| ○ | ○ | Article | Intersection cohomology of pure sheaf spaces using Kirwan's desingularization | Let M-n be the Simpson compactification of twisted ideal sheaves I-L,I-Q(1) where Q is a rank 4 quadratic hypersurface in P-n and L is a linear subspace of dimension n - 2. This paper calculates the intersection Poincare polynomial of M-n using Kirwan's desingularization method. We obtain the intersection Poincare polynomial of the moduli space for one-dimensional sheaves on del Pezzo surfaces of degree >= 8 by considering wall-crossings of stable pairs and complexes. | ○ | Article | Additive 3-dimensional printing as a novel tool for pre- and postsurgical evaluation and patient education A clinical case series | Background and Overview. In contrast to subtractive 3-dimensional (3D) techniques synonymous with computer-aided design and computer-aided manufacturing, rapid progress in additive 3D printing, especially fused filament fabrication or fused deposition modeling, can change the practice of dentistry. Case Description. In this article, the authors outline the digital workflow for fused filament fabrication and fused deposition modeling 3D printing that involves converting a Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine file (scan or radiograph) to a printable Standard Triangle Language file that can be modified (additions or manipulations) using a readily accessible software for 3D printing. The authors also present a clinical case series showing various applications for this technique, including clinician and patient education, treatment planning, and posttreatment evaluations. Conclusions and Practical Implications. The low cost and simple workflow of additive 3D printing has potential to improve precision and efficiency in clinical dentistry for both academic and private practices. | Kim, Jaewon; Lee, Du-Hyeong; Markiewicz, Michael R.; Al-Jewair, Thikriat; Andreana, Sebastiano; Arany, Praveen R. | SUNY Buffalo, Dept Periodont & Endodont, Sch Dent Med, Buffalo, NY 14214 USA; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Sch Dent, Dept Prosthodont, Daegu, South Korea; SUNY Buffalo, Hosp Affairs, Dept Oral & Maxillofacial Surg, Sch Dent Med, Buffalo, NY 14214 USA; SUNY Buffalo, Dept Neurosurg, Div Pediat Surg, Dept Surg,Jacobs Sch Med & Biomed Sci, Buffalo, NY 14214 USA; SUNY Buffalo, Dept Orthodont, Sch Dent Med, Buffalo, NY 14214 USA; SUNY Buffalo, Dept Restorat Dent, Sch Dent Med, Buffalo, NY 14214 USA; SUNY Buffalo, Dept Oral Biol, Sch Dent Med, 3435 Main St,B36A Foster Hall, Buffalo, NY 14214 USA; SUNY Buffalo, Biomed Engn, Sch Engn & Appl Sci, Buffalo, NY 14214 USA | Al-Jewair, Thikriat/K-4007-2014; Arany, Praveen/S-5329-2019 | JOURNAL OF THE AMERICAN DENTAL ASSOCIATION | J AM DENT ASSOC | 0002-8177 | 1943-4723 | 152 | 7 | SCIE | DENTISTRY, ORAL SURGERY & MEDICINE | 2021 | 3.681 | 25.5 | 3 | 3D printing; fused filament fabrication; fused deposition modeling; preoperative evaluation; postoperative evaluation | 3D; TECHNOLOGY; SURGERY; FEAR | English | 2021 | 2021-07 | 10.1016/j.adaj.2020.10.009 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | ||||||||||
| ○ | ○ | Article | Alleviation of norflurazon-induced photobleaching by overexpression of Fe-chelatase in transgenic rice | We examined the effect of Bradyrhizobium japonicum FeCh (BjFeCh) expression on the regulation of porphyrin biosynthesis and resistance to norflurazon (NF)-induced photobleaching in transgenic rice. In response to NF, transgenic lines F4 and F7 showed lesser declines in chlorophyll, carotenoid, F-v/F-m, phi(PSII), and light-harvesting chlorophyll (Lhc) a/b-binding proteins as compared to wild-type ( WT) plants, resulting in the alleviation of NF-induced photobleaching. During photobleaching, levels of heme, protoporphyrin IX (Proto IX), Mg-Proto IX (monomethylester), and protochlorophyllide decreased in WT and transgenic plants, with lesser decreases in transgenic plants. Most porphyrin biosynthetic genes were greatly downregulated in WT and transgenic plants following NF treatment, with higher transcript levels in transgenic plants. The expression of BjFeCh in transgenic rice may play a protective role in mitigating NF-induced photobleaching by maintaining levels of heme, chlorophyll intermediates, and Lhc proteins. This finding will contribute to understanding the resistance mechanism of NF-resistant crops and establishing a new strategy for weed control. | Park, Joon-Heum; Jung, Sunyo | Kyungpook Natl Univ, Sch Life Sci, BK21 FOUR KNU Creat BioRes Grp, Daegu 41566, South Korea | 57225161863; 7403677383 | sjung@knu.ac.kr; | JOURNAL OF PESTICIDE SCIENCE | J PESTIC SCI | 1348-589X | 1349-0923 | 46 | 3 | SCIE | ENTOMOLOGY | 2021 | 2.529 | 25.5 | 0.42 | 2025-07-30 | 5 | 4 | chlorophyll fluorescence; Fe-chelatase; heme; photobleaching; porphyrin | PORPHYRIN BIOSYNTHESIS; STRESS CONDITIONS; OXIDATIVE STRESS; HEME; FLUORESCENCE; PHOTOPROTECTION; ARABIDOPSIS; PLANTS; LIGHT; METABOLISM | chlorophyll fluorescence; Fe-chelatase; heme; photobleaching; porphyrin | English | 2021 | 2021-08 | 10.1584/jpestics.d21-021 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | |||
| ○ | ○ | Article | Loss of the neuronal genome organizer and transcription factorCTCFinduces neuronal death and reactive gliosis in the anterior cingulate cortex | CCCTC-binding factor (CTCF) is a genome organizer that regulates gene expression through transcription and chromatin structure regulation. CTCF also plays an important role during the developmental and adult stages. Cell-specific CTCF deletion studies have shown that a reduction in CTCF expression leads to the development of distinct clinical features and cognitive disorders. Therefore, we knocked outCtcf(CTCFcKO) in the excitatory neurons of the forebrain in aCamk2a-Cremouse strain to examine the role of CTCF in cell death and gliosis in the cortex.CTCFcKO mice were viable, but they demonstrated an age-dependent increase in reactive gliosis of astrocytes and microglia in the anterior cingulate cortex (ACC) from 16 weeks of age prior to neuronal loss observed at over 20 weeks of age. Consistent with these data, qRT-PCR analysis of theCTCFcKO ACC revealed changes in the expression of inflammation-related genes (Hspa1a,Prokr2andItga8) linked to gliosis and neuronal death. Our results suggest that prolongedCtcfgene deficiency in excitatory neurons results in neuronal cell death and gliosis, possibly through functional changes in inflammation-related genes. | Kwak, Ji-Hye; Kim, Somi; Yu, Nam-Kyung; Seo, Hyunhyo; Choi, Ja Eun; Kim, Ji-il; Choi, Dong Il; Kim, Myung Won; Kwak, Chuljung; Lee, Kyungmin; Kaang, Bong-Kiun | Kyungpook Natl Univ, Lab Behav Neural Circuitry & Physiol, Brain Sci & Engn Inst, Dept Anat,Sch Med, Daegu, South Korea; Seoul Natl Univ, Coll Nat Sci, Dept Biol Sci, Seoul, South Korea | SEO, Hyunhyo/AAR-6343-2021; Choi, Ja Eun/HTR-6298-2023; Lee, Kyungmin/ABC-5624-2020; Kim, SOOCHI/AAD-6959-2020 | 56689173300; 57200557270; 23767421000; 56611228800; 57194772568; 56924106100; 57201740255; 57203466754; 26435938700; 57211016316; 7003889686 | irislkm@knu.ac.kr;kaang@snu.ac.kr; | GENES BRAIN AND BEHAVIOR | GENES BRAIN BEHAV | 1601-1848 | 1601-183X | 20 | 2 | SCIE | BEHAVIORAL SCIENCES;NEUROSCIENCES | 2021 | 3.708 | 25.5 | 0.48 | 2025-07-30 | 6 | 6 | anterior cingulate cortex; CTCF; genome organizer; neuronal cell death; reactive gliosis | HEAT-SHOCK PROTEINS; MICROGLIA; CTCF; EXPRESSION; DEPRESSION; ASTROCYTE; GENES; HSP70 | anterior cingulate cortex; CTCF; genome organizer; neuronal cell death; reactive gliosis | Animals; Calcium-Calmodulin-Dependent Protein Kinase Type 2; CCCTC-Binding Factor; Cell Death; Female; Gene Deletion; Gliosis; Gyrus Cinguli; HSP70 Heat-Shock Proteins; Integrin alpha Chains; Male; Mice; Mice, Inbred C57BL; Neurons; Receptors, G-Protein-Coupled; Receptors, Peptide; transcription factor CTCF; alpha integrin; calcium calmodulin dependent protein kinase II; Camk2a protein, mouse; Ctcf protein, mouse; G protein coupled receptor; heat shock protein 70; Hsp70.3 protein, mouse; Prokr2 protein, mouse; receptor; transcription factor CTCF; adult; age; animal cell; animal experiment; animal model; animal tissue; anterior cingulate; Article; astrocyte; cell loss; controlled study; Ctcf gene; female; gene; gene expression; gene knockout; genome; gliosis; Hspa1a gene; inflammation; Itga8 gene; male; microglia; mouse; nerve cell degeneration; nonhuman; priority journal; Prokr2 gene; real time polymerase chain reaction; animal; C57BL mouse; cell death; cingulate gyrus; gene deletion; genetics; gliosis; metabolism; nerve cell; pathology | English | 2021 | 2021-02 | 10.1111/gbb.12701 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | |
| ○ | ○ | Article | Technical Feasibility and Safety of Percutaneous Coronary Intervention for True Ostial Left Anterior Descending Artery-Chronic Total Occlusion | Background: Percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) for true ostial left anterior descending artery (LAD) -chronic total occlusion (CTO) lesions poses technical challenges owing to its inherent anatomic features. Methods: In total, 270 consecutive patients who underwent PCI for ostial LAD-CTO at 13 major cardiac centers in South Korea were included. Ostial LAD-CTO was strictly defined as a LAD-CTO lesion whose proximal cap was within 1 mm from the carina of the distal left main coronary artery (LMCA) bifurcation. Results: Ostial LAD-CTOs were frequently accompanied by stumpless lesion entry (43.4%), whereas significant bending within the occluded segment was less frequent (14.4%). The overall technical success rate was 85.9%, and serious in-hospital adverse events occurred in 5.6%. The retrograde approach tended to contribute more frequently to success in patients with concomitant LMCA disease, stumpless CTO, interventional collaterals, and higher Japanese-CTO scores. Apparent dissection or hematoma requiring rescue procedure at the LMCA or left circumflex artery occurred in 14 patients (5.2%), with a higher tendency in patients who had LMCA disease (12.1% vs 4.2%) and stumpless entry (9.4% vs 2.0%) than in those without. Among patients who were successfully treated, with an average of 1.7 stents, target vessel failure occurred in 23 patients (9.9%) during a median 3.3 years of follow-up. Conclusions: In this first large-scale analysis of true ostial LAD-CTO, PCI was feasible with a high technical success rate and favourable mid-term outcomes. Clinically relevant inflow vessel injury can occur during PCI and should be an important technical consideration regarding safety. | Yoon, Yong-Hoon; Lee, Pil Hyung; Park, Taek Kyu; Lee, Jang Hoon; Cho, Young-Rak; Suh, Jon; Roh, Jae-Hyung; Lee, Jae-Hwan; Yoon, Chang-Hwan; Hong, Young Joon; Lee, Cheol Hyun; Her, Sung-Ho; Chun, Kook-Jin; Yoo, Sang-Yong; Lee, Jong-Young; Lee, Seung-Whan | Chungnam Natl Univ, Chungnam Natl Univ Hosp, Div Cardiol, Sch Med, Daejeon, South Korea; Univ Ulsan, Div Cardiol, Asan Med Ctr, Coll Med, Seoul, South Korea; Sungkyunkwan Univ, Heart Vasc Stroke Inst, Div Cardiol, Samsung Med Ctr,Sch Med, Seoul, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Kyungpook Natl Univ Hosp, Div Cardiol, Sch Med, Daegu, South Korea; Dong A Univ Hosp, Dept Cardiol, Busan, South Korea; Soonchunhyang Univ, Dept Cardiol, Bucheon Hosp, Bucheon, South Korea; Seoul Natl Univ, Cardiovasc Ctr, Bundang Hosp, Seongnam, South Korea; Chonnam Natl Univ, Chonnam Natl Univ Hosp, Div Cardiol, Sch Med, Gwangju, South Korea; Keimyung Univ, Div Cardiol, Dongsan Hosp, Daegu, South Korea; Catholic Univ Korea, Daejeon St Marys Hosp, Dept Cardiol, Coll Med, Seoul, South Korea; Pusan Natl Univ, Div Cardiol, Yangsan Hosp, Yangsan, South Korea; Gangneung Asan Hosp, Cardiovasc Ctr, Kangnung, South Korea; Sungkyunkwan Univ, Kangbuk Samsung Hosp, Div Cardiol, Sch Med, Seoul, South Korea | ; Lee, Jeong-Hoon/Q-1055-2018; Lee, Yoon/ABA-8808-2020; Hong, Young Joon/IYT-1369-2023; Lee, Joonseok/AFQ-8078-2022 | 56038479700; 35201186300; 55750570800; 54581258000; 55461048100; 16426220500; 57216309871; 36066387900; 7202882965; 13310329100; 57191446365; 12806475600; 8589314800; 14631314800; 24787752300; 17233718400 | jyleeheart@naver.com;seungwlee@amc.seoul.kr; | CANADIAN JOURNAL OF CARDIOLOGY | CAN J CARDIOL | 0828-282X | 1916-7075 | 37 | 3 | SCIE | CARDIAC & CARDIOVASCULAR SYSTEMS | 2021 | 6.617 | 25.5 | 0 | 2025-07-30 | 0 | 0 | INSIGHTS; OUTCOMES | Chronic Disease; Coronary Angiography; Coronary Occlusion; Coronary Vessels; Feasibility Studies; Female; Follow-Up Studies; Humans; Male; Middle Aged; Percutaneous Coronary Intervention; Retrospective Studies; Stents; Time Factors; Treatment Outcome; adult; adverse event; Article; cardiac patient; chronic total occlusion; cohort analysis; controlled study; coronary artery circumflex branch; coronary artery perforation; coronary stenting; dissection; feasibility study; female; follow up; heart arrest; heart center; heart tamponade; hematoma; high risk patient; human; left anterior descending coronary artery; major clinical study; male; middle aged; percutaneous coronary intervention; risk assessment; South Korea; chronic disease; clinical trial; coronary angiography; coronary artery occlusion; coronary blood vessel; diagnostic imaging; multicenter study; percutaneous coronary intervention; procedures; retrospective study; stent; time factor; treatment outcome | English | 2021 | 2021-03 | 10.1016/j.cjca.2020.08.009 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | |||
| ○ | ○ | Article | Korean validation of the Motives for Online Gaming Questionnaire: Focusing on its factor structure and incremental validity | Background and aims: Research has suggested that considering gaming motives can be useful in differentiating between heterogenous online game users. This study validated the Korean version of the Motives for Online Gaming Questionnaire (K-MOGQ) and attempted to reconcile the mixed findings on its factor structure. We also examined the incremental validity of the K-MOGQ beyond the personality variables implicated in Internet gaming disorder (IGD). Methods: After informed consent, six hundred and forty-one Korean online game users (mean age = 21.49 years) completed a survey package including the K-MOGQ. After exploratory factor analysis (EFA) was conducted, all existing models were compared using confirmatory factor analysis (CFA). A hierarchical regression analysis was conducted to demonstrate the incremental variance explained by gaming motives. Results: The K-MOGQ demonstrated a satisfactory reliability. The EFA and CFA revealed a six-factor (fantasy, escape, skill development, competition, recreation, and social motives) solution in which the coping factor disappeared from the original seven-factor structure. In addition, the escape and fantasy motives significantly predicted increased IGD symptoms even when introversion, neuroticism, and impulsivity were controlled for. Discussion and conclusions: Our results indicate that the K-MOGQ possesses good psychometric properties for measuring the motivational basis of online gaming in Korean-speaking populations. Furthermore, escape and fantasy factors emerged as the most salient motives for IGD symptoms. More research is required to clarify whether a Western-Eastern distinction applies to the factor structure of the MOGQ. | Kim, Bin-Na; Kang, Hyo Shin | Gachon Univ, Dept Psychol, Seongnam, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Dept Psychol, 80 Daehak Ro, Daegu 41566, South Korea | 56125185200; 57219595147 | shine-binna@hanmail.net;hyoshin.kang@knu.ac.kr; | ADDICTIVE BEHAVIORS | ADDICT BEHAV | 0306-4603 | 1873-6327 | 122 | SSCI;SCIE | PSYCHOLOGY, CLINICAL;SUBSTANCE ABUSE | 2021 | 4.591 | 25.6 | 0.93 | 2025-07-30 | 9 | 11 | Internet addiction; Online gaming; Motive; Factor analysis; Escape | PSYCHIATRIC-SYMPTOMS; ADDICTION; DISORDER; PERSONALITY; ANXIETY; MODEL; PLAY; ADOLESCENTS; IMPULSIVITY; PREVALENCE | Escape; Factor analysis; Internet addiction; Motive; Online gaming | Adult; Behavior, Addictive; Humans; Internet; Reproducibility of Results; Republic of Korea; Surveys and Questionnaires; Video Games; Young Adult; adult; Article; behavior assessment; competition; emotionality; female; game addiction; human; informed consent; internal consistency; international personality item pool; Korean (people); Likert scale; major clinical study; male; MMORPG (game); MOBA (game); Motives for Online Gaming Questionnaire; online game; personality assessment; sensation seeking; skill; social adaptation; UPPS P impulsive behavior scale; young adult; addiction; Internet; questionnaire; reproducibility; South Korea; video game | English | 2021 | 2021-11 | 10.1016/j.addbeh.2021.107019 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | |||
| ○ | ○ | Article | Caregiving, care burden and awareness of caregivers and patients with dementia in Asian locations: a secondary analysis | BackgroundThis study investigated the differences in caregiver activity, caregiver burden, and awareness of both caregivers and patients with Alzheimer's disease (AD) across different Asian locations.MethodsThis was a secondary analysis of a multi-national cohort study that aimed to assess caregiver activity and caregiver burden using the Caregiver Activity Scale (CAS) and Zarit Burden Interview (ZBI), respectively. Patients' awareness of their dementia diagnosis was assessed by asking the following yes/no question: "Do you have dementia?" Caregivers' awareness of the patient's dementia diagnosis was assessed by asking the following yes/no question: "Does your patient have dementia?"ResultsIn total, 524 caregivers of patients with AD from China, Hong Kong, South Korea, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Taiwan participated. The CAS and ZBI score were significantly different across most locations (p<0.001 and p=0.033, respectively). Overall, 56.6% of caregivers and 37.5% of patients had awareness of the dementia diagnosis, and the proportion of patients and caregivers with awareness were also different between each location (all, p<0.001).ConclusionsCaregiving, caregiver burden, and the awareness of caregivers and patients were different across many Asian locations. With understanding of cultural differences, further public education on dementia could help increase the awareness of patients and caregivers and reduce caregiver burden.Trial registrationClinicalTrials.gov, NCT02262975. | ○ | ○ | Article | Complete mapping of magnetic anisotropy for prototype Ising van der Waals FePS3 | Several Ising-type magnetic van der Waals (vdW) materials exhibit stable magnetic ground states. Despite these clear experimental demonstrations, a complete theoretical and microscopic understanding of their magnetic anisotropy is still lacking. In particular, the validity limit of identifying their one-dimensional Ising nature has remained uninvestigated in a quantitative way. Here we performed the complete mapping of magnetic anisotropy for a prototypical Ising vdW magnet FePS3 for the first time. Combining torque magnetometry measurements with their magnetostatic model analysis and the relativistic density functional total energy calculations, we successfully constructed the three-dimensional mappings of the magnetic anisotropy in terms of magnetic torque and energy. The results not only quantitatively confirm that the easy axis is perpendicular to the ab plane, but also reveal the anisotropies within the ab, ac, and bc planes. Our approach can be applied to the detailed quantitative study of magnetism in vdW materials. | Nauman, Muhammad; Kiem, Do Hoon; Lee, Sungmin; Son, Suhan; Park, Je-Geun; Kang, Woun; Han, Myung Joon; Jo, Younjung | Kyungpook Natl Univ, Dept Phys, Daegu 41566, South Korea; Korea Adv Inst Sci & Technol KAIST, Dept Phys, Daejeon 34141, South Korea; Seoul Natl Univ, Dept Phys & Astron, Seoul 08826, South Korea; Seoul Natl Univ, Ctr Quantum Mat, Seoul 08826, South Korea; Ewha Womans Univ, Dept Phys, Seoul 03760, South Korea | ; Kim, Hong/AAR-4892-2020; Han, Myung Joon/H-7104-2012; Park, Je/K-8571-2013; Han, Myung Joon/ABD-8324-2021; Nauman, Muhammad/AAG-9189-2019 | 57195713298; 57214757485; 57192438180; 57205406101; 56031444100; 7202402145; 57761989000; 13502586500 | mj.han@kaist.ac.kr;jophy@knu.ac.kr; | 2D MATERIALS | 2D MATER | 2053-1583 | 8 | 3 | SCIE | MATERIALS SCIENCE, MULTIDISCIPLINARY | 2021 | 6.861 | 25.7 | 1.32 | 2025-07-30 | 22 | 22 | FePS3; torque measurement; magnetic anisotropy energy; Ising-type magnetic structure | Feps3; Ising-type magnetic structure; Magnetic anisotropy energy; Torque measurement | Ground state; Iron compounds; Magnetism; Magnetostatics; Mapping; Phosphorus compounds; Sulfur compounds; Tungsten compounds; Van der Waals forces; Density functionals; Experimental demonstrations; Magnetic ground state; Magnetostatic modeling; Quantitative study; Three dimensional mapping; Torque magnetometry; Total energy calculation; Magnetic anisotropy | English | 2021 | 2021-10 | 10.1088/2053-1583/abeed3 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | |||
| ○ | ○ | Article | Hybrid fitting-numerical method for determining strain-hardening behavior of sheet metals | The uniaxial tensile test is well-established for experimentally identifying the stress-strain relationship for sheet metals. Conventionally, true stress-strain data obtained from the test are used to identify the hardening law's parameters using the curve-fitting method. Extrapolation using the identified hardening law describes the stress-strain relationship at large strains; however, it varies widely, depending on the selection of hardening models and their identified parameters. This study presents a hybrid method incorporating the curve-fitting method and inverse finite element analysis to identify the Kim-Tuan hardening model's parameters over large strain ranges. Here, the curve-fitting method enforces the identified hardening law's accuracy in the pre-necking range. Simultaneously, the inverse finite element analysis method maintains the goodness of the post-necking prediction. The proposed method is used to calibrate hardening laws for DP780 and AA6016-T651 sheet metals subjected to uniaxial tensile tests at room and warm temperatures, respectively. The calibrated hardening laws capture the force-displacement curves of both materials well, validating the ability of the presented method in practice. | Quoc Tuan Pham; Trung Nguyen-Thoi; Ha, Jinjin; Kim, Young-Suk | Ton Duc Thang Univ, Inst Computat Sci, Div Computat Math & Engn, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam; Ton Duc Thang Univ, Fac Civil Engn, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam; Univ New Hampshire, Dept Mech Engn, Durham, NH 03824 USA; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Sch Mech Engn, Daegu 41566, South Korea | Ha, Jinjin/AIC-8684-2022; Pham, Tuan/AAH-8010-2019; Trung, Nguyen/E-5467-2019; Kim, Sang-Hoon/AAA-2248-2020; Nguyen-Thoi, Trung/E-5467-2019; Pham, Quoc Tuan/AAH-8010-2019 | 57191753992; 24171745600; 55000010500; 36065820800 | phamquoctuan@tdtu.edu.vn;nguyenthoitrung@tdtu.edu.vn;jinjin.ha@unh.edu;caekim@knu.ac.kr; | MECHANICS OF MATERIALS | MECH MATER | 0167-6636 | 1872-7743 | 161 | SCIE | MATERIALS SCIENCE, MULTIDISCIPLINARY;MECHANICS | 2021 | 4.137 | 25.7 | 0.98 | 2025-07-30 | 20 | 21 | Strain hardening behavior; Curve-fitting method; Inverse finite element analysis; Kim-Tuan hardening law; Sheet metals | POST-NECKING BEHAVIOR; HIGH-STRENGTH STEEL; DUCTILE FRACTURE; LIMIT CURVE; FLOW-STRESS; WIDE-RANGE; BULGE TEST; IDENTIFICATION; PARAMETERS; ANISOTROPY | Curve-fitting method; Inverse finite element analysis; Kim–Tuan hardening law; Sheet metals; Strain hardening behavior | Curve fitting; Ductile fracture; Inverse problems; Metals; Numerical methods; Sheet metal; Strain; Strain hardening; Tensile testing; Curve fitting methods; Hardening laws; Hardening model; Inverse finite element analysis; Kim–tuan hardening law; Large strains; Strain hardening behavior; Stress/strain relationships; True stress-strain; Uniaxial tensile test; Finite element method | English | 2021 | 2021-10 | 10.1016/j.mechmat.2021.104031 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | ||
| ○ | ○ | Article | New procedure for determining the strain hardening behavior of sheet metals at large strains using the curve fitting method | The stress-strain relationship of a sheet metal is conventionally evaluated from the experimental data obtained from the uniaxial tensile test before the onset of localized necking. The identification of the hardening behavior beyond the neck or post-necking behavior is essential for studying material fracture. This study presents a new procedure of identifying the flow stresses of sheet metals at large strains. In this procedure, the experimental data obtained from the uniaxial tensile test and the measured forming limit at a plane-strain tension mode FLC0 are adopted in the curve fitting procedure for calibrating the parameters of different hardening laws. The measured FLC0 is introduced in the cost function of the fitting to provide an additional constraint for the hardening parameters in large strain ranges. Using the uniaxial tensile test data ensures the accuracy of the pre-necking description of the hardening. The proposed method decreases the variation of the predicted flow stresses beyond the uniform elongation for different hardening laws. For validation purposes, the developed approach is applied to calibrate the parameters of the Kim-Tuan and the linear combined Swift/Voce hardening models for three sheet metals tested in Numisheet (2014) benchmarks. The hardening laws with newly identified parameters are implemented into the finite element software ABAQUS/Explicit to simulate the standard uniaxial tensile and reverse drawing tests. The comparative results show that the simulated tensile force in the uniaxial tensile tests and the simulated punch force in the reverse drawing tests agree well with the experiments, thereby validating the accuracy and the efficiency of the proposed identification procedure of large strain hardening in sheet metals. | Pham, Quoc Tuan; Lee, Myoung-Gyu; Kim, Young-Suk | Ton Duc Thang Univ, Inst Computat Sci, Div Computat Math & Engn, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam; Ton Duc Thang Univ, Fac Civil Engn, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam; Seoul Natl Univ, Dept Mat Sci & Engn, Seoul 08826, South Korea; Seoul Natl Univ, RIAM, Seoul 08826, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Sch Mech Engn, Daegu 41566, South Korea | Pham, Quoc Tuan/AAH-8010-2019; Pham, Tuan/AAH-8010-2019; Kim, Sang-Hoon/AAA-2248-2020 | 57191753992; 26323686000; 36065820800 | phamquoctuan@tdtu.edu.vn;myounglee@snu.ac.kr;caekim@knu.ac.kr; | MECHANICS OF MATERIALS | MECH MATER | 0167-6636 | 1872-7743 | 154 | SCIE | MATERIALS SCIENCE, MULTIDISCIPLINARY;MECHANICS | 2021 | 4.137 | 25.7 | 1.12 | 2025-07-30 | 17 | 18 | Hardening law; Post-necking behavior; Parameter identification; Curve fitting method; Sheet metals | DUCTILE ANISOTROPIC SHEETS; FORMING LIMIT CRITERION; ALUMINUM-ALLOY SHEETS; HIGH-STRENGTH STEEL; NONASSOCIATED FLOW; MATERIAL PROPERTY; BULGE TEST; PART II; IDENTIFICATION; DEFORMATION | Curve fitting method; Hardening law; Parameter identification; Post-necking behavior; Sheet metals | ABAQUS; Cost functions; Curve fitting; Ductile fracture; Elasticity; Metal drawing; Metals; Plastic flow; Sheet metal; Software testing; Strain; Strain hardening; Tensile testing; Curve fitting methods; Finite element software; Hardening parameters; Identification procedure; Identified parameter; Strain hardening behavior; Uniaxial tensile test; Uniform elongation; Metal testing | English | 2021 | 2021-03 | 10.1016/j.mechmat.2020.103729 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | ||
| ○ | ○ | Article | Numerical prediction of settlement due to the Pohang earthquake | On 15 November 2017, an earthquake with a magnitude of 5.4 caused geotechnical damage over a wide area of Pohang, South Korea. In this study, the UBCSAND constitutive effective stress model is calibrated by cyclic direct simple shear (CDSS) tests conducted on a type of sand from liquefied paddy fields at Pohang under confining stresses of 100 and 200 kPa. The calibrated UBCSAND model is then used to assess the liquefaction and calculate the ground settlement based on standard penetration test (SPT) data near the epicenter of the Pohang earthquake. The liquefaction characteristics from the UBCSAND model matched those from laboratory tests. According to the numerical results, liquefaction mostly occurred within the uppermost 10 m, and ground surface settlement from excess pore water pressure dissipation varied from 3.86 to 10.95 cm. These settlements were higher than the surface displacement estimated by satellite image analysis with interferometric synthetic aperture radar (InSAR) and lower than the ground subsidence observed solely by visiting the sites. | Park, Sung-Sik; Doan, Nhat-Phi; Nong, Zhenzhen | Kyungpook Natl Univ, Dept Civil Engn, 1370 Sangyeok Dong, Daegu 702701, South Korea | DOAN, NHAT-PHI/IAM-1883-2023 | 36241850300; 58095587400; 57211377923 | phidoan.ksxd@gmail.com; | EARTHQUAKE SPECTRA | EARTHQ SPECTRA | 8755-2930 | 1944-8201 | 37 | 2 | SCIE | ENGINEERING, CIVIL;ENGINEERING, GEOLOGICAL | 2021 | 4.33 | 25.7 | 1.03 | 2025-07-30 | 10 | 13 | The 2017 Pohang earthquake; liquefaction; ground settlement; effective stress analysis; UBCSAND model | M-W 5.4; LIQUEFACTION; DEFORMATIONS; KOREA | effective stress analysis; ground settlement; liquefaction; The 2017 Pohang earthquake; UBCSAND model | North Kyongsang; Pohang; South Korea; Liquefaction; Settlement of structures; Synthetic aperture radar; Tunneling (excavation); Direct simple shears; Excess pore water pressure; Ground surface settlements; Interferometric synthetic aperture radars; Numerical predictions; Satellite image analysis; Standard penetration test; Surface displacement; earthquake event; effective stress; ground settlement; liquefaction; model; prediction; sand; shear test; Earthquakes | English | 2021 | 2021-05 | 10.1177/8755293020957345 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 |
