| ○ | ○ | Article | Infrageneric Plastid Genomes of Cotoneaster (Rosaceae): Implications for the Plastome Evolution and Origin of C. wilsonii on Ulleung Island | Cotoneaster is a taxonomically and ornamentally important genus in the family Rosaceae; however, phylogenetic relationships among its species are complicated owing to insufficient morphological diagnostic characteristics and hybridization associated with polyploidy and apomixis. In this study, we sequenced the complete plastomes of seven Cotoneaster species (C. dielsianus, C. hebephyllus, C. integerrimus, C. mongolicus, C. multiflorus, C. submultiflorus, and C. tenuipes) and included the available complete plastomes in a phylogenetic analysis to determine the origin of C. wilsonii, which is endemic to Ulleung Island, Korea. Furthermore, based on 15 representative lineages within the genus, we carried out the first comparative analysis of Cotoneaster plastid genomes to gain an insight into their molecular evolution. The plastomes were highly conserved, with sizes ranging from 159,595 bp (C. tenuipes) to 160,016 bp (C. hebephyllus), and had a GC content of 36.6%. The frequency of codon usage showed similar patterns among the 15 Cotoneaster species, and 24 of the 35 protein-coding genes were predicted to undergo RNA editing. Eight of the 76 common protein-coding genes, including ccsA, matK, ndhD, ndhF, ndhK, petA, rbcL, and rpl16, were positively selected, implying their potential roles in adaptation and speciation. Of the 35 protein-coding genes, 24 genes (15 photosynthesis-related, seven self-replications, and three others) were found to harbor RNA editing sites. Furthermore, several mutation hotspots were identified, including trnG-UCC/trnR-UCU/atpA and trnT-UGU/trnL-UAA. Maximum likelihood analysis based on 57 representative plastomes of Cotoneaster and two Heteromeles plastomes as outgroups revealed two major lineages within the genus, which roughly correspond to two subgenera, Chaenopetalum and Cotoneaster. The Ulleung Island endemic, C. wilsonii, shared its most recent common ancestor with two species, C. schantungensis and C. zabelii, suggesting its potential origin from geographically close members of the subgenus Cotoneaster, section Integerrimi. | Yang, JiYoung; Kim, Seon-Hee; Pak, Jae-Hong; Kim, Seung-Chul | Kyungpook Natl Univ, Res Inst Dok Do & Ulleung Do Isl, 80 Daehak Ro, Daegu 41566, South Korea; Sungkyunkwan Univ, Dept Biol Sci, 2066 Seobu Ro, Suwon 16419, South Korea | ; Kim, Seung-Chul/AAR-6157-2020 | 55193226000; 57196226213; 7102232932; 57214983739 | jyyangson@knu.ac.kr;desfilles@naver.com;jhpak@knu.ac.kr;sonchus96@skku.edu; | GENES | GENES-BASEL | 2073-4425 | 13 | 5 | SCIE | GENETICS & HEREDITY | 2022 | 3.5 | 38.3 | 0.85 | 2025-06-25 | 8 | 8 | Cotoneaster; Rosaceae; eastern Asia; plastome; positive selection | COMPLETE CHLOROPLAST GENOME; PHYLOGENETIC ANALYSIS; SEQUENCE; PRUNUS; GENES; MITOCHONDRIAL; ORGANIZATION; SELECTION; PROGRAM; NUCLEAR | Cotoneaster; eastern Asia; plastome; positive selection; Rosaceae | Base Composition; Evolution, Molecular; Genome, Plastid; Phylogeny; Rosaceae; Article; ccsA gene; Chaenopetalum; codon usage; controlled study; Cotoneaster; Cotoneaster dielsianus; Cotoneaster hebephyllus; Cotoneaster integerrimus; Cotoneaster mongolicus; Cotoneaster multiflorus; Cotoneaster schantungensis; Cotoneaster submultiflorus; Cotoneaster tenuipes; Cotoneaster wilsonii; Cotoneaster zabelii; DNA base composition; endemic species; evolutionary adaptation; gene mutation; gene replication; genetic conservation; matK gene; maximum likelihood method; molecular evolution; ndhD gene; ndhF gene; ndhK gene; nonhuman; nucleotide sequence; petA gene; phylogeny; plant evolution; plant gene; plastid genome; plastome; rbcL gene; RNA editing; Rosaceae; rpl16 gene; sequence analysis; South Korea; species comparison; species differentiation; genetics | English | 2022 | 2022-05 | 10.3390/genes13050728 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | ||

| ○ | ○ | Article | TimesVector-Web: A Web Service for Analysing Time Course Transcriptome Data with Multiple Conditions | From time course gene expression data, we may identify genes that modulate in a certain pattern across time. Such patterns are advantageous to investigate the transcriptomic response to a certain condition. Especially, it is of interest to compare two or more conditions to detect gene expression patterns that significantly differ between them. Time course analysis can become difficult using traditional differentially expressed gene (DEG) analysis methods since they are based on pair-wise sample comparison instead of a series of time points. Most importantly, the related tools are mostly available as local Software, requiring technical expertise. Here, we present TimesVector-web, which is an easy to use web service for analysing time course gene expression data with multiple conditions. The web-service was developed to (1) alleviate the burden for analyzing multi-class time course data and (2) provide downstream analysis on the results for biological interpretation including TF, miRNA target, gene ontology and pathway analysis. TimesVector-web was validated using three case studies that use both microarray and RNA-seq time course data and showed that the results captured important biological findings from the original studies. | Jang, Jaeyeon; Hwang, Inseung; Jung, Inuk | Kyungpook Natl Univ, Dept Comp Sci & Engn, Deagu 41566, South Korea | ; Jung, Inuk/T-1981-2018 | 57392305900; 57392306000; 56067575500 | wodus1035@knu.ac.kr;his0405@knu.ac.kr;inukjung@knu.ac.kr; | GENES | GENES-BASEL | 2073-4425 | 13 | 1 | SCIE | GENETICS & HEREDITY | 2022 | 3.5 | 38.3 | 0.21 | 2025-06-25 | 2 | 2 | web service; time course; clustering; gene expression pattern | PACKAGE | Clustering; Gene expression pattern; Time course; Web service | Animals; Data Analysis; Ethanol; Fermentation; Gene Expression Regulation; Internet; Malaria; Male; Mice; Oryza; Plant Roots; Plasmodium; RNA-Seq; Saccharomyces cerevisiae; Software; Time Factors; Transcriptome; microRNA; transcription factor; alcohol; transcriptome; Article; DNA microarray; female; gene expression; gene ontology; gene targeting; genetic analysis; human; internet access; male; mouse; nonhuman; pathway analysis; RNA sequencing; transcriptomics; web browser; anatomy and histology; animal; data analysis; fermentation; gene expression regulation; genetics; Internet; isolation and purification; malaria; metabolism; Oryza; parasitology; plant root; Plasmodium; Saccharomyces cerevisiae; software; time factor | English | 2022 | 2022-01 | 10.3390/genes13010073 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | ||
| ○ | ○ | Article | Transcriptomic Immune Profiles Can Represent the Tumor Immune Microenvironment Related to the Tumor Budding Histology in Uterine Cervical Cancer | Tumor budding (TB) histology has become a critical biomarker for several solid cancers. Despite the accumulating evidence for the association of TB histology with poor prognosis, the biological characteristics of TB are little known about in the context related to the tumor immune microenvironment (TIME) in uterine cervical cancer (CC). Therefore, this study aimed to identify the transcriptomic immune profiles related to TB status and further provide robust medical evidence for clinical application. In our study, total RNA was extracted and sequenced from 21 CC tissue specimens. As such, 1494 differentially expressed genes (DEGs) between the high- and low-TB groups were identified by DESeq2. After intersecting the list of DEGs and public immune genes, we selected 106 immune-related DEGs. Then, hub genes were obtained using Least Absolute Shrinkage and Selection Operator regression. Finally, the correlation between the hub genes and immune cell types was analyzed and four candidate genes were identified (one upregulated (FCGR3B) and three downregulated (ROBO2, OPRL1, and NR4A2) genes). These gene expression levels were highly accurate in predicting TB status (area under the curve >80%). Interestingly, FCGR3B is a hub gene of several innate immune pathways; its expression significantly differed in the overall survival analysis (p = 0.0016). In conclusion, FCGR3B, ROBO2, OPRL1, and NR4A2 expression can strongly interfere with TB growth and replace TB to stratify CC patients. | Tan Minh Le; Hong Duc Thi Nguyen; Lee, Eunmi; Lee, Donghyeon; Choi, Ye Seul; Cho, Junghwan; Park, Nora Jee-Young; Han, Hyung Soo; Chong, Gun Oh | Kyungpook Natl Univ, Grad Sch, Dept Biomed Sci, Daegu 41944, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Sch Med, BK21 Four Program, Daegu 41944, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Clin Omics Inst, Daegu 41405, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Chilgok Hosp, Dept Pathol, Daegu 41404, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Sch Med, Dept Physiol, Daegu 41944, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Chilgok Hosp, Dept Obstet & Gynecol, Daegu 41404, South Korea | Le, Tan/ITT-2150-2023; Cho, Junghwan/AAK-4752-2020; Nguyen, Minh-Hoang/GQO-9183-2022 | 57870749600; 57870555300; 57424697000; 57870503500; 57226123444; 57424663500; 57226185359; 7401969388; 23099068000 | hshan@knu.ac.kr;gochong@knu.ac.kr; | GENES | GENES-BASEL | 2073-4425 | 13 | 8 | SCIE | GENETICS & HEREDITY | 2022 | 3.5 | 38.3 | 0.74 | 2025-06-25 | 6 | 7 | cervical cancer; gene expression; immune-related genes; tumor budding; tumor immune microenvironment | PROGNOSTIC-FACTOR; RECEPTOR NR4A2; MODELS | cervical cancer; gene expression; immune-related genes; tumor budding; tumor immune microenvironment | Computational Biology; Female; Gene Expression Profiling; Gene Expression Regulation, Neoplastic; Gene Regulatory Networks; Humans; Protein Interaction Maps; Transcriptome; Tumor Microenvironment; Uterine Cervical Neoplasms; nuclear receptor related factor 1; transcriptome; adult; aged; Article; cancer growth; cancer prognosis; cancer tissue; clinical article; clinical feature; controlled study; differential gene expression; down regulation; FCGR3B gene; functional enrichment analysis; gene expression level; gene identification; genetic correlation; human; human cell; human tissue; immunocompetent cell; innate immunity; least absolute shrinkage and selection operator; NR4A2 gene; oncogene; OPRL1 gene; overall survival; retrospective study; RNA extraction; RNA sequence; ROBO2 gene; signal transduction; transcriptomics; tumor immunity; tumor microenvironment; upregulation; uterine cervix cancer; biology; female; gene expression profiling; gene expression regulation; gene regulatory network; genetics; protein analysis; tumor microenvironment; uterine cervix tumor | English | 2022 | 2022-08 | 10.3390/genes13081405 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | ||
| ○ | ○ | Article | Incidence of edentulism among older adults using the Korean National Health Insurance Service database, 2013-2018 | OBJECTIVES: Population aging is rapidly accelerating worldwide. Oral diseases related to aging are also on the rise. This study examined trends in the incidence of edentulism among the older Korean population using data from the Korean National Health Insurance Service (KNHIS).METHODS: Data on older adults, aged >= 75 years of age, were obtained from the KNHIS for the period 2013-2018. Edentulism was defined as a treatment history of complete dentures in the KNHIS database. The exclusion criteria consisted of both disease codes and treatment codes related to conservative dental treatment, including periodontal and extraction treatment afterward. Crude incidence rates (CIRs) and age-standardized incidence rates (AIRs) with 95% confidence intervals were calculated and reported per 100,000 person-years by the direct method. Trends were tested by Cochrane Armitage models.RESULTS: Statistically significant increasing trends in both CIRs and AIRs were found among the older Korean population reg-istered in the KNHIS (CIRs, 707.92 to 895.92; AIRs, 705.11 to 889.68; p < 0.01). The incidence tended to increase in both gen-ders (p < 0.01). Both CIRs and AIRs in specific regions also showed slight but significant annual increases except for Jeju Island (p < 0.01 or < 0.05). The incidence showed increasing trends (p < 0.01) in all income quintiles apart from the highest quintile. The edentulism incidence was highest in the lowest income group (the first quintile).CONCLUSIONS: Our data showed that the incidence of edentulism among the elderly showed an increasing trend from 2013 to 2018. This result provides a basis for future epidemiological studies on the incidence of edentulism in the older Korean pop-ulation. | Go, Hyeonjeong; Kim, Eun-Kyong; Jung, Hoi-In; Ahn, Song Vogue; Shin, Hosung; Amano, Atsuo; Choi, Youn-Hee | Kyungpook Natl Univ, Sch Dent, Dept Prevent Dent, Daegu, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Dept Dent Hyg, Sangju, South Korea; Yonsei Univ, Coll Dent, Dept Prevent Dent & Publ Oral Hlth, Seoul, South Korea; Ewha Womans Univ, Dept Hlth Convergence, Seoul, South Korea; Wonkwang Univ, Sch Dent, Dept Social & Humanity Dent, Iksan, South Korea; Osaka Univ, Grad Sch Dent, Dept Prevent Dent, Osaka, Japan; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Inst Translat Res Dent, Daegu, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Sch Dent, Dept Prevent Dent, 2177 Dalgubeol Daero, Daegu 41940, South Korea | Ahn, Song/AAK-2900-2021 | 57196085646; 55915892100; 56580886100; 47360986600; 7404012269; 7101649822; 7404777239 | cyh1001@knu.ac.kr; | EPIDEMIOLOGY AND HEALTH | EPIDEMIOL HEALTH | 2092-7193 | 44 | SCIE | PUBLIC, ENVIRONMENTAL & OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH | 2022 | 3.8 | 38.4 | 0.35 | 2025-06-25 | 4 | 3 | Edentulism; Incidence; Korean National Health Service Insurance; Cohort database; Elderly; Tooth loss | ORAL-HEALTH; TOOTH LOSS; GLOBAL BURDEN; EPIDEMIOLOGY; PROJECTIONS; PREVALENCE; RISK; LIFE | Cohort database; Edentulism; Elderly; Incidence; Korean National Health Service Insurance; Tooth loss | Aged; Female; Humans; Incidence; Income; Male; National Health Programs; Prevalence; Republic of Korea; aged; aging; Article; cohort analysis; dental procedure; edentulism; female; highest income group; human; incidence; income distribution; Korea; Korean (people); lowest income group; major clinical study; male; national health insurance; national health service; retrospective study; standardized incidence ratio; epidemiology; incidence; income; prevalence; public health; South Korea | English | 2022 | 2022-10-17 | 10.4178/epih.e2022091 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | |||
| ○ | ○ | Article | Introduction of helical photonic crystal insulator in organic phototransistor for enhancing selective color absorption | Organic phototransistors, with their electrically adjustable photo-sensing characteristics and mechanical flexibility, are promising components of multifunctional optoelectronics. For practical applications of the optoelectronics, it is essential to develop organic phototransistors with high photo-sensing performances and wavelength selectivity. Although, several studies have been conducted on improving the photo-sensing performances of organic phototransistors through the molecular engineering of organic materials, achieving improved light absorption and stable electrical performance remains a challenge. Here, we propose a new organic phototransistor structure that improves photo-sensing performances and wavelength selectivity by introducing helical photonic crystal (HPC) insulators. To realize the HPC film acting as a reliable insulator and an effective blue-wavelength reflector, a numerical analysis is performed. In the developed device, the blue light transmitting the semiconductor medium is effectively reflected by the HPC insulator, thereby improving the absorption of blue light in the channel region. Our device exhibits higher photo-sensing performances than the reference device without HPC film in terms of photosensitivity, photoresponsivity, and blue-wavelength selectivity. This novel concept of improving the wavelength selectivity of organic phototransistors will become an effective part of the development of practical photodetectors related to next-generation light and image sensors. | Park, Hea-Lim; Jun, Jongmin; Kim, Min-Hoi; Lee, Sin-Hyung | Seoul Natl Univ Sci & Technol, Dept Mat Sci & Engn, 232 Gongneung Ro, Seoul 01811, South Korea; Seoul Natl Univ, Sch Elect & Comp Engn, 1 Gwanak Ro, Seoul 08826, South Korea; Hanbat Natl Univ, Dept Creat Convergence Engn, Daejeon 305719, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Sch Elect Engn, 80 Daehak Ro, Daegu 41566, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Sch Elect & Elect Engn, 80 Daehak Ro, Daegu 41566, South Korea | ; Lee, Sin-Hyung/ABD-6425-2022 | 55735654600; 57316780600; 38260922200; 57226880204 | sinhlee@knu.ac.kr; | ORGANIC ELECTRONICS | ORG ELECTRON | 1566-1199 | 1878-5530 | 100 | SCIE | MATERIALS SCIENCE, MULTIDISCIPLINARY;PHYSICS, APPLIED | 2022 | 3.2 | 38.4 | 1.08 | 2025-06-25 | 15 | 14 | Organic phototransistors; Wavelength selectivity; Helical photonic crystal; Liquid crystalline polymer; Photosensitivity | PERFORMANCE; TRANSISTORS | Helical photonic crystal; Liquid crystalline polymer; Organic phototransistors; Photosensitivity; Wavelength selectivity | Crystal structure; Image enhancement; Light absorption; Light sensitive materials; Liquid crystal polymers; Photonic crystals; Phototransistors; Blue light; Blue wavelength; Helical photonic crystal; Mechanical flexibility; Molecular engineering; Organic phototransistors; Photonic crystal films; Sensing characteristics; Sensing performance; Wavelength Selectivity; Photosensitivity | English | 2022 | 2022-01 | 10.1016/j.orgel.2021.106385 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | ||
| ○ | ○ | Article | Phonon study of Jahn-Teller distortion and phase stability in NaMnO2 for sodium-ion batteries | Cathode materials undergo various phase transitions during the charge/discharge process, and the structural transitions significantly affect the battery performance. Although phonon properties can provide a direct clue for structural stability and transitions, it has been less explored in sodium cathode materials. Here, using the first-principles calculations, we investigate phonon and electronic properties of various layered NaMnO2 materials, especially focusing on the dependency of the Jahn-Teller distortion of Mn3+. The phonon dispersion curves show that the O'3 and P'2 structures with the Jahn-Teller distortion are dynamically stable in contrast to undistorted O3 and P2 structures. The structural instability of O3 and P2 structures is directly observed from the imaginary phonon frequencies, as so-called phonon soft modes, whose corresponding displacements are from O atoms distorting along the local Mn-O bond direction in the MnO6 octahedra. This is consistent with the experimental stability and a structural transition with the Jahn-Teller distortion at the high Na concentration. The orbital-decomposed density of states presents the orbital redistribution by the Jahn-Teller distortion, such as e(g)-band splitting in both O'3 and P'2 system, and the stability of O'3 and P & PRIME;2 is not sensitive to the electron-electron correlation. Our results demonstrate the importance of phonon analysis to further understand the structural stability and phase transitions in cathode materials. | ○ | ○ | Article | A new photoactivable NO-releasing {Ru-NO}⁶ ruthenium nitrosyl complex with a tetradentate ligand containing aniline and pyridine moieties | A new type of photoactivable NO-releasing ruthenium nitrosyl complex, [Ru(EPBP)Cl(NO)], with a tetradentate ligand, N,N'-(ethane-1,2-diyldi-o-phenylene)-bis(pyridine-2-carboxamide) (= H2EPBP) was synthesized. Single crystal X-ray crystallography revealed that the complex has a distorted octahedral coordination geometry and NO is positioned at cis to Cl- ion. NO-photolysis was observed under a white room light. The photodissociation of Ru-NO bond was identified by various techniques including X-ray crystallography, IR, UV/Vis absorption, electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR), and NMR spectroscopies. Quantum yields for the NO-photolysis of the complex in CH3OH, CHCl3, DMSO, CH3CN, and CH3NO2 were measured to be 0.19-0.36 with 400 (+/- 5) nm excitation. Density functional theory (DFT) and time-dependent density functional theory (TDDFT) calculations were performed to understand the details of the photodissociation of the complex. The calculations suggest that the NO photolysis is most likely initiated by the electronic transition from the aniline moiety pi MOs (pi (aniline)) of the EPBP2- chelating ligand to the pi-antibonding MO of Ru-NO (pi*(Ru-NO)). Experimental and theoretical investigations indicate that the EPBP2- ligand provides an effective platform forming ruthenium nitrosyl complexes useful for NO-photoreleasing. | Cho, Jang-Hoon; Kim, Minyoung; You, Youngmin; Lee, Hong-In | Kyungpook Natl Univ, Dept Chem, Daegu 41566, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Green Nano Res Ctr, Daegu 41566, South Korea; Ewha Womans Univ, Div Chem Engn & Mat Sci, Seoul 03760, South Korea; Ewha Womans Univ, Grad Program Syst Hlth Sci, Seoul 03760, South Korea | Lee, Hong-In/IXN-3185-2023; You, Youngmin/AGY-9191-2022 | 8402955600; 57223366791; 24759463600; 8509535000 | leehi@knu.ac.kr; | CHEMISTRY-AN ASIAN JOURNAL | CHEM-ASIAN J | 1861-4728 | 1861-471X | 17 | 2 | SCIE | CHEMISTRY, MULTIDISCIPLINARY | 2022 | 4.1 | 38.5 | 0.99 | 2025-06-25 | 12 | 11 | Ruthenium nitrosyl; NO photolysis; NO spin trap; Quantum yield; NO releasing complex | NITRIC-OXIDE NO; VISIBLE-LIGHT; PHOTO-RELEASE; BASIS-SETS; AB-INITIO; PHOTORELEASE; EPR; CHEMISTRY; DELIVERY; REACTIVITY | Aniline Compounds; Crystallography, X-Ray; Ligands; Pyridines; Ruthenium; Chlorine compounds; Density functional theory; Electron spin resonance spectroscopy; Ligands; Nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy; Paramagnetic resonance; Photolysis; Pyridine; Quantum yield; Ruthenium compounds; Single crystals; Synthesis (chemical); X ray crystallography; aniline derivative; ligand; pyridine derivative; ruthenium; Carboxamides; Nitrosyl complex; NO photolysis; NO releasing complex; NO spin trap; Pyridine-2; Ruthenium nitrosyl; Spin trap; Synthesised; Tetradentate ligands; X ray crystallography; Aniline | English | 2022 | 2022-01-17 | 10.1002/asia.202101244 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | ||

In this study, experiments of N2O thermal decomposition were conducted by simulating the exhaust gas atmosphere emitted during the combustion of air and pure oxygen in an actual circulating fluidized bed system and incinerator system. As a result of comparing the N2O reduction rate in N-2 and CO2 atmospheres, the N2O reduction rate in the CO2 atmosphere was 20% higher than that in the N-2 atmosphere. It is judged that the N2O reduction rate is high in a CO2 atmosphere (exhaust gas from pure oxygen combustion) due to complex factors such as the reverse reaction, the diffusion coefficient, and static pressure-specific heat. Therefore, pure oxygen combustion increases the reduction rate of nitrous oxide. In addition, when operated with an appropriate residence time and temperature, a reduction effect of more than 95% can be expected, and the fuel consumption rate is also expected to improve. | Yun, Jae Geun; Kim, Ji Yeop; Lee, Han Min; Baik, Gwang Yeol; Jeon, Min Kyu; Yun, Jin Han; Hong, Jung Goo | Kyungpook Natl Univ, Sch Mech Engn, Daegu 41566, South Korea; Korea Inst Machinery & Mat, Dept Environm Machinery, Daejeon 34103, South Korea | 57223914011; 57222525959; 57223914555; 57222529575; 57347105200; 23092447300; 24576652200 | jghong70@knu.ac.kr; | ACS OMEGA | ACS OMEGA | 2470-1343 | 7 | 4 | SCIE | CHEMISTRY, MULTIDISCIPLINARY | 2022 | 4.1 | 38.5 | 0.42 | 2025-06-25 | 6 | 6 | English | 2022 | 2022-02-01 | 10.1021/acsomega.1c05742 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | |||||||
| ○ | ○ | Review | Gadolinium Neutron Capture Therapy (GdNCT) Agents from Molecular to Nano: Current Status and Perspectives | Gd-157 (natural abundance = 15.7%) has the highest thermal neutron capture cross section (s) of 254,000 barns (1 barn = 10(-28) m(2)) among stable (nonradioactive) isotopes in the periodic table. Another stable isotope, Gd-155 (natural abundance = 14.8%), also has a high sigma value of 60,700 barns. These sigma values are higher than that of B-10 (3840 barns, natural abundance = 19.9%), which is currently used as a neutron-absorbing isotope for boron neutron capture therapy agents. Energetic particles such as electrons and gamma-rays emitted from Gd-isotopes after neutron beam absorption kill cancer cells by damaging DNAs inside cancer-cell nuclei without damaging normal cells if Gd-chemicals are positioned in cancer cells. To date, various Gd-chemicals such as commercial Gd-chelates used as magnetic resonance imaging contrast agents, modified Gd-chelates, nanocomposites containing Gd-chelates, fullerenes containing Gd, and solid-state Gd-nanoparticles have been investigated as gadolinium neutron capture therapy (GdNCT) agents. All GdNCT agents had exhibited cancer-cell killing effects, and the degree of the effects depended on the GdNCT agents used. This confirms that GdNCT is a promising cancer therapeutic technique. However, the commercial Gd-chelates were observed to be inadequate in clinical use because of their low accumulation in cancer cells due to their extracellular and noncancer targeting properties and rapid excretion. The other GdNCT agents exhibited higher accumulation in cancer cells, compared to Gd-chelates; consequently, they demonstrated higher cancer-cell killing effects. However, they still displayed limitations such as poor specificity to cancer cells. Therefore, continuous efforts should be made to synthesize GdNCT agents suitable in clinical applications. Herein, the principle of GdNCT, current status of GdNCT agents, and general design strategy for GdNCT agents in clinical use are discussed and reviewed. | Ho, Son Long; Yue, Huan; Tegafaw, Tirusew; Ahmad, Mohammad Yaseen; Liu, Shuwen; Nam, Sung-Wook; Chang, Yongmin; Lee, Gang Ho | Kyungpook Natl Univ, Dept Chem, Coll Nat Sci, Taegu 41566, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Sch Med, Dept Mol Med, Taegu 41405, South Korea | ; Nam, Sung-Wook/V-5519-2019; Ahmad, Mohammad/AAH-2164-2020; Ho, Son Long/P-3183-2015 | 55659242700; 57200329016; 55983618600; 57203054570; 57208926248; 16167127700; 7501840633; 7404851841 | ychang@knu.ac.kr;ghlee@mail.knu.ac.kr; | ACS OMEGA | ACS OMEGA | 2470-1343 | 7 | 3 | SCIE | CHEMISTRY, MULTIDISCIPLINARY | 2022 | 4.1 | 38.5 | 1.13 | 2025-06-25 | 44 | 46 | IN-VIVO EVALUATION; CONTRAST AGENTS; CHITOSAN NANOPARTICLES; COMPLEX NANOPARTICLES; GROWTH SUPPRESSION; TUMOR-ACCUMULATION; GD-DTPA; CANCER; BORON; DELIVERY | English | 2022 | 2022-01-25 | 10.1021/acsomega.1c06603 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | |||||
| ○ | ○ | Article | Pseudocapacitive Features of Freestanding Nickel-Zinc Organometallic Nanostructure for High-energy Density Coin-cell Asymmetric Supercapacitors | Binder-free two-dimensional mesh-like structure of nickel-zinc metal-organic framework on in-situ-coated carbon cloth (Ni-Zn MOF/CC) and Ni-Zn MOF powder were developed via a solvo-hydrothermal reaction for electrochemical storage application. The electrochemical properties of these electrodes show that the electrodes self-assembled on carbon cloth substrates exhibit remarkably excellent performance. The Ni-Zn MOF/CC electrode exhibited a capacitance of 653.54 F/g at 1 A/g through a capacity retaining of 87.65% after 10000 cycles. Furthermore, the Ni-Zn MOF//AC coin-cell asymmetric supercapacitor device (CASD) exhibited remarkable energy and power densities of 54.31 Wh/kg and 825 W/kg, respectively, with adequate capacitance retention up to 94.63% over 5000 cycles at 1.5 V. The CASD also exhibited a significant power density of 4950 W/kg at 19.67 W h/kg, which suggests that these in-situ developed MOF-based electrodes may discover application in energy storage devices. | Zeng, Jie; Deyarayapalli, Kamakshaiah Charyulu; Li, Changping; Vattikuti, S. | ○ | ○ | Article | Rapid and Efficient Removal of Anionic Dye in Water Using a Chitosan-Coated Iron Oxide-Immobilized Polyvinylidene Fluoride Membrane | Anionic dyes are one of the most serious contaminants in water as these molecules are known to be toxic to many living organisms. Herein, we report the development of functionalized polyvinylidene fluoride membranes modified with chitosan-coated iron oxide nanomaterials (Fe-PVDF) for the efficient treatment of anionic dye-contaminated water. Aqueous solutions of anionic dyes could be captured rapidly by passing through the functionalized membrane under reduced pressure. Under neutral conditions, Fe-PVDF showed a maximum removal capacity of 74.6 mg/g for Evans blue (EB) through the adsorption process. In addition, the adsorption capacity was significantly enhanced up to 434.78 mg/g under acidic conditions. The adsorption process for EB matched well with the Langmuir model, indicating monolayer adsorption of the dye to the membrane surface. Moreover, Fe-PVDF can be reusable by a simple washing step in an alkaline solution, and thus, the composite membrane was applied several times without a significant decrease in its adsorption performance. The same composite membrane was further applied to the removal of five other different anionic dyes with high efficiencies. The adsorption mechanism can be explained by the electrostatic interaction between the positively charged chitosan and the negatively charged dye as well as the affinity of the sulfate groups in dye molecules for the surface of the iron oxide nanoparticles. The easy preparation and rapid decolorization procedures make this composite membrane suitable for efficient water treatment. | Shin, Jun-Ho; Yang, Jung Eun; Park, Jung Eun; Jeong, Sun-Wook; Choi, Sang-June; Choi, Yong Jun; Jeon, Jongho | Kyungpook Natl Univ, Coll Engn, Dept Appl Chem, Daegu 41566, South Korea; World Inst Kimchi, Dept Adv Proc Technol & Fermentat, Gwangju 61755, South Korea; Univ Seoul, Sch Environm Engn, Seoul 02504, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Sch Architectural Civil Environm & Energy Engn, Daegu 41566, South Korea | 양, 정은/ABV-6071-2022 | 57470882100; 55661800000; 57210160353; 56085303400; 56605563600; 57111090300; 35082028100 | yongjun2165@uos.ac.kr;jeonj@knu.ac.kr; | ACS OMEGA | ACS OMEGA | 2470-1343 | 7 | 10 | SCIE | CHEMISTRY, MULTIDISCIPLINARY | 2022 | 4.1 | 38.5 | 2.79 | 2025-06-25 | 36 | 40 | AQUEOUS-SOLUTION; WASTE-WATER; METHYLENE-BLUE; ORGANIC-DYES; ADSORPTION; BIODEGRADATION; COAGULATION; DEGRADATION; ADSORBENTS | English | 2022 | 2022-03-15 | 10.1021/acsomega.1c06991 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | |||||
| ○ | ○ | Article | Room-Temperature High-Detectivity Flexible Near-Infrared Photodetectors with Chalcogenide Silver Telluride Nanoparticles | Herein, flexible near-infrared (NIR) photodetectors were prepared using silver telluride (Ag5Te3) nanoparticles (NPs) for optoelectronic applications. For the main channel materials of the photodetectors, Ag5Te3 NPs were used, which were synthesized in an aqueous solution. Moreover, Ag5Te3 thin films were successfully fabricated on plastic substrates at 150 degrees C using redistributed Ag5Te3 NPs in aqueous inks. The crystal structure, chemistry, and optoelectronic properties of the synthesized photodetectors were studied. The fabricated flexible Ag5Te3-based photodetectors achieved a detectivity of 6.27 x 10(9) cm Hz(1/2) W-1 (>10(9)) at room temperature under similar to 0.35% compressive and tensile strains. The obtained detectivity value exceeds those of two-dimensional inorganic layered material phototransistors-such as MoS2-or commercial thermistor bolometers at room temperature (similar to 10(9)). Furthermore, the proposed novel method for the synthesis of Ag5Te3 thin films on plastic substrates can be applied to other Ag5Te3-based applications in the future. | Lee, Won-Yong; Kim, Kyoungdu; Lee, Sin-Hyung; Bae, Jin-Hyuk; Kang, In-Man; Park, Minsu; Kim, Kwangeun; Jang, Jaewon | Kyungpook Natl Univ, Sch Elect & Elect Engn, Daegu 41566, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Sch Elect Engn, Daegu 41566, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Dept Chem Sci & Engn, Daegu 41566, South Korea; Korea Aerosp Univ, Sch Elect & Informat Engn, Goyang 10540, South Korea | ; Lee, Sin-Hyung/ABD-6425-2022 | 57209527128; 57221754528; 57226880204; 35326180700; 7203062678; 57402583800; 36004977500; 57194107504 | jljang@knu.ac.kr;j1jang@knu.ac.kr; | ACS OMEGA | ACS OMEGA | 2470-1343 | 7 | 12 | SCIE | CHEMISTRY, MULTIDISCIPLINARY | 2022 | 4.1 | 38.5 | 0.77 | 2025-06-25 | 13 | 11 | English | 2022 | 2022-03-29 | 10.1021/acsomega.1c06870 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 |
