| ○ | ○ | Article | Comparative assessment of technical efficiencies of irrigated crop production farms: A case study of the large-scale Kampe-Omi irrigation scheme, Nigeria | The technical inefficiencies of crop production system in terms of large-scale irrigation schemes are major problems attributed to the underperformance of crop farms. Therefore, the aim of this study was to estimate and compare farm-level technical efficiencies of four major crop productions system including, pepper, okra, garden egg, and tomato under the large-scale Kampe-Omi irrigation scheme, Nigeria. The data development analysis (DEA) approach was used to study the hypothesized determinants affecting the efficiencies of crop farms using an ordinary least squares regression model. The results showed that the selected pepper, okra, garden egg, and tomato crop farms were fully efficient at 20, 10, 16.92, and 40% under constant return to scale (CRS), and at 13.33, 30, 10.77, and 25.71% under variable return to scale (VRS), respectively. DEA revealed a considerable variation in technical inefficiency among the selected crop farms under the irrigation scheme. The significant determinants of technical efficiencies of the four crop farms include farmers' age, family size, experience, alternative income, education, credit accessibility, and contact with extension agents. The outcomes of this study are useful for improving production efficiencies while serving as a convenient guide for both farmers and irrigation scheme managers of selected crops. | Adelodun, Bashir; Mohammed, Abdulwaheed Adedayo; Adeniran, Kamoru Akanni; Akanbi, Sheu-Usman Oladipo; Abdulkadir, Taofeeq Sholagberu; Choi, Kyung Sook | Kyungpook Natl Univ, Dept Agr Civil Engn, Daegu, South Korea; Univ Ilorin, Dept Agr & Biosyst Engn, Ilorin, Nigeria; Kwara State Minist Agr & Nat Resources, Ilorin, Nigeria; Univ Ilorin, Fac Agr, Dept Agr Econ & Farm Management, Ilorin, Nigeria; Univ Ilorin, Dept Water Resources & Environm Engn, Ilorin, Nigeria; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Inst Agr Sci & Technol, Daegu, South Korea | ; Abdulkadir, Taofeeq/ABO-3102-2022; Adelodun, Bashir/O-2941-2018 | 57193774482; 57216951599; 55014716800; 57202286765; 57190046501; 54392662900 | ks.choi@knu.ac.kr; | AFRICAN JOURNAL OF SCIENCE TECHNOLOGY INNOVATION & DEVELOPMENT | AFR J SCI TECHNOL IN | 2042-1338 | 2042-1346 | 13 | 3 | ESCI | MULTIDISCIPLINARY SCIENCES | 2021 | N/A | 0.72 | 2025-07-30 | 10 | 11 | crop production; DEA; large-scale irrigation scheme; technical efficiency; Nigeria | EASTERN ETHIOPIA; ENVELOPMENT; DETERMINANTS | crop production; DEA; large-scale irrigation scheme; Nigeria; technical efficiency | English | 2021 | 2021-04-16 | 10.1080/20421338.2020.1755111 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | |||
| ○ | ○ | Article | Comparative Study of Narrow-Band Imaging and i-scan for Predicting the Histology of Intermediate-to-Large Colorectal Polyps: A Prospective, Randomized Pilot Study | Background/Aims: To date, no reports have compared the diagnostic efficacy of narrow-band imaging (NBI) and i-scan for the histologic prediction of intermediate-to-large colorectal polyps. We aimed to compare the diagnostic accuracy of NBI and i-scan in predicting histology, and their inter-/intra-observer agreement. Methods: We performed a prospective, randomized study that included 66 patients (NBI, n=33 vs. i-scan, n=33) with colorectal polyps (size >10 mm but <50 mm) who underwent colonoscopic resection. During the procedure, three endoscopists documented their prediction using the Japan NBI Expert Team (JNET) classification. Two months after study completion, the endoscopists reviewed still images and video clips for analysis. Results: The overall diagnostic accuracies in the NBI and i-scan groups were 73.7% (73/99) and 75.8% (75/99), respectively, and there was no statistical significance between the two groups (p=0.744). The JNET classification as applied to NBI and i-scan showed substantial inter-observer agreement (NM kappa-value 0.612, p=0.001 vs. i-scan kappa-value 0.662, p=0.002). Additionally, the kappa-values of intra-observer agreement were in the range of 0.385-0.660 with NBI and 0.364-0.741 with i-scan. Conclusions: NBI and i-scan have similar diagnostic accuracies for the histologic prediction of intermediate-to-large colorectal polyps. Furthermore, the inter-/intra-observer agreement was acceptable for both modalities when the JNET classification was applied. | Lee, Joon Seop; Jeon, Seong Woo; Kwon, Yong Hwan | Kyungpook Natl Univ, Kyungpook Natl Univ Hosp, Sch Med, Dept Internal Med, 807 Hoguk Ro, Daegu 41404, South Korea | Jeon, Seongwoo/AAU-4618-2020 | 57205374013; 9733636500; 55775556800 | sw-jeon@hanmail.net; | CLINICAL ENDOSCOPY | CLIN ENDOSC | 2234-2400 | 2234-2443 | 54 | 6 | ESCI | GASTROENTEROLOGY & HEPATOLOGY | 2021 | N/A | 1.04 | 2025-07-30 | 8 | 10 | Colonoscopy; Colorectal neoplasms; Histology; i-scan; Narrow-band imaging | MAGNIFYING ENDOSCOPIC CLASSIFICATION; NBI; GUIDELINES; DIAGNOSIS; SOCIETY; CANCER; SURVEILLANCE; LESIONS; COLON | Colonoscopy; Colorectal neoplasms; Histology; I-scan; Narrow-band imaging | English | 2021 | 2021-11 | 10.5946/ce.2020.257 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | |||
| ○ | ○ | Article | Comparison of cisplatin-induced anti-tumor response in CT26 syngeneic tumors of three BALB/c substrains | Background To determine whether the background of BALB/c substrains affects the response to anti-tumor drugs, we measured for alterations in tumor growth, histopathological structure of the tumor, and expressions of tumor-related proteins in three BALB/c substrains derived from different sources (BALB/cKorl, BALB/cA and BALB/cB), after exposure to varying concentrations of cisplatin (0.1, 1 and 5 mg/kg). Results Cisplatin treatment induced similar responses for body and organ weights, serum analyzing factors, and blood analyzing factors in all BALB/c substrains with CT26 syngeneic tumor. Few differences were detected in the volume and histopathological structure of the CT26 tumor. Growth inhibition of CT26 tumors after exposure to cisplatin was greater in the BALB/cB substrain than BALB/cKorl and BALB/cA substrains, and a similar pattern was observed in the histopathological structure of tumors. However, the expression levels of other tumor-related factors, including Ki67, p27, p53, Bcl-2-associated X protein (Bax), B-cell lymphoma 2 (Bcl-2), caspase-3 (Cas-3), matrix metallopeptidase 2 (MMP2) and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) proteins, were constantly maintained in the tumors of all three substrains after cisplatin treatment. A similar decrease pattern was observed for the expressions of inflammatory cytokines, including interleukin (IL)-1 beta, IL-6 and IL-10, in the CT26 tumors of the three BALB/c substrains. Conclusions Taken together, results of the present study indicate that the genetic background of the three BALB/c substrains has no major effect on the therapeutic responsiveness of cisplatin, except growth and histopathology of the CT26 syngeneic tumor. | Gong, Jeong Eun; Jin, You Jung; Kim, Ji Eun; Choi, Yun Ju; Lee, Su Jin; Kim, Kil Soo; Jung, Young Suk; Cho, Joon Yong; Lim, Yong; Kang, Hyun Gu; Hwang, Dae Youn | Pusan Natl Univ, Life & Ind Convergence Res Inst, BK21 FOUR Program,Lab Anim Resources Ctr, Dept Biomat Sci,Coll Nat Resources & Life Sci, Miryang, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Coll Vet Med, Daegu, South Korea; Pusan Natl Univ, Coll Pharm, Busan, South Korea; Korea Natl Sport Univ, Exercise Biochem Lab, Seoul, South Korea; Dong Eui Univ, Dept Clin Lab Sci, Coll Nursing & Healthcare Sci, Busan, South Korea; Chungbuk Natl Univ, Dept Vet Theriogenol, Coll Vet Med, Cheongju, South Korea | Kim, Seung/N-5248-2019; Kim, Sungchan/AAC-9521-2019; Kim, Ji/AAU-5043-2020 | 57215083654; 57323040500; 59375066900; 55819466900; 59712346200; 35272034300; 56428348300; 7403535804; 35262596100; 55194469400; 26325632700 | dyhwang@pusan.ac.kr; | LABORATORY ANIMAL RESEARCH | LAB ANIM RES | 1738-6055 | 2233-7660 | 37 | 1 | ESCI | MEDICINE, RESEARCH & EXPERIMENTAL;VETERINARY SCIENCES | 2021 | N/A | 0.1 | 2025-07-30 | 2 | 2 | BALB; c; BALB; cKorl; Substrains; Cisplatin; CT26 colon cancer cell | GENE-EXPRESSION; CANCER; INHIBITION; INDUCTION; MICE; P53 | BALB/c; BALB/cKorl; Cisplatin; CT26 colon cancer cell; Substrains | English | 2021 | 2021-12-08 | 10.1186/s42826-021-00110-3 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | |||
| ○ | ○ | Article | Comparison of immunohistochemical analysis on sinus augmentation using demineralized tooth graft and bovine bone | Objectives: The purpose of this animal research was to compare bone regeneration in augmented rabbit maxillary sinuses treated with demineralized particulate human-tooth graft and anorganic bovine bone by immunohistochemical analysis. Materials and Methods: Piezoelectric bilateral sinus augmentation was performed in eight adult rabbits. In the control group, anorganic bovine was grafted in the maxillary sinus following elevation of the sinus membrane. In the experimental group, demineralized human particulate tooth bone was grafted in the sinus. Bone regeneration in augmented sinuses was evaluated by immunohistochemical analysis using various markers of osteoprogenitor cells. Results: The number of bromodeoxyuridine-labeled cells was significantly higher in the experimental group than in the control group at eight weeks. The immunoreactivity of proliferating-cell nuclear antigen was increased slightly in the experimental group relative to the control group at eight weeks. Other bone markers were expressed equally in the two groups. Conclusion: In the rabbit maxillary sinus, higher osteoinduction was correlated with demineralized human particulate tooth bone grafting than with anorganic bovine grafting. | Sohn, Dong-Seok; Kim, Ji-Rak; Kim, Hyung-Gyun; Choi, Hyun-Suk; Moon, Yong-Suk | Daegu Catholic Univ, Sch Med, Dept Dent & Oral & Maxillofacial Surg, Daegu, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Sch Dent, Dept Oral Med, Daegu, South Korea; Daegu Catholic Univ, Sch Med, Dept Dent & Prosthodont, Daegu, South Korea; Daegu Catholic Univ, Sch Med, Dept Anat, 33 Duryugongwon Ro 17 Gil, Daegu 42472, South Korea | 12776632100; 57207438323; 57205372231; 57249619000; 12139872300 | essay2ndtree@daum.net; | JOURNAL OF THE KOREAN ASSOCIATION OF ORAL AND MAXILLOFACIAL SURGEONS | J KOR ASSOC ORAL MAX | 2234-7550 | 2234-5930 | 47 | 4 | ESCI | DENTISTRY, ORAL SURGERY & MEDICINE | 2021 | N/A | 0.33 | 2025-07-30 | 2 | 2 | Maxillary sinus lift; Demineralized tooth bone; Replaceable bony window; Immunohistochemical assay | DISTRACTION OSTEOGENESIS; CELL-PROLIFERATION; MATRIX PROTEINS; FLOOR; TISSUE; DENTIN; OSTEOPONTIN; ANTIBODIES; PLACEMENT; ELEVATION | Demineralized tooth bone; Immunohistochemical assay; Maxillary sinus lift; Replaceable bony window | biological marker; broxuridine; collagen type 1; cycline; epinephrine; gentamicin; ketamine; lidocaine; osteocalcin; osteopontin; urethan; xylazine; adult; animal experiment; Article; bone graft; bone regeneration; bovine bone graft; cell count; cell surface; connective tissue; controlled study; demineralized human particulate tooth bone graft; fibroblast; histology; human; immunohistochemistry; immunoreactivity; intermethod comparison; male; maxillary sinus augmentation; morphometry; nasal bone; New Zealand White (rabbit); nonhuman; osteoblast; osteocyte; osteoprogenitor cell; piezoelectricity; protein expression; surgical technique | English | 2021 | 2021-08 | 10.5125/jkaoms.2021.47.4.269 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | |||
| ○ | ○ | Article | Comparison of intrinsic exercise capacity and response to acute exercise in ICR (Institute of Cancer Research) mice derived from three different lineages | Background As a laboratory animal resource, the ICR mouse is commonly used in a variety of research fields. However, information on differences in exercise-related characteristics in ICR mice derived from different lineages and the underlying mechanisms remains to be elucidated. In this study, we investigated the intrinsic exercise capacity and a magnitude of response to acute exercise, and sought to identify mechanisms contributing to difference in Korl:ICR (a novel ICR lineage recently established by the National Institute of Food and Drug Safety Evaluation, Korea) and two commercialized ICR lineages derived from different origins (viz., A:ICR mouse from Orient Bio Com, the United States, and B:ICR mouse from Japan SLC Inc., Japan). Results Results showed that despite no significant difference in body weight and weight-proportioned tissue mass of heart and skeletal muscles among groups, the relatively low intrinsic exercise capacity and exaggerated response to acute exercise were identified in B:ICR comparted with Korl:ICR and A:ICR, as reflected by total work and lactate threshold (LT). Also, the mitochondrial efficiency expressed as the complex 1 and complex 1 + 2 respiratory control ratio (RCR) values for cardiac mitochondrial O-2 consumption in B:ICR was significantly lower than that in Korl:ICR with higher level of state 2 respiration by glutamate/malate and UCP3 expression in cardiac muscle. Conclusions Taken together, these results indicate that the intrinsic exercise capacity of ICR mouse varies according to lineages, suggesting the role of cardiac mitochondrial coupling efficiency as a possible mechanism that might contribute to differences in the intrinsic exercise capacity and magnitude of response to exercise. | Hwang, Dong-Joo; Kwon, Ki-Chun; Choi, Dong-Hun; Song, Hyun-Keun; Kim, Kil-Soo; Jung, Young-Suk; Hwang, Dae-Youn; Cho, Joon-Yong | Korea Natl Sport Univ, Exercise Biochem Lab, Seoul, South Korea; INJE Univ, Dept Microbiol & Immunol, Coll Med, Gimhae Si, Gyeongsangnam D, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Coll Vet Med, Daegu, South Korea; Pusan Natl Univ, Coll Pharm, Busandaehak Ro 63beon Gil, Busan, South Korea; Pusan Natl Univ, Coll Nat Resources & Life Sci, Dept Biomat Sci, Life & Ind Convergence Res Inst, Busandaehak Ro 63beon Gil, Busan, South Korea | Kim, Seung/N-5248-2019 | 57194417280; 57222182501; 57192909559; 8062949700; 35272034300; 56428348300; 26325632700; 7403535804 | chojy86@knsu.ac.kr; | LABORATORY ANIMAL RESEARCH | LAB ANIM RES | 1738-6055 | 2233-7660 | 37 | 1 | ESCI | MEDICINE, RESEARCH & EXPERIMENTAL;VETERINARY SCIENCES | 2021 | N/A | 0 | 2025-07-30 | 1 | 0 | Exercise capacity; ICR mouse; Korl; ICR; Mitochondrial coupling efficiency | UNCOUPLING PROTEIN-3; ENERGY-METABOLISM; OXIDATIVE STRESS; MUSCLE; INTERSTRAIN; SKELETAL | Exercise capacity; ICR mouse; Korl:ICR; Mitochondrial coupling efficiency | English | 2021 | 2021-08-04 | 10.1186/s42826-021-00094-0 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | |||
| ○ | ○ | Article | Comparison of murine retroorbital plexus and facial vein blood collection to mitigate animal ethics issues | Background Blood collection is an important procedure used in animal experiments. Blood collection methods that reduce pain, injury, and stress in experimental animals are important with regard to animal ethics. Various comparative studies of blood collection methods have been reported; however, there are no comparative studies on serial blood collection considering animal ethics. To suggest simple methods that minimize pain during serial blood collection, we compared the retroorbital plexus (RP) and facial vein (FV) blood collection methods performed by both experienced and novice groups. The experienced and novice groups collected up to 0.4 mL of blood via the RP and FV methods every second day for 2 weeks. After blood collection, all mice were evaluated by corticosterone concentrations for stress, hematological, immunological, and histological analyses. Results We found that the FV methods reduced the collection time, pain, distress, tissue damage and lasting harms without anesthesia. Corticosterone concentrations in the peripheral blood were decreased in mice subjected FV methods compare with those subjected to RP methods. The proportion of granulocytes and monocytes, such as macrophages in the peripheral blood and spleen, was decreased in mice subjected to FV methods compared with that in mice subjected to RP methods in both experienced and novice groups. White blood cells were infiltrated in RP areas with severe tissue damage and inflammation. Conclusions With respect to animal ethics, we suggest that the FV method, a simple and fast technique that can easily be performed by both experienced and novice researchers, is suitable for serial blood collection. | Jo, Eun Jung; Bae, Eunjin; Yoon, Jeong-Hwan; Kim, Ji Yeon; Han, Jin Soo | Konkuk Univ, Coll Vet Med, Dept Lab Anim Med, Seoul 05029, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ Hosp, Biomed Res Inst, Daegu 41944, South Korea | 57209279353; 57601004300; 55882638700; 58159218900; 43262252200 | labvet@konkuk.ac.kr; | LABORATORY ANIMAL RESEARCH | LAB ANIM RES | 1738-6055 | 2233-7660 | 37 | 1 | ESCI | MEDICINE, RESEARCH & EXPERIMENTAL;VETERINARY SCIENCES | 2021 | N/A | 0.29 | 2025-07-30 | 11 | 10 | Serial blood collection method; Facial vein; Retroorbital plexus; Animal ethics | OXIDATIVE STATUS; RATS; MICE; PARAMETERS; REMOVAL; QUALITY; ANXIETY; LEVEL | Animal ethics; Facial vein; Retroorbital plexus; Serial blood collection method | English | 2021 | 2021-05-06 | 10.1186/s42826-021-00090-4 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | ||||
| ○ | Article | Comparison of Program Representations on Vulnerability Detection with Graph Neural Networks | As software vulnerabilities have surged, efforts to discover them have increased. The syntactic and semantic information of a program is required to detect vulnerabilities. Each information can be represented as a graph, such as Abstract Syntax Tree and Program Dependency Graph. In this paper, the program representations were extracted using various static analysis tools, including Clang Static Analyzer, Joern, and SVF, and compared using Graph Neural Networks to select the appropriate representations for vulnerability detection in C/C++. From the comparison, PDG shows the best performance among the multiple representations. This result indicates a suitable program representation and a tool for vulnerability detection that can be utilized in research utilizing graph neural networks. | ○ | ○ | Article | Comparison of response to LPS-induced sepsis in three DBA/2 stocks derived from different sources | Sepsis, one of the most fatal diseases in the world, is known to culminate in multiple organ failure due to an uncontrolled inflammatory response. Hence, the use of animal models in sepsis research is very important to study complex immune responses. The current study was undertaken to compare commercial stocks with KFDA stocks of DBA/2 mice as an animal model for sepsis study. To compare responses of DBA/2 mice to lipopolysaccharides (LPS)-induced sepsis, we measured altered characteristics of various factors associated with sepsis, including survival curves, organ failure and inflammatory response, in DBA/2Korl stock and two commercial stocks (DBA/2A and DBA/2B). Survival rates after LPS exposure were similar for DBA/2Korl and DBA/2B; however, for times over 20 h, survival rates were reduced and concentration dependent in DBA/2A. In order to evaluate multiple organ failure caused by sepsis, H&E stains were evaluated for liver and spleen tissues obtained in the early (2 h) and later (20 h) stages after exposure to LPS; no significant differences were observed between the three stocks. mRNA and protein levels of proinflammatory cytokines were assessed for evaluating inflammatory reactions, and were found to increase in a dose-dependent manner in most DBA/2 mice after LPS treatment. However, no changes were observed in the mRNA levels of proinflammatory cytokines at 20 h after LPS exposure in the DBA/2A stock. The induction of inflammation-mediated factors by LPS exposure did not induce alterations in the mRNA levels of COX-2 and iNOS in all three DBA/2 stocks. Our results indicate that response of DBA/2Korl to LPS-induced sepsis is similar to the two commercial DBA/2 stocks, thus representing its potential as a useful biological resource established in Korea. | Park, Ji Won; Lee, Su Jin; Kim, Ji Eun; Kang, Mi Ju; Bae, Su Ji; Choi, Yun Ju; Gong, Jeong Eun; Kim, Kil Soo; Jung, Young-Suk; Cho, Joon-Yong; Choi, Yeon Shik; Hwang, Dae Youn; Song, Hyun Keun | Pusan Natl Univ, Dept Biomat Sci, Coll Nat Resources & Life Sci, Life & Ind Convergence Res Inst,Lab Anim Resource, Miryang, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Coll Vet Med, Daegu, South Korea; Pusan Natl Univ, Coll Pharm, Busan, South Korea; Korea Natl Sport Univ, Exercise Biochem Lab, Seoul, South Korea; Korea Bio Polytech Coll, Dept Biomed Anal, Nonsan, South Korea; Kinesiences Co, Cent Res Inst, Seoul, South Korea | Kim, Seung/N-5248-2019; Kim, Ji/AAU-5043-2020 | 57203924020; 59712346200; 59375066900; 57203929408; 57206855055; 55819466900; 57215083654; 35272034300; 56428348300; 7403535804; 58158652600; 26325632700; 8062949700 | dyhwang@pusan.ac.kr;kali71@hanmail.com;kali71@hanmail.net; | LABORATORY ANIMAL RESEARCH | LAB ANIM RES | 1738-6055 | 2233-7660 | 37 | 1 | ESCI | MEDICINE, RESEARCH & EXPERIMENTAL;VETERINARY SCIENCES | 2021 | N/A | 0.67 | 2025-07-30 | 15 | 18 | DBA; 2; DBA; 2Kor; LPS; Sepsis; Pro-inflammatory cytokine | ANIMAL-MODELS; UNITED-STATES; SHOCK; EPIDEMIOLOGY; INFLAMMATION; DEFINITIONS; MORTALITY; MURINE; MICE | DBA/2; DBA/2Kor; LPS; Pro-inflammatory cytokine; Sepsis | English | 2021 | 2021-01-07 | 10.1186/s42826-020-00079-5 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | |||
| ○ | Article | Complete genome sequence and antimicrobial activities of bacillus velezensis MV2 isolated from a malva verticillate leaf | A bacterial strain isolated from a Malva verticillata leaf was identified as Bacillus velezensis MV2 based on the 16S rRNA sequencing results. Complete genome sequencing revealed that B. velezensis MV2 possessed a single 4,191,702-bp contig with 45.57% GC content. Generally, Bacillus spp. are known to produce diverse antimicrobial compounds including bacteriocins, polyketides, and non-ribosomal peptides. Antimicrobial compounds in the B. velezensis MV2 were extracted from culture supernatants using hydrophobic interaction chromatography. The crude extracts showed antimicrobial activity against both gram-positive bacteria and gram-negative bacteria; however, they were more effective against gram-positive bacteria. The extracts also showed antifungal activity against phytopathogenic fungi such as Fusarium fujikuroi and F. graminearum. In time-kill assays, these antimicrobial compounds showed bactericidal activity against Bacillus cereus, used as indicator strain. To predict the type of antimicrobial compounds produced by this strain, we used the antiSMASH algorithm. Forty-seven secondary metabolites were predicted to be synthesized in MV2, and among them, fourteen were identified with a similarity of 80% or more with those previously identified. Based on the antimicrobial properties, the antimicrobial compounds may be nonribosomal peptides or polyketides. These compounds possess the potential to be used as biopesticides in the food and agricultural industry as an alternative to antibiotics. © 2021, The Korean Society for Microbiology and Biotechnology | Lee, Hyeonju; Jo, Eunhye; Kim, Jihye; Moon, Keumok; Kim, Min Ji; Shin, Jae-Ho; Cha, Jaeho | Department of Microbiology, College of Natural Sciences, Pusan National University, Busan, 46241, South Korea; Department of Microbiology, College of Natural Sciences, Pusan National University, Busan, 46241, South Korea; Department of Microbiology, College of Natural Sciences, Pusan National University, Busan, 46241, South Korea; Department of Microbiology, College of Natural Sciences, Pusan National University, Busan, 46241, South Korea; School of Applied Biosciences, College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, Kyungpook National University, Daegu, 41566, South Korea; School of Applied Biosciences, College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, Kyungpook National University, Daegu, 41566, South Korea; Department of Microbiology, College of Natural Sciences, Pusan National University, Busan, 46241, South Korea | 57223001066; 57216320881; 57222644443; 25122972800; 57127351600; 57224125922; 7202455748 | jhcha@pusan.ac.kr; | Microbiology and Biotechnology Letters | 1598-642X | 49 | 1 | 0 | 2025-07-30 | 0 | Antibacterial activity; Antifungal activity; Bacillus velezensis; Malva verticillata; Whole genome sequence | antiinfective agent; bacterial extract; contig; RNA 16S; algorithm; antifungal activity; antimicrobial activity; Article; Bacillus cereus; Bacillus velezensis; Bacillus velezensis MV2; bacterial genome; bacterial strain; bactericidal activity; bacterium culture; bacterium identification; bacterium isolation; controlled study; DNA base composition; drug efficacy; Fusarium fujikuroi; Fusarium graminearum; Gram negative bacterium; Gram positive bacterium; hydrophobic interaction chromatography; Malva; Malva verticillate; metabolite; nonhuman; plant leaf; RNA sequencing; supernatant; synthesis; whole genome sequencing | Korean | Final | 2021 | 10.48022/mbl.2011.11005 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | |||||||||||||||

| ○ | Article | Complete Transection of the Cystic Duct and Artery after Blunt Trauma: A Case Report | Extrahepatic biliary tract and gallbladder injuries following blunt abdominal trauma are uncommon. Traumatic cystic duct transection is even rarer, which has frequently caused missed diagnosis and delayed treatment. An 18-year-old female patient with no past medical history was transferred to the Trauma Center of Kyungpook National University Hospital after falling from a height of approximately 20 meters. She became hemodynamically stable after initial resuscitation, and initial contrast-enhanced abdominal computed tomography (CT) showed right kidney traumatic infarction and multiple intrahepatic contusions with minimal fluid collection but no extravasation of the contrast. She was admitted to the intensive care unit. On the second day of hospital-ization, her abdomen became distended, with follow-up CT showing a large collection of intra-abdominal fluid. Laparoscopic exploration was then performed, which revealed devascularization of the gallbladder with complete transection of the cystic duct and artery. Laparoscopic cholecystectomy was performed, as well as primary closure of the cystic duct orifice on the common bile duct using a 4-0 Prolene suture. After surgery, no clinical evidence of biliary leakage or common bile duct stricture was observed. © 2021 The Korean Society of Traumatology. | Cho, Sung Hoon; Lim, Kyoung Hoon | Trauma Center, Department of Surgery, Kyungpook National University Hospital, School of Medicine, Kyungpook National University, Daegu, South Korea; Trauma Center, Department of Surgery, Kyungpook National University Hospital, School of Medicine, Kyungpook National University, Daegu, South Korea | 57755400700; 25630643100 | drlimkh@knu.ac.kr; | Journal of Trauma and Injury | 2799-4317 | 34 | 4 | 0.16 | 2025-07-30 | 1 | Blunt trauma; Cystic duct; Gallbladder | English | Final | 2021 | 10.20408/jti.2021.0097 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | ||||||||||||||||
| ○ | ○ | Article | Complications caused by iatrogenic right-to-left shunt after surgical closure of atrial septal defect: a case report | Background Atrial septal defect (ASD) is a common congenital heart disease. For this condition, surgical treatment can be required depending on the size and type of ASD. This study included a case of a patient who complained of persistent dyspnoea after the surgical treatment for ASD. Case summary A 16-year-old girl who underwent a surgical patch closure for ASD at the age of 2 years presented to the emergency department and was diagnosed with acute stroke. Since childhood, she had suffered from exertional dyspnoea due to an unknown cause. Transthoracic echocardiography revealed normal chambers size and function and no signs of right heart strain. Transoesophageal echocardiography (TOE) revealed a misplaced interatrial patch from the previous surgery, which allowed the whole blood to flow from the inferior vena cava (IVC) to the left atrium (LA), creating a large right-to-left shunt that resulted in stroke and heart failure. The patient underwent surgical treatment, and her symptoms improved significantly. Six months later, she was doing well without neurological complications and dyspnoea. Discussion This patient experienced stroke at the age of 16 years and had been suffering from heart failure since childhood. A large right-to-left shunt flow from the IVC to the LA by misplaced interatrial patch was found using TOE, right-sided heart catheterization, and inferior caval venography. This diagnosis should be considered in patients complaining of persistent dyspnoea with hypoxia after the surgical repair of ASD. | Kim, Myeong Seop; Jang, Se Yong; Yang, Dong Heon | Kyungpook Natl Univ Hosp, Dept Internal Med, Div Cardiol, 130 Dongdeok Ro, Daegu 41944, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Dept Internal Med, Div Cardiol, Chilgok Hosp, 807 Hoguk Ro, Daegu 41944, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Sch Med, Dept Internal Med, 680 Gukchaebosang Ro, Daegu 41944, South Korea | 57371425600; 57207977889; 35277423400 | seyongjang@knu.ac.kr; | EUROPEAN HEART JOURNAL-CASE REPORTS | EUR HEART J-CASE REP | 2514-2119 | 5 | 11 | ESCI | CARDIAC & CARDIOVASCULAR SYSTEMS | 2021 | N/A | 0.1 | 2025-07-30 | 0 | 2 | Atrial septal defect; Chronic heart failure; Complication; Hypoxaemia; Postoperative; Case report | Atrial septal defect; Case report; Chronic heart failure; Complication; Hypoxaemia; Postoperative | contrast medium; adolescent; aphasia; Article; brain infarction; case report; cerebrovascular accident; clinical article; computed tomographic angiography; computer assisted tomography; contrast enhancement; cyanosis; differential diagnosis; dyspnea; electrocardiography monitoring; emergency ward; exertional dyspnea; female; follow up; heart atrium septum defect; heart catheterization; heart left atrium; heart left ventricle contractility; heart right left shunt; heart right ventricle; heart right ventricle contractility; heart sound; heart surgery; human; inferior cava vein; lip; lung circulation; middle cerebral artery; motor performance; nail; nuclear magnetic resonance imaging; oxygen saturation; paradoxical embolism; paroxysmal tachycardia; patient history of surgery; pediatric surgery; phlebography; physical activity; physical examination; pulmonary valve insufficiency; right sided heart catheterization; stair climbing; superior cava vein; surgical patch closure; thorax radiography; transesophageal echocardiography; transthoracic echocardiography; tricuspid valve regurgitation; vein blood flow | English | 2021 | 2021-11 | 10.1093/ehjcr/ytab434 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | |||||
| ○ | Article | Comprehensive study of components affecting extrinsic transconductance in In0.7Ga0.3As quantum-well high-electron-mobility transistors for image sensor applications | The components affecting the extrinsic transconductance (gmₑₓₜ) in In0.7Ga0.3As quantum-well (QW) high-electron-mobility transistors (HEMTs) on an InP substrate were investigated. First, comprehensive modeling, which only requires physical parameters, was used to explain both the intrinsic transconductance (gmᵢₙₜ) and the gmₑₓₜ of the devices. Two types of In0.7Ga0.3As QW HEMT were fabricated with gate lengths ranging from 10 μm to sub-100 nm. These measured results were correlated with the modeling to describe the device behavior using analytical expressions. To study the effects of the components affecting gmᵢₙₜ, the proposed approach was extended to projection by changing the values of physical parameters, such as series resistances (RS and RD), apparent mobility (μnₐₚₚ), and saturation velocity (vsat). © 2021, Korean Sensors Society. | ○ | Conference paper | Computational Analysis of Conjugate Buoyant Convective Transport in an Annulus | In the present work, the convective flow and thermal pattern, associated heat transport rates of buoyant convection in an annular geometry is theoretically analyzed. The inner cylindrical wall has finite thickness and is kept at high temperature, while the outer cylindrical wall is held at low temperature. The vorticity-stream function form of model equations are solved using FDM based on ADI and SLOR techniques. The numerical simulations for various parameters are presented. In particular, this analysis focused on the effects of conjugate heat transport characteristics. © 2021, Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. | Kiran, S.; Keerthi Reddy, N.; Sankar, M.; Do, Younghae | Department of Mathematics, Nitte Meenakshi Institute of Technology, Bengaluru, 560064, Karnataka, India; Department of Mathematics, School of Engineering, Presidency University, Bengaluru, India; Department of Mathematics, School of Engineering, Presidency University, Bengaluru, India; Department of Mathematics, Kyungpook National University, Daegu, South Korea | 57190864069; 57218368327; 6701530391; 7103101109 | msankar@presidencyuniversity.in; | Lecture Notes in Mechanical Engineering | 2195-4356 | 0.96 | 2025-07-30 | 3 | Annulus; Conjugate heat transfer; FDM | English | Final | 2021 | 10.1007/978-981-15-4308-1_68 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | ||||||||||||||||||
| ○ | ○ | Article | Conflation of the Japanese Colonial Museums in Korea | During the Japanese colonial period (1910-1945) in Korea, the Japanese constructed new architecturally modern buildings in Korea, applying Japanese style-architecture and elements of Western architectural derivations. Under the political strategy of cultural ruling (bunka seiji) in 1920, the new Korean style of architectural forms and styles interestingly burgeoned, boosted by ideas of progress and modernity in Korea. The artistic forms and the contained meanings of institutional buildings and museum architectures of the colonial period, however, have yet to be explored in modern scholarship, even though most major museums in Korea were built during the colonial period. In this article, the National Museum of Art, Deoksugung is examined to seek the progressive transition and transformation to art museum buildings during the Japanese colonial period. The contemporary exhibits, exhibition spaces, and architectural forms of collaborative expositions in Japan and Korea, such as the Keijo Exhibition of 1907, and the Colonial Expositions held in 1915 and 1929 in Korea, which defined the conversion of display and the perception of art during the colonial period, will also be analyzed. Finally, how Korea realized modernization based on traditional art and culture under Japan's colonial rule is hoped to be explored. | Lee, Jungwon | Kyungpook Natl Univ, Dept Art, Daehakro 80, Daegu 41566, South Korea | 57226865678 | leejungwon@knu.ac.kr; | INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF THE INCLUSIVE MUSEUM | 1835-2014 | 1835-2022 | 14 | 2 | 0 | 2025-07-30 | 0 | 0 | Colonial Museum; Museum Architecture; National Museums in Korea; History of Museums | POLITICS | Colonial museum; History of museums; Museum architecture; National museums in Korea | English | 2021 | 2021-12 | 10.18848/1835-2014/cgp/v14i02/83-94 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 |
