| ○ | Article | Granular origins of the Chinese business cycle | Recent events in China, like Foxconn’s factory downsizing and Evergrande’s bankruptcy, have significantly impacted regional economies, highlighting how idiosyncratic shocks from large firms can generate aggregate effects. Using the ‘granular hypothesis’, which posits a significant impact of large firms’ actions on the macroeconomy, this study investigates how idiosyncratic shocks from large Chinese firms affect regional productivity growth and markups. Our findings demonstrate that idiosyncratic shocks to the 100 largest firms per province significantly impact regional labour productivity and total factor productivity growth but not gross regional domestic product growth. Subsequently, we examine how idiosyncratic shocks impact product market distortions, revealing that idiosyncratic shocks to large firms increase markups in regional markets, suggesting amplified market power. © 2024 Informa UK Limited, trading as Taylor & Francis Group. | Shin, Kotbee; Li, Tian; Lee, Jaimin | Department of Economics, Chungbuk National University, Cheongju, South Korea; Department of International Economics and Trade, Kyungpook National University, Daegu, South Korea; Department of International Economics and Trade, Kyungpook National University, Daegu, South Korea | 57285808900; 59353154000; 56106356700 | jm064@knu.ac.kr; | Applied Economics Letters | APPL ECON LETT | 1350-4851 | 1466-4291 | SSCI | ECONOMICS | 2024 | 1.3 | 53.7 | 0 | 2025-05-07 | 0 | Chinese economy; Granular residual; Markups; productivity; regional economy | English | Article in press | 2024 | 10.1080/13504851.2024.2409327 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | ||||||||||
| ○ | ○ | Article | Smart city fire surveillance: A deep state-space model with intelligent agents | In the realm of smart city development, the integration of intelligent agents has emerged as a pivotal strategy to enhance the efficacy of search methodologies. This study introduces a novel state-space navigational model employing intelligent agents tailored specifically for fire surveillance in urban environments. Central to this model is the fusion of a convolutional neural network and multilayer perceptron, enabling accurate fire detection and localisation. Leveraging this capability, the intelligent agent proactively navigates through the search space, guided by the shortest path to the identified fire location. The utilisation of the A* algorithm as the search mechanism underscores the efficiency and efficacy of our proposed approach. Implemented in Python and Gephi, our method surpasses traditional search algorithms, both informed and uninformed, demonstrating its effectiveness in navigating urban landscapes for fire surveillance. This research study contributes significantly to the field by offering a robust solution for proactive fire detection and surveillance in smart city environments, thereby enhancing public safety and urban resilience. | ○ | Article | The value of corporate social responsibility: evidence from the humidifier disinfectant scandal in Korea | As a quasi-natural experiment, we examine the effects of corporate social responsibility (CSR) on firms’ stock performance amid a corporate scandal closely linked with environmental and social (ES) issues, the humidifier disinfectant scandal in Korea. We find that firms with higher ES ratings, especially those with higher social ratings, outperform firms with lower ES ratings during the product safety scandal. Our estimation shows that one standard deviation increase in a firm’s ES score translates into about 2.4% higher stock returns during the scandal period. Our findings reveal that ES performance is influential over a firm’s stock returns when investors pay high attention to CSR, suggesting that firms’ CSR investments mitigate their nonfinancial risk. © 2024 Informa UK Limited, trading as Taylor & Francis Group. | Kim, Kyunghyun; Na, Hyun Seung | School of Business Administration, Kyungpook National University, Daegu, South Korea; Business School, Korea University, Seoul, South Korea | 57357870300; 35272503700 | nahs@korea.ac.kr; | Applied Economics Letters | APPL ECON LETT | 1350-4851 | 1466-4291 | SSCI | ECONOMICS | 2024 | 1.3 | 53.7 | 0 | 2025-04-16 | 1 | Corporate social responsibility; environmental and social; humidifier disinfectant scandal; stock performance | English | Article in press | 2024 | 10.1080/13504851.2024.2331676 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | ||||||||||
| ○ | ○ | Article | Optimum Strut-and-Tie Models for Reinforced Concrete Beams | In this study, the authors suggested three optimum strut-and-tie models (STMs), which consider all reinforced concrete (RC) beams' failure behavior characteristics. The recommended models are valid for the RC beams with a shear span ratio (a/d) of less than 4.5. For each model, the authors also proposed a force distribution ratio, described by the portion of force carried by a truss mechanism, to assist structural designers in conducting the appropriate design using the current design codes' STM methods. In determining the force distribution ratios, the authors incorporated the influences of the main design variables, such as the a/d ratio, flexural rebar ratio, and concrete strength. The authors verified the appropriateness of the suggested STMs and force distribution ratios by using them for the strength verification of 758 RC beams tested to failure. The proposed STMs and force distribution ratios predicted the RC beams' failure strength quite well. The average test-to-predicted strength ratios (and coefficient of variations) by the present study and conventional STM models of design codes were 1.07 (21.3%) and 1.75-1.82 (27.6-45.7%), respectively. | Yun, Young Mook; Lee, You Jong; Kim, Seung Hwan | Kyungpook Natl Univ, Sch Architectural Civil Environm & Energy Engn, Daegu 41566, South Korea; Univ Calif San Diego, Dept Struct Engn, La Jolla, CA 92093 USA | 7201731110; 57236620700; 58866379300 | ymyun@knu.ac.kr; | KSCE JOURNAL OF CIVIL ENGINEERING | KSCE J CIV ENG | 1226-7988 | 1976-3808 | 28 | 5 | SCIE | ENGINEERING, CIVIL | 2024 | 2 | 53.8 | 0.68 | 2025-05-07 | 1 | 2 | Strut-and-tie model; Reinforced concrete beam; Force distribution ratio; Truss mechanism; Strength analysis | MINIMUM SHEAR REINFORCEMENT; RC DEEP BEAMS; HIGH-STRENGTH; WEB REINFORCEMENT; BEHAVIOR; DESIGN; PERFORMANCE; SPAN; RATIO; SIZE | Force distribution ratio; Reinforced concrete beam; Strength analysis; Strut-and-tie model; Truss mechanism | Concrete beams and girders; Trusses; Beam failure; Design codes; Distribution ratio; Force distribution ratio; Force distributions; Modeling distributions; Reinforced concrete beams; Strength analysis; Strut-and-tie model; Truss mechanism; Reinforced concrete | English | 2024 | 2024-05 | 10.1007/s12205-024-0484-y | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | ||
| ○ | ○ | Article | Seismic Performance of Fuel Lines Connected to Emergency Diesel Generator Considering Isolation Device | Applying isolation devices to nuclear power plant equipment can improve the equipment's seismic safety. When the equipment is connected to piping, however, its seismic safety can rather be decreased due to the increase in the relative displacement of the connected pipes. An emergency diesel generator (EDG) supplies power when a generator and an external power source in a nuclear power plant do not operate. Isolation devices can be installed to improve EDG's seismic safety. The seismic safety of EDG is generally evaluated considering only EDG and the isolation device. Since the piping connected to EDG is responsible for fuel supply and cooling, however, the seismic safety of EDG must be evaluated considering the piping as well. In this study, seismic fragility analyses were conducted according to the modeling of isolation devices for EDG equipped with the isolation device and the piping connected to EDG. Seismic response analyses were performed considering the fuel line in EDG to which the seismic isolation devices were applied, and seismic fragility curves were estimated based on the results of the seismic response analysis. The research results showed that the piping connected to EDG could be damaged earlier than EDG, indicating that proper piping system design and seismic safety assessment are required to apply isolation devices to EDG. | Jeon, Bub-Gyu; Yun, Da-Woon; Chang, Sung-Jin; Kim, Sung-Wan; Eem, Seunghyun | Pusan Natl Univ, Seism Res & Test Ctr, Yangsan 50612, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Major Plant Syst Engn, Dept Convergence & Fus Syst Engn, Sangju 37224, South Korea | ; Eem, Seunghyun/KVB-1493-2024; Kim, Sung-Wan/IQU-9193-2023 | 54961482000; 57207458624; 55494267900; 55315467600; 52363442900 | eemsh@knu.ac.kr; | KSCE JOURNAL OF CIVIL ENGINEERING | KSCE J CIV ENG | 1226-7988 | 1976-3808 | 28 | 11 | SCIE | ENGINEERING, CIVIL | 2024 | 2 | 53.8 | 0 | 2025-05-07 | 0 | 0 | EDG; Piping; Seismic; Isolation; Fragility | LOW-CYCLE FATIGUE; ISOLATION SYSTEM; BEHAVIOR; ELBOWS; STRAIN | EDG; Fragility; Isolation; Piping; Seismic | Diesel engines; Nuclear energy; Nuclear fuels; Seismic design; Seismic response; Diesel generators; Emergency diesel generator; Fragility; Fuel lines; Isolation; Isolation devices; Piping; Seismic; Seismic response analysis; Seismic safety; Nuclear power plants | English | 2024 | 2024-11 | 10.1007/s12205-024-2233-7 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | |
| ○ | ○ | Article | Shoreline Change Analysis with Deep Learning Semantic Segmentation Using Remote Sensing and GIS Data | Shoreline management is essential for navigation, coastal resource management, and coastal planning and development. Shoreline change detection is vital for shoreline monitoring; however, traditional methods used for such detection are laborious and have limited accuracy. An approach that integrates remote sensing imagery and geographic information systems (GISs) is proposed herein to simultaneously identify shoreline changes and perform grid-level visualization for updating shoreline data. The integrated approach uses deep learning-based segmentation networks and water indexes to accurately classify land and sea in remote sensing images. Transfer learning was used to address the issue of insufficient data, wherein weights trained on a large open dataset were applied to the target area. The segmentation results were compared with existing shoreline GIS data to identify the areas experiencing shoreline changes. Grid-level visualization enhanced the identification of regions requiring flexible data updates and investigation efficiency by focusing on specific areas. The proposed approach accurately detected shoreline changes, albeit with some errors of commission, predominantly in regions featuring intricate shorelines and small clusters of islands. The proposed approach offers efficient solutions for shoreline change detection, with potential applications in coastal management, environmental science, urban planning, and coastal hazard assessment. | Park, Seula; Song, Ahram | Seoul Natl Univ, Dept Civil & Environm Engn, Seoul 08826, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Dept Locat Based Informat Syst, Sangju 37224, South Korea | 57776918600; 56496312900 | ars@knu.ac.kr; | KSCE JOURNAL OF CIVIL ENGINEERING | KSCE J CIV ENG | 1226-7988 | 1976-3808 | 28 | 2 | SCIE | ENGINEERING, CIVIL | 2024 | 2 | 53.8 | 2.39 | 2025-05-07 | 6 | 8 | Shoreline; Change analysis; Remote sensing; GIS; Attention U-net; Water index | COAST | Attention U-net; Change analysis; GIS; Remote sensing; Shoreline; Water index | Data visualization; Deep learning; Geographic information systems; Image segmentation; Large dataset; Semantics; Visualization; Attention U-net; Change analysis; Change detection; Grid levels; Learning semantics; Remote-sensing; Shoreline; Shoreline change; Shoreline change analysis; Water index; Remote sensing | English | 2024 | 2024-02 | 10.1007/s12205-023-1604-9 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | ||
| ○ | ○ | Article | Waste Lime Earthwork Management Using Drone and BIM Technology for Construction Projects: The Case Study of Urban Development Project | Recently, there has been a recognized need to use waste lime landfills for land reclamation projects. Waste lime earthwork is more challenging than general earthwork operations due to potential health and safety hazards and significant changes in earthwork volume. There has been substantial research undertaken on the role of advanced construction technologies in general earthwork; however, their potential in hazardous waste lime environments for earthwork management is yet to be explored. This research proposes a methodology that integrates drone and BIM construction technology for effective and efficient hazardous waste lime earthwork management for construction projects. Drones are used for surveying, providing as-built information, and BIM to model, process, and evaluate the progress of waste lime earthwork. Volume change analyses are conducted using BIM to calculate dehydration time due to the ripple effect of waste lime for cost-efficient earthwork haulage. The case study provides evidence that the proposed method using advanced construction technologies improves productivity, safety, cost control, and better project management for earthwork related to hazardous waste materials. | Lee, Soomin; Bae, Jung Yeoul; Sharafat, Abubakar; Seo, Jongwon | Hanyang Univ, Dept Civil & Environm Engn, Seoul 04763, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Sch Architectural Civil Environm & Energy Engn, Daegu 41566, South Korea | ; Sharafat, Abubakar/ITW-2048-2023 | 57219602036; 58740114100; 57204630290; 7401783784 | jseo@hanyang.ac.kr; | KSCE JOURNAL OF CIVIL ENGINEERING | KSCE J CIV ENG | 1226-7988 | 1976-3808 | 28 | 2 | SCIE | ENGINEERING, CIVIL | 2024 | 2 | 53.8 | 2.39 | 2025-05-07 | 7 | 8 | Waste lime; Earthwork management; Drone; Surveying; BIM; Volume estimation | ENGINEERING CHARACTERISTICS; UAV; PHOTOGRAMMETRY; SYSTEM | BIM; Drone; Earthwork management; Surveying; Volume estimation; Waste lime | Cost benefit analysis; Cost effectiveness; Drones; Fungi; Health hazards; Project management; Urban growth; Advanced construction; BIM; Case-studies; Construction projects; Construction technologies; Earthwork management; Hazardous wastes; Surveying; Volume estimations; Waste lime; Lime | English | 2024 | 2024-02 | 10.1007/s12205-023-1245-z | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | |
| ○ | ○ | Review | Advances in self-expandable metal stents for endoscopic ultrasound-guided interventions | Endoscopic ultrasound (EUS)-guided interventions have evolved rapidly in recent years, with dedicated metal stents playing a crucial role in this process. Specifically, the invention of biflanged short metal-covered stents, including lumen-apposing metal stents (LAMS), and modifications in a variety of tubular self-expandable metal stents (SEMS), have led to innovations in EUS-guided interventions. LAMS or non- LAMS stents are commonly used in the EUS-guided drainage of pancreatic fluid collections, especially in cases of walled-off necrosis. Additionally, LAMS is commonly considered for drainage of the EUS-guided gallbladder or dilated common bile duct and EUS-guided gastroenterostomy. Fully or partially covered tubular SEMS with several new designs are being considered for EUS-guided biliary drainage. This review focuses on advances in SEMS for EUS-guided interventions and discusses related research results. | Jang, Dong Kee; Lee, Dong Wook; Kim, Seong-Hun; Cho, Kwang Bum; Lakhtakia, Sundeep | Seoul Natl Univ, Dept Internal Med, Seoul Metropolitan Govt Boramae Med Ctr, Coll Med, Seoul, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Sch Med, Dept Internal Med, Daegu, South Korea; Jeonbuk Natl Univ Hosp, Dept Internal Med, Jeonju, South Korea; Keimyung Univ, Dept Internal Med, Sch Med, Daegu, South Korea; Asian Inst Gastroenterol, Hyderabad, India | ; Lakhtakia, Sundeep/H-3607-2019 | 56091787300; 57202974895; 57206878084; 7403956834; 57512320700 | chokb@dsmc.or.kr;drsundeeplakhtakia@gmail.com; | CLINICAL ENDOSCOPY | CLIN ENDOSC | 2234-2400 | 2234-2443 | 57 | 5 | ESCI | GASTROENTEROLOGY & HEPATOLOGY | 2024 | 2.3 | 54.1 | 0.35 | 2025-05-07 | 3 | 1 | Drainage; Endosonography; Self expandable metallic stents | GALLBLADDER DRAINAGE | Drainage; Endosonography; Self expandable metallic stents | biliary tract drainage; common bile duct; complication; drug dose; endoscopic ultrasonography; gallbladder; gastroenterostomy; gastrointestinal endoscopy; human; interventional ultrasonography; metal stent; necrosis; pancreas juice; review; self expandable metallic stent; stent graft; surgery; therapy | English | 2024 | 2024-09 | 10.5946/ce.2023.169 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | |
| ○ | Article | Improving Reproducibility of Volumetric Evaluation Using Computed Tomography in Pediatric Patients with Congenital Heart Disease | The volumetric data obtained from the cardiac CT scan of congenital heart disease patients is important for defining patient’s status and making decision for proper management. The objective of this study is to evaluate the intra-observer, inter-observer, and interstudy reproducibility of left ventricular (LV) and right ventricular (RV) or functional single-ventricle (FSV) volume. And compared those between manual and using semi-automated segmentation tool. Total of 127 patients (56 female, 71 male; mean age 82.1 months) underwent pediatric protocol cardiac CT from January 2020 to December 2022. The volumetric data including both end-systolic and -diastolic volume and calculated EF were derived from both conventional semiautomatic region growing algorithms (CM, TeraRecon, TeraRecon, Inc., San Mateo, CA, USA) and deep learning-based annotation program (DLS, Medilabel, Ingradient, Inc., Seoul, Republic of Korea) by three readers, who have different background knowledge or experience of radiology or image extraction before. The reproducibility was compared using intra- and inter-observer agreements. And the usability was measured using time for reconstruction and number of tests that were reconfigured before the reconfiguration time was reduced to less than 5 min. Inter- and intra-observer agreements showed better agreements degrees in DLS than CM in all analyzers. The time used for reconstruction showed significantly shorter in DLS compared with CM. And significantly small numbers of tests before the reconfiguration is needed in DLS than CM. Deep learning-based annotation program can be more accurate way for measurement of volumetric data for congenital heart disease patients with better reproducibility than conventional method. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2024. | Cho, Hyun-Hae; Lee, So Mi; You, Sun Kyoung | Department of Radiology and Medical Research Institute, College of Medicine, Ewha Womans University Seoul Hospital, Seoul, South Korea; Department of Radiology, School of Medicine, Kyungpook National University Hospital, Kyungpook National University, Daegu, South Korea; Department of Radiology, Chungnam National University Hospital, Daejeon, South Korea | 56544900900; 56824903400; 56710939300 | pedradchh@ewha.ac.kr; | Pediatric Cardiology | PEDIATR CARDIOL | 0172-0643 | 1432-1971 | SCIE | CARDIAC & CARDIOVASCULAR SYSTEMS;PEDIATRICS | 2024 | 1.4 | 54.2 | 0.81 | 2025-05-07 | 1 | Cardiac computed tomography; Deep learning image reconstruction; Pediatric | English | Article in press | 2024 | 10.1007/s00246-024-03630-6 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | ||||||||||
| ○ | ○ | Article | Multi-indicator based multi-objective evolutionary algorithm with application to neural architecture search | ISDE+\documentclass[12pt]{minimal} \usepackage{amsmath} \usepackage{wasysym} \usepackage{amsfonts} \usepackage{amssymb} \usepackage{amsbsy} \usepackage{mathrsfs} \usepackage{upgreek} \setlength{\oddsidemargin}{-69pt} \begin{document}$${\mathbf{I}}_{{\mathbf{SDE}}{+}}$$\end{document} is proven to be one of the leading scalable indicator for evolutionary multi and many-objective optimization. However, it fails to segregate members of a given population beyond the first front as a large number of solutions in the population have identical ISDE+\documentclass[12pt]{minimal} \usepackage{amsmath} \usepackage{wasysym} \usepackage{amsfonts} \usepackage{amssymb} \usepackage{amsbsy} \usepackage{mathrsfs} \usepackage{upgreek} \setlength{\oddsidemargin}{-69pt} \begin{document}$${\mathbf{I}}_{{\mathbf{SDE}}{+}}$$\end{document} values. This mainly affects the performance of the algorithm when handling optimization problems with lower objectives. Consequently, we hypothesize that the overall performance of the algorithm can be further improved by introducing a categorization mechanism similar to the categorization of Pareto Fronts (PFs) in dominance-based methods. Therefore, in this work, we propose a Multi-Indicator-Based Multi-Objective Evolutionary Algorithm (MI-MOEA) which categorizes all the solutions into different fronts. Specifically, the indicators are based on the popular ISDE+\documentclass[12pt]{minimal} \usepackage{amsmath} \usepackage{wasysym} \usepackage{amsfonts} \usepackage{amssymb} \usepackage{amsbsy} \usepackage{mathrsfs} \usepackage{upgreek} \setlength{\oddsidemargin}{-69pt} \begin{document}$${\mathbf{I}}_{{\mathbf{SDE}}{+}}$$\end{document} indicator and make use of the minimum and median distance values among the different distances when the solutions with better Sum of Objectives (SOB) are projected. The use of these two ISDE+\documentclass[12pt]{minimal} \usepackage{amsmath} \usepackage{wasysym} \usepackage{amsfonts} \usepackage{amssymb} \usepackage{amsbsy} \usepackage{mathrsfs} \usepackage{upgreek} \setlength{\oddsidemargin}{-69pt} \begin{document}$${\mathbf{I}}_{{\mathbf{SDE}}{+}}$$\end{document}-based indicator values features an efficient balance of exploration and exploitation. To evaluate the performance of the proposed MI-MOEA, Neural Architecture Search (NAS) which involves the design of appropriate architectures suitable for specific applications is employed. From an optimization perspective, NAS involves multiple conflicting objectives that needs to be simultaneously optimized. In this paper, we consider a recently proposed multi-objective NAS benchmark and favorably evaluate the performance of MI-MOEA compared to other state-of-the-art MOEAs. | Ajani, Oladayo S.; Darlan, Daison; Ivan, Dzeuban Fenyom; Mallipeddi, Rammohan | Kyungpook Natl Univ, Dept Artificial Intelligence, 80 Daehakro, Daegu 41566, South Korea | ; Mallipeddi, Rammohan/AAL-5306-2020; AJANI, Oladayo/HIR-9607-2022; Darlan, Daison/KQA-9542-2024 | 57465126000; 58164208500; 58655933000; 25639919900 | oladayosolomon@gmail.com;daisondarlan33@gmail.com;ivanfenyom@gmail.com;mallipeddi.ram@gmail.com; | INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF MACHINE LEARNING AND CYBERNETICS | INT J MACH LEARN CYB | 1868-8071 | 1868-808X | 15 | 12 | SCIE | COMPUTER SCIENCE, ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE | 2024 | 2.7 | 54.2 | 0.32 | 2025-05-07 | 1 | 1 | Evolutionary multi-objective optimization; Indicator-based evolutionary algorithm; Neural architecture search | Evolutionary multi-objective optimization; Indicator-based evolutionary algorithm; Neural architecture search | Consensus algorithm; Evolutionary algorithms; Multiobjective optimization; Population statistics; Distance values; Evolutionary multiobjective optimization; Indicator-based evolutionary algorithm; Many-objective optimizations; Multi-Objective Evolutionary Algorithm; Neural architecture search; Neural architectures; Optimization problems; Pareto front; Performance; Optimization algorithms | English | 2024 | 2024-12 | 10.1007/s13042-024-02300-6 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | ||
| ○ | ○ | Article | Potassium nickel hexacyanoferrate-polyacrylonitrile composite for removing cobalt, strontium, and cesium from radioactive laundry wastewater | The applicability of potassium nickel hexacyanoferrate-polyacrylonitrile (KNiFC-PAN) for the sorption of Co2+, Sr2+, and Cs+ from radioactive laundry wastewater generated in nuclear power plants was investigated. Competitive sorption of Co2+, Sr2+, and Cs+ onto KNiFC-PAN was studied for single, binary, and ternary solutions. The Langmuir, Freundlich, Kargi-Ozm & imath;hci, Koble-Corrigan, and Langmuir-Freundlich models predicted the single-sorption data (R-2 >= 0.942, sum of squared error <= 0.105). The sorption isotherms were nonlinearly favorable (Freundlich coefficient, N-F = 0.288-0.842). According to the Langmuir, Freundlich, Kargi-Ozm & imath;hci, Koble-Corrigan, and Langmuir-Freundlich models, at pH 5 (C-0 = 20 mM), KNiFC-PAN exhibited the highest maximum sorption capacity (q(mL)) for Cs+ among the investigated cations, wherein the primary mechanism was physical sorption. The competition between the metal ions in the binary and ternary systems reduced the respective sorption capacities. Binary and ternary sorption models, such as the ideal adsorbed solution theory (IAST) model coupled with Freundlich (IAST-Freundlich), IAST-Langmuir, and IAST-Langmuir-Freundlich models, were fitted to the experimental data; among these, the IAST-Freundlich model was the most accurate for the binary and ternary systems. The presence of sodium 4-n-octylbenzenesulfonate and dodecylbenzene-sulfonic acid sodium salt as anionic surfactants strongly affected the sorption capacity on KNiFC-PAN owing to increased distribution coefficients (K-d) of Cs+, Sr2+, and Co2+. Thus, KNiFC-PAN is promising for removing Cs+, Sr2+, and Co2+ from radioactive laundry wastewater. | Septian, Ardie; Masud, Md Abdullah Al; Shin, Won Sik | Natl Res & Innovat Agcy, Badan Riset dan Inovasi Nas BRIN, Res Ctr Environm & Clean Technol, Serpong, Indonesia; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Sch Architecture Civil Environm & Energy Engn, Daegu, South Korea | ; Septian, Ardie/HGB-8696-2022; Masud, Md Abdullah Al/JEF-1055-2023 | 57201503612; 57542255300; 23019870800 | wshin@knu.ac.kr; | CLEAN-SOIL AIR WATER | CLEAN-SOIL AIR WATER | 1863-0650 | 1863-0669 | 52 | 1 | SCIE | ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCES;GREEN & SUSTAINABLE SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY;MARINE & FRESHWATER BIOLOGY;WATER RESOURCES | 2024 | 1.4 | 54.2 | 1.1 | 2025-04-16 | 4 | 4 | IAST; KNiFC-PAN; multi-solute sorption; radioactive laundry wastewater | AQUEOUS-SOLUTION; ION-EXCHANGER; SR IONS; ADSORPTION; SORPTION; PERFORMANCE; MONTMORILLONITE; RADIONUCLIDES; SURFACTANT; PARTICLES | IAST; KNiFC–PAN; multi-solute sorption; radioactive laundry wastewater | cesium; cobalt; composite; nickel; potassium; radioactive waste; sorption; strontium | English | 2024 | 2024-01 | 10.1002/clen.202300057 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | |
| ○ | ○ | Article | A Comparison of 2 Cage Sizes in Biportal Endoscopic Transforaminal Lumbar Interbody Fusion | Study Design:Retrospective study. Objective:This study compared the fusion and subsidence rate and clinical outcomes when using different-sized static PEEK cages in BE-TLIF. Summary of Background Data:Biportal endoscopic techniques for transforaminal lumbar interbody fusion (BE-TLIF) have been shown to have similar clinical and fusion outcomes with faster clinical recovery in comparison to tubular surgery. Subsidence of the interbody, however, could be a complication. Methods:Patients who underwent 1 or 2 level BE-TLIF for degenerative and isthmic spondylolisthesis between January 2019 and January 2022 were included. A 32x10 mm cage (group A) and a 40x15 mm cage (group B) were compared. The visual analog scale (VAS) for back and leg symptoms, and Oswestry disability index (ODI) were collected. Plain radiographs and computed tomography assessed fusion and subsidence at a minimum of 12 months. Results:Of the 69 enrolled patients, 39 group A patients (51 levels) and 30 group B patients (32 levels) were compared. The operation time per level was 123 +/- 15.8 and 138 +/- 10.5 minutes per fusion level in groups A and B, respectively (P < 0.05). ODI improved from 64.8 +/- 6.2 to 15.7 +/- 7.1 in group A and from 65.3 +/- 5.6 to 15.1 +/- 6.3 in group B at the final follow-up (P < 0.05). VAS leg and back score improvement between the groups did not differ; however, the 3-month postoperative VAS back improvement was significantly higher in group B. The final fusion rate at the final follow-up did not significantly differ; however, the fusion ratio at 1 year was higher in group B (P < 0.05). Subsidence occurred in 5 cases (9.8%) in group A and none in group B (P < 0.05). Conclusion:BE-TLIF using a larger cage can be performed safely with similar patient-reported outcome measures with a faster fusion rate with less subsidence risk. | ○ | ○ | Article | Prevalence of glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD) deficiency in Gia Lai Province, Vietnam | Glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD; EC 1.1.1.49) deficiency is one of the most common X-linked hereditary disorders worldwide. G6PD deficiency provides resistance against severe malaria, but paradoxically, G6PD deficiency is also a stumbling block in fighting against malaria. Primaquine (PQ), a drug for the radical cure of Plasmodium vivax, can cause lethal acute hemolytic anemia in malaria patients with inherited G6PD deficiency. In this study, we analyzed the phenotypic and genotypic G6PD deficiency status in 1721 individuals (963 males and 758 females) residing in three malaria-endemic areas within the Gia Lai province, Vietnam. The G6PD activity in individuals ranged from 3.04 to 47.82 U/g Hb, with the adjusted male median (AMM) of 7.89 U/g Hb. Based on the G6PD activity assay results, no phenotypic G6PD deficiency was detected. However, the multiplex polymerase chain reaction to detect G6PD variations in the gene level revealed that 26 individuals (7 males, 19 females) had Viangchan mutations (871 G > A). Sequencing analyses suggested that all the males were hemizygous Viangchan, whereas one was homozygous, and 18 were heterozygous Viangchan in females. These results suggested a relatively low prevalence of G6PD deficiency mutation rate (1.51%) in the minor ethnic populations residing in the Gia Lai province, Vietnam. However, considering these areas are high-risk malaria endemic, concern for proper and safe use of PQ as a radical cure of malaria is needed by combining a G6PD deficiency test before PQ prescription. | Vo, Tuan Cuong; Le, Huong Giang; Kang, Jung-Mi; Nguyen, Dang Thuy Duong; Nguyen, Thu Hang; Yoo, Won Gi; Goo, Youn-Kyoung; Trinh, Nguyen Thi Minh; Van Khanh, Chau; Quang, Huynh Hong; Na, Byoung-Kuk | Gyeongsang Natl Univ, Coll Med, Dept Parasitol & Trop Med, Jinju 52727, South Korea; Gyeongsang Natl Univ, Coll Med, Inst Med Sci, Jinju 52727, South Korea; Gyeongsang Natl Univ, Dept Convergence Med Sci, Jinju 52727, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Sch Med, Dept Parasitol & Trop Med, Daegu 700422, South Korea; Inst Malariol Parasitol & Entomol Quy Nhon, Trop Dis Clin & Treatment Res Dept, Quy Nhon, Vietnam | Yoo, Won/O-8386-2018; Na, b/KPY-6354-2024 | 57216850499; 57200567418; 7404517088; 58902858800; 58746295600; 35811429600; 22937863200; 58902117400; 58902410400; 58903016000; 7005291099 | jmkang@gnu.ac.kr;kuku1819@knu.ac.kr;huynhquangimpe@yahoo.com;bkna@gnu.ac.kr; | PARASITOLOGY INTERNATIONAL | PARASITOL INT | 1383-5769 | 1873-0329 | 100 | SCIE | PARASITOLOGY | 2024 | 1.9 | 54.3 | 0.75 | 2025-05-07 | 1 | 1 | Glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency; Viangchan variant; Central Highland; Vietnam | VARIANTS; FREQUENCY | Central Highland; Glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency; Viangchan variant; Vietnam | Antimalarials; Female; Glucosephosphate Dehydrogenase; Glucosephosphate Dehydrogenase Deficiency; Humans; Malaria; Malaria, Vivax; Male; Prevalence; Primaquine; Vietnam; glucose 6 phosphate dehydrogenase; hemoglobin; antimalarial agent; glucose 6 phosphate dehydrogenase; primaquine; adolescent; adult; aged; allele specific polymerase chain reaction; Article; blood sampling; child; controlled study; exon; female; gene mutation; genetic trait; genotype; glucose 6 phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency; heterozygosity; homozygosity; human; major clinical study; male; multiplex polymerase chain reaction; mutation rate; phenotype; prevalence; sequence analysis; sex difference; Viet Nam; wild type; genetics; glucose 6 phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency; malaria; Plasmodium vivax malaria; prevalence; Viet Nam | English | 2024 | 2024-06 | 10.1016/j.parint.2024.102868 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | ||
| ○ | ○ | Article | Molecular phylogenetic and biogeographic evidence of Lepidagathis Willd. (Acanthaceae, Barlerieae) focusing on Indian endemics | Lepidagathis Willd., a genus belonging to the Acanthaceae family, is primarily distributed in tropical and subtropical regions worldwide, encompassing approximately 153 species. While considerable morphological research has been conducted on Lepidagathis, it has not completely dispelled taxonomic ambiguities and conflicting interpretations. Molecular analysis emerges as a valuable tool for resolving these taxonomic uncertainties, but the availability of nucleotide sequence data for Lepidagathis has been limited thus far. This study delivers a phylogenetic analysis of Lepidagathis species, utilizing both chloroplast and nuclear regions. The results of Bayesian Inference and Maximum Likelihood phylogenetic analyses consistently segregate the studied Lepidagathis species into two principal clades, denoted as Clade A and Clade B. Notably, this analysis firmly positions the Indian endemic Lepidagathis within Clade A, supported by robust statistical evidence. Furthermore, our biogeographical analysis strongly suggests that the origin of Lepidagathis might be traced back to Eurasia. This research establishes a foundational molecular phylogeny of Lepidagathis, offering valuable insights for future taxonomic investigations. Additionally, it sheds light on the evolutionary history and biogeographical origins of the Lepidagathis genus. | Kadam, Suhas K.; Mane, Rohit N.; Tamboli, Asif S.; Jangam, Akshay P.; Choo, Yeon-Sik; Pak, Jae Hong | Kyungpook Natl Univ, Res Inst Dok Do & Ulleung Isl, Daegu, South Korea; Rayat Shikshan Sansthas, Balwant Coll, Dept Bot, Vita, Sangli, India; New Coll, Dept Bot, Kolhapur, Maharashtra, India | Kadam, Dr. Suhas/HNI-6437-2023; Tamboli, Asif/HJB-2803-2022; Kadam, Dr Suhas/HNI-6437-2023 | 57188723669; 57194283918; 56974034100; 58082070500; 26040458100; 7102232932 | jhpak@knu.ac.kr; | PHYTOKEYS | PHYTOKEYS | 1314-2011 | 1314-2003 | 248 | SCIE | PLANT SCIENCES | 2024 | 1.5 | 54.4 | 0.76 | 2025-05-07 | 1 | 1 | Barlerieae; biogeography; ITS; Lepidagathis; molecular phylogeny; trnL-F; trnS-G | RECONSTRUCT ANCESTRAL STATE; KONKAN REGION; MAHARASHTRA; TOOL | Barlerieae; biogeography; ITS; Lepidagathis; molecular phylogeny; trnL-F; trnS-G | English | 2024 | 2024-10-31 | 10.3897/phytokeys.248.133776 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | |||
| ○ | Article | Design of active disturbance rejection controller for the system with unknown model using Laguerre functions | This paper concentrates on the design problem of linear active disturbance rejection control (LADRC) for uncertain systems, whose order and parameters are unknown. In general, LADRC has diversified structural forms due to different order and parameters selection. To clarify the prerequisites for constructing the LADRC strategy, a Laguerre-based LADRC (LLADRC) method is proposed, which provides controller design guidance for systems with unknown models by capturing the impulse response. Then, intensive attention is focused on establishing internal stability conditions of the feedback system and parameter tuning rules of the prescribed controller. To gain a better understanding, the internal correlation between LLADRC and standard LADRC of the same order is analyzed. It is shown that observer and controller gains of the standard LADRC can be tuned via a workable LLADRC to achieve better control performance. Finally, a numerical example and an application design of DC motor speed control are studied, both of which demonstrate the feasibility and validity of the proposed method. © The Author(s) 2024. | Zhang, Pengcheng; Wang, Jianyu; Lee, Sangmoon; Cheng, Yun | School of Automation, China, School of Electronic and Electrical Engineering, Kyungpook National University, South Korea; School of Automation, China; School of Electronic and Electrical Engineering, Kyungpook National University, South Korea; School of Electrical Engineering, Nantong University, China | 58043447700; 59404375300; 59510733500; 57195074595 | moony@knu.ac.kr; | Transactions of the Institute of Measurement and Control | T I MEAS CONTROL | 0142-3312 | 1477-0369 | SCIE | AUTOMATION & CONTROL SYSTEMS;INSTRUMENTS & INSTRUMENTATION | 2024 | 1.9 | 54.5 | 0 | 2025-05-07 | 0 | LADRC; Laguerre basis functions; Laguerre-based LADRC; parameter tuning | Active safety systems; Electronic guidance systems; Impulse response; Numerical control systems; Uncertain systems; Active disturbance rejection; Design problems; Laguerre; Laguerre basis functions; Laguerre functions; Laguerre-based linear active disturbance rejection control; Linear active disturbance rejection controls; Parameters tuning; Structural form; Disturbance rejection | English | Article in press | 2024 | 10.1177/01423312241274602 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 |
