| ○ | ○ | Article | Surgical outcomes and survival of patients over 80 years old who underwent curative resection for gastric cancer | Purpose: Among patients with gastric cancer who underwent radical gastrectomy, the proportion of patients aged >= 80 years has increased. This study aimed to evaluate surgical outcomes and survival of patients aged >= 80 years who underwent curative resection for gastric cancer and identify independent factors that affect postoperative survival. Methods: This retrospective study enrolled 1,066 patients aged >= 65 years with gastric cancer who underwent curative resection between January 2014 and December 2018 at a single institution. They were divided into those aged >= 80 years (old-elderly group) and 65-79 years (young-elderly group). Their clinicopathological characteristics and surgical outcomes were compared. Results: Of the 1,066 patients, 136 (12.8%) were 80 years or older. Higher American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) physical status classification and more advanced cancers were observed in the old-elderly group than in the young-elderly group. No significant difference in postoperative complications was found between the groups. At a median follow-up of 49.1 months, the 5-year overall survival rate after surgery for the old-elderly group was lower than that for the youngelderly group (75.6% vs. 87.0%, P = 80 years had comparable postoperative outcomes and disease-specific survival to the young-elderly group, suggesting that curative gastrectomy can be considered a viable option for octogenarian patients with gastric cancer. | Lee, Seunghui; Lee, Miyeong; Kwan, Sangdon; Kim, Soohyung; Park, Ki Bum; Kwon, Oh Kyoung; Park, Ji Yeon | Kyungpook Natl Univ, Undergrad, Sch Med, Daegu, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Dept Surg, Sch Med, Daegu, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Dept Surg, Chilgok Hosp, Daegu, South Korea | ; Park, Ji Yeon/AAV-2471-2020 | 58764238800; 58764535700; 58764535800; 58764535900; 57220965452; 26536109900; 57196405216 | jybark99@hanmail.net; | ANNALS OF SURGICAL TREATMENT AND RESEARCH | ANN SURG TREAT RES | 2288-6575 | 2288-6796 | 105 | 6 | SCIE | SURGERY | 2023 | 1.2 | 63.9 | 0.33 | 2025-06-25 | 1 | 1 | Gastrectomy; Octogenarians; Stomach neoplasms; Survival | ELDERLY-PATIENTS; GASTRECTOMY; COMPLICATIONS; IMPACT | Gastrectomy; Octogenarians; Stomach neoplasms; Survival | English | 2023 | 2023-12 | 10.4174/astr.2023.105.6.376 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | ||
| ○ | ○ | Article | Synthesis and Characterization of Novel Poly(Vinylidene Fluoride)-Melamine Electrospun Nanofibers: An Extensive Analysis on Mechanical and Thermal Behavior | A novel Poly(vinylidene fluoride)-Melamine (PVDF-Melamine) nanofiber scaffold has been constructed through electrospinning method. The fabricated electro spin nanofibers were subjected to further morphological and chemical characterization i.e., x-ray Diffraction (XRD), Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR), Field emission Scanning Electron Microscope (FESEM) and x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). Heat response behavior and degree of crystallinity of the nanofibers were examined through thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). Mechanical strength and electrochemical behavior of the nanofibers were also analyzed. The electro spun PVDF-Melamine composite exhibited appreciable nanofiber morphology with average diameter ranging of 508.8 nm. FTIR and XRD results also confirmed the successful incorporation of melamine within the PVDF matrix. The PVDF-Melamine nanofibers possess superior mechanical strength compared to pristine PVDF nanofibers which is evident from the higher young's modulus of 12.6 MPa and enhanced tensile strength of 2.63 MPa for the PVDF-Melamine nanofiber. This work provides an approach to fabricate electro spun PVDF-Melamine nanofibers with superior mechanical strength which can be a promising material for real time applications. | ○ | ○ | Article | The effect of intra-firm linkages on firm productivity | In this study, we investigate the relationship between intra-firm linkages and firm productivity using a unique dataset from Korean multinational foreign affiliates. In an empirical analysis, we find that while intra-firm imports are not statistically associated with productivity on an economy-wide scale, a positive relationship exists among affiliates in industries with high levels of research and development (R & D) intensity. Our findings show that productivity gains from intra-firm trade are larger for affiliates in high R & D intensity industries, thus providing evidence that intra-firm trade is an important channel for knowledge transfer related to R & D for foreign affiliates of multinational corporations. | Cho, Jaehan; Choi, Bo-Young | Korea Inst Ind Econ & Trade, Sejong, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Sch Econ & Trade, 80 Daehak Ro, Daegu 41566, South Korea | 57202081801; 57226503191 | bychoi2@knu.ac.kr; | REVIEW OF INTERNATIONAL ECONOMICS | REV INT ECON | 0965-7576 | 1467-9396 | 31 | 3 | SSCI | ECONOMICS | 2023 | 1 | 63.9 | 0.36 | 2025-06-25 | 2 | 2 | foreign affiliates; intra-firm trade; knowledge transfer; multinational corporations | RESEARCH-AND-DEVELOPMENT; VERTICAL INTEGRATION; TRADE; MULTINATIONALS | foreign affiliates; intra-firm trade; knowledge transfer; multinational corporations | Korea; data set; industrial linkage; knowledge economy; multinational enterprise; productivity; research and development; trade | English | 2023 | 2023-08 | 10.1111/roie.12647 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | ||
| ○ | ○ | Article | An exploratory study on the perceived agility by consumers in luxury brand omni-channel | Perceived agility in luxury brands means that they provide information about changes in customer expectations and preferences quickly and flexibly. Millennial and Z generation customers not only expect to interact immediately with the brand but also expect unique services meeting their needs and expectations. A digitalized luxury brand only selling products and providing services can no longer maintain customer satisfaction. This study explores the importance of perceived agility and the timing of when customers perceive more agility in the shopping journey of a digitized luxury brand. Data were collected using Netnography, a qualitative research method, and analyzed using NVivo 11.0. The results show that increasing perceived agility through meeting consumer expectations and quickly responding to the environment by actively introducing digitalization to improve customer interaction is a factor differentiated from customer service. The findings have implications for how practitioners and managers of luxury brands can improve consumers' unique experiences while adapting to changing service encounters. | Son, Sang-Chul; Bae, Joonheui; Kim, Kyung Hoon | Changwon Natl Univ, Dept Business Adm, Chang Won, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Sch Business Adm, Daegu, South Korea; Changwon Natl Univ, Chang Won, South Korea | ; Bae, Joonheui/JXM-6789-2024 | 57226322251; 57202349513; 55710559700 | stride@changwon.ac.kr; | JOURNAL OF GLOBAL SCHOLARS OF MARKETING SCIENCE | J GLOB SCHOLARS MARK | 2163-9159 | 2163-9167 | 33 | 1 | ESCI | BUSINESS | 2023 | 1.9 | 64.0 | 1.23 | 2025-06-25 | 4 | 6 | Perceived agility; luxury brand; digitalized omni-channel; customer experience; exploratory study | CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE; INTENTION; CONTEXTS; FUTURE; IMPACT | customer experience; digitalized omni-channel; exploratory study; luxury brand; Perceived agility | English | 2023 | 2023-01-02 | 10.1080/21639159.2022.2153261 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | ||
| ○ | ○ | Article | Diffusion of moral behavior on a collaborative consumption platform: Dual mechanisms of deindividuation and self-presentation | Although collaborative consumption platforms (CCPs) have achieved rapid growth, the increase in misbehavior on CCPs has made users hesitant to participate. This study examines how previous moral behavior influences subsequent moral behavior and how deindividuation and self-disclosure, as psychological mechanisms, influence subsequent moral behavior. To test the hypotheses, this study conducted two experiments. Data were analyzed using logistic regression analysis. The results show that the previous user's misbehavior (or good behavior) positively affects the subsequent user's misbehavior (or good behavior). Furthermore, without self-disclosure, deindividuation mediates the effect of the previous user's misbehavior on the subsequent user's misbehavior. Conversely, when there is self-disclosure, self-presentation mediates the effect of the previous user's good behavior on the subsequent user's good behavior. The study provides a diffusion model of moral behavior on CCPs through a dual mechanism of deindividuation and self-presentation while considering self-disclosure as a nudge. | Bae, Joonheui; Kim, Kyung Hoon | Kyungpook Natl Univ, Sch Business Adm, Daegu, South Korea; Changwon Natl Univ, Sch Business Adm, Chang Won, South Korea; Changwon Natl Univ, Sch Business Adm, 20 Changwondaehak Ro, Changwon Si 51140, Gyeongsangnam D, South Korea | Bae, Joonheui/JXM-6789-2024 | 57202349513; 55710559700 | stride@changwon.ac.kr; | JOURNAL OF GLOBAL SCHOLARS OF MARKETING SCIENCE | J GLOB SCHOLARS MARK | 2163-9159 | 2163-9167 | 33 | 2 | ESCI | BUSINESS | 2023 | 1.9 | 64.0 | 0.62 | 2025-06-25 | 2 | 3 | Collaborative consumption platform; moral behavior; deindividuation; self-presentation; self-disclosure | SOCIAL IDENTITY; DISCLOSURE; ONLINE; COMMUNICATION; DETERMINANTS; AWARENESS; ANONYMITY; INTERNET; IMPACT; MEDIA | Collaborative consumption platform; deindividuation; moral behavior; self-disclosure; self-presentation | English | 2023 | 2023-04-03 | 10.1080/21639159.2023.2175708 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | ||
| ○ | ○ | Article | Factors associated with depression and suicidal ideation among oldest-old adults aged 85?years or older based on gender, using the survey data of South Korea | BackgroundSouth Korea is predicted to become a superaged society around 2025. Depression in older adults is a major factor influencing suicide. South Korea exhibits the highest suicide rate among the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development countries.MethodsThis study aimed to examine the factors associated with depression and suicidal ideation among individuals aged 85 years or older based on gender. Data were obtained from the Korea Institute for Health and Social Affairs, 2017. Overall, 768 individuals aged & GE;85 years were included in the final analysis. The participants' general, health-related, and social characteristics were analyzed as factors influencing depression and suicidal ideation.ResultsAmong male oldest-old adults, living arrangements and the number of chronic diseases were factors affecting depression, while activities of daily living restrictions and the number of chronic diseases were factors affecting suicidal ideation. Among female oldest-old adults, only the number of chronic diseases affected depression, while financial status and the number of chronic diseases were the factors affecting suicidal ideation.ConclusionsThe healthcare and welfare services for older adults must be expanded to cater to oldest-old adults who live alone, have activities of daily living restrictions, and have lower financial status. Additionally, the oldest age group's psychological health must be monitored regularly for depression and suicidal ideation to implement active interventions for this high-risk group. | Kim, Yujeong; Nam, Eunhee; Yun, Younghee | Kyungpook Natl Univ, Res Inst Nursing Sci, Coll Nursing, Daegu, South Korea; Hlth Insurance Review & Assessment Serv, Wonju, South Korea; Univ Calif San Francisco, Sch Nursing, San Francisco, CA USA; Hlth Insurance Review & Assessment Serv, 60 Innovat Ro, Wonju 26465, South Korea | Yun, Chaewon/HKW-8508-2023 | 57200941945; 57669112900; 58003142900 | dmsgml7278@naver.com; | PSYCHOGERIATRICS | PSYCHOGERIATRICS | 1346-3500 | 1479-8301 | 23 | 6 | SCIE | GERIATRICS & GERONTOLOGY;PSYCHIATRY | 2023 | 1.7 | 64.0 | 1.98 | 2025-06-25 | 8 | 9 | activities of daily living; aged; chronic disease; depression; suicidal ideation | DEMENTIA; LIFE; DISABILITY; SYMPTOMS; ANXIETY; RISK | activities of daily living; aged; chronic disease; depression; suicidal ideation | Activities of Daily Living; Aged; Aged, 80 and over; Chronic Disease; Depression; Female; Humans; Male; Republic of Korea; Risk Factors; Suicidal Ideation; aged; Article; chronic disease; community living; controlled study; daily life activity; depression; disease association; elderly care; factor analysis; female; financial management; health service; health survey; high risk population; human; information processing; major clinical study; male; medical parameters; mental health; patient monitoring; social aspect; social welfare; South Korea; suicidal ideation; very elderly; depression; psychology; risk factor; South Korea | English | 2023 | 2023-11 | 10.1111/psyg.13020 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | |

| ○ | ○ | Article | Impact of non-muscle cutting periumbilical transverse incision on the risk of incisional hernia as compared to midline incision during laparoscopic colon cancer surgery: a study protocol for a multi-centre randomised controlled trial | Background Minimally invasive surgery has become popular as a surgical approach for colorectal cancer because it has fewer complications related to the abdominal incision and perioperative complications. However, the incidence of incisional hernias in laparoscopic surgery has been reported to be similar to that in open surgery. We developed a new method, the non-muscle-cutting periumbilical transverse incision, for a small incision in laparoscopic colon cancer surgery. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the non-muscle-cutting periumbilical transverse incision in comparison with the midline incision in reducing the incidence of an incisional hernia in patients undergoing laparoscopic colon cancer surgery. Methods This is an open-label, multi-centre, parallel, superiority, and randomised trial. Altogether, 174 patients will be allocated in a 1:1 ratio to either the midline incision or the non-muscle-cutting periumbilical transverse incision group, after stratifying by the location of the tumour (right- or left-sided). The primary outcome of this study is the incidence of incisional hernias (both symptomatic and radiologic hernias) at 12 months after surgery. The secondary outcomes include operative outcomes, 30-day postoperative complications, pathological results, and patient-reported outcomes (short form-12 health survey questionnaire and body image questionnaire). Both primary (intention-to-treat) and secondary (as-treated principles) analyses will be performed for all outcomes. The statistical significance level was set at p < 0.05 (two-sided testing).Discussion This trial may show that the non-muscle-cutting periumbilical transverse incision will reduce the incidence of incisional hernias compared to the midline incision. | Park, Soo Yeun; Ha, Gi Won; Lee, Soo Young; Kim, Chang Hyun; Son, Gyung Mo | Kyungpook Natl Univ, Chilgok Hosp, Colorectal Canc Ctr, Sch Med, Daegu, South Korea; Jeonbuk Natl Univ, Jeonbuk Natl Univ Hosp, Res Inst Clin Med, Biomed Res Inst, Jeonju, Jeonbuk, South Korea; Chonnam Natl Univ, Dept Surg, Hwasun Hosp & Med Sch, Hwasun, South Korea; Pusan Natl Univ, Yangsan Hosp, Sch Med, Dept Surg, Yangsan, South Korea | 손, 경모/HZJ-3181-2023; Lee, Soo Young/NFU-0636-2025; Kim, chang/F-6457-2013; Ha, Gi/W-2026-2019 | 40561578300; 56562681000; 59055078800; 57214805950; 35741980300 | cksantiago8@gmail.com; | TRIALS | TRIALS | 1745-6215 | 24 | 1 | SCIE | MEDICINE, RESEARCH & EXPERIMENTAL | 2023 | 2 | 64.3 | 0.51 | 2025-06-25 | 3 | 2 | Laparoscopes; Incisional hernia; Laparotomy; Wounds and injuries; RCT; Protocol | COLORECTAL SURGERY; RESECTION; OUTCOMES; SITE | Incisional hernia; Laparoscopes; Laparotomy; Protocol; RCT; Wounds and injuries | Body Image; Colonic Neoplasms; Health Surveys; Humans; Incisional Hernia; Multicenter Studies as Topic; Postoperative Complications; Randomized Controlled Trials as Topic; adult; Article; cancer surgery; clinical effectiveness; colon cancer; comparative effectiveness; controlled study; human; incision; incisional hernia; laparoscopic surgery; length of stay; major clinical study; minimally invasive surgery; multicenter study; open study; outcome assessment; periumbilical midline incision; periumbilical transverse incision; postoperative pain; randomized controlled trial; reoperation; surgical approach; body image; colon tumor; health survey; incisional hernia; multicenter study (topic); postoperative complication; randomized controlled trial (topic) | English | 2023 | 2023-02-28 | 10.1186/s13063-023-07162-x | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | ||
| ○ | Article | Dissemination and characteristics of high-level erythromycin-resistant Enterococcus faecalis from bulk tank milk of dairy companies in Korea | Enterococci are environmental pathogens that can cause bovine mastitis, which is treated with macrolides, one of which is erythromycin (ERY). The aim of this study was to compare the characteristics of high-level erythromycin-resistant (HLER) Enterococcus faecalis (E. faecalis) isolates from bulk tank milk of 4 dairy companies, identified as A to D, in order to assess the threat to public health. Although isolates from company D showed the highest prevalence of E. faecalis, the prevalence of HLER E. faecalis in isolates from company A showed a significant difference. A total of 149 of the 301 HLER E. faecalis isolates showed the highest rate of resistance to tetracycline. In the distribution of antimicrobial resistance genes, 147 isolates carried the ermB gene alone and 2 isolates carried both ermA and ermB genes. Also, 72 and 60 isolates carried both tetM and tetL genes and the tetM gene alone, respectively, and 38 isolates carried the optrA gene. The prevalence of both aac(6')Ie-aph(2')-la and ant(6')-Ia genes was the highest and 104 isolates harbored the Int-Tn gene carrying the Tn916/1545-like transposon. Although the distribution of the ermB gene showed no significant difference among dairy companies, the prevalence of other resistance genes and transposons showed significant differences among dairy companies. Virulence genes were highly conserved in the HLER E. faecalis isolates. Our results indicated that there were significant differences in phenotypic and genotypic characteristics of HLER E. faecalis isolates in milk from 4 different dairy companies. A structured management protocol by companies and constant monitoring are therefore necessary to minimize public health hazards. | Lee, Yu Jin; Kim, Koeun; Lee, Young Ju | Kyungpook Natl Univ, Coll Vet Med, Daegu 41566, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Zoonoses Res Inst, Daegu 41566, South Korea | youngju@knu.ac.kr; | CANADIAN JOURNAL OF VETERINARY RESEARCH-REVUE CANADIENNE DE RECHERCHE VETERINAIRE | CAN J VET RES | 1928-9022 | 87 | 1 | SCIE | VETERINARY SCIENCES | 2023 | 0.8 | 64.4 | 3 | AMINOGLYCOSIDE-MODIFYING ENZYMES; 23S RIBOSOMAL-RNA; MACROLIDE RESISTANCE; ANTIMICROBIAL RESISTANCE; VIRULENCE FACTORS; DOMAIN-II; GENE; IDENTIFICATION; STRAINS; FAECIUM | English | 2023 | 2023-01 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | ||||||||||||||
| ○ | ○ | Article | The Linguistic Landscape as an Identity Construction Site of a United States' Higher Educational Institution in the Time of COVID-19 | This study examines how the linguistic landscape of a university in the midwestern United States has changed since the COVID-19 pandemic, and how that change has discursively constructed the identities of the university and its community. The focus lies in the newly displayed semiotics that provides information about preventing the virus from spreading. By analysing public signs such as flyers, posters, and banners whose contents have to do with COVID-19, this study found the following five ways in which the institution and community express their identities and voices. The university's identity has shifted to that of an agent that acts to encourage a united effort to protect itself and its community; a caring entity that cares about community members; a site for community members' voice expression; a space creator to expand interaction from physical to online discourses; and an information deliverer for international members of the community. This study calls for research that investigates the global pandemic's influence on the linguistic landscape. | Im, Jae-hyun | Kyungpook Natl Univ, Daegu, South Korea | Im, Jae-hyun/LBG-8779-2024 | 59026604100 | imjaeh@knu.ac.kr; | EDUCATION AS CHANGE | EDUC CHANGE | 1682-3206 | 1947-9417 | 27 | SSCI | EDUCATION & EDUCATIONAL RESEARCH | 2023 | 0.8 | 64.4 | 1.54 | 2025-06-25 | 4 | 7 | linguistic landscape; schoolscape; COVID-19; institutional identity; translanguaging | ENGLISH; LANGUAGE; SCHOOL | COVID-19; institutional identity; linguistic landscape; schoolscape; translanguaging | English | 2023 | 2023 | 10.25159/1947-9417/11405 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | |||
| ○ | ○ | Article | Pay ratio and operational efficiency | Using a comprehensive US sample over the period 1995-2010, we examine the effects of CEO-to-employee pay ratios on operational efficiency. We have found evidence that the pay ratio is negatively associated with firm efficiency. This means that employees perceive higher pay ratios as an inequitable outcome that discourages their collaborations and leads to dissatisfaction with their working environments. We conduct a battery of tests to alleviate the endogenous nature of pay ratios and a variety of other sensitivity tests. We also find that the association is more pronounced when collaborative working environments are better, as in cases of: 1) firms with lower default risk; 2) firms with lower financial analysts' attention; 3) firms with stronger less severe risk-aversion. Our paper provides significant evidence for the ongoing policy debate over pay inequality on firm operations. | Koo, KwangJoo | Kyungpook Natl Univ, Coll Econ & Business Adm, Sch Business Adm, 80 Daehak Ro, Daegu 41566, South Korea | 57202687309 | kjkoo@knu.ac.kr; | INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF MANAGERIAL AND FINANCIAL ACCOUNTING | INT J MANAG FINANC A | 1753-6715 | 1753-6723 | 15 | 4 | ESCI | BUSINESS, FINANCE | 2023 | 1.2 | 64.6 | 0.17 | 2025-06-25 | 1 | 1 | pay ratio; social comparison; tournament theory; firm efficiency | RANK-ORDER TOURNAMENTS; TOP MANAGEMENT; EXECUTIVE-COMPENSATION; PERFORMANCE; QUALITY; DISPARITIES; HYPOTHESIS; INCENTIVES | firm efficiency; pay ratio; social comparison; tournament theory | English | 2023 | 2023 | 10.1504/ijmfa.2023.133792 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | |||
| ○ | ○ | Article | Clinical comparative analysis of bacterial keratitis according to contact lens use: a retrospective study in a tertiary referral center of South Korea | PurposeTo compare the clinical aspects and treatment outcomes of contact lens-related bacterial keratitis (CLBK) and non-CLBK patients.MethodsAltogether 217 patients of bacterial keratitis (CLBK; 62, non-CLBK; 155) hospitalized between January 2012 and December 2020 were retrospectively analyzed for epidemiology, microbiological profiles, predisposing factors, clinical characteristics, and treatment outcomes. Poor treatment outcomes (PTO) were defined as a final BCVA < 0.3 (Snellen), a decreased visual acuity after treatment, complications, or surgical intervention. Relative importance of the initial clinical features leading to PTO was assessed using the random forest model and two-proportion Z-test.ResultsThe most common predisposing factors were sleeping with wearing CL (51.6%) in the CLBK group and trauma (55.5%) in the non-CLBK group. There were significant differences between the two groups in mean age (35.1:55.1 years, p < 0.001), female sex (56.5:34.8%, p = 0.003), symptom duration (6.2:6.9 days, p = 0.019), gram-negative organisms (83.3:48.3%, p = 0.008), epithelial healing time (8.5:14.1 days, p = 0.004), final BCVA (0.15:0.46 logMAR, p = 0.015), and PTO (9.7:21.9%, p = 0.035). For the entire group, the initial BCVA < 0.1 (27.9%), symptom duration & GE; 5 days (19.4%), age & GE; 60 years (16.4%), and hypopyon (14.0%) were important initial clinical features leading to PTO in the random forest model. In CLBK group, the type of CL or CL-related history was not significantly related to PTO.ConclusionCLBK patients had a higher proportion of females, younger age, gram-negative bacteria, and better treatment outcomes than those of non-CLBK patients. | ○ | ○ | Article | Alleviating Mn³⁺ Dissolution in ZnMn2O4 Cathode for the Extended Cyclability via Particle Size Increase | ZnMn2O4 (ZMO) cathode possesses a high theoretical capacity of 224 mAh g(-1) and high operating voltage (1.9 V vs. Zn2+/Zn) for aqueous Zn-ion batteries. However, the disproportionation reaction of Mn3+ leads to Mn dissolution in the ZMO cathode, deteriorating lifespan. In this study, we attempted to reduce Mn dissolution by enlarging the particle size, thereby diminishing the electrode/electrolyte interfacial area. The ZMO particle grew with increasing the calcination temperatures of 400(degrees)C, 500(degrees)C, and 600(degrees)C. Higher calcination temperature created oxygen vacancies within the lattice, thereby increasing the contents of Mn3+ for charge neutrality. The rate capability decreased with the increase in particle size, which is presumed to be due to the lengthening of the diffusion path of Zn ions. After a long-cycle experiment of Zn-ion batteries assembled with ZMO cathode and Zn anode, the Mn deposit amount on the anode was measured to reveal the Mn dissolution from the ZMO cathode based on the disproportionation reaction. The ZMO particle synthesized at 600(degrees)C with the largest particle size demonstrated the highest cyclability of 48.1% at 1.0 A g(-1) based on the lowest Mn deposit on the anode. Hence, the ZMO electrode with a larger particle size exhibited improved cycle stability by alleviating of the disproportionation reaction from the reduced electrode/electrolyte interfacial area. | Park, Jae Young; Choi, Young Mook; Chun, Sang-Eun | Kyungpook Natl Univ, Dept Hydrogen & Renewable Energy, Daegu 41566, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Sch Mat Sci & Engn, Daegu 41566, South Korea | chun, sang-eun/I-7271-2012; Park, Jaeyoung/JHT-3056-2023 | 36066776800; 57373623200; 36801080300 | sangeun@knu.ac.kr; | KOREAN JOURNAL OF METALS AND MATERIALS | KOREAN J MET MATER | 1738-8228 | 61 | 12 | SCIE | MATERIALS SCIENCE, MULTIDISCIPLINARY;METALLURGY & METALLURGICAL ENGINEERING | 2023 | 1.1 | 65.0 | 0 | 2025-06-25 | 0 | 0 | Zinc-ion battery; ZnMn2O4; Mn dissolution; Particle size; Cycle stability | LUMINESCENCE PROPERTIES; MAGNETIC-PROPERTIES; RATE-CAPABILITY; SODIUM-ION; MANGANESE; CAPACITY; TEMPERATURE; STABILITY; PERFORMANCE; CONDUCTIVITY | Cycle stability; Mn dissolution; Particle size; Zinc–ion battery; ZnMn2O4 | Anodes; Calcination; Cathodes; Deposits; Dissolution; Ions; Manganese; Oxygen vacancies; Secondary batteries; Zinc; Zinc compounds; Cyclability; Cycle stability; Disproportionation reactions; Interfacial areas; Ion batteries; Mn dissolutions; Particles sizes; Zinc ions; Zinc–ion battery; Zn ions; Particle size | Korean | 2023 | 2023-12 | 10.3365/kjmm.2023.61.12.923 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | ||
| ○ | ○ | Article | CRISPR/Cas9-mediated AtGATA25 mutant represents a novel model for regulating hypocotyl elongation in Arabidopsis thaliana | Background Plants have evolved to adapt to the ever-changing environments through various morphological changes. An organism anticipates and responds to changes in its environment via the circadian clock, an endogenous oscillator lasting approximately 24 h. The circadian clock regulates various physiological processes, such as hypocotyl elongation in Arabidopsis thaliana. Phytochrome interacting factor 4 (PIF4), a member of the bHLH protein family, plays a vital hub role in light signaling pathways and temperature-mediated growth response mechanisms. PIF4 is controlled by the circadian clock and interacts with several factors. However, the components that regulate PIF4 transcription and activity are not clearly understood. Methods and Results Here, we showed that the Arabidopsis thaliana GATA25 (AtGATA25) transcription factor plays a fundamental role in promoting hypocotyl elongation by positively regulating the expression of PIF4. This was confirmed to in the loss-of-function mutant of AtGATA25 via CRISPR/Cas9-mediated gene editing, which inhibits hypocotyl elongation and decreases the expression of PIF4. In contrast, the overexpression of AtGATA25 in transgenic plants resulted in increased expression of PIF4 and enhanced hypocotyl elongation. To better understand AtGATA25-mediated PIF4 transcriptional regulation, we analyzed the promoter region of the target gene PIF4 and characterized the role of GATA25 through transcriptional activation analysis. Conclusion Our findings suggest a novel role of the AtGATA25 transcription factor in hypocotyl elongation. | Kim, Kihwan; Shin, Juhyung; Kang, Tae-An; Kim, Byeonggyu; Kim, Won-Chan | Kyungpook Natl Univ, Dept Appl Biosci, Daegu 41566, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Dept Integrat Biol, Daegu 41566, South Korea | ; KIM, WON/AAJ-4506-2020 | 57210357476; 57222983867; 57652386200; 57222988339; 55492085000 | kwc@knu.ac.kr; | MOLECULAR BIOLOGY REPORTS | MOL BIOL REP | 0301-4851 | 1573-4978 | 50 | 1 | SCIE | BIOCHEMISTRY & MOLECULAR BIOLOGY | 2023 | 2.6 | 65.0 | 1.33 | 2025-06-25 | 9 | 10 | AtGATA25; Circadian clock; CRISPR; Cas9; Hypocotyl elongation; Phytochrome interacting factor 4 | DISRUPTS CIRCADIAN-RHYTHMS; PHOTOPERIODIC CONTROL; GENE-EXPRESSION; GATA FACTOR; LIGHT; TRANSCRIPTION; CLOCK; PIF4; SYSTEM; GROWTH | AtGATA25; Circadian clock; CRISPR/Cas9; Hypocotyl elongation; Phytochrome interacting factor 4 | Arabidopsis; Arabidopsis Proteins; Basic Helix-Loop-Helix Transcription Factors; CRISPR-Cas Systems; Gene Expression Regulation, Plant; Hypocotyl; Phytochrome; Transcription Factors; copolymer; cycloheximide; deoxyribonuclease I; dexamethasone; endonuclease; glucocorticoid receptor; macrogol; phytochrome; transcription factor; Arabidopsis protein; basic helix loop helix transcription factor; phytochrome; transcription factor; activation analysis; Agrobacterium; Arabidopsis thaliana; Article; circadian rhythm; CRISPR-CAS9 system; gene; gene editing; gene expression; gene mutation; hypocotyl; loss of function mutation; nonhuman; physiological process; PIF4; polymerase chain reaction; promoter region; protein synthesis; Sanger sequencing; signal transduction; transcription initiation; transgenic plant; Arabidopsis; CRISPR Cas system; gene expression regulation; genetics; metabolism | English | 2023 | 2023-01 | 10.1007/s11033-022-07926-9 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | |
| ○ | Article | Effect of Ni-based Fillers on Corrosion Resistance of Heat Affected Zone of Super Austenitic Stainless Steel (UNS S31254) Welded by GTAW; [GTAW로 용접한 초내식성 오스테나이트계 스테인리스강 (UNS S31254) 열영향부의 내식성에 미치는 Ni계 용가재의 영향] | The effect of Ni-based fillers on corrosion resistance of welded super austenitic stainless steel (SASS) was examined. The use of Ni-based fillers for gas tungsten arc welded SASS leads to the formation of fine Cr-Mo enriched phase in its weld unmixed zone, which makes it more susceptible to the localized corrosion. The metallographic observations showed that the pits were initiated around the fine Cr-Mo enriched phase precipitated in unmixed zone, and they were propagated along the base metal. The degree of corrosion damage among the welded samples using the three types of Ni-based fillers (Inconel 625, Inconel 622, Hastelloy 276) increased with the Mo contents in the fillers applied. The higher the Mo contents in the fillers, the higher the size/number ratio of Cr-Mo enriched phase with higher concentration of Mo, precipitated in unmixed zone. Based on the results, it is proposed that the Mo contents in Ni-based high alloyed fillers can have a great effect on the precipitation behavior of Cr-Mo enriched phase in unmixed zone, causing deterioration of corrosion resistance of SASS welds. Therefore, the Mo content in the filler should be optimized with the content similar to that of the base metal so as not to susceptible to localized corrosion.
