| ○ | ○ | Article | A randomized multicenter clinical evaluation of sequential application of 0.3% and 0.15% hyaluronic acid for treatment of dry eye | Purpose We report the clinical efficacy of sequential applications of 0.3% and 0.15% unpreserved hyaluronic acid (HA) for the treatment of dry eye disease (DED). Study design Randomized clinical trial. Methods Patients over 19 years of age with DED level 2 or higher, corneal fluorescein staining (CFS) score > 1, and tear break-up time (TBUT) = 50% improvement at 8 weeks) were significantly higher than those of the 0.15% and 0.3% groups (p = 0.037). At 4 and 8 weeks, blurring after application in both the 0.3% and combination groups was significantly higher than in the 0.15% group, despite no difference between the 0.3% and combination groups. There were no differences in CFS and conjunctival staining score, TBUT, or OSDI within the three groups at baseline, 4 weeks, and 8 weeks. Conclusions Sequential application of 0.3% and 0.15% HA improved symptoms/signs in moderate to severe DED patients. | Jun, Jong Hwa; Bang, Seung Pil; Park, Han Sang; Yoon, Donghee; Ahn, Ja Young; Kim, Seong Jae; Kim, Hong Kyun | Keimyung Univ, Dept Ophthalmol, Sch Med, Daegu, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ Hosp, Dept Ophthalmol, Daegu, South Korea; Gyeongsang Natl Univ, Dept Ophthalmol, Sch Med, Jinju, South Korea; Gyeongsang Natl Univ, Inst Hlth Sci, Sch Med, Jinju, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Sch Med, Dept Ophthalmol, 130 Dongdeok Ro, Daegu 41944, South Korea | Bang, Seung Pil/LNR-3868-2024 | 25643855300; 57193751212; 57208186456; 57201671265; 57202027018; 55578336500; 57218260940 | okeye@knu.ac.kr; | JAPANESE JOURNAL OF OPHTHALMOLOGY | JPN J OPHTHALMOL | 0021-5155 | 1613-2246 | 66 | 1 | SCIE | OPHTHALMOLOGY | 2022 | 2.4 | 47.6 | 1.03 | 2025-06-25 | 4 | 5 | Combination; Dry eye disease; Hyaluronic acid; Sequential | SODIUM HYALURONATE; HYDROXYPROPYL GUAR; ARTIFICIAL TEAR; EFFICACY; EYEDROPS; DISEASE; DROPS; CARBOXYMETHYLCELLULOSE; 0.18-PERCENT; 0.1-PERCENT | Combination; Dry eye disease; Hyaluronic acid; Sequential | Conjunctiva; Dry Eye Syndromes; Humans; Hyaluronic Acid; Ophthalmic Solutions; Tears; hyaluronic acid; newhyaluni; eye drops; hyaluronic acid; adult; aged; Article; blurred vision; clinical evaluation; clinical outcome; controlled study; drug efficacy; dry eye; female; human; major clinical study; male; multicenter study; randomized controlled trial; very elderly; clinical trial; conjunctiva; dry eye; lacrimal fluid | English | 2022 | 2022-01 | 10.1007/s10384-021-00885-x | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | |
| ○ | ○ | Review | Aquaporin-5 in breast cancer | The water channel aquaporin-5 (AQP5) is essential in transepithelial water transport in secretory glands. AQP5 is ectopically overexpressed in breast cancer, where expression is associated with lymph node metastasis and poor prognosis. Besides the role in water transport, AQP5 has been found to play a role in cancer metastasis, migration, and proliferation. AQP5 has also been shown to be involved in the dysregulation of epithelial cell-cell adhesion; frequently observed in cancers. Insight into the underlying molecular mechanisms of how AQP5 contributes to cancer development and progression is essential for potentially implementing AQP5 as a prognostic biomarker and to develop targeted intervention strategies for the treatment of breast cancer patients. | Bystrup, Malte; Login, Frederic H.; Edamana, Sarannya; Borgquist, Signe; Tramm, Trine; Kwon, Tae-Hwan; Nejsum, Lene N. | Aarhus Univ, Dept Clin Med, DK-8200 Aarhus N, Denmark; Aarhus Univ, Dept Mol Biol & Genet, Aarhus C, Denmark; Aarhus Univ Hosp, Dept Oncol, Aarhus N, Denmark; Lund Univ, Dept Oncol, Clin Sci, Lund, Sweden; Aarhus Univ Hosp, Dept Pathol, Aarhus N, Denmark; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Sch Med, Dept Biochem & Cell Biol, Taegu, South Korea | ; Kwon, Tae-Hwan/ABA-1981-2020 | 58256641200; 15755818700; 57223294782; 8920632800; 35206589000; 7202206089; 57203420013 | nejsum@clin.au.dk; | APMIS | APMIS | 0903-4641 | 1600-0463 | 130 | 5 | SCIE | IMMUNOLOGY;MICROBIOLOGY;PATHOLOGY | 2022 | 2.8 | 48.0 | 0.61 | 2025-06-25 | 12 | 11 | aquaporin-5; biomarker; breast cancer; carcinoma; migration; proliferation | WATER CHANNEL PROTEIN; SALIVARY-GLANDS; ABNORMAL DISTRIBUTION; AQP5; EXPRESSION; LUNG; MICE; OVEREXPRESSION; PROLIFERATION; LOCALIZATION | aquaporin-5; biomarker; breast cancer; carcinoma; migration; proliferation | Aquaporin 5; Breast Neoplasms; Cell Adhesion; Female; Humans; Lymphatic Metastasis; Water; aquaporin; aquaporin 5; aquaporin 5; water; breast cancer; cancer cell; cancer growth; cancer prognosis; cell adhesion; cell invasion; cell migration; cell proliferation; epithelium cell; human; metastasis; molecular pathology; nonhuman; pathophysiology; protein expression; protein function; protein localization; Review; breast tumor; female; genetics; lymph node metastasis; metabolism; pathology | English | 2022 | 2022-05 | 10.1111/apm.13212 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | |
| ○ | ○ | Article | Exploration of Mycobiota in Cypripedium japonicum, an Endangered Species | Orchids live with mycorrhizal fungi in mutualism. This symbiotic relationship plays an essential role in the overall life cycle of orchids from germination, growth, settlement, and reproduction. Among the 1000 species of the orchid, the Korean lady's slipper, Cypripedium japonicum, is known as an endangered species. Currently, only five natural habitats of the Korean lady's slipper remain in South Korea, and the population of Korean lady's slipper in their natural habitat is not increasing. To prevent extinction, this study was designed to understand the fungal community interacting in the rhizosphere of the Korean lady's slipper living in the native and artificial habitats. In-depth analyses were performed to discover the vital mycorrhizal fungi contributing to habitat expansion and cultivation of the endangered orchid species. Our results suggested that Lycoperdon nigrescens contributed most to the increase in natural habitats and Russula violeipes as a characteristic of successful cultivation. And the fungi that helped L. nigrescens and R. violeipes to fit into the rhizosphere community in Korean lady's slipper native place were Paraboeremia selaginellae and Metarhizium anisopliae, respectively. The findings will contribute to restoring and maintaining the endangered orchid population in natural habitats. | Cho, Gyeongjun; Gang, Geun-Hye; Jung, Hee-Young; Kwak, Youn-Sig | Gyeongsang Natl Univ, Res Inst Life Sci, Jinju, South Korea; Korea Natl Pk Serv, Species Restorat Technol Inst, Muju, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Sch Appl Biosci, Daegu, South Korea; Gyeongsang Natl Univ, Dept Plant Med, Jinju, South Korea | 57194227149; 58409865000; 7403029383; 26638804500 | heeyoung@knu.ac.kr;kwak@gnu.ac.kr; | MYCOBIOLOGY | MYCOBIOLOGY | 1229-8093 | 2092-9323 | 50 | 2 | SCIE | AGRONOMY;MYCOLOGY | 2022 | 1.9 | 48.3 | 0.31 | 2025-06-25 | 2 | 3 | Microbial community; rhizosphere; mycorrhiza; symbiosis | Microbial community; mycorrhiza; rhizosphere; symbiosis | English | 2022 | 2022-03-04 | 10.1080/12298093.2022.2064409 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | ||||
| ○ | ○ | Article | Fungal Load of Groundwater Systems in Geographically Segregated Islands: A Step Forward in Fungal Control | The fungal distribution, diversity, and load were analyzed in the geographically segregated island groundwater systems in Korea. A total of 79 fungal isolates were secured from seven islands and identified based on the internal transcribed spacer (ITS) sequences. They belonged to three phyla (Ascomycota, Basidiomycota, and Chlorophyta), five classes, sixteen orders, twenty-two families, and thirty-one genera. The dominant phylum was Ascomycota (91.1%), with most fungi belonging to the Cladosporium (21.5%), Aspergillus (15.2%), and Stachybotrys (8.9%) genera. Cladosporium showed higher dominance and diversity, being widely distributed throughout the geographically segregated groundwater systems. Based on the diversity indices, the genera richness (4.821) and diversity (2.550) were the highest in the groundwater system of the largest scale. As turbidity (0.064-0.462) increased, the overall fungal count increased and the residual chlorine (0.089-0.308) had low relevance compared with the total count and fungal diversity. Cladosporium showed normal mycelial growth in de-chlorinated sterilized samples. Overall, if turbidity increases under higher fungal diversity, bio-deterioration in groundwater-supplying facilities and public health problems could be intensified, regardless of chlorine treatment. In addition to fungal indicators and analyzing methods, physical hydrostatic treatment is necessary for monitoring and controlling fungal contamination. | Cho, Joong Hee; Jun, Nam Soo; Park, Jong Myong; Bang, Ki In; Hong, Ji Won | Water Qual Res Inst, Waterworks Headquarters Incheon Metropolitan City, Incheon, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Dept Hydrogen & Renewable Energy, Daegu, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Adv Bioresource Res Ctr, Daegu, South Korea | ; Park, Jong Myong/D-5535-2014 | 57912725600; 57912943600; 54382161000; 57913800900; 57201579963 | mt73@korea.kr;jwhong@knu.ac.kr; | MYCOBIOLOGY | MYCOBIOLOGY | 1229-8093 | 2092-9323 | 50 | 5 | SCIE | AGRONOMY;MYCOLOGY | 2022 | 1.9 | 48.3 | 0.1 | 2025-06-25 | 1 | 1 | Drinking water safety; fungal diversity; groundwater; water purification | STACHYBOTRYS-CHARTARUM; CHLORINE DIOXIDE; CLUSTAL-W; INACTIVATION; MYCOTOXINS; DIVERSITY; EXPOSURE; SPORES; MOLD | Drinking water safety; fungal diversity; groundwater; water purification | English | 2022 | 2022-09-03 | 10.1080/12298093.2022.2123549 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | ||
| ○ | ○ | Article | Gene Expression Analyses of Mutant Flammulina velutipes (Enokitake Mushroom) with Clogging Phenomenon | Regulation of proper gene expression is important for cellular and organismal survival, maintenance, and growth. Abnormal gene expression, even for a single critical gene, can thwart cellular integrity and normal physiology to cause diseases, aging, and death. Therefore, gene expression profiling serves as a powerful tool to understand the pathology of diseases and to cure them. In this study, the difference in gene expression in Flammulina velutipes was compared between the wild type (WT) mushroom and the mutant one with clogging phenomenon. Differentially expressed transcripts were screened to identify the candidate genes responsible for the mutant phenotype using the DNA microarray analysis. A total of 88 genes including 60 upregulated and 28 downregulated genes were validated using the real-time quantitative PCR analysis. In addition, proteomic differences between the WT and mutant mushroom were analyzed using two-dimensional gel electrophoresis and matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization-time of flight (MALDI-TOF). Interestingly, the genes identified by these genomic and proteomic analyses were involved in stress response, translation, and energy/sugar metabolism, including HSP70, elongation factor 2, and pyruvate kinase. Together, our data suggest that the aberrant expression of these genes attributes to the mutant clogging phenotype. We propose that these genes can be targeted to foster normal growth in F. velutipes. | Woo, Ju-Ri; Choi, Doo-Ho; Hamza, Muhammed Taofiq; Doh, Kyung-Oh; Lee, Chang-Yoon; Choo, Yeon-Sik; Lee, Sangman; Kim, Jong-Guk; Bunch, Heeyoun; Seu, Young-Bae | Kyungpook Natl Univ, Sch Life Sci & Biotechnol, Daegu, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Coll Agr & Life Sci, Dept Appl Biosci, Daegu, South Korea; Yeungnam Univ, Coll Med, Dept Physiol, Daegu, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Coll Natl Sci, Dept Biol, Daegu, South Korea | ; Bunch, Heeyoun/JAX-3215-2023 | 55265148800; 57211275161; 57223415932; 8964707800; 57895296200; 26040458100; 56912041600; 35277198800; 56336812200; 6602236684 | heeyounbunch@gmail.com;ybseu@knu.ac.kr; | MYCOBIOLOGY | MYCOBIOLOGY | 1229-8093 | 2092-9323 | 50 | 5 | SCIE | AGRONOMY;MYCOLOGY | 2022 | 1.9 | 48.3 | 0.31 | 2025-06-25 | 3 | 3 | Flammulina velutipes; clogging phenomenon; gene expression profiling | GEL-BASED PROTEOMICS; METABOLIC-CHANGES; PROTEINS; CDNA; SEQUENCE; MYCELIA; COLD | clogging phenomenon; Flammulina velutipes; gene expression profiling | English | 2022 | 2022-09-03 | 10.1080/12298093.2022.2121497 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | ||
| ○ | ○ | Article | High reliability and accuracy of dynamic magnetic resonance imaging in the diagnosis of cervical Spondylotic myelopathy: a multicenter study | Background: Cervical spondylotic myelopathy (CSM) is a critical condition that results in significant neurologic deterioration. An accurate diagnosis is essential for determining its outcome and prognosis. The pathology is strongly associated with dynamic factors; therefore, dynamic magnetic resonance (MR) image could be crucial to accurately detect CSM. However, very few studies have evaluated the reliability and accuracy of dynamic MR in CSM. In this study, we aimed to compare intra- and interobserver reliabilities and accuracy of dynamic MR in detecting CSM using sagittal MR scans of the neck in the flexed, neutral, and extended position. Methods: Out of 131 patients who underwent surgical treatments for CSM, 107 were enrolled in this study. The patient underwent three-types of sagittal MR scans that were obtained separately in different neck positions (neutral, flexion, and extension postures). The MR scans of the cervical spine were evaluated independently by three spine professionals, on the basis of tabled questionnaires. For accuracy, we performed a receiver operator characteristic analysis, and the overall discriminating ability of each method was measured by calculating the area under the ROC curve. The Cohen's kappa coefficient and the Fleiss-generalized kappa coefficient was used to the inter- and intra-observer reliabilities. Results: The intraobserver reliability (using the Cohen's kappa coefficient) and interobserver reliability (using the Fless kappa coefficient) were respectively 0.64 and 0.52 for the neutral sagittal MR. The accuracy of neutral sagittal MR in detecting CSM was 0.735 (95% CI, 0.720 to 0.741) while that of extension sagittal MRI was 0.932 (96% CI, 0.921 to 0.948). Conclusions: Dynamic MR significantly showed better diagnostic reliability and accuracy in detecting CSM compared to conventional MR. In particular, extension MR scans could provide a more accurate diagnosis than other images. | Park, Wook-Tae; Min, Woo-Kie; Shin, Ji-Hoon; Ko, Sang-Bong; Son, Eun-Seok; Kim, Jiyoun; Jang, Jihoon; Lee, Gun Woo | Yeungnam Univ, Med Ctr, Yeungnam Univ Coll Med, Dept Orthoped Surg, 170 Hyonchung Ro, Daegu 42415, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ Hosp, Dept Orthoped Surg, Kyungpook Natl Univeristy, 130 Dongdeok Ro, Daegu 41944, South Korea; Pohang Semyeng Christianity Hosp, Dept Orthoped Surg, 94-5 Daedo Dong, Pohang 37816, Gyeonsangbuk Do, South Korea; Daegu Catholic Univ, Daegu Catholic Univ Hosp, Dept Orthoped Surg, 33 Duryugongwon Ro 17-Gil, Daemyeong Dong, Daegu 42472, South Korea; Keimyung Univ, Dongsan Med Ctr, Dept Orthoped Surg, 1035 Dalgubeol Daero, Sindang Dong, Daegu 42601, South Korea; Kosin Univ, Gospel Hosp, Dept Orthoped Surg, 262 Gamcheon Ro, Pusan 49267, South Korea | 57216658028; 8548041000; 59880713000; 36741770100; 38663387700; 57734029000; 58023000700; 55599978600 | gwlee1871@gmail.com; | BMC MUSCULOSKELETAL DISORDERS | BMC MUSCULOSKEL DIS | 1471-2474 | 23 | 1 | SCIE | ORTHOPEDICS;RHEUMATOLOGY | 2022 | 2.3 | 48.3 | 0.85 | 2025-06-25 | 5 | 6 | Cervical spondylotic myelopathy (CSM); Cervical spine; Diagnosis; Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI); Dynamic; Reliability; Accuracy | SPINE DISEASE; EXTENSION; FLEXION; ANTERIOR; CORD | Accuracy; Cervical spine; Cervical spondylotic myelopathy (CSM); Diagnosis; Dynamic; Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI); Reliability | Cervical Vertebrae; Humans; Magnetic Resonance Imaging; Reproducibility of Results; Spinal Cord Diseases; Spondylosis; adult; aged; Article; cervical spine radiography; cervical spondylotic myelopathy; diagnostic accuracy; diagnostic test accuracy study; diagnostic value; dynamic magnetic resonance imaging; female; human; image analysis; intermethod comparison; interrater reliability; intrarater reliability; major clinical study; male; multicenter study; nuclear magnetic resonance imaging; cervical vertebra; clinical trial; nuclear magnetic resonance imaging; procedures; reproducibility; spinal cord disease; spondylosis | English | 2022 | 2022-12-20 | 10.1186/s12891-022-06097-9 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | |||
| ○ | ○ | Article | Molecular and Morphological Characteristics of a New Species Collected from an Insect (Cicindela transbaicalica) in Korea | To exploit insect-derived fungi, insects were collected from seven different regions in Korea, including Gyeongbuk, Goryeong, and several fungi were isolated from them. A fungal strain designated 21-64-D was isolated from riparian tiger beetle (Cicindela transbaicalica) and morphologically identified as a species belonging to the genus Oidiodendron. Phylogenetic analysis using the nucleotide sequences of internal transcribed spacer (ITS) regions and the partial sequence of the large subunit of the nuclear ribosomal RNA (LSU) gene revealed the distinct phylogenetic position of the isolate among recognized Oidiodendron species including its closest neighbors O. chlamydosporicum, O. citrinum, O. maius, and O. pilicola. The hyphal and conidial morphology of the strain, particularly club-shaped hyphae, clearly differentiated it from its close relatives. Results indicated that 21-64-D is a novel species in the genus Oidiodendron, for which the name Oidiodendron clavatum sp. nov. is proposed. | Lee, Ju-Heon; Ten, Leonid N.; Lim, Seong-Keun; Ryu, Jung-Joo; Avalos-Ruiz, Diane; Lee, Seung-Yeol; Jung, Hee-Young | Kyungpook Natl Univ, Coll Agr & Life Sci, Daegu, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Inst Plant Med, Daegu, South Korea | ; Ten, Leonid/P-7941-2014 | 57735778800; 6603039265; 57756003900; 57226333274; 57755672100; 56106499600; 7403029383 | heeyoung@knu.ac.kr; | MYCOBIOLOGY | MYCOBIOLOGY | 1229-8093 | 2092-9323 | 50 | 3 | SCIE | AGRONOMY;MYCOLOGY | 2022 | 1.9 | 48.3 | 0.31 | 2025-06-25 | 4 | 4 | Oidiodendron; Cicindela transbaicalica; taxonomy; phylogeny | OIDIODENDRON | Cicindela transbaicalica; Oidiodendron; phylogeny; taxonomy | English | 2022 | 2022-05-04 | 10.1080/12298093.2022.2080333 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | ||
| ○ | ○ | Article | Molecular and Morphological Characterization of Two Novel Species from Soil and Beetles (Dorcus titanus castanicolor) in Korea | Two fungal strains belonging to Ascomycota were discovered in Gyeonggi-do, Korea, during this investigation of soil microfungi and microbiota of insects. The strain KNUF-20-047 produced milky white on the back and a milky creamy center to white toward the margin on the front side of colonies. Conversely, the closest Xenoacremonium falcatus displayed a pale luteous to luteous center, white toward margins on the front side, and pale luteous or luteous pigment on the back side, whereas X. recifei produced white colonies. The conidiophores of KNUF-20-047 were slightly larger than those of X. falcatus, and the conidia were distinct from X. recifei. Strain KNUF-20-NI-005 produced light brown to subhyaline conidiophores up to 56.0 mu m tall, whereas Rhinocladiella anceps displayed golden to dark brown conidiophores up to 350 mu m. Strain KNUF-20-NI-005 also produced larger conidia than R. anceps but smaller than R. coryli and R. fasciculata. Moreover, the molecular phylogeny strongly supports the detailed description and illustration of each proposed species to be designated as Xenoacremonium minutisporum sp. nov. and Rhinocladiella terrigenum sp. nov. in Korea. | Vanna, Roeun; Esther, Kallol; Das, Kallol; Lee, Seung-Yeol; Jung, Hee-Young | Kyungpook Natl Univ, Coll Agr & Life Sci, Daegu, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Inst Plant Med, Daegu, South Korea | ; Das, Kallol/AAR-6707-2020 | 58065226700; 58023751400; 57203751520; 56106499600; 7403029383 | leesy1123@knu.ac.kr;heeyoung@knu.ac.kr; | MYCOBIOLOGY | MYCOBIOLOGY | 1229-8093 | 2092-9323 | 50 | 6 | SCIE | AGRONOMY;MYCOLOGY | 2022 | 1.9 | 48.3 | 0.21 | 2025-06-25 | 3 | 3 | Morphology; phylogeny; Rhinocladiella terrigenum; Xenoacremonium minutisporum | GENERA; CHROMOBLASTOMYCOSIS; RAMICHLORIDIUM; SYSTEMATICS; TAXONOMY; FUNGI | Morphology; phylogeny; Rhinocladiella terrigenum; Xenoacremonium minutisporum | English | 2022 | 2022-11-02 | 10.1080/12298093.2022.2149927 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | ||
| ○ | ○ | Article | Treatment of Critical-Sized Bone Defects Involving the Ankle Joints: Staged Tibiotalocalcaneal Arthrodesis With Induced Membrane Technique and Intramedullary Nail | Objectives: To report the outcomes of staged tibiotalocalcaneal (TTC) arthrodesis for critical-sized bone defects involving the ankle joints. Design: Retrospective review of case series. Setting: Two academic Level 1 trauma centers. Patients/Participants: The study included 20 patients with critical-sized (>= 2 cm) segmental bone defects around the ankle joints. Intervention: Staged TTC arthrodesis was performed with induced membrane technique and retrograde intramedullary nail. Three patients (15%) were treated with repeated bone grafting and additional plating. The average time to union and leg length discrepancy were 10 months (range: 5-21) and 9 mm (range: 0-31), respectively. The mean foot and ankle outcome score and American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society ankle-hindfoot score were 63 (range: 52-71) and 74 (range: 64-81), respectively. Conclusions: Staged TTC arthrodesis with induced membrane technique and intramedullary nail can be an effective treatment method for critical-sized bone defects involving the ankle joints. | Choi, Wonseok; Park, Kyeong-Hyeon; Oh, Chang-Wug; Kim, Joon-Woo; Son, Whee Sung; Cho, Jae-Woo; Abdel-Baki, Sharkawy Wagih; Oh, Jong-Keon | Korea Univ, Sch Med, Dept Orthoped Surg, Guro Hosp, Seoul, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Chilgok Hosp, Sch Med, Dept Orthoped Surg, 807 Hoguk Ro, Daegu 41404, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Kyungpook Natl Univ Hosp, Sch Med, Dept Orthoped Surg, Daegu, South Korea; Aswan Univ, Aswan Univ Hosp, Dept Orthopaed Surg, Fac Med, Aswan, Egypt | Oh, Chang-Wug/AAO-4602-2021; Park, KyeongHyeon/KEH-4919-2024; Choi, Wonseok/AFR-9705-2022 | 57196017662; 56969984400; 22135834200; 22951329000; 57222197894; 34969104500; 57246368300; 7402155046 | ospkh@knu.ac.kr; | JOURNAL OF ORTHOPAEDIC TRAUMA | J ORTHOP TRAUMA | 0890-5339 | 1531-2291 | 36 | 9 | SCIE | ORTHOPEDICS;SPORT SCIENCES | 2022 | 2.3 | 48.3 | 0.1 | 2025-06-25 | 1 | 1 | bone defect; tibiotalocalcaneal arthrodesis; induced membrane technique | LONG SEGMENTAL DEFECT; TITANIUM MESH CAGE; MANAGEMENT; RECONSTRUCTION; TRANSPORT; COMPLICATIONS; FRACTURES | bone defect; induced membrane technique; tibiotalocalcaneal arthrodesis | Ankle Joint; Arthrodesis; Bone Nails; Fracture Fixation, Intramedullary; Humans; Retrospective Studies; Tibia; Treatment Outcome; antibiotic agent; poly(methyl methacrylate); adult; aged; American Orthopedic Foot and Ankle Society ankle hindfoot score; ankle; arthrodesis; bone defect; bone graft; bone transplantation; chronic osteomyelitis; clinical article; controlled study; female; fluoroscopy; fracture healing; human; intraoperative period; leg length inequality; male; membrane; osteolysis; outcome assessment; retrospective study; Review; scoring system; surgical debridement; surgical technique; talocalcaneal angle; tibia fracture; tibial shaft; tibiotalar angle; adverse event; arthrodesis; bone nail; diagnostic imaging; intramedullary nailing; procedures; surgery; tibia; treatment outcome | English | 2022 | 2022-09 | 10.1097/bot.0000000000002363 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | |
| ○ | ○ | Article | PVA/PVP/PEG polymeric blend loaded with nano-Zn0.75-xFexCd0.25S: effect of iron concentration on the optical characteristics | Poly(vinyl alcohol)/poly(ethylene glycol)/polyvinyl pyrrolidone blend loaded with nano-(Zn0.75-xFexCd0.25S) was formed by thermolysis and casting procedures. Rietveld analysis confirmed the formation of a solid solution Zn0.75-xFexCd0.25S with a single zinc blende phase of cubic structure. Upon doping with iron (Fe) ions, the cell parameter increased slightly while the crystallite size decreased. X-ray diffraction evidenced the possible formation of cross-linking between different polymers in the blend by the variation in the characteristic diffraction peaks positions of the constituent polymers upon forming blends. From the analysis of ultraviolet-visible (UV-Vis) spectra, all samples exhibited a normal dispersion. The absorbance, extinction coefficient, refractive index, dielectric constant, optical conductivity and nonlinear optical parameters of the nanofiller-loaded blend have the highest value compared with the other blends when the Fe content is 10%. The emitted fluorescence (FL) intensity and colors depended on the amount of Fe in the nanofiller. The blend with 15% Fe has the highest FL intensity as compared with other blends. | El-naggar, A. | ○ | ○ | Article | Vanadium-doped ZnO nanorods: magnetic and enhanced H2 properties | The production of one-dimensional nanorods (NRs) has been capturing decent curiosity due to the peculiar electronic, spintronic, and hydrogen evolution properties. Consequently, herein, diluted magnetic semiconducting ZnO:V (0, 1, and 2 at%) NRs have been prepared through a typical hydrothermal method. SEM images depicted that the prepared samples belonged to nanorods. V ion incorporation into the ZnO matrix was confirmed through XRD, Raman, and XPS studies. A trivial decreasing of optical band gap with the V doping was determined via Kubelka-Munk plots. The doping enhances the paramagnetic nature of ZnO as function of V doping. Importantly, these NRs were measured for H-2 production through H2O splitting by the solar simulator. The ZnO:V (2 at%) portrayed the best H-2 production capability (25,188 mu mol h(-1) g(-1)) in 5 h than other samples. The plausible reasons behind the improved H-2 evolution could be discussed in detail. Till date, this is the first ever report on H-2 evolution of ZnO:V nanorods. | Bathalavaram, Poornaprakash; Puneetha, Peddathimula; Ramu, Singiri; Jeon, Jooyoung; Kwon, Min-Woo; Lee, Dong-Yeon; Mallem, Siva Pratap Reddy; Kim, Young Lae; Park, Kwi-Il | Gangneung Wonju Natl Univ, Dept Elect Engn, Kangnung 25457, South Korea; Yeungnam Univ, Coll Mech & IT Engn, Dept Robot & Intelligent Machine Engn, Gyongsan 38541, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Sch Mat Sci & Engn, Daegu 41566, South Korea | ; Park, Kwiil/LKN-9445-2024; Lee, Dong-Yeon/I-7299-2019 | 53064430100; 56354594100; 57194532005; 58441918400; 56467720100; 55698936200; 55422639100; 35096358900; 35280874200 | ylkim@gwnu.ac.kr;kipark@knu.ac.kr; | APPLIED PHYSICS A-MATERIALS SCIENCE & PROCESSING | APPL PHYS A-MATER | 0947-8396 | 1432-0630 | 128 | 12 | SCIE | MATERIALS SCIENCE, MULTIDISCIPLINARY;PHYSICS, APPLIED | 2022 | 2.7 | 48.4 | 0.19 | 2025-06-25 | 2 | 3 | Zinc oxide; Nanorods; Paramagnetism; Hydrogen evolution | HYDROGEN EVOLUTION; PHOTOCATALYTIC ACTIVITY | Hydrogen evolution; Nanorods; Paramagnetism; Zinc oxide | Energy gap; Hydrogen production; II-VI semiconductors; Magnetic semiconductors; Nanorods; Paramagnetism; Vanadium; Wide band gap semiconductors; Doped ZnO; H 2 evolution; H 2 production; Hydrogen-evolution; Hydrothermal methods; One-dimensional; Property; V-doping; Vanadium doped; ZnO nanorod; Zinc oxide | English | 2022 | 2022-12 | 10.1007/s00339-022-06219-z | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | |
| ○ | ○ | Article | Grasping Time and Pose Selection for Robotic Prosthetic Hand Control Using Deep Learning Based Object Detection | This paper presents an algorithm to control a robotic prosthetic hand by applying deep learning (DL) to select a grasping pose and a grasping time from 2D images and 3D point clouds. This algorithm consists of four steps: 1) Acquisition of 2D images and 3D point clouds of objects; 2) Object recognition in the 2D images; 3) Grasping pose selection; 4) Choice of a grasping time and control of the prosthetic hand. The grasping pose selection is necessary when the algorithm detects many objects in the same frame, and must decide which pose of the prosthetic hand should use. The pose was chosen considering the object that was to the prosthesis. The grasping time was determined by the operating point when approaching the selected target after selecting the grasping pose; this choice uses an empirically-determined distance threshold. The proposed method achieved 89% accuracy of the grasping the intended object. The failures occurred because of slight inaccuracy in object localization, occlusion of target objects, and the inability of DL object detection. Work to solve these shortcomings is ongoing. This algorithm will help to improve the convenience of the user of a prosthetic hand. | Park, Hae-June; An, Bo-Hyeon; Joo, Su-Bin; Kwon, Oh-Won; Kim, Min Young; Seo, Joonho | Korea Inst Machinery & Mat, Assist Med Robot Lab, 330 Techno Sunhwan Ro, Daegu 42994, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Sch Elect Engn, 80 Daehakro, Daegu 41566, South Korea; Korea Inst Machinery & Mat, Dept Med Robot, 330 Techno Sunhwan Ro, Daegu 42994, South Korea; Korea Inst Machinery & Mat, Dept Med Device, 330 Techno Sunhwan Ro, Daegu 42994, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Res Ctr Neurosurg Robot Syst, 80 Daehakro, Daegu 41566, South Korea | Seo, Joonho/KHX-5875-2024 | 57210446574; 57216877040; 57216872832; 57026875700; 56739349100; 35761296900 | haejune@kimm.re.kr;bhan0@kimm.re.kr;sbjoo@kimm.re.kr;owkwon@kimm.re.kr;minyoung.kim2@gmail.com;jhseo@kimm.re.kr; | INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF CONTROL AUTOMATION AND SYSTEMS | INT J CONTROL AUTOM | 1598-6446 | 2005-4092 | 20 | 10 | SCIE | AUTOMATION & CONTROL SYSTEMS | 2022 | 3.2 | 48.5 | 0.44 | 2025-06-25 | 4 | 6 | Computer vision; grasping pose selection; grasping time selection; point cloud; 3D distance | DESIGN | 3D distance; Computer vision; grasping pose selection; grasping time selection; point cloud | Deep learning; Object recognition; Palmprint recognition; Prosthetics; Robot vision; 2D images; 3d distance; 3D point cloud; Grasping pose selection; Grasping time selection; Objects detection; Objects recognition; Point-clouds; Prosthetic hand controls; Prosthetic hands; Object detection | English | 2022 | 2022-10 | 10.1007/s12555-021-0449-6 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | |
| ○ | ○ | Article | Morphological plasticity in the rice root nematode, Hirschmanniella oryzae (van Breda de Haan, 1902) Luc & Goodey, 1964 from Korea, with inferences from its ribosomal and mitochondrial DNA | A population of Hirschmanniella oryzae (van Breda de Haan, 1902) Luc & Goodey, 1964 with extreme morphological and morphometric variations was reported from rhizospheric soils sampled from a paddy rice-garlic double cropped farm in Korea. Females and males are morphologically characterized and their linked DNA sequence data supplied. Morphological and morphometric data revealed extreme intraspecific variation, especially in body length, stylet length, tail length, tail terminus shape and body ratios. But, despite the significant morphological and morphometric divergence, inferences from the analyses of the 18S-rRNA, D2-D3 expansion segment of 28S-rRNA and ITS1-5.8S-ITS2 of rRNA partial sequences confirmed that the studied population belongs to H. oryzae. The current morphometric data extends total ranges recorded for H. oryzae, but also, overlaps all morphometric characters of H. belli Sher, 1968. However, the available molecular DNA markers (18S- and 28S-rRNA) strongly support the validity of the two species. Therefore, H. belli is herein considered a cryptic sibling species of H. oryzae. Morphological divergence is becoming a common phenomenon in Hirschmanniella spp., and there is a continuous need to apply integrative taxonomic identification considering both morphological and molecular markers to supplement the current generic compendia. The COI gene sequences of H. oryzae are herein supplied for the first time. | Mwamula, Abraham Okki; Lim, Tae Heon; Kim, Yiseul; Lee, Ho-wook; Kim, Young Ho; Lee, Dong Woon | Kyungpook Natl Univ, Dept Entomol, Sangju 37224, Gyeongsangbuk D, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Grad Sch Plant Protect & Quarantine, Dept Plant Protect & Quarantine, Daegu 41566, South Korea; Nousbo Co Ltd, Suwon 16619, Gyeonggi Do, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Dept Ecol Sci, Sangju 37224, Gyeongsangbuk D, South Korea | ; Kim, Young/J-5414-2012 | 56786549100; 57850489000; 57204608381; 57215656028; 58516491300; 7406669991 | whitegrub@knu.ac.kr; | EUROPEAN JOURNAL OF PLANT PATHOLOGY | EUR J PLANT PATHOL | 0929-1873 | 1573-8469 | 164 | 3 | SCIE | AGRONOMY;HORTICULTURE;PLANT SCIENCES | 2022 | 1.8 | 48.6 | 0.7 | 2025-06-25 | 4 | 6 | 28S-rRNA; Molecular characterization; Morphometric variation | N-SP NEMATODA; PRATYLENCHIDAE; PHYLOGENY; KEY | 28S-rRNA; Molecular characterization; Morphometric variation | Korea; divergence; mitochondrial DNA; morphology; morphometry; nematode; phenotypic plasticity; rice | English | 2022 | 2022-11 | 10.1007/s10658-022-02563-1 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | |
| ○ | ○ | Article | Novel silver-enhanced hard gold electrodeposit applied for electrical contacts: comparison with conventional gold-cobalt alloy | An Au-Ag coating has been envisaged as an alternative to the conventional Au-Co electrodeposit. In this study, an Au-Ag coating was electrodeposited on Cu substrates pre-coated with a Ni layer. The contact resistance of the Au-Ag coating was observed to be lower than that of the Au-Co coating. Under extended aging, the Au-Ag coating demonstrated a slightly increased contact resistance, while the contact resistance of the Au-Co coating increased significantly. Additionally, the solderability of the Au-Ag coating surpassed that of the Au-Co coating. Qualitative analyses demonstrate that, in the case of Au-Co coating, a considerable amount of Ni diffused through the Au layer to react with O-2 in the air to form oxides during aging. The Co elements also oxidised due to aging. The formation of the oxide layer induced an increased contact resistance and diminished solderability. In addition, the Au-Co coating consisted of finer grains than the Au-Ag coating, promoting the Ni diffusion through the Au layer. | Yen Ngoc Nguyen; Lee, Jongmin; Son, Injoon | Kyungpook Natl Univ, Sch Mat Sci & Engn, Daegu 41566, South Korea | ; Nguyen, Yen/CAJ-4943-2022 | 57197767959; 59098188100; 9942975800 | ijson@knu.ac.kr; | TRANSACTIONS OF THE INSTITUTE OF METAL FINISHING | T I MET FINISH | 0020-2967 | 1745-9192 | 100 | 4 | SCIE | ELECTROCHEMISTRY;MATERIALS SCIENCE, COATINGS & FILMS;METALLURGY & METALLURGICAL ENGINEERING | 2022 | 1.9 | 48.7 | 0.09 | 2025-06-25 | 1 | 1 | Hard gold; gold-cobalt alloy; gold-silver alloy; electrodeposition; contact resistance; solder; electrical contact; aging | CURRENT-DENSITY; NICKEL; OXIDATION; COPPER | aging; contact resistance; electrical contact; electrodeposition; gold–cobalt alloy; gold–silver alloy; Hard gold; solder | Cobalt alloys; Contact resistance; Diffusion coatings; Electrodeposition; Electrodes; Gold alloys; Gold coatings; Nickel coatings; Silver alloys; Au layers; Co elements; Cu substrate; Electrical contacts; Gold-cobalt alloys; Gold-silver alloy; Hard gold; Oxide layer; Qualitative analysis; Solderability; Electric contacts | English | 2022 | 2022-07-04 | 10.1080/00202967.2022.2079286 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | |
| ○ | ○ | Article | Time-saving synthetic magnetic resonance imaging protocols for pediatric neuroimaging: impact of echo train length and bandwidth on image quality | Background Synthetic MRI is a time-efficient imaging technique that provides both quantitative MRI and contrast-weighted images simultaneously. However, a rather long single scan time can be challenging for children. Objective To evaluate the clinical feasibility of time-saving synthetic MRI protocols adjusted for echo train length and receiver bandwidth in pediatric neuroimaging based on image quality assessment and quantitative data analysis. Materials and methods In total, we included 33 children ages 1.6-17.4 years who underwent synthetic MRI using three sets of echo train length and receiver bandwidth combinations (echo train length [E]12-bandwidth [B in KHz]22, E16-B22 and E16-B83) at 3 T. The image quality and lesion conspicuity of synthetic contrast-weighted images were compared between the suggested protocol (E12-B22) and adjusted protocols (E16-B22 and E16-B83). We also compared tissue values (T1, T2, proton-density values) and brain volumetry. Results For the E16-B83 combination, image quality was sufficient except for 15.2% of T1-W and 3% of T2-W fluid-attenuated inversion recovery (FLAIR) images, with remarkable scan time reduction (up to 35%). The E16-B22 combination demonstrated a comparable image quality to E12-B22 (P>0.05) with a scan time reduction of up to 8%. There were no significant differences in lesion conspicuity among the three protocols (P>0.05). Tissue value measurements and brain tissue volumes obtained with the E12-B22 protocol and adjusted protocols showed excellent agreement and strong correlations except for gray matter volume and non-white matter/gray matter/cerebrospinal fluid volume in E12-B22 vs. E16-B83. Conclusion The adjusted synthetic protocols produced image quality sufficient or comparable to that of the suggested protocol while maintaining lesion conspicuity with reduced scan time. The quantitative values were generally consistent with the suggested MRI-protocol-derived values, which supports the clinical application of adjusted protocols in pediatric neuroimaging. | Lee, So Mi; Cho, Hyun-Hae; You, Sun Kyoung; Kim, Eunji; Kim, Seungho; Hwang, Moon Jung; Cho, Seung Hyun; Park, Byunggeon; Hong, Jihoon; Youn, Sung Won; Chang, Yongmin | Kyungpook Natl Univ, Sch Med, Dept Radiol, Daegu, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Dept Radiol, Chilgok Hosp, Daegu, South Korea; Ewha Womans Univ, Coll Med, Dept Radiol, Seoul, South Korea; Ewha Womans Univ, Coll Med, Med Res Inst, Seoul, South Korea; Chungnam Natl Univ, Chungnam Natl Univ Hosp, Dept Radiol, Coll Med, Daejeon, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Dept Med & Biol Engn, Daegu, South Korea; GE Healthcare Korea, Seoul, South Korea; Daegu Catholic Univ, Med Ctr, Dept Radiol, Sch Med, Daegu, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Sch Med, Dept Mol Med, 130 Dongdeok Ro, Daegu 41944, South Korea | ; Youn, Sung-Won/AAH-1723-2020 | 56824903400; 56544900900; 56710939300; 57215273419; 57218284791; 57200114449; 55686242700; 57211532915; 57215858314; 57206373939; 7501840633 | ychang@knu.ac.kr; | PEDIATRIC RADIOLOGY | PEDIATR RADIOL | 0301-0449 | 1432-1998 | 52 | 12 | SCIE | PEDIATRICS;RADIOLOGY, NUCLEAR MEDICINE & MEDICAL IMAGING | 2022 | 2.3 | 48.8 | 0.34 | 2025-06-25 | 4 | 2 | Brain; Brain segmentation; Children; Image quality; Magnetic resonance imaging; Quantitative imaging; Relaxometry; Synthetic imaging | MULTIPLE-SCLEROSIS; BRAIN; MRI; TISSUE; QUANTIFICATION | Brain; Brain segmentation; Children; Image quality; Magnetic resonance imaging; Quantitative imaging; Relaxometry; Synthetic imaging | Adolescent; Brain; Child; Child, Preschool; Head; Humans; Infant; Magnetic Resonance Imaging; Neuroimaging; Research Design; proton; adolescent; Article; bandwidth; brain size; cerebrospinal fluid; child; clinical article; clinical protocol; comparative study; controlled study; feasibility study; female; gray matter; gray matter volume; human; image analysis; image quality; male; McNemar test; neuroimaging; nuclear magnetic resonance imaging; quality control; quantitative analysis; retrospective study; sensitivity and specificity; sex ratio; two-dimensional imaging; white matter; brain; diagnostic imaging; head; infant; methodology; preschool child; procedures | English | 2022 | 2022-11 | 10.1007/s00247-022-05389-5 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 |
