| ○ | ○ | Article | Long-Term Outcomes of Local Tirofiban Infusion for Intracranial Atherosclerosis-Related Occlusion | Local tirofiban infusion has been reported as a rescue strategy for intracranial atherosclerotic stenosis (ICAS)-related stroke. However, the long-term outcomes of local tirofiban infusion during endovascular reperfusion therapy (ERT) for ICAS-related stroke are still uncertain. This study aimed to investigate the long-term outcomes of local tirofiban infusion during ERT. We retrospectively analyzed acute patients with ICAS-related stroke who were treated with local tirofiban as a rescue strategy during ERT. The primary outcomes were ischemic stroke, transient ischemic stroke (TIA), and stroke-related death within 30 days. Secondary outcomes included ischemic stroke and TIA beyond 30 days and up to 2 years after ERT in the corresponding treated vessel, symptomatic brain hemorrhage, any stroke, and non-stroke-related death. During a median follow-up of 24.0 months, 12 patients developed an ischemic stroke and TIA (4 within 30 days and 8 afterward). The 1-year risk of stroke and TIA was 9.2% (95% confidence interval, 8.0-18.6%). This study demonstrates that 1-year outcomes of local tirofiban infusion were comparable to the results of intracranial stenting in patients with symptomatic ICAS. Local tirofiban infusion for ICAS-related stroke may be a feasible rescue strategy that can have a bridging role until the maximum effect of antiplatelet agents is achieved. | Choi, Woochan; Hwang, Yang-Ha; Kim, Yong-Won | Kyungpook Natl Univ Hosp, Dept Neurol, Daegu 41944, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Sch Med, Dept Neurol, Daegu 41944, South Korea | HWANG, Yang-Ha/F-3068-2013 | 57225111001; 7402311308; 56203298200 | yw.kim23@gmail.com; | BRAIN SCIENCES | BRAIN SCI | 2076-3425 | 12 | 8 | SCIE | NEUROSCIENCES | 2022 | 3.3 | 52.8 | 0.22 | 2025-06-25 | 3 | 3 | tirofiban; intracranial atherosclerotic stenosis; endovascular reperfusion therapy; long-term outcome; reocclusion | ACUTE ISCHEMIC-STROKE; ARTERIAL-STENOSIS; MEDICAL-TREATMENT; REVASCULARIZATION; REOCCLUSION; PREDICTORS; THERAPY; STENT; TRIAL | endovascular reperfusion therapy; intracranial atherosclerotic stenosis; long-term outcome; reocclusion; tirofiban | English | 2022 | 2022-08 | 10.3390/brainsci12081089 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | |||
| ○ | ○ | Article | Pet Insects May Improve Physical Performance and Sleep in Community-Dwelling Frail Elderly People with Chronic Diseases: A Single-Arm Interventional Pilot Study | Purpose: Animal-assisted intervention (AAI) is an effective intervention that improves the mental and physical health. However, few have examined the efficacy of pet insects as a form of AAI for prefrail and frail elderly. This study aimed to ascertain the effects of pet insects on physical performance and psychological health in community-dwelling frail elderly individuals with a chronic disease. Patients and Methods: This study was an 8 week prospective single-arm interventional pilot study that enrolled prefrail and frail community-dwelling adults aged 70 years and older, all of whom had a chronic disease and attended a daycare facility. Pet insects and appropriate equipment were provided, and supporting programs were used to educate participants about how to rear the insects and how to get close to them. Pre-and post-interventional physical and psychological functions were evaluated. Results: A total of 23 subjects (mean age, 82.78 years) were enrolled in the final analysis. The timed up-and-go-test (TUG) was used to measure functional mobility, and grip strength was used as a measure of muscle strength; both showed significant changes after the 8-week intervention (Delta = -0.35 +/- 0.73 sec, P = 0.034; and Delta = 0.73 +/- 0.99 kg, P = 0.002, respectively). In addition, the insomnia severity index (ISI) and average sleep duration improved significantly (Delta = -2.91 +/- 5.64, P = -0.021; and Delta = 0.87 +/- 1.98, P = 0.047, respectively). There were no significant changes in the results of other psychometric tests. Logistic regression analysis using the forward stepwise selection method revealed that the baseline ISI score and the absence of other comorbidities were significantly associated with the probability of positive changes in both the TUG and HS tests after the intervention. Conclusion: Pet insects may be an effective and easily applicable type of AAI, which improves physical function and sleep in prefrail and frail elderly individuals. | Park, Ji-Yeon; Ko, Hae-Jin; Song, Ji-Eun; Ji, Sang -Min; Kim, So-Yun | Kyungpook Natl Univ Hosp, Dept Family Med, Daegu, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Sch Med, Dept Family Med, Daegu, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Dept Family Med, Chilgok Hosp, Daegu, South Korea; Natl Inst Agr Sci, Rural Dev Adm, Dept Agr Biol, Wonju, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ Hosp, 130 Dongdeok Ro, Daegu, South Korea | ; Song, Jieun/LLM-7026-2024 | 57226386288; 54393415700; 57217295366; 58041718800; 56867785100 | liveforme@knu.ac.kr; | CLINICAL INTERVENTIONS IN AGING | CLIN INTERV AGING | 1178-1998 | 17 | SCIE | GERIATRICS & GERONTOLOGY | 2022 | 3.6 | 52.8 | 0 | 2025-06-25 | 0 | 0 | animal -assisted therapy; frail elderly; human -animal interaction; physical functional performance; sleep disorders | INSOMNIA SEVERITY INDEX; COGNITIVE IMPAIRMENT; DEMENTIA; STRESS; ADULTS; GO | animal-assisted therapy; frail elderly; human-animal interaction; physical functional performance; sleep disorders | Aged; Animals; Frail Elderly; Humans; Independent Living; Insecta; Physical Functional Performance; Pilot Projects; Prospective Studies; Sleep; alanine aminotransferase; albumin; aspartate aminotransferase; bilirubin; C reactive protein; calcium; creatinine; gamma glutamyltransferase; hemoglobin A1c; high density lipoprotein cholesterol; lactate dehydrogenase; low density lipoprotein cholesterol; phosphorus; potassium; protein; sodium; thyrotropin; triacylglycerol; aged; animal assisted therapy; Article; blood cell count; cholesterol blood level; chronic disease; clinical article; community dwelling person; comorbidity; erythrocyte sedimentation rate; female; frail elderly; free thyroxine index; glucose blood level; grip strength; health care facility; human; human cell; human-animal interaction; insect; Insomnia Severity Index; intervention study; kidney function test; liver function test; male; mental health; muscle strength; patient mobility; pet animal; physical performance; pilot study; prospective study; psychometry; sleep; sleep disorder; sleep time; thyroid function test; timed up and go test; urea nitrogen blood level; uric acid blood level; very elderly; animal; independent living; insect; sleep | English | 2022 | 2022 | 10.2147/cia.s387603 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | |||
| ○ | ○ | Article | Apoptolidin I: A new glycosylated macrocyclic lactone from wasp gut bacterium, Amycolatopsis sp. | Apoptolidin I (1) was isolated along with previously reported apoptolidin A (2) from Amycolatopsis sp. DW02G, a bacterial strain isolated from the gut of Dolichovespula media media collected from Gwanak Mountain, Republic of Korea. 1 was identified as a new glycosylated macrolide in the apoptolidin family based on NMR spectroscopic, HRMS, and MS/MS data. Compound 1, which lacks the C-16 hydroxyl group of 2, is the first member of the apoptolidin family to possess a 2,6-dideoxy-b-D-arabino-hexopyranose moiety as a part of the disaccharide, instead of D-oleandrose. The full genome analysis of the producer strain DW02G identified the biosynthetic gene cluster responsible for apoptolidin production. The ste-reochemistry of 1 was proposed based on its CD spectrum and ketoreductase sequences relative to those of previously reported 2. The cytotoxicity evaluation of 1 and 2 indicated that the variation in the structure of the disaccharide moiety attached to C-27 could promote the inhibitory activity against cancer cell lines.(c) 2022 Elsevier Ltd. | ○ | ○ | Article | Machine learning-based prediction model for late recurrence after surgery in patients with renal cell carcinoma | Background Renal cell carcinoma is characterized by a late recurrence that occurs 5 years after surgery; hence, continuous monitoring and follow-up is necessary. Prognosis of late recurrence of renal cell carcinoma can only be improved if it is detected early and treated appropriately. Therefore, tools for rapid and accurate renal cell carcinoma prediction are essential. Methods This study aimed to develop a prediction model for late recurrence after surgery in patients with renal cell carcinoma that can be used as a clinical decision support system for the early detection of late recurrence. We used the KOrean Renal Cell Carcinoma database that contains large-scale cohort data of patients with renal cell carcinoma in Korea. From the collected data, we constructed a dataset of 2956 patients for the analysis. Late recurrence and non-recurrence were classified by applying eight machine learning models, and model performance was evaluated using the area under the receiver operating characteristic curve. Results Of the eight models, the AdaBoost model showed the highest performance. The developed algorithm showed a sensitivity of 0.673, specificity of 0.807, accuracy of 0.799, area under the receiver operating characteristic curve of 0.740, and F1-score of 0.609. Conclusions To the best of our knowledge, we developed the first algorithm to predict the probability of a late recurrence 5 years after surgery. This algorithm may be used by clinicians to identify patients at high risk of late recurrence that require long-term follow-up and to establish patient-specific treatment strategies. | Kim, Hyung Min; Byun, Seok-Soo; Kim, Jung Kwon; Jeong, Chang Wook; Kwak, Cheol; Hwang, Eu Chang; Kang, Seok Ho; Chung, Jinsoo; Kim, Yong-June; Ha, Yun-Sok; Hong, Sung-Hoo | Catholic Univ Korea, Coll Med, Dept Med Informat, Seoul 06591, South Korea; Catholic Univ Korea, Coll Med, Dept Biomed & Hlth Sci, Seoul 06591, South Korea; Seoul Natl Univ, Coll Med, Bundang Hosp, Dept Urol, Seongnam 13620, South Korea; Seoul Natl Univ, Seoul Natl Univ Hosp, Coll Med, Dept Urol, Seoul 03080, South Korea; Chonnam Natl Univ, Med Sch, Dept Urol, Gwangju 61469, South Korea; Korea Univ, Sch Med, Dept Urol, Seoul 02841, South Korea; Natl Canc Ctr, Dept Urol, Goyang 10408, South Korea; Chungbuk Natl Univ, Coll Med, Dept Urol, Cheongju 28644, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Chilgok Hosp, Sch Med, Dept Urol, Daegu 41404, South Korea; Catholic Univ, Seoul St Marys Hosp, Coll Med, Dept Urol, Seoul 06591, South Korea | Kwak, Cheol/J-2731-2012; Kim, Sun/C-2026-2011; Kim, Yong-June/E-5622-2012; Hwang, Eu/K-3680-2019 | 57225125053; 7004818488; 36447570600; 8879131000; 7005639032; 8441681300; 7405684686; 16678454900; 26422204800; 35487226400; 37030299600 | toomey@catholic.ac.kr; | BMC MEDICAL INFORMATICS AND DECISION MAKING | BMC MED INFORM DECIS | 1472-6947 | 22 | 1 | SCIE | MEDICAL INFORMATICS | 2022 | 3.5 | 53.2 | 0.97 | 2025-06-25 | 9 | 10 | Renal cell carcinoma; Machine learning; ROC curve; KOrean Renal Cell Carcinoma; Late recurrence | PARTIAL NEPHRECTOMY; KIDNEY CANCER; CLASSIFICATION; OUTCOMES; SEGMENTATION; SURVEILLANCE; MULTICENTER; GUIDELINES; FEATURES; SVM | Late recurrence; Machine learning; Renal cell carcinoma; ROC curve: KOrean Renal Cell Carcinoma | Algorithms; Carcinoma, Renal Cell; Humans; Kidney Neoplasms; Machine Learning; ROC Curve; algorithm; human; kidney tumor; machine learning; receiver operating characteristic; renal cell carcinoma | English | 2022 | 2022-09-13 | 10.1186/s12911-022-01964-w | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | ||
| ○ | ○ | Article | A survey of the perceptions of barriers to and facilitators of cardiac rehabilitation in healthcare providers and policy stakeholders | Background Cardiac rehabilitation (CR) is a prognostic management strategy to help patients with CVD achieve a good quality of life and lower the rates of recurrence, readmission, and premature death from disease. Globally, cardiac rehabilitation is poorly established in hospitals and communities. Hence, this study aimed to investigate the discrepancies in the perceptions of the need for CR programs and relevant health policies between directors of hospitals and health policy personnel in South Korea to shed light on the status and to establish practically superior and effective strategies to promote CR in South Korea. Methods We sent a questionnaire to 592 public health policy managers and directors of selected hospitals, 132 of whom returned a completed questionnaire (response rate: 22.3%). The participants were categorized into five types of organizations depending on their practice of PCI (Percutaneous Coronary Intervention), establishment of cardiac rehabilitation, director of hospital, and government's policy makers. Differences in the opinions between directors of hospitals that perform/do not perform PCI, directors of hospitals with/without cardiac rehabilitation, and between hospital directors and health policy makers were analyzed. Results Responses about targeting diseases for cardiac rehabilitation, patients' roles in cardiac rehabilitation, hospitals' roles in cardiac rehabilitation, and governmental health policies' roles in cardiac rehabilitation were more positive among hospitals that perform PCI than those that do not. Responses to questions about the effectiveness of cardiac rehabilitation and hospitals' roles in cardiac rehabilitation tended to be more positive in hospitals with cardiac rehabilitation than in those without. Hospital directors responded more positively to questions about targeting diseases for cardiac rehabilitation and governmental health policies' roles in cardiac rehabilitation than policy makers, and both hospitals and public organizations provided negative responses to the question about patients' roles in cardiac rehabilitation. Responses to questions about targeting diseases for cardiac rehabilitation, patients' roles in cardiac rehabilitation, and governmental health policies' roles in cardiac rehabilitation were more positive in hospitals that perform PCI than those that do not and public organizations. Conclusions Hospitals must ensure timely referral, provide education, and promote the need for cardiac rehabilitation. In addition, governmental socioeconomic support is needed in a varity of aspects. | Kim, Chul; Hae-Bin Kwak; Sung, Jidong; Han, Jae-Young; Lee, Jang Woo; Lee, Jong Hwa; Kim, Won-Seok; Bang, Heui Je; Baek, Sora; Joa, Kyung Lim; Kim, Ae Ryoung; Lee, So Young; Kim, Jihee; Kim, Chung Reen; Kwon, Oh Pum; Sohn, Min Kyun; Moon, Chang-Won; Lee, Jae-In; Jee, Sungju | Inje Univ, Dept Rehabil Med, Sanggye Paik Hosp, Seoul, South Korea; Chungnam Natl Univ, Chungnam Natl Univ Hosp, Dept Rehabil Med, Coll Med, Daejeon, South Korea; Sungkyunkwan Univ, Dept Med, Div Cardiol, Sch Med, Seoul, South Korea; Chonnam Natl Univ, Chonnam Natl Univ Hosp, Dept Phys Med & Rehabil, Med Sch, Gwangju, South Korea; Ilsan Hosp, Dept Phys Med & Rehabil, Natl Hlth Insurance Serv, Goyang, South Korea; Dong A Univ, Dept Phys Med & Rehabil, Coll Med, Busan, South Korea; Seoul Natl Univ, Coll Med, Dept Rehabil Med, Bundang Hosp, Seongnam, South Korea; Chungbuk Natl Univ, Coll Med, Dept Rehabil Med, Cheongju, South Korea; Kangwon Natl Univ, Dept Rehabil Med, Sch Med, Chunchon, South Korea; Inha Univ Hosp, Dept Phys Med & Rehabil, Incheon, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Kyungpook Natl Univ Hosp, Dept Rehabil Med, Sch Med, Daegu, South Korea; Jeju Natl Univ, Jeju Natl Univ Hosp, Dept Rehabil Med, Coll Med, Jeju, South Korea; Wonkwang Univ, Med Sch, Dept Rehabil Med, Wonkwang Univ Hosp, Iksan, South Korea; Univ Ulsan, Coll Med, Dept Phys Med & Rehabil, Ulsan Univ Hosp, Ulsan, South Korea | ; Han, Jae-Young/AAV-1100-2021; Lee, Jaewon/N-9064-2013; Lee, Jae Min/H-8475-2013; Joa, Kyung-Lim/ABB-3860-2020; , 김원석/AAJ-2334-2020 | 55936526100; 57797784500; 57221027209; 15765035600; 55999572900; 55690046100; 57028735900; 55246577800; 55875523200; 55245910100; 57196257330; 57202327370; 55822889900; 35848509700; 55822295300; 7101840459; 57190976703; 57798938000; 56487143900 | drjeesungju@cnuh.co.kr; | BMC HEALTH SERVICES RESEARCH | BMC HEALTH SERV RES | 1472-6963 | 22 | 1 | SCIE | HEALTH CARE SCIENCES & SERVICES | 2022 | 2.8 | 53.3 | 0.27 | 2025-06-25 | 2 | 2 | Administrative personnel; Awareness; Cardiac rehabilitation; Cardiac infarction; Government stakeholder; Health personnel; Hospital administrator | REFERRAL STRATEGIES; PARTICIPATION; AVAILABILITY | Administrative personnel; Awareness; Cardiac infarction; Cardiac rehabilitation; Government stakeholder; Health personnel; Hospital administrator | Cardiac Rehabilitation; Health Personnel; Health Policy; Humans; Percutaneous Coronary Intervention; Quality of Life; Surveys and Questionnaires; health care personnel; health care policy; heart rehabilitation; human; percutaneous coronary intervention; quality of life; questionnaire; rehabilitation | English | 2022 | 2022-08-05 | 10.1186/s12913-022-08298-3 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | ||
| ○ | ○ | Article | Clinical Results of Drug-Coated Balloon Treatment in a Large-Scale Multicenter Korean Registry Study | Background and Objectives: The aim of this study was to demonstrate the efficacy and safety of treatment with drug-coated balloon (DCB) in a large real-world population. Methods: Patients treated with DCBs were included in a multicenter observational registry that enrolled patients from 18 hospitals in Korea between January 2009 and December 2017. The primary outcome was target lesion failure (TLF) defined as a composite of cardiovascular death, target vessel myocardial infarction, and clinically indicated target lesion revascularization at 12 months. Results: The study included 2,509 patients with 2,666 DCB-treated coronary artery lesions (1,688 [63.3%] with in-stent restenosis [ISR] lesions vs. 978 [36.7%] with de novo lesions). The mean age with standard deviation was 65.7 +/- 11.3 years; 65.7% of the patients were men. At 12 months, the primary outcome, TLF, occurred in 179 (6.7%), 151 (8.9%), 28 (2.9%) patients among the total, ISR, and de novo lesion populations, respectively. A history of hypertension, diabetes, acute coronary syndrome, previous coronary artery bypass graft, reduced left ventricular ejection fraction, B2C lesion and ISR lesion were independent predictors of 12 months TLF in the overall study population. Conclusions: This large multicenter DCB registry study revealed the favorable clinical outcome of DCB treatment in real-world practice in patient with ISR lesion as well as small de novo coronary lesion. | Lee, Sang Yeub; Cho, Yun-Kyeong; Kim, Sang-Wook; Hong, Young-Joon; Koo, Bon-Kwon; Bae, Jang-Whan; Lee, Seung-Hwan; Yang, Tae Hyun; Park, Hun Sik; Choi, Si Wan; Lim, Do-Sun; Kim, Soo-Joong; Jeong, Young Hoon; Lee, Hyun-Jong; Lee, Kwan Yong; Shin, Eun-Seok; Kim, Ung; Kim, Moo Hyun; Nam, Chang-Wook; Hur, Seung-Ho; Kim, Doo-Il | Chung Ang Univ, Coll Med, Gwangmyeong Hosp, Div Cardiol, Gwangmyeong, South Korea; Chung Ang Univ, Coll Med, Dept Internal Med, Gwangmyeong, South Korea; Keimyung Univ, Dept Cardiol, Dongsan Hosp, Daegu, South Korea; Chung Ang Univ, Chung Ang Univ Hosp, Dept Internal Med, Coll Med, Seoul, South Korea; Chonnam Natl Univ, Chonnam Natl Univ Hosp, Dept Internal Med, Coll Med, Gwangju, South Korea; Seoul Natl Univ, Seoul Natl Univ Hosp, Dept Internal Med, Coll Med, Seoul, South Korea; Chungbuk Natl Univ, Chungbuk Natl Univ Hosp, Dept Internal Med, Coll Med, Cheongju, South Korea; Yonsei Univ, Wonju Severance Christian Hosp, Wonju Coll Med, Dept Internal Med, Wonju, South Korea; Inje Univ, Busan Paik Hosp, Dept Internal Med, Coll Med, Busan, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Kyungpook Natl Univ Hosp, Dept Internal Med, Sch Med, Daegu, South Korea; Chungnam Natl Univ, Chungnam Natl Univ Hosp, Dept Internal Med, Coll Med, Daejeon, South Korea; Korea Univ, Anam Hosp, Dept Internal Med, Coll Med, Seoul, South Korea; Kyung Hee Univ, Coll Med, Dept Internal Med, Med Ctr, Seoul, South Korea; Gyeongsang Natl Univ, Changwon Hosp, Dept Internal Med, Sch Med, Chang Won, South Korea; Bucheon Sejong Hosp, Bucheon, South Korea; Incheon St Marys Hosp, Incheon, South Korea; Ulsan Univ, Ulsan Univ Hosp, Dept Internal Med, Coll Med, Ulsan, South Korea; Yeungnam Univ, Med Ctr, Dept Internal Med, Coll Med, Daegu, South Korea; Dong A Univ, Coll Med, Dept Internal Med, Dong Univ Hosp, Busan, South Korea; Inje Univ, Haeundae Baek Hosp, Dept Cardiol, Coll Med, 875 Haeun Daero, Busan 48108, South Korea | Jeong, Young-Hoon/F-3476-2015; Park, Hang-soo/AEH-1640-2022; Kim, Mi Jin/GXH-9639-2022; Koo, Bon-Kwon/J-5374-2012; Lee, Sang Yeub/AEQ-6658-2022; Hong, Young/O-7996-2018; Kim, Sang-Hyun/J-5402-2012; Kim, Yong-Jae/JQW-5758-2023; Lee, Jae/E-6796-2015; 김, 수중/JED-7162-2023; Kim, Jung Kyu/C-3271-2012; Lee, Hyo/G-6299-2019; Kim, Minyeong/JHU-5269-2023; Cho, Young-Seok/J-5670-2012 | 35187345000; 16836104200; 57212300945; 13310329100; 35285769200; 8699381000; 56714956900; 57203376310; 57198844106; 57208291768; 7401816184; 57196229181; 24758957500; 57202973860; 57203317356; 35273651500; 35226439300; 55686265600; 34571810200; 34570274500; 8635545900 | shhur6125@gmail.com;jo1216@inje.ac.kr; | KOREAN CIRCULATION JOURNAL | KOREAN CIRC J | 1738-5520 | 1738-5555 | 52 | 6 | SCIE | CARDIAC & CARDIOVASCULAR SYSTEMS | 2022 | 2.9 | 53.5 | 1.01 | 2025-06-25 | 9 | 9 | Coronary stenosis; Angioplasties; coronary balloon | IN-STENT RESTENOSIS; PACLITAXEL-ELUTING STENTS; OUTCOMES; ANGIOPLASTY; SAFETY | angioplasties, coronary balloon; coronary stenosis | acute coronary syndrome; adult; aged; Article; clinical practice; controlled study; coronary artery obstruction; diabetes mellitus; female; heart death; heart infarction; heart left ventricle ejection fraction; human; hypertension; in-stent restenosis; left anterior descending coronary artery; major clinical study; male; medical record review; middle aged; multicenter study; observational study; outcome assessment; patient history of coronary artery bypass graft; percutaneous coronary intervention; smoking; target lesion revascularization | English | 2022 | 2022-06 | 10.4070/kcj.2021.0261 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | |

| ○ | ○ | Article | Species delimitation and molecular diagnosis of Cyrtomium yamomotoi (Dryopteridaceae) | The genus Cyrtomium is one of the most taxonomically challenging groups, which comprises about 40 taxa globally. Cyrtomium yamamotoi is a great example showing the taxonomic difficulties in the genus. The plant was first described as a variety (C. fortunei var. intermedium), thereafter the rank was moved to a species by Tagawa in 1938. Cyrtomium yamamotoi and its related taxa including five varieties of C. fortunei are triploid apogamous taxa with high morphological variabilities. The substantial morphological variations likely resulted from hybrid origins leading to various taxonomic complications. To determine the species boundary between C. yamamotoi and the C. fortunei complex, we inferred the phylogenetic relationships among the complex and the five related taxa including C. falcatum using the two widely used cpDNA regions, rbcL and psbA-trnH IGS. We also carefully examined the nomenclatural histories of eleven Cyrtomium taxa (five taxa of C. fortunei complex and six related taxa) and the key morphological characters. According to our analysis, Cyrtomium yamamotoi is likely an independent species as the phylogenetic results revealed that C. yamamotoi was separated from the C. fortunei complex while all members of C. fortunei complex formed a monophyletic clade. | Choi, Tae-Young; Son, Dong Chan; Oh, Seung-Hwan; Kim, Dong-Kap; Lee, Kang-Hyup; Lee, Soo-Rang | Chosun Univ, Coll Nat Sci, Dept Biol Educ, 309 Pilmun Daero, Gwangju 61452, South Korea; Korea Natl Arboretum, Forest Biodivers Div, Pocheon Si 11186, Gyeonggi Do, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Coll Agr & Life Sci, Sch Forest Sci & Landscape Architecture, 80 Daehak Ro, Daegu 41556, South Korea; Korea Forest Serv, Forest Environm Conservat Div, 189 Cheongsa Ro, Daejon 35208, South Korea | Son, Dong/AAQ-5465-2020 | 57217736690; 57189465587; 57026695200; 57573851700; 57213678664; 57200314111 | ra1130@chosun.ac.kr; | PLANT SYSTEMATICS AND EVOLUTION | PLANT SYST EVOL | 0378-2697 | 1615-6110 | 308 | 3 | SCIE | EVOLUTIONARY BIOLOGY;PLANT SCIENCES | 2022 | 1.9 | 53.8 | 0.13 | 2025-06-25 | 0 | 1 | cpDNA; Cyrtomium; Cyrtomium fortune; Cyrtomium yamamotoi; Phylogeny | TAXONOMIC DELIMITATION; CHLOROPLAST; APOMIXIS; PHYLOGENY; EVOLUTION; SEQUENCE; FERNS; RBCL | cpDNA; Cyrtomium; Cyrtomium fortune; Cyrtomium yamamotoi; Phylogeny | English | 2022 | 2022-06 | 10.1007/s00606-022-01811-5 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | ||
| ○ | ○ | Article | Capsicum annuum L. cv. DANGJO ameliorated hyperglycemia in type 2 diabetes animal model induced by high-fat diet and streptozotocin | In this study, it was evaluated the effect of freeze-dried powder of Capsicum annuum L. cv. DANGJO (DJ) on ameliorating hyperglycemia in type 2 diabetes rat model induced by high-fat diet (HFD) and streptozotocin (STZ). Oral administration of DJ significantly reduced non-fasting blood glucose (NFBG) and insulin levels, as well as glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) level, a representative marker for diabetes, in HFD/STZ treated rats whereas the administration of green hot pepper (GHP) and green sweet pepper (GSP) did not show the significant effect. Quercitrin was quantified (40.97 mg/100 g of DJ) by HPLC, and administration of the same amount of quercitrin with DJ exerted the significant reduction of blood glucose level, strongly supporting that quercitrin is the key component in ameliorating the hyperglycemia of DJ in HFD/STZ treated rats. These results suggest that DJ can be considered as a potent functional food in preventing hyperglycemia in type 2 diabetes mellitus. | Kim, Jin Tae; Zhou, Yimeng; Qiu, Shuai; Lee, Seung Beom; Park, Ho Jin; Kim, Min Jeong; Jung, Sung Keun; Seo, Eunbin; Kim, Young-Jun; Lee, Hong Jin | Chung Ang Univ, Dept Food Sci & Biotechnol, Anseong 17546, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Sch Food Sci & Biotechnol, Daegu 41566, South Korea; Seoul Natl Univ Sci & Technol, Dept Food Sci & Technol, Seoul 01811, South Korea | ; Jung, SUNG KEUN/AGR-2623-2022; Kim, Jin Man/HJO-8987-2023; Kim, Joo/X-7562-2019 | 57200163432; 57218923138; 57204590855; 57238633200; 57238976500; 57215818497; 35310491400; 57554734000; 57211016047; 35766582000 | jiny-1001@nate.com;zym95@cau.edu.cn;qsly2018@naver.com;lsbeee99@naver.com;1108ghwls@naver.com;minjung8128@gmail.com;skjung04@knu.ac.kr;tjdmsqls95@naver.com;kimyj@seoultech.ac.kr;hongjin@cau.ac.kr; | FOOD SCIENCE AND BIOTECHNOLOGY | FOOD SCI BIOTECHNOL | 1226-7708 | 2092-6456 | 31 | 8 | SCIE | FOOD SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY | 2022 | 2.9 | 53.9 | 0.29 | 2025-06-25 | 4 | 3 | DANGJO; Glycated hemoglobin; Hyperglycemia; Quercitrin; Type 2 diabetes mellitus | ALPHA-GLUCOSIDASE | DANGJO; Glycated hemoglobin; Hyperglycemia; Quercitrin; Type 2 diabetes mellitus | Blood; Flavonoids; Glucose; Hemoglobin; Plants (botany); Animal model; Capsicum annuum L; DANGJO; Glycated hemoglobins; High-fat-diet; Hyperglycaemia; Quercitrin; Streptozotocin; Type 2 diabetes mellitus; Type-2 diabetes; Rats | English | 2022 | 2022-07 | 10.1007/s10068-022-01068-1 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | |
| ○ | ○ | Review | Current perspectives on the beneficial effects of soybean isoflavones and their metabolites on plants | Soybeans have traditionally been a staple part of the human diet being highly rich in protein and lipid content. In an addition to the high nutritional components, soybeans have several functional components, like isoflavones, saponins, lecithin, and oligosaccharides. Soybeans emerge as a healthy functional food option. Isoflavones are most notable functional component of soybeans, exhibiting antioxidant activity while preventing plant-related diseases (e.g., antimicrobial and antiherbivore activities) and having positive effects on the life quality of plants. Isoflavones are thus sometimes referred to as phytochemicals. The latest research trends evince substantial interest in the biological efficacy of isoflavones in the human body as well as in plants and their related mechanisms. However, there is little information on the relationship between isoflavones and plants than beneficial human effects. This review discusses what is known about the physiological communication (transport and secretion) between isoflavones and plants, especially in soybeans. | Kim, Il-Sup | Kyungpook Natl Univ, Adv Bioresource Res Ctr, Daegu 41566, South Korea | 55477678200 | 92kis@hanmail.net; | FOOD SCIENCE AND BIOTECHNOLOGY | FOOD SCI BIOTECHNOL | 1226-7708 | 2092-6456 | 31 | 5 | SCIE | FOOD SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY | 2022 | 2.9 | 53.9 | 0.79 | 2025-06-25 | 21 | 24 | Soybean-derived isoflavone; Plant; Rhizobium; Symbiotic interaction; Environmental adaptation | BETA-GLUCOSIDASE; INVOLVEMENT; GENISTEIN; SOY; ESTABLISHMENT; GLYCEOLLIN; FLAVONOIDS; TRANSPORT; PATHWAY; SYSTEM | Environmental adaptation; Plant; Rhizobium; Soybean-derived isoflavone; Symbiotic interaction | Metabolites; Nutrition; 'current; Beneficial effects; Environmental adaptation; Functional components; Isoflavones; Plant; Rhizobium; Soybean isoflavone; Soybean-derived isoflavone; Symbiotic interaction; Flavonoids | English | 2022 | 2022-05 | 10.1007/s10068-022-01070-7 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | ||
| ○ | ○ | Article | Microbiological contamination of fresh-cut produce in Korea | This study evaluated the microbiological contamination of fresh-cut produce in Korea. A total of 108 fresh-cut vegetables and fruits were surveyed for the aerobic mesophilic (AM) count, aerobic psychrophilic (AP) count, total coliform, generic Escherichia coli, yeast and mold, and foodborne pathogens. AM counts ranged from 1.00 to 7.36 log CFU/g, and AP counts showed very similar results as AM counts. For total coliform and generic E. coli, 53.7% and 9.3% of the samples were detected, respectively. For foodborne pathogens, none of the samples were identified as E. coli O157:H7 or Salmonella spp. However, S. aureus and B. cereus was detected in 5.6% and 6.5% of the samples, respectively. Although the contamination level has varied widely, samples with high bacterial counts, such as julienned green onion, bell pepper, carrot, and mixed sprout, should be implemented with strict control measures. | Kim, Myung-Ji; Cheigh, Chan-Ick | Kyungpook Natl Univ, Dept Food & Food Serv Ind, Sangju 37131, South Korea | Kim, Myungji/KFB-8192-2024 | 57219738071; 6506587023 | myung751@naver.com;cic@knu.ac.kr; | FOOD SCIENCE AND BIOTECHNOLOGY | FOOD SCI BIOTECHNOL | 1226-7708 | 2092-6456 | 31 | 1 | SCIE | FOOD SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY | 2022 | 2.9 | 53.9 | 0.76 | 2025-06-25 | 6 | 8 | Fresh-cut; Minimally processed food; Microbiological contamination; Foodborne pathogen; E. coli O157: H7 | VEGETABLES; QUALITY; SPROUTS; SAFETY; RETAIL; FRUITS; SALMONELLA; PATHOGENS; JUICES; SOLD | E. coli O157:H7; Foodborne pathogen; Fresh-cut; Microbiological contamination; Minimally processed food | Escherichia coli; Food microbiology; Pathogens; E. coli; E.coli O157:H7; Food-borne pathogens; Fresh-cut; Mesophilic; Microbiological contaminations; Minimally processed foods; Salmonella spp; Total coliforms; Vegetables and fruits; Contamination | English | 2022 | 2022-01 | 10.1007/s10068-021-01014-7 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | |
| ○ | ○ | Review | Research trends of integrative technology education in South Korea: a literature review of journal papers | The purpose of this study is to identify trends of integrative approach in South Korean technology education. A literature review was completed from 131 selected research journal papers published in South Korean academic databases from 2010 to 2018. The review identified four trends. First, research on technology education within STEAM education has steadily increased since 2010, with student-targeted studies comprising the largest share. Second, program development and implementation type was the most frequent regarding the research types. Third, the analysis of school subjects integrated with technology for integrative approach in South Korean technology education showed the most links to science. Fourth, invention was the most common focus in analysis of the content area of technology education, while creation constituted the most common core concept of the new Korean national curriculum. The results of this study shed light on the place of technology education within STEAM education in South Korea and has implications for research and practice for integrative STEAM education in future Korean technology education. | Lee, Hyonyong; Ham, Hyungin; Kwon, Hyuksoo | Kyungpook Natl Univ, Dept Earth Sci Educ, Daegu, South Korea; Suwanhana Middle Sch, Gwangju, South Korea; Kongju Natl Univ, Dept Technol & Home Econ Educ, Gongju, South Korea | Kwon, Hyuksoo/AAE-9734-2019 | 8397744800; 57219254208; 25654973700 | hlee@knu.ac.kr;hhi9237@nate.com;hskwon@kongju.ac.kr; | INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF TECHNOLOGY AND DESIGN EDUCATION | INT J TECHNOL DES ED | 0957-7572 | 1573-1804 | 32 | 2 | SSCI;SCIE | EDUCATION & EDUCATIONAL RESEARCH;EDUCATION, SCIENTIFIC DISCIPLINES;ENGINEERING, MULTIDISCIPLINARY | 2022 | 2.1 | 53.9 | 0.38 | 2025-06-25 | 3 | 3 | Integrative technology education; STEAM; Research; Trends | TEACHER-EDUCATION; STEM EDUCATION; PERCEPTIONS; PRESERVICE | Integrative technology education; Research; STEAM; Trends | Design; Education; Integrative technology; Journal paper; Literature reviews; Program development; Research journals; Research trends; South Korea; Technology education; Engineering education | English | 2022 | 2022-04 | 10.1007/s10798-020-09625-7 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | |
| ○ | ○ | Article | Resveratrol analogue, HS-1793, inhibits inflammatory mediator release from macrophages by interfering with the TLR4 mediated NF-κB activation | Resveratrol is known to have anti-inflammatory properties. However, high-dose resveratrol is required for optimal anti-inflammatory effects. HS-1793 is a derivative designed to be metabolically stable and more effective than resveratrol. We tested whether HS-1793 also has anti-inflammatory activity. HS-1793 effectively inhibited the mRNA and protein expression of lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) and cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) in macrophages. Therefore, the production of nitric oxide (NO) and prostaglandin E-2 (PGE(2)) was significantly attenuated. In addition, HS-1793 completely suppressed the production of inflammatory cytokines enhanced by LPS treatment along with a decrease in Toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4) expression. At the same time, the expression of myeloid differentiation factor 88 (MyD88), IL-1 receptor-associated kinase 1 (IRAK1), and TNF receptor-associated factor 6 (TRAF6) signaling molecules and the nuclear translocation of nuclear factor kappa B (NF-kappa B)/p65 were also downregulated. We conclusively suggest that HS-1793 also exhibits anti-inflammatory properties by effectively inhibiting TLR4-mediated NF-kappa B activation. | Jo, Wol Soon; Kim, Sung Dae; Jeong, Soo Kyung; Oh, Su Jung; ParK, Moon Taek; Lee, Chang Geun; Kang, Young-Rok; Jeong, Min Ho | Dongnam Inst Radiol & Med Sci, Dept Res Ctr, Jwadong Gil 40, Busan 46033, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Coll Vet Med, Dept Vet Med, Daehak Ro 80, Daegu 41566, South Korea; Dong A Univ, Dept Microbiol, Coll Med, Daeshingongwon Gil 32, Busan 49236, South Korea | 27168420300; 55156746000; 36086263600; 54682218500; 7404490344; 17137195400; 57542731000; 57196873042 | sailorjo@dirams.re.kr;kim79sd@knu.ac.kr;soo87@dirams.re.kr;osj10050@dirams.re.kr;mtpark@dirams.re.kr;cglee@dirams.re.kr;yeongrok@dirams.re.kr;mhjeong@dau.ac.kr; | FOOD SCIENCE AND BIOTECHNOLOGY | FOOD SCI BIOTECHNOL | 1226-7708 | 2092-6456 | 31 | 4 | SCIE | FOOD SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY | 2022 | 2.9 | 53.9 | 0.67 | 2025-06-25 | 9 | 7 | Resveratrol analogue; HS-1793; Macrophage; Anti-inflammation; TLR4; NF-kappa B | CANCER-CELLS | Anti-inflammation; HS-1793; Macrophage; Resveratrol analogue; TLR4·NF-κB | Chemical activation; Nitric oxide; Resveratrol; Anti-inflammation; Anti-inflammatories; High dose; HS-1793; Inflammatory mediators; Inflammatory properties; Lipopolysaccharides; Resveratrol analog; Toll-like receptor 4; Toll-like receptor 4·NF-κb; Macrophages | English | 2022 | 2022-04 | 10.1007/s10068-022-01052-9 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | ||
