| ○ | ○ | Article | Assessor Feedback Mechanism for Machine Learning Model | Evaluating artificial intelligence (AI) systems is crucial for their successful deployment and safe operation in realworld applications. The assessor meta-learning model has been recently introduced to assess AI system behaviors developed from emergent characteristics of AI systems and their responses on a test set. The original approach lacks covering continuous ranges, for example, regression problems, and it produces only the probability of success. In this work, to address existing limitations and enhance practical applicability, we propose an assessor feedback mechanism designed to identify and learn from AI system errors, enabling the system to perform the target task more effectively while concurrently correcting its mistakes. Our empirical analysis demonstrates the efficacy of this approach. Specifically, we introduce a transition methodology that converts prediction errors into relative success, which is particularly beneficial for regression tasks. We then apply this framework to both neural network and support vector machine models across regression and classification tasks, thoroughly testing its performance on a comprehensive suite of 30 diverse datasets. Our findings highlight the robustness and adaptability of the assessor feedback mechanism, showcasing its potential to improve model accuracy and reliability across varied data contexts. | Lolaev, Musulmon; Paul, Anand; Kim, Jeonghong | Kyungpook Natl Univ, Sch Comp Sci & Engn, Dae Hak Ro, Daegu 41566, South Korea | Paul, Anand/V-6724-2017; Lolaev, Musulmon/ADF-0781-2022 | 57226384015; 56650522400; 59540518600 | paul.editor@gmail.com; | CMC-COMPUTERS MATERIALS & CONTINUA | CMC-COMPUT MATER CON | 1546-2218 | 1546-2226 | 81 | 3 | SCIE | MATERIALS SCIENCE, MULTIDISCIPLINARY;COMPUTER SCIENCE, INFORMATION SYSTEMS | 2024 | 1.7 | 68.0 | 0 | 2025-05-07 | 0 | 0 | Artificial Intelligence; assessor model; evaluation; meta-learning; trustworthy; explainable AI | Artificial Intelligence; assessor model; evaluation; explainable AI; meta-learning; trustworthy | Contrastive Learning; Support vector regression; Artificial intelligence systems; Assessor model; Evaluation; Explainable artificial intelligence; Feedback mechanisms; Machine learning models; Metalearning; Real-world; Safe operation; Trustworthy; Adversarial machine learning | English | 2024 | 2024 | 10.32604/cmc.2024.058675 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | ||
| ○ | Article | Elevating Image Steganography: A Fusion of MSB Matching and LSB Substitution for Enhanced Concealment Capabilities | In today's rapidly evolving landscape of communication technologies, ensuring the secure delivery of sensitive data has become an essential priority. To overcome these difficulties, different steganography and data encryption methods have been proposed by researchers to secure communications. Most of the proposed steganography techniques achieve higher embedding capacities without compromising visual imperceptibility using LSB substitution. In this work, we have an approach that utilizes a combination of Most Significant Bit (MSB) matching and Least Significant Bit (LSB) substitution. The proposed algorithm divides confidential messages into pairs of bits and connects them with the MSBs of individual pixels using pair matching, enabling the storage of 6 bits in one pixel by modifying a maximum of three bits. The proposed technique is evaluated using embedding capacity and Peak Signal-to-Noise Ratio (PSNR) score, we compared our work with the Zakariya scheme the results showed a significant increase in data concealment capacity. The achieved results of our work show that our algorithm demonstrates an improvement in hiding capacity from 11% to 22% for different data samples while maintaining a minimum Peak Signal-to-Noise Ratio (PSNR) of 37 dB. These findings highlight the effectiveness and trustworthiness of the proposed algorithm in securing the communication process and maintaining visual integrity. | Ali, Muhammad Zaman; Riaz, Omer; Hasnain, Hafiz Muhammad; Sharif, Waqas; Ali, Tenvir; Choi, Gyu Sang | Islamia Univ Bahawalpur, Dept Informat Technol, Bahawalpur 63100, Pakistan; Islamia Univ Bahawalpur, Dept Comp Sci, Bahawalpur 63100, Pakistan; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Sch Comp Sci & Engn, Daegu 38541, Gyeongbuk, South Korea | sharif, waqas/AAD-3927-2019 | castchoi@ynu.ac.kr; | CMC-COMPUTERS MATERIALS & CONTINUA | CMC-COMPUT MATER CON | 1546-2218 | 1546-2226 | 79 | 2 | SCIE | MATERIALS SCIENCE, MULTIDISCIPLINARY;COMPUTER SCIENCE, INFORMATION SYSTEMS | 2024 | 1.7 | 68.0 | 2 | Steganography; most significant bit (MSB); least significant bit (LSB); peak signal-to-noise ratio (PSNR) | HIDING SCHEME; PVD | English | 2024 | 2024 | 10.32604/cmc.2024.049139 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | |||||||||

| ○ | ○ | Article | Fake News Detection on Social Media Using Ensemble Methods | In an era dominated by information dissemination through various channels like newspapers, social media, radio, and television, the surge in content production, especially on social platforms, has amplified the challenge of distinguishing between truthful and deceptive information. Fake news, a prevalent issue, particularly on social media, complicates the assessment of news credibility. The pervasive spread of fake news not only misleads the public but also erodes trust in legitimate news sources, creating confusion and polarizing opinions. As the volume of information grows, individuals increasingly struggle to discern credible content from false narratives, leading to widespread misinformation and potentially harmful consequences. Despite numerous methodologies proposed for fake news detection, including knowledge-based, language-based, and machine-learning approaches, their efficacy often diminishes when confronted with high-dimensional datasets and data riddled with noise or inconsistencies. Our study addresses this challenge by evaluating the synergistic benefits of combining feature extraction and feature selection techniques in fake news detection. We employ multiple feature extraction methods, including Count Vectorizer, Bag of Words, Global Vectors for Word Representation (GloVe), Word to Vector (Word2Vec), and Term Frequency-Inverse Document Frequency (TF-IDF), alongside feature selection techniques such as Information Gain, Chi-Square, Principal Component Analysis (PCA), and Document Frequency. This comprehensive approach enhances the model's ability to identify and analyze relevant features, leading to more accurate and effective fake news detection. Our findings highlight the importance of a multi-faceted approach, offering a significant improvement in model accuracy and reliability. Moreover, the study emphasizes the adaptability of the proposed ensemble model across diverse datasets, reinforcing its potential for broader application in real-world scenarios. We introduce a pioneering ensemble technique that leverages both machine-learning and deep-learning classifiers. To identify the optimal ensemble configuration, we systematically tested various combinations. Experimental evaluations conducted on three diverse datasets related to fake news demonstrate the exceptional performance of our proposed ensemble model. Achieving remarkable accuracy levels of 97%, 99%, and 98% on Dataset 1, Dataset 2, and Dataset 3, respectively, our approach showcases robustness and effectiveness in discerning fake news amidst the complexities of contemporary information landscapes. This research contributes to the advancement of fake news detection methodologies and underscores the significance of integrating feature extraction and feature selection strategies for enhanced performance, especially in the context of intricate, high-dimensional datasets. | Ilyas, Muhammad Ali; Rehman, Abdul; Abbas, Assad; Kim, Dongsun; Naseem, Muhammad Tahir; Allah, Nasro Min | COMSATS Univ, Dept Comp Sci, Islamabad 45550, Pakistan; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Sch Comp Sci & Engn, Daegu 41566, South Korea; Korea Univ, Dept Comp Sci & Engn, Seoul 02841, South Korea; Yeungnam Univ, Dept Elect Engn, Gyongsan 38541, South Korea; Imam Abdulrahman Bin Faisal Univ, Coll Comp Sci & Informat Technol, Dept Comp Sci, Dammam 34223, Saudi Arabia | Min-Allah, Nasro/O-3147-2019; Kim, Dongsun/B-4856-2015; Rehman, Abdul/D-5630-2019 | 59483614600; 57200894071; 56349574400; 57198636924; 57733123500; 24725148500 | darkrsw@korea.ac.kr;nmtahir@yu.ac.kr; | CMC-COMPUTERS MATERIALS & CONTINUA | CMC-COMPUT MATER CON | 1546-2218 | 1546-2226 | 81 | 3 | SCIE | MATERIALS SCIENCE, MULTIDISCIPLINARY;COMPUTER SCIENCE, INFORMATION SYSTEMS | 2024 | 1.7 | 68.0 | 0 | 2025-05-07 | 0 | 0 | Fake news detection; Machine Learning (ML); Deep Learning (DL); Chi-Square; ensembling | Chi-Square; Deep Learning (DL); ensembling; Fake news detection; Machine Learning (ML) | Deep learning; Economic and social effects; Inverse problems; Chi-square; Deep learning; Ensembling; Fake news detection; Feature extraction/selection; Features selection; High-dimensional dataset; Machine learning; Machine-learning; Social media; Feature Selection | English | 2024 | 2024 | 10.32604/cmc.2024.056291 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | ||

| ○ | ○ | Article | Delayed Implant fixture Displacement into the Maxillary Sinus five Years Post-Loading: Unraveling the CausesA Case Report | Reports of implant fixtures dislocating into the maxillary sinus during sinus graft procedures are well -documented. However, cases of fixtures migrating into the sinus long after placement have yet to be reported. This case report details the surgical extraction of a displaced screw and cement -retained prosthesis, including a fixture and its abutment, from the maxillary sinus after a minimum of 5 years under functional load. The extracted implant was subsequently examined using scanning electron microscopy and energydispersive x-ray spectroscopy. We found that the migration commenced with peri-implantitis surrounding the implant, replacing the second molar. This was accompanied by a loss of cement from the crown on this implant and concurrent loosening of the abutment screw on the implant, replacing the first molar. We hypothesize that the inability of the bony tissue surrounding the second molar implant to withstand occlusal forces resulted in forming a bony sequestrum. This process ultimately precipitated the migration of the fixture, along with its abutment and adjacent necrotic bone, into the sinus cavity. | Cho, Young Joon; Jeong, Yong Tak; Lee, Tae Hee; Cho, Hyun Woo | Mac Dent Clin, Daegu, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Sch Dent, Dept Periodontol, Daegu, South Korea; NYU, Coll Dent, New York, NY USA | CHO, YOUNG/KLZ-0702-2024; Cho, Young/GPC-7772-2022 | 59036668900; 59036200300; 59037137000; 59037615300 | macdental@knu.ac.kr; | JOURNAL OF ORAL IMPLANTOLOGY | J ORAL IMPLANTOL | 0160-6972 | 1548-1336 | 50 | 2 | SCIE | DENTISTRY, ORAL SURGERY & MEDICINE | 2024 | 1.3 | 68.2 | 0 | 2025-05-07 | 0 | 0 | antroliths; dental implant; late displacement; sinus graft; case report | BONE-FORMATION ADJACENT; DENTAL IMPLANT; COMPLICATIONS; AUGMENTATION; SURVIVAL | Antroliths; Case report; Dental implantLate displacement; Sinus graft | Dental Abutments; Dental Implants; Dental Restoration Failure; Device Removal; Female; Foreign-Body Migration; Humans; Male; Maxillary Sinus; Microscopy, Electron, Scanning; Middle Aged; Molar; Peri-Implantitis; case report; dental restoration failure; device removal; female; foreign body; human; male; maxillary sinus; middle aged; molar tooth; periimplantitis; scanning electron microscopy | English | 2024 | 2024-04 | 10.1563/aaid-joi-d-23-00073 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | |
| ○ | ○ | Article | Longitudinal relationships between grit, self-esteem, and academic achievement among Korean primary school students | In a competition-driven meritocratic learning environment, academic achievement can have a direct effect on self-esteem and self-concept. As such, academic achievement can act as an antecedent to grit and self-esteem. This study examined the longitudinal reciprocal relationships of academic achievement, consistency of interest (CI), perseverance of effort (PE), and self-esteem among fourth-grade and fifth-grade primary school students in South Korea, who were under heavy pressure in a performance-oriented learning environment. Data pertaining to 2,240 students were extracted from the 2018 Korean Children and Youth Panel Survey conducted by the National Youth Policy Institute, and cross-lagged structural equation modeling was conducted to examine the longitudinal relationship between three variables. The results revealed that academic achievement had a statistically significant positive relationship with CI, PE, and self-esteem; CI had a statistically significant positive relationship with PE; and PE had a statistically significant positive relationship with self-esteem through the mediation of academic achievement. In addition, self-esteem demonstrated the highest level of stability, and although CI and PE demonstrated similar levels of stability, CI displayed slightly greater stability compared to PE. Findings from this study suggest the need to support grit and self-esteem among Korean students under pressure in performance-oriented academic environments. | Park, Sanghyun | Kyungpook Natl Univ, Dept Educ, 80 Daehak Ro, Daegu 41566, South Korea | 57219724490 | sangsang22@naver.com; | SCHOOL PSYCHOLOGY INTERNATIONAL | SCHOOL PSYCHOL INT | 0143-0343 | 1461-7374 | 45 | 5 | SSCI | PSYCHOLOGY, EDUCATIONAL | 2024 | 1.5 | 68.2 | 0 | 2025-05-07 | 0 | 0 | grit; consistency of interest; perseverance of effort; self-esteem; academic achievement; cross-lagged structural equation modeling | ADOLESCENTS; PREDICTOR; MODEL; SCALE; CONSCIENTIOUSNESS; ASSOCIATIONS; SATISFACTION; PERSEVERANCE; PERSONALITY; PERFORMANCE | academic achievement; consistency of interest; cross-lagged structural equation modeling; grit; perseverance of effort; self-esteem | English | 2024 | 2024-10 | 10.1177/01430343231216973 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | |||
| ○ | ○ | Article | Structural and functional features of asthma participants with fixed airway obstruction using CT imaging and 1D computational fluid dynamics: A feasibility study | Asthma with fixed airway obstruction (FAO) is associated with significant morbidity and rapid decline in lung function, making its treatment challenging. Quantitative computed tomography (QCT) along with data postprocessing is a useful tool to obtain detailed information on airway structure, parenchymal function, and computational flow features. In this study, we aim to identify the structural and functional differences between asthma with and without FAO. The FAO group was defined by a ratio of forced expiratory volume in 1 s (FEV1) to forced vital capacity (FVC), FEV1/FVC <0.7. Accordingly, we obtained two sets of QCT images at inspiration and expiration of asthma subjects without (N = 24) and with FAO (N = 12). Structural and functional QCT-derived airway variables were extracted, including normalized hydraulic diameter, normalized airway wall thickness, functional small airway disease, and emphysema percentage. A one-dimensional (1D) computational fluid dynamics (CFD) model considering airway deformation was used to compare the pressure distribution between the two groups. The computational pressures showed strong correlations with the pulmonary function test (PFT)-based metrics. In conclusion, asthma participants with FAO had worse lung functions and higher-pressure drops than those without FAO. | Nguyen, Quoc Hung; Kim, So Ri; Chae, Kum Ju; Jin, Gong Yong; Choi, Sanghun | Kyungpook Natl Univ, Sch Mech Engn, Daegu, South Korea; Jeonbuk Natl Univ, Jeonbuk Natl Univ Hosp, Div Resp Med & Allergy, Dept Internal Med,Med Sch,Biomed Res Inst,Res Inst, 20 Geonji Ro, Jeonju 54907, South Korea; Jeonbuk Natl Univ, Dept Radiol, Res Inst Clin Med, Biomed Res Inst,Jeonbuk Natl Univ Hosp, Jeonju, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Sch Mech Engn, 80 Daehak Ro, Daegu 41566, South Korea | Choi, Sanghun/AGS-7430-2022; Nguyen, Hung/AFO-4447-2022; Kim, So/AAS-1630-2021; Kim, Jong/J-2749-2012 | 58798508300; 25637561400; 57195310676; 55663719500; 55847101000 | gyjin@chonbuk.ac.kr;s-choi@knu.ac.kr; | PHYSIOLOGICAL REPORTS | PHYSIOL REP | 2051-817X | 12 | 1 | ESCI | PHYSIOLOGY | 2024 | 1.9 | 68.4 | 1.61 | 2025-04-16 | 3 | 3 | airflow distribution; and pressure drop; computational fluid dynamics; computed tomography; wall thickening | LUNG-FUNCTION; FLOW OBSTRUCTION; STANDARDIZATION; REGISTRATION; LIMITATION; PHENOTYPES; RESISTANCE; IMAGES; VOLUME | airflow distribution; and pressure drop; computational fluid dynamics; computed tomography; wall thickening | Airway Obstruction; Asthma; Feasibility Studies; Humans; Hydrodynamics; Tomography, X-Ray Computed; adult; air pollution; Article; asthma; computational fluid dynamics; computer assisted tomography; controlled study; diagnostic test accuracy study; female; forced expiratory volume; forced vital capacity; functional residual capacity; human; image segmentation; lung artery pressure; lung function; lung function test; lung lavage; lung volume; male; middle aged; normal human; oxygen saturation; particulate matter; prevalence; respiratory tract disease; retrospective study; small airway disease; spirometry; tidal volume; total lung capacity; airway obstruction; complication; diagnostic imaging; feasibility study; hydrodynamics; x-ray computed tomography | English | 2024 | 2024-01 | 10.14814/phy2.15909 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | ||
| ○ | ○ | Article | Analysing physiological urinary hormonal changes in female red pandas during the breeding season | This study aimed to contribute to the conservation of red pandas by improving the understanding of their oestrus cycle through examining urinary hormone changes during their breeding season. To minimize stress associated with blood sample collection, we used urine samples Sex hormone levels were measured over six months in pregnant and nonpregnant red pandas, to help understand changes in oestrogen concentrations during oestrus, post-mating progesterone concentrations and differences in ceruloplasmin concentrations. The results of the study revealed that female red pandas are polyoestrous, with a second oestrogen peak after mating. Progesterone changed in a cascading fashion, peaking and then gradually declining. Successfully mated females showed higher levels of progesterone than unsuccessfully mated females, which had no peak in progesterone after mating. Ceruloplasmin was measured to confirm pregnancy, but its value as a pregnancy diagnostic factor was not confirmed. These results provide significant insights into the reproductive physiology of red pandas and lay the foundation for additional research towards improving the management and breeding strategies for this threatened species. | Youn, Soong-Hee; Chung, Dong-Hee; Jung, Eun; Shin, Ki-Yong; Shin, Hyeon-Joo; Yang, Joon-Young; Kim, Kyoo-Tae | Everland Zool Garden, Yongin 17023, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Coll Vet Med, Daegu 41566, South Korea | 55876632700; 57204505749; 57203199731; 57929364700; 57929553700; 57929178400; 56680415000 | kyootae@knu.ac.kr; | ACTA VETERINARIA HUNGARICA | ACTA VET HUNG | 0236-6290 | 1588-2705 | 72 | 4 | SCIE | VETERINARY SCIENCES | 2024 | 0.8 | 68.5 | 0 | 2025-05-07 | 0 | 0 | ceruloplasmin; estrone-3-glucuronide measurement; oestrus cycle; red panda; urinary hormone levels | AILURUS-FULGENS | ceruloplasmin; estrone-3-glucuronide measurement; oestrus cycle; red panda; urinary hormone levels | Animals; Ceruloplasmin; Female; Pregnancy; Progesterone; Reproduction; Seasons; Ursidae; ceruloplasmin; estrogen; estrone glucuronide; progesterone; animal experiment; Article; blood sampling; breeding; endangered species; estrus; estrus cycle; female; hormone determination; male; mating; nonhuman; red panda; season; urine; urine sampling; animal; bear; blood; metabolism; physiology; pregnancy; reproduction | English | 2024 | 2024-12-12 | 10.1556/004.2024.01125 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | ||
| ○ | ○ | Article | Epidemiology and pathogenesis of osteoarthritis | Background: Osteoarthritis (OA) is the most common form of arthritis and poses a considerable socioeconomic burden, contributing to disability and decreased quality of life, particularly in older adults. However, the current treatment for OA is limited to pain relief, and it is necessary to develop disease-modifying OA drugs that target specific molecular mechanisms of its pathogenesis. Current Concepts: The prevalence of OA increases with age, with the incidence being higher in individuals aged over 60 years. Furthermore, women are more likely to develop knee and hand OA, whereas hip OA is more common in men. The global burden of OA is increasing, driven by an aging population and increasing obesity. The main pathological feature of OA is the degradation of the cartilage extracellular matrix by catabolic proteases such as matrix metalloproteinase 13 (MMP13) and a disintegrin and metalloproteinase with thrombospondin motifs 5 (Adamts5), which are regulated by various signaling pathways and transcription factors. The metabolic shift towards glycolysis, which is associated with mitochondrial dysfunction, increases oxidative stress, ultimately leading to chondrocyte senescence and apoptosis. Chondrocytes in the superficial zone have stem cell-like properties and secrete anabolic proteins such as lubricin and fibulin-3. Subchondral bone remodeling and chondrocyte senescence have emerged as critical mechanisms of OA progression. Discussion and Conclusion: The understanding of OA has markedly evolved in recent years, shifting from the traditional view of OA as a "wear and tear" disease to a multifaceted condition with a complex pathogenesis. This paradigm shift could contribute to the development of novel strategies to halt OA progression. | Han, Seungwoo | Kyungpook Natl Univ, Dept Internal Med, Sch Med, Daegu, South Korea | 55246807000 | kiefedr@knu.ac.kr; | JOURNAL OF THE KOREAN MEDICAL ASSOCIATION | J KOREAN MED ASSOC | 1975-8456 | 2093-5951 | 67 | 10 | ESCI | MEDICINE, GENERAL & INTERNAL | 2024 | 0.5 | 68.5 | 0 | 2025-05-07 | 1 | 0 | Osteoarthritis; Epidemiology; Pathogenesis; Chondrocytes; Extracellular matrix | SUBCHONDRAL BONE; KNEE OSTEOARTHRITIS; ARTICULAR-CARTILAGE; HIP OSTEOARTHRITIS; SENESCENT CELLS; CHONDROCYTES; PREVALENCE; BETA; INHIBITION | Chondrocytes; Epidemiology; Extracellular matrix; Osteoarthritis; Pathogenesis | aggrecanase 2; collagenase 3; fibulin; proteinase; transcription factor; analgesia; apoptosis; Article; bone remodeling; chondrocyte; extracellular matrix; glycolysis; hand osteoarthritis; human; knee osteoarthritis; obesity; osteoarthritis; oxidative stress; pathogenesis; prevalence; quality of life; signal transduction; subchondral bone | English | 2024 | 2024-10 | 10.5124/jkma.2024.67.10.620 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | ||
| ○ | ○ | Article | Feline gastrointestinal eosinophilic sclerosing fibroplasia in two cats: Serial ultrasonographic and computed tomography findings | A 6 -month -old Ragdoll and 9 -year -old Russian Blue cat presented with vomiting. Ultrasonography and computed tomography showed a pyloric antrum mass with wall layering loss and regional lymphadenopathy in the Ragdoll kitten. The Russian Blue cat only presented with muscularis layer thickening throughout the jejunum; however, despite medications, it later progressed to a mass with wall layering loss on the serial ultrasound. Both cats underwent surgery, and feline gastrointestinal eosinophilic sclerosing fibroplasia (FGESF) was histologically confirmed. FGESF should be considered for gastrointestinal masses demonstrating wall layering loss and lymphadenopathy, even in kittens, and intestinal muscularis layer thickening that is refractory to medications. | Noh, Daji; Jo, Hyeeun; Shin, Hyunguk; Lee, Sang-Kwon; Choi, Sooyoung; Lee, Kija | Kyungpook Natl Univ, Coll Vet Med, Dept Vet Med Imaging, Daegu, South Korea; 24 Africa Anim Med Ctr, Daejeon, South Korea; Kangwon Natl Univ, Coll Vet Med, Chunchon, South Korea | ; Lee, Sang-Kwon/IYI-9991-2023 | 57188552722; 59154066200; 36837576900; 56494541400; 55736574600; 35311016000 | leekj@knu.ac.kr; | VETERINARNI MEDICINA | VET MED-CZECH | 0375-8427 | 1805-9392 | 69 | 5 | SCIE | VETERINARY SCIENCES | 2024 | 0.8 | 68.5 | 1.41 | 2025-04-16 | 2 | 1 | diagnostic imaging; FGESF; gastrointestinal tumor; inflammatory bowel disease | diagnostic imaging; FGESF; gastrointestinal tumor; inflammatory bowel disease | amoxicillin; chlorambucil; famotidine; marbofloxacin; maropitant; metronidazole; mirtazapine; mnipaque 300; prednisolone; abdominal radiography; acute pancreatitis; Article; biopsy; body weight loss; bone marrow biopsy; Campylobacter coli; cat; colloid carcinoma; computer assisted tomography; echography; Escherichia coli; feces analysis; feline gastrointestinal eosinophilic sclerosing fibroplasia; fine needle aspiration biopsy; follow up; gastrojejunostomy; gastroscopy; histopathology; hysterectomy; inflammatory bowel disease; intestine muscle; lamina propria; lymph node dissection; lymphadenopathy; nonhuman; polymerase chain reaction; Proteus mirabilis; Toxocara cati; vomiting | English | 2024 | 2024 | 10.17221/2/2024-vetmed | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | ||
| ○ | ○ | Article | Strength Evaluation of Flush End-Plate Connection Using Triangular Haunch in Pipe Rack | In this paper, cyclic tests and finite element analyses were conducted on the flush end-plate connection of a pipe rack, with the haunch shape attached to the bottom of a beam as a variable. The cyclic test results showed that the moment strength of the connection increased by a maximum of 1.82 times depending on the haunch shape. The results of cyclic tests and finite element analyses revealed that with increasing the length of the welded haunch connected to the beam and expanding the area where the haunch contacted the column, the moment strength of the connection increased. Furthermore, a method to calculate the strength of the flush end-plate connection attached to the haunch was described by determining and calculating the theoretical strengths of each part, including the beam, column, haunch region, column flange, panel zone, and end-plate. When the length of the haunch connected to the beam is ensured and strengths of each element are calculated to be considerably higher than the beam strength, the connection can be configured in an ideal form of a strong column-weak beam. | Kang, Seong-Hun; Lee, Jun-Seop; Park, Hwa-In; Lee, Hee-Du; Shin, Kyung-Jae | Pusan Natl Univ, Dept Nanofus Technol, 2 Busandaehak Ro 63beon Gil, Busan 46241, Guam, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, 80 Daehak Ro, Daegu 41566, South Korea; Pukyong Natl Univ, 45 Yongso Ro, Pusan 48513, South Korea | 58494878500; 57221623386; 59165915800; 53865180300; 14039501000 | kore6987@knu.ac.kr; | INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF STEEL STRUCTURES | INT J STEEL STRUCT | 1598-2351 | 2093-6311 | 24 | 6 | SCIE | CONSTRUCTION & BUILDING TECHNOLOGY;ENGINEERING, CIVIL | 2024 | 1.4 | 68.6 | 0 | 2025-05-07 | 0 | 0 | Flush end-plate connection; Strength evaluation; Haunch; Pipe rack | STEEL MOMENT CONNECTIONS; PANEL ZONE; DESIGN | Flush end-plate connection; Haunch; Pipe rack; Strength evaluation | Cyclic loads; Plates (structural components); Beam-columns; Cyclic tests; Finite element analyse; Flush endplate connection; Haunch; In-pipe; Moment strengths; Pipe rack; Strength evaluation; Theoretical strength; Finite element method | English | 2024 | 2024-12 | 10.1007/s13296-024-00851-6 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | ||
| ○ | Article | Effect of Gabapentin on Tendon-to-Bone Healing in a Rat Model of Rotator Cuff Repair | Background: Gabapentin is often used as an analgesic after rotator cuff repair surgery and is recommended as an additional analgesic for arthroscopic rotator cuff repairs. However, evidence of its effects on biological healing mechanisms is lacking. The objective of this study was to investigate the potential of gabapentin in improving tendon-to-bone healing after rotator cuff repair using a rat model. Materials and Methods: A total of 20 male rats were randomly allocated to one of two groups: group 1 (repair only, n=10) or group 2 (gabapentin injection, n=10). The rats in the experimental group (group 2) were administered 80 mg/kg of gabapentin subcutaneously 30 minutes before surgery, followed by 80 mg/kg subcutaneously every 24 hours for 48 hours. We used the left shoulder of every rat, while for biomechanical analysis, we used the right shoulder. Results: There was no significant difference in the load to failure, ultimate stress, or elongation between the groups. Collagen continuity, orientation, and density were better in group 2 than group 1. Conclusion: In a rat model of rotator cuff repair, gabapentin had a positive impact on the quality of collagen organization at the junction between the tendon and bone, while preserving the biomechanical properties. We propose the use of gabapentin as a supplementary analgesic agent for postoperative pain relief after arthroscopic rotator cuff repair; however, further studies of the effect of gabapentin on biological healing mechanisms are required. | ○ | ○ | Article | Effect of oxygen vacancies on dielectric property and reliability of anti-ferroelectric PLZT applicable to EV-MLCC | A study on anti-ferroelectric (PbLa)(ZrTi)O3 (PLZT) for electric vehicles (EV) applicable to DC-link was conducted. Multilayer ceramic capacitors (MLCCs) for DC-link require high-electric field properties and reliability. Oxygen vacancies are a major cause affecting insulation properties and reliability. There are acceptors and donors as methods for controlling the mobility and concentration of oxygen vacancies. The mobility and concentration of oxygen vacancies were simultaneously controlled, rather than individually controlled. Mn4+ was selected as the acceptor and Dy3+ was selected as the donor. After fixing Mn4+ = 5.0 mol% to (Pb0.82La0.12)(Zr0.86Ti0.14)O3, insulation properties and reliability were evaluated according to Dy3+ = 5.0, 10.0, 15.0 and 20.0 mol%. A high sintered density was obtained at a temperature of 1200 degrees C in a reduction atmosphere. When Mn4+ = 5.0 mol% and Dy3+ = 10.0 mol% were co-substituted into PLZT, a dielectric constant of about 1800 and a breakdown voltage of about 12 kV mm-1 were obtained. In the co-substituted PLZT, capacitance change and insulation degradation properties were greatly improved. Oxygen vacancy mobility and concentration control were effective in reliability properties. Thermally stimulated depolarization current (TSDC) was analysed to confirm the polarization of oxygen vacancies. TSDC increased with electric field and time. TSDC decreased in co-substituted PLZT compared to un-substituted PLZT. A factor affecting TSDC is the behaviour of oxygen vacancies. Based on the result, the oxygen vacancies are polarized and moved by the application of an electric field, resulting in degradation of insulating properties. | Choi, Jeoung Sik; Kim, Dong Chul; Shin, Hyo Soon; Yeo, Dong Hun; Lee, Joon Hyung | Korea Inst Ceram Engn & Technol, Nano Convergence Mat Ctr, 101 Sohoro, Jinju 52851, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Sch Mat Sci & Engn, Daegu 41566, South Korea | 57478171200; 57226389154; 35273922400; 7006551146; 57204923460 | hshin@kicet.re.kr; | BULLETIN OF MATERIALS SCIENCE | B MATER SCI | 0250-4707 | 0973-7669 | 47 | 1 | SCIE | MATERIALS SCIENCE, MULTIDISCIPLINARY | 2024 | 2.1 | 68.8 | 0.29 | 2025-05-07 | 0 | 1 | Anti-ferroelectric; PLZT; oxygen vacancy; MLCCs; substitution | Anti-ferroelectric; MLCCs; oxygen vacancy; PLZT; substitution | Capacitance; Depolarization; Electric fields; Ferroelectricity; Insulation; Reliability; Anti ferroelectrics; Dc-link; Dielectrics reliability; Effect of oxygen; Insulation property; Multi-layer ceramic capacitor; Multilayer ceramic capacitors; Pbla)(zrti)O3; Property; Thermally stimulated depolarization currents; Oxygen vacancies | English | 2024 | 2024-02-17 | 10.1007/s12034-023-03105-z | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | |||
| ○ | ○ | Article | Colistin heteroresistance in Citrobacter freundii clinical isolates from Republic of Korea | We investigated colistin heteroresistance in Citrobacter freundii isolates from Korean hospitals. Using population analysis profiling (PAP), we detected colistin heteroresistance in 31.3% of isolates. Among these, ST217 was the most prevalent clone (58.5%), particularly within colistin-heteroresistant isolates (80.0%). Interestingly, the second most common clone, ST248, was not found in heteroresistant isolates. We identified amino acid changes in PhoQ, PmrA, and PmrB, along with mRNA overexpression in pmrB and arnD. Colistin monotherapy showed no efficacy, but a combination of colistin and ciprofloxacin successfully eradicated all five isolates, even at 0.5 x minimum inhibitory concentrations. This study underscores the high prevalence of colistin heteroresistance in C. freundii isolates, limiting the effectiveness of colistin monotherapy. Combining colistin with ciprofloxacin may offer a viable treatment option for C. freundii infections. | Shin, Jong Hyun; Shin, Dongwoo; Kwon, Ki Tae; Ko, Kwan Soo | Sungkyunkwan Univ, Sch Med, Dept Microbiol, Suwon, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Sch Med, Dept Internal Med, Daegu, South Korea; Sungkyunkwan Univ, Sch Med, Dept Microbiol, Suwon 16419, South Korea | Kim, So-Young/JFS-7698-2023 | 58076442600; 55709729800; 9733850500; 7202689224 | ksko@skku.edu; | DIAGNOSTIC MICROBIOLOGY AND INFECTIOUS DISEASE | DIAGN MICR INFEC DIS | 0732-8893 | 1879-0070 | 108 | 4 | SCIE | INFECTIOUS DISEASES;MICROBIOLOGY | 2024 | 1.8 | 69.0 | 1.3 | 2025-05-07 | 2 | 2 | Citrobacter freundii; Colistin; Heteroresistance; Antibiotic combination | SUSCEPTIBILITY | Antibiotic combination; Citrobacter freundii; Colistin; Heteroresistance | Anti-Bacterial Agents; Bacterial Proteins; Ciprofloxacin; Citrobacter freundii; Colistin; Humans; Microbial Sensitivity Tests; Republic of Korea; amikacin; ciprofloxacin; colistin; imipenem; messenger RNA; antiinfective agent; bacterial protein; colistin; alternative medicine; arnD gene; Article; bacterial gene; bacterium isolate; Citrobacter freundii; colistin resistance; controlled study; drug efficacy; gene overexpression; genotype; human; Korea; minimum inhibitory concentration; monotherapy; pmrB gene; prevalence; epidemiology; genetics; metabolism; microbial sensitivity test; South Korea | English | 2024 | 2024-04 | 10.1016/j.diagmicrobio.2024.116187 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 |
