| ○ | ○ | Article | Particulate Matters Induce Apoptosis in Human Hair Follicular Keratinocytes | Background: Particulate matters (PM) comprise a heterogeneous mixture of particles suspended in air. A recent study found that urban PMs may penetrate into hair follicles via transfollicular and transdermal routes in dorsal skin. Objective: To investigate the effects of PM on ex vivo cultured human scalp hair follicles and hair follicular keratinocytes in vitro. Methods: TUNEL staining was employed to check cells undergoing apoptosis in cultured hair follicles after PM treatment. MTT assay was employed to check cell viability after PM treatment. Quantitative real-time PCR analysis was employed to quantitate the expression of inflammatory genes, matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs), and Duox1. Inflammatory cytokine levels were measured by ELISA after PM treatment. The level of reactive oxygen species (ROS) production was measured using a chemical fluorescent probe by a fluorescence plate reader. Results: Abundant TUNEL-positive cells were observed in the keratinocyte region of hair including the epidermis, sebaceous gland, outer root sheath (ORS), inner root sheath (IRS), and bulb region. The viability of follicular cells, including the ORS, was found to be decreased upon PM exposure. mRNA expression and protein levels of inflammatory response genes and MMPs were upregulated in a dose-dependent manner by PM treatment. ROS levels were also increased by PM. Conclusion: These data strongly suggest that penetrated PMs from air pollution may cause apoptotic cell death to follicular keratinocytes by increased production of ROS and inflammatory cytokines, which could impair hair growth. | Jun, Mee Sook; Kwack, Mi Hee; Kim, Moon Kyu; Kim, Jung Chul; Sung, Young Kwan | Kyungpook Natl Univ, Sch Med, Dept Immunol, 680 Gukchaebosang Ro, Daegu 41944, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ Hosp, Hair Transplantat Ctr, Daegu, South Korea | 7006544857; 6507685557; 57199748390; 57207436677; 55663365300 | ysung@knu.ac.kr; | ANNALS OF DERMATOLOGY | ANN DERMATOL | 1013-9087 | 2005-3894 | 32 | 5 | SCIE | DERMATOLOGY | 2020 | 1.444 | 86.2 | 0.66 | 2025-06-25 | 13 | 13 | Apoptosis; Hair keratinocyte; Hair loss; Particulate matter; Reactive oxygen species | POLLUTION; IMPACT; SKIN | Apoptosis; Hair keratinocyte; Hair loss; Particulate matter; Reactive oxygen species | duox1 protein; fluorescent dye; interleukin 1alpha; interleukin 1beta; interleukin 6; interleukin 8; interstitial collagenase; messenger RNA; reactive oxygen metabolite; reduced nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate oxidase; stromelysin; tumor necrosis factor; unclassified drug; apoptosis; Article; cell mediated cytotoxicity; cell viability; controlled study; enzyme linked immunosorbent assay; epidermis; ex vivo study; fluorescence microscopy; gene expression; hair follicle cell; hair root; human; human cell; human tissue; in vitro study; inner root sheath; keratinocyte; MTT assay; outer root sheath; PM10 exposure; real time polymerase chain reaction; sebaceous gland; TUNEL assay; upregulation | English | 2020 | 2020-10 | 10.5021/ad.2020.32.5.388 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | ||
| ○ | Article | A Novel Fingerprint Localization Algorithm Based on Modified Channel State Information Using Kalman Filter | With the increasing demand for location-based services, indoor fingerprinting localization based on received signal strength indicator or channel state information (CSI) has become an increasingly important technique due to its low hardware requirement and high accuracy. Due to robustness against the multipath effect, frequency domain CSI of orthogonal frequency division multiplexing systems is supposed to provide an excellent positioning measurement for indoor localization. In this paper, we propose a novel fingerprint localization method based on modified CSI using the Kalman Filter. For the offline stage, we use modified CSI to build a fingerprint database. In the online stage, we employ the K-nearest neighbor method for location estimation. The proposed indoor fingerprint localization scheme is implemented and validated with experiments in a representative indoor environment with commercial IEEE 802.11 NICs. Compared with existing methods, the experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method can effectively reduce positioning error. © 2020, The Korean Institute of Electrical Engineers. | Wang, Jingjing; Park, Joon Goo | Kyungpook National University Electronics Engineering, Daegu, South Korea; Kyungpook National University Electronics Engineering, Daegu, South Korea | 57202161515; 24329712800 | jgpark@knu.ac.kr; | Journal of Electrical Engineering and Technology | J ELECTR ENG TECHNOL | 1975-0102 | 2093-7423 | 15 | 4 | SCIE | ENGINEERING, ELECTRICAL & ELECTRONIC | 2020 | 1.069 | 86.3 | 0.59 | 2025-06-25 | 11 | Channel state information; Indoor fingerprint localization; K-nearest neighbor; Kalman filtering | Frequency domain analysis; IEEE Standards; Indoor positioning systems; Kalman filters; Location based services; Mobile computing; Multiplexing equipment; Nearest neighbor search; Telecommunication services; Fingerprint database; Indoor localization; K-nearest neighbor method; Localization algorithm; Localization method; Localization schemes; Orthogonal frequency division multiplexing systems; Received signal strength indicators; Channel state information | English | Final | 2020 | 10.1007/s42835-020-00441-6 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | |||||||
| ○ | ○ | Article | A Study on Electrical Characteristics of Outdoor Termination with Viscosity of Insulating Oil | Outdoor terminations connecting overhead transmission lines and power cables comprise a stress relief cone, which is made of silicone rubber, and insulating oil in a composite or porcelain insulator. The lower the insulating oil viscosity, the greater is its ease of injection. However, the swelling and the degree of change in the electrical properties of the silicone rubber increase with a decrease in the insulating oil viscosity. Therefore, the effect of the expected change in the electrical properties of the silicone rubber on the outdoor termination quality should be examined before choosing the insulating oil. In this study, specimens made of insulating and semiconducting silicone rubber were made to swell by impregnating them with three types of insulating oils with different viscosities. The AC breakdown strength of the swollen insulating specimens and the volume resistivity and relative permittivity of the semiconducting specimens were measured. The Weibull statistical analysis showed that the lower the insulating oil viscosity, the lower was the AC breakdown strength in overlapping confidence intervals. The volume resistivity and relative permittivity of the semiconducting specimens changed considerably with a change in the viscosity of the insulating oil. In particular, the volume resistivity of the specimen impregnated with the lowest viscosity insulating oil was 1.57 x 10(6) omega m, indicating loss of semiconducting properties. Furthermore, the effect of changes in the electrical characteristics of the specimens on the outdoor termination quality was examined by performing an electric field analysis. Compared with the other oils, impregnation with the lowest viscosity insulating oil resulted in the electric field strength at the edge of the outer semiconducting layer increasing by 15.7%. | Choe, Jin-Wook; Nam, Seok-Hyun; Kim, Jin-Gyu | Kyungpook Natl Univ, Dept Elect Engn, Daegu, South Korea; LS Cable & Syst Ltd, Prod & Solut Res Ctr, Energy R&D Team, Gumi, South Korea | 57211005577; 57211000780; 54680957000 | cjw2489@lscns.com;kjg@knu.ac.kr; | JOURNAL OF ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING & TECHNOLOGY | J ELECTR ENG TECHNOL | 1975-0102 | 2093-7423 | 15 | 3 | SCIE | ENGINEERING, ELECTRICAL & ELECTRONIC | 2020 | 1.069 | 86.3 | 0.07 | 2025-06-25 | 0 | 2 | Outdoor termination; Swelling; Silicone rubber; Stress relief cone; Volume resistance | Outdoor termination; Silicone rubber; Stress relief cone; Swelling; Volume resistance | Electric breakdown; Oil filled transformers; Permittivity; Porcelain; Quality control; Rubber; Silicone rubber; Silicones; Stress relief; Viscosity; Electric field analysis; Electric field strength; Electrical characteristic; Outer semiconducting layers; Overhead transmission lines; Semi-conducting property; Semiconducting silicone rubbers; Weibull statistical analysis; Insulation | English | 2020 | 2020-05 | 10.1007/s42835-020-00425-6 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | |||
| ○ | ○ | Article | Detection and Analysis of Electromechanical Oscillation in Power Systems with Low-Sampled Data Using Modal Analysis Methods | Purpose Electromechanical oscillations between interconnected generators are considered a major threat to the secure operation of power systems. Therefore, oscillation monitoring systems in real-time are of critical importance to detect the danger of poorly damped oscillations. For the detection and analysis of the oscillations, high-temporal-resolution measurements are required according to the Nyquist theorem. This paper proposes a novel algorithm for the identification of electromechanical oscillations using low-sampled data such as supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) measurements. Methods The lack of temporal resolution of the data is compensated by using low-sampled data sets at multiple different locations. At a target location, a high-sampled data-signal can be reconstructed using mode shape information obtained from model-based modal analysis. The variable projection method is then used to detect oscillations and estimate oscillation components including frequency and damping ratio. Results Case studies based on practical Korean power systems are presented to evaluate the performance of the proposed method. Simulation results show that the proposed method can detect and identify electromechanical oscillations with low-sampled data. | Baek, Jong-Oh; Kim, Soobae | Kyungpook Natl Univ, Dept Elect Engn, Daegu, South Korea | 57210994751; 55377374400 | hotehtkfkd1@knu.ac.kr;soobae.kim@knu.ac.kr; | JOURNAL OF ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING & TECHNOLOGY | J ELECTR ENG TECHNOL | 1975-0102 | 2093-7423 | 15 | 5 | SCIE | ENGINEERING, ELECTRICAL & ELECTRONIC | 2020 | 1.069 | 86.3 | 0.07 | 2025-06-25 | 2 | 1 | Electromechanical oscillations; Detection and analysis of oscillations; Low-sampled data; Model-based modal analysis; Variable projection method; Korean power systems | VARIABLE PROJECTION METHOD; NONLINEAR LEAST-SQUARES | Detection and analysis of oscillations; Electromechanical oscillations; Korean power systems; Low-sampled data; Model-based modal analysis; Variable projection method | Circuit oscillations; Data acquisition; Electric power systems; Modal analysis; Electromechanical oscilla-tions; High temporal resolution measurement; Korean power systems; Monitoring system; Operation of power system; Supervisory control and data acquisition; Temporal resolution; Variable projection methods; Real time systems | English | 2020 | 2020-09 | 10.1007/s42835-020-00471-0 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | ||
| ○ | ○ | Article | Numerical Analysis of Surface and Internal Discharge Phenomena at the Interface of Hetero-Dielectric Composites Based on the Migration-Migration Model | Nanocomposites have been actively studied for understanding the superior electrical characteristics and for utilizing in the electric devices of HVDC systems. Nanocomposites in electrical devices are not used unilaterally, but rather as the hetero-dielectric composites, which form an interface with other insulators. In this study, the hetero-dielectric composites comprised of nanocomposites and transformer oil were analyzed using the migration-migration model incorporating the finite element method. Until now, hetero-dielectric composites have been usually studied by using the Migration-Ohmic model, where the specific space charge behavior cannot be analyzed. Although interface conditions are significant for the transport and local accumulation of charge, the BCT models, including conditions for interface with other insulators, have not been reported. To investigate the space charge behavior of the hetero-dielectric composites, charge carriers of positive, negative ions and electrons are considered in the liquid region and electrons and holes in the nanocomposites. These hetero-dielectric composites are applied to the needle-bar electrode system to analyze the surface discharge phenomena at the interface. The BCT model was applied to the nanocomposites, and the drift dominated charge continuity model was applied to the transformer oil. These numerical results were compared with those from the previous research works validated with the experimental results. We analyzed the propagation of the streamer with an equivalent parallel current circuit and adopted the effective mobility of the electrons according to the field strength to improve the applicability of the numerical analysis model. | Kim, Minhee; Kim, Su-Hun; Lee, Se-Hee | Kyungpook Natl Univ, Dept Elect Engn, Daegu, South Korea | Kim, Su-Hun/AAB-5569-2020; Kim, Minhee/LRT-2058-2024 | 57214228950; 57188669953; 55009905600 | shlees@knu.ac.kr; | JOURNAL OF ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING & TECHNOLOGY | J ELECTR ENG TECHNOL | 1975-0102 | 2093-7423 | 15 | 2 | SCIE | ENGINEERING, ELECTRICAL & ELECTRONIC | 2020 | 1.069 | 86.3 | 0.07 | 2025-06-25 | 2 | 1 | BCT model; Migration-migration model; Nanocomposites; Surface discharge | BCT model; Migration–migration model; Nanocomposites; Surface discharge | Electrooptical effects; Nanocomposites; Negative ions; Numerical analysis; Oil filled transformers; Surface discharges; Dielectric composites; Discharge phenomena; Effective mobilities; Electrical characteristic; Electrons and holes; Interface conditions; Migration model; Numerical analysis models; Electric discharges | English | 2020 | 2020-03 | 10.1007/s42835-020-00348-2 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | ||

| ○ | ○ | Article | A compact four-port UWB MIMO antenna with connected ground and wide axial ratio bandwidth | A new design method of an ultra-wideband circularly-polarized planar multiple-input-multiple-output (MIMO) antenna is presented in this paper. The proposed MIMO antenna consists of four unit cell antennas, being comprised of a microstrip feed line and a square slotted ground plane. In the proposed unit cell design, a circular stub is protruded from the ground plane strip for achieving circular polarization. The unit cell of the MIMO antenna is optimized by adjusting design parameters. The compact four-port MIMO antenna prototype is designed on the FR4 substrate with the overall dimensions of 45 x 45 x 1.6 mm(3). The proposed four-port MIMO antenna design provides an impedance bandwidth (S-11 < -10 dB) of 112% (3.1-11 GHz) and a 3 dB axial ratio bandwidth of 36% (4.8-6.9 GHz). The performance of the fabricated MIMO antenna shows good agreement between the EM simulation and measurement results. | Kumar, Sachin; Lee, Gwan Hui; Kim, Dong Hwi; Mohyuddin, Wahab; Choi, Hyun Chul; Kim, Kang Wook | Kyungpook Natl Univ, Sch Elect Engn, Daegu 41566, South Korea | Mohyuddin, Wahab/ABE-4183-2021; Kumar, Sachin/W-2211-2019 | 56907994000; 57201689364; 56975581300; 56179736900; 57193342681; 57204432422 | kang_kim@ee.knu.ac.kr; | INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF MICROWAVE AND WIRELESS TECHNOLOGIES | INT J MICROW WIREL T | 1759-0787 | 1759-0795 | 12 | 1 | SCIE | ENGINEERING, ELECTRICAL & ELECTRONIC;TELECOMMUNICATIONS | 2020 | 1.064 | 86.6 | 2.38 | 2025-06-25 | 32 | 41 | Circularly-polarized; compact; isolation; MIMO; UWB | CIRCULARLY-POLARIZED ANTENNA; DIVERSITY PERFORMANCE; ENHANCED ISOLATION; MONOPOLE ANTENNA; BAND; SYSTEM; INPUT; CSRR | Circularly-polarized; compact; isolation; MIMO; UWB | Antenna feeders; Antenna grounds; Bandwidth; Circular polarization; Electric impedance; Microwave antennas; MIMO systems; Slot antennas; Axial ratio bandwidth; Circularly polarized; compact; Impedance bandwidths; isolation; Microstrip feedline; Multiple input multiple output antennas; Slotted ground plane; Ultra-wideband (UWB) | English | 2020 | 2020-02 | 10.1017/s1759078719000874 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | |
| ○ | ○ | Article | Anti-tumor Properties of Picrasma quassioides Extracts in H-RasG12V Liver Cancer Are Mediated Through ROS-dependent Mitochondrial Dysfunction | Background: Picrasma quassioides (PQ) is a traditional Asian herbal medicine with anti-tumor properties that can inhibit the viability of HepG2 liver cancer cells. H-Ras is often mutated in liver cancer, however, the effect of PQ treatment on H-Ras mutated liver cancer is unclear. This study aimed to investigate the role of PQ on ROS accumulation and mitochondrial dysfunction in H-ras mutated HepG2 (HepG2(G12V)) cells. Materials and Methods: PQ ethanol extract-induced HepG2(G12V) apoptosis was analyzed by the MTT assay, fluorescence microscopy, flow cytometry and western blotting. Results: PQ treatment affected cell migration and colony formation in HepG2(G12V) cells. Cleaved-caspase-3, cleaved-caspase-9 and BCL2 associated agonist of cell death (BAD) expression levels were increased, while the levels of B-cell lymphoma-extra large (Bcl-xL) were decreased with PQ treatment. PQ treatment led to a reduction of H-Ras expression levels in liver cancer cells, thus reducing their abnormal proliferation. Furthermore, it led to increased expression levels of Peroxiredoxin VI, which regulates the redox signal in cells. Conclusion: Taken together these results provide a new functional significance for the role of PQ in treating HepG2(G12V) liver cancer. | Xie, Dan-Ping; Gong, Yi-Xi; Jin, Ying-Hua; Ren, Chen-Xi; Liu, Yue; Han, Ying-Hao; Jin, Mei-Hua; Zhu, Dan; Pan, Qiu-Zhen; Yu, Li-Yun; Lee, Dong-Seok; Lee, Jaihyung; Kim, Jihwan; Park, Yang Ho; Hyun, Jin Won; Kwon, Taeho; Cui, Yu-Dong; Sun, Hu-Nan | Heilongjiang Bayi Agr Univ, Coll Life Sci & Biotechnol, Xinyanglu 163319, Daqing, Peoples R China; Heilongjiang Bayi Agr Univ, Lib & Informat Ctr, Daqing, Peoples R China; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Coll Nat Sci, KNU Ctr Nonlinear Dynam, Sch Life Sci,CMRI,BK21 Plus KNU Creat BioRes Grp, Daegu, South Korea; Haeam Convalescence Hosp, Gyeonggi, South Korea; 100 Years Oriental Med Clin, Seoul, South Korea; Pk Yang Ho BRM Inst, Seoul, South Korea; Jeju Natl Univ, Sch Med, Dept Biochem, Jeju, South Korea; Korea Res Inst Biosci & Biotechnol KRIBB, Primate Resources Ctr, 351-33 Neongme Gil, Jeongeup Si 56216, Jeonbuk, South Korea | Jin, Meihua/AAE-8526-2020; Kwon, Taeho/JLL-1095-2023 | 57209616350; 57209617864; 8610761600; 57217585371; 57208631142; 7404096642; 57740660100; 55459870900; 57217670432; 8604011000; 57210068061; 57217595872; 57217669991; 59063842600; 35233601800; 57202850676; 24342913900; 8603267900 | kwon@kribb.re.kr;cuiyudong@126.com;sunhunan76@163.com; | ANTICANCER RESEARCH | ANTICANCER RES | 0250-7005 | 1791-7530 | 40 | 7 | SCIE | ONCOLOGY | 2020 | 2.48 | 86.6 | 0.67 | 2025-06-25 | 14 | 13 | Liver cancer; mitochondria; ROS; Picrasma quassioides | INDUCED APOPTOSIS; H-RAS; CELLS; ACTIVATION; MUTATIONS; ALKALOIDS; PATHWAY | Liver cancer; Mitochondria; Picrasma quassioides; ROS | Antineoplastic Agents, Phytogenic; Apoptosis; Cell Movement; Genes, ras; Hep G2 Cells; Humans; Liver Neoplasms; Membrane Potential, Mitochondrial; Mitochondria, Liver; Picrasma; Plant Extracts; Proto-Oncogene Proteins p21(ras); Reactive Oxygen Species; antineoplastic agent; caspase 3; caspase 9; mitogen activated protein kinase; peroxiredoxin 6; Picrasma quassioides extract; plant extract; protein BAD; protein bcl 2; protein bcl xl; reactive oxygen metabolite; unclassified drug; antineoplastic agent; HRAS protein, human; plant extract; protein p21; reactive oxygen metabolite; antineoplastic activity; apoptosis; Article; cancer patient; cancer survival; cell migration; cell proliferation; cell survival rate; colony formation; controlled study; cytotoxicity; disorders of mitochondrial functions; flow cytometry; fluorescence microscopy; gene expression level; gene mutation; Hep-G2 cell line; human; human cell; human tissue; liver cell carcinoma; liver tissue; MAPK signaling; mitochondrial membrane potential; MTT assay; oncogene H ras; Picrasma; Picrasma quassioides; priority journal; protein cleavage; respiratory chain; signal transduction; Western blotting; biosynthesis; cell motion; chemistry; drug effect; genetics; liver mitochondrion; liver tumor; metabolism; oncogene ras; Picrasma | English | 2020 | 2020-07 | 10.21873/anticanres.14371 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | |
| ○ | ○ | Article | Comprehensive Analysis and Clinical Implication of PD-L1 Expression Considering HPV Status in Oropharyngeal Squamous Cell Carcinoma | Background/Aim: This study was conducted to comprehensively evaluate programmed cell death ligand 1 (PD-L1) expression, and analyze the clinical and prognostic implications of PD-L1 expression in oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC). Patients and Methods: We evaluated the expression of PD-L1 using the antibodies SP263 and SP142 in 106 patients with OPSCC, using immunohistochemistry. PD-L1 expression was subdivided into tumor cell score (TC), immune cell score (IC), and combined score (CS). Correlations between each PD-L1 expression and HPV status, clinicopathological features, and survival were analyzed. Results: The expression levels of PD-L1 SP263 and SP142 were significantly correlated. High PD-L1 SP263 TC and CS and SP142 IC and CS were associated with HPV positivity. PD-L1 expression showed no effect on survival in all patients' group. However, in the subgroup analysis, high TC and CS of both PD-L1 SP263 and SP142 were correlated with shorter time to recurrence in the HPV positive group. Conclusion: High expression of PD-L1 was associated with HPV positivity in OPSCC. In addition, high expression of PD-L1 might suggest a poorer outcome, especially in the HPV positive subgroup. PD-L1 could be a useful predictive and prognostic biomarker in OPSCC. | Jeong, Ji Yun; Park, Tae-In; Ahn, Dongbin | Kyungpook Natl Univ, Sch Med, Dept Pathol, Daegu, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Dept Pathol, Chilgok Hosp, Daegu, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Sch Med, Dept Otolaryngol Head & Neck Surg, Daegu, South Korea | 57205472984; 7401801814; 44761055400 | jyjeong@knu.ac.kr; | ANTICANCER RESEARCH | ANTICANCER RES | 0250-7005 | 1791-7530 | 40 | 7 | SCIE | ONCOLOGY | 2020 | 2.48 | 86.6 | 0.2 | 2025-06-25 | 8 | 7 | Programmed cell death ligand 1; human papillomavirus; oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma | PROGNOSTIC IMPACT; CANCER; PEMBROLIZUMAB; ASSOCIATION; BLOCKADE; HEAD | Human papillomavirus; Oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma; Programmed cell death ligand 1 | Adult; Aged; Aged, 80 and over; B7-H1 Antigen; Biomarkers; Female; Humans; Kaplan-Meier Estimate; Male; Middle Aged; Oropharyngeal Neoplasms; Papillomavirus Infections; Prognosis; Squamous Cell Carcinoma of Head and Neck; programmed death 1 ligand 1; protein antibody; sp142 antibody; sp263 antibody; unclassified drug; biological marker; CD274 protein, human; programmed death 1 ligand 1; adult; aged; Article; cancer prognosis; cancer recurrence; cancer survival; clinical feature; controlled study; female; human; human tissue; immunocompetent cell; immunohistochemistry; major clinical study; male; oropharynx squamous cell carcinoma; priority journal; protein expression; retrospective study; scoring system; tumor cell; Wart virus; Kaplan Meier method; metabolism; middle aged; oropharynx tumor; papillomavirus infection; prognosis; very elderly | English | 2020 | 2020-07 | 10.21873/anticanres.14394 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | ||
| ○ | ○ | Article | DESIGN OF NOVEL COMPACT DETECTOR BASED ON THE BISMUTH GERMANATE SCINTILLATOR AND SILICON PHOTOMULTIPLIER FOR ORTHO-POSITRONIUM PHYSICS | Positronium decay research is one of the sensitive probes to discover new physical phenomena. Because of the pairing system of electron (particle) and positron (antiparticle), we can study reactions which are forbidden by the Standard Model. In this study, we designed a novel compact detector for precise measurement of ortho-positronium (o-Ps) decay. Due to their compact size, silicon photomultipliers (SiPMs) are used for the photodetection in the detector. The SiPM is well-known as a photo-detector that can replace photomultiplier tube (PMT). In general, the size of the PMT is relatively large, so an SiPM was used to make compact trigger part for direct collection of scintillation light. In this research, the trigger part consists of plastic scintillator coupled directly to a single-channel SiPM to obtain the positron signal from the center of the detector. The trigger part is surrounded by the gamma-detection part to detect decay gammas in all directions. For dual readout, both sides of the Bismuth Germanate (BGO) scintillators are coupled with SiPMs. The designed frame and grid are used to support BGO scintillators and SiPMs. We obtained pretest data of a positron trigger signal and gamma-energy spectrum of Na-22 and Cs-137 radioactive sources for the novel compact detector. The detector will be used to study the C-parity violation, invisible, and rare decay search. | Park, HyeoungWoo; Jung, D. W.; Hwang, Sanghoon; Kim, H. | ○ | ○ | Article | Pattern and frequency reconfigurable antenna with diode loaded ELC resonator | In this work, a new compact, low profile, frequency, and end-fire pattern reconfigurable antenna is presented. The proposed antenna consists of four parasitic elements and an electric-inductive-capacitive (ELC) resonator enclosed with a closed ring resonator (CRR). The reconfigurability in the proposed antenna is achieved with the help of five PIN diodes (D1-D5) embedded on the top surface of the substrate. The diode (D1) is implanted between ELC and CRR resonators for frequency reconfigurability. The other four diodes (D2-D5) are implanted between the ground plane and four parasitic elements to control the electrical length of the ground plane to achieve pattern diversity. The ground plane and parasitic elements steer the primary omni-directional beam to bi-directional and uni-directional end-fire radiation at multiple frequencies. The proposed antenna exhibits multiband operation and end-fire pattern diversity depending upon the different states of PIN diodes. The overall size of the proposed antenna is 0.20 lambda(0) x 0.17 lambda(0) x 0.009 lambda(0), where lambda(0) is calculated at the lowest resonance frequency. The impedance bandwidth of the antenna ranges from 1.45 to 26.22%, while peak gain varies from 0.86 to 3.86 dBi depending upon the state of operation. The measured results are in agreement with the simulated results, which confirm the frequency and pattern diversity performance of the antenna. The proposed antenna can be used in back-to-back repeater systems. | Singh, Ghanshyam; Kanaujia, Binod K.; Pandey, Vijay K.; Gangwar, Deepak; Kumar, Sachin | Feroze Gandhi Inst Engn & Technol, Dept Elect & Commun Engn, Raebareli, India; Jawaharlal Nehru Univ, Sch Computat & Integrat Sci, New Delhi, India; Noida Inst Engn & Technol, Dept Elect & Commun Engn, Greater Noida, India; Bharati Vidyapeeths Coll Engn, Dept Elect & Commun Engn, New Delhi, India; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Sch Elect Engn, Daegu, South Korea | Kumar, Sachin/W-2211-2019; Kanaujia, Binod/L-6484-2019; Pandey, vijay k/KYO-9304-2024; Gangwar, Deepak/I-8876-2019; SINGH, Dr GHANSHYAM/AAN-6377-2020; kanaujia, Binod/L-6484-2019 | 57209819290; 56962785800; 59213310600; 55258945300; 56907994000 | bkkanaujia@ieee.org; | INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF MICROWAVE AND WIRELESS TECHNOLOGIES | INT J MICROW WIREL T | 1759-0787 | 1759-0795 | 12 | 2 | SCIE | ENGINEERING, ELECTRICAL & ELECTRONIC;TELECOMMUNICATIONS | 2020 | 1.064 | 86.6 | 0.89 | 2025-06-25 | 9 | 16 | Antenna; parasitic element; pattern diversity; reconfigurable | MICROSTRIP ANTENNA; PATCH ANTENNA | Antenna; parasitic element; pattern diversity; reconfigurable | Antenna grounds; Electric impedance; Omnidirectional antennas; Resonators; Semiconductor diodes; Electrical length; Frequency reconfigurable antenna; Impedance bandwidths; Multi-band operations; Multiple frequency; Parasitic element; Pattern diversity; Resonance frequencies; Directional patterns (antenna) | English | 2020 | 2020-03 | 10.1017/s1759078719001077 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | |
| ○ | ○ | Article | Prognostic Value of Hematological Parameters in Locally Advanced Cervical Cancer Patients Treated With Concurrent Chemoradiotherapy | Background/Aim: We evaluated the clinical implications of pre- and post-treatment hematological parameters as prognostic factors in patients with locally advanced cervical cancer (LACC) who received definitive concurrent chemoradiotherapy (CCRT). Patients and Methods: We retrospectively analyzed 125 patients with LACC (FIGO stage IIB to IIIB) who received definitive CCRT. Clinical factors and hematological parameters, including neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) were assessed pre- and post-CCRT. Univariate and multivariate analysis for disease-free survival (DFS) and overall survival (OS) were performed using clinicopathological and hematological parameters. Results: Disease recurred in 46 (36.8%) patients, and 24 patients (19.2%) died. On multivariate analysis, post-treatment NLR, Delta NLR (pre-treatment NLR/post-treatment NLR) and Delta PLR (platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio) (pre-treatment PLR/post-treatment PLR) were significant prognostic factors | Lee, Hyun Jung; Kim, Jong Mi; Chin, Yoo Jeong; Chong, Gun Oh; Park, Shin-Hyung; Lee, Yoon Hee; Hong, Dae Gy; Lee, Yoon Soon | Kyungpook Natl Univ, Sch Med, Dept Obstet & Gynecol, Daegu, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ Hosp, Dept Obstet & Gynecol, Daegu, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Chilgok Hosp, Dept Obstet & Gynecol, Daegu, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Sch Med, Mol Diagnost & Imaging Ctr, Daegu, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Sch Med, Dept Radiat Oncol, Daegu, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ Hosp, Dept Radiat Oncol, Daegu, South Korea | Park, Shinhyung/LNQ-6428-2024 | 57202930844; 57212764251; 57212758372; 23099068000; 57203275843; 37088851700; 26656670100; 27172173100 | gochong@knu.ac.kr; | ANTICANCER RESEARCH | ANTICANCER RES | 0250-7005 | 1791-7530 | 40 | 1 | SCIE | ONCOLOGY | 2020 | 2.48 | 86.6 | 1.15 | 2025-06-25 | 24 | 24 | Locally advanced cervical cancer; post-treatment hematological parameters; prognosis; neutrophil-to-lymphocyte; concurrent chemoradiotherapy | NEUTROPHIL LYMPHOCYTE RATIO; TO-LYMPHOCYTE; INFLAMMATION; CARCINOMA | Concurrent chemoradiotherapy; Locally advanced cervical cancer; Neutrophil-to-lymphocyte; Post-treatment hematological parameters; Prognosis | Chemoradiotherapy; Disease-Free Survival; Female; Humans; Lymphocytes; Middle Aged; Multivariate Analysis; Neoplasm Recurrence, Local; Neoplasm Staging; Neutrophils; Prognosis; Uterine Cervical Neoplasms; cisplatin; cyclophosphamide; mitomycin; vincristine; advanced cancer; aged; Article; brachytherapy; cancer localization; cancer prognosis; cancer recurrence; cancer staging; chemoradiotherapy; conformal radiotherapy; disease free survival; external beam radiotherapy; female; hematological parameters; human; leukocyte count; lymphocyte count; major clinical study; monocyte count; multivariate analysis; neutrophil count; neutrophil lymphocyte ratio; nuclear magnetic resonance imaging; overall survival; platelet lymphocyte ratio; priority journal; radiation dose; retrospective study; tumor volume; uterine cervix cancer; blood; immunology; lymphocyte; middle aged; neutrophil; pathology; prognosis; tumor recurrence; uterine cervix tumor | English | 2020 | 2020-01 | 10.21873/anticanres.13973 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | |
| ○ | ○ | Article | Promotion of Chondrosarcoma Cell Survival, Migration and Lymphangiogenesis by Periostin | Background/Aim: Periostin exists as an extracellular matrix protein in several carcinomas and is related to metastasis and poor prognosis. It is mainly secreted from cancer associated fibroblasts, and not from carcinoma cells. As a tumor microenvironment component, periostin usually mediates tumor cell stemness, metastasis, angiogenesis and lymphangiogenesis. This study aimed to examine the role of periostin in chondrosarcoma. Materials and Methods: To evaluate the effect of periostin on the proliferation of chondrosarcoma cells, MTT assay was performed on SW1353 cells and periostin knockdown SW1353 cells. Migration activity was examined using Boyden chamber. Results: Periostin, secreted from chondrosarcoma cells, was found to support proliferation, and maintain stemness and migration of chondrosarcoma cells. Periostin also induced proliferation and migration of lymphatic endothelial cells. Conclusion: Periostin plays an important role in chondrosarcoma development and disease progression. | Jeong, Ji Yun; Jeong, Wonju; Kim, Ha-Jeong | Kyungpook Natl Univ, Sch Med, Dept Pathol, Daegu, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Sch Med, Dept Orthoped Surg, Daegu, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Sch Med, Dept Physiol, Daegu, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Sch Med, BK21 Plus KNU Biomed Convergence Program, Dept Biomed Sci, Daegu, South Korea | 57205472984; 36657279200; 57191717512 | kimhajeong@knu.ac.kr; | ANTICANCER RESEARCH | ANTICANCER RES | 0250-7005 | 1791-7530 | 40 | 10 | SCIE | ONCOLOGY | 2020 | 2.48 | 86.6 | 0.07 | 2025-06-25 | 1 | 2 | Periostin; carcinoma; stemness; metastasis; angiogenesis; lymphangiogenesis; chondrosarcoma | CANCER STEM-CELLS; STROMAL CELLS; EXPRESSION; BREAST; GROWTH; IDENTIFICATION; ANGIOGENESIS; TRANSITION; INTEGRINS; DIAGNOSIS | Angiogenesis; Carcinoma; Chondrosarcoma; Lymphangiogenesis; Metastasis; Periostin; Stemness | Cell Adhesion Molecules; Cell Line, Tumor; Cell Movement; Cell Proliferation; Cell Survival; Chondrosarcoma; Endothelial Cells; Humans; Lymphangiogenesis; Neoplastic Stem Cells; Neovascularization, Pathologic; Tumor Microenvironment; collagen type 2; messenger RNA; transcription factor RUNX2; transcription factor Sox4; transcription factor Sox9; cell adhesion molecule; POSTN protein, human; Article; cancer growth; cancer stem cell; cell migration; cell proliferation; cell survival; chondrosarcoma; controlled study; gene expression; human; human cell; lymph vessel endothelium; lymphangiogenesis; MTT assay; priority journal; protein expression; protein secretion; SW1353 cell line; tumor microenvironment; cell motion; cell survival; chondrosarcoma; endothelium cell; genetics; lymphangiogenesis; metabolism; neovascularization (pathology); pathology; tumor cell line | English | 2020 | 2020-10 | 10.21873/anticanres.14557 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | ||
| ○ | ○ | Article | Ultrasound Assessment of Synchronous Thyroid Nodules in Patients With Papillary Thyroid Cancer: A Nodule-by-nodule Analysis Between Ultrasound and Pathology | Background/Aim: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the diagnostic value of preoperative ultrasound (US) in the assessment of synchronous thyroid nodules in patients with papillary thyroid cancer (PTC) for determination of surgical extent. Patients and Methods: A total of 210 consecutive patients who were surgically diagnosed with PTC were included in this study. Synchronous nodules, divided into probably benign and suspicious nodules based on US findings, were correlated with pathologic results using a nodule-by-nodule analysis. Results: Among the 302 synchronous nodules in 129 patients, 83 (27.5%) synchronous nodules in 73 patients were diagnosed as malignant after surgery. Ipsilateral probably benign nodules on US were more likely to be malignant than contralateral probably benign nodules (ipsilateral, 10.6%; contralateral, 2.0%, p=0.015). The presence of suspicious contralateral nodules on US and the number of synchronous nodules were significant factors related to contralateral cancer (p<0.001 and 0.030). Conclusion: For evaluation of synchronous nodules in PTC patients, US assessment for synchronous nodules can be applied for preserving the contralateral lobe. | Kim, Hye Jung; Lee, Hui Joong; Jung, Jin Hyang; Kim, Wan Wook; Park, Ji Young; Shin, Kyung Min; Kim, Won Hwa; Cho, Seung Hyun | Kyungpook Natl Univ, Chilgok Hosp, Sch Med, Dept Radiol, Daegu, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Kyungpook Natl Univ Hosp, Sch Med, Dept Radiol, 680 Gukchaebosang Ro, Daegu 41944, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Chilgok Hosp, Sch Med, Dept Surg, Daegu, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Chilgok Hosp, Sch Med, Dept Pathol, Daegu, South Korea | 57203506201; 23485776600; 57209310173; 26023273400; 57210160197; 7402410737; 36081886500; 55686242700 | leehuijoong@knu.ac.kr; | ANTICANCER RESEARCH | ANTICANCER RES | 0250-7005 | 1791-7530 | 40 | 3 | SCIE | ONCOLOGY | 2020 | 2.48 | 86.6 | 0.13 | 2025-06-25 | 4 | 4 | Thyroid cancer; papillary; ultrasonography; thyroid nodule | TERM-FOLLOW-UP; EXTRATHYROID EXTENSION; SURGICAL-MANAGEMENT; CARCINOMA; ULTRASONOGRAPHY; MICROCARCINOMA; LOBECTOMY; DIFFERENTIATION; ASSOCIATION; PERFORMANCE | Papillary; Thyroid cancer; Thyroid nodule; Ultrasonography | Adolescent; Adult; Aged; Female; Humans; Male; Middle Aged; Thyroid Cancer, Papillary; Thyroid Nodule; Ultrasonography; Young Adult; adult; aged; Article; cancer diagnosis; cancer patient; cancer staging; controlled study; diagnostic value; echography; female; histopathology; human; lymph node metastasis; major clinical study; male; neck dissection; occult cancer; preoperative evaluation; priority journal; synchronous thyroid nodule; thyroid nodule; thyroid papillary carcinoma; thyroid surgery; tumor invasion; tumor volume; ultrasound guided fine needle aspiration; adolescent; complication; diagnostic imaging; echography; middle aged; pathology; procedures; thyroid nodule; young adult | English | 2020 | 2020-03 | 10.21873/anticanres.14132 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 |
