| ○ | Article | Determination of Liraglutide in Rat Plasma Using Selective Liquid Chromatography–Tandem Mass Spectrometry | Liraglutide is a medication prescribed for the management of type 2 diabetes and chronic obesity. A simple, sensitive, and selective liquid chromatography–tandem mass spectrometry (LC–MS/MS) method was developed and validated for the quantitative analysis of liraglutide in rat plasma. After a simple protein precipitation step, liraglutide was chromatographically separated using the ACQUITY Premier Peptide BEH C18 Column with mobile phases comprising 50% acetonitrile and 50% methanol, and water with 0.3% FA. Positive ion electrospray ionization in multiple reaction monitoring mode was used to achieve detection. Good linearity was observed in the 5–600 ng/mL concentration range (R > 0.99). Liraglutide had intra-and inter-day precision values of 2.13%–9.86% and 4.14%–8.36%, respectively. The accuracy ranged from −2.36% to 2.58%. The2 recovery and matrix effect were within acceptable limits. This selective LC-MS/MS method was used to study the pharmacokinetic properties of liraglutide after subcutaneous administration in rats. © 2023, Korean Society for Mass Spectrometry. | ○ | Review | 60-Year Research History and Future Prospects in Environment Field in Korean Meteorological Society | Research papers in the field of atmospheric environment published in three Journals: Journal of Korean Meteorological Society, Atmosphere, and Asia-Pacific Journal of the Atmospheric Sciences, are all summarized over period of 60 years since the establishment of Korea Meteorological Society (KMS) in 1963. In addition, current research trends and future outlook in the atmospheric environment field has been also highlighted. The results of historical records published in three KMS journals indicated that the activities, contents, and scope of researches carried out by KMS members in the field of atmospheric environment have yielded the enormous and rapid progress in each of the all four areas over 60 years. In particular, as the chronological progress of observational instruments and availability of satellite data such as from GEMS can be a great asset to deepen the observational and modeling researches in the current and future studies, it is highly anticipated that the more progressive and in-depth studies can be achievable to abate the air pollutants over the Korea as well as northeast Asia. | Kim, Cheol-Hee; Park, Rokjin; Kim, Sang-Woo; Lee, Young-Hee; Lee, Sang-Hyun; Song, Chang-Keun | Pusan Natl Univ, Dept Atmospher Sci, 2,Busandaehak Ro 63 Beon Gil, Busan 46241, South Korea; Seoul Natl Univ, Sch Earth & Environm Sci, Seoul, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Dept Astron & Atmospher Sci, Daegu, South Korea; Kongju Natl Univ, Dept Atmospher Sci, Gongu, South Korea; Ulsan Natl Inst Sci & Technol, Dept Urban & Environm Engn, Ulsan, South Korea | Park, Rokjin/I-5055-2012; Kim, Cheol-Hee/F-6278-2013; Lee, Sang-Hyun/B-5974-2013; Song, Chang-Keun/S-2255-2016 | chkim2@pusan.ac.kr; | ATMOSPHERE-KOREA | ATMOS-KOREA | 1598-3560 | 2288-3266 | 33 | 2 | ESCI | METEOROLOGY & ATMOSPHERIC SCIENCES | 2023 | 0.9 | 92.3 | 1 | Key words; Atmospheric environment; KMS journals; APJAS | ASIAN DUST EVENTS; URBAN HEAT-ISLAND; AEROSOL PHYSICAL-CHARACTERISTICS; SEOUL METROPOLITAN-AREA; TOTAL COLUMN OZONE; AIR-QUALITY; EAST-ASIA; CANOPY MODEL; SOUTH-KOREA; YELLOW SEA | English | 2023 | 2023 | 10.14191/atmos.2023.33.2.173 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | |||||||||
| ○ | Review | A Progress Status of Remote Sensing in the Korean Meteorological Society | Remote sensing becomes a new and core framework for the atmospheric sciences and closely related areas concerning with the ever-changing global environmental status. However, remote sensing in the Korea Meteorological Society is relatively new, where the first relevant paper is appeared in 1983, as well as is an area with relatively limited number of research groups. Here, we review and summarize some of the key progress in this area within Korea Meteorological Society focusing on the areas of satellite, radar, and ground based remote sensing such as lidar, spectrometer and sun photometer. Overall, the area is shown to have the most significant progress occur along with the acquisition of the key infra structures such as the COMS (Communication, Ocean and Meteorological Satellite) and S-band radar system led by Korea Meteorological Administration in early 2000. After that, the area has quickly developed into a status playing important roles to lead and support the overall activities in the atmospheric measurements. It is expected that the importance and role of the remote sensing will increase in the coming years. | Ahn, Myoung-Hwan; Kim, Jhoon; Lee, GyuWon; Kim, Sang-Woo | Ewha Womans Univ, Dept Climate & Energy Syst Engn, Seoul, South Korea; Yonsei Univ, Dept Atmospher Sci, Seoul, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Dept Astron & Atmospher Sci, Daegu, South Korea; Seoul Natl Univ, Sch Earth & Environm Sci, Seoul, South Korea; Ewha Womans Univ, Dept Climate & Energy Syst Engn, Ewha Yeodaegil 52, Seoul 03760, South Korea | Kim, Jhoon/F-6635-2013; Ahn, M.H./AAX-3455-2020 | terryahn65@gmail.com; | ATMOSPHERE-KOREA | ATMOS-KOREA | 1598-3560 | 2288-3266 | 33 | 2 | ESCI | METEOROLOGY & ATMOSPHERIC SCIENCES | 2023 | 0.9 | 92.3 | 1 | Remote Sensing; satellite; radar; lidar; spectrometer and sun photometer | AEROSOL OPTICAL DEPTH; GROUND-BASED LIDAR; EAST-ASIA; RETRIEVAL ALGORITHM; DATA ASSIMILATION; POLARIMETRIC RADAR; BRIGHTNESS TEMPERATURE; SATELLITE-OBSERVATIONS; SUN/SKY RADIOMETER; CONVECTIVE SYSTEM | English | 2023 | 2023 | 10.14191/atmos.2023.33.2.197 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | |||||||||
| ○ | Review | Future Development Plans for the Next 60 Years of the Korean Meteorological Society | Celebrating its 60th anniversary, this study suggests the future vision of the Korean Meteorological Society (KMS) for the next 60 years. The vision is "to advance atmospheric science and technology that contributes to human society as well as protect people from not only climate change risks but also weather, climate, and environmental disasters". Based on the suggestions from its members, this study proposes the KMS future development plan as follows. The first plan is to strengthen in leading the development and growth of atmospheric sciences in Korea, especially to improve weather, climate, and environment forecasts and to reduce uncertainty in future climate projections. The second is to enhance interaction not only among its members in academy, Korea Meteorological Administration and related organizations, meteorological industry, and science communicators but also with other related fields such as energy, water resources, agriculture, fishery, and forestry. The third is to enhance in nurturing young scientists by supporting domestic and international networks and training the state-of-the-art sciences, and to create opportunities for young scientists to advance into a wider field. The last is to expand its international activities for solving the challenges facing mankind, such as climate change risks and weather, climate, and environment disasters. The KMS should also continue the efforts to establish an integrative platform for leading fundamental and interdisciplinary research in weather, climate, and environment. | Min, Ki-Hong; Lee, June-Yi; Park, Seon-Ki; Ha, Kyung-Ja; Hong, Yun; Seo, Yongsoek | Kyungpook Natl Univ, Sch Earth Syst Sci, Daegu, South Korea; Pusan Natl Univ, Dept Climate Syst, Busan, South Korea; Ewha Womans Univ, Dept Climate & Energy Syst Engn, Seoul, South Korea; Pusan Natl Univ, Dept Atmospher Sci, Busan, South Korea; Korea Meteorologist Assoc, Seoul, South Korea; Korea Adv Inst Sci & Technol, Grad Sch Future Strategy, Daejeon, South Korea; Pusan Natl Univ, Res Ctr Climate Sci, 30 Jangjeondong, Busan 46241, South Korea; Pusan Natl Univ, Dept Climate Sci, 30 Jangjeondong, Busan 46241, South Korea | Lee, June-Yi/D-5752-2012 | juneyi@pusan.ac.kr; | ATMOSPHERE-KOREA | ATMOS-KOREA | 1598-3560 | 2288-3266 | 33 | 2 | ESCI | METEOROLOGY & ATMOSPHERIC SCIENCES | 2023 | 0.9 | 92.3 | 0 | KMS; weather; climate change; environment; future development | English | 2023 | 2023 | 10.14191/atmos.2023.33.2.297 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | ||||||||||
| ○ | Review | Historical Development of Research and Publications in Atmospheric Physics Field | Research papers published in the Korean Meteorological Society (KMS) journals by the members of KMS since the establishment of KMS in 1963 in the field of atmospheric phys-ics are summarized. A significant number of research papers published in other international journals are also cited in this paper to highlight the achievement of the KMS members in inter-national academic community. The aim is to illustrate the historical development of research activities of the KMS members in the field of atmospheric physics, and indeed it is found that the KMS members have made enormous progress in research publications quantitatively and qualitatively in the field of atmospheric physics. In detail, however, observational studies of aerosol physical properties and cloud and precipitation physics were very active, and studies on cloud physics parameterization for cloud modeling were highly recognized in the world, but observational and theoretical studies of atmospheric radiation were relatively lacking and solicit more contribution from the KMS members. | Yum, Seong Soo; Lee, Kyu-Tae; Baik, Jong-Jin; Lee, Gyuwon; Kim, Sang-Woo; Um, Junshik | Yonsei Univ, Dept Atmospher Sci, Seoul, South Korea; Gangneung Wonju Natl Univ, Dept Atmospher & Environm Sci, Kangnung, South Korea; Seoul Natl Univ, Sch Earth & Environm Sci, Seoul, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Dept Astron & Atmospher Sci, Daegu, South Korea; Pusan Natl Univ, Dept Atmospher Sci, Pusan, South Korea; Yonsei Univ, Dept Atmospher Sci, 50 Yonsei Ro, Seoul 03722, South Korea | Um, Junshik/L-8543-2013 | ssyum@yonsei.ac.kr; | ATMOSPHERE-KOREA | ATMOS-KOREA | 1598-3560 | 2288-3266 | 33 | 2 | ESCI | METEOROLOGY & ATMOSPHERIC SCIENCES | 2023 | 0.9 | 92.3 | 1 | Atmospheric physics; publications; KMS journals; international journals | CLOUD MICROPHYSICS SCHEME; CONDENSATION NUCLEI CCN; 2-DIMENSIONAL VIDEO DISDROMETER; SINGLE-SCATTERING PROPERTIES; AEROSOL LIGHT-ABSORPTION; DROP SIZE DISTRIBUTIONS; OBSERVATION SYSTEM CPOS; YELLOW SEA; SOLAR-RADIATION; CHEMICAL-COMPOSITION | English | 2023 | 2023 | 10.14191/atmos.2023.33.2.105 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | |||||||||
| ○ | Review | Review of the Weather Hazard Research: Focused on Typhoon, Heavy Rain, Drought, Heat Wave, Cold Surge, Heavy Snow, and Strong Gust | This paper summarized the research papers on weather extremes that occurred in the Republic of Korea, which were published in the domestic and foreign journals during 1963-2022. Weather extreme is defined as a weather phenomenon that causes serious casualty and property loss; here, it includes typhoon, heavy rain, drought, heat wave, cold surge, heavy snow, and strong gust. Based on the 2011-2020 statistics in Korea, above 80% of property loss due to all natural disasters were caused by typhoons and heavy rainfalls. However, the impact of the other weather extremes can be underestimated rather than we have actually experienced; the property loss caused by the other extremes is hard to be quantitatively counted. Particularly, as global warming becomes serious, the influence of drought and heat wave has been increasing. The damages caused by cold surges, heavy snow, and strong gust occurred over relatively local areas on short-term time scales compared to other weather hazards. In particularly, strong gust accompanied with drought may result in severe forest fires over mountainous regions. We hope that the present review paper may remind us of the importance of weather extremes that directly affect our lives. | Ho, Chang-Hoi; Kim, Byung-Gon; Kim, Baek-Min; Park, Doo-Sun R.; Park, Chang-Kyun; Son, Seok-Woo; Jeong, Jee-Hoon; Cha, Dong-Hyun | Seoul Natl Univ, Sch Earth & Environm Sci, Seoul, South Korea; Gangneung Wonju Natl Univ, Dept Atmospher & Environm Sci, Kangnung, South Korea; Pukyong Natl Univ, Dept Environm Atmospher Sci, Busan, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Dept Earth Sci Educ, Daegu, South Korea; Pohang Univ Sci & Technol POSTECH, Div Environm Sci & Engn, Pohang, South Korea; Chonnam Natl Univ, Sch Earth & Environm Sci, Gwangju, South Korea; Ulsan Natl Inst Sci & Technol UNIST, Ulsan, South Korea; Seoul Natl Univ, Sch Earth & Environm Sci, 1 Gwanak Ro, Seoul 08826, South Korea | Ho, Chang-Hoi/H-8354-2015; Jeong, Jee-Hoon/A-4286-2010; Son, Seok-Woo/A-8797-2013; Kim, Baek-Min/A-4634-2015; Cha, Dong-Hyun/F-4901-2015; Park, Doo-Sun/U-9448-2019; Kim, Byung Gon/HPF-1667-2023 | hoch@snu.ac.kr; | ATMOSPHERE-KOREA | ATMOS-KOREA | 1598-3560 | 2288-3266 | 33 | 2 | ESCI | METEOROLOGY & ATMOSPHERIC SCIENCES | 2023 | 0.9 | 92.3 | 7 | KMS; weather extremes; typhoon; heavy rain; drought; heat wave; cold surge; heavy snow; strong gust | TROPICAL CYCLONE ACTIVITY; SOUTH-KOREA; SPATIOTEMPORAL CHARACTERISTICS; INTRASEASONAL AMPLIFICATION; METEOROLOGICAL DROUGHT; INTERANNUAL VARIATION; DOWNSLOPE WINDSTORMS; SEASONAL PREDICTION; STATISTICAL-MODEL; YEONGDONG REGION | English | 2023 | 2023 | 10.14191/atmos.2023.33.2.223 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | |||||||||
| ○ | Article | The Effect of Radar Data Assimilation in Numerical Models on Precipitation Forecasting | Accurately predicting localized heavy rainfall is challenging without high-resolution mesoscale cloud information in the numerical model's initial field, as precipitation intensity and amount vary significantly across regions. In the Korean Peninsula, the radar observation network covers the entire country, providing high-resolution data on hydrometeors which is suitable for data assimilation (DA). During the pre-processing stage, radar reflectivity is classified into hydrometeors (e.g., rain, snow, graupel) using the background temperature field. The mixing ratio of each hydrometeor is converted and inputted into a numerical model. Moreover, assimilating saturated water vapor mixing ratio and decomposing radar radial velocity into a three-dimensional wind vector improves the atmospheric dynamic field. This study presents radar DA experiments using a numerical prediction model to enhance the wind, water vapor, and hydrometeor mixing ratio information. The impact of radar DA on precipitation prediction is analyzed separately for each radar component. Assimilating radial velocity improves the dynamic field, while assimilating hydrometeor mixing ratio reduces the spin-up period in cloud microphysical processes, simulating initial precipitation growth. Assimilating water vapor mixing ratio further captures a moist atmospheric environment, maintaining continuous growth of hydrometeors, resulting in concentrated heavy rainfall. Overall, the radar DA experiment showed a 32.78% improvement in precipitation forecast accuracy compared to experiments without DA across four cases. Further research in related fields is necessary to improve predictions of mesoscale heavy rainfall in South Korea, mitigating its impact on human life and property. | Lee, Ji-Won; Min, Ki-Hong | Kyungpook Natl Univ, Dept Atmospher Sci, 80 Daehak Ro, Daegu 41566, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Ctr Atmospher REmote Sensing, Daegu, South Korea | Lee, Joo/C-3851-2013 | kmin@knu.ac.kr; | ATMOSPHERE-KOREA | ATMOS-KOREA | 1598-3560 | 2288-3266 | 33 | 5 | ESCI | METEOROLOGY & ATMOSPHERIC SCIENCES | 2023 | 0.9 | 92.3 | 0 | Radar data assimilation; Mesoscale rainfall; Forecast; Numerical weather prediction; High-Resolution observations | ENSEMBLE KALMAN FILTER; CONVECTIVE STORM; PART II; BULK PARAMETERIZATION; REFLECTIVITY DATA; CLOUD ANALYSIS; SQUALL LINE; PREDICTION; IMPACT; 3DVAR | Korean | 2023 | 2023 | 10.14191/atmos.2023.33.5.457 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | |||||||||
| ○ | ○ | Article | 'Talky Land', a Cognitive-Communication Training Application as Digital Therapeutics: Effects on Vocabulary and Articulation | Objectives: This study was designed to find out whether the cognitive-communication training application 'Talky Land' can be used as digital therapeutics for children with communication disorders. Methods: Children with language and speech sound disorders were divided into three groups: One group using the Talky Land app (10 children in Talky Land group), the second group using the MITA app (7 children in MITA group), and the third group that only received traditional language therapy (10 children in control group). Changes in vocabulary and articulation before and after intervention among three groups were compared, and changes during the intervention period were observed through additional probe measurements for the Talky Land group. This study also examined changes in the perception of caregivers for applications before and after intervention. Results: All three groups showed significant improvement in vocabulary and articulation post-intervention compared to pre-intervention; with the Talky Land group showing strength in receptive vocabulary compared to the other two groups. In the Talky land group, the children's progress varied somewhat depending on their baseline levels. And caregivers had a more positive perception of the value of the application as an education or treatment tool after intervention than before intervention. Conclusion: The results of this study will be used to further enhance Talky Land and contribute to its completion as digital therapeutics. | Kim, Na Yeon; Yu, Jaehyeong; Yoon, Sang-Youl; Park, Ki-Su; Min, Yu-Sun; Yoon, Janghyeok; Bae, Ye-Seul; Yang, Yu-Mi; Jung, Su-Jin; Ha, Ji-Wan | Daegu Univ, Dept Rehabil Sci, Grad Sch, Gyongsan, South Korea; Neopons Inc, Daegu, South Korea; Daegu Univ, Grad Sch Rehabil Sci, Dept Speech & Language Pathol, Gyongsan, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Kyungpook Natl Univ Hosp, Dept Neurosurg, Sch Med, Daegu, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ Hosp, Dept Phys Med & Rehabil, Daegu, South Korea; Konkuk Univ, Dept Ind Engn, Seoul, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Dept Rehabil Med, Chilgok Hosp, Daegu, South Korea; Daegu Univ, Dept Speech Pathol, Gyongsan, South Korea | 57072206000; 58500331500; 57195615457; 55932363100; 48061349800; 36451492000; 57221780128; 58499200800; 58500331700; 57072470300 | kiss798@gmail.com; | COMMUNICATION SCIENCES AND DISORDERS-CSD | COMMUN SCI DISORD-CS | 2288-1328 | 2288-0917 | 28 | 2 | ESCI | AUDIOLOGY & SPEECH-LANGUAGE PATHOLOGY | 2023 | 0.4 | 92.9 | 0 | 2025-06-25 | 0 | 0 | Cognitive-communication training; Application; Vocabulary; Articulation; Language delay; Speech sound disorder; Digital therapeutics | SPEECH-THERAPY; CHILDREN | Application; Articulation; Cognitive-communication training; Digital therapeutics; Language delay; Speech sound disorder; Vocabulary | English | 2023 | 2023-06 | 10.12963/csd.23968 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | |||
| ○ | ○ | Article | Ferrimagnetic and Metallic Properties of (001) NiCo2O4 Films Fabricated at Various Oxygen Pressures | Epitaxial (001) NiCo2O4 films with perpendicular magnetic anisotropy were grown on (001) MgAl2O4 at various oxygen pressures of 10-200 mTorr using pulsed laser deposition. X-ray diffraction suggested that the lattice constant, crystallinity, and deposition rate displayed distinctive changes around 50 mTorr. The temperaturedependent resistance displayed an insulating behavior in the films grown below 15 mTorr but a metallic one in the films grown above 20 mTorr. Magneto-optical Kerr effect measurement suggested that the NiCo2O4 films grown above 15 mTorr are ferrimagnetic at room temperature and possess a distinctive perpendicular magnetic anisotropy. The ferrimagnetic-to-paramagnetic transition temperature reached a maximum of similar to 385 K at 50 mTorr. During the magnetic reversal, the density of small nucleated domains increased with increasing oxygen pressure from 20 to 200 mTorr, and exhibited metallic ferrimagnetism at room temperature. Consequently, the optimal growth condition for magnetic device applications of NiCo2O4 films is believed to be 50-200 mTorr at 320 degrees C. | Kim, Jungbae; Park, Yeon Jung; Dho, Joonghoe | Kyungpook Natl Univ, Dept Phys, Daegu, South Korea | 57772809700; 57224101770; 6602898623 | jhdho@knu.ac.kr; | JOURNAL OF MAGNETICS | J MAGN | 1226-1750 | 2233-6656 | 28 | 2 | SCIE | MATERIALS SCIENCE, MULTIDISCIPLINARY;PHYSICS, APPLIED;PHYSICS, CONDENSED MATTER | 2023 | 0.6 | 93.0 | 0.52 | 2025-06-25 | 3 | 4 | spinel oxide; magnetic film; magnetic anisotropy | PERPENDICULAR MAGNETIC-ANISOTROPY; SPINEL FILMS; BEHAVIOR | magnetic anisotropy; magnetic film; spinel oxide | English | 2023 | 2023-06 | 10.4283/jmag.2023.28.2.102 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | |||
| ○ | ○ | Article | Correlation Between Structure and Physical Properties of Sulfone-Containing Aromatic Polyimides | Sulfone-containing aromatic polyimides were prepared by chemical imidization using aromatic diamine and dianhydride as monomers. Polymers were synthesized through molecular design based on various monomer combinations for potential use as binders for lithium-ion batteries (LIBs). Solubility in N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone (NMP) for slurry production, insolubility in electrolyte, binding to current collector, and glass transition in a wide temperature range were evaluated for stable use in various process conditions and environments. The resulting polymers were all insoluble in the electrolyte and strongly adhered to copper and aluminum foils. As the rotational freedom and the degree of being kinked of the polymer chain increased, the solubility in NMP increased and the glass transition temperature (T) decreased. When the effect of hybridization state of the central element in the main chain on the rotational freedom and the effect of linkage position on the degree of being kinked were arbitrarily quantified, a specific relationship was established with T. This study is expected to provide a key molecular design guideline for construction of a binder-material library for LIBs by clarifying the correlation between the molecular structure and physical properties of sulfone-containing polyimides. | Kim, Young-Rae; Noh, Jin-Hee; Lee, Jineun; Kim, Heesang; Kim, Hyojin; Seong, Hoon-Moh; Han, Dong Cheul; Kwak, Giseop | Kyungpook Natl Univ, Dept Polymer Sci & Engn, 80 Daehak Ro, Daegu 41566, South Korea; Adcanced Mat & Components Ctr, Ind Innovat Div, Daegu Technopark 46 17, Daegu 42716, South Korea; Hansol Chem Co Ltd, 873 Gwahak Ro, Wanjugun 55321, Jeollabukdo, South Korea; Gumi Elect & Informat Technol Res Inst, Gumi 39171, Gyeongbuk, South Korea | 57207443008; 58619645100; 57226333374; 57226091356; 57202516002; 57970755800; 59591969100; 17137322300 | gkwak@knu.ac.kr; | POLYMER-KOREA | POLYM-KOREA | 0379-153X | 2234-8077 | 47 | 5 | SCIE | POLYMER SCIENCE | 2023 | 0.4 | 93.2 | 0.25 | 2025-06-25 | 2 | 2 | aromatic polyimides; chemical imidization; sulfone; lithium-ion batteries; rotational freedom | PERFORMANCE; BINDER; ANODES | aromatic polyimides; chemical imidization; lithium-ion batteries; rotational freedom; sulfone | English | 2023 | 2023-09 | 10.7317/pk.2023.47.5.590 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | |||

| ○ | Article | INTERVENTION STRATEGIES FOR THE DYNAMICS OF POPULATION WITH OVEREATING BEHAVIOR | . Disordered eating behaviors, such as overeating, are known to be contagious in the general population. The objective of our research is to find an optimal control strategy to reduce the social burden of unhealthy overeating behavior by establishing and analyzing a mathematical model for the social transmission dynamics of unhealthy overeating. We consider four compartments in the population: normal weight with normal eating behavior, normal weight with overeating behavior, overweight with normal eating behavior, and overweight with overeating behavior. Simulation results under various control scenarios show that integrated control measures may be necessary to reduce the growth rate of the overeating population. | Kim, Minhye; Kim, Yongkuk; Oh, Chunyoung | KYUNGPOOK Natl Univ, Dept Math, Daegu, South Korea; CHONNAM Natl Univ, Dept Math Educ, Daegu, Peoples R China | sodami203@knu.ac.kr;yongkuk@knu.ac.kr;cyoh@jnu.ac.kr; | JOURNAL OF THE KOREAN SOCIETY FOR INDUSTRIAL AND APPLIED MATHEMATICS | J KOREAN SOC IND APP | 1226-9433 | 1229-0645 | 27 | 2 | ESCI | MATHEMATICS, APPLIED | 2023 | 0.3 | 93.2 | 0 | Optimal control; Obesity; Social impact of infectious diseases; Mathematical model | PHYSICAL-ACTIVITY; OBESITY; OVERWEIGHT; EPIDEMIC; VALENCIA; REGION; MODEL | English | 2023 | 2023 | 10.12941/jksiam.2023.27.123 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | ||||||||||
| ○ | ○ | Article | Preparation of an Injectable Alginate Hydrogel by Enzymatic Crosslinking Reaction and Application to Wound Healing Agents | In this study, an alginate hydrogel was prepared and characterized through an enzymatic crosslinking reaction of modified alginate with tyramine (Alg-Tyr) in order to develop an injectable wound healing agent that secures a mois-ture environment and dense adhesion to rough wound surface with controlled physical properties. The modification of Alg-Tyr was confirmed through attenuated total reflection-Fourier transform infrared spectroscope and proton nuclear magnetic resonance spectrometer. The storage modulus, gelation time, hydrolysis behavior and in vitro cytotoxicity of the hydrogel according to the crosslinking and concentration parameters of the alginate mixture were analyzed. The optimum hydrogel was selected as Alg-Tyr 4 w/w%, horseradish peroxidase 0.2 mg/mL and H O 4 & mu;L/mL concen-tration of composition. As results of in vivo wound healing rate and histological evaluation, the alginate hydrogel group showed superior recovery speed and skin regeneration ability compared to the control group, and it is expected to be used as an injectable wound healing agent. | Lee, Seung Wook; Ko, Yunjeh; Chung, Ho Yun; Kwon, Oh Hyeong | Kumoh Natl Inst Technol, Dept Polymer Sci & Engn, Gumi 39177, Gyeongbuk, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Sch Med, Dept Plast & Reconstruct Surg, CMRI, Daegu 41944, South Korea | 57169547700; 58565299500; 7404007181; 55665582200 | ohkwon@kumoh.ac.kr; | POLYMER-KOREA | POLYM-KOREA | 0379-153X | 2234-8077 | 47 | 4 | SCIE | POLYMER SCIENCE | 2023 | 0.4 | 93.2 | 0 | 2025-06-25 | 0 | 0 | alginate; hydrogel; injectable; enzymatic reaction; wound healing agent | TISSUE; DESIGN; CLASSIFICATION; PEROXIDASE; SYSTEM | alginate; enzymatic reaction; hydrogel; injectable; wound healing agent | English | 2023 | 2023-07 | 10.7317/pk.2023.47.4.469 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | |||
| ○ | ○ | Article | Recent Biomedical Applications of Functionalized Polyethylenimine Derivatives br | Polyethylenimine (PEI) is a cationic polymer that can bind to negatively charged biomaterials such as nucleic acids through strong electrostatic interactions. Based on these properties, PEI has been used as an efficient drug delivery system for a long time. However, the strong cationic nature of PEI has the problem of causing cytotoxicity by non-specific interaction with anionic biological materials in the cells. In order to overcome these problems, many researchers have developed various types of biocompatible PEI-based materials. In this review, we would like to introduce the recent developments of functional PEI and their applications in biomedical research | Jang, Aebaek; Jeon, Jongho | Kyungpook Natl Univ, Coll Engn, Dept Appl Chem, Daegu 41566, South Korea | 58112736600; 35082028100 | jeonj@knu.ac.kr; | APPLIED CHEMISTRY FOR ENGINEERING | APPL CHEM ENG | 1225-0112 | 1228-4505 | 34 | 1 | ESCI | ENGINEERING, CHEMICAL | 2023 | 0.4 | 93.2 | 0 | 2025-06-25 | 0 | 0 | Polyethylenimine; Drug delivery; Gene transfer; Biomaterial; Theranostics | THERAPEUTIC SIRNA; GENE DELIVERY; AMYLOID-BETA; MICRO/NANOPARTICLES; NANOPARTICLES; COMPLEXES; EFFICIENT | Biomaterial; Drug delivery; Gene transfer; Polyethylenimine; Theranostics | English | 2023 | 2023-02 | 10.14478/ace.2022.1133 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | |||
| ○ | ○ | Review | Scalable Fabrications of Mixed-Matrix Membranes via Polymer Modification-Enabled In Situ Metal-Organic Framework Formation for Gas Separation: A Review | Mixed-matrix membranes (MMMs), which are composed of a polymer matrix filled with high-performance fillers as a dispersed phase, have been intensively studied for gas separations for the past 30 years. It has been demonstrated that MMMs exhibit superior gas separation performance compared to polymer membranes and are more scalable than polycrystalline membranes. Despite their potential, the commercialization of MMMs has yet to be reported due to several challenging issues. One of the major challenges of MMMs is the non-ideal interface between the continuous polymer phase and dispersed phase, which can result in defect formation (i.e., interfacial voids, etc.). With respect, many MMM studies have focused on addressing the issues through scientific approaches. The engineering approaches for facile and effective large-scale fabrication of MMMs, however, have been relatively underestimated. In this review paper, a novel strategy for fabricating MMMs in a facile and scalable manner using in situ metal-organic framework (MOF) formation is introduced. This new MMM fabrication methodology can effectively address the issues facing current MMMs, likely facilitating the commercialization of MMMs. | Park, Sunghwan; Lee, Young-Sei | Kyungpook Natl Univ, Sch Energy Mat & Chem Engn, Sangju Si 37224, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Dept Adv Sci & Technol Convergence, Sangju S 37224, South Korea | 56402062100; 36013623600 | sunghwan@knu.ac.kr;ysl@knu.ac.kr; | APPLIED CHEMISTRY FOR ENGINEERING | APPL CHEM ENG | 1225-0112 | 1228-4505 | 34 | 3 | ESCI | ENGINEERING, CHEMICAL | 2023 | 0.4 | 93.2 | 0.1 | 2025-06-25 | 1 | 1 | Membrane fabrications; Mixed-matrix membrane; Metal-organic framework; In situ formation; Gas separation | ZEOLITIC-IMIDAZOLATE FRAMEWORKS; PERMEATION | Gas separation; In situ formation; Membrane fabrications; Metal-organic framework; Mixed-matrix membrane | English | 2023 | 2023-06 | 10.14478/ace.2023.1040 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 |
