| ○ | Conference paper | A Reliable Nested Neutral-Point-Clamped (RNNPC) Converter | The nested neutral-point-clamped (NNPC) converter suffers from the shoot-Through fault similar to other traditional multilevel power converters. To cope with this issue, this paper proposes a novel topology based on the split/coupled inductor concept called a reliable nested neutral-point-clamped (RNNPC) converter. Unlike some previous split/coupled inductor topologies that happening open-circuit fault will cause drastic damage to the converter due to disconnection of inductors' currents, the proposed RNNPC converter can handle this fault resiliently even if all switches are turned OFF simultaneously. Thus, the proposed converter is a highly reliable and robust structure. Higher output voltage/current gain, and lower output voltage/current distortion are other main merits of the RNNPC topology. Detail analysis along with simulation results are provided to verify the feasibility of the new topology. © 2022 IEEE. | Faraji, Faramarz; Cha, Honnyong | School of Energy Engineering, Kyungpook National University, Daegu, 41566, South Korea; School of Energy Engineering, Kyungpook National University, Daegu, 41566, South Korea | 57191226987; 24450248400 | ICPERE 2022 - 5th International Conference on Power Engineering and Renewable Energy, Proceedings | 0 | 2025-06-25 | 0 | multilevel converters; NNPC; open-circuit fault; reliability; shoot-Through issue; TNNPC | Electric inductors; Power converters; Reliability; Timing circuits; Coupled inductor; Multilevel converter; Nested neutral-point-clamped; Neutral-point clamped converters; Neutralpoint-clamped (NPC); Open-circuit fault; Shoot-through; Shoot-through issue; TNNPC; Voltage current; Topology | English | Final | 2022 | 10.1109/icpere56870.2022.10037542 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | |||||||||||||||||||
| ○ | Conference paper | A Resident Recognition Using Real and Thermal Image Pairs | Various methods of personal identification and authentication using biometric data have been developed. However, there are downsides to these techniques due to the risk of data leakage during the authentication process and the data acquisition environment required for recognition. | ○ | Conference paper | A Secure Authentication and Key Establishment Scheme using PUF in Vehicular Ad-Hoc Network | In VANET, a vehicle can exchange information from other vehicles and facilities around the road. However, the problems such as transmitting data over insecure wireless channels and storing information in insecure memory can pose serious security threats. To solve this problem, research on authentication and key establishment using PUF is being actively conducted. In 2021, Umar et al. proposed an ID-based authentication and key establishment scheme using PUF in VANETs. However, their scheme has some security vulnerabilities and does not provide secure mutual authentication. In this paper, we analyze the security vulnerabilities of Umar et al. 's scheme and propose a secure authentication and key establishment scheme to solve the problems. © 2022 IEEE. | Kim, Myeonghyun; Park, Kilhoum | School of Electronic and Electrical Engineering, Kyungpook National University, Daegu, South Korea; School of Electronic and Electrical Engineering, Kyungpook National University, Daegu, South Korea | 57210278739; 35776805000 | Proceedings of IEEE Asia-Pacific Conference on Computer Science and Data Engineering, CSDE 2022 | 0.5 | 2025-06-25 | 2 | authentication; protocol; PUF; security; VANET | Cryptography; Network protocols; Network security; Vehicular ad hoc networks; Key establishment schemes; PUF; Secure authentications; Security; Security threats; Security vulnerabilities; Transmitting data; VANET; Vehicular Adhoc Networks (VANETs); Wireless channel; Authentication | English | Final | 2022 | 10.1109/csde56538.2022.10089336 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | |||||||||||||||||||
| ○ | Conference paper | A Secure Data Processing System in Edge Computing-Powered AIoT | Artificial Intelligent of Things (AIoT) has been utilized a lot of field since AIoT improves the overall performance of the system for the realization of smart life. As the attention about AIoT grows, the amount of data generated by IoT devices increases. Since IoT devices have low capability, it is difficult for IoT devices to store and analyze a huge amount of data. Cloud server has been introduced to handle the overgrowing data. However, cloud server centrally processes the enormous volume of data, and it leads to the problems of response delay and security. By adopting the edge server, the delay problem can be solved due to the closer communication distance. Many research also has been presented to solve the security problem in the AIoT environment. Unfortunately, it is still an ongoing issue. Although many studies have suggested countermeasures, they suffer from various physical and information security-related attacks. It causes the serious consequences such as data leakage and misuse. Thus, it is necessary to study on secure data processing and analysis in the AIoT environment. In this paper, we propose the system model for secure data processing framework by applying mutual authentication between IoT devices, edge server, and cloud server. © 2022 IEEE. | Oh, Jihyeon; Lee, JoonYoung; Park, YoHan; Park, Youngho | School of Electronic and Electrical Engineering, Kyungpook National University, Daegu, South Korea; School of Electronic and Electrical Engineering, Kyungpook National University, Daegu, South Korea; School of Computer Engineering, Keimyung University, Daegu, South Korea; School of Electronic and Electrical Engineering, Kyungpook National University, Daegu, South Korea | 57222066296; 57203970123; 55660095600; 56962990300 | Proceedings of IEEE Asia-Pacific Conference on Computer Science and Data Engineering, CSDE 2022 | 1.74 | 2025-06-25 | 7 | AIoT; authentication; edge computing; key exchange; security | Authentication; Internet of things; Artificial intelligent; Artificial intelligent of thing; Cloud servers; Data-processing system; Edge computing; Edge server; Key-exchange; Performance; Secure data; Security; Edge computing | English | Final | 2022 | 10.1109/csde56538.2022.10089302 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | |||||||||||||||||||
| ○ | Conference paper | A Secure User Authentication Protocol in Smart Living Environment | The development of wireless communication and sensing technologies empowers the wireless sensor network (WSN) to apply various environments. Therefore, people can receive convenient smart living services using WSN technology, such as smart home, healthcare, and agriculture. In WSN environments, all of participants communicate each other using wireless channel and this can cause various security vulnerabilities. Thus, secure mutual authentication protocols are necessary for WSN environments. In 2022, Li et al. proposed an anonymous authentication and key agreement scheme for WSN environments. However, we discover that their protocol cannot prevent insider, stolen verifier, and ephemeral secret leakage attacks. To enhance the security drawbacks of Li et al.,s scheme, we suggest a secure and lightweight user authentication protocol for WSN environments. To prove the security of the proposed protocol, we perform a informal security analysis. Therefore, the proposed protocol can provide security for WSN environments. © 2022 IEEE. | Kwon, DeokKyu; Son, Seunghwan; Lee, JoonYoung; Park, Youngho | School of Electronic and Electrical Engineering, Kyungpook National University, Daegu, South Korea; School of Electronic and Electrical Engineering, Kyungpook National University, Daegu, South Korea; School of Electronic and Electrical Engineering, Kyungpook National University, Daegu, South Korea; School of Electronic and Electrical Engineering, Kyungpook National University, Daegu, South Korea | 57221739597; 57221744477; 57203970123; 56962990300 | Proceedings of IEEE Asia-Pacific Conference on Computer Science and Data Engineering, CSDE 2022 | 0.25 | 2025-06-25 | 1 | authentication; countermeasure; cryptanalysis; lightweight; wireless sensor network | Authentication; Automation; Cryptography; Lithium; Network security; Countermeasure; Cryptanalyse; Lightweight; Living environment; Protocol cans; Sensor network environment; Smart livings; User authentication protocols; Wireless communication technology; Wireless sensing; Wireless sensor networks | English | Final | 2022 | 10.1109/csde56538.2022.10089257 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | |||||||||||||||||||

| ○ | ○ | Article | A Study of Korean Aesthetic Consciousness in New-Media Art | Korean Naturalism focuses on inner discipline by taking nature as a criterion. In this context, at the core of Korean aesthetic consciousness are inner virtues beyond superficial beauty. It may be too radical to apply Korean Naturalism to the current practice of new-media art. Nevertheless, some contemporary artists who attempt to bring back Korean tradition from a new perspective experiment with Korean Naturalism. In this study, I consider the method and concept those artists pursue as evolved Naturalism with new media and a new zeitgeist. When a classic Korean painting transforms into a moving image, it is possible to experience an inward immersion and contemplation through the calm instilled in dynamism. In addition, through the installation art that intentionally composes a blank space, visitors can viscerally experience the space and unconsciously fill it with their narratives. The present-day artist's task is to correctly interpret the message contained in the tradition, rather than imitate the appearance of traditional art without the spirit. The artist should inculcate this attitude to accomplish historical continuity, which is an essential element for experimenting with conventional Korean artworks and aesthetic consciousness. | Park, Yeonsook | Kyungpook Natl Univ, Fac Coll Mus & Arts, Daegu, South Korea | 57895102600 | pyssummer@gmail.com; | ESPES-THE SLOVAK JOURNAL OF AESTHETICS | ESPES | 1339-1119 | 11 | 1 | ESCI | ART;PHILOSOPHY | 2022 | 0.2 | 0 | 2025-06-25 | 0 | 0 | Evolved Korean Naturalism; New-Media Art; Calmness in Dynamism (); Historical Continuity; Natural Immersion | Calmness in Dynamism; Evolved Korean Naturalism; Historical Continuity; Natural Immersion; New-Media Art | English | 2022 | 2022-06 | 10.5281/zenodo.6639562 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | ||||||
| ○ | ○ | Proceedings Paper | A Study on Model Compression Methods for SRGAN | The construction of SR algorithms by using deep learning model such as super-resolution generative adversarial networks (SRGAN) have become larger and complicated model architectures with requiring a vast amount of memory capacity. However, it is difficult to operate deep learning models which have millions of parameters at the mobile devices. Thus, in this paper, we present a study on lightweight neural network using network pruning method. Through our extensive experiments, pruned network can show similar performance to the original SRGAN model with substantially reduced model size. | Kim, Dong-hwi; Lee, Jun-won; Park, Sang-hyo | Kyungpook Natl Univ, Sch Comp Sci & Engn, Daegu, South Korea | 58556778700; 57641592200; 55362514700 | paka96@knu.ac.kr;douvlecircle@gmail.com;s.park@knu.ac.kr; | 2022 INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON ELECTRONICS, INFORMATION, AND COMMUNICATION (ICEIC) | 0.99 | 2025-06-25 | 0 | 3 | Deep learning; Lightweight neural network; Network pruning; Super-resolution; Network compression; Fine-tuning; Knowledge-distillation | Deep learning; Fine-tuning; Knowledge-distillation; Lightweight neural network; Network compression; Network pruning; Super-resolution | Computer vision; Deep learning; Distillation; Generative adversarial networks; Deep learning; Fine tuning; Knowledge-distillation; Learning models; Lightweight neural network; Network compression; Network pruning; Neural-networks; Study on models; Superresolution; Optical resolving power | English | 2022 | 2022 | 10.1109/iceic54506.2022.9748707 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | ||||||||||||||
| ○ | ○ | Proceedings Paper | A Study on Optimizing Pin Accessibility of Standard Cells in the Post-3 nm Node | Nanosheet FETs (NSFETs) are expected to be the post-FinFET device in the technology nodes of 5 nm and beyond. However, despite the high potential of NSFETs, few studies report the impact of NSFETs in the digital VLSI's perspective. In this paper, we present a study of NSFETs for the optimal standard cell (SDC) library design and pin accessibility-aware layout for less routing congestion and low power consumption. For this objective, we present five novel methodologies to tackle the pin accessibility issues that rise in SDC designs in extremely-low routing resource environments (4 tracks) and emphasize the importance of local trench contact (LTC) in it. Using our methodology, we improve design metrics such as power consumption, total area, and wirelength by -11.0%, -13.2%, and 16.0%, respectively. By our study, we expect the routing congestion issues that additionally occur in advanced technology nodes to be handled and better full-chip designs to be done in 3 nm and beyond. | Jeong, Jaehoon; Ko, Jonghyun; Song, Taigon | Kyungpook Natl Univ, Daegu 41566, South Korea | Jeong, Jaehoon/KGM-4514-2024 | 57226881576; 59809554200; 36005021000 | ma7856@knu.ac.kr;tsong@knu.ac.kr; | 2022 ACM/IEEE INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM ON LOW POWER ELECTRONICS AND DESIGN, ISLPED 2022 | 1533-4678 | 1.51 | 2025-06-25 | 0 | 3 | NSFET; Pin optimization; Library; Standard cell layout | Library; NSFET; Pin optimization; Standard cell layout | Integrated circuit layout; Nanotechnology; Cell layout; FinFET devices; High potential; Nanosheet FET; Optimisations; Pin optimization; Routing congestion; Standard cell layout; Standard-cell; Technology nodes; Electric power utilization | English | 2022 | 2022 | 10.1145/3531437.3539707 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | ||||||||||||
| ○ | Article | A Study on Orthogonal Image Detection Precision Improvement Using Data of Dead Pine Trees Extracted by Period Based on U-Net model | Although the number of trees affected by pine wilt disease is decreasing, the affected area is expanding across the country. Recently, with the development of deep learning technology, it is being rapidly applied to the detection study of pine wilt nematodes and dead trees. The purpose of this study is to efficiently acquire deep learning training data and acquire accurate true values to further improve the detection ability of U-Net models through learning. To achieve this purpose, by using a filtering method applying a step-by-step deep learning algorithm the ambiguous analysis basis of the deep learning model is minimized, enabling efficient analysis and judgment. As a result of the analysis the U-Net model using the true values analyzed by period in the detection and performance improvement of dead pine trees of wilt nematode using the U-Net algorithm had a recall rate of -0.5%p than the U-Net model using the previously provided true values, precision was 7.6%p and F-1 score was 4.1%p. In the future, it is judged that there is a possibility to increase the precision of wilt detection by applying various filtering techniques, and it is judged that the drone surveillance method using drone orthographic images and artificial intelligence can be used in the pine wilt nematode disaster prevention project. © 2022 Korean Society of Surveying. | ○ | Article | A Study on Target Object Recognition of a Similar Shape using a Small Dataset based on the Siamese Network | Target object recognition by a mobile robot is based on deep learning. To train a deep learning model to differentiate between target and non-target objects, a sufficiently large dataset that can extract features for classifying objects is required. In a general working environment, securing a sufficiently large dataset is difficult because the number of people designated as workers is constantly changing. Classifying the shapes of objects that are similar requires larger datasets than classifying the shapes of objects that are not similar. Therefore, a method for recognizing target objects with similar shapes using a small dataset is required. This paper proposes a Siamese-network–based target object recognition method for recognizing objects with similar shapes based on a small dataset. A trained Siamese network is used to recognize whether the input object is the target object based on its similarity to the target object. The results of target object recognition using the proposed method were experimentally analyzed. Further, ResNet-50 was used to evaluate the performance of the proposed method. Our findings show that the proposed method recognized objects with a difference of approximately 6% using a small dataset, indicating its higher efficiency than the classification-based object recognition method. © ICROS 2022. | Kwak, Jeonghoon; Yang, Kyon-Mo; Lee, Jong-Il; Kim, Min-Gyu; Seo, Kap-Ho | Human-Robot Interaction Research Center, Korea Institute of Robotics and Technology Convergence (KIRO), South Korea; Human-Robot Interaction Research Center, Korea Institute of Robotics and Technology Convergence (KIRO), South Korea; Human-Robot Interaction Research Center, Korea Institute of Robotics and Technology Convergence (KIRO), South Korea; Human-Robot Interaction Research Center, Korea Institute of Robotics and Technology Convergence (KIRO), South Korea; Human-Robot Interaction Research Center, Korea Institute of Robotics and Technology Convergence (KIRO), South Korea, Department of Robot and Smart System Engineering, Kyungpook National University (KNU), South Korea | 56963328600; 55698480000; 57210206280; 55551726700; 7201838999 | neoworld@kiro.re.kr; | Journal of Institute of Control, Robotics and Systems | 1976-5622 | 28 | 9 | 0.28 | 2025-06-25 | 3 | Convolutional Neural Network; Deep Learning; Few-shot Learning; Object Recognition; Siamese Network | Classification (of information); Convolutional neural networks; Deep learning; Large dataset; Convolutional neural network; Deep learning; Few-shot learning; Large datasets; Learning models; Objects recognition; Recognition methods; Siamese network; Small data set; Target object; Object recognition | Korean | Final | 2022 | 10.5302/j.icros.2022.22.0102 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | |||||||||||||||
| ○ | Article | A Study on the Classification of European Copy Papers with Infrared Spectroscopy and Principal Component Analysis | There are several approaches to evaluate characteristics of a paper and classify them. In recent studies, mathematical and statistical disciplines are widely applied on chemical data in different academic fields. One method which involves multivariate analysis was tested to confirm whether it is applicable for copy papers produced in Europe by a paper company. In this study, an infra-red (IR) spectroscopy and multivariate analysis were applied for specific paper products. The chemical properties of samples were obtained via attenuated total reflection-IR spectroscopy and then, processed with a principal component analysis to verify whether classification occurred. The results revealed that this method works to classify copy paper products made in Europe. © 2022 Korean Technical Assoc. of the Pulp and Paper Industry. | ○ | Article | A Study on the Efficiency of Recognition of Specific Workers based on Deep Learning through Wearing a Work Vest | This paper studies the method of detecting and tracking a moving target (person) among workers. The target’s noticeable features, such as its shape or color, are some of the requirements that guarantee the reliable performance of human detection and tracking methods. These features, however, are not adequate for the target tracking methods among workers because they all have a similar shape. Moreover, their clothes vary from day to day. Accordingly, we overcame these issues by devising a method in which the target wears a work vest, thus creating a distinctive feature. The contribution of this paper is as follows: 1) A work vest can be used as a noticeable feature to detect and track a target among workers. 2) Even if the target changes, the proposed method can be performed without additional learning. 3) Finally, by implementing the prototype system, the possibility of the proposed methods was experimentally verified. © ICROS 2022. | Lee, Jong-Il; Yang, Kyon-Mo; Kim, Min-Gyu; Seo, Kap-Ho | Human-Robot Interaction Research Center, Korea Institute of Robotics and Technology Convergence (KIRO), South Korea; Human-Robot Interaction Research Center, Korea Institute of Robotics and Technology Convergence (KIRO), South Korea; Human-Robot Interaction Research Center, Korea Institute of Robotics and Technology Convergence (KIRO), South Korea; Human-Robot Interaction Research Center, Korea Institute of Robotics and Technology Convergence (KIRO), South Korea, Department of Robot and Smart System Engineering, Kyungpook National University (KNU), South Korea | 57210206280; 55698480000; 55551726700; 7201838999 | neoworld@kiro.re.kr; | Journal of Institute of Control, Robotics and Systems | 1976-5622 | 28 | 7 | 0.19 | 2025-06-25 | 2 | deep learning; human detection and following; human following robot; multi-object tracking | Feature extraction; Object detection; Target tracking; Wear of materials; Deep learning; Human detection; Human following; Human following robot; Moving targets; Multi-object tracking; Reliable performance; Tracking method; Workers'; Deep learning | Korean | Final | 2022 | 10.5302/j.icros.2022.22.0077 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | |||||||||||||||
| ○ | Article | A Study on the Hydraulic Factors of Groundwater Level Fluctuation by Region in Jeju Island | This study evaluated the hydraulic factors contributing to the decreasing groundwater levels across Jeju island. Time-series data for groundwater level, precipitation, and groundwater usage and information on land use were acquired, and the correlations among them were analyzed to evaluate the causes of the decreasing groundwater. The effects of precipitation and groundwater usage on the fluctuations of groundwater level were quantified using response surface analysis and sensitivity analysis, and methods for groundwater quantity management by region were proposed. The results showed that the rate of groundwater decrease in the western region was larger than that in the eastern region. For the eastern region, the influence of precipitation was large and the rate of decrease in the groundwater level was relatively small. The geological formation of this part of the island and continuous seawater intrusion suggest that although the absolute amount of groundwater extracted for use was large, the decrease in the groundwater level was not seen to be great due to an increase in pressure by seawater intrusion. Overall, precipitation and groundwater usage had the greatest effect on the amount of groundwater in the western region, and thus their data would be most useful for informing groundwater management, whereas other factors (e.g., sea level and the location of the freshwater-seawater transition zone) must be considered when understanding Jeju's eastern region. As the characteristics of groundwater level fluctuations in the eastern and western regions are distinct, an optimal management plan for each region should be proposed to ensure the efficient management of groundwater quantity. © Journal of Engineering Geology. All rights reserved. | Jeong, Jiho; Park, Jaesung; Koh, Eun-Hee; Park, Won-Bae; Jeong, Jina | Department of Geology, Kyungpook National University, South Korea; Department of Geology, Kyungpook National University, South Korea; Jeju Groundwater Research Center, Jeju Research Institute, South Korea; Jeju Groundwater Research Center, Jeju Research Institute, South Korea; Department of Geology, Kyungpook National University, South Korea | 57218684286; 57226611192; 55498166500; 56262564000; 55488558800 | jeong.j@knu.ac.kr; | Journal of Engineering Geology | 1226-5268 | 32 | 2 | 0.28 | 2025-06-25 | 3 | groundwater monitoring data; groundwater usage amount monitoring data; precipitation monitoring data; response surface method; sensitivity analysis | Korean | Final | 2022 | 10.9720/kseg.2022.2.257 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | ||||||||||||||||
| ○ | Article | A Study on the Mechanical Properties of a Biocompatible Conduit Structure based on Electrospun Fibers; [미세섬유 기반의 생체적합성 관구조에 대한 기계적 물성 조절에 관한 연구] | There are various conduit structures such as arteries, veins, and airways in the human body, and they play critical roles in each tissue/organ. However, in recent years, the demand for artificial substitutes for the damaged conduit structure-based tissues and organs has significantly increased as dietary life has rapidly changed. Accordingly, various studies have been conducted, to develop a conduit structure of biocompatible polymers. In this study a 5 mm-diameter conduit structure was developed, using electrospinning process. An electrospinning setup equipped with a cylindrical-rod collector was constructed to fabricate a fibrous conduit structure, and then the impacts of process conditions on morphological and mechanical properties were investigated.
