| ○ | ○ | Article | Probing of nuclear radiation attenuation and mechanical features for lithium bismuth borate glasses with improving Bi2O3 content for B2O3 | Against photon energies extending from 0.015 to 15 MeV, MCNPX, FLUKA and PHITS codes are operated to simulate mass attenuation coefficients (mu/rho) for a total of ten B2O3-Bi2O3-Li2O glass compositions with added Bi2O3 amount from 10 to 55 mol% (5 mol% growth gradually) as a substitute for total (B2O3 + Li2O) mol% content. All the computed mu/rho values correctness is examined by Py-MLBUF and WinXCOM programs' mu/rho outcomes and we found a good agreement among them. 55Bi(2)O(3)-35B(2)O(3)-10Li(2)O (mol%) glass half-value layer (HVL) and mean free path (MFP) quantities are compared with distinct commercial gamma-ray attenuating glasses, alloys, polymers, concretes and lead and ceramics corresponding values. Next, equivalent atomic numbers (Z(eq)) and by employing geometric progression (G-P) fitting method at 1-40 mfp PDs (penetration depths), at 0.015-15 MeV energy range 'buildup factors' were calculated. At all chosen twenty-five energies derived radiation protection efficiency (RPE) results assured investigated samples exemplary competence for low energy photons absorption. Applying SRIM codes Psi(P) and Phi(P) and Psi(A) and Phi(A) (mass stopping powers (MSPs) and projected ranges (PRs) for protons and alpha-particles), and making use of ESTAR database Psi(E) (electron MSP) and continuous slowing-down approximation (CSDA) range for electrons are determined at KE (kinetic energy) range of 0.015-15 MeV. Moreover, fast neutron removal cross-sections (Sigma(R)), for 0.0253 eV energy neutrons absorption cross-sections have been estimated. Deduced Sigma(R) was altered at 0.1105-0.1205 cm(-1) range with Bi2O3 inclusion in studied samples. 10Bi(2)O(3)-70B(2)O(3)-20Li(2)O (mol%) glass has greater total cross-section (=23.251 cm(-1)) for thermal neutrons absorption while 55Bi(2)O(3)-35B(2)O(3)-10Li(2)O (mol%) sample exhibits quality shielding factors for photons and fast neutrons confirming the included Bi2O3 positive impact. Along with nuclear attenuation features various physical and mechanical aspects are also inspected. Derived V-m (molar volume), OPD (oxygen packing density), V-o (oxygen molar volume), V-t (packing density) and G(t) (dissociation energy per unit volume) values indicated glasses rigidity. Following Makishima-Mackenzie's theoretical model primary mechanical features like Y, K, S and L (Young's, bulk, shear and longitudinal modulus) and sigma (Poisson's ratio) are evaluated where 10Bi(2)O(3)-70B(2)O(3)-20Li(2)O (mol%) glass shows better elastic moduli in all samples. | Lakshminarayana, G.; Kumar, Ashok; Tekin, H. | ○ | ○ | Article | Staged Management of Severely Displaced Calcaneal Fractures With Transarticular Pinning: A Damage Control Strategy | Background: Severely displaced calcaneal fractures can result in considerable morphology derangement and may be accompanied by soft tissue compromise. Delayed operative restoration of the calcaneal morphology may result in acute retensioning of the damaged soft tissue with associated wound-related complications. In this study, we describe a staged treatment of displaced intra-articular calcaneal fractures that uses temporary transarticular Kirschner wire (K-wire) fixation and staged conversion to definite fixation. Methods: We identified all of the patients who were treated at our institution for calcaneal fractures between 2015 and 2019. A total of 17 patients with 20 calcaneal fractures were selectively treated with 2-stage management. Temporary transarticular K-wire fixation was performed 24 hours after the injury to restore calcaneal morphology and the surrounding soft tissue. After the soft tissue was considered safe, delayed open reduction and internal fixation was performed. The time to definite surgery, radiographic alignment, wound complications, time to radiographic union, and hindfoot American Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Society (AOFAS) scores were recorded. Results: The average follow-up period was 17 months (range, 12-43). The average Bohler angle increased from a mean of -22 degrees (range, -109 to 25) to 25 degrees (range, 0 to 47) after temporary transarticular K-wire fixation. The mean time from temporary pinning to conversion to definite internal fixation was 20 (range, 10-32) days. There were no immediate postoperative complications. The average time to radiographic union was 13.7 (range, 10-16) weeks. The mean AOFAS score was 87 (range, 55-100). No infections or wound complications were reported during the follow-up period. Conclusion: Temporary transarticular pinning for staged calcaneal fracture treatment is safe and effective in restoring the calcaneal morphology. This novel and relatively simple method may facilitate delayed operation and decrease wound-related complications. | Park, Kyeong-Hyeon; Oh, Chang-Wug; Kim, Joon-Woo; Kim, Hee-June; Kim, Dong-Hyun; Kim, Tae-Seong | Kyungpook Natl Univ, Kyungpook Natl Univ Hosp, Sch Med, Dept Orthopaed Surg, 130 Dongdeok Ro, Daegu 41944, South Korea | ; Oh, Chang-Wug/AAO-4602-2021; Park, KyeongHyeon/KEH-4919-2024; Kim, Dong Hyun/LDT-2672-2024 | 56969984400; 22135834200; 22951329000; 36463735200; 57198637188; 57202157782 | cwoh@knu.ac.kr; | FOOT & ANKLE INTERNATIONAL | FOOT ANKLE INT | 1071-1007 | 1944-7876 | 42 | 11 | SCIE | ORTHOPEDICS | 2021 | 3.569 | 26.2 | 0.89 | 2025-07-30 | 5 | 6 | calcaneus; transarticular fixation; staged treatment; damage control | EXTERNAL FIXATION; COMPLICATIONS; REDUCTION | calcaneus; damage control; staged treatment; transarticular fixation | adult; American Orthopedic Foot and Ankle Society ankle hindfoot score; angle of repose; arthrodesis; arthroscopy; Article; Bohler angle; bone density; bone graft; bone radiography; calcaneus; calcaneus fracture; clinical article; clinical outcome; computer assisted tomography; control strategy; debridement; female; fluoroscopy; follow up; fracture fixation; fracture nonunion; fracture treatment; Harris hip score; human; human tissue; intramedullary nailing; limb salvage; male; open reduction (procedure); osteosynthesis; osteotomy; plate fixation; postoperative complication; retrospective study; skin graft; soft tissue; transarticular pinning; wound complication; wound healing; wound infection | English | 2021 | 2021-11 | 10.1177/10711007211013012 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | |
| ○ | ○ | Article | Survey of optical and fluorescence traits of Tm³⁺-doped alkali/mixed alkali oxides constituting B2O3-BaO-ZnO-LiF glasses for 0.45 μm laser and 1.46 μm fiber amplifier | For six 1 mol% Tm3+-doped B2O3-BaO-ZnO-LiF glasses containing single and mixed alkali oxides (fabricated by melt-cast approach), optical absorption, and visible and near-infrared (NIR) fluorescence features including visible luminescence decay times were explored. Optical band gaps, Urbach energy, and two-photon absorption coefficients were evaluated for all studied glasses. Judd-Ofelt (J-O) analysis from absorption spectra was performed to compute Tm3+: 4f-4f transitions J-O parameters Omega(lambda) (lambda = 2, 4, 6), and utilizing Omega(2), Omega(4) and Omega(6) values radiative transition probabilities (A(R)), branching ratios (beta(R)), and radiative lifetimes (tau(R)) for all Tm3+ ion's excited levels were assessed. For obtained intense blue emission band (454 nm) upon 358 nm excitation, various parameters considered in developing visible laser systems were calculated. Tm3+: Na ions having sample exhibits high AR, highest peak emission cross-section (sigma(em)(max)) (=5.89 x 10(-21) cm(2)) and gain bandwidth(sigma(em)(max) x Delta lambda(eff)) (=9.69 x 10(-27) cm(3)) for D-1(2)-> F-3(4) luminescence transition in all glasses for a favorable blue lasing process. All emission decay curves of the D-1(2) upper level showed nonexponential nature. Commission Internationale de l'eclairage (CIE) coordinates, color purity, and luminous efficiency of radiation were derived from visible fluorescence spectra, and attained CIE (x,y) coordinates values reflect the purplish-blue light region. Under direct optical pumping of H-3(6)-> H-3(4) transition using 808 nm laser diode, NIR fluorescence spectra exhibit a wideband within 1.3-1.6 mu m spectral range peaked at 1.46 mu m (H-3(4)-> F-3(4) transition). NIR emissions effective bandwidth (Delta lambda(eff)) was varied relying on different alkali oxides Delta lambda(eff) similar to 121 nm was deduced for Tm3+: Li ions comprising glass with large sigma(em)(max) (=1.832 x 10(-21) cm(2)), high(sigma(em)(max) x Delta lambda(eff)) (=2.22 x 10(-26) cm(3)), and optical gain (=12.608 x 10(-25) cm(2)s) for H-3(4)-> F-3(4) emission transition and its gain profile wraps the entire S-optical communication band range for efficient broadband amplification purpose in wavelength-division multiplexing systems. | Lakshminarayana, G.; Meza-Rocha, A. | ○ | ○ | Article | Trimethylsulfonium lead triiodide (TMSPbI3) for moisture-stable perovskite solar cells | Conventional, high-efficiency, hybrid organic-inorganic perovskites (e.g., methylammonium lead iodide (MAPbI(3)) and formamidinium lead iodide (FAPbI(3))) having ammonium-based organic cations exhibit poor moisture stability mainly due to the effective hydrogen bonding interaction of nitrogen in the ammonium-based cations with water molecules. Recently, a sulfonium-based cation, trimethylsulfonium (TMS+), has attracted growing attention for the development of moisture-stable hybrid perovskite solar cells (PSCs). This research investigated the photovoltaic performance of trimethylsulfonium lead triiodide (TMSPbI3) based PSCs and their moisture stability both experimentally and theoretically. The results revealed that TMSPbI3 exhibited a relatively large optical band gap (E-g = 2.32 eV) and high absorption coefficient (alpha = 2.30 x 10(4) cm(-1) at 500 nm) with a hexagonal one-dimensional crystal structure. The PSCs with a device structure of FTO/c-TiO2/m-TiO2/TMSPbI3/CuSCN/Au exhibited a power conversion efficiency (PCE) of 2.22% with no hysteresis in the I-V curve, and high moisture stability at ambient temperature (25 +/- 3 degrees C, ca. 50% relative humidity) with a PCE loss of only ca. 4.6% after 500 h. This result could be attributed to the absence of the hydrogen bonding interaction of TMS+ with water molecules, leading to the effective stabilization of TMSPbI3 compared to MAPbI(3) and FAPbI(3), verified by density functional theory calculations. | Rahman, Md. | ○ | ○ | Article | A heuristic solution and multi-objective optimization model for life-cycle cost analysis of solar PV/GSHP system: A case study of campus residential building in Korea | Because of the unavailability of standard renewable power generation capacity and the ambiguous sales methods for each building type, there has been indiscriminate installation of renewable energy sources to increase the mandatory installation rate of renewable energy. Importantly, campus buildings are high energy-consuming buildings that have considerable energy-saving potential. Herein, we present a model that maximizes the total life cycle cost (LCC) of a building using energy simulation programs (EnergyPlus & DesignBuilder) by considering various costs and efficiencies depending on the capacity and efficiency of the photovoltaic (PV) and ground-source heat pumps (GSHP) systems and optimization analysis using heuristic solution and multi-objective genetic algorithm. Based on economic factors, a Korean campus residential building was used as a case study, and the expense of the optimization models of seven applicable scenarios were analyzed. Each scenario is a method for selling renewable energy power, and it is possible to determine the building type and the effect of the sales method by analyzing the results of these scenarios. This method could be used to develop installation guidelines for integration of renewable energy systems into newly built buildings and provide the basis for decision-making by studying retrofitting of existing buildings to enhance energy efficiency. | Sim, Minjeong; Suh, Dongjun | Kyungpook Natl Univ, Dept Convergence & Fus Syst Engn, Sangju 37224, South Korea | 57226480124; 36613529600 | smj658@knu.ac.kr;dongjunsuh@knu.ac.kr; | SUSTAINABLE ENERGY TECHNOLOGIES AND ASSESSMENTS | SUSTAIN ENERGY TECHN | 2213-1388 | 2213-1396 | 47 | SCIE | ENERGY & FUELS;GREEN & SUSTAINABLE SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY | 2021 | 7.632 | 26.5 | 1.73 | 2025-07-30 | 29 | 36 | Optimization; PV; GSHP; LCC; Multi-objective genetic algorithm | ENERGY-CONSUMPTION; DESIGN | GSHP; LCC; Multi-objective genetic algorithm; Optimization; PV | Korea; Cost benefit analysis; Costs; Decision making; Energy efficiency; Heuristic methods; Housing; Life cycle; Multiobjective optimization; Renewable energy resources; Sales; Building types; Case-studies; Energy; Ground-source heat pump; Heat-pump systems; Heuristic solutions; Multiobjective genetic algorithms; Optimisations; Photovoltaics; Residential building; alternative energy; cost analysis; energy efficiency; genetic algorithm; heuristics; life cycle analysis; optimization; photovoltaic system; power generation; residential location; Genetic algorithms | English | 2021 | 2021-10 | 10.1016/j.seta.2021.101490 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | |||
| ○ | ○ | Article | Hierarchical zero-valent iron fabricated from microfluidic reactor for the removal of organic dyes from aqueous media | Microfluidic devices have been extensively applied for many applications including, but not limited to biochemical sensors, micro fuel cell, micro controllable lens, micro cell sorting and chapping devices and microreactors. In this study, microfluidic devices were designed, fabricated and used as a microreactor for synthesis of zero-valent iron nanosheets (ZVIns) by reducing Fe(II) ions in ethanol solution with a reducing agent. The Computational Fluid Dynamics simulation using Ansys Fluent Software was employed to study the mixing process for optimization of ZVIns synthesis conditions via microfluidic device. The prepared ZVIns was characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS) mapping, X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and magnetic measurements. The ZVIns showed a top layer of the structural flower-like ZVIns clusters with average diameter of 1 mu m and a beneath layer of uniform petal-like nanosheets with the thickness of < 50 nm. The removal performance of the resultant ZVIns toward methylene blue (MB) and methyl orange (MO) dyes in the aqueous solution and the influencing factors were investigated. Finally, the possible simultaneous absorption and reduction mechanism of the ZVIns for MB and MO removals were also discussed. | Trung-Dung Dang; Le Nguyen-Thi; Truong Nguyen-Xuan; Le, Hang T. | ○ | ○ | Article | Numerical analysis of porous flat plate solar collector under thermal radiation and hybrid nanoparticles using two-phase model | Solar collectors will play a very important role in absorbing solar renewable energy for use in various industries in the future of the world. This study looks at the resulting combination of using porous medium and hybrid nanofluids, in the presence of thermal radiation, on the thermo-hydrodynamic features, heat transfer, supply temperature, and hybrid nanoparticles' distribution within a horizontal flat plate solar collector. The two-phase approach is considered for modelling. The migration of Ag-Al2O3 hybrid nanoparticles due to the Brownian motion and thermophoresis effects was also taken into account. The set of governing equation was numerically solved employing the finite element method. The investigation is performed by reporting the roles of hybrid nanofluid concentration, porosity coefficient, Darcy number, Reynolds number, porous media to hybrid nano fluid thermal conductivity ratio, Brownian motion parameter, thermophoretic parameter, radiation parameter, and Schmidt number. The results indicate that The high values of porosity coefficient, radiation parameter, conductivity ratio, and thermophoretic parameter ameliorate thermophoresis effects, and therefore, a high concentration of nanoparticles was observed near the bottom part of the collector, especially at low Reynolds. Also, Employing hybrid nanofluid lead to a decrease in the heat transfer rate and slightly raised the supply temperature at low Re. | Xiong, Qingang; Tayebi, Tahar; Izadi, Mohsen; Siddiqui, Abuzar Abid; Ambreen, Tehmina; Li, Larry K. | ○ | Article | Tuning Composition of Multicomponent Surface Nanodroplets in a Continuous Flow-In System | Droplets are excellent platforms for compartmentalization of many processes such as chemical reactions, liquid–liquid extraction, and biological or chemical analyses. Accurately controlling and optimizing the composition of these droplets is of high importance to maximize their functionality. In this work, the formation of multicomponent droplets with controllable composition by employing a continuous flow-in setup is demonstrated. Multiple streams of different oil solutions are introduced and mixed in a passive flow mixer and the outcoming mixture is subsequently fed into a flow chamber to form surface nanodroplets by solvent exchange. This method is time-effective, enabling programmable continuous processes for droplet formation and surface cleaning. The surface nanodroplets are formed within 2.5 min in one cycle, and the droplet formation is reliable with similar size distribution over multiple cycles. The composition of the resulting surface nanodroplet can be tuned at will simply by controlling the flow rate ratios of each stream of the oil solution. Using fluorescence imaging, it is shown that the composition of the binary surface nanodroplets agrees well with theoretical values predicted using the phase diagram. © 2021 The Authors. | ○ | ○ | Article | Urbach-Energy-Dictated Spatial Propagation of Electrons in Thermodynamically Tuned Amorphous Zirconia Thin Films | Thermodynamically tuned zirconia thin films are fabricated for diverse Urbach energies in a homogeneous condensed system. In the analysis, the electrical breakdown of zirconia thin films is ascribed to the tunneling-driven electron propagation involving virtual photons. An externally applied electric field is considered to expand the Urbach-energy-characterized energy distribution of sub-bandgap states into their spatial distribution. In this expansion, the virtual-photon energies activate the tunneling-driven electron propagation through localized observer states. The integral of the virtual-photon energies over the entire tunneling path is equal to the initial energy barrier. | Kwon, Jin-Hyuk; Lee, Hyeonju; Kim, Bokyung; Zhang, Xue; Jang, Jaewon; Bae, Jin-Hyuk; Park, Jaehoon | Kyungpook Natl Univ, Sch Elect & Elect Engn, Daegu 41566, South Korea; Hallym Univ, Dept Elect Engn, Chunchon 24252, South Korea; Shandong Univ Sci & Technol, Coll Ocean Sci & Engn, Qingdao 266590, Peoples R China; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Sch Elect Engn, Daegu 41566, South Korea | 7202469243; 57040032800; 57210471966; 55949859900; 57194107504; 35326180700; 55717156300 | jhbae@ee.knu.ac.kr;jaypark@hallym.ac.kr; | ADVANCED MATERIALS INTERFACES | ADV MATER INTERFACES | 2196-7350 | 8 | 20 | SCIE | CHEMISTRY, MULTIDISCIPLINARY;MATERIALS SCIENCE, MULTIDISCIPLINARY | 2021 | 6.389 | 26.5 | 0.15 | 2025-07-30 | 2 | 2 | electron propagation; tunneling of electrons; Urbach energy; virtual photons; zirconia thin films | FIELD-EFFECT TRANSISTORS; STABILITY; BILAYER | electron propagation; tunneling of electrons; Urbach energy; virtual photons; zirconia thin films | Electric fields; Electrons; Photons; Zirconia; Amorphous zirconia; Amorphous zirconium; Electrons propagation; Spatial propagation; Thin-films; Tunneling of electron; Urbach energy; Virtual photon energy; Virtual photons; Zirconium thin film; Thin films | English | 2021 | 2021-10 | 10.1002/admi.202101104 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | |||
| ○ | ○ | Article | Clinical outcomes of otogenic skull base osteomyelitis | Purpose Skull base osteomyelitis (SBO) is an uncommon and a potentially life-threatening condition if not promptly recognized and properly treated. The aim of our study was to present a 32-case series of patients diagnosed with SBO at a single center. Methods In this retrospective study, we reviewed the data of patients diagnosed with otogenic SBO between January 2011 and January 2020. 32 patients were enrolled in the study. SBO diagnosis was based on a combination of symptoms and physical examination, bone scan, brain magnetic resonance imaging, and pathologic examination findings. The following clinical data were collected during the follow-up period: types of antibiotics used, duration of antibiotic treatment, C-reactive protein level, presence of disease control, duration from the onset of symptoms to diagnosis, and patient survival. Results The mean follow-up period was 11 (1-110) months. The mean duration of antibiotic treatment was 115 (19-223) days. The mean C-reactive protein levels at the time of diagnosis and at the endpoint of follow-up were 3.05 (0.56-18.31) and 0.21 (0.03-33.61) mg/dL, respectively (P < 0.001). Disease control rate was 34.9% at 1-year and 83.7% at 5-year follow-up. Patient survival rate was 90.6% at 1- and 3-year follow-ups. At the endpoint of follow-up, three patients died. The mean durations from the onset of symptoms to diagnosis were 50 (5-360) and 90 (30-480) days in patients with the controlled disease and in those with the uncontrolled disease, respectively, at the endpoint of follow-up (P = 0.043). Conclusion Comprehensive assessment and aggressive treatment of patients exhibiting symptoms suggestive of SBO would help in the rapid diagnosis of otogenic SBO, resulting in an improvement in prognosis. | Jung, Da Jung; Hong, Jisong; Cho, Hyung Joon; Yoo, Myung Hoon; Lee, Kyu-Yup | Kyungpook Natl Univ, Sch Med, Dept Otorhinolaryngol Head & Neck Surg, 200 Dongdeok Ro, Daegu 700721, South Korea | Lee, Doh Young/GLR-9586-2022 | 57220970862; 57219112643; 57219109483; 22956750000; 22135779500 | kylee@knu.ac.kr; | EUROPEAN ARCHIVES OF OTO-RHINO-LARYNGOLOGY | EUR ARCH OTO-RHINO-L | 0937-4477 | 1434-4726 | 278 | 8 | SCIE | OTORHINOLARYNGOLOGY | 2021 | 3.236 | 26.7 | 1.19 | 2025-07-30 | 7 | 7 | Skull base osteomyelitis; Clinical outcome; Antibiotics; Patient survival | DISEASE | Antibiotics; Clinical outcome; Patient survival; Skull base osteomyelitis | Anti-Bacterial Agents; Humans; Magnetic Resonance Imaging; Osteomyelitis; Retrospective Studies; Skull Base; C reactive protein; ceftazidime; cephalosporin; imipenem; levofloxacin; piperacillin plus tazobactam; procalcitonin; vancomycin; antiinfective agent; adult; aged; antibiotic therapy; antimicrobial therapy; Article; bone biopsy; bone erosion; bone scintiscanning; chronic kidney failure; clinical article; clinical outcome; coil embolization; computer assisted tomography; cranial nerve paralysis; diabetes mellitus; disease control; endoscopic sinus surgery; erythrocyte sedimentation rate; external auditory canal; facial nerve paralysis; facial nerve surgery; false aneurysm; female; follow up; gastrointestinal hemorrhage; granulation tissue; hospital acquired pneumonia; hospitalization; human; hypertension; leukocyte count; male; mastoidectomy; methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus; methicillin susceptible Staphylococcus aureus; middle aged; nuclear magnetic resonance imaging; osteomyelitis; otalgia; otorrhea; physical examination; prognosis; Pseudomonas; retrospective study; sepsis; skull base; survival rate; treatment duration; very elderly; diagnostic imaging; osteomyelitis | English | 2021 | 2021-08 | 10.1007/s00405-020-06366-0 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | |
| ○ | ○ | Article | Enhanced efficacy of folate-incorporated cholesteryl doxorubicin liposome in folate receptor abundant cancer cell | Doxorubicin (Dox) is an anthracycline antitumor agent with the disadvantages of cumulative cardiotoxicity, short retention time, and rapid excretion. A liposomal formulation of cholesteryl Dox (LLD), developed to overcome the side effects of Dox, is characterized by a particle size and zeta potential (ZP) of 93.9 ? 1.4 nm and-12.7 ? 0.7 mV, respectively, as well as stability under extracellular pH conditions. In this study, a folate-incorporated liposomal formulation of cholesteryl Dox (FLLD) was prepared to target the folic acid receptor (FR). FLLD showed considerable enhancement of cytotoxicity in KB cells (FR positive) by increasing cell asso-ciation. Intravenous FLLD suppressed KB tumors to a greater extent than Dox without adverse side effects on other organs, such as the heart and kidney. Moreover, the biodistribution experiment showed that folate incorporation improved the targeting effect compared with LLD. FLLD is a promising anticancer drug that could be used to target cancer cells expressing high FR. | Choi, Jong-Soo; Park, Jae-Won; Seu, Young-Bae; Doh, Kyung-Oh | Yeungnam Univ, Coll Med, Dept Physiol, Daegu 42415, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Sch Life Sci & Biotechnol, Daegu 41566, South Korea | 55722465300; 57225161977; 6602236684; 8964707800 | ybseu@knu.ac.kr;kodoh@ynu.ac.kr; | JOURNAL OF DRUG DELIVERY SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY | J DRUG DELIV SCI TEC | 1773-2247 | 2588-8943 | 62 | SCIE | PHARMACOLOGY & PHARMACY | 2021 | 5.062 | 26.7 | 0.64 | 2025-07-30 | 7 | 9 | Doxorubicin; Liposome; Drug delivery; Cholesterol | SENSITIVE POLYMERIC MICELLES; IN-VITRO; ANTICANCER ACTIVITY; LOADED LIPOSOMES; LUNG-CANCER; PH; DELIVERY; NANOPARTICLES; DEGRADATION; DERIVATIVES | Cholesterol; Doxorubicin; Drug delivery; Liposome | cholesterol ester; doxorubicin; flamma 771; folate receptor; folic acid; liposome; macrogol 2000; animal experiment; animal model; animal tissue; Article; cancer cell; cancer inhibition; cell viability; cellular distribution; confocal microscopy; controlled study; data analysis software; data system; drug accumulation; drug bioavailability; drug cytotoxicity; drug formulation; drug release; drug safety; drug tissue level; female; heart; high performance liquid chromatography; histology; human; human cell; IC50; in vitro study; KB cell line; kidney; liposomal delivery; mouse; nonhuman; particle size; PEGylation; physical chemistry; single drug dose; synthesis; transmission electron microscopy; zeta potential | English | 2021 | 2021-04 | 10.1016/j.jddst.2021.102385 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | |||
| ○ | ○ | Article | Potential Sex-Specific Effects of Apolipoprotein E ε4 on Cognitive Decline in Early Parkinson's Disease | Background/Objective: To compare the longitudinal trajectories of cognition according to the presence of the apolipoprotein E (APOE) epsilon 4 allele in male and female Parkinson's disease (PD) patients. Methods: This study included a total of 361 patients with recently diagnosed de novo PD (mean age [standard deviation], 61.4 [9.8] years). The patients were classified into the following groups: APOE epsilon 4 + /M (n = 65), APOE epsilon 4-/M (n = 173), APOE epsilon 4 + /F (n = 25), and APOE epsilon 4-/F (n = 98). Cognitive decline was assessed annually over 5 years of follow-up using the Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA). To assess the sex-specific impacts of the APOE epsilon 4 status on cognitive decline, we used generalized linear mixed effects (GLME) models separately for men, women, and the two sexes combined. Results: In the sex-stratified GLME models adjusted for covariates, the interaction results showed that the males with APOE epsilon 4 had a steeper rate of cognitive decline than those without APOE epsilon 4. In contrast, there was no significant interaction between APOE epsilon 4 and time on longitudinal MoCA performance in the females. The main effect of APOE epsilon 4 on the change in the MoCA score was not significant for either men or women. When the data from both men and women were used, the APOE epsilon 4 + /M group exhibited a steeper rate of cognitive decline than did the APOE epsilon 4 + /F and APOE epsilon 4-/F groups. These results were consistent with those of sensitivity analyses. Conclusion: Sex may be considered when APOE epsilon 4-related vulnerability to early cognitive decline is evaluated in PD patients. | Kim, Ryul; Park, Sangmin; Yoo, Dallah; Suh, Young Ju; Jun, Jin-Sun; Jeon, Beomseok | Inha Univ Hosp, Dept Neurol, Incheon, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Chilgok Hosp, Sch Med, Dept Neurol, Daegu, South Korea; Kyung Hee Univ, Dept Neurol, Med Ctr, Seoul, South Korea; Inha Univ, Dept Biomed Sci, Coll Med, Incheon, South Korea; Hallym Univ, Kangnam Sacred Heart Hosp, Dept Neurol, Coll Med, Seoul, South Korea; Seoul Natl Univ Hosp, Coll Med, Dept Neurol, Seoul, South Korea | Suh, Young/AAD-5737-2021; Yoo, Dallah/ABB-6365-2021 | 56591470700; 57197524938; 57202011449; 55279797200; 56523978900; 7102161956 | junjs@hallym.or.kr; | JOURNAL OF PARKINSONS DISEASE | J PARKINSON DIS | 1877-7171 | 1877-718X | 11 | 2 | SCIE | NEUROSCIENCES | 2021 | 5.52 | 26.7 | 0.33 | 2025-07-30 | 3 | 4 | APOE; apolipoprotein; cognition; Parkinson's disease; sex | WELL-SUITED SCREEN; ALZHEIMERS-DISEASE; APOE EPSILON-4; RISK-FACTORS; IMPAIRMENT; DEMENTIA; GENDER; MOCA; AGE; REPLACEMENT | APOE; apolipoprotein; cognition; Parkinson's disease; sex | Apolipoprotein E4; Child; Cognition; Cognitive Dysfunction; Disease Progression; Female; Humans; Male; Parkinson Disease; apolipoprotein E4; apolipoprotein E4; adult; APOE gene; Article; cognition; disease classification; female; follow up; gene; gene interaction; human; major clinical study; male; mental deterioration; middle aged; Montreal cognitive assessment; Parkinson disease; priority journal; scoring system; sensitivity analysis; sex; child; cognitive defect; complication; disease exacerbation; genetics | English | 2021 | 2021 | 10.3233/jpd-202288 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | |

| ○ | Article | Algorithmic implementation of deep learning layer assignment in edge computing based smart city environment | Supporting deep learning is a challenge for Internet of Things hardware with limited computing capacity. Edge computing is a promising solution that supports such hardware as it solves transferring and processing bottlenecks. To allocate appropriate loads to utilize edge computing efficiently, we propose an edge computing solution for smart city environments that assigns some of the deep learning layers to edge nodes in order to support deep learning tasks on Internet of Things devices. The proposed deep learning layer assignment in edge computing algorithm determines the ideal number of deep learning layers to be assigned to each edge considering computing capacity and bandwidth of each edge separately. Simulation results of the proposed algorithm were compared with other existing methods such as Li's offline and online method, fixed assignment, and cloud-only method. The comparison showed that the proposed algorithm handles the most deep learning tasks while maximizing resource utilization of edges. © 2020 | Lee, Kyuchang; Silva, Bhagya Nathali; Han, Kijun | Department of Cyber Security, Yeungnam University College, South Korea; Department of Computer Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, University of Sri Jayewardenepura, Sri Lanka; School of Computer Science and Engineering, Kyungpook National University, South Korea | 57213678506; 57192304387; 7402963670 | kjhan@knu.ac.kr; | Computers and Electrical Engineering | COMPUT ELECTR ENG | 0045-7906 | 1879-0755 | 89 | SCIE | COMPUTER SCIENCE, HARDWARE & ARCHITECTURE;COMPUTER SCIENCE, INTERDISCIPLINARY APPLICATIONS;ENGINEERING, ELECTRICAL & ELECTRONIC | 2021 | 4.152 | 26.9 | 1.21 | 2025-07-30 | 17 | Deep learning; Edge computing; Layer assignment algorithm; Resource utilization; Smart city | Edge computing; Internet of things; Learning algorithms; Smart city; Computing algorithms; Computing capacity; Computing solutions; Edge nodes; Layer assignment; Learning tasks; Online methods; Resource utilizations; Deep learning | English | Final | 2021 | 10.1016/j.compeleceng.2020.106909 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 |
