| ○ | ○ | Review | Titanium Isopropoxide (TTIP) Treatment Strategy for V2O5-WO3/TiO2 SCR Catalysts with a Wide Operating Temperature | Selective catalytic reduction (SCR) is the most effective method for reducing nitrogen oxide emissions, but the operating tem-perature range of V2O5-WO3/TiO2 catalysts is narrow (300-400 & DEG;C). In this study, a new catalyst with an operating temper-ature range of 200-450 & DEG;C was developed. The catalyst poison, ammonium bisulfate, generated during the SCR process can be removed by heating above 350 & DEG;C. To increase the number of active sites and promote the dispersion of active materials, titanium isopropoxide (TTIP) treatment was performed on the TiO2 support with various TTIP/TiO2 mass ratios. Among them, the 5 wt% TTIP loaded catalyst showed improved performance due to higher thermal stability caused by high W dispersion and the formation of V5+. In addition, the 5 wt% TTIP-loaded catalyst prepared by a one-step co-precipitation method showed greater V-OH and W-OH dispersion and enhanced interactions in contrast to conventional methods, resulting in higher cata-lytic activity at lower temperatures. This review article aims to provide an accessible explanation for researchers investigating how to improve the surface properties of TiO2 catalysts using TTIP. | Lee, Jaeho; Cho, Gwang-hun; Lee, Geumyeon; Yim, Changyong; Lee, Young-Sei; Kim, Taewook | Kyungpook Natl Univ, Dept Energy Chem Engn, Sangju 37224, South Korea; Korea Marine Equipment Res Inst, Conform Management Team, Busan 49111, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Dept Adv Sci & Technol Convergence, Sangju 37224, South Korea | Yim, Changyong/AAI-8356-2020 | 58974708900; 58577102900; 57223329686; 36877182000; 36013623600; 57030752600 | mikybuzz@naver.com;gh2oo@naver.com;geumyeon@komeri.re.kr;cy.yim@knu.ac.kr;ysl@knu.ac.kr;taewook@knu.ac.kr; | APPLIED CHEMISTRY FOR ENGINEERING | APPL CHEM ENG | 1225-0112 | 1228-4505 | 34 | 4 | ESCI | ENGINEERING, CHEMICAL | 2023 | 0.4 | 93.2 | 0 | 2025-06-25 | 0 | 0 | Selective catalytic reduction (SCR); Vanadium oxide; Tungsten oxide; Operating temperature range; Titanium isopropoxide (TTIP) | PHOTOCATALYTIC PERFORMANCE; MECHANISTIC ASPECTS; REDUCTION SCR; NOX; NH3; ACIDITY; DISPERSION; EMISSIONS; AMMONIA; OXIDE | Operating temperature range; Selective catalytic reduction (SCR); Titanium isopropoxide (TTIP); Tungsten oxide; Vanadium oxide | English | 2023 | 2023-08 | 10.14478/ace.2023.1048 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | ||
| ○ | ○ | Article | Voltammetric Sensor Incorporated with Conductive Polymer, Tyrosinase, and Ionic Liquid Electrolyte for Bisphenol F | In this study, conductive polymers and the enzyme tyrosinase (Tyr) were deposited on the surface of a screen printed carbon electrode (SPCE), which can be fabricated as a disposable sensor chip, and applied to the detection of bisphenol F (BPF), an endocrine disruptor with proven links to male diseases and thyroid disorders, using electrochemical methods. On the surface of the SPCE working electrode, which was negatively charged by oxygen plasma treatment, a positively charged conductive polymer, poly(diallyldimethyl ammonium chloride) (PDDA), a negatively charged polymer compound, poly(sodium 4-styrenesulfonate) (PSS), and another layer of PDDA were layered by electrostatic attraction in the order of PDDA, PSS, and finally PDDA. Then, a layer of Tyr, which was negatively charged due to pH adjustment to 7.0, was added to create a PDDA-PSS-PDDA-Tyr sensor for BPF. When the electrode sensor is exposed to a BPF solution, which is the substrate and target analyte, 4,4'-methylenebis(cyclohexa-3,5-diene-1,2-dione) is generated by an oxidation reaction with the Tyr enzyme on the electrode surface. The reduction process of the product at 0.1 V (vs. Ag/AgCl) generating 4,4'-methylenebis(benzene-1,2-diol) was measured using cyclic and differential pulse voltammetries, resulting in a change in the peak current with respect to the concentration of BPF. In addition, we compared the detection performance of BPF using an ionic liquid electrolyte as an alternative to phosphate-buffered saline, which has been used in many previous sensing studies. Furthermore, the selectivity of bisphenol S, which acts as an interfering substance with a similar structure to BPF, was investigated. Finally, we demonstrated the practical applicability of the sensor by applying it to analyze the concentration of BPF in real samples prepared in the laboratory. | Ji, Sung Eun; Lee, Sang Hyuk; Lee, Hye Jin | Kyungpook Natl Univ, Dept Chem, Daegu 41566, South Korea | LEE, HYEJIN/W-1345-2018 | 58419117600; 55188583800; 56569175200 | aussie9408@gmail.com;ycwysh2@knu.ac.kr;hyejinlee@knu.ac.kr; | APPLIED CHEMISTRY FOR ENGINEERING | APPL CHEM ENG | 1225-0112 | 1228-4505 | 34 | 3 | ESCI | ENGINEERING, CHEMICAL | 2023 | 0.4 | 93.2 | 0 | 2025-06-25 | 0 | 0 | Bisphenol F; Voltammetric measurements; Tyrosinase; Screen printed carbon electrode; Ionic liquid | Bisphenol F; Ionic liquid; Screen printed carbon electrode; Tyrosinase; Voltammetric measurements | English | 2023 | 2023-06 | 10.14478/ace.2023.1032 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | |||
| ○ | ○ | Article | Zea Mays Cob Extract-containing Polyurethane Nanofiber Webs | Even though nanofibrous materials have excellent protectability against microorganisms such as bacteria and virus, their functionality can be upgraded by incorporating natural substances with diverse bioactivities and biocompat-ibility. In this study, Zea mays cob extract (ZME)/polyurethane (PU) nanofiber webs were fabricated by ZME-doped elec-trospinning of PU, and their physical characteristics and bioactivities were investigated. Based on the observation by scanning electron microscope, the diameter and pore size of ZME/PU nanofiber decreased as compared with those of PU nanofiber. ZME/PU nanofiber webs had a certain level of absorptivity in that a significant decrease of water contact angle below 80 degrees was revealed within 10 sec, while PU nanofiber web had very little wettability. Moreover, ZME/PU nanofiber webs had antioxidative activity and antimicrobial activity of 99.9% without any cytotoxicity, suggesting that they can be applied to healthcare and biomedical materials for antiaging and wound healing. | Kim, Jae Hun; Kim, Young Jin; Choi, Yoon Seong; Lee, Hye Won; Kim, Ji Yoon; Han, Sula; Choi, Jin Hyun | Kyungpook Natl Univ, Dept Biofibers & Biomat Sci, Daegu 41566, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Dept Carbon Hybrid Fiber Sci, Daegu 41566, South Korea; MRINNOVATION Co Ltd, Daegu 42251, South Korea; SOFNT Inc, Seoul 06150, South Korea | 58620153400; 59621332200; 57013770300; 58619902900; 57208110209; 58619645000; 36076723600 | jinhchoi@knu.ac.kr; | POLYMER-KOREA | POLYM-KOREA | 0379-153X | 2234-8077 | 47 | 5 | SCIE | POLYMER SCIENCE | 2023 | 0.4 | 93.2 | 0 | 2025-06-25 | 0 | 0 | Zea mays cob extract/polyurethane nanofiber webs; electrospinning; antioxidative activity; antimicrobial activity; cytotoxicity | ELECTROSPUN NANOFIBERS; MATS; CAPACITY; ETHANOL; L. | antimicrobial activity; antioxidative activity; cytotoxicity; electrospinning; Zea mays cob extract/polyurethane nanofiber webs | English | 2023 | 2023-09 | 10.7317/pk.2023.47.5.634 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | |||
| ○ | ○ | Article | Analysis of Multiple Fin-type Vertical GaN Power Transistors based on Bulk GaN Substrates | In this study, the multiple fin-type vertical GaN power transistor based on the GaN-on-GaN were analyzed using the two-dimensional technical computer-aided design (2-D TCAD) simulations. In the field of the electric vehicle systems requiring a high operation voltage of 1,000 V or more, the power devices have a large device area because of the long distance between the gate region and the drain region. This problem can be addressed by using the fin-type vertical GaN power transistor, which can reduce the device area due to its vertical channel. For the high current performance, the multiple fin-type structure was required. Thus, we investigated characteristics depending on the number of fin (Nfin). By comparing the on-state drain currents (Ion), the breakdown voltages (BV), and the on-resistances (Ron) with different Nfin, this study provides an understanding of the electrical properties of the multiple fin-type vertical GaN power transistor affected by Nfin. | Heo, Jun Hyeok; Lee, Sang Ho; Park, Jin; Min, So Ra; Kim, Geon Uk; Kang, Ga Eon; Jang, Jaewon; Bae, Jin-Hyuk; Lee, Sin-Hyung; Kang, In Man | Kyungpook Natl Univ, Sch Elect & Elect Engn, Daegu 702201, South Korea | Lee, Sang Ho/MCX-8396-2025; Lee, Sin-Hyung/ABD-6425-2022 | 57884155500; 57416738400; 57376422900; 57671524600; 57727029200; 57883409400; 57194107504; 35326180700; 57226880204; 7203062678 | imkang@ee.knu.ac.kr; | JOURNAL OF SEMICONDUCTOR TECHNOLOGY AND SCIENCE | J SEMICOND TECH SCI | 1598-1657 | 2233-4866 | 23 | 1 | SCIE | ENGINEERING, ELECTRICAL & ELECTRONIC;PHYSICS, APPLIED | 2023 | 0.5 | 93.3 | 0.37 | 2025-06-25 | 2 | 3 | Gallium nitride (GaN); vertical device; power device; fin structure | ALGAN/GAN HEMTS; OPERATION; SI | fin structure; Gallium nitride (GaN); power device; vertical device | Drain current; Electronic design automation; Fins (heat exchange); High electron mobility transistors; III-V semiconductors; Power transistors; Computer-aided design; Fin types; Fins structures; Gallium nitride; Gallium nitride substrate; Power devices; TCAD simulation; Two-dimensional; Vehicle system; Vertical devices; Gallium nitride | English | 2023 | 2023-02 | 10.5573/jsts.2023.23.1.17 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | |
| ○ | ○ | Article | Design of a Vertical Cylinder GaN Junctionless FET based on its GaN-on-GaN Substrate and Electrical Performance | study presents a comparative analysis of the vertical cylinder and fin-type junctionless fieldeffect transistors (JLFETs) based on GaN-on-GaN substrates using three-dimensional technical computer-aided design (3D TCAD) simulations. The on-current (I-on) values of the vertical cylinder and fin- type JLFETs are 6.45 and 5.63 kA/cm(2), respectively. The corresponding off-current (I-off) of the devices is calculated as 2.51 x 10(-10) and 9.72 x 10(-2) A/cm(2), respectively. Furthermore, their corresponding I-on/I-off ratios are 2.57 x 10(13) and 5.79 x 10(4), respectively. Additionally, the I-off ratio of the devices is 2.58 x 10(9), and the subthreshold swing (SS) is calculated as 101 and 346 mV/dec, respectively. The static resistance (R-on) and breakdown voltage (BV) represent the figure of merits of the power transistor. Herein, R-on of the vertical cylinder-type device is 0.11 mu Omega.cm(2), which is lower than 0.62 mu Omega.cm(2) of the vertical fin-type device, whereas their corresponding BVs are calculated as 2,400 and 2,037 V, respectively. These results show that the BV of the vertical cylinder-type device is similar to 17.8% higher than that of the vertical fin-type device. Therefore, the vertical cylinder-type GaN JLFET has a higher performance than the vertical fin-type GaN JLFET. Herein, we provide guidance in the designing of high-performance vertical GaN power transistors. | Jeon, So Ra; Lee, Sang Ho; Park, Jin; Kang, Ga Eon; Heo, Jun Hyeok; Kim, Min Seok; Bae, Seung Ji; Hong, Jeong Woo; Kang, In Man | Kyungpook Natl Univ, Sch Elect & Elect Engn, Daegu 702201, South Korea | Lee, Sang Ho/MCX-8396-2025 | 58070647300; 57416738400; 57376422900; 57883409400; 57884155500; 59073001500; 58485369600; 58485369700; 7203062678 | imkang@ee.knu.ac.kr; | JOURNAL OF SEMICONDUCTOR TECHNOLOGY AND SCIENCE | J SEMICOND TECH SCI | 1598-1657 | 2233-4866 | 23 | 6 | SCIE | ENGINEERING, ELECTRICAL & ELECTRONIC;PHYSICS, APPLIED | 2023 | 0.5 | 93.3 | 0 | 2025-06-25 | 0 | 0 | Gallium nitride (GaN); vertical power transistor; GaN-on-GaN substrate; JLFET | HEMTS; GATE; TRANSISTORS; HFET; SI | Gallium nitride (GaN); GaN-on-GaN substrate; JLFET; vertical power transistor | Cylinders (shapes); Design for testability; Fins (heat exchange); III-V semiconductors; Integrated circuit design; Junction gate field effect transistors; Power field effect transistors; Substrates; Surface discharges; Field-effect transistor; Fin types; Gallium nitride; Gallium nitride substrate; Gallium nitride-on-gallium nitride substrate; Junctionless field-effect transistor; Power; Vertical cylinders; Vertical fins; Vertical power transistor; Gallium nitride | English | 2023 | 2023-12 | 10.5573/jsts.2023.23.6.359 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | |
| ○ | ○ | Article | Design of an Approximate Adder based on Modified Full Adder and Nonzero Truncation for Machine Learning | This paper proposes a novel approximate adder based on a modified full adder that exploits AND-based bit-by-bit carry prediction and OR-based summation, and nonzero truncation scheme. The proposed adder design offers good tradeoff between the computation accuracy and hardware efficiency. When implemented in 32-nm CMOS technology, the proposed adder improves the area, power, and energy by up to 48.9%, 45.6%, and 45.4%, respectively, compared to existing approximate adders considered in this paper. Furthermore, our adder demonstrates excellent processing quality with remarkably reduced hardware resource when applied to image processing and machine learning applications. | Seo, Hyoju; Seok, Hyelin; Lee, Jungwon; Han, Youngsun; Kim, Yongtae | Kyungpook Natl Univ, Sch Comp Sci & Engn, Daegu 41566, South Korea; Pukyong Natl Univ, Dept Comp Engn, Pusan 48513, South Korea | ; Seo, Hyoju/GSD-8672-2022 | 57215662369; 57237930600; 57219710729; 7404096461; 55699627900 | yongtae@knu.ac.kr; | JOURNAL OF SEMICONDUCTOR TECHNOLOGY AND SCIENCE | J SEMICOND TECH SCI | 1598-1657 | 2233-4866 | 23 | 2 | SCIE | ENGINEERING, ELECTRICAL & ELECTRONIC;PHYSICS, APPLIED | 2023 | 0.5 | 93.3 | 0.12 | 2025-06-25 | 1 | 1 | Approximate computing; approximate adder; energy efficiency; machine learning | approximate adder; Approximate computing; energy efficiency; machine learning | Adders; Computing power; Image processing; Machine learning; Adder design; Approximate adder; Approximate computing; Carry prediction; CMOS technology; Computation accuracy; Full adders; Hardware efficiency; Machine-learning; Processing quality; Energy efficiency | English | 2023 | 2023-04 | 10.5573/jsts.2023.23.2.138 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | ||
| ○ | ○ | Article | Electrical Performance Depending on the Grain Boundary-location in the Multiple Nanosheet Tunneling Field-effect Transistor based on the Poly-Si | this study, we present the electrical characteristics of the multiple nanosheet tunneling field-effect transistors (MNSTFETs) based on the polycrystalline silicon (poly-Si) depending on the grain boundary (GB)-locations. The effects of the GB are analyzed for 5 locations and they are compared with the device without the GB. When the GB was located in the tunneling region, the electrical performances were the most inferior compared with the device without the GB. In addition, it shows the electrical characteristics of 125 samples of the MNSTFETs compared with the multiple nanosheet metal-oxide-semiconductor field-effect transistors (MNSMOSFETs). The standard deviations (SDs) of the threshold voltage (VT) of MNSTFET and MNSMOSFET are 3.90 mV and 8.31 mV, respectively. If the GB is not located at 24 nm, the SDs of the average of subthreshold swing (SSave) are 1.50 mV/dec and 4.16 mV/dec, respectively. This simulation shows the GB location than the MNSMOSFET. | Kang, Ga Eon; Lee, Sang Ho; Park, Jin; Min, So Ra; Kim, Geon Uk; Heo, Jun Hyeok; Jang, Jaewon; Bae, Jin-Hyuk; Lee, Sin-Hyung; Kang, In Man | Kyungpook Natl Univ, Sch Elect & Elect Engn, Daegu 702201, South Korea | Lee, Sin-Hyung/ABD-6425-2022; Lee, Sang Ho/MCX-8396-2025 | 57883409400; 57416738400; 57376422900; 57671524600; 57727029200; 57884155500; 57194107504; 35326180700; 57226880204; 7203062678 | imkang@ee.knu.ac.kr; | JOURNAL OF SEMICONDUCTOR TECHNOLOGY AND SCIENCE | J SEMICOND TECH SCI | 1598-1657 | 2233-4866 | 23 | 1 | SCIE | ENGINEERING, ELECTRICAL & ELECTRONIC;PHYSICS, APPLIED | 2023 | 0.5 | 93.3 | 0 | 2025-06-25 | 0 | 0 | Multiple nanosheet tunneling field-effect transistor (MNSTFET); polycrystalline silicon (Poly-Si); grain boundary (GB) | grain boundary (GB); Multiple nanosheet tunneling field-effect transistor (MNSTFET); polycrystalline silicon (Poly-Si) | CMOS integrated circuits; Location; MOS devices; Nanosheets; Oxide semiconductors; Polycrystalline materials; Polysilicon; Threshold voltage; Transistors; Electrical characteristic; Electrical performance; Grain boundary; Grain-boundaries; Metaloxide semiconductor field-effect transistor (MOSFETs); Multiple nanosheet tunneling field-effect transistor; Polycrystalline silicon; Standard deviation; Tunneling field-effect transistors; Tunneling region; Grain boundaries | English | 2023 | 2023-02 | 10.5573/jsts.2023.23.1.8 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | ||
