| ○ | ○ | Article | Understanding wetting behavior in electrode-electrolyte interface formation and its sensitivity to electrode-current collector interaction: a lattice Boltzmann method approach | The formation of the electrolyte-electrode interface is essential for the performance of Li-ion batteries. This study aims to explore the wetting characteristics of an electrolyte within a porous electrode positioned between a current collector and a separator. By utilizing the Shan-Chen-based lattice Boltzmann method, an in-house code has been developed and thoroughly validated. This code integrates actual contact angles at the interfaces between the electrolyte and battery components. Furthermore, code acceleration through GPU-based parallel programming facilitates adequate meshing, underscoring the novelty and originality of our approach. The results of this study provide insights into the overall saturation curves and imbibition rates and clarify the primary mechanisms of electrolyte wetting within the porous matrix via local wetting rates. The electrode-current collector interface emerged as a critical factor influencing the imbibition rate and gas entrapment tendencies. Pore types at the interface have been categorized, focusing on how the material contact angle variations between the current collector and electrolyte influence wetting dynamics. Notably, it is observed that higher contact angles (90 degrees) between the electrolyte and current collector increase the risk of trapping gas. Conversely, lower angles (15 degrees and 35 degrees) improve overall saturation; however, the enhancement of the wetting rate is particularly noticeable when interconnected pores are present at the interfaces of the electrode and battery components. This study underscores the combined influence of the separator and current collector in comprehending electrolyte wetting behavior, thus contributing to the advancement of battery technology. | Abubaker, Muhammad; Sohn, Chang-Hyun; Ali, Hafiz Muhammad | Kyungpook Natl Univ, Dept Mech Engn, Daegu 41566, South Korea; COMSATS Univ Islamabad, Dept Mech Engn, Sahiwal 57000, Pakistan; King Fahd Univ Petr & Minerals, Mech Engn Dept, Dhahran 31261, Saudi Arabia; King Fahd Univ Petr & Minerals, Interdisciplinary Res Ctr Sustainable Energy Syst, Dhahran 31261, Saudi Arabia | Ali, HM/AAH-3473-2021 | 56266743000; 36806852600; 55749198400 | abubaker@knu.ac.kr;chsohn@knu.ac.kr;hafiz.ali@kfupm.edu.sa; | JOURNAL OF THERMAL ANALYSIS AND CALORIMETRY | J THERM ANAL CALORIM | 1388-6150 | 1588-2926 | 149 | 11 | SCIE | CHEMISTRY, ANALYTICAL;CHEMISTRY, PHYSICAL;THERMODYNAMICS | 2024 | 3.1 | 29.7 | 2.73 | 2025-05-07 | 7 | 7 | Lithium-ion batteries; Wetting dynamics; Electrode-electrolyte interface; Current collector surface; Gas entrapment | LITHIUM-ION BATTERIES; COMPUTATIONAL FLUID-DYNAMICS; FILLING PROCESS; TECHNOECONOMIC ANALYSIS; POROUS-ELECTRODES; VISUALIZATION; WETTABILITY; SIMULATION; MODEL; DISPLACEMENT | Current collector surface; Electrode–electrolyte interface; Gas entrapment; Lithium-ion batteries; Wetting dynamics | Electrodes; Electrolytes; Kinetic theory; Parallel programming; Phase interfaces; Separators; Wetting; Current collector surface; Current-collector; Electrode current; Electrode-electrolyte interfaces; Gas entrapments; Interface formation; Lattice Boltzmann method; Wetting behavior; Wetting dynamics; Wetting rate; Lithium-ion batteries | English | 2024 | 2024-06 | 10.1007/s10973-024-13140-5 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | |
| ○ | ○ | Article | Design and testing of double-wishbone suspension for enhanced outdoor maneuver stability of a six-wheeled mobile robot | Ensuring driving stability in wheeled mobile robots (WMRs) within dynamic environments is crucial for reliable navigation. This study presents the design and testing of a double-wishbone suspension (DWS), which is specifically tailored for a highly maneuverable six-WMR configuration, to address stability challenges in unstructured terrains. During the suspension design phase, critical factors such as the link length, position of shock absorber, spring and damping coefficients, and roll center location were optimized using the non- dominated sorting genetic algorithm (NSGA). The proposed DWS module ensures robust and stable driving performance for medium-sized WMRs. It effectively reduces rollovers and external shocks on uneven terrains while maintaining consistent traction across all wheels. Unlike current applications of the DWS in robotics, all the optimized parameters of the DWS with the NSGA algorithm are tailored for high-speed travel and are proficient at absorbing impacts that are encountered during outdoor driving. For practical implementation, a fabricated platform with optimal design parameters was subjected to field tests to evaluate its driving performance, both in prolonged driving on a circular route and in outdoor settings, with bumpy obstacles. The study presents a comprehensive stability analysis of the DWS and the proposed mobile robot, with a specific emphasis on rollover scenarios. The experimental results unequivocally demonstrated that the sixWMR equipped with the proposed DWS outperforms its counterpart without the DWS. This study highlights the reliability of the proposed DWS in the six-WMR configuration for efficient outdoor operations in unstructured terrains. | Park, Hoonmin; Langari, Reza; Yi, Hak | Kyungpook Natl Univ, Dept Mech Engn, 80 Daehak Ro, Daegu 41566, South Korea; Texas A&M Univ, Dept Mech Engn, 3123 TAMU, College Stn, TX 77840 USA | 57222070279; 7006275578; 56567311000 | yihak@knu.ac.kr; | MECHATRONICS | MECHATRONICS | 0957-4158 | 103 | SCIE | AUTOMATION & CONTROL SYSTEMS;ENGINEERING, ELECTRICAL & ELECTRONIC;ENGINEERING, MECHANICAL;ROBOTICS | 2024 | 3.1 | 29.9 | 0.35 | 2025-05-07 | 1 | 1 | Double-wishbone suspension; Kinematic control; Wheeled mobile robot; Stability factor | TERRAIN | Double-wishbone suspension; Kinematic control; Stability factor; Wheeled mobile robot | Automobile drivers; Genetic algorithms; Machine design; Shock absorbers; Stability; Double wishbones; Double-wishbone suspension; Driving performance; Driving stability; Kinematics control; Non-dominated sorting genetic algorithms; Robot configurations; Stability factor; Unstructured terrain; Wheeled mobile robot; Mobile robots | English | 2024 | 2024-11 | 10.1016/j.mechatronics.2024.103237 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | ||||
| ○ | Article | Real-time estimation of longitudinal tire stiffness considering dynamic characteristics of tire | To enhance the effectiveness of active safety control, the tire-road friction coefficient (TRFC) must be precisely estimated, and the longitudinal tire stiffness coefficient is an important vehicle dynamic parameter to estimate TRFC. In this research, we present an observer that improves the performance of longitudinal tire stiffness coefficient estimation by applying tire dynamics that were previously applied in the lateral direction to the longitudinal direction. To begin, we model longitudinal tire dynamics using the relaxation length concept and validate the model using vehicle braking tests. We develop an observer that estimates the longitudinal tire stiffness coefficient by integrating the proposed tire dynamics and vehicle dynamics. The observer, which is based on an extended Kalman filter, can be applied to nonlinear systems and successfully removes noise from wheel speed measurement. The observer's estimation performance is verified using CarSim simulation and vehicle tests, and the results are compared to existing approaches that do not account for longitudinal tire dynamics. Even in the transient section when the vehicle begins accelerating, the difference between the estimate and the reference value is about 0.3% using the proposed method, but if tire dynamics are not taken into account, the estimate is 6.5% lower than the reference value. | Do, Jongyong; Hyun, Dongyoon; Han, Kyoungseok; Choi, Seibum B. | Korea Adv Inst Sci & Technol, Dept Mech Engn, 291 Daehak Ro, Daejeon 34141, South Korea; Hyundai Kia R&D Ctr, Hyundai Motor Co, 150 Hyundaiyeonguso Ro Namyang Eup, Hwaseong Si 18280, Gyeonggi Do, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Sch Mech Engn, 80 Daehak Ro, Daegu 41566, South Korea | djy0129@kaist.ac.kr;dyhyun@hyundai.com;kyoungsh@knu.ac.kr;sbchoi@kaist.ac.kr; | MECHATRONICS | MECHATRONICS | 0957-4158 | 98 | SCIE | AUTOMATION & CONTROL SYSTEMS;ENGINEERING, ELECTRICAL & ELECTRONIC;ENGINEERING, MECHANICAL;ROBOTICS | 2024 | 3.1 | 29.9 | 2 | Longitudinal tire stiffness; Tire-road friction coefficient; Tire dynamics; Extended Kalman filter | ROAD FRICTION COEFFICIENT; SLIP; FORCES | English | 2024 | 2024-04 | 10.1016/j.mechatronics.2023.103120 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | ||||||||||||
| ○ | ○ | Article | DNA-free genome editing in tomato protoplasts using CRISPR/Cas9 ribonucleoprotein delivery | CRISPR/Cas9 ribonucleoproteins enable DNA-free genome editing; thus, improving protoplast culture is essential for the efficient development of mutant plants. However, the use of protoplast cultures is limited because a universal method cannot be applied to diverse plants. Solanum lycopersicum 'Heinz 1706,' a model cultivar for tomato genome analysis, has not yet been studied for DNA-free genome editing. We optimized the protoplast culture method for the tomato model cultivar 'Heinz 1706' using combinations of plant growth regulators (PGRs) and basal media. Isolated protoplasts were cultured in R-Ini medium for cell division and micro-calli proliferation, and then the medium was changed to G-207.3 medium for callus formation. Among different concentrations of 1-naphthaleneacetic acid (NAA) and 6-benzylaminopurine (BAP), the combination of 0.05 mg/L NAA and 0.5 mg/L BAP in the R-Ini medium was observed to be highly efficient for micro-calli development. G-207.3 liquid medium was more efficient for mini-calli formation than the R-Ini liquid medium. For calli formation from the mini-calli, 0.1 mg/L 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid (2,4-D), 0.05 mg/L NAA, and 0.5 mg/L BAP were used in G-207.3 solid medium. In addition, five single guide RNAs (sgRNAs) were designed to target SlPelo using polyethylene glycol-mediated transfection, thereby developing a tool for tomato yellow leaf curl virus (TYLCV) resistance breeding. sgRNAs and Cas9 complexes were delivered into protoplasts using PEG-mediated transfection, and sgRNA2 resulted in a high mutagenesis efficiency. The results will be valuable for DNA-free genome editing in tomato for the development of new breeding materials. | Kang, Ga Hui; Kang, Beum-Chang; Han, Jeung-Sul; Lee, Je Min | Kyungpook Natl Univ, Dept Hort Sci, Daegu 41566, South Korea; Jeonbuk Natl Univ, Dept Hort, Jeonju 54896, South Korea | Lee, Je/AAE-7496-2020; Lee, Je Min/F-9797-2014 | 57222099284; 57188734085; 8277688900; 8885729900 | peterpan@knu.ac.kr;jemin@knu.ac.kr; | HORTICULTURE ENVIRONMENT AND BIOTECHNOLOGY | HORTIC ENVIRON BIOTE | 2211-3452 | 2211-3460 | 65 | 1 | SCIE | HORTICULTURE | 2024 | 2.4 | 30.0 | 1.58 | 2025-05-07 | 5 | 6 | CRISPR-Cas9 RNPs; DNA-free; Protoplast culture; Tomato; Transfection | LEAF-CURL-VIRUS; PLANT-REGENERATION; MESOPHYLL PROTOPLASTS; RESISTANCE LOCUS; WILD TOMATO; GENE; SYSTEM; CULTURE; TRANSFORMATION; INTROGRESSION | CRISPR-Cas9 RNPs; DNA-free; Protoplast culture; Tomato; Transfection | English | 2024 | 2024-02 | 10.1007/s13580-023-00549-4 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | ||
| ○ | Article | Evaluation of the dual role of chlorine dioxide as an antimicrobial agent and defense elicitor against Botrytis cinerea in grapevines | Chlorine dioxide (ClO2) is a safe, broad-spectrum antimicrobial agent effective against several microorganisms. It exhibits elicitor effects in inducing resistance against plant pathogens, presenting a promising fungicide alternative. This study examined the in vitro antimicrobial and defense elicitor effects of ClO2 against Botrytis cinerea on grapevines. Gene expression and the quality of leaves and berries were evaluated in ‘Kyoho’ grapevines treated with ClO2. ClO2 inhibited B. cinerea spore germination by 75–100%, reduced in vitro vegetative growth by 60% and 25% in PDB and PDA media, respectively, and minimized in vivo infections and disease severity by 30–80% in leaves. Lesion formation in the ClO2-treated berries was reduced by 20–80%. The elevated chlorophyll content and color values revealed the improved vigor in the ClO2-irrigated ‘Kyoho’ grapevines without compromising the fruit quality. The genes associated with antioxidant activity, defense system, and stilbene synthesis were upregulated significantly in grapevine leaves after the ClO2 treatment. In particular, the GPX gene encoding the antioxidant enzyme glutathione peroxidase reached its maximum level, with a log2 value of 12.17 48 hours after the ClO2 treatment. In conclusion, ClO2 has direct antimicrobial potential and induces resistance in grapes against B. cinerea, enhancing vigor without compromising the berry quality. Nevertheless, further research will be needed to address additional parameters before ClO2 can be applied in vineyards to inhibit the incidence of grey mold. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Korean Society for Horticultural Science 2024. | Ramalingam, Srinivasan; Ahn, Soon Young; Myint, Zar Le; Jung, Hee Young; Lee, Seung Yeol; Ryu, Jung A; Lee, Sang-Min; Yun, Hae Keun | Department of Horticulture & Life Science, Yeungnam University, Gyeongsan, 38541, South Korea; Department of Horticulture & Life Science, Yeungnam University, Gyeongsan, 38541, South Korea; Department of Horticulture & Life Science, Yeungnam University, Gyeongsan, 38541, South Korea; Department of Plant Medicine, National University, Kyungpook, United States; Department of Plant Medicine, National University, Kyungpook, United States; Agricultural Environment Research Department, Gyeongsangbuk-do Agricultural Research &Extension Services, Daegu, 41404, South Korea; Mass Customization Cube Company, Gumi, 39396, South Korea; Department of Horticulture & Life Science, Yeungnam University, Gyeongsan, 38541, South Korea | 57202134239; 49663046600; 59401327600; 7403029383; 59817765800; 59870129400; 57213176293; 25633338500 | haekeun@ynu.ac.kr; | Horticulture Environment and Biotechnology | HORTIC ENVIRON BIOTE | 2211-3452 | 2211-3460 | 65 | 6 | SCIE | HORTICULTURE | 2024 | 2.4 | 30.0 | 0 | 2025-05-07 | 0 | Botrytis cinerea; Chlorine dioxide; Chlorophyll content; Fruit characteristics; Gene expression | English | Final | 2024 | 10.1007/s13580-024-00621-7 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | ||||||||
| ○ | ○ | Article | Relationship of computed tomography-based measurements with symptom perception and quality of life in patients with severe asthma | Background: Symptom perception and quality of life (QOL) are important domains for properly managing severe asthma. This study aimed to assess the relationship between airway structural and parenchymal variables measured using chest computed tomography (CT) and subjective symptom perception and QOL in patients with severe asthma enrolled in the Korean Severe Asthma Registry. Methods: This study used CT-based objective measurements, including airway wall thickness (WT), hydraulic diameter, functional small airway disease (fSAD), and emphysematous lung (Emph), to assess their association with subjective symptom (cough, dyspnea, wheezing, and sputum) perception measured using the visual analog scale, and QOL measured by the Severe Asthma Questionnaire (SAQ). Results: A total of 94 patients with severe asthma were enrolled in this study. The WT and fSAD% were significantly positively associated with cough and dyspnea, respectively. For QOL, WT and Emph% showed significant negative associations with the SAQ. However, there was no significant association between lung function and symptom perception or between lung function and QOL. Conclusion: Overall, WT, fSAD%, and Emph% measured using chest CT were associated with subjective symptom perception and QOL in patients with severe asthma. This study provides a basis for clarifying the clinical correlates of imaging-derived metrics and for understanding the mechanisms of respiratory symptom perception. | Jeong, Jinyoung; Nam, Young-Hee; Sim, Da Woon; Kim, Byung-Keun; Lee, Youngsoo; Shim, Ji-Su; Lee, Suh-Young; Yang, Min-Suk; Kim, Min-Hye; Kim, So Ri; Choi, Sanghun; Kim, Sang-Heon; Koh, Young-Il; Park, Heung-Woo | Kyungpook Natl Univ, Sch Mech Engn, Daegu, South Korea; Dong A Univ, Coll Med, Dept Internal Med, Busan, South Korea; Chonnam Natl Univ, Chonnam Natl Univ Hosp, Dept Allergy Asthma & Clin Immunol, Med Sch, Gwangju, South Korea; Korea Univ, Coll Med, Dept Internal Med, Seoul, South Korea; Ajou Univ Hosp, Dept Allergy & Clin Immunol, Suwon, South Korea; Ewha Womans Univ, Coll Med, Dept Internal Med, Seoul, South Korea; Seoul Natl Univ Hosp, Dept Internal Med, Seoul, South Korea; SMG SNU Boramae Med Ctr, Dept Internal Med, Seoul, South Korea; Jeonbuk Natl Univ, Med Sch, Dept Internal Med, Div Resp Med & Allergy, Jeonju, South Korea; Hanyang Univ, Coll Med, Dept Internal Med, Seoul, South Korea; Seoul Natl Univ, Coll Med, Dept Internal Med, Seoul, South Korea | ; Yang, Min-Suk/GVT-0863-2022; Kim, Hye/AAF-7609-2020; Choi, Sanghun/AGS-7430-2022; Kim, Sang-Heon/L-1162-2016; Kim, So/AAS-1630-2021; Kim, Byung-Keun/N-4256-2018 | 58956385800; 37006947800; 57188552688; 36608393400; 57188762679; 57193221759; 54684477700; 7404927140; 58045929900; 25637561400; 55847101000; 58154851000; 58914386100; 7601567361 | guinea71@snu.ac.kr; | RESPIRATORY MEDICINE | RESP MED | 0954-6111 | 1532-3064 | 225 | SCIE | CARDIAC & CARDIOVASCULAR SYSTEMS;RESPIRATORY SYSTEM | 2024 | 3.1 | 30.1 | 0 | 2025-05-07 | 0 | 0 | Asthma; Cough; Dyspnea; Perception; Quality of life; Tomography scanners | LUNG-FUNCTION; AIRWAY; DISEASE; DYSPNEA; IMPACT; COUGH | Asthma; Cough; Dyspnea; Perception; Quality of life; Tomography scanners | Asthma; Cough; Dyspnea; Emphysema; Humans; Lung; Perception; Pulmonary Disease, Chronic Obstructive; Pulmonary Disease, Chronic Obstructive, Severe Early-Onset; Quality of Life; Tomography, X-Ray Computed; corticosteroid; adult; Article; body mass; computer assisted tomography; controlled study; cross-sectional study; disease exacerbation; dyspnea; emergency ward; female; follow up; forced expiratory volume; forced vital capacity; human; informed consent; lung function; major clinical study; male; medical record; middle aged; quality of life; severe asthma; small airway disease; supine position; visual analog scale; wheezing; asthma; chronic obstructive lung disease; coughing; diagnostic imaging; dyspnea; emphysema; lung; perception; procedures; quality of life; x-ray computed tomography | English | 2024 | 2024 (APR-MAY) | 10.1016/j.rmed.2024.107598 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | ||
| ○ | ○ | Article | 2024 Korean Society of Myocardial Infarction/National Evidence-Based Healthcare Collaborating Agency Guideline for the Pharmacotherapy of Acute Coronary Syndromes | Many countries have published clinical practice guidelines for appropriate clinical decisions, optimal treatment, and improved clinical outcomes in patients with acute coronary syndrome. Developing guidelines that are specifically tailored to the Korean environment is crucial, considering the treatment system, available medications and medical devices, racial differences, and level of language communication. In 2017, the Korean Society of Myocardial Infarction established a guideline development committee. However, at that time, it was not feasible to develop guidelines, owing to the lack of knowledge and experience in guideline development and the absence of methodology experts. In 2022, the National Evidence- Based Healthcare Collaborating Agency collaborated with a relevant academic association to develop internationally reliable guidelines, with strict adherence to the methodology for evidence-based guideline development. The first Korean acute coronary syndrome guideline starts from the 9 key questions for pharmacotherapy. | Kim, Hyun Kuk; Ryoo, Seungeun; Lee, Seung Hun; Hwang, Doyeon; Choi, Ki Hong; Park, Jungeun; Lee, Hyeon-Jeong; Yoon, Chang-Hwan; Lee, Jang Hoon; Hahn, Joo-Yong; Hong, Young Joon; Hwang, Jin Yong; Jeong, Myung Ho; Park, Dong Ah; Nam, Chang-Wook; Kim, Weon | Chosun Univ, Coll Med, Dept Internal Med, Gwangju, South Korea; Natl Evidence Based Healthcare Collaborating Agcy, Div Healthcare Res, 3-5th Floor Hlth & Welf Social Adm,400 Neungdong, Seoul 04933, South Korea; Chonnam Natl Univ, Chonnam Natl Univ Hosp, Med Sch, Dept Internal Med,Div Cardiol, Gwangju, South Korea; Seoul Natl Univ, Seoul Natl Univ Hosp, Coll Med, Dept Internal Med, Seoul, South Korea; Seoul Natl Univ, Seoul Natl Univ Hosp, Cardiovasc Ctr, Coll Med, Seoul, South Korea; Sungkyunkwan Univ, Heart Vasc Stroke Inst, Dept Internal Med, Samsung Med Ctr,Sch Med,Div Cardiol, Seoul, South Korea; Seoul Natl Univ, Bundang Hosp, Cardiovasc Ctr, Seongnam, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ Hosp, Dept Internal Med, Daegu, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Sch Med, Dept Surg, Daegu, South Korea; Gyeongsang Natl Univ, Coll Med, Dept Internal Med, Jinju, South Korea; Gyeongsang Natl Univ Hosp, Jinju, South Korea; Gwangju Vet Hosp, Dept Cardiovasc Med, Gwangju, South Korea; Keimyung Univ, Dongsan Hosp, Dept Med, Daegu, South Korea; Kyung Hee Univ Hosp, Dept Cardiovasc Med, 23 Kyungheedae Ro, Seoul 02447, South Korea | ; Lee, Seung/AAW-6430-2021; Hahn, Joo-Yong/AAU-7250-2020; Yoon, Changhwan/MXM-0567-2025; Hong, Young Joon/A-2792-2011 | 57206210646; 57604354400; 57214839313; 56785007300; 55756735500; 57223030778; 56477500000; 7202882965; 54581258000; 12771661800; 13310329100; 55892914700; 56485157500; 55857456800; 34571810200; 8570166100 | pda124@neca.re.kr;namcwcv@gmail.com;mylovekw@hanmail.net; | KOREAN CIRCULATION JOURNAL | KOREAN CIRC J | 1738-5520 | 1738-5555 | 54 | 12 | SCIE | CARDIAC & CARDIOVASCULAR SYSTEMS | 2024 | 3.1 | 30.2 | 0.52 | 2025-05-07 | 2 | 2 | EXPERT CONSENSUS DOCUMENT; DUAL-ANTIPLATELET THERAPY; PROTON PUMP INHIBITORS; LDL-CHOLESTEROL; HEART-FAILURE; DE-ESCALATION; OPEN-LABEL; ANTITHROMBOTIC THERAPY; CLINICAL-OUTCOMES; NON-INFERIORITY | Acute coronary syndrome; Clinical practice guideline; Pharmacotherapy | acetylsalicylic acid; angiotensin receptor antagonist; antithrombocytic agent; beta adrenergic receptor blocking agent; dipeptidyl carboxypeptidase inhibitor; hydroxymethylglutaryl coenzyme A reductase inhibitor; low density lipoprotein cholesterol; mineralocorticoid antagonist; mineralocorticoid receptor; placebo; proton pump inhibitor; ticagrelor; acute coronary syndrome; all cause mortality; anticoagulation; Article; clinical effectiveness; clinical outcome; clinical practice guideline; clinical research; collaborative care team; data base; data synthesis; drug dose escalation; dual antiplatelet therapy; evidence based practice; evidence gap; funding; GRADE approach; health care quality; heart infarction; heart left ventricle ejection fraction; heart muscle ischemia; high risk patient; hospitalization; human; medical society; meta analysis (topic); monotherapy; pharmaceutical care; primary medical care; race difference; randomized controlled trial (topic); renin angiotensin aldosterone system; short course therapy; systematic review (topic) | English | 2024 | 2024-12 | 10.4070/kcj.2024.0257 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | ||
| ○ | ○ | Article | Capacitorless One-Transistor Dynamic Random-Access Memory with Novel Mechanism: Self-Refreshing | In this paper, we propose for the first time a self-refreshing mechanism in a junctionless field-effect transistor (JLFET) based on one-transistor dynamic random-access memory (1T-DRAM) with a silicon-on-insulator (SOI) structure. The self-refreshing mechanism continuously creates holes by appropriately generating impact ionization during the holding process through the application of an appropriate operation bias voltage. This leads to self-refreshing, which prevents the recombination of holes. When using the self-refreshing mechanism for the proposed device, the sensing margins were 15.4 and 12.7 mu A/mu m at 300 and 358 K, respectively. Moreover, the device achieved an excellent performance retention time of >500 ms, regardless of the temperature of the 1T-DRAM with a single gate. Furthermore, cell disturbance analysis and voltage optimization were performed to evaluate the in-cell reliability of the proposed device. | ○ | ○ | Article | Core-Shell Fe3O4@C Nanoparticles as Highly Effective T2 Magnetic Resonance Imaging Contrast Agents: In Vitro and In Vivo Studies | Magnetite nanoparticles (Fe3O4 NPs) have been intensively investigated because of their potential biomedical applications due to their high saturation magnetization. In this study, core-shell Fe3O4@C NPs (core = Fe3O4 NPs and shell = amorphous carbons, d(avg) = 35.1 nm) were synthesized in an aqueous solution. Carbon coating terminated with hydrophilic -OH and -COOH groups imparted excellent biocompatibility and hydrophilicity to the NPs, making them suitable for biomedical applications. The Fe3O4@C NPs exhibited ideal relaxometric properties for T-2 magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) contrast agents (i.e., high transverse and negligible longitudinal water proton spin relaxivities), making them exclusively induce only T-2 relaxation. Their T-2 MRI performance as contrast agents was confirmed in vivo by measuring T-2 MR images in mice before and after intravenous injection. | Yue, Huan; Zhao, Dejun; Tegafaw, Tirusew; Ahmad, Mohammad Yaseen; Saidi, Abdullah Khamis Ali Al; Liu, Ying; Cha, Hyunsil; Yang, Byeong Woo; Chae, Kwon Seok; Nam, Sung-Wook; Chang, Yongmin; Lee, Gang Ho | Kyungpook Natl Univ, Coll Nat Sci, Dept Chem, Taegu 41566, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Sch Med, Div Biomed Sci, Taegu 41944, South Korea; Theranocure, Medlifesci Bldg 1, Taegu 41405, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Teachers Coll, Dept Biol Educ, Taegu 41566, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Sch Med, Dept Mol Med, Taegu 41944, South Korea; Pingdingshan Univ, Sch Chem & Environm Engn, Pingdingshan 467000, Peoples R China | ; Yang, Byeong Woo/HII-8624-2022; Ahmad, Mohammad/AAH-2164-2020; Yue, Huan/AAC-2668-2022; Nam, Sung-Wook/V-5519-2019 | 57200329016; 57222567792; 55983618600; 57203054570; 57217492867; 57221731093; 57189728122; 57195807615; 15743626400; 16167127700; 7501840633; 7404851841 | yuehuan888@gmail.com;djzhao.chem@gmail.com;tirukorea@gmail.com;yaseen.knu@gmail.com;aalsaidi@knu.ac.kr;ly1124161@gmail.com;hyunsil901002@gmail.com;byungwoo1128@naver.com;kschae@knu.ac.kr;nams@knu.ac.kr;ychang@knu.ac.kr;ghlee@mail.knu.ac.kr; | NANOMATERIALS | NANOMATERIALS-BASEL | 2079-4991 | 14 | 2 | SCIE | CHEMISTRY, MULTIDISCIPLINARY;MATERIALS SCIENCE, MULTIDISCIPLINARY;NANOSCIENCE & NANOTECHNOLOGY;PHYSICS, APPLIED | 2024 | 4.3 | 30.2 | 2.01 | 2025-04-16 | 9 | 10 | Fe3O4@C nanoparticle; core shell; magnetic resonance imaging; contrast agent; highly effective | AMORPHOUS-CARBON | contrast agent; core shell; Fe3O4@C nanoparticle; highly effective; magnetic resonance imaging | English | 2024 | 2024-01 | 10.3390/nano14020177 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | |||
| ○ | ○ | Article | Dependence of Positive Bias Stress Instability on Threshold Voltage and Its Origin in Solution-Processed Aluminum-Doped Indium Oxide Thin-Film Transistors | The initial electrical characteristics and bias stabilities of thin-film transistors (TFTs) are vital factors regarding the practical use of electronic devices. In this study, the dependence of positive bias stress (PBS) instability on an initial threshold voltage (VTH) and its origin were analyzed by understanding the roles of slow and fast traps in solution-processed oxide TFTs. To control the initial VTH of oxide TFTs, the indium oxide (InOx) semiconductor was doped with aluminum (Al), which functioned as a carrier suppressor. The concentration of oxygen vacancies decreased as the Al doping concentration increased, causing a positive VTH shift in the InOx TFTs. The VTH shift ( increment VTH) caused by PBS increased exponentially when VTH was increased, and a distinct tendency was observed as the gate bias stress increased due to a high vertical electric field in the oxide dielectric. In addition, the recovery behavior was analyzed to reveal the influence of fast and slow traps on increment VTH by PBS. Results revealed that the effect of the slow trap increased as the VTH moved in the positive direction; this occured because the main electron trap location moved away from the interface as the Fermi level approached the conduction band minimum. Understanding the correlation between VTH and PBS instability can contribute to optimizing the fabrication of oxide TFT-based circuits for electronic applications. | Na, Jeong-Hyeon; Park, Jun-Hyeong; Park, Won; Feng, Junhao; Eun, Jun-Su; Lee, Jinuk; Lee, Sin-Hyung; Jang, Jaewon; Kang, In Man; Kim, Do-Kyung; Bae, Jin-Hyuk | Kyungpook Natl Univ, Sch Elect & Elect Engn, 80 Daehakro, Daegu 41566, South Korea | ; Lee, Sin-Hyung/ABD-6425-2022; Feng, Junhao/KZF-5875-2024 | 57192006339; 57454302100; 58494046100; 57905127500; 58493099200; 58487758300; 57226880204; 57194107504; 7203062678; 57984042900; 35326180700 | jh2jh3@naver.com;jeef12345@naver.com;qkrdnjs0320@naver.com;junhaosuhua@gmail.com;wnstn0812@naver.com;kein98@knu.ac.kr;sinhlee@knu.ac.kr;j1jang@knu.ac.kr;imkang@ee.knu.ac.kr;kdk7362@knu.ac.kr;jhbae@ee.knu.ac.kr; | NANOMATERIALS | NANOMATERIALS-BASEL | 2079-4991 | 14 | 5 | SCIE | CHEMISTRY, MULTIDISCIPLINARY;MATERIALS SCIENCE, MULTIDISCIPLINARY;NANOSCIENCE & NANOTECHNOLOGY;PHYSICS, APPLIED | 2024 | 4.3 | 30.2 | 1.21 | 2025-05-07 | 4 | 4 | oxide semiconductor; thin-film transistors (TFTs); bias instability; threshold voltage dependency; degradation mechanism | PHOTOCHEMICAL ACTIVATION; ELECTRICAL PERFORMANCE; LAYER; TFTS | bias instability; degradation mechanism; oxide semiconductor; thin-film transistors (TFTs); threshold voltage dependency | English | 2024 | 2024-03 | 10.3390/nano14050466 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | |||
| ○ | ○ | Article | Effect of Electrochemically Active Top Electrode Materials on Nanoionic Conductive Bridge Y2O3 Random-Access Memory | Herein, sol-gel-processed Y2O3 resistive random-access memory (RRAM) devices were fabricated. The top electrodes (TEs), such as Ag or Cu, affect the electrical characteristics of the Y2O3 RRAM devices. The oxidation process, mobile ion migration speed, and reduction process all impact the conductive filament formation of the indium-tin-oxide (ITO)/Y2O3/Ag and ITO/Y2O3/Cu RRAM devices. Between Ag and Cu, Cu can easily be oxidized due to its standard redox potential values. However, the conductive filament is easily formed using Ag TEs. After triggering the oxidation process, the formed Ag mobile metal ions can migrate faster inside Y2O3 active channel materials when compared to the formed Cu mobile metal ions. The fast migration inside the Y2O3 active channel materials successfully reduces the SET voltage and improves the number of programming-erasing cycles, i.e., endurance, which is one of the nonvolatile memory parameters. These results elucidate the importance of the electrochemical properties of TEs, providing a deeper understanding of how these factors influence the resistive switching characteristics of metal oxide-based atomic switches and conductive-metal-bridge-filament-based cells. | Cho, Yoonjin; Lee, Sangwoo; Heo, Seongwon; Bae, Jin-Hyuk; Kang, In-Man; Kim, Kwangeun; Lee, Won-Yong; Jang, Jaewon | Kyungpook Natl Univ, Sch Elect & Elect Engn, Daegu 41566, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Sch Elect Engn, Daegu 41566, South Korea; Korea Aerosp Univ, Sch Elect & Informat Engn, Goyang 10540, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Inst Elect Technol, Daegu 41566, South Korea | 58567567900; 58567753300; 58960360300; 35326180700; 7203062678; 36004977500; 57209527128; 57194107504 | sangw98@knu.ac.kr;pos03034@knu.ac.kr;jhbae@ee.knu.ac.kr;imkang@ee.knu.ac.kr;kke@kau.ac.kr;yongsz@knu.ac.kr;j1jang@knu.ac.kr; | NANOMATERIALS | NANOMATERIALS-BASEL | 2079-4991 | 14 | 6 | SCIE | CHEMISTRY, MULTIDISCIPLINARY;MATERIALS SCIENCE, MULTIDISCIPLINARY;NANOSCIENCE & NANOTECHNOLOGY;PHYSICS, APPLIED | 2024 | 4.3 | 30.2 | 0 | 2025-05-07 | 1 | 1 | sol-gel; Y2O3; RRAM; CBRAM; top electrodes | ATOMIC LAYER DEPOSITION; MECHANISMS | CBRAM; RRAM; sol–gel; top electrodes; Y2O3 | English | 2024 | 2024-03 | 10.3390/nano14060532 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | ||||
| ○ | ○ | Article | Effects of Dielectric Barrier on Water Activation and Phosphorus Compound Digestion in Gas-Liquid Discharges | To generate a stable and effective air-liquid discharge in an open atmosphere, we investigated the effect of the dielectric barrier on the discharge between the pin electrode and liquid surface in an atmospheric-pressure plasma reactor. The atmospheric-pressure plasma reactor used in this study was based on a pin-plate discharge structure, and a metal wire was used as a pin-type power electrode. A plate-type ground electrode was placed above and below the vessel to compare the pin-liquid discharge and pin-liquid barrier discharge (PLBD). The results indicated that the PLBD configuration utilizing the bottom of the vessel as a dielectric barrier outperformed the pin-liquid setup in terms of the discharge stability and that the concentration of reactive species was different in the two plasma modes. PLBD can be used as a digestion technique for determining the phosphorus concentration in natural water sources. The method for decomposing phosphorus compounds by employing PLBD exhibited excellent decomposition performance, similar to the performance of thermochemical digestion-an established conventional method for phosphorus detection in water. The PLBD structure can replace the conventional chemical-agent-based digestion method for determining the total dissolved phosphorus concentration using the ascorbic acid reduction method. | Lee, Ye Rin; Kim, Do Yeob; Kim, Jae Young; Lee, Da Hye; Bae, Gyu Tae; Jang, Hyojun; Park, Joo Young; Jung, Sunghoon; Jung, Eun Young; Park, Choon-Sang; Lee, Hyung-Kun; Tae, Heung-Sik | Kyungpook Natl Univ, Coll IT Engn, Sch Elect & Elect Engn, Daegu 41566, South Korea; Elect & Telecommun Res Inst ETRI, Superintelligence Creat Res Lab, Daejeon 34129, South Korea; Korea Inst Mat Sci KIMS, Dept Nanobio Convergence, Chang Won 51508, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Inst Elect Technol, Coll IT Engn, Daegu 41566, South Korea; Milligan Univ, Dept Elect Engn, Johnson City, TN 37682 USA | ; park, joo young/JZT-1809-2024 | 57977013900; 19337736800; 57205191453; 58304604300; 57202369078; 57207956623; 56724785400; 59330747200; 57203199724; 16025295400; 55706818600; 7006298844 | jane9991220@knu.ac.kr;nanodykim@etri.re.kr;jyk@knu.ac.kr;dlekgp1225@naver.com;doctor047@knu.ac.kr;bs00201@knu.ac.kr;jypark@kims.re.kr;hypess@kims.re.kr;eyjung@knu.ac.kr;cpark@milligan.edu;hklee@etri.re.kr;hstae@ee.knu.ac.kr; | NANOMATERIALS | NANOMATERIALS-BASEL | 2079-4991 | 14 | 1 | SCIE | CHEMISTRY, MULTIDISCIPLINARY;MATERIALS SCIENCE, MULTIDISCIPLINARY;NANOSCIENCE & NANOTECHNOLOGY;PHYSICS, APPLIED | 2024 | 4.3 | 30.2 | 0.33 | 2025-04-16 | 0 | 1 | air-liquid discharge; organic compound decomposition; pin-liquid barrier discharge; pin-liquid discharge; plasma processing; total dissolved phosphorus | ADVANCED OXIDATION PROCESSES; REACTOR | air–liquid discharge; organic compound decomposition; pin–liquid barrier discharge; pin–liquid discharge; plasma processing; total dissolved phosphorus | English | 2024 | 2024-01 | 10.3390/nano14010040 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | |||
| ○ | ○ | Article | Improvement of Electrical Conductivity of In Situ Iodine-Doped Polypyrrole Film Using Atmospheric Pressure Plasma Reactor with Capillary Electrodes | To improve the electrical conductivity of polypyrrole (PPy) nanostructure film through in situ iodine (I2) doping, this study proposes an atmospheric pressure plasma reactor (APPR) where heated I2 dopant vapor is fed through capillary electrodes that serve as electrodes for discharge ignition. A large amount of the heated I2 vapor introduced into the reactor separately from a monomer gas can be effectively activated by an intense plasma via capillary electrodes. In particular, intensive plasma is obtained by properly adjusting the bluff body position in the APPR. Based on the ICCD and OES results, the I2 vapor injected through the capillary nozzle electrode is observed to form I2 charge species. The formed I2 species could directly participate in growing in situ I2-doped PPy films. Thus, in situ I2-doped PPy nanostructure films grown using the proposed APPR exhibit higher thicknesses of 15.3 mu m and good electrical conductivities, compared to the corresponding non-doped films. | Jung, Eun Young; Khalil, Salman; Jang, Hyojun; Suleiman, Habeeb Olaitan; Kim, Jae Young; Shin, Bhum Jae; Tae, Heung-Sik; Park, Choon-Sang | Kyungpook Natl Univ, Inst Elect Technol, Coll IT Engn, Daegu 41566, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Coll IT Engn, Sch Elect & Elect Engn, Daegu 41566, South Korea; Sejong Univ, Dept Elect Engn, Seoul 05006, South Korea; Milligan Univ, Elect Engn, Johnson City, TN 37682 USA | 57203199724; 58692268000; 57207956623; 57764914500; 57205191453; 7103027782; 7006298844; 16025295400 | eyjung@knu.ac.kr;salmank.durrani@knu.ac.kr;bs00201@knu.ac.kr;suleiman.habeeb16@knu.ac.kr;jyk@knu.ac.kr;hahusbj@sejong.ac.kr;hstae@ee.knu.ac.kr;cpark@milligan.edu; | NANOMATERIALS | NANOMATERIALS-BASEL | 2079-4991 | 14 | 5 | SCIE | CHEMISTRY, MULTIDISCIPLINARY;MATERIALS SCIENCE, MULTIDISCIPLINARY;NANOSCIENCE & NANOTECHNOLOGY;PHYSICS, APPLIED | 2024 | 4.3 | 30.2 | 0.91 | 2025-05-07 | 2 | 3 | atmospheric pressure plasma; capillary electrodes; in situ heated iodine doping; polypyrrole nanostructure film | THIN-FILMS; POLYMERIZED POLYPYRROLE; POLYANILINE | atmospheric pressure plasma; capillary electrodes; in situ heated iodine doping; polypyrrole nanostructure film | English | 2024 | 2024-03 | 10.3390/nano14050468 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | ||||
| ○ | ○ | Article | Interface Trap Effect on the n-Channel GaN Schottky Barrier-Metal-Oxide Semiconductor Field-Effect Transistor for Ultraviolet Optoelectronic Integration | Ultraviolet (UV) photodetectors are key devices required in the industrial, military, space, environmental, and biological fields. The Schottky barrier (SB)-MOSFET, with its high hole and electron barrier, and given its extremely low dark current, has broad development prospects in the optoelectronics field. We analyze the effects of trap states on the output characteristics of an inversion mode n-channel GaN SB-MOSFET using TCAD simulations. At the oxide/GaN interface below the gate, it was demonstrated that shallow donor-like traps were responsible for degrading the subthreshold swing (SS) and off-state current density (Ioff), while deep donor-like traps below the Fermi energy level were insignificant. In addition, shallow acceptor-like traps shifted the threshold voltage (Vt) positively and deteriorated the SS and on-state current density (Ion), while deep acceptor-like traps acted on a fixed charge. The output characteristics of the GaN SB-MOSFET were related to the resistive GaN path and the tunneling rate due to the traps at the metal (source, drain)/GaN interface. For the UV responses, the main mechanism for the negative Vt shift and the increases in the Ion and spectral responsivity was related to the photo-gating effect caused by light-generated holes trapped in the shallow trap states. These results will provide insights for UV detection technology and for a high-performance monolithic integration of the GaN SB-MOSFET. | Park, Byeong-Jun; Kim, Han-Sol; Hahm, Sung-Ho | Kyungpook Natl Univ, Sch Elect & Elect Engn, Daegu 41566, South Korea | Kim, Hansol/MAI-1017-2025 | 58596544800; 58542537300; 7006791831 | qudwns27@knu.ac.kr;khs8465khs@naver.com;shhahm@knu.ac.kr; | NANOMATERIALS | NANOMATERIALS-BASEL | 2079-4991 | 14 | 1 | SCIE | CHEMISTRY, MULTIDISCIPLINARY;MATERIALS SCIENCE, MULTIDISCIPLINARY;NANOSCIENCE & NANOTECHNOLOGY;PHYSICS, APPLIED | 2024 | 4.3 | 30.2 | 0.33 | 2025-04-16 | 1 | 1 | gallium nitride; Schottky barrier-MOSFET; UV optoelectronics; interface defect | PIXEL SENSOR; DECOMPOSITION; CARBON; CHARGE; STATES | gallium nitride; interface defect; Schottky barrier-MOSFET; UV optoelectronics | English | 2024 | 2024-01 | 10.3390/nano14010059 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 |
