| ○ | ○ | Article | Enhancement of photocatalytic NO oxidation by Ag-sulfide on TiO2 mixed with Na-ZSM-5 | Enhancing NO oxidation performance is pivotal for integrating photocatalysts with wet scrubbers in continuous flow systems. Despite the recent development of various catalysts, such as MOFs, our goal was to simplify the composition by using photocatalyst + zeolite catalyst, bringing us closer to a catalyst that can be practically applied. In this study, we have utilized Ag2S doping and Na-ZSM-5 mixing to improve the photocatalytic NO oxidation performance. Results showed that Ag2S doping improved visible light absorbance and NO oxidation, despite the observed fluctuations in NO conversion being attributable to mass transfer limitations. Mixing with Na-ZSM-5 compensated for the mass transfer limitations and improved its average NO conversion from 19 to 34%. The Na-ZSM-5 increased the NO adsorption capacity considerably to 0.67 mmol g- 1, which reduced the fluctuations in the catalytic performance; subsequently, the diffusion of NO led to its oxidation. Detailed analyses using NO-TPD and DRIFTS further elucidated these improvements, highlighting the significance of optimizing both oxidation reaction and mass transfer rates in the photocatalytic process. We believed that the composite of Ag2S-TiO2 + Na-ZSM-5 could simplify the ways to improve the photocatalytic NO oxidation performance and make it closer to practical applications. | Bin Bae, Wo; Kim, Do Yeong; Shin, Hyeonwoo; Go, You Jin; Bang, Jiwon; Hong, Jong Wook; Kim, Young Jin; Hazlett, Melanie J.; Kang, Sung Bong | Gwangju Inst Sci & Technol, Sch Earth Sci & Environm Engn, 123 Cheomdan Gwagiro, Gwangju 61005, South Korea; Incheon Natl Univ, Dept Chem, Incheon 22012, South Korea; Univ Ulsan, Dept Chem, Ulsan 44610, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Dept Environm Engn, 80 Daehak Ro, Daegu 41566, South Korea; Concordia Univ, Gina Cody Sch Engn & Comp Sci, Chem & Mat Engn, Montreal, PQ H4B 1R6, Canada; Gwangju Inst Sci & Technol, Res Ctr Innovat Energy & Carbon Optimized Synth Ch, Gwangju 61005, South Korea | Hazlett, Melanie Jane/G-5799-2018; Hazlett, Melanie/G-5799-2018 | 57218296461; 57481464200; 57654657000; 59141278000; 16644984600; 57215820078; 59054565400; 56849465900; 59969495200 | sbkang@gist.ac.kr; | JOURNAL OF INDUSTRIAL AND ENGINEERING CHEMISTRY | J IND ENG CHEM | 1226-086X | 1876-794X | 140 | SCIE | CHEMISTRY, MULTIDISCIPLINARY;ENGINEERING, CHEMICAL | 2024 | 6 | 19.7 | 0 | 2025-05-07 | 0 | 0 | Photocatalyst; Ag 2 S-doping; Na-ZSM-5; NO oxidation; Surface adsorption | SELECTIVE CATALYTIC-REDUCTION; ADSORPTION; REMOVAL; NANOPARTICLES; OXIDES; O-2 | Ag2S-doping; Na-ZSM-5; NO oxidation; Photocatalyst; Surface adsorption | Catalysts; Catalytic oxidation; Mass transfer; Mixing; Reaction rates; Silver compounds; Sodium compounds; Titanium dioxide; Zeolites; Ag2S-doping; Mass transfer limitation; Na-ZSM-5; NO conversion; NO oxidation; Performance; Photo-catalytic; Surface adsorption; Wet scrubbers; ]+ catalyst; Sulfur compounds | English | 2024 | 2024-12-25 | 10.1016/j.jiec.2024.05.043 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | ||
| ○ | Article | Fabrication of recessed-gate AlGaN/GaN MOSFETs using TMAH wet etching with Cu ion implantation | In this study, recessed-gate AlGaN/GaN MOSFETs were fabricated using a novel recess etching method––TMAH wet etching with Cu ion implantation. This innovative approach injects Cu ions selectively into the target AlGaN layer, creating defects that are then etched with a TMAH solution, dissolving Ga along with the defect. Compared to the conventional GaN recess etching method of ICP-RIE dry etching, TMAH wet etching offers more precise etching without causing plasma damage on the etched surface. To demonstrate the superiority of TMAH wet etching, devices fabricated with this method were analyzed and compared with devices fabricated using ICP-RIE dry etching. The AFM images of the etched surface demonstrated the superior stability of TMAH wet etching. In addition, electrical characteristics measurements revealed that the devices using TMAH wet etching exhibited a higher on-current (295.05 mA/mm), lower gate lag rate (15.98 %), and a higher breakdown voltage (733 V) than ICP-RIE etched devices. © 2024 The Author(s) | Heo, Jun Hyeok; Lee, Sang Ho; Park, Jin; Kang, Ga Eon; Yoon, Young Jun; Kang, In Man | School of Electronic and Electrical Engineering, Kyungpook National University, Daegu, 41566, South Korea; School of Electronic and Electrical Engineering, Kyungpook National University, Daegu, 41566, South Korea; School of Electronic and Electrical Engineering, Kyungpook National University, Daegu, 41566, South Korea; School of Electronic and Electrical Engineering, Kyungpook National University, Daegu, 41566, South Korea; Department of Electronic Engineering, Andong National University, Andong, 36729, South Korea; School of Electronic and Electrical Engineering, Kyungpook National University, Daegu, 41566, South Korea | 57884155500; 57416738400; 57376422900; 57883409400; 57218864885; 7203062678 | yjyoon@anu.ac.kr; | Results in Physics | RESULTS PHYS | 2211-3797 | 2211-3797 | 60 | SCIE | MATERIALS SCIENCE, MULTIDISCIPLINARY;PHYSICS, MULTIDISCIPLINARY | 2024 | 4.6 | 19.7 | 0.35 | 2025-05-07 | 2 | AlGaN/GaN heterojunction; Enhancement mode high electron mobility transistor (E-mode HEMT); GaN power device; Ion implantation | English | Final | 2024 | 10.1016/j.rinp.2024.107701 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | |||||||||
| ○ | ○ | Article | Frequency-Dependent Dielectric Permittivity and Water Permeability in Ordered Mesoporous Silica-Grafted Fluorinated Polyimides | Polymers with a low dielectric constant (D-k) are promising materials for high-speed communication networks, which demand exceptional thermal stability, ultralow D-k and dissipation factor, and minimum moisture absorption. In this paper, we prepared a series of novel low-D-k polyimide films containing an MCM-41-type amino-functionalized mesoporous silica (AMS) via in situ polymerization and subsequent thermal imidization and investigated their morphologies, thermal properties, frequency-dependent dielectric behaviors, and water permeabilities. Incorporating 6 wt.% AMS reduced the D-k at 1 MHz from 2.91 of the pristine fluorinated polyimide (FPI) to 2.67 of the AMS-grafted FPI (FPI-g-AMS), attributed to the free volume and low polarizability of fluorine moieties in the backbone and the incorporation of air voids within the mesoporous AMS particles. The FPI-g-AMS films presented a stable dissipation factor across a wide frequency range. Introducing a silane coupling agent increased the hydrophobicity of AMS surfaces, which inhibited the approaching of the water molecules, avoiding the hydrolysis of Si-O-Si bonds of the AMS pore walls. The increased tortuosity caused by the AMS particles also reduced water permeability. All the FPI-g-AMS films displayed excellent thermooxidative/thermomechanical stability, including a high 5% weight loss temperature (>531 degrees C), char residue at 800 degrees C (>51%), and glass transition temperature (>300 degrees C). | Son, Jaemin; Park, Hwon; Kim, Minju; Park, Jae Hui; Nam, Ki-Ho; Bae, Jin-Seok | Kyungpook Natl Univ, Dept Text Syst Engn, Coll Engn, Daegu 41566, South Korea | 57578830900; 57577493500; 57203466947; 59196167500; 55553181500; 8857273700 | woals4272@knu.ac.kr;sd9854@naver.com;qminjup@knu.ac.kr;kah142@knu.ac.kr;knam@knu.ac.kr;jbae@knu.ac.kr; | POLYMERS | POLYMERS-BASEL | 2073-4360 | 16 | 12 | SCIE | POLYMER SCIENCE | 2024 | 4.9 | 19.7 | 0.64 | 2025-05-07 | 1 | 2 | fluorinated polyimide; amino-functionalized mesoporous silica; hydrophobic cross-linked network; dielectric constant; water permeability | CONSTANT; FILMS; COMPOSITE | amino-functionalized mesoporous silica; dielectric constant; fluorinated polyimide; hydrophobic cross-linked network; water permeability | Coupling agents; Glass transition; Grafting (chemical); Hydrophobicity; Low-k dielectric; Mesoporous materials; Molecules; Polyimides; Silica; Amino-functionalized mesoporous silicas; Crosslinked networks; Dissipation factors; Fluorinated polyimides; Frequency-dependent dielectric permittivity; Hydrophobic cross-linked network; Hydrophobics; Mesoporous silica film; Mesoporous silica particles; Water permeability; Permittivity | English | 2024 | 2024-06 | 10.3390/polym16121716 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | |||
| ○ | ○ | Article | Magnetic mesoporous carbon as excellent adsorptive material for arsenic removal from aqueous environment | A magnetic mesoporous carbon (MC) with high functionality was fabricated by direct thermolysis and carbonization of bimetallic metal-organic frameworks (M/Fe-MOF, where M = La3+ 3 + or Zr4+). 4 + ). The as-prepared materials such as La-Fe@MC and Zr-Fe@MC displayed excellent adsorption performance towards the removal of arsenite and arsenate ions in an aqueous solution. The physicochemical properties of prepared adsorbents before and after adsorption were characterized by using various analytical techniques. Various influencing parameters such as contact time, solution pH, co-existing anion, and regeneration experiments were analyzed to determine the maximum adsorption capacity for both arsenic species using the as-synthesized adsorbents. The La-Fe@MC composite showed a higher adsorption capacity for both contaminants when compared to Zr-Fe@MC composite and the maximum monolayer adsorption capacity of As(III) and As(V) ions were 116.25 and 166.67 mg/g for La-Fe@MC and 109.89 and 144.93 mg/g for Zr-Fe@MC, respectively. The Langmuir isotherm and pseudo- second-order kinetic models were the optimum fit for As(III) and As(V) species adsorption on both the adsorbents. The magnetic La-Fe@MC and Zr-Fe@MC materials exhibited excellent reusability even after five adsorption cycles. This study provides significant insights into the development of promising candidates for eliminating As(III) and As(V) ions from aqueous solutions. | Govarthanan, M.; Mythili, R.; Kim, Woong | Kyungpook Natl Univ, Dept Environm Engn, Daegu 41566, South Korea; Saveetha Univ, Saveetha Inst Med & Tech Sci, Saveetha Dent Coll & Hosp, Dept Biomat, Chennai 600077, Tamil Nadu, India | Muthusamy, Govarthanan/C-1491-2014 | 54881927600; 56765761500; 55581636400 | elshine@knu.ac.kr; | JOURNAL OF INDUSTRIAL AND ENGINEERING CHEMISTRY | J IND ENG CHEM | 1226-086X | 1876-794X | 137 | SCIE | CHEMISTRY, MULTIDISCIPLINARY;ENGINEERING, CHEMICAL | 2024 | 6 | 19.7 | 1.27 | 2025-05-07 | 5 | 5 | Adsorption; Arsenite; Arsenate; Metal-organic framework; Porous carbon | AS(V) REMOVAL; LANTHANUM; WATER; IRON; AS(III) | Adsorption; Arsenate; Arsenite; Metal–organic framework; Porous carbon | Carbon; Carbonization; Ions; Isotherms; Molar ratio; Monolayers; Physicochemical properties; Pollution control; Porous materials; Reusability; Adsorption capacities; Adsorptive materials; Arsenate; Arsenic removal; Arsenite; Carbon composites; Magnetic mesoporous carbons; Mesoporous carbon; Metalorganic frameworks (MOFs); Porous carbons; Adsorption | English | 2024 | 2024-09-25 | 10.1016/j.jiec.2024.02.054 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | ||
| ○ | ○ | Article | Microglial activation-sensitive gadolinium complex as a potential MRI contrast agent for Alzheimer's disease diagnosis | Numerous studies have developed gadolinium (Gd)-based contrast agents (GBCAs) for in-vivo magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) with the aim of diagnosing Alzheimer's disease (AD). Nevertheless, GBCAs that are capable of identifying microglial activation, a critical early indicator of AD pathology, for in-vivo diagnosis remain scarce. In response to this, we synthesized a novel GBCA, Gd-DO3A-Va, designed specifically to detect microglial activation using MRI. This innovative GBCA, which was conjugated with vanillic acid, demonstrated a high selectivity for microglial activation by targeting Toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4). The use of Gd-DO3A-Va in in-vivo imaging successfully highlighted microglial activation in a transgenic AD mouse model. In particular, the use of Gd-DO3A-Va for contrast-enhanced T1-weighted MRI enabled the detection of microglial activation within the hippocampus and cortex, regions notably affected by AD. The observed enhancements in the MR contrast correlated well with immunohistological evidence of microglial activation. Consequently, Gd-DO3A-Va represents a highly promising GBCA for the identification of microglial activation, providing a novel pathway for the molecular diagnosis of AD. | Sung, Bokyung; Jeon, Min-Tae; Kim, Hee-Kyung; Baek, Ah Rum; Kim, Dong-Seon; Kim, Soyeon; Kim, Minsup; Kim, Dong-Kyu; Kim, Do-Geun; Chang, Yongmin | Kyungpook Natl Univ, ICT Convergence Res Ctr, 80 Daehak Ro, Daegu 41566, South Korea; Korea Brain Res Inst, Dementia Res Grp, Daegu 41062, South Korea; Daegu Gyeongbuk Med Innovat Fdn K MEDI Hub, Preclin Res Ctr, Daegu 41061, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Inst Biomed Engn Res, Daegu 41405, South Korea; Korea Inst Radiol & Med Sci KIRAMS, Div Appl RI, 75 Nowon Ro, Seoul 01812, South Korea; TARS Sci, Seoul 01662, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ Hosp, Dept Radiol, Daegu 41944, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Sch Med, Dept Mol Med, Daegu 41944, South Korea | Kim, Dong-Kyu/AAC-8707-2019 | 58929528400; 56018969800; 56014729400; 59172624800; 58291623700; 57203773250; 56122945800; 57779034700; 55797863700; 7501840633 | dgkim728@kmedihub.re.kr;kimvet0911@kbri.re.kr;ychang@knu.ac.kr; | JOURNAL OF INDUSTRIAL AND ENGINEERING CHEMISTRY | J IND ENG CHEM | 1226-086X | 1876-794X | 140 | SCIE | CHEMISTRY, MULTIDISCIPLINARY;ENGINEERING, CHEMICAL | 2024 | 6 | 19.7 | 0 | 2025-05-07 | 0 | 0 | Alzheimer's disease; MRI; Contrast agent; Microglia | SERUM-ALBUMIN; ACID; RELAXIVITY; STABILITY; BINDING; PROTEIN | Alzheimer's disease; Contrast agent; Microglia; MRI | Chemical activation; Diagnosis; Gadolinium compounds; Molecular biology; Neurodegenerative diseases; Alzheimers disease; Contrast agent; Disease diagnosis; Early indicators; Gadolinia; Gadolinium complexes; In-vivo; Magnetic resonance imaging contrast agents; Microglia; Microglial activations; Magnetic resonance imaging | English | 2024 | 2024-12-25 | 10.1016/j.jiec.2024.06.014 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | ||
| ○ | ○ | Article | Normally-Off Trench-Gated AlGaN/GaN Current Aperture Vertical Electron Transistor with Double Superjunction | This study proposes an AlGaN/GaN current aperture vertical electron transistor (CAVET) featuring a double superjunction (SJ) to enhance breakdown voltage (BV) and investigates its electrical characteristics via technology computer-aided design (TCAD) Silvaco Atlas simulation. An additional p-pillar was formed beneath the gate current blocking layer to create a lateral depletion region that provided a high off-state breakdown voltage. To address the tradeoff between the drain current and off-state breakdown voltage, the key design parameters were carefully optimized. The proposed device exhibited a higher off-state breakdown voltage (2933 V) than the device with a single SJ (2786 V), although the specific on-resistance of the proposed method (1.29 m Omegacm(-2)) was slightly higher than that of the single SJ device (1.17 m Omegacm(-2)). In addition, the reverse transfer capacitance was improved by 15.6% in the proposed device. | Kim, Jong-Uk; Park, Do-Yeon; Park, Byeong-Jun; Hahm, Sung-Ho | Kyungpook Natl Univ, Sch Elect & Elect Engn, Daegu 41566, South Korea | 59492724800; 59492029300; 58596544800; 7006791831 | kim960604@naver.com;bbakdo802@naver.com;qudwns27@knu.ac.kr;shhahm@knu.ac.kr; | TECHNOLOGIES | TECHNOLOGIES | 2227-7080 | 12 | 12 | ESCI | ENGINEERING, MULTIDISCIPLINARY | 2024 | 3.6 | 19.7 | 0 | 2025-05-07 | 0 | 0 | superjunction; current aperture vertical electron transistor (CAVET); vertical HEMTs; breakdown voltage (BV); reverse transfer capacitance (C-rss) | FIELD-EFFECT TRANSISTORS; SIMULATION; HEMTS | breakdown voltage (BV); current aperture vertical electron transistor (CAVET); reverse transfer capacitance (Crss); superjunction; vertical HEMTs | English | 2024 | 2024-12 | 10.3390/technologies12120262 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | ||||
| ○ | ○ | Review | Phenylethynyl-Terminated Imide Oligomer-Based Thermoset Resins | Phenylethynyl-terminated imide (PETI) oligomers are highly valued for their diverse applications in films, moldings, adhesives, and composite material matrices. PETIs can be synthesized at varying molecular weights, enabling the fine-tuning of their properties to meet specific application requirements. Upon thermal curing, these oligomers form super-rigid network structures that enhance solvent resistance, increase glass-transition temperatures, and improve elastic moduli. Their low molecular weights and melt viscosities further facilitate processing, making them particularly suitable for composites and adhesive bonding. This review examines recent advancements in developing ultra-high-temperature PETIs, focusing on their structure-processing-properties relationships. It begins with an overview of the historical background and key physicochemical characteristics of PETIs, followed by a detailed discussion of PETIs synthesized from monomers featuring noncoplanar configurations (including kink and cardo structures), fluorinated groups, flexible linkages, and liquid crystalline mesogenic structures. The review concludes by addressing current challenges in this research field and exploring potential future directions. | Kim, Minju; Kim, Kiyeong; Lee, Joon Hyuk; Jeon, Eunkyung; Song, Jungkun; Choi, Jaeho; Yeo, Hyeonuk; Nam, Ki-Ho | Kyungpook Natl Univ, Dept Text Syst Engn, Daegu 41566, South Korea; Agcy Def Dev, POB 35, Daejeon 34186, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Dept Chem Educ, Daegu 41566, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Sch Appl Chem Engn, Daegu 41566, South Korea | Yeo, Hyeonuk/AHE-0397-2022; yeo, hyeonuk/G-7890-2017; Lee, Joon Hyuk/AAS-1755-2020 | 57203466947; 59387553600; 57201905002; 57204466122; 57204465785; 55722492000; 55324816500; 55553181500 | knam@knu.ac.kr; | POLYMERS | POLYMERS-BASEL | 2073-4360 | 16 | 20 | SCIE | POLYMER SCIENCE | 2024 | 4.9 | 19.7 | 0.12 | 2025-05-07 | 1 | 1 | thermoset resin; phenylethynyl-terminated imide oligomer; structure parameters; composite material matrix | FLUORINATED POLYIMIDE; DIANHYDRIDE; TEMPERATURE; VISCOSITY; FILMS; OLIGOIMIDES; COMPOSITES; MATRIX; CURE | composite material matrix; phenylethynyl-terminated imide oligomer; structure parameters; thermoset resin | Adhesives; Elastomers; Glass bonding; Gluing; Thermosets; Composite material matrix; Composites material; Diverse applications; Film materials; matrix; Phenylethynyl terminated imides; Phenylethynyl-terminated imide oligomer; Structure parameter; Synthesised; Thermoset resin; Oligomers | English | 2024 | 2024-10 | 10.3390/polym16202947 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | ||
| ○ | ○ | Article | Preparation and Properties of Mechanically Robust, Colorless, and Transparent Aramid Films | In this study, various diamine monomers were used to synthesize aramid polymer films via a low-temperature solution condensation reaction with diacid chloride. For diamines with relatively high basicity, the reaction system became opaque because amine salt formation inhibited polymer synthesis. Meanwhile, low-basicity diamines with strong electron-withdrawing groups, such as CF3 and sulfone, were smoothly polymerized without amine salt formation to provide highly viscous solutions. The acid byproduct HCl generated during polymerization was removed by adding propylene oxide to the reaction vessel and converting the acid into highly volatile inert substances. The resulting solutions were used as varnishes without any additional purification, and polymer films with an excellent appearance were easily obtained through a conventional casting and convection drying process. The films neither tore nor broke when pulled or bent by hand; furthermore, even when heated up to 400 degrees C, they did not decompose or melt. Moreover, polymers prepared from 2,2-bis(trifluoromethyl)benzidine (TFMB) and bis(4-aminophenyl)sulfone (pAPS) did not exhibit glass transition until decomposition. The prepared polymer films showed a high elastic modulus of more than 4.1 GPa and a high tensile strength of more than 52 MPa. In particular, TFMB-, pAPS-, and 2,2-bis(4-aminophenyl)hexafluoropropane-based polymer films were colorless and transparent, with very high light transmittances of 95%, 96%, and 91%, respectively, at 420 nm and low yellow indexes of 2.4, 1.9, and 4.3, respectively. | Kim, Heesang; Noh, Jin-Hee; Kim, Young-Rae; Kim, Hyojin; Kwak, Giseop | Kyungpook Natl Univ, Dept Polymer Sci & Engn, Polymer Nanomat Lab, 1370 Sankyuk Dong, Daegu 41566, South Korea; Ind Innovat Div, Adv Mat & Components Ctr, Daegu Technopk,46-17 Seongseogongdan Ro, Daegu 42716, South Korea | ; , Giseop/M-8370-2018 | 57226091356; 58619645100; 57207443008; 57202516002; 17137322300 | wsk1025@naver.com;jhnoh@dgtp.or.kr;xornjs147@naver.com;hjkim@dgtp.or.kr;gkwak@knu.ac.kr; | POLYMERS | POLYMERS-BASEL | 2073-4360 | 16 | 5 | SCIE | POLYMER SCIENCE | 2024 | 4.9 | 19.7 | 1.6 | 2025-05-07 | 4 | 5 | aramid film; acid removal; tensile strength; elastic modulus; transmittance; yellow index | acid removal; aramid film; elastic modulus; tensile strength; transmittance; yellow index | Amines; Aramid fibers; Chlorine compounds; Condensation reactions; Elastic moduli; Film preparation; Glass transition; Semiconducting films; Temperature; Tensile strength; Acid removal; Amine salts; Aramid film; Diamine monomers; Mechanically robust; Property; Salt formation; Transmittance; Trifluoromethyl; Yellow index; Polymer films | English | 2024 | 2024-03 | 10.3390/polym16050575 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | |||
| ○ | ○ | Article | Silver Nanoparticle-Aminogylcosides Conjugation for Enhanced Control of Pathogenic E. Coli O157:H7 | This study ventures into unexplored realms by investigating the combined efficacy of aminoglycosides (amikacin (AMI), gentamicin (GEN), kanamycin (KAN), streptomycin (STR), and tobramycin (TOB)) and silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) against pathogenic E. coli, offering a novel approach to combating antibiotic resistance. A noticeable transformation in color from a soft yellow to a rich brown marked the transition of silver ions to AgNPs, a process visually captured over 42 h. Morphological investigations showcased untreated E. coli cells retaining their natural rod shape, contrasted by AgNP treated cells that displayed considerable structural damage, signifying compromised cellular integrity. Antibacterial experiments, involving MIC and MBC tests, unveiled an increased effectiveness of antibiotics when paired with AgNPs, demonstrating a remarkable synergistic relationship. Time-kill assays provided a bacterial reductions, highlighting the boosted antibacterial action resulting from the combined application of AgNPs and antibiotics. The combination of TOB with AgNPs displayed the most substantial biofilm reduction, reaching at 19.87%. Fascinatingly, the armA gene was observed in bacterial cultures exposed to a TOB (2MIC), but its non-detection in cultures treated with a mix of 2MIC TOB and AgNP stood out as particularly noteworthy. This research unveiled a crucial finding where the antibacterial effectiveness of aminoglycosides consistently improved when combined with AgNPs. The findings suggested a promising direction for further research into the synergistic effects of antibiotics and nanoparticle adjuncts. Understanding the underlying mechanisms of this interaction could provide valuable insights into combating bacterial resistance, particularly in strains that are resistant to conventional antibiotic treatments. | Lee, Eon-Bee; Lee, Kyubae | Kyungpook Natl Univ, Coll Vet Med, Lab Vet Pharmacokinet & Pharmacodynam, Daegu 41566, South Korea; Konyang Univ, Dept Biomed Mat, Daejeon 35365, South Korea | ; Lee, Kyubae/IXN-5539-2023; Lee, Jung Bok/HHZ-3200-2022 | 57216526135; 57211256250 | eonbee@gmail.com;power7903@icloud.com; | JOURNAL OF INORGANIC AND ORGANOMETALLIC POLYMERS AND MATERIALS | J INORG ORGANOMET P | 1574-1443 | 1574-1451 | 34 | 6 | SCIE | POLYMER SCIENCE | 2024 | 4.9 | 19.7 | 0.36 | 2025-05-07 | 2 | 2 | Silver nanoparticles; Aminoglycosides; E. coli; Antibacterial resistance | AMINOGLYCOSIDE RESISTANCE; MECHANISM; ENZYME; INDEX; ARMA | Aminoglycosides; Antibacterial resistance; E. coli; Silver nanoparticles | Antibiotics; Escherichia coli; Metal ions; Metal nanoparticles; Amikacin; Aminoglycosides; Antibacterial resistance; Antibacterials; E. coli; E.coli O157:H7; Kanamycins; Pathogenic E-Coli; Pathogenic E. coli; Tobramycin; Silver nanoparticles | English | 2024 | 2024-06 | 10.1007/s10904-024-03015-5 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | |
| ○ | Article | Statistical analysis of vertically stacked nanosheet complementary FET based on polycrystalline silicon with multiple grain boundaries | In this study, a complementary field-effect transistor (CFET) based on a polycrystalline silicon (poly-Si) stacked-nanosheet (NS) structure with a grain boundary (GB) is designed and analyzed using a technology computer-aided design (TCAD) simulation. The advantage of the CFET using a poly-Si is that the active cell region can be reduced by 50 % because the p-type transistors are vertically stacked on the n-type transistors. In addition, it is possible to replace the conventional CMOS process and fabricate a three-dimensional vertically stacked structure at a low cost. To consider the effect of the GB in poly-Si, we assumed that there is a single GB at the center of the body region. By optimizing the geometrical parameters of the proposed CFET, the transfer characteristics of the NMOS and PMOS transistors, such as the threshold voltage (Vth), on current (Ion), off current (Ioff), and subthreshold swing (SS), are symmetrical. The proposed CFET demonstrated a superior logic performance of NML = 0.299 V and NMH = 0.297 V at an operation voltage of VDD = 0.65 V. To consider random GBs in the poly-Si, we assumed that five GBs existed in the proposed CFET, and the variation in CMOS logic inverter characteristics are statistically analyzed. As a result, the RSDs for Vm of the NMOS and PMOS transistors are 2.067 % and 0.293 %, and the RSDs of the pull-down delay time (tpHL) and pull-up delay time (tpLH) are 5.320 % and 3.244 %, respectively. An acceptor-like traps with high trap density are dominant in the proposed CFET, and this trend is similar across the 1024 samples. Nevertheless, most of the differences are within 5 % and the proposed CFET exhibited stability against GBs and the potential to replace the conventional CMOS logic inverters. © 2024 | Park, Jin; Ho Lee, Sang; Ra Jeon, So; Seok Kim, Min; Ji Bae, Seung; Woo Hong, Jeong; San Yun, Gang; Suk Koh, Won; Jang, Jaewon; Bae, Jin-Hyuk; Jun Yoon, Young; Man Kang, In | School of Electronic and Electrical Engineering, Kyungpook National University, Daegu, 702-201, South Korea; School of Electronic and Electrical Engineering, Kyungpook National University, Daegu, 702-201, South Korea; School of Electronic and Electrical Engineering, Kyungpook National University, Daegu, 702-201, South Korea; School of Electronic and Electrical Engineering, Kyungpook National University, Daegu, 702-201, South Korea; School of Electronic and Electrical Engineering, Kyungpook National University, Daegu, 702-201, South Korea; School of Electronic and Electrical Engineering, Kyungpook National University, Daegu, 702-201, South Korea; School of Electronic and Electrical Engineering, Kyungpook National University, Daegu, 702-201, South Korea; School of Electronic and Electrical Engineering, Kyungpook National University, Daegu, 702-201, South Korea; School of Electronic and Electrical Engineering, Kyungpook National University, Daegu, 702-201, South Korea; School of Electronic and Electrical Engineering, Kyungpook National University, Daegu, 702-201, South Korea; Department of Electronic Engineering, Andong National University, 1375 Gyengdong-ro, Andong, 36729, South Korea; School of Electronic and Electrical Engineering, Kyungpook National University, Daegu, 702-201, South Korea | 57376422900; 12762701000; 59219367600; 56454510200; 59219528800; 59219611000; 59219528900; 59219367700; 57194107504; 35326180700; 13403510100; 7203062678 | imkang@ee.knu.ac.kr; | Results in Physics | RESULTS PHYS | 2211-3797 | 2211-3797 | 63 | SCIE | MATERIALS SCIENCE, MULTIDISCIPLINARY;PHYSICS, MULTIDISCIPLINARY | 2024 | 4.6 | 19.7 | 0 | 2025-05-07 | 0 | CMOS logic inverter; complementary field-effect transistor (CFET); Grain boundary; Metal–oxide–semiconductor field-effect transistor; Polycrystalline silicon; Statistical analysis | English | Final | 2024 | 10.1016/j.rinp.2024.107873 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | |||||||||
| ○ | ○ | Article | Survival Is Just the Beginning of Recovery: A Qualitative Study of Survivors' Experiences after Severe Injury | Purpose: Patients experience severe physical trauma every year. However, studies on survivors' experiences after severe injury are limited. Previous studies have mainly focused on time spans of trauma treatment. This study aimed to comprehensively explore survivors' experiences to improve the current quality of trauma treatment and highlight the importance of patient-centered care. Materials and Methods: Structured, face-to-face interviews with six domains were conducted on survivors aged >= 18 years who were previously hospitalized in an intensive care unit due to traumatic injuries. Self-reported questionnaires were administered for a multidimensional assessment of participants' conditions. Transcripts of each narrative were analyzed per grounded theory. Results: Fourteen participants were assessed. The median injury severity score was 25.5. The median elapsed time from injury to interview was 17.3 months. The physical and psychiatric difficulties of the participants remained unresolved even after completing rehabilitation. The main theme derived from the narratives were struggle with injury, consequences, and contributing factors, with the following subthemes: 1) suffering from injury and treatment, 2) psychological adaptation to the changed self and life after the accident, 3) significant family support, 4) gratitude to medical staff despite inadequacies in the healthcare system, and 5) legal and economic issues that impede recovery. Conclusion: Increased efforts focusing on enabling survivors of severe injury to return to society and improve their quality of life are needed, including the establishment of patient-centered care in the trauma field, extended care for the survivors' families, multidisciplinary treatment, and the collection of quantitative post-discharge data. | Kang, Jiyeon; Lee, Shin Ae; Joo, Yeon Jin; Park, Hye Yoon; Chang, Ye Rim | Kyungpook Natl Univ, Sch Med, Dept Med Humanities & Educ, Daegu, South Korea; Seoul Natl Univ, Coll Med, Dept Surg, Seoul, South Korea; Hallym Univ, Hangang Sacred Heart Hosp, Dept Burn Surg, Seoul, South Korea; Seoul Natl Univ Hosp, Biomed Res Inst, Seoul, South Korea; Seoul Natl Univ, Seoul Natl Univ Hosp, Coll Med, Dept Psychiat, 101 Daehak Ro, Seoul 03080, South Korea; Asan Med Ctr, Dept Surg, 88 Olympicro 43 Gil, Seoul 05505, South Korea | 57217126239; 56175557200; 59314219300; 57189505933; 57097482000 | hypark@snu.ac.kr;yrchang@amc.seoul.kr; | YONSEI MEDICAL JOURNAL | YONSEI MED J | 0513-5796 | 1976-2437 | 65 | 12 | SCIE | MEDICINE, GENERAL & INTERNAL | 2024 | 2.8 | 19.7 | 0 | 2025-05-07 | 0 | 0 | Injuries; survivors; qualitative research; patient-centered care | TRAUMA PATIENTS; PAIN MANAGEMENT; CENTERED CARE; MAJOR TRAUMA; REHABILITATION; SATISFACTION; DEPRESSION | Injuries; patient-centered care; qualitative research; survivors | Adaptation, Psychological; Adult; Aged; Female; Humans; Male; Middle Aged; Qualitative Research; Quality of Life; Surveys and Questionnaires; Survivors; Wounds and Injuries; Young Adult; accidental injury; adult; aged; Article; clinical article; economic aspect; face-to-face interview; family support; female; Generalized Anxiety Disorder-7; head injury; health care quality; health care system; human; injury; injury scale; injury severity; intensive care unit; legal aspect; length of stay; male; medical staff; middle aged; mini international neuropsychiatric interview; multidimensional scaling; Patient Health Questionnaire 9; person centered care; personal experience; posttraumatic stress disorder checklist; psychological adjustment; qualitative research; quality of life; questionnaire; rehabilitation care; self report; sociodemographics; structured interview; survival; survivor; very elderly; young adult; psychology; qualitative research | English | 2024 | 2024-12 | 10.3349/ymj.2023.0459 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | ||
| ○ | ○ | Article | Tailoring Pectin-PLA Bilayer Film for Optimal Properties as a Food Pouch Material | This study focuses on developing a biodegradable film using a novel hybrid citrus peel pectin. A bilayer approach with PLA was proposed and optimized using Response Surface Methodology (RSM) to complement pectin films' mechanical and barrier property limitations. The optimized film composition (2.90 g PLA and 1.96 g pectin) showed enhanced mechanical strength with a tensile strength (TS) of 7.04 MPa and an elongation at break (EAB) of 462.63%. In addition, it demonstrated lower water vapor (1.45 x 10-10 g/msPa), oxygen (2.79 x 10-7 g/ms) permeability, and solubility (23.53%). Compared to single-layer pectin films, the optimized bilayer film had a 25% increased thickness, significantly improved water barrier (3806 times lower) and oxygen barrier (3.68 times lower) properties, and 22.38 times higher stretchability, attributed to hydrogen bond formation, as confirmed by FTIR analysis. The bilayer film, effectively protected against UV and visible light, could be a barrier against light-induced lipid oxidation. Moreover, it demonstrated superior seal efficiency, ensuring secure sealing in practical applications. The bilayer pouch containing mustard dressing exhibited stable sealing with no leakage after immersion in hot water and ethanol, making it suitable for secure food pouch packaging. | Said, Nurul Saadah; Olawuyi, Ibukunoluwa Fola; Lee, Won Young | Kyungpook Natl Univ, Sch Food Sci & Technol, Daegu 41566, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Res Inst Tailored Food Technol, Daegu 41566, South Korea | ; Lee, Wonyoung/AAL-2780-2021; Olawuyi, Ibukunoluwa/H-1232-2018; Said, Nurul Saadah/LFV-3208-2024 | 57211398275; 57204471854; 57195940408 | nurulsaadah.said@gmail.com;ifolawuyi@knu.ac.kr;wonyoung@knu.ac.kr; | POLYMERS | POLYMERS-BASEL | 2073-4360 | 16 | 5 | SCIE | POLYMER SCIENCE | 2024 | 4.9 | 19.7 | 2.24 | 2025-05-07 | 6 | 7 | pectin; PLA; bilayer film; biodegradable packaging; film optimization; food pouch | YOUNG APPLE POLYPHENOLS; COMPOSITE FILMS; POLY(LACTIC ACID); PROTEIN; PRESERVATIVES; COATINGS; STARCH | bilayer film; biodegradable packaging; film optimization; food pouch; pectin; PLA | Hydrogen bonds; Tensile strength; Bi-layer; Bi-layer films; Biodegradable packaging; Film optimization; Food pouch; Optimal properties; Optimisations; Pectin; Pectin films; PLA; Oxygen | English | 2024 | 2024-03 | 10.3390/polym16050712 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | ||
| ○ | ○ | Article | Trend in the Incidence of Severe Partial Edentulism among Adults Using the Korean National Health Insurance Service Claim Data, 2014-2018 | Purpose: Missing teeth is one of the most important indicators of oral health behavior and the result of dental caries, periodontal disease, and injuries. This study examined a trend in the incidence of severe partial edentulism (SPE) using the Korean National Health Insurance Service (KNHIS) data. Materials and Methods: Data of adults aged >= 20 years were obtained from the KNHIS for the 2014-2018 period. SPE was defined in dental information within a population with a treatment history of dental scaling as having 1 to 8 natural teeth. Crude incidence rates (CIRs) and age -standardized incidence rates (AIRs) with 95% confidence interval were calculated per 100000 persons. The Cochran Armitage trend (CAT) test and average annual percentage change were used to analyze SPE trends. Results: The CIRs among Korean adults were from 346.29 to 391.11 in 2014-2016 and from 391.11 to 354.09 in 2016-2018. The AIRs trend statistically increased by 4.31% from 346.29 to 376.80 and decreased by 4.72% from 376.80 to 342.10. The AIRs in men increased by 4.00% and decreased by 3.01%. The AIRs in women decreased by 2.18% and increased by 2.11% (CAT; p<0.01). The AIRs by region and income also showed trends of increase and decrease. Conclusion: The study showed that the incidence trend of SPE increased and decreased from 2014 to 2018. This result would be able to aid in the planning of public oral health, and may also serve as fundamental data for verifying the impact of the public oral health policies implemented. | Go, Hyeonjeong; Jung, Hoi-In; Ahn, Song Vogue; Ahn, Jeonghoon; Shin, Hosung; Amano, Atsuo; Choi, Youn-Hee | Kyungpook Natl Univ, Sch Dent, Dept Prevent Dent, Daegu, South Korea; Yonsei Univ, Coll Dent, Dept Prevent Dent & Publ Oral Hlth, Seoul, South Korea; Ewha Womans Univ, Dept Hlth Convergence, Seoul, South Korea; Wonkwang Univ, Dept Social & Humanity Dent, Sch Dent, Iksan, South Korea; Osaka Univ, Grad Sch Dent, Dept Prevent Dent, Osaka, Japan; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Inst Translat Res Dent, Daegu, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Dept Prevent Dent, Sch Dent, 2177 Dalgubeol Daero, Daegu 41940, South Korea | ; Ahn, Jeonghoon/CAA-1956-2022; Ahn, Song/AAK-2900-2021 | 57196085646; 56580886100; 47360986600; 8855402200; 7404012269; 7101649822; 7404777239 | cyh1001@knu.ac.kr; | YONSEI MEDICAL JOURNAL | YONSEI MED J | 0513-5796 | 1976-2437 | 65 | 4 | SCIE | MEDICINE, GENERAL & INTERNAL | 2024 | 2.8 | 19.7 | 0 | 2025-05-07 | 0 | 0 | Severe partial edentulism; incidence; Korean National Health Service Insurance; cohort database | TOOTH LOSS; ORAL-HEALTH | cohort database; incidence; Korean National Health Service Insurance; Severe partial edentulism | Adult; Dental Caries; Female; Humans; Incidence; Male; National Health Programs; Republic of Korea; Tooth Loss; adult; aged; Article; cohort analysis; data base; dental scaling; edentulism; female; health behavior; health care cost; health care policy; health insurance; human; ICD-10; incidence; major clinical study; male; middle aged; national health insurance; national health service; retrospective study; trend study; young adult; dental caries; epidemiology; incidence; periodontal disease; public health; South Korea | English | 2024 | 2024-04 | 10.3349/ymj.2023.0380 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | |
| ○ | ○ | Article | Validation of the 35-mm rule in traumatic pneumothorax in an Asian population | Objectives: Thoracic injury crucially threatens human health. Recent studies have suggested using computed tomography (CT) to observe traumatic pneumothorax (PTX). However, cross-ethnic validation is required to overcome potential barriers for the global application of this method. This study aimed to validate the 35-mm rule in traumatic PTX in a Korean population. Methods: Data from the institutional registry were analyzed, and chest CT images were reviewed. Factors for observation failure were evaluated via logistic regression analysis, and a receiver-operating curve was created to calculate the optimal cutoff value. Results: In total, 286 participants were included in this study. The average PTX size was 8.2 (3.2-26.5) mm, and 210 of 213 (95.3%) initially observed patients with a PTX size of 35 mm is associated with observation failure and suggested a cutoff of 24.5 mm. Conclusion: Most patients with traumatic PTX of 35 mm was an independent risk factor for observation failure. Considering the lower optimal cutoff value and high failure rates observed in this study, the current guidelines need modifications. | Nho, Woo Young | Kyungpook Natl Univ, Sch Med, Dept Emergency Med, Daegu, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ Hosp, Reg Trauma Ctr, Daegu, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Sch Med, Dept Emergency Med, Daegu 41944, South Korea | Nho, Woo Young/JLN-0752-2023 | 57215831839 | Wooyoung.nho@gmail.com; | POSTGRADUATE MEDICINE | POSTGRAD MED | 0032-5481 | 1941-9260 | 136 | 1 | SCIE | MEDICINE, GENERAL & INTERNAL | 2024 | 2.8 | 19.7 | 0 | 2025-04-16 | 0 | 0 | Thoracic injury; chest trauma; traumatic pneumothorax; trauma center; South Korea | DECISION-MAKING; MANAGEMENT | chest trauma; South Korea; Thoracic injury; trauma center; traumatic pneumothorax | Humans; Pneumothorax; Retrospective Studies; Thoracic Injuries; Thoracostomy; Tomography, X-Ray Computed; adult; aged; Article; artificial ventilation; clinical assessment tool; computer assisted tomography; controlled study; diagnostic test accuracy study; female; general anesthesia; human; ICD-10; intensive care unit; korean triage and acuity scale; length of stay; logistic regression analysis; major clinical study; male; mortality; pneumothorax; receiver operating characteristic; risk factor; thorax injury; thorax radiography; traumatic pneumothorax; validation process; complication; diagnostic imaging; pneumothorax; procedures; retrospective study; thoracostomy; thorax injury; x-ray computed tomography | English | 2024 | 2024-01-02 | 10.1080/00325481.2024.2313449 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | |
