in a dynamic geometry environment | This study investigated the cognitive and social processes through which high school students acquire the differential concepts through communication in a dynamic geometry environment through some cases. Additionally, we observed how a dynamic geometry environment affects these processes. To achieve this objective, eight students were recruited by using the pre-test results and divided into an experimental group and a control group. The learning environment for the two groups was designed to be the same except for jointly manipulating Geogebra on the laptop in the experimental group. Students’ discourse was analyzed using an analysis framework that applied both Piaget’s (1959) linguistic categories and Rutherford’s (2011) neo-Piagetian model. We found that the dynamic geometry environment improved communication among students and their achievement levels. In particular, graphic and dynamic representations created by dragging stimulated students’ interest and increased communication among them. Although the quality of communication was somewhat different in the discourse analysis of the two groups, each participant’s role was confirmed in the co-construction of knowledge among all cases of eight students. We expect that precise verbal information on various representations of mathematical content in the process of understanding the concepts of students could be an opportunity to prepare educational environments corresponding thereto. © 2022. by the authors; licensee Modestum. | ○ | Article | Disease Progression-Associated Diagnostic and Treatment Procedure for a Dog with Hepatic Abscesses: A Case Report | A 15-year-old spayed female Yorkshire Terrier was presented to our hospital with a history of anorexia, depression and abdominal pain. Diagnostic procedures including blood test, radiography and ultrasonography were performed. Abdominal ultrasonography revealed multiple hypoechoic cysts in the left lobe of the liver. Over time, the cysts increased in size and became more echogenic. Four days later, the rupture of the largest cyst was suspected, and hepatic abscesses with bacteria were confirmed by aspiration of the cyst. Despite surgical resection of the abscessed liver lobe, antibiotic administration, and supportive therapy, the dog died 9 days after presentation to the hospital and 4 days after the surgical procedure. The present case report described the overall diagnostic and therapeutic approaches for liver abscesses in a dog. © The Korean Society of Veterinary Clinics. | Lee, Hyunji; Ann, Sungwon; Kwon, Youngsam; Jang, Min; Lee, Sangkwon; Oh, Taeho; Bae, Seulgi | College of Veterinary Medicine, Kyungpook National University, Daegu, 41566, South Korea; College of Veterinary Medicine, Kyungpook National University, Daegu, 41566, South Korea; College of Veterinary Medicine, Kyungpook National University, Daegu, 41566, South Korea; College of Veterinary Medicine, Kyungpook National University, Daegu, 41566, South Korea; College of Veterinary Medicine, Kyungpook National University, Daegu, 41566, South Korea; College of Veterinary Medicine, Kyungpook National University, Daegu, 41566, South Korea; College of Veterinary Medicine, Kyungpook National University, Daegu, 41566, South Korea | 58033255000; 58106711000; 7403459426; 55341507600; 56494541400; 8251199600; 55418865900 | sgbae@knu.ac.kr; | Journal of Veterinary Clinics | 1598-298X | 39 | 6 | 0 | 2025-06-25 | 0 | dog; hepatic abscess; infectious hepatopathy; liver lobectomy | alexion; alkaline phosphatase; alpha k1; amikacin; amoxicillin plus clavulanic acid; ampicillin; antibiotic agent; aspartate aminotransferase; butophan; butorphanol; cefalexin; cefazolin; cefixime; cefotaxime; cefovacin; ciproxacin; clindamycin; cotrimoxazole; creatinine; doxycycline; enrofloxacin; esomeprazole; fentanyl; gentamicin; isoflurane; levofloxacin; maritrol; maropitant; meropenem; metronidazole; metrynal; penbrex; phosphorus; propofol; tramadol; unclassified drug; vancomycin; vitamin K group; abdominal pain; anemia; animal experiment; animal tissue; anorexia; antibiotic resistance; antibiotic sensitivity; Article; bladder puncture; blood pressure; blood transfusion; cyst; depression; disease exacerbation; dog; echography; Enterococcus faecium; Escherichia coli; female; fluid therapy; hematocrit; hepatomegaly; histopathology; hospitalization; hyperphosphatemia; lethargy; leukocytosis; liver abscess; liver lobe; lobectomy; nonhuman; platelet count; radiography; thrombocytopenia; urea nitrogen blood level; vomiting; Yorkshire terrier | English | Final | 2022 | 10.17555/jvc.2022.39.6.360 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | |||||||||||||||
| ○ | Article | Distributed TDMA Scheme for Reducing Both Slot Assignment Delay and Failure Rate in Tactical UAV Relay Network | In this paper, we propose a distributed TDMA (Time Division Multiple Access) scheme to reduce slot assignment delay and failure rate of tactical nodes in TURN (Tactical UAV Relay Network). Existing distributed TDMA schemes have a problem that slot assignment delays are large and failure rates are high. TURN is a multi-hop network in which the UAV relays tactical messages to all nodes. When existing schemes are used in TURN, there may be an absence of information about the adjacent node depending on whether the UAV slot is assignment, resulting in an increase in delay and failure rate. Therefore, this paper proposes URMA (UAV Relay-based Mutliple Access) scheme that provides low slot assignment delay and low failure rate in TURN environment. The performance of the proposed scheme is evaluated through simulation, and the results show lower slot assignment delay and failure rate than existing distributed TDMA schemes. © 2022, Korean Institute of Communications and Information Sciences. | ○ | ○ | Article | Distribution of Gastrointestinal Parasitic Infection in Domestic Pigs in the Republic of Korea: Nationwide Survey from 2020-2021 | This study aimed to examine the distribution of gastrointestinal parasitic infections in domestic pigs in the Republic of Korea. From May 2020 to October 2021, 364 pig fecal samples were collected from 75 farms in 7 Provinces and microscopically examined. A total of 170 (46.7%) pigs were infected with at least one of the following parasites: Balantioides coli, strongyles, Ascaris suum, Trichuris suis, and coccidia. By parasite species, B. coli, strongyles, A. suum, T. suis, and coccidia oocysts or eggs were detected in 144 (39.6%), 24 (6.6%), 14 (3.8%), 4 (1.1%), and 1 (0.3%) samples, respectively. One hundred fifty-four, 15, and 1 cases showed single, double, and triple infections, respectively. Of the swine fecal samples from 75 farms, 69 specimens (92.0%) were infected with 1 or more parasites. All surveyed farms across the country exhibited a positive rate of over 30%, among which the highest positive rate was 65.0% in Chungcheongnamdo, and Jeollabuk-do was followed by 61.9%. Winter showed a statistically lower prevalence than other seasons. This study showed that gastrointestinal parasites are prevalent in pigs in Korea, although the diversity of parasites is low. | Lee, Subin; Alkathiri, Badriah; Kwak, Dongmi; Lee, Sang-Myeong; Lee, Wan-Kyu; Byun, Jae-Won; Lee, Seung-Hun | Chungbuk Natl Univ, Coll Vet Med, Cheongju 28644, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Coll Vet Med, Daegu 41566, South Korea; Anim & Plant Quarantine Agcy, Gimcheon 39660, South Korea | 57776738900; 57190979864; 7007148758; 36062712900; 56164987700; 35075815400; 57203394416 | gaewon8911@korea.kr;dvmshlee@chungbuk.ac.kr;jaewon8911@korea.kr; | KOREAN JOURNAL OF PARASITOLOGY | 0023-4001 | 1738-0006 | 60 | 3 | 0.41 | 2025-06-25 | 4 | 4 | Gastrointestinal parasites; pig; prevalence; stool examination; protozoans; nematodes | Gastrointestinal parasites; nematodes; pig; prevalence; protozoans; stool examination | Animals; Coccidia; Feces; Intestinal Diseases, Parasitic; Parasites; Prevalence; Sus scrofa; Swine; Swine Diseases; agricultural land; animal experiment; animal model; animal tissue; article; Ascaris suum; Coccidia; controlled study; domestic pig; feces analysis; nematode; nonhuman; oocyst; parasite; positivity rate; prevalence; protozoon; South Korea; Strongyloidea; Trichuris; Trichuris suis; winter; animal; Coccidia; feces; intestine infection; parasitology; pig; prevalence; swine disease; veterinary medicine | English | 2022 | 2022-06 | 10.3347/kjp.2022.60.3.207 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | ||||||||||
| ○ | ○ | Article | Distribution of stream incision rate in the Southern Sobaek Mountain Range | This study tried to reveal the distribution of incision rate and its causes in the Southern Sobaek Mountain Range, with OSL age dating and topographic analysis for fluvial terrace and fanlike terrace deposits. The northern slope of Jirisan (1,915 m) showed the highest incision rate and the incision rate decreased with distance from the northern slope. The incision rate indicated the most relevant with the distance from the inferred uplift axis, suggesting that ground uplift was the most important factor for the distribution of incision rate in the study area. The incision rates to the eastern and western directions showed similar decreasing patterns, indicating that the study area experienced the symmetric uplift. It was also suggested that the study area experienced similar or slightly lower uplift compared to that in the Northern Taebaek Mountain Range and higher uplift than the Northern and Middle Sobaek Mountain Ranges. | Lee, Gwang-Ryul; Park, Chung-Sun | Kyungpook Natl Univ, Dept Geog Educ, Teachers Coll, Daegu 41566, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Dept Geog, Coll Social Sci, Daegu 41566, South Korea | 57288764300; 56113471500 | pcus96@hanmail.net; | JOURNAL OF THE GEOLOGICAL SOCIETY OF KOREA | J GEOL SOC KOREA | 0435-4036 | 2288-7377 | 58 | 2 | ESCI | GEOSCIENCES, MULTIDISCIPLINARY | 2022 | 0.6 | 0.12 | 2025-06-25 | 1 | 1 | fluvial terrace; fanlike terrace; incision; uplift; OSL; age dating | RIVER INCISION; AREA; UPLIFT | fanlike terrace; fluvial terrace; incision; OSL age dating; uplift | Kangwon; South Korea; Taebaek; acid mine drainage; mountain region; stream; terrace; uplift | Korean | 2022 | 2022-06 | 10.14770/jgsk.2022.58.2.151 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | |||

| ○ | ○ | Article | DNA Methylation Profiles of the DRD2 and NR3C1 Genes in Patients with Recent-Onset Psychosis | Objectives. Dopamine receptor D2 gene (DRD2) and glucocorticoid receptor gene (NR3C1) are implicated in the development of psychosis. We investigated methylation levels of DRD2 and NR3C1 in peripheral blood of patients with recent-onset (RO) psychosis using bisulfite pyrosequencing as well as its association with childhood trauma and rumination. Methods. In all, 51 individuals with RO psychosis and 47 healthy controls were recruited. DNA methylation levels in the targeted regions of two genes were analyzed and compared. Childhood trauma and rumination were evaluated using the Early Trauma Inventory Self-Report Short Form (ETI-SF) and Brooding Scale (BS), respectively. Correlations between the scores of the ETI-SF and BS and methylation levels were explored. Results. For DRD2, we found no significant differences between groups in terms of methylation level or association with childhood trauma or rumination. For NR3C1, we found a trend level significance for average value of all CpG sites and significant hypermethylation or hypomethylation at specific sites. There was also a significant positive correlation between the methylation level at the CpG8 site of NR3C1 exon 1F and negative symptom subscale score of the PANSS (PANSS-N). Conclusion. Epigenetic alterations of NR3C1 are associated with the pathophysiology of psychosis. Further epigenetic studies will elucidate the molecular mechanisms underpinning the pathophysiology of psychosis. | Piao, Yan Hong; Cui, Yin; Li, Ling; Karamikheirabad, Maryam; Kim, Sung-Wan; Lee, Bong Ju; Kim, Jung Jin; Yu, Je-Chun; Lee, Kyu Young; Won, Seung-Hee; Lee, Seung-Hwan; Kim, Seung-Hyun; Kang, Shi Hyun; Kim, Euitae; Kang, Nam-In; Rami, Fatima Zahra; Chung, Young-Chul | Jeonbuk Natl Univ, Dept Psychiat, Med Sch, Jeonju, South Korea; Jeonbuk Natl Univ, Res Inst Clin Med, Biomed Res Inst, Jeonbuk Natl Univ Hosp, Jeonju, South Korea; Shanghai Jiao Tong Univ, Shanghai Mental Hlth Ctr, Sch Med, Shanghai, Peoples R China; Chonnam Natl Univ, Dept Psychiat, Med Sch, Gwangju, South Korea; Inje Univ, Coll Med, Dept Psychiat, Haeundae Paik Hosp, Busan, South Korea; Catholic Univ Korea, Dept Psychiat, Seoul St Marys Hosp, Seoul, South Korea; Eulji Univ, Eulji Univ Hosp, Dept Psychiat, Sch Med, Daejeon, South Korea; Eulji Univ, Nowon Eulji Med Ctr, Dept Psychiat, Seoul, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Dept Psychiat, Sch Med, Daegu, South Korea; Inje Univ, Dept Psychiat, Ilsan Paik Hosp, Goyang, South Korea; Korea Univ, Guro Hosp, Dept Psychiat, Coll Med, Seoul, South Korea; Natl Ctr Mental Hlth, Dept Social Psychiat & Rehabil, Seoul, South Korea; Seoul Natl Univ, Dept Psychiat, Bundang Hosp, Seongnam, South Korea; Maeumsarang Hosp, Dept Psychiat, Wonju, Jeollabuk Do, South Korea | Lee, Yo Han/IUN-3410-2023; Chung, Young/AAB-8242-2022; Karamikheirabad, Maryam/F-6037-2018; Kim, Jungjin/MTF-3196-2025; Lee, Jungmin/KHT-2438-2024; Rami, Fatima/ABS-5222-2022 | 57205143111; 56489073300; 57232581000; 57449594900; 47962371200; 59053777300; 36079817200; 56022915400; 24376890800; 35278955600; 56739411100; 57196226681; 36523091800; 55756823600; 56767602100; 57231663300; 55712695800 | chungyc@jbnu.ac.kr; | DISEASE MARKERS | 0278-0240 | 1875-8630 | 2022 | 0.11 | 2025-06-25 | 1 | 1 | GLUCOCORTICOID-RECEPTOR; EPIGENETIC REGULATION; PERIPHERAL-BLOOD; SCHIZOPHRENIA; ASSOCIATION; PROMOTER; HYPOMETHYLATION; RUMINATION; EXPRESSION; SYMPTOMS | DNA Methylation; Epigenesis, Genetic; Humans; Psychotic Disorders; Receptors, Dopamine D2; Receptors, Glucocorticoid; dopamine 2 receptor; glucocorticoid receptor; dopamine 2 receptor; DRD2 protein, human; glucocorticoid receptor; NR3C1 protein, human; adult; Article; bisulfite pyrosequencing; childhood trauma; clinical feature; controlled study; demographics; disease association; DNA fingerprinting; DNA methylation; DNA methylation age; epigenetics; female; gene expression; human; major clinical study; male; Positive and Negative Syndrome Scale; protein expression; psychosis; genetic epigenesis; genetics | English | 2022 | 2022-08-03 | 10.1155/2022/2172564 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | |||||||||||
| ○ | ○ | Proceedings Paper | Do Not Forget: Exploiting Stability-Plasticity Dilemma to Expedite Unsupervised SNN Training for Neuromorphic Processors | This paper presents a novel early training termination technique that significantly improves the training speed and energy efficiency of unsupervised learning-based spiking neural networks (SNNs) by skipping redundant training samples. To achieve early termination, we leveraged the key observation that unsupervised SNNs tend to stably maintain previously learned information and systematically analyze the spike firing activity of the network during training. To make a training termination decision, we exploit the difference between the number of spikes generated by the previous and current input training samples. Our termination algorithm is adopted in an SNN using the spike-timing-dependent plasticity (STDP) learning rule for a pattern classification application. The proposed scheme made an early termination decision with insignificant accuracy performance loss by adequately ignoring redundant training samples. Specifically, it enhances the training speedup and energy efficiency by up to 5.07x and 5.14x, respectively, with less than 1 percent points (pp) accuracy loss compared to the baseline counterparts by skipping up to 80% of the training samples. Additionally, when employed in a VLSI-based neuromorphic chip environment, it exhibits up to 4.95x better energy efficiency than the baseline. | Kwak, Myeongjin; Kim, Yongtae | Kyungpook Natl Univ, Sch Comp Sci & Engn, Daegu, South Korea | Kwak, Myeongjin/HIZ-8524-2022 | 57222516282; 55699627900 | rhkr9609@knu.ac.kr;yongtae@knu.ac.kr; | 2022 IEEE 40TH INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON COMPUTER DESIGN (ICCD 2022) | 1063-6404 | 0.28 | 2025-06-25 | 1 | 1 | early training termination; spiking neural network (SNN); leaky integrate-and-fire (LIF) neuron; spike-timing-dependent plasticity (STDP); adaptive membrane threshold | NEURAL-NETWORKS; DESIGN | adaptive membrane threshold; early training termination; leaky integrate-and-fire (LIF) neuron; spike-timing-dependent plasticity (STDP); spiking neural network (SNN) | Energy efficiency; Neurons; Sampling; Timing circuits; Adaptive membrane threshold; Early termination; Early training termination; Leaky integrate and fire neuron; Neural-networks; Spike timing dependent plasticities; Spike-timing-dependent plasticity; Spiking neural network; Stability-plasticity dilemma; Training sample; Neural networks | English | 2022 | 2022 | 10.1109/iccd56317.2022.00069 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | |||||||||||
| ○ | Conference paper | Domain Adaptation Training of a Transformer | Domain adaptation is a powerful technology that solves the problem of data distribution mismatch among different domains, and improves generalization performance in various deep learning application fields. However, this technique is not easily applicable to home appliances such as air conditioners that are important in daily life. In this study, we propose a Domain Adaptation Transformer(DAT) to predict the amount of refrigerant in air conditioners using deep learning based on a transformer encoder and the domain-adversarial training of neural networks (DANN). The proposed DAT is a novel deep-learning-based refrigerant prediction model that is not constrained by the specific types of air conditioners, and can be used to other types of air conditioners. We construct a novel dataset to develop and test our model on different types of air conditioners and experiments on those datasets. Experimental results demonstrate that our approach outperforms heuristic methods based on conventional physics phenomena and achieves excellent performance in domain adaptation tests. © 2022 IEEE. | Lee, Junwon; Hwang, Kyoungho; Kwak, Minsuk; Lee, Minho | Kyungpook National University, Dept. of Artificial Intelligence, South Korea; Kyungpook National University, Dept. of Artificial Intelligence, South Korea; Lg Electronics, Air Solution RandD Lab; Kyungpook National University, Dept. of Artificial Intelligence, South Korea | 57641592200; 58002214700; 58001771500; 57191730119 | mholee@gmail.com; | 2022 IEEE International Conference on Consumer Electronics-Asia, ICCE-Asia 2022 | 0.38 | 2025-06-25 | 1 | Air conditioner; Deep learning; Domain adaptation; Transformer | Air conditioning; Heuristic methods; Long short-term memory; Refrigerants; Statistical tests; Air conditioner; Application fields; Daily lives; Data distribution; Deep learning; Different domains; Domain adaptation; Generalization performance; Neural-networks; Transformer; Domestic appliances | English | Final | 2022 | 10.1109/icce-asia57006.2022.9954860 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | ||||||||||||||||||
| ○ | Proceedings Paper | Domain Adaptive Detector via Variational Inference | Recent deep learning-based models work enough for object detection. However, there are still challenging tasks aiming to address domain shift problem caused when a model is applied to target data that have different domains from source data. In this paper, we are concerned with a scenario in domain generalization to aim to perform well on unseen target domains. We propose a novel single domain generalization method using variational inference to improve cross-domain robustness for object detection. We build a model that has latent features following a prior distribution to achieve feature alignment. Specifically, the latent features are guided to follow Gaussian distribution for arbitrary inputs, hence the model can be domain-invariant. We utilize Faster R-CNN as a base detector, and our proposed approach is evaluated on Cityscapes, KITTI, SIM10k datasets. The results show that our method can provides a general solution for cross-domain robustness, only using source data in tackling single domain generalization. © 2022 IEEE. | Kim, Hwa-Rang; Kim, Kwang-Ju; Choi, Doo-Hyun | Kyungpook National University, Graduate School of Electronic and Electrical Engineering, Daegu, 41566, South Korea; Research Institute, Electronics and Telecommunications, Dague, 42994, South Korea; Kyungpook National University, Graduate School of Electronic and Electrical Engineering, Daegu, 41566, South Korea | 57221832146; 57208557328; 7401642881 | 2022 International Conference on Platform Technology and Service, PlatCon 2022 - Proceedings | 0.28 | 2025-06-25 | 1 | object detection; single domain generalization; variational inference | Computer vision; Deep learning; Object recognition; Adaptive detectors; Cross-domain; Different domains; Generalisation; Learning Based Models; Objects detection; Single domain generalization; Single domains; Source data; Variational inference; Object detection | English | Final | 2022 | 10.1109/platcon55845.2022.9932118 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | |||||||||||||||||||
| ○ | ○ | Article | Dominant Optic Atrophy Caused by the c.1334G>A Mutation of the OPA1 Gene | Purpose: Dominant optic atrophy is one of the most common hereditary optic neuropathies, causing progressive bilateral vision loss that begins early in life. Optic atrophy 1 (OPA1) gene mutation brings about mitochondrial dysfunction, which results in clinical manifestations of dominant optic atrophy. Here, we report a case of dominant optic atrophy caused by the c.1334G>A mutation of the OPA1 gene, the first known case in Korea to our knowledge. Case summary: A 12-year-old female patient with no specific medical history or systemic symptoms visited our clinic complaining of a progressive decrease in vision in either eye. Slit-lamp microscopy, intraocular pressure, ocular motility, and pupil reflex were normal. However, her best-corrected visual acuity in both eyes was 20/100, and her color vision was reduced to 8/12 in Ishihara's test. Fundus examination showed temporal pallor of the optic nerve head in both eyes, and a corresponding cecocentral scotoma was observed on Goldmann visual field examination. Optical coherence tomography revealed significant thinning of the peripapillary retinal fiber layer and macular ganglion cell layer in both eyes. Genetic examination confirmed the c.1334G>A mutation of the OPA1 gene. Conclusions: We report a case of dominant optic nerve atrophy caused by c.1334G>A mutation of the OPA1 gene and its clinical manifestations. | Choi, Yoon Seok; Oh, Jun Ho; Hwang, Su-Kyeong; Chun, Bo Young | Kyungpook Natl Univ, Sch Med, Dept Ophthalmol, 130 Dongdeok Ro, Daegu 41944, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Sch Med, Dept Pediat Neurol, Daegu, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Sch Med, Brain Sci & Engn Inst, Daegu, South Korea | 57226079827; 57216588714; 37761570400; 25644902100 | byjun424@hotmail.com; | JOURNAL OF THE KOREAN OPHTHALMOLOGICAL SOCIETY | J KOR OPHTHALMOL SOC | 0378-6471 | 2092-9374 | 63 | 3 | ESCI | OPHTHALMOLOGY | 2022 | 0.1 | 0 | 2025-06-25 | 0 | 0 | Dominant optic atrophy; Mitochondrial dysfunction; OPA1 gene mutation | MISSENSE MUTATION; NEUROPATHY | Dominant optic atrophy; Mitochondrial dysfunction; OPA1 gene mutation | Korean | 2022 | 2022-03 | 10.3341/jkos.2022.63.3.325 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | ||||
| ○ | Article | Don't "Weight" to Board: Augmenting Vision-based PassengerWeight Prediction via Viscoelastic Mat | Airlines overestimate the weight of their passengers by simply assigning a constant weight for everyone, causing each plane to burn more fuel than needed to carry the extra weight. Accurately estimating the passenger weights is a difficult problem for airlines as naively weighing all passengers with scales is impractical in already busy airports. Hence, we propose CamScale, a novel vision-based weight inference system that is augmented by an off-the-shelf viscoelastic mat (e.g., memory foam mat). CamScale takes the video feed of the mat placed on the floor as the passengers walk over it. It utilizes the inherent strain, or deformation of the mat due to the passengers' footsteps to infer their weights. CamScale is advantageous because it does not incur additional weighing time, while being cost-effective and accurate. We evaluate CamScale through real-world experiments by deploying RGB and infrared cameras and inviting 36 participants to walk a total of more than 17,000 steps over viscoelastic mats, equivalent to walking approximately 13.1 km. We demonstrate that CamScale is able to accurately estimate an individual's weight with an average error of 1.12 kg. | Lee, Jong Taek; Lim, Yu Kai; Pan, Shijia; Han, Jun | Kyungpook Natl Univ, Daegu, South Korea; Def Sci & Technol Agcy, Singapore, Singapore; Univ Calif Merced, Merced, CA USA; Yonsei Univ, Seoul, South Korea | Pan, Shijia/J-8531-2019 | jongtaeklee@knu.ac.kr;lyukai@u.nus.edu;span24@ucmerced.edu;jun.han@yonsei.ac.kr; | PROCEEDINGS OF THE ACM ON INTERACTIVE MOBILE WEARABLE AND UBIQUITOUS TECHNOLOGIES-IMWUT | PROC ACM INTERACT MO | 2474-9567 | 6 | 4 | ESCI | COMPUTER SCIENCE, INFORMATION SYSTEMS;ENGINEERING, ELECTRICAL & ELECTRONIC;TELECOMMUNICATIONS | 2022 | 4 | 0 | weight estimation; sensing; video; deep learning | BODY; PARAMETERS; WALKWAY | English | 2022 | 2022-12 | 10.1145/3569465 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | |||||||||||
| ○ | ○ | Proceedings Paper | Dual-inferences mechanism for real-time semantic segmentation | Autonomous cars have potential developments based on technology evolution. In the street scenes, the car needs to deal with a wide range of object sizes. Existing methods generally concentrate on deploying a single inference for semantic segmentation. However, one single scale is not suitable to capture the whole information of diverse sizes. It can effectively capture the context of thin objects, but it will get problems to cover the whole information of large objects, and reversely. In this paper, we propose an approach based on multi-scale inference to tackle the above difficulty. The multi-scale mechanism proposal employs two inference scales. Each scale is processed by a specific rate set of atrous spatial pyramid pooling. The segmentation maps are added together to take advantage of all scales. We validate our networks with a series of experiments on different open datasets. The approaches achieve high accuracy while reaching the speed for real-time semantic segmentation. The results are 75.5% mIoU at 51 FPS on Cityscapes and 42.0 % mIoU on Mapillary Vistas. | Toan, Quyen Van; Kim, Min Young | Kyungpook Natl Univ, Sch Elect & Elect Engn, Daegu, South Korea | 57563580600; 56739349100 | yersin@knu.ac.kr;minykim@knu.ac.kr; | 2022 THIRTEENTH INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON UBIQUITOUS AND FUTURE NETWORKS (ICUFN) | 2165-8528 | 2165-8536 | 0.76 | 2025-06-25 | 3 | 3 | Multi-scale; semantic segmentation; real time | CONVNET | Multi-scale; real time; semantic segmentation | Computer vision; Semantics; Autonomous car; Inference mechanism; Multi-scales; Object size; Real- time; Real-time semantics; Segmentation map; Semantic segmentation; Spatial pyramids; Technology evolution; Semantic Segmentation | English | 2022 | 2022 | 10.1109/icufn55119.2022.9829698 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 |
