| ○ | Article | Currency Bias of Sovereign Wealth Fund Investments* | This study provides an alternative explanation for the poor performance of sovereign wealth fund (SWF) investments based on key currency bias. Using the international portfolio rebalancing model and the matched firm data of 18,704 and 8,267 cases of SWFs’ cross-border investment during 1999–2017, evidence strongly supports the key currency bias hypothesis for the determination of SWFs’ cross-border investments. In sharp contrast to the relationship between the exchange rate and international portfolio flows, the economic rationale for the currency bias is to provide hedging against the exchange risk of SWFs’ crossborder investments by matching the denominated key currency of the SWF sources with the other denominated currency of foreign target assets. This study complements the existing finance literature by providing portfolio implications for analyzing cross-border investments by commercial institution investors and portfolio rebalancing of financial assets between different currency zones. © 2022, Korean Economic Association. | ○ | ○ | Article | A Study on Labor Force Reduction and Fruit Quality with the Use of Substances Showing Thinning Effect in 'Fuji' and 'Arisu' Apple Varieties | Thinning is a common practice in apple production. Many thinning agents have been used to thin apples. The effectiveness of the agents depends on the apple variety and other factors such as orchard conditions or environmental ones. 'Fuji' is one of the apple varieties that is difficult to thin and has been stubborn with different chemical thinning agents. In this study we evaluate the effectiveness of the flower thinning effect agent (FTEA) on 'Fuji' (late maturing variety) and 'Arisu' (early maturing variety) apple qualities such as fruit weight, L/D, hardness, number of seeds, sugar content, and acidity. FTEA was sprayed at 70% bloom only one time. The fruit set rates of FTEA-treated ones were 34.8% for 'Fuji' and 19.9% for 'Arisu', while those of the control were 73.0% for 'Fuji' and 79.9% for 'Arisu'. Thus, the fruit set rates were 38.2-60.0% lower in FTEA-treated plot than the controls. The weight of the fruits also increased by 4.6-13.0%. However, there were no differences in acidity, coloring, seed number, russet and physiological disorders between the two groups. In addition, we noticed a significant increase in yield without any negative effects, and the results generally showed that FTEA has a significant effect on 'Fuji' and 'Arisu' apple fruits. For the stimulation effect of pollen tube elongation, the results indicated no effect of FTEA on pollen tube elongation in an in vitro experiment. FTEA treatment significantly reduced total cost and labor force of flower thinning activity in apple orchard as decreased 67.8% and 76.6%. These results showed that the effects of FTEA spray for flower thinning were significant for both 'Fuji' and 'Arisu' varieties for fruit weight, thinning cost, and labor force reduction. | Son, Tae-Kwon; Ozaki, Yukio; Lee, Kyeong-Yeoll | Kyushu Univ, Fac Agr, Dept Bioresource Sci, Div Agrobiol Sci,Lab Hort Sci, Fukuoka 8190395, Japan; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Coll Agr & Life Sci, Dept Farm Management, 80 Daehak Ro, Daegu 41566, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Coll Agr & Life Sci, Sch Appl Biosci, 80 Daehak Ro, Daegu 41566, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Inst Agr Sci & Technol, 80 Daehak Ro, Daegu 41566, South Korea | OZAKI, Yukio/HNR-1468-2023 | 24924047300; 55708968000; 57217153096 | leeky@knu.ac.kr; | JOURNAL OF THE FACULTY OF AGRICULTURE KYUSHU UNIVERSITY | J FAC AGR KYUSHU U | 0023-6152 | 65 | 2 | SCIE | AGRICULTURE, MULTIDISCIPLINARY | 2020 | 0.327 | 93.9 | 0.17 | 2025-06-25 | 2 | 2 | apple; chemical thinning; flower thinning; fruit set; labor force reduction | ETHEPHON; GROWTH | Apple; Chemical thinning; Flower thinning; Fruit set; Labor force reduction | English | 2020 | 2020 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | |||||
| ○ | ○ | Article | Effects of Eco-Friendly Flower Thinning Formulations on a Pollination Insect, Apis mellifera | Flower thinning is necessary for crop production in various orchards. The effects of various ingredients of Kodmi-Plus, an eco-friendly flower thinning formulation (FTF), were determined on the major pollination insect Apis mellifera. Three different FTFs, a mixture of 0.7% zinc and 1.5% manganese (A), a mixture of 0.7% zinc and 2.0% boron (B), a mixture of 2.0% seaweed extract (C), and lime sulfur solution were examined by measuring the contact and oral toxicities against adult worker bees. Both direct spray and oral ingestion of all three 1% FTF solutions did not cause any lethal effects for workers based on 72 h observation, but treatment with 1% lime sulfur solution increased worker mortality. Oral ingestion of FTF A and FTF C did not inhibit acetylcholinesterase (AChE) activity of workers at 24 h after treatment, but was slightly decreased by FIT B treatment. However, oral ingestion of the organophosphate pesticide dichlorvos or lime sulfur solutions significantly inhibited AChE activities. Our results suggest that manganese and seaweed extract of FTFs were not toxic for honeybees, in terms of contact and ingestion. Therefore, newly developed FTE's can be used to improve flower thinning activity without any detrimental effects on pollinating insects. | Son, Tae-Kwon; Hwang, Hwal-Su; Mostafiz, Md Munir; Ozaki, Yukio; Lee, Kyeong-Yeoll | Kyushu Univ, Fac Agr, Dept Bioresource Sci, Lab Hort Sci,Div Agrobiol Sci, Fukuoka 8190395, Japan; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Coll Agr & Life Sci, Dept Farm Management, 80 Daehak Ro, Daegu 41566, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Coll Agr & Life Sci, Sch Appl Biosci, 80 Daehak Ro, Daegu 41566, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Inst Agr Sci & Technol, 80 Daehak Ro, Daegu 41566, South Korea | Mostafiz, Md. | ○ | ○ | Article | Duty of Fair Presentation after the Enactment of the Insurance Act 2015: The Case of Korea and China | Purpose - The purpose of this paper is to analyze the reformed duty of fair presentation provisions and related caselaw of the Insurance Act 2015 to gain a clearer understanding of the differences between the Act and the preceding legislation. Design/methodology - The authors analyzed caselaw from South Korea and China that involved breaches of the duty of disclosure. Cases highlighting differences between the duties of disclosure and fair presentation were selected. Findings - Changes in the practice of marine insurance laws are expected from the application of the reformed duty of presentation provisions. In particular, the rights of the insured are expected to increase, resulting in the fairer conduct of insurance contracts. Due to the fact that the Insurance Act 2015 has only recently taken effect, the provisions of existing caselaw have not yet been applied. This has limited the authors' scope of analysis. Originality/value - This paper describes the implications of the duty of fair presentation by analyzing caselaw from South Korea and China that involves the duty of disclosure. To the best of the authors' knowledge, this is the first paper that investigates the reformed duty of fair presentation provisions of the Insurance Act 2015 in the context of the legislation's implications for trade practices. | Ahn, Tae-Kun; Kim, Sung-Ryong; Peng, Tian | Pukyong Natl Univ, Div Int Commerce, Busan, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Sch Econ & Trade, Daegu, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Grad Sch Int Trade, Daegu, South Korea | Kim, Hyeuk/O-9911-2015 | 57221446413; 57221440036; 57221440352 | jackie3@knu.ac.kr; | JOURNAL OF KOREA TRADE | J KOREA TRADE | 1229-828X | 24 | 2 | SSCI | ECONOMICS | 2020 | 0.512 | 94.6 | 0 | 2025-06-25 | 0 | 0 | Duty of Disclosure; Duty of Fair Presentation; Insurance Act 2015; Marine Cargo Insurance; Marine Insurance Act 1906 | Duty of disclosure; Duty of fair presentation; Insurance act 2015; Marine cargo insurance; Marine insurance act 1906 | English | 2020 | 2020-04 | 10.35611/jkt.2020.24.2.1 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | ||||
| ○ | Article | Molecular Characterization of Bovine Viral Diarrhea Virus Infection from Boer Goats | Bovine viral diarrhea virus (BVDV) is an economically important viral pathogen of the cattle industry worldwide. BVDV has a very broad host range and can infect domestic and wild ruminants as well as swine. Recently, the goat industry has increasingly developed in the Republic of Korea (ROK). However, very limited information is available about BVDV infection in goats. The objective of this study was to investigate the prevalence of BVDV infection in goats and determine the subtype of BVDV circulating in the ROK. Between 2018 and 2019, a total of 659 blood samples were collected from Boer goats in the ROK. All these goats did not exhibit any clinical signs. Thirtyone (4.7%) samples were identified to be positive for BVDV infection by RT-PCR. Phylogenetic analysis based on the 5'- untranslated region revealed that 27 samples and 1 sample were classified into BVDV1b and BVDV-2a, respectively. BVDV-1b isolates identified in goats exhibited genetic variation. This may have occurred under the following scenarios: interspecies transmission, pre-adaptation in goat, and goat-to-goat transmission. To our knowledge, this is the first report of BVDV-1b infection in goats in the ROK. The results have important implications for goat production. These results suggest that goats may act as virus reservoir hosts for BVDV infection. The information highlights the importance for the control and prevention of BVDV infection in goats. | Ryu, Ji-Hyoung; Shin, Seung-Uk; Chae, Joon-Seok; Choi, Kyoung-Seong | Kyungpook Natl Univ, Coll Ecol & Environm Sci, Dept Anim Sci & Biotechnol, Sangju 37224, South Korea; Seoul Natl Univ, PLUS Program Creat Vet Sci Res BK12, Res Inst Vet Sci, Lab Vet Internal Med, Seoul 08826, South Korea; Seoul Natl Univ, Coll Vet Med, Seoul 08826, South Korea | kschoi3@knu.ac.kr; | INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF APPLIED RESEARCH IN VETERINARY MEDICINE | INT J APPL RES VET M | 1542-2666 | 1559-470X | 18 | 2 | SCIE | VETERINARY SCIENCES | 2020 | 0.306 | 94.9 | 0 | bovine viral diarrhea virus; goats; BVDV-1b; genetic variation | IDENTIFICATION; CATTLE; TYPE-2 | English | 2020 | 2020 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | ||||||||||||
| ○ | ○ | Article | Approximate adder design with simplified lower-part approximation | This letter presents a novel approximate adder that reduces energy and power consumption by leveraging a simplified lower-part approximation. The proposed scheme reduces hardware costs while providing an acceptable accuracy performance. Implemented in a 32-nm CMOS technology, the proposed adder achieves area and power reductions of 67% and 91%, respectively, compare to a conventional adder. In terms of energy, it improves the power-delay and energy-delay products by 13.1% and 17.0%, respectively, compared to the other approximate adders considered herein. In addition, when adopted in a digital image processing application, the proposed adder shows a very promising output quality compared to that produced by an exact adder while providing excellent energy efficiency. | Lee, Jungwon; Seo, Hyoju; Kim, Yerin; Kim, Yongtae | Kyungpook Natl Univ, Sch Comp Sci & Engn, Daegu 41566, South Korea | Seo, Hyoju/GSD-8672-2022 | 57219710729; 57215662369; 57219716358; 55699627900 | yongtae@knu.ac.kr; | IEICE ELECTRONICS EXPRESS | IEICE ELECTRON EXPR | 1349-2543 | 17 | 15 | SCIE | ENGINEERING, ELECTRICAL & ELECTRONIC | 2020 | 0.578 | 95.1 | 0.88 | 2025-06-25 | 11 | 17 | approximate adder; error tolerant adder; energy efficiency | POWER; ACCURACY | Approximate adder; Energy efficiency; Error tolerant adder | Energy efficiency; Image processing; Adder design; CMOS technology; Digital image; Energy delay product; Hardware cost; Output quality; Power delays; Power reductions; Adders | English | 2020 | 2020-08-10 | 10.1587/elex.17.20200218 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | ||
| ○ | ○ | Article | Animal spirits in an open economy: an interaction-based approach to the business cycle | This paper examines the effects of boundedly rational expectation on the business cycle in a two-country New Keynesian model. Forecast heuristics in a closed-economy, De Grauwe's (2011) model, is extended, and the effects of heterogeneous agents are incorporated in an open economy. In particular, the expectation formation process is constrained by waves of optimists and pessimists - the so-called "animal spirits." As a result, the model is able to explain group behavior based on forecast performance, which has significant effects on output and inflation dynamics in the two countries. The simulation results suggest that heterogeneity in group behavior and nominal rigidities, as well as a moderate degree of international trade, amplify spillover effects on international business cycles leading to high cross-correlations in output and inflation. | Jang, Tae-Seok | Kyungpook Natl Univ, Sch Econ & Trade, 80 Daehak Ro, Daegu, South Korea | Jang, Tae-Seok/AFP-9841-2022 | 55951739600 | taeseok.jang@gmail.com; | B E JOURNAL OF MACROECONOMICS | BE J MACROECON | 1935-1690 | 20 | 1 | SSCI | ECONOMICS | 2020 | 0.5 | 95.4 | 0.06 | 2025-06-25 | 1 | 1 | animal spirits; business cycle; boundedly rational; New Keynesian; two-country | OPTIMAL MONETARY-POLICY; INFLATION DYNAMICS; SHOCKS; MODEL; BEHAVIOR | animal spirits; boundedly rational; business cycle; New Keynesian; two-country | English | 2020 | 2020-01 | 10.1515/bejm-2016-0141 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | |||
| ○ | ○ | Review | Patients' and Nurses' Perceptions of What Constitutes Good Nursing Care: An Integrative Review | Background: Differences between patients' and nurses' perceptions of good nursing might be one of the barriers to optimal nursing care that matches the preferences of patients. A better understanding of the attributes of Good Nursing Care across different settings, circumstances, and patient populations will provide an integrated idea about Good Nursing Care, which can contribute to nursing theory development and future research. Purpose: This study aimed to integrate the literature on patients' and nurses' perceptions of what constitutes Good Nursing Care and thereby identify the similarities and differences in patients' and nurses' perceptions of Good Nursing Care. Methods: A literature search of PubMed, CINAHL, and MEDLINE was conducted for article published between January 2000 and June 2017. A total of 18 studies were identified and assessed using the Mixed Method Appraisal Tool. The studies were analyzed and synthesized using Swanson's theory of caring as the theoretical framework. Results: Some dissents and agreements were found between patients and nurses regarding the crucial attributes of Good Nursing Care. While "enabling," such as providing information, coaching, and guidance, was more emphasized by patients, "being with" (being present at the bedside) was more emphasized by nurses. "Doing for," especially expert performance and enhancing physical comfort, was the most frequently mentioned attribute of Good Nursing Care by both patients and nurses. Implications for Practice: Theoretical developments regarding Good Nursing Care-characterized by a balance between sufficient nursing knowledge and competent technical skills on one hand and patient empowerment based on trusting relationships on the other hand-would promote the provision of Good Nursing Care in clinical practice. | Lee, Kyungmi; Kim, Su Hyun | Kyungpook Natl Univ, Coll Nursing, Daegu, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Coll Nursing, Res Inst Nursing Sci, Daegu, South Korea | kim, su/AAK-6271-2021 | 57216216249; 56664542600 | suhyun_kim@knu.ac.kr; | RESEARCH AND THEORY FOR NURSING PRACTICE | RES THEOR NURS PRACT | 1541-6577 | 1945-7286 | 34 | 2 | SCIE;SSCI | NURSING | 2020 | 0.688 | 95.5 | 0.17 | 2025-06-25 | 3 | 3 | nursing care; character; perception; patient preference | MIDDLE-RANGE THEORY; CARING BEHAVIORS; OLDER PATIENTS; QUALITY | character; nursing care; patient preference; perception | Adult; Aged; Aged, 80 and over; Clinical Competence; Female; Guidelines as Topic; Humans; Male; Middle Aged; Nursing Care; Nursing Staff, Hospital; Patient Satisfaction; Quality of Health Care; adult; article; care behavior; Cinahl; clinical practice; comfort; conceptual framework; empowerment; female; human; male; Medline; nurse; nursing care; nursing knowledge; patient preference; perception; skill; systematic review; theoretical study; aged; clinical competence; health care quality; middle aged; nursing care; nursing staff; patient satisfaction; practice guideline; psychology; very elderly | English | 2020 | 2020 | 10.1891/rtnp-d-19-00070 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | |

| ○ | ○ | Article | Structural relationship among environment, motivation, engagement and transfer of training of teachers in distance education | This study investigates the structural relationship among motivation, environment, engagement and transfer of training of teachers in distance education. There were 1,437 survey responses from primary and secondary school teachers in South Korea, and structural equation modeling was used to analyze the data. The findings underline that learning engagement in distance education had a significant mediating effect on the relationship between task value, self-efficacy, contextual factors and transfer of training. Also, contextual factors of distance education had significant direct effects on learning engagement and transfer of training. These findings suggest implications for the motivational and contextual factors when designing and developing effective instructional and learning strategies in distance education for teachers. | Kim, Hye-Sook; Yu, Shin-Bok | Gyeongsan Si, 201 Daegudae Ro, Gyongsan 38453, Gyeongsangbuk D, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Daegu, South Korea | 55986526400; 57221615069 | khs1@daegu.ac.kr; | KEDI JOURNAL OF EDUCATIONAL POLICY | KEDI J EDUC POLICY | 1739-4341 | 17 | 2 | SSCI | EDUCATION & EDUCATIONAL RESEARCH | 2020 | 0.552 | 96.0 | 0 | 2025-06-25 | 2 | 2 | distance education; teacher training; learning engagement; transfer of training; structural equation model | SELF-EFFICACY | Distance education; Learning engagement; Structural equation model; Teacher training; Transfer of training | English | 2020 | 2020 | 10.22804/kjep.2020.17.2.004 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | ||||
| ○ | ○ | Article | A Novel Approach to Disentangle Carbon Nanotubes Using Viscous Sugar Syrup | The disentanglement of multi-walled carbon nanotube (MWNT) bundles by using a sticky sugar syrup was explored for the first time. The syrup was prepared by mixing sucrose, glucose, fructose, and distilled water in a 1:1:1:0.8 weight ratio. A disk-type mixer suitable for high-viscosity materials was built to mix this syrup with MWNTs. To find out the optimum mixing conditions for effective disentanglement of MWNTs, the content ratio of MWNTs to sugar syrup was varied at each mixing step. Digital image processing technique was used with optical micrographs to quantitatively estimate the dispersion of nanotubes in sugar syrups. This revealed that the most homogeneous dispersion of MWNTs in the sugar syrup was achieved by gradually adding the syrup at each mixing step rather than all at once at the initial mixing step. The dynamic viscosity (eta') of the mixtures was measured to evaluate the overall dispersion state of MWNTs. The incorporation of MWNTs increased the eta' of sugar syrup, exhibiting a decreased eta' with an increase in the degree of dispersion. To validate this novel dispersion method for polymer composites, disentangled MWNTs were transferred into poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) and polyacrylonitrile (PAN); they exhibited uniform dispersion in each polymer matrix, without reagglomeration occurred. | Chae, Dong Wook; Hawkins, Stephen C.; Huynh, Chi P.; Eom, Youngho; Han, Youkyung; Shin, Bong-Seob; Jeon, Jong-Young | Kyungpook Natl Univ, Dept Text Engn, Sangju 37224, South Korea; Queens Univ Belfast, Sch Mech & Aerosp Engn, Belfast BT9 5AH, Antrim, North Ireland; Lintec Amer INC Inc, R&D Div, Nanosci & Technol Ctr, Richardson, TX 75081 USA; Pukyong Natl Univ, Dept Polymer Engn, Busan 48513, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Sch Convergence & Fus Syst Engn, Sangju 37224, South Korea | Eom, Youngho/U-6387-2019 | 7006246752; 35305079000; 26643905400; 56108103900; 55457676600; 57201584181; 7202411303 | dwchae@knu.ac.kr; | POLYMER-KOREA | POLYM-KOREA | 0379-153X | 2234-8077 | 44 | 4 | SCIE | POLYMER SCIENCE | 2020 | 0.493 | 96.1 | 0 | 2025-06-25 | 0 | 0 | sugar syrup; disentanglement; multi-walled carbon nanotube; dynamic viscosity; composite | MECHANICAL-PROPERTIES; COMPOSITES; DISPERSION; NANOCOMPOSITES | Composite; Disentanglement; Dynamic viscosity; Multi-walled carbon nanotube; Sugar syrup | English | 2020 | 2020-07 | 10.7317/pk.2020.44.4.512 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | ||
| ○ | ○ | Article | Characterization of Chitosan-Poly(ε-caprolactone) Hybrid Nanofiber Sheets Containing Insulin for Wound Dressings | The construct for wound dressings should be designed to promote the regeneration of the epidermal and dermal layers while ensuring biocompatibility and physical strength with protecting the wound from external infectious bacteria. In this study, nanofibrous sheet type wound dressings were prepared by electrospinning of a mixture of chitosan, poly(epsilon-caprolactone) (PCL) and insulin. The nanofiber sheets according to the mixing ratio were analyzed for physicochemical properties through structural analysis, elemental composition, tensile test, biodegradability, drug release behavior, antibacterial activity, cell proliferation behavior, and wound healing ability via in vivo animal testing. As the content of chitosan increased, the elongation of the nanofiber sheets decreased, and the biodegradability, drug release ability, and antibacterial activity tended to increase. In animal experiments and histological analysis, the accelerated wound healing rate of the chitosan-PCL-insulin nanofibrous sheet was verified when compared to other nanofiber sheets, and thus it is expected to be used as a wound dressing material. | Jun, Ga Young; Ko, Young-Gwang; Kim, Dongjin; Kwon, Oh Kyoung; Kim, Won Il; Chung, Ho Yun; Kwon, Oh Hyeong | Kumoh Natl Inst Technol, Dept Polymer Sci & Engn, Gumi 39177, Gyeongbuk, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Chilgok Hosp, Gastr Canc Ctr, Daegu 41404, South Korea; Wonbiogen Co Ltd, R&D Ctr, Gumi 39372, Gyeongbuk, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Dept Plast & Reconstruct Surg, CMRI, Sch Med, Daegu 41944, South Korea | 35327176500; 35812149900; 57222624141; 26536109900; 59062885800; 7404007181; 55665582200 | ohkwon@kumoh.ac.kr; | POLYMER-KOREA | POLYM-KOREA | 0379-153X | 2234-8077 | 44 | 4 | SCIE | POLYMER SCIENCE | 2020 | 0.493 | 96.1 | 0.15 | 2025-06-25 | 2 | 2 | chitosan; poly(epsilon-caprolactone); insulin; nanofiber; wound dressing | PHOTOCROSSLINKABLE CHITOSAN; SKIN; OCCLUSION; SCAFFOLDS; MATRIX; CHITIN; CELL | Chitosan; Insulin; Nanofiber; Poly(e-caprolactone); Wound dressing | Korean | 2020 | 2020-07 | 10.7317/pk.2020.44.4.549 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | |||
| ○ | ○ | Article | Compatibility and Impact Properties of Poly(lactic acid)/Poly(butylene adipate-co-terephthalate) Blend Using Poly(butyl acrylate) | Poly(lactic acid) (PLA) is a biodegradable polymer, which has been increased in usage due to strengthening environmental policy and increased interest in sustainable plastics. However, it has inherent shortcomings such as brittleness, low melt strength, heat resistance, and impact resistance, which limited widespread applications for requiring mechanical properties. In this study, to improve the compatibility and impact resistance of the PLA, the poly(butyl acrylate) (PBA) was introduced into the PLA/poly(butylene adipate-co-terephthalate) (PBAT) blends. In addition, the thermal, dynamic viscoelastic, morphological, mechanical and impact strength characteristics of the composite were analyzed. As a result, it was demonstrated that the impact strength was increased up to 2.2 times because PBA acted as a compatibilizer for PLA/PBAT blends and formed the co-continuous morphology. Therefore, we confirmed the applicability of sustainable plastics through improving the impact strength of PLA-based biodegradable materials. | Lee, Jae Bin; Kim, Do Young; Nam, KiBeom; Seo, Kwan Ho; Lee, Dong Yun | Kyungpook Natl Univ, Dept Polymer Sci & Engn, Daegu 41566, South Korea | , Do Young Kim/AAB-1459-2021; Lee, Joonseok/AAP-6003-2021 | 57218880937; 56802861000; 57210467782; 7201838965; 57211001605 | khseo@knu.ac.kr;dongyunlee@knu.ac.kr; | POLYMER-KOREA | POLYM-KOREA | 0379-153X | 2234-8077 | 44 | 5 | SCIE | POLYMER SCIENCE | 2020 | 0.493 | 96.1 | 0.07 | 2025-06-25 | 6 | 6 | poly(lactic acid); poly(butylene adipate-co-terephthalate); poly(butyl acrylate); compatibility; impact strength | MECHANICAL-PROPERTIES; MORPHOLOGY; PLA/PBAT; GMA | Compatibility; Impact strength; Poly(butyl acrylate); Poly(butylene adipate-co-terephthalate); Poly(lactic acid) | Korean | 2020 | 2020-09 | 10.7317/pk.2020.44.5.689 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | ||
| ○ | ○ | Article | Preparation of Polyolefin/2D-nanosheet Nanocomposites via Reactor Mixing; Poly(ethylene-co-propylene)/rGO Composites | Ethylene-propylene copolymer (EP)/modified reduced graphene oxide (rGO) composites were fabricated via reactor mixing method under mild conditions using Et(Ind)(2)ZrCl2 activated with methylauminoxane (MAO). Microstructure, mechanical and thermal properties of composites are presented. The rGO nanosheets were homogeneously dispersed in EP matrix and the interfacial adhesion with EP was excellent by the modifying the rGO. Although the thermal stability of the aforementioned composites was relatively unchanged when compared to copolymer, significant enhancements in the mechanical properties were observed (e.g., up to 40% increase in the tensile strength and 50% increase Young's modulus for composites containing 5.0 wt% rGO). Thus, this reactor mixing provides a method for production of high performance polyolefins. | Moon, Young Kown; Lee, Dong Eun; Yoon, Keun-Byoung | Kungpook Natl Univ, Dept Polymer Sci & Engn, Daegu 41566, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Sch Architecture & Civil & Architectural Engn, Daegu 41566, South Korea | 57222622443; 56605563300; 7401607550 | dolee@knu.ac.kr;kbyoon@knu.ac.kr; | POLYMER-KOREA | POLYM-KOREA | 0379-153X | 2234-8077 | 44 | 5 | SCIE | POLYMER SCIENCE | 2020 | 0.493 | 96.1 | 0.07 | 2025-06-25 | 1 | 1 | reactor mixing; reduced graphene oxide; polyolefin; ethylene-propylene copolymer | REDUCED GRAPHENE OXIDE; POLYETHYLENE/GRAPHENE NANOCOMPOSITES; CRYSTALLIZATION; POLYMERIZATION; FABRICATION | Ethylene-propylene copolymer; Polyolefin; Reactor mixing; Reduced graphene oxide | Korean | 2020 | 2020-09 | 10.7317/pk.2020.44.5.652 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | |||
| ○ | Article | Preparation of polyolefin/2D-nanosheet Nanocomposites via reactor mixing; Polyethylene composites using masterbatch | Polyethylene/modified 2D-nanosheets composites were fabricated via the masterbatch technique which was synthesized by reactor mixing under mild conditions using (n-BuCp)2ZrCl2/methylaluminoxane (MAO) catalyst. The 2D-nanosheets were modified with octadecylamine (ODA) for enhancement of dispersion and interaction with the polymer matrix. Microstructure, thermal and mechanical properties of composites were examined. The modified 2D-nanosheets were homogeneously dispersed across the composites and showed good interfacial adhesion between the modified 2D-nanosheets and polyethylene matrix. The thermal stabilities and mechanical properties of composites were significantly enhanced (e.g., up to 15% increase in tensile strength and 100% increase in Young's modulus for composites containing 5 wt% 2D-nanosheets). Thus, the masterbatch technique was able to produce high-performance polyolefins. © 2020 The Polymer Society of Korea.
