| ○ | Article | A Study on Mechanical Properties of Conductive Flexible Foam for Emotion Perception Skin by Compounding Ratio | This study aimed to develop flexible material-based sensors for the emotional skin of robots to recognize user's condition. An emotion perception skin (EPES) with sufficient stiffness and hardness was designed to be attached to the robot. Thus, it will not normally interfere with the robot's motion. The sensors to be manufactured must include characteristics such as ease and reproducibility of fabrication. In this paper, the mechanical properties related to the fabrication parameters of conductive flexible foam are analyzed. They are also evaluated in terms of the application to EPES. To this end, the fabrication process of conductive flexible foam is thoroughly described. Tests of mechanical properties were conducted according to dielectric materials and their compounding ratio by ASTM D412. | Han, Jong-Boo; Lee, Jongil; Gwak, Dong-Gi; Eom, Kihyeon; Sohn, Dong-Seop; Seo, Kap-Ho; Lee, Joonwoo | Korea Inst Robot & Technol Convergence, Human Robot Interact Res Ctr, Pohang, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Dept Elect Engn, Coll IT Engn, Daegu, South Korea | neoworld@kiro.re.kr; | TRANSACTIONS OF THE KOREAN SOCIETY OF MECHANICAL ENGINEERS A | T KOR SOC MEC ENG A | 1226-4873 | 2288-5226 | 44 | 6 | ESCI | ENGINEERING, MECHANICAL | 2020 | N/A | 0 | Conductive Flexible Foam; Emotion Perception Skin | Korean | 2020 | 2020-06 | 10.3795/ksme-a.2020.44.6.459 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | ||||||||||||
| ○ | Article | A study on the building height estimation and accuracy using unmanned aerial vehicles | In order to accommodate the increase in urban population due to government-led national planning and economic growth, many buildings such as houses and business building were supplied. Although the building law was revised and managed to manage the supplied buildings, for the sake of economic benefit, there have been buildings that are enlarged or reconstructed without declaring building permits. In order to manage these buildings, on-site surveys were conducted. but it has many personnel consumption. To solve this problem, a method of using a satellite image and a manned aircraft is utilized, but it is diseconomical and a renewal cycle is long. In addition, it is not utilized to the height, and although it is judged by the shading of the building, it has limitations that it must be calculated individually. In this study, height of the building was calculated by using the unmanned aerial vehicle with low personnel consumption, and the accuracy was verified by comparison with the building register and measured value. In this study, spatial information was constructed using a fast unmanned aerial vehicle with low manpower consumption and the building height was calculated based on this. The accuracy by comparing the calculated building height with the building register and the actual measurement. © 2020, Architectural Institute of Korea. | ○ | ○ | Article | A Study on the Decision-Making Behavior of Judge in the Criminal Trial: The Effect of Sentencing Guideline in South Korea | We study how the adoption of sentencing guidelines affects punishment for crimes. Using 6350 first-trial rulings for criminal cases in South Korea for the period before the adoption of sentencing guidelines (2003-2011) and the period after (2011-2016), we estimate the ordered probit model, classifying punishment into four categories of severity. According to our estimates, punishment for most crimes becomes lighter after the adoption of sentencing guidelines. Among economic crimes, embezzlement and theft receive less severe punishment, while punishment for fraud has strengthened. Of non-economic crimes, perjury and false accusation receive lighter punishment, which would hardly improve the low trust level in South Korean society. Punishment for the obstruction of justice has also weakened, reflecting growing awareness of individual rights among citizens. Judges who prefer severe punishment before the adoption of sentencing guideline maintain their stringent sentences, while those who prefer light punishment lower sentences with confidence due to the sentencing guideline. We call this phenomenon judge's upward-risk aversion not to exceed the guideline in sentencing. | Kim, Seong-Kyoon; Yoon, Bong-Joon; Oh, Jeungil | Kyungpook Natl Univ, Dept Publ Adm, Daegu, South Korea; SUNY Binghamton, Dept Econ, Binghamton, NY USA | 57219130874; 58409209000; 57109657300 | jo31@knu.ac.kr; | INTERNATIONAL ECONOMIC JOURNAL | 1016-8737 | 1743-517X | 34 | 4 | 0 | 2025-06-25 | 1 | 0 | Sentencing guideline; criminal cases; punishment; ordered probit model; K14; K42 | criminal cases; ordered probit model; punishment; Sentencing guideline | English | 2020 | 2020 | 10.1080/10168737.2020.1818273 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | |||||||||||
| ○ | Article | A study on the electromagnetic induction law using a simple pendulum | A study of the electromagnetic induction law was carried out using a simple pendulum motion. The induced voltages produced by a single pendulum with a magnetic weight as it passed through a square coil were measured using a MBL(microcomputer based laboratory) device and compared with theoretically predicted values. By measuring the induced voltages according to type of magnets (intensity of magnetic field), the initial angle of the simple pendulum (speed), and the coil turns. In this results, electromotive force linearly increase according to the intensity of magnetic field and speed. The coil turns tends to affect the electromotive force. Faraday's electromagnetic induction law could be analyzed with ease, convenience, and accuracy based on the study. © 2020 The Korean Physical Society. | ○ | Conference paper | A study on the estimation of farmed marine product output using aerial images ?a case study on busan laver farming? | In Korea, the fish farming industry produces more fish resources than the general fishery, and its annual output is also on the increase, becoming the major source of the fishing industry. In particular, Korea is a world-class producer of the diverse marine products including laver, sea mustard, abalone and oyster, thus contributing to the food resources and the exporting industries. Therefore, the demand for ensuring efficient fish farm management and monitoring is increasingly being required, and to do so, there is a need to estimate the farming facility quantity and output. The farmed marine product output data include Statics Korea's fishery production statistics and fish farming investigation results, and these statistics are the results of the full survey and sampling survey of the year-end farmed output by breed of fish in all marine farmers in the country. However, in the case of the farmed output by fish and other major breed, the output by city and province is provided, making it impossible to identify the specific output by city, county and district and the farming facility quantity of by individual unit. Thus, this study used the prior studies-proven aerial imagery-based marine farming grounds' facility calculation quantity in estimating the farmed marine product output by city, county and district and by individual farmer unit. This study is significant in that it used the existing output statistics provided by item or area and the farming facility quantity data in estimating the output from farming facilities in particular areas and in areas required by users. The proposed method can help estimate the individual farmers' farmed marine product output in other areas as well, and it is expected to be used by people engaging in fishery and local government officials for their efficient decision making. © 2020 40th Asian Conference on Remote Sensing, ACRS 2019: "Progress of Remote Sensing Technology for Smart Future". | ○ | Article | A Study on the Flexoelectric Coefficient in the Frustum Pyramid Sensing Element with the Rigid Laminates at the Upper and Bottom Surfaces | In this study, the flexoelectric coefficients of a frustum pyramid sensing element with rigid laminates at the upper and bottom surfaces were investigated. The flexoelectric coefficients were estimated based on the results of 3D FEA stress analysis and quasi 1D stress field with respect to the identical strength of the incident signal. The RMS value and standard deviation of the ratio of flexoelectric coefficient (1D to 3D) were found to be 0.932 and 0.0005, respectively for varying input pressure. Additionally, the flexoelectric coefficient in the case of 3-D stress analysis was found to be 6.8 % larger than that in the case of quasi 1D stress analysis if the charge output of two cases are the same. Finally, to obtain a more reliable flexoelectric coefficient for a frustum pyramid sensing element, the flexoelectric coefficient obtained based on the results of 3D numerical stress analysis should be used. | Kwon, Seol Ryung | Kyungpook Natl Univ, Digital Design & Digital Mfg R&D Ctr, Daegu, South Korea | seolr.kwon@gmail.com; | TRANSACTIONS OF THE KOREAN SOCIETY OF MECHANICAL ENGINEERS A | T KOR SOC MEC ENG A | 1226-4873 | 2288-5226 | 44 | 1 | ESCI | ENGINEERING, MECHANICAL | 2020 | N/A | 2 | Flexoelectric Coefficient; Flexoelectric Polarization; Frustum Pyramid Sensing Element; Structural Analysis; Strain Gradient | TITANATE | Korean | 2020 | 2020-01 | 10.3795/ksme-a.2020.44.1.001 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | |||||||||||
| ○ | Article | A study on the functional components and health effectiveness of germinated Oryza sativa L. ‘Superhongmi’ | This study compares the changes in antioxidant activity, starch molecules, and functional components, including the content of amino acids, minerals, phenolic compounds, phytic acid, and GABA, of pigmented rice cv. ‘Superhongmi’ and brown rice following germination. The results showed that germinated ‘Superhongmi’ had augmented phenol compounds, phytic acid, GABA, and γ-oryzanol, as well as higher antioxidant activity (ABTS, DPPH, and superoxide dismutase like) compared with germinated brown rice. | ○ | ○ | Article | A Study on the Use of Drones for Disaster Damage Investigation in Mountainous Terrain | In the case of forest areas, the installation of ground control points (GCPs) and the selection of terrain features, which are one of the unmanned aerial photogrammetry work process, are limited compared to urban areas, and safety problems arise due to non-visible flight due to high forest. To compensate for this problem, the drone equipped with a real time kinematic (RTK) sensor that corrects the position of the drone in real time, and a 3D flight method that fly based on terrain information are being developed. This study suggests to present a method for investigating damage using drones in forest areas. Position accuracy evaluation was performed for three methods: 1) drone mapping through GCP measurement (normal mapping), 2) drone mapping based on topographic data (3D flight mapping), 3) drone mapping using RTK drone (RTK mapping), and all showed an accuracy within 2 cm in the horizontal and within 13 cm in the vertical position. After evaluating the position accuracy, the volume of the landslide area was calculated and the volume values were compared, and all showed similar values. Through this study, the possibility of utilizing 3D flight mapping and RTK mapping in forest areas was confirmed. In the future, it is expected that more effective damage investigations can be conducted if the three methods are appropriately used according to the conditions of area of the disaster. | Shin, Dongyoon; Kim, Dajinsol; Kim, Seongsam; Han, Youkyung; Nho, Hyunju | Natl Disaster Management Res Inst, Disaster Scientifc Invest Div, Ulsan, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Sch Convergence & Fus Syst Engn, Daegu, South Korea | 56567141100; 57222000912; 57196228746; 55457676600; 57221998601 | nhj1017@korea.kr; | KOREAN JOURNAL OF REMOTE SENSING | KOREAN J REMOTE SENS | 1225-6161 | 2287-9307 | 36 | 5 | ESCI | REMOTE SENSING | 2020 | N/A | 0.41 | 2025-06-25 | 4 | 9 | Natural Disaster; Drone Mapping; RTK; 3D topographic flight | 3D topographic flight; Drone Mapping; Natural Disaster; RTK | Korean | 2020 | 2020-10 | 10.7780/kjrs.2020.36.5.4.6 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | |||||

| ○ | Book chapter | A yeast apoptosis-inducing characteristic of hydrogen peroxide | Belonging to organic class of peroxides, hydrogen peroxide contributes to diverse cell signaling pathways and cell fate decisions in yeasts. Among them, hydrogen peroxide induces apoptosis, which is included in a programmed cell death and works through specialized mode of action to commit suicide. Mammalian apoptosis inducing factor (AIF) homologue, Ynr074cp controls apoptosis in yeast and is mostly localized at the mitochondria. This protein is translocated into the nucleus under apoptosis-inducing conditions. A mitochondria-specific protein, Ynr074cp, mediates the signaling transduction from the mitochondria to the nucleus during apoptosis. This protein induces apoptosis in caspase-independent manner and instead works via Ynr074cp-dependent process. Hydrogen peroxide induces overexpression of Ynr074cp and triggers apoptotic cell death through oxidative stress or DNA damage. This chapter focused on the mode of action hydrogen peroxide induces in yeast apoptosis including overexpression of AIF homologue protein. © 2020 Nova Science Publishers, Inc. | Kwun, Min Seok; Lee, Dong Gun | School of Life Sciences, College of Natural Sciences, Kyungpook National University, Daegu, South Korea; School of Life Sciences, College of Natural Sciences, Kyungpook National University, Daegu, South Korea | 57212491555; 55668060900 | dglee222@knu.ac.kr; | Advances in Chemistry Research | 62 | 0.33 | 2025-06-25 | 1 | Apoptosis; Hydrogen peroxide; Peroxides; Yeast; Ynr074cp | English | Final | 2020 | 바로가기 | ||||||||||||||||||||
| ○ | Article | Acidic-treated acorn pollen as health functional food materials for Improvement of Post-menopausal Glucose Metabolism | Pollen has high physiological value because it contains protein, essential amino acids, and 16 vitamins. However, pollen is difficult to absorb because of its hard form. This study explores the use of the acid-treated acorn pollen (acorn pollen deposited in apple vinegar for 30 days). The health functions of acid-treated acorn pollen on post-menopausal metabolism was tested by analyzing in vitro and in vivo biomarkers for glucose metabolism, by using the acid-treated acorn pollen and its residues, respectively. In vitro experiments showed high activity after measuring the low potency of glucose-related enzymes. In vivo experiments showed reduced blood glucose and insulin levels after consuming pollen. Pollen also increased the concentration of glucokinase, a glucose-regulating enzyme in hepatic and nephritic tissue, and lowered the concentration of glucose-6-phosphatase. These results are encouraging in showing that acid pollen can be used as a functional health food for treatment of post-menopausal metabolism.
