| ○ | Article | Altermagnetism: Fundamental Concepts, Experimental Discoveries, and Future Directions | A new magnetic state, altermagnetism, has been theoretically proposed and recently experimentally verified, thereby opening new possibilities for magnetic research. Altermagnetism exhibits zero net magnetization, similar to conventional antiferromagnetism, but displays spin splitting in specific momentum k regions, akin to ferromagnetism. This review paper aims to explain the fundamental concepts of altermagnetism, spin group symmetry, and recent experimental discoveries, and it discusses potential applications and future research directions. | Guk, Yun-Sang; Ryu, Dong-Choon; Kim, Bongjae; Kang, Chang-Jong | Chungnam Natl Univ, Dept Phys, Daejeon 34134, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Dept Phys, Daegu 41566, South Korea; Chungnam Natl Univ, Inst Quantum Syst, Daejeon 34134, South Korea | Kang, Chang-Jong/A-3959-2019 | cjkang87@cnu.ac.kr; | JOURNAL OF THE KOREAN MAGNETICS SOCIETY | J KOREAN MAGN SOC | 1598-5385 | 2233-6648 | 34 | 5 | ESCI | PHYSICS, APPLIED | 2024 | 0.1 | 99.2 | 1 | altermagnetism; spin group; collinear magnetism; electronic structure; density functional theory | Korean | 2024 | 2024-10 | 10.4283/jkms.2024.34.5.151 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | ||||||||||
| ○ | ○ | Article | Changes in superconducting properties of Nb films irradiated with Kr ion beam | This study investigated the effect of Kr ion beam irradiation on the superconducting properties of Nb thin films, which are known for their high superconducting transition temperature ( T c ) at ambient pressure among single elements. Using the Stopping and Range of Ions in Matter (SRIM) program, we analyzed the distribution of Kr ions and displacement per atom (DPA) after irradiation, finding a direct correlation between irradiation amount and DPA. In samples with stronger beam energy, deeper ion penetration, fewer ions remained, and higher DPA values were observed. X-ray diffraction (XRD) revealed that the Nb (110) peak at 38.5 degrees weakened and shifted with increasing irradiation. T c decreased in all samples after irradiation, more significantly in those with higher beam energy. Irradiation raised resistivity of the film and lowered the residual -resistivity ratio (RRR). AC susceptibility measurements were also consistent with these findings. This research could potentially lead to more efficient and powerful superconducting devices and a better understanding of superconducting materials. | Kim, Minju; Choi, Joonyoung; Kim, Chang-Duk; Jo, Younjung | Kyungpook Natl Univ, Dept Phys, Daegu, South Korea | 59288900200; 57199099536; 57200982445; 13502586500 | jophy@knu.ac.kr; | PROGRESS IN SUPERCONDUCTIVITY AND CRYOGENICS | PROG SUPERCOND CRYOG | 1229-3008 | 2287-6251 | 26 | 1 | ESCI | PHYSICS, APPLIED | 2024 | 0.1 | 99.2 | 0 | 2025-04-16 | 0 | 0 | niobium; superconductor; thin film; ion irradiation | NIOBIUM | ion irradiation; niobium; superconductor; thin film | Ion beams; Ions; Magnetic susceptibility; Niobium; Superconducting films; Superconducting transition temperature; Thin films; Ambient pressures; Beam energies; Displacements per atoms; Ion beam irradiation; Ions irradiation; Nb film; Single element; Stopping and range of ions in matters; Superconducting properties; Thin-films; Ion bombardment | English | 2024 | 2024-03 | 10.9714/psac.2024.26.1.005 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | ||
| ○ | Article | Research on Relationship between Electrical Steel of Non-linear BH Curve and Magnetic Contact Force | In this paper, we confirm that the relationship between the nonlinear magnetic properties of electrical steel and the electromagnetic contact force is a one-to-one correspondence. Based on this result we propose a new technique to measure effective BH points. The proposed technique uses DC magnetic fluxes, eliminating the problems of eddy currents and harmonic induced voltages in electrical steel sheets that occurred when using the existing Epstein frame, and unlike VSM, there are no air-gap, allowing high-magnetic field areas to be measured with low power. Based on this relationship the magnetic flux density and permeability of the specimen are extracted using a pre-calculated look-up table using the measured contact force of the force sensor and the corresponding BH points of the electrical steel sheet are extracted. By confirming the validity of the proposed method through the production and experimentation of a simplified permanent magnet axisymmetric model, we aim to show a new method that can effectively measure the BH curve data of electrical steel sheets. | Choi, Hong-Soon; Seo, Jangho | Kyungpook Natl Univ, Dept Elect Engn, Daegu 41566, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Sch Automot Engn, Sangju 37224, South Korea | j.seo@knu.ac.kr; | JOURNAL OF THE KOREAN MAGNETICS SOCIETY | J KOREAN MAGN SOC | 1598-5385 | 2233-6648 | 34 | 6 | ESCI | PHYSICS, APPLIED | 2024 | 0.1 | 99.2 | 0 | BH curve; magnetic force; non-linear permeability; virtual air-gap | LOW-COST | Korean | 2024 | 2024-12 | 10.4283/jkms.2024.34.6.230 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | ||||||||||

| ○ | Article | 2D plasmonic micro-square arrays based on innovative two-step pattern transfer and plasma treatment for high-efficiency Si solar cells | Silicon (Si) photovoltaic cells and their production play a pivotal role in advancing energy utilization within the rapidly expanding solar industry, which serves as a critical driver in realizing global sustainability objectives and mitigating environmental repercussions associated with energy production. Here, we introduce a novel two-step pattern transfer technique to successfully imprint a two-dimensional plasmonic micro-square periodic array onto an Si substrate, utilizing Kapton® Tape and plasma technology. Remarkably, this represents the first-ever application of flexible and stretchable Kapton® polyimide for pattern transfer onto Si. The vacuum plasma treatment plays a pivotal role in significantly enhancing surface adhesion performance, thereby facilitating the efficient pattern transfer process. As a result, the resulting microstructure exhibits exceptional performance as a plamonic broadband absorber in the visible region, making it a highly promising candidate for enhancing efficiency in Si-based solar cells. To support our experimental findings, the finite-difference time domain method was employed for simulating the fabricated plasmonic structure and determining the electric field distribution. The simulation results unequivocally affirm the robust and intense light trapping capabilities of the microstructure. Moreover, our fabrication technique demonstrates the potential for achieving high-resolution microstructure through an innovative, straightforward, and cost-efficient approach. © The Author(s) 2024. | Roostaei, Neda; Hamidi, Seyedeh Mehri; Chee, Guanghui-A. | Magneto-plasmonic Lab, Laser and Plasma Research Institute, Shahid Beheshti University, Tehran, Iran; Magneto-plasmonic Lab, Laser and Plasma Research Institute, Shahid Beheshti University, Tehran, Iran; National Education Center for Semiconductor Technology, Kyungpook National University, Daegu, South Korea, Institute of Semiconductor Fusion Technology, Kyungpook National University, Daegu, South Korea, School of Electronic and Electrical Engineering, Kyungpook National University, Daegu, South Korea | 57216223095; 23469366100; 59204878200 | m_hamidi@sbu.ac.ir; | Journal of Theoretical and Applied Physics | 2251-7227 | 18 | 3 | 0 | 2025-05-07 | 0 | Light trapping; Optical absoption; Plasmonic resonance; Soft lithography; Surface lattice resonance | English | Final | 2024 | 10.57647/j.jtap.2024.1803.33 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | ||||||||||||||||

| ○ | Conference paper | 5-level stacked In0.53Ga0.47As Multi-Bridged Channel Field-Effect Transistors | We present highly scalable 5-level stacked gate-all-around (GAA) In0.53Ga0.47As multi-bridged channel FETs (MBCFETs) with superior device performance. At the heart of integration process, we maintained temperature of all the unit process under 300 ℃ and inserted an n-InP ledge into a top In0.52Al0.48As sacrificial layer to prevent fluorine migration phenomenon. Moreover, a selectively regrown n+In0.53Ga0.47As was used in the source/drain regions via MOCVD, together with a precision dry etching at 200 ℃. Particularly, the dry etching process resulted in a highly vertical etching slope along both the S/D and Wg directions. The fabricated Lg = 60 nm MBCFET exhibited excellent DC figures-of-merit (FOMs) with a combination of RON = 35 Ω·μm, S = 75 mV/decade, gmₘₐₓ = 19.4 mS/μm & Ion = 2.81 mA/μm at both VDS and VGS = 0.5 V, yielding Q (gmₘₐₓ/S) = 258 mS·dec./V·μm. © 2024 International Conference on Compound Semiconductor Manufacturing Technology. | ○ | Article | A 17-year case report: Smile-clenching-swallowing exercise treatment to control tongue behavior and posture of anterior open bite | This case report emphasizes the importance of tongue habit control and careful monitoring in the treatment and stability of anterior open bite. An 8-year-old girl sought treatment for a severe open bite. On clinical examination, the patient was diagnosed with a dental open bite with infantile swallowing. Attempts for habit control using tongue crib and spur were unsuccessful, resulting in prolonged treatment and relapse of the open bite. Tongue habits could only be eliminated by the patient actively performing the smile-clenching-swallowing exercise after renewed motivation. The treatment, retention, and retreatment lasted for 12 years and focused on the closure of open bite with mechanotherapy and habit control, and the treatment results were stable even after 5.7 years. Hence, when treating an anterior open bite accompanied by tongue habits, focusing on habit control is essential. © 2023 American Association of Orthodontists | Noh, Hyung-Kyu; Kim, Ho-Jin; Park, Hyo-Sang | Department of Orthodontics, School of Dentistry, Kyungpook National University, Daegu, South Korea; Department of Orthodontics, School of Dentistry, Kyungpook National University, Daegu, South Korea; Department of Orthodontics, School of Dentistry, Kyungpook National University, Daegu, South Korea | 59817374900; 58950751100; 55754836800 | parkhs@knu.ac.kr; | AJO-DO Clinical Companion | 2666-4305 | 4 | 1 | 0 | 2025-05-07 | 0 | anterior open bite; Article; case report; child; clinical article; disease severity; female; habit; human; muscle training; open bite; orthodontic procedure; panoramic radiography; pathogenesis; patient compliance; patient education; patient monitoring; relapse; school child; smile clenching swallowing exercise; tongue thrusting; tooth eruption; treatment outcome | English | Final | 2024 | 10.1016/j.xaor.2023.11.004 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | ||||||||||||||||
| ○ | Conference paper | A 29.5W Switched-Capacitor based Dual-Output Hybrid Secondary Charger Providing Simultaneous Two-Cell Battery Charging and System Supply Voltage with Input Current Limiting Feature | The fast charging system for a two-cell battery typically consists of primary-secondary charging configurations followed by a buck converter to provide the system supply voltage (Vsys) [Fig. 1 (top)]. Recent works on efficient battery charging have focused on the primary charger capable of operating both as a voltage and current source [1]-[5]. By contrast, the secondary charger only needs to function as a current source, providing substantial charging current during the constant current (CC) mode. Among various secondary charger architectures, the 2:1 switched-capacitor (SC) power converter is highly favored due to its remarkable efficiency [6]. The SC converter can maintain a relatively constant charging current by adjusting the input voltage (VIN), relying on software communication between the USB input and the charger. © 2024 IEEE. | Park, Chanjung; Yeo, Seongil; Lee, Jeu; Park, Geuntae; Baek, Seungjin; Lee, Seunghoon; Cho, Kunhee | Kyungpook National University, Daegu, South Korea; Kyungpook National University, Daegu, South Korea; Kyungpook National University, Daegu, South Korea; Kyungpook National University, Daegu, South Korea; Kyungpook National University, Daegu, South Korea; Kyungpook National University, Daegu, South Korea; Kyungpook National University, Daegu, South Korea | 59325267100; 58531199600; 59563555500; 59325087800; 59563400500; 56089566700; 57069360800 | 2024 IEEE Asian Solid-State Circuits Conference, A-SSCC 2024 | 0 | 2025-05-07 | 0 | State of charge; Charging current; Charging systems; Current limiting; Current sources; Dual outputs; Fast charging; Input current; Supply voltages; Switched capacitor; System supply; Charging stations | English | Final | 2024 | 10.1109/a-sscc60305.2024.10848737 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | ||||||||||||||||||||
| ○ | Conference paper | A BIM-based Virtual Reality Evacuation Simulation for Fire Safety Management | In contemporary design and construction engineering, Building Information Modeling (BIM) technology significantly influences the evolution of fire safety. This research explores the intersection of fire safety and virtual reality (VR) by introducing an innovative emergency evacuation simulation method grounded in BIM technology. The study aims to establish a robust framework for emergency evacuation simulations by synthesizing fire dynamics, evacuation strategies, and BIM-based VR technologies. By bridging the theoretical-practical gap, the research endeavors to provide stakeholders in the construction industry with a toolset that prioritizes safety while enhancing designs for safer building projects. The study incorporates fire simulation utilizing CFAST, a representative zone model from the Korean National Institute of Standards and Technology. CFAST divides the fire room into high-temperature upper and low- temperature lower layers, assuming a uniform thermal and chemical environment. It interprets fire phenomena through principles such as mass conservation, the first law of thermodynamics, and the ideal gas equation. The study employs Cellular Automata (CA) to design an agent's reaction and behavior for evacuation. This involves creating a model based on CA rules, determining state changes, and designing behaviors accordingly. The study also focuses on formulating a calculation for evacuation time, refining it based on key factors. The integration of CFAST and CA, along with models for fire and evacuation simulations, enhances the accuracy and utility of evacuation simulations. The research introduces computational models and BIM models in a visually immersive experience in VR across 3 types of fire emergency scenarios. © 2024, Education and research in Computer Aided Architectural Design in Europe. | ○ | Article | A Case of Adenocarcinoma of the External Nose; [외비에서 발생한 선암종 1예] | Adenocarcinoma occurs very rarely in the paranasal sinuses; moreover, adenocarcinoma diagnosed in the external nose is rarely reported. A 58-year-old male patient visited our hospital with an enlarged right nasal mass. On image studies, a 1.5 cm sized mass was found on the right nasolabial fold, which was surgically removed via sublabial approach. Intraoperative frozen section examination showed inflammatory tissue without tumor cells. However, adenocarcinoma showing infiltration between the skeletal muscle layers was diagnosed on the final histopathologic examination after surgery. In the immunohistochemical staining test, CK7 positive, CK20 negative, and GCDFP-15 positive were confirmed, so metastasis of adenocarcinoma was considered first rather than primary cancer of the nasolabial fold. There was no recurrence and no tumor development in other sites after postoperative chemoradiation therapy of 32 months. | ○ | Article | A Case of Extracranial Anaplastic Meningioma Presenting as a Solitary Scalp Nodule; [단독 두피 결절로 나타난 두개 외 역형성 수막종 1예] | Meningiomas are common intracranial tumors; however, reports on extracranial cutaneous meningiomas are exceedingly rare. A 77-year-old woman visited our hospital with an asymptomatic child fist-sized mass on the scalp. Biopsy results indicated nuclear atypia and mitoses of sarcomatous cells. Brain magnetic resonance imaging revealed a subgaleal mass with strong enhancement. Suspecting sarcoma, wide excision was performed jointly by the departments of plastic surgery and neurosurgery, during which no evidence of cranial invasion was noted. In the surgical specimen, numerous mitoses of sarcomatous cells and poorly formed nests of epithelioid cells were observed. This led to the diagnosis of anaplastic meningioma without intracranial origin. Subsequently, the patient received adjuvant radiotherapy and is currently under close follow-up. Anaplastic meningioma is rare, but early diagnosis is important as it enables timely and appropriate treatment, thus, improving survival rates. Dermatologists should remain vigilant as meningiomas can manifest as cutaneous scalp nodules, and their accurate diagnosis can profoundly impact prognosis. © 2024 Korean Dermatological Association. To our knowledge, there have been no reported cases of MFS originating from the maxillary sinus in Korea. Herein, we describe a case of a 61-year-old male who presented with left-sided hypoesthesia and a mass in the maxillary sinus, which was subsequently diagnosed as MFS originating from the maxillary sinus through endoscopic surgery with a prelacrimal approach. The patient was administered postoperative radiation therapy, and after two years of follow-up, there was no evidence of recurrence. This report presents a case of successful treatment of MFS in the maxillary sinus. © 2024 Korean Society of Otorhinolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery. | Oh, Eun Jung; Jeong, Ji Yun; Kim, Jae-Hui; Heo, Sung Jae | Department of Otorhinolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, School of Medicine, Kyungpook National University, Daegu, South Korea; Department of Pathology, School of Medicine, Kyungpook National University, Daegu, South Korea; Department of Pathology, School of Medicine, Kyungpook National University, Daegu, South Korea; Department of Otorhinolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, School of Medicine, Kyungpook National University, Daegu, South Korea | 57844473100; 57205472984; 57416959900; 55822906000 | blueskyhsj@hanmail.net; | Korean Journal of Otorhinolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery | 2092-6529 | 67 | 6 | 0 | 2025-05-07 | 0 | Maxillary sinus; Paranasal sinus neoplasms; Sarcoma | English | Final | 2024 | 10.3342/kjorl-hns.2023.00801 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 |
