Article Ischemic stroke as an initial presentation of primary bone marrow lymphoma Various cancer types have been associated with cancer-related cerebral infarction. In this study, we describe the first case of cancer-related cerebral infarction in which the underlying disease was primary bone marrow lymphoma (PBML). A 79-year-old man presented with abruptly developed bilateral lower extremity weakness and confusion. Diffusion-weighted imaging on admission showed multiple cortical and subcortical embolic infarction lesions in multiple vascular territories. Diagnostic evaluations to determine the embolic source revealed no abnormalities. Laboratory testing demonstrated elevated D-dimer (2.59 mu g/mL) but no other prothrombotic abnormalities. In suspicion of cancer-related stroke, we performed chest CT, abdomen CT, and FDG-PET to detect the hidden malignancy. Findings revealed no evidence of cancer; however, they did reveal signs of anemia (hemoglobin 9.0 g/dL). Bone marrow aspiration biopsy showed large atypical B cell involvement suggestive of high-grade B cell lymphoma. The patient was diagnosed with primary bone marrow diffuse large B-cell lymphoma initially presenting with ischemic stroke. Our case suggests that primary bone marrow cancer may be a candidate for the differential diagnosis of hidden malignancy in patients with suspected cancer-related stroke. Bone marrow biopsy may be essential for establishing an appropriate differential diagnosis in patients with abnormal hematologic findings. Article 3,4-Dihydroxytoluene suppresses UVB-induced wrinkle formation by inhibiting Raf-1 This study examined the effect of 3,4-dihydroxytoluene (DHT) on UVB-induced photoaging and determined its molecular mechanisms, using HaCaT human keratinocytes and SKH-1 hairless mice. DHT suppressed UVB-induced matrix metalloproteinase-1 (MMP-1) expression in HaCaT cells. In vivo data from mouse skin supported that DHT decreased UVB-induced wrinkle formation, epidermal thickness, and matrix metalloproteinase-13 (MMP-13) expression. DHT appeared to exert its anti-aging effects by suppressing UVB-induced Raf-1 kinase activity and subsequent attenuation of UVB-induced phosphorylation of MEK, ERK, and p90RSK in HaCaT cells. In vitro and in vivo pull-down assays revealed that DHT bound with Raf-1 in ATP-noncompetitive manner. Overall, DHT appears to anti-photoaging effects in vitro and in vivo through the suppression of Raf-1 kinase activity and may have potential as a treatment for the prevention of skin aging. © 2020 Korean Society of Food Science and Technology. Proceedings Paper 3D Non-rigid Registration of Deformable Object Using GPU We propose a method to quickly process non-rigid registration between 3D deformable data using a GPU-based non-rigid ICP(Iterative Closest Point) algorithm. In this paper, we sequentially acquire whole-body model data of a person moving dynamically from a single RGBD camera. We use Dense Optical Flow algorithm to find the corresponding pixels between two consecutive frames. Next, we select nodes to estimate 3D deformation matrices by uniform sampling algorithm. We use a GPU-based non-rigid ICP algorithm to estimate the 3D transformation matrices of each node at high speed. We use non-linear optimization algorithm methods in the non-rigid ICP algorithm. We define energy functions for an estimate the exact 3D transformation matrices. We use a proposed GPU-based method because it takes a lot of computation time to calculate the 3D transformation matrices of all nodes. We apply a 3D transformation to all points with a weight-based affine transformation algorithm. We demonstrate the high accuracy of non-rigid registration and the fast runtime of the non-rigid ICP algorithm through experimental results. Article A case of delivery of a pregnant woman with COVID-19 infection in Daegu, Korea Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), which is affiliated with the ss-coronavirus subgroup, which includes SARS-CoV and Middle East respiratory syndrome coronavirus (MERS-CoV), but is far more infectious than the 2. Because it is potentially life-threatening to infants and pregnant women with weak immune systems, clinical manifestations and vertical transmission of COVID-19 are matters of interest. Staff of the obstetrics department of university hospitals in Daegu and of the Daegu metropolitan government designated Daegu Fatima Hospital for the delivery of pregnant women with suspected and confirmed SARS-CoV-2 infection. Thirteen pregnant women with laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 were identified. Among them was a 28-year-old pregnant woman who had recovered from COVID-19 and had given birth to a healthy girl at 38 weeks of gestational age. We present our uncommon experience with a brief review of literatures. Article A Case of Idiopathic Infratentorial Superficial Siderosis Superficial siderosis is attributed to hemosiderin deposition in the subpial layers of the nervous system. The clinical features of infratentorial superficial siderosis (ISS) are hearing loss, cerebellar ataxia, and corticospinal tract signs and the most common cause of idiopathic ISS is a dural defect. As magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) has advanced, the diagnosis of infratentorial superficial siderosis can be confirmed by unique radiological findings in MRI. Here, we report on a female patient diagnosed with idiopathic ISS by means of clinical symptoms and radiological findings. © 2020 Korean Society of Magnetic Resonance in Medicine (KSMRM). Article A case of IgG4-related disease associated with psoriasis-like skin rash and hypereosinophilic syndrome Immunoglobulin (Ig) G4-related disease (IgG4-RD) is newly recognized immune-mediated and fibroinflammatory conditions with various organ involvements. Any organs can be involved, but the pancreas, salivary gland, lymph nodes, and orbit are known to be commonly involved organs. A 54-year-old man presented with complaint of psoriasis like skin rash developed 4 years prior to admission. Although he had been treated for skin rash, the extent of skin lesions increased as well as hypereosinophilia, and multiple lymphadenopathies were newly developed. The patient was diagnosed with IgG4-RD by serum IgG4 levels and histologic examination of the inguinal lymph node. One month after treatment with steroid and azathioprine, his skin rash and lymphadenopathies resolved with improvement and eosinophil count was within the normal range. We herein report a case of a IgG4-RD patient associated with psoriasis-like skin rash and hypereosinophilic syndrome. Article A case of nasal angiomyolipoma in young man Angiomyolipoma is a benign tumor that is composed of adipose tissue, blood vessels and smooth muscle. The kidney is the most common site for this tumor. Although extrarenal angiomyolipoma is rarely found in areas other than the kidney, it has been observed in other organs such as liver, heart, mediastinum, spermatic cord, vaginal wall, oral cavity, and so on. Angiomyolipoma in the nasal cavity especially, has been very rarely reported in literature. Furthermore, nasal angiomyolipoma is mostly found in middle aged or old men. In this case, angiomyolipoma was found in a 29-year-old male patient who was the youngest of the reported cases. He complained of nasal obstruction and physical examination revealed a 1.5 cm sized mass in the left posterior part of the nasal septum. The mass was composed of an intimate mixture of mature fat, smooth muscle cells, and thick walled varying sized blood vessels histopathologically coinciding with angiomyolipoma. It was removed via endoscopic surgery without complications. Article A case of pulsatile tinnitus related to idiopathic intracranial hypertension Idiopathic intracranial hypertension (IIH) is a disorder that commonly occurs in obese young women of childbearing age and is characterized by symptoms such as pulsatile tinnitus, dizziness, headache, nausea, vomiting, and visual loss without any structural or vascular abnormalities in the intracranial cavity. We recently experienced a case of a 33-year-old obese woman who presented with right-sided pulsatile tinnitus, which is an early symptom for IIH. The patient was successfully treated with weight reduction and carbonic anhydrase inhibitor (acetazolamide). Pulsatile tinnitus requires thorough diagnosis and examination because it can be cured if the anatomical or functional cause is identified and treated. When obese women of childbearing age present with pulsatile tinnitus at the otorhinolaryngology outpatient department, treatment for IIH should be initiated after appropriate examination and diagnosis as pulsatile tinnitus may be the only symptom for IIH. © Copyright 2020 Korean Society of Otorhinolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery. Article A case of temporal bone cholesterol granuloma extending to posterior cranial fossa without middle ear involvement Cholesterol granulomas of the temporal bone can occur in the petrous apex, middle ear, and mastoid cavity. Although cholesterol granulomas in the petrous apex often extend to the middle cranial fossa, cholesterol granulomas in the middle ear and mastoids rarely invade the cranial cavity with bony erosion. We report a case of a large cholesterol granuloma involving the posterior cranial fossa with pneumatic mastoid and not affecting the middle ear. The patient had no otologic or neurologic symptoms, and the mass was found incidentally on a brain MRI included in a regular medical checkup. The mass was removed via a combined transmastoid and suboccipital approach without complications, and characteristic pathology findings demonstrated a cholesterol granuloma. Conference paper A cloud-based storage and retrieval solution for RDF Data In recent years, RDF (Resource Description Framework) has been widely recognized as a standard data storage format. There is a real issue that how to store and retrieve RDF data efficiently, because it is the foundation of all semantic-based application development. In this paper, we propose a novel storage and retrieval solution based on cloud and R*-tree. Different to existing approaches, we use cloud-based storage approach to compress RDF data, meanwhile R*-tree is adapted to retrieve compressed data. The advantage is that it not only reduces the local storage pressure but also improves the retrieval performance compare to existing approaches. Because we separate the storage and retrieval and adapt dictionary-based compression approaches, in terms of security and flexibility, our solution is better than existing approaches. © WCSE 2019.
