| ○ | ○ | Article | Isolation and Characterization of Feline Wharton's Jelly-Derived Mesenchymal Stem Cells | Wharton's jelly is a well-known mesenchymal stem cell source in many species, including humans. However, there have been no reports confirming the presence of mesenchymal stem cells in Wharton's jelly in cats. The purpose of this study was to isolate mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) from the Wharton's jelly of cats and to characterize stem cells. In this study, feline Wharton's jelly-derived mesenchymal stem cells (fWJ-MSCs) were isolated and successfully cultured. fWJ-MSCs were maintained and the proliferative potential was measured by cumulative population doubling level (CPDL) test, scratch test, and colony forming unit (CFU) test. Stem cell marker, karyotyping and immunophenotyping analysis by flow cytometry showed that fWJ-MSCs possessed characteristic mesenchymal stem cell markers. To confirm the differentiation potential, we performed osteogenic, adipogenic and chondrogenic induction under each differentiation condition. fWJ-MSCs has the ability to differentiate into multiple lineages, including osteogenic, adipogenic and chondrogenic differentiation. This study shows that Wharton's jelly of cat can be a good source of mesenchymal stem cells. In addition, fWJ-MSCs may be useful for stem cell-based therapeutic applications in feline medicine. | Seo, Min-Soo; Kang, Kyung-Ku; Oh, Se-Kyung; Sung, Soo-Eun; Kim, Kil-Soo; Kwon, Young-Sam; Yun, Sungho | Daegu Gyeongbuk Med Innovat Fdn, Lab Anim Ctr, Daegu 41061, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Dept Vet Toxicol, Coll Vet Med, Daegu 41566, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Coll Vet Med, Dept Vet Surg, Daegu 41566, South Korea | ; Kim, Seung/N-5248-2019 | 35254332100; 57215079376; 55613424400; 56051194000; 35272034300; 7403459426; 57201366734 | msseo@dgmif.re.kr;kangkk@dgmif.re.kr;osek1204@dgmif.re.kr;sesung@dgmif.re.kr;kslac@dgmif.re.kr;kwon@knu.ac.kr;shyun@knu.ac.kr; | VETERINARY SCIENCES | VET SCI | 2306-7381 | 8 | 2 | SCIE | VETERINARY SCIENCES | 2021 | 2.518 | 25.2 | 1.85 | 2025-07-30 | 10 | 11 | feline; Wharton’ s jelly; mesenchymal stem cell; characterization | STROMAL CELLS; AMNIOTIC-FLUID; DIFFERENTIATION; THERAPY; PROLIFERATION; MEMBRANE; CULTURE; BLOOD; FETAL | Characterization; Feline; Mesenchymal stem cell; Wharton’s jelly | adipogenesis; animal cell; animal experiment; animal tissue; Article; cat; cell culture; cell differentiation; cell isolation; cell lineage; cell proliferation; chondrogenesis; colony forming unit; controlled study; female; flow cytometry; fluorescence activated cell sorting; immunophenotyping; karyotyping; mesenchymal stroma cell; nonhuman; real time polymerase chain reaction; sequence analysis; stem cell transplantation; veterinary medicine | English | 2021 | 2021-02 | 10.3390/vetsci8020024 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | ||
| ○ | ○ | Article | Mesenchymal Stem Cell Exosomes Derived from Feline Adipose Tissue Enhance the Effects of Anti-Inflammation Compared to Fibroblasts-Derived Exosomes | Adipose tissue-derived mesenchymal stem cells (AD-MSCs) release extracellular vesicles such as exosomes, apoptotic bodies, and microparticles. In particular, exosomes are formed inside cells via multivesicular bodies (MVBs), thus their protein, DNA, and RNA content are similar to those of the parent cells. Exosome research is rapidly expanding, with an increase in the number of related publications observed in recent years; therefore, the function and application of MSC-derived exosomes could emerge as cell-free therapeutics. Exosomes have been isolated from feline AD-MSCs and feline fibroblast cell culture media using ultracentrifugation. Feline exosomes have been characterized by FACS, nanoparticle tracking analysis, and transmission electron microscopy imaging. Moreover, cytokine levels were detected by sandwich enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay in exosomes and LPS-induced THP-1 macrophages. The size of the isolated exosomes was that of a typical exosome, i.e., approximately 150 nm, and they expressed tetraspanins CD9 and CD81. The anti-inflammatory factor IL-10 was increased in feline AD-MSC-derived exosomes. However, pro-inflammatory factors such as IL-1 beta, IL-8, IL-2, RANTES, and IFN-gamma were significantly decreased in feline AD-MSC-derived exosomes. This was the first demonstration that feline AD-MSC-derived exosomes enhance the inflammatory suppressive effects and have potential for the treatment of immune diseases or as an inflammation-inhibition therapy. | Sung, Soo-Eun; Seo, Min-Soo; Kang, Kyung-Ku; Choi, Joo-Hee; Lee, Sijoon; Sung, Minkyoung; Kim, Kilsoo; Lee, Gun Woo; Lim, Ju-Hyeon; Yang, Seung Yun; Yim, Sang-Gu; Kim, Seul-Ki; Park, Sangbum; Kwon, Young-Sam; Yun, Sungho | Daegu Gyeongbuk Med Innovat Fdn DGMIF, Lab Anim Ctr, Daegu 41061, South Korea; Pusan Natl Univ, Dept Biomat Sci, BK21 Program 4, Miryang 50463, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Coll Vet Med, 80 Daehakro, Daegu 41566, South Korea; Yeungnam Univ Coll Med, Yeungnam Univ Med Ctr, Dept Orthoped Surg, 170 Hyochung Ro, Daegu 42415, South Korea; Osong Med Innovat Fdn, New Drug Dev Ctr, Chungbuk 28160, South Korea; KolmarBNH CO LTD, Food Sci R&D Ctr, Efficacy Evaluat Team, 61 Heolleungro 8-Gil, Seoul 06800, South Korea; Michigan State Univ, Inst Quantitat Hlth Sci & Engn IQ, Auditorium Rd 775 Woodlot Dr, E Lansing, MI 48824 USA; Michigan State Univ, Coll Human Med, Dept Med, Div Dermatol, Auditorium Rd 775 Woodlot Dr, E Lansing, MI 48824 USA; Michigan State Univ, Coll Human Med, Dept Pharmacol & Toxicol, 775 Woodlot Dr, E Lansing, MI 48824 USA; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Dept Vet Surg, Coll Vet Med, Daegu 41566, South Korea | ; Yang, Seung/B-5974-2016; Lee, Sijoon/LIC-1291-2024 | 56051194000; 35254332100; 57215079376; 55882556800; 57219164019; 57256838000; 35272034300; 55599978600; 57218821150; 56472969700; 57190217527; 57208163685; 55390841500; 7403459426; 57201366734 | sesung@dgmif.re.kr;msseo@dgmif.re.kr;kangkk@dgmif.re.kr;cjh522@dgmif.re.kr;sjlee1013@dgmif.re.kr;tjdalsrud27@naver.com;kskim728@knu.ac.kr;gwlee1871@gmail.com;globaljh2019@gmail.com;syang@pusan.ac.kr;sg.yim0425@gmail.com;lovesshot@kolmarbnh.co.kr;spark@msu.edu;kwon@knu.ac.kr;shyun@knu.ac.kr; | VETERINARY SCIENCES | VET SCI | 2306-7381 | 8 | 9 | SCIE | VETERINARY SCIENCES | 2021 | 2.518 | 25.2 | 1.3 | 2025-07-30 | 7 | 8 | feline; mesenchymal stem cells; exosomes; extracellular vesicles; anti-inflammation | EXTRACELLULAR VESICLES; DELIVERY VEHICLES; CYTOKINES; INTERLEUKIN-8; RANTES; RNA | Anti-inflammation; Exosomes; Extracellular vesicles; Feline; Mesenchymal stem cells | beta1 integrin; CD14 antigen; CD28 antigen; CD36 antigen; CD81 antigen; CD9 antigen; gamma interferon; HLA DR antigen; interleukin 10; interleukin 12; interleukin 1beta; interleukin 2; interleukin 4; interleukin 6; interleukin 8; RANTES; stress activated protein kinase; tumor necrosis factor; adipose tissue; animal cell; animal experiment; animal tissue; antiinflammatory activity; apoptosis; Article; bone development; CD4+ T lymphocyte; cell differentiation; controlled study; cytokine production; enzyme activity; enzyme linked immunosorbent assay; exosome; female; fibroblast; flow cytometry; gene expression; human; human cell; immune response; immunopathology; inflammation; mesenchymal stem cell; multivesicular body; nonhuman; phagocytosis; protein expression; RNA analysis; tissue regeneration; transmission electron microscopy; ultracentrifugation | English | 2021 | 2021-09 | 10.3390/vetsci8090182 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | ||
| ○ | ○ | Article | Phenotype of the Aging-Dependent Spontaneous Onset of Hearing Loss in DBA/2 Mice | Simple Summary In this study, we confirmed the changes in hearing function and inner ear structure over a long period of time in DBA/2 mice, a laboratory animal model suitable for studying hearing loss. We believe that our study is the first to report findings regarding hearing function and structural changes in DBA/2 mice aged >= 34 weeks. These results are of significance for researchers and the scientific community using laboratory animal models. DBA/2 mice are a well-known animal model for hearing loss developed due to intrinsic properties of these animals. However, results on the phenotype of hearing loss in DBA/2 mice have been mainly reported at an early stage in mice aged <= 7 weeks. Instead, the present study evaluated the hearing ability at 5, 13, and 34 weeks of age using DBA/2korl mice. Auditory brainstem response test was performed at 8-32 KHz at 5, 13, and 34 weeks of age, and hearing loss was confirmed to be induced in a time-dependent manner. In addition, histopathological evaluation at the same age confirmed the morphological damage of the cochlea. The findings presented herein are the results of the long-term observation of the phenotype of hearing loss in DBA/2 mice and can be useful in studies related to aging-dependent hearing loss. | Seo, Min-Soo; Lee, Byeonghyeon; Kang, Kyung-Ku; Sung, Soo-Eun; Choi, Joo-Hee; Lee, Si-Joon; Kim, Young-In; Jung, Young-Suk; Kim, Un-Kyung; Kim, Kil Soo | Daegu Gyeongbuk Med Innovat Fdn, Lab Anim Ctr, Daegu 41016, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Coll Nat Sci, Dept Biol, Daegu 41016, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Adv Bioresource Res Ctr, Daegu 41566, South Korea; KPC Corp, Gwangju 12773, South Korea; Pusan Natl Univ, Coll Pharm, Busan 46241, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Sch Life Sci, BK21 Plus Project, KNU Creat BioRes Grp, Daegu 41016, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Coll Vet Med, Dept Vet Toxicol, Daegu 41566, South Korea | ; Kim, Seung/N-5248-2019; Lee, Sijoon/LIC-1291-2024 | 35254332100; 56384026400; 57215079376; 56051194000; 55882556800; 57219164019; 59290711000; 56428348300; 7102248968; 35272034300 | msseo@dgmif.re.kr;lbh2080@knu.ac.kr;kangkk@dgmif.re.kr;sesung@dgmif.re.kr;cjh522@dgmif.re.kr;sjlee1013@dgmif.re.kr;kimyoungin@kpclab.co.kr;youngjung@pusan.ac.kr;kimuk@knu.ac.kr;kskim728@knu.ac.kr; | VETERINARY SCIENCES | VET SCI | 2306-7381 | 8 | 3 | SCIE | VETERINARY SCIENCES | 2021 | 2.518 | 25.2 | 0.74 | 2025-07-30 | 3 | 4 | hearing loss; laboratory animals; aging; DBA; 2 mice | Aging; DBA/2 mice; Hearing loss; Laboratory animals | age; aging; animal experiment; animal model; animal tissue; Article; cochlea injury; controlled study; DBA 2 mouse; evoked brain stem auditory response; hearing; hearing impairment; histopathology; male; mouse; mouse model; nonhuman; phenotype; time | English | 2021 | 2021-03 | 10.3390/vetsci8030049 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | |||
| ○ | ○ | Article | Uplink NOMA Using Power Allocation for UAV-Aided CSMA/CA Networks | One of the most attractive applications of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) is deploying wireless communication systems. We consider a UAV-based low-altitude platform (LAP) to deploy an aerial hotspot to provide Wi-Fi coverage without infrastructure and severe shadowing by urban or mountainous terrain. To address the performance degradation of carrier sense multiple access with collision avoidance (CSMA/CA) by increasing packet collisions with the number of clients, we exploit nonorthogonal multiple access (NOMA). To the best of authors' knowledge, there are no previous studies on uplink NOMA in CSMA/CA networks. In the considered system, owing to the distributed architecture and small channel difference of stations, conventional NOMA methods in cellular systems are not suitable. In this paper, we propose a power allocation scheme for uplink transmissions using predetermined power levels with a stochastic power selection to reduce the probability of packet collisions. A new medium access control procedure for uplink NOMA with CSMA/CA is also presented. The analytic results demonstrate that the proposed scheme achieves better saturation throughput and average packet delay than conventional CSMA/CA. | Kwon, Yohan; Baek, Hoki; Lim, Jaesung | Ajou Univ, Grad Sch Comp Engn, Suwon 16499, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Sch Comp Sci & Engn, Daegu 41566, South Korea | Baek, Hoki/T-5233-2019 | 57222575679; 35112685500; 15062934300 | dygks8989@ajou.ac.kr;neloyou@knu.ac.kr;jaslim@ajou.ac.kr; | IEEE SYSTEMS JOURNAL | IEEE SYST J | 1932-8184 | 1937-9234 | 15 | 2 | SCIE | COMPUTER SCIENCE, INFORMATION SYSTEMS;ENGINEERING, ELECTRICAL & ELECTRONIC;OPERATIONS RESEARCH & MANAGEMENT SCIENCE;TELECOMMUNICATIONS | 2021 | 4.802 | 25.2 | 1.04 | 2025-07-30 | 14 | 17 | NOMA; Uplink; Signal to noise ratio; Resource management; Wireless communication; Media Access Protocol; Throughput; Carrier sense multiple access; nonorthogonal multiple access (NOMA); power allocation; unmanned aerial vehicle-aided wireless communication | PERFORMANCE | Carrier sense multiple access; nonorthogonal multiple access (NOMA); power allocation; unmanned aerial vehicle-Aided wireless communication | Antennas; Carrier communication; Medium access control; Stochastic systems; Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV); Average packet delays; Carrier sense multiple access with collision avoidances; Distributed architecture; Mountainous terrain; Performance degradation; Saturation throughput; Up-link transmissions; Wireless communication system; Carrier sense multiple access | English | 2021 | 2021-06 | 10.1109/jsyst.2020.3028884 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | |
| ○ | ○ | Article | Applying convolutional neural networks to assess the external quality of strawberries | Deterioration in the appearance of strawberries is attributed to rapid metabolic changes, cellular damage, and softening occurring during their distribution and storage. To quickly and non-destructively monitor the external quality of strawberries, recognition models based on 750 Red Green Blue (RGB) image classifications and using convolutional neural networks (CNNs) were developed. A model using eight configurations was used to compare the discrimination accuracies according to the following variables: training-test set distributions, number of learning images, and number of epochs. Strawberry samples were classified as fresh, bruised, or moldy. According to our validation results, training the model with 90 % of the image data ensured a high learning performance. Using our test dataset, we found that the accuracy, precision, specificity, and sensitivity of the model reached 97 %. In the feature map derived from convolutional layers, the bruised and moldy areas of the strawberry were also identified. Together, these results suggest that CNNs have potential use in the nondestructive monitoring of quality changes in the food industry. | Choi, Ji-Young; Seo, Kwangwon; Cho, Jeong-Seok; Moon, Kwang-Deog | Kyungpook Natl Univ, Sch Food Biotechnol, 80 Daehak Ro, Daegu 41566, South Korea; Hanyang Univ, Dept Robot Engn, 55 Hanyang Daehak Ro, Ansan 15588, South Korea; Korea Food Res Inst, Res Grp Consumer Safety, Wonju 55365, South Korea | 57219113098; 57225897395; 56310090800; 55999192900 | chjiyeng91@naver.com;kwangwon@hanyang.ac.kr;jscho@kfri.re.kr;kdmoon@knu.ac.kr; | JOURNAL OF FOOD COMPOSITION AND ANALYSIS | J FOOD COMPOS ANAL | 0889-1575 | 1096-0481 | 102 | SCIE | CHEMISTRY, APPLIED;FOOD SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY | 2021 | 4.52 | 25.3 | 1.9 | 2025-07-30 | 30 | 33 | Strawberry; External quality monitoring; RGB image; Convolutional neural network; Deep learning; Training-test set distributions | ROC | Convolutional neural network; Deep learning; External quality monitoring; RGB image; Strawberry; Training–test set distributions | English | 2021 | 2021-09 | 10.1016/j.jfca.2021.104071 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | ||||
| ○ | ○ | Article | Effective 1.9-2.1 μm emissions in Er³⁺/Ho³⁺: GGG and Er³⁺/ Tm³⁺: GGG crystals sensitized with Er³⁺ | In this work, we report the enhanced 2080 nm emission from Ho3+ and 1999 nm emission of Tm3+ both via Er3+ sensitization in Gd3Ga5O12 (abbr. as GGG) crystals excited with 965 nm laser diode (LD) respectively. The underlying mechanisms were analyzed based on the measurements of absorption and emission spectra as well as fluorescence decay curves. Optical parameters including absorption and emission cross-sections, as well as fluorescence decay times are evaluated and compared. Owing to the co-doped sensitizer ion Er3+, a strong absorption near 965 nm plays an important role in the enhanced 2080 nm emission by transferring pump energy to Ho3+: I-5(7) level in Er, Ho: GGG crystal, similarly, transferring energy from Er3+ to Tm3+: F-3(4) level is conducive to improve 1999 nm emission in Er, Tm: GGG crystal. The above results demonstrate that the introduction of Er3+ into Ho3+ or Tm3+ activated materials offers a promising approach to obtain an enhanced 1.9-2.1 mu m laser, which could operate upon 965 nm LD pumping, and the efficient energy transfer plays a key role in rare-earth ions doped luminescent materials. | Wang, Yan; Lakshminarayana, G.; You, Zhenyu; Li, Jianfu; Zhu, Zhaojie; Tu, Chaoyang; Lee, Dong-Eun; Yoon, Jonghun; Park, Taejoon | Chinese Acad Sci, Fujian Inst Res Struct Matter, Key Lab Optoelect Mat Chem & Phys CAS, Fuzhou 350002, Fujian, Peoples R China; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Intelligent Construct Automat Ctr, 80 Daehak Ro, Daegu 41566, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Sch Architecture Civil Environm & Energy, 1370 Sangyeok Dong, Daegu 702701, South Korea; Hanyang Univ, Dept Mech Engn, 55 Hanyangdaehak Ro, Ansan 15588, Gyeonggi Do, South Korea; Hanyang Univ, Dept Robot Engn, 55 Hanyangdaehak Ro, Ansan 15588, Gyeonggi Do, South Korea | 55992327100; 57194637883; 7102207842; 8643618700; 7404803891; 55543060400; 56605563300; 56449838900; 55717001200 | gandham@knu.ac.kr;tcy@fjirsm.ac.cn;dolee@knu.ac.kr;yooncsmd@gmail.com;taejoon@hanyang.ac.kr; | JOURNAL OF LUMINESCENCE | J LUMIN | 0022-2313 | 1872-7883 | 238 | SCIE | OPTICS | 2021 | 4.171 | 25.3 | 0.16 | 2025-07-30 | 2 | 2 | similar to 2.0 mu m emission; Er, Ho: GGG crystal; Er, Tm: GGG crystal; NIR spectroscopy; Energy transfer | SPECTROSCOPIC PROPERTIES; UP-CONVERSION; LASER; GROWTH; INTENSITIES | Energy transfer; Er, Ho: GGG crystal; Er, Tm: GGG crystal; NIR spectroscopy; ~2.0 μm emission | Emission spectroscopy; Erbium compounds; Fluorescence; Gadolinium compounds; Gallium compounds; Holmium compounds; Infrared devices; Metal ions; Near infrared spectroscopy; Pumping (laser); Rare earths; Absorption and emission spectra; Decay curves; Energy-transfer; Er, ho: GGG crystal; Er, tm: GGG crystal; Fluorescence decays; Measurements of; NIR spectroscopy; Sensitisation; ~2.0 μm emission; Energy transfer | English | 2021 | 2021-10 | 10.1016/j.jlumin.2021.118309 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | |||
| ○ | ○ | Article | Geographical origin discriminant analysis of Chia seeds (Salvia hispanica L.) using hyperspectral imaging | In this study, hyperspectral imaging was used to study chia seeds grown in Argentina, Paraguay, and Bolivia to determine their origin. Multiplicative scatter correction was the most effective data preprocessing method, with a discrimination prediction accuracy of 0.9111. Discriminative wavelengths obtained from beta coefficients were 912, 1270, 1405, 1611, and 1700 nm, associated O-H bonds in water and C-H bonds of fat and fatty acids). Crude lipid content and fatty acid composition differed significantly by origin. Palmitic, linoleic and alpha-linolenic acid values were predicted with R2 values of 0.9735, 0.9729 and 0.9526, respectively, with a partial least squares regression model. Thus, the origins of chia seeds can be used to discriminate using hyperspectral imaging analysis. | Choi, Ji-Young; Kim, Hee-Chul; Moon, Kwang-Deog | Kyungpook Natl Univ, Sch Food Sci & Biotechnol, 80 Daehak Ro, Daegu 41566, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Food & Bioind Res Inst, 80 Daehak Ro, Daegu 41566, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Coll Agr & Life Sci, Bldg 3,80 Daehak Ro, Daegu, South Korea | 57219113098; 57208245342; 55999192900 | chjiyeng91@naver.com;rlagmlejf124@naver.com;kdmoon@knu.ac.kr; | JOURNAL OF FOOD COMPOSITION AND ANALYSIS | J FOOD COMPOS ANAL | 0889-1575 | 1096-0481 | 101 | SCIE | CHEMISTRY, APPLIED;FOOD SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY | 2021 | 4.52 | 25.3 | 1.9 | 2025-07-30 | 28 | 28 | Chia seed; Moisture content; Crude lipid content; Fatty acid content; Hyperspectral imaging; PLS analysis; Spectra preprocessing; Multiplicative scatter correction; Geographical origin | NEAR-INFRARED SPECTROSCOPY; FATTY-ACIDS; WHEAT-FLOUR; OIL CONTENT; PREDICTION; MOISTURE; QUALITY; PROFILE; COLOR | Chia seed; Crude lipid content; Fatty acid content; Geographical origin; Hyperspectral imaging; Moisture content; Multiplicative scatter correction; PLS analysis; Spectra preprocessing | English | 2021 | 2021-08 | 10.1016/j.jfca.2021.103916 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | ||||
| ○ | ○ | Article | Low temperature luminescence and scintillation properties of NaLa(MoO4)2 crystal grown by the vertical Bridgman method | Scheelite related rare-earth double molybdate with the formula of NaLa(MoO4)(2) is a promising scintillator for investigating the neutrinoless double beta decay process. In this study, NaLa(MoO4)(2) crystal was grown by the vertical Bridgman method using spontaneous crystallization. The as-grown NaLa(MoO4)(2) crystal exhibited yellow and dark blue in color (from top to the bottom). The powder x-ray diffraction and optical transmission spectra of the crystal were measured at room temperature. The temperature dependence of the luminescence and scintillation properties were measured under the excitations of 4.42 eV UV light from a LED source and (-particles from a(90)Sr source in 10-300 K range, respectively. The transmittance of the annealed NaLa(MoO4)(2) crystal sample with the thickness of 10 mm was about 65-72% above the fundamental absorption edge. The light yield under UV and beta-particles excitations were found to be enhanced upon cooling and exhibited maximum intensity at 10 K. The luminescence light yield of NaLa(MoO4)(2 )crystal was estimated to be about half of that of CaMoO4 crystal and 18 times as much as that of Li2MoO4 crystal at 10 K. The scintillation light yield of NaLa(MMoO4)(2) crystal reached the maximum at 10 K and was 70% of Li2MoO4 crystal. The shortest average decay time of 6.12 mu s was obtained at 250 K, which was further slowed down upon cooling of the crystal and the longest average decay time of 442.77 mu s was found to be at 10 K. Considering the possibility of crystal growth with large volume and high quality, the luminescence and scintillation properties of NaLa(MoO4)(2) crystal revealed that this scintillation material may be a promising candidate as a cryogenic detector for investigating the neutrinoless double beta decay (0 nu beta beta) search. | Chen, Zongyue; Khan, Arshad; Wang, Xi; Zhang, Jianyu; Pan, Shangke; Kim, Hongjoo; Pan, Jianguo | Ningbo Univ, Sch Mat Sci & Chem Engn, State Key Lab Base Novel Funct Mat & Preparat Sci, Ningbo 315211, Zhejiang, Peoples R China; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Dept Phys, Daegu 41566, South Korea; Key Lab Photoelect Mat & Devices Zhejiang Prov, Ningbo 315211, Zhejiang, Peoples R China | Zhang, Jianyu/I-3678-2016; Kim, Hong Joo/AAE-1178-2022; Khan, Arshad/ABB-1566-2021 | 57209395577; 56017063700; 57216765878; 57200030183; 7402713203; 59051568100; 55267628800 | panshangke@nbu.edu.cn;hongjoo@knu.ac.kr; | JOURNAL OF LUMINESCENCE | J LUMIN | 0022-2313 | 1872-7883 | 231 | SCIE | OPTICS | 2021 | 4.171 | 25.3 | 0.62 | 2025-07-30 | 9 | 9 | NaLa(MoO4)(2); Neutrinoless double beta decay; Vertical Bridgman method; Temperature-dependent luminescence; Scintillation | DOUBLE-BETA DECAY; ZNMOO4; DEPENDENCE; CAMOO4; BOLOMETER; TB3+ | NaLa(MoO4)2; Neutrinoless double beta decay; Scintillation; Temperature-dependent luminescence; Vertical Bridgman method | Calcium compounds; Crystal growth from melt; Lanthanum compounds; Light; Light transmission; Lithium compounds; Rare earths; Scintillation; Sodium compounds; Temperature distribution; Tungstate minerals; Uranium metallography; Vanadium metallography; Fundamental absorption edge; Low-temperature luminescence; Neutrinoless double-beta decays; Optical transmission spectrum; Powder X ray diffraction; Scintillation light yield; Scintillation properties; Spontaneous crystallization; Molybdenum compounds | English | 2021 | 2021-03 | 10.1016/j.jlumin.2020.117780 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | ||

The emission cross section for 4F3/2 -> 4I11/2 transition of Nd3+ ions, measured to be 11.2 x 10-20 cm2 in the case of oxide and 13.10 x 10-20 cm2 in the case of oxyfluoride glass. Similarly, the calculated and measured branching ratio for oxide glass are 54% and 51% respectively, and for oxyfluoride glass the calculated and measured branching ratios are 53% and 55% respectively. From the FTIR spectra it is noted that the bands correspond to the OH group show low transmittance intensity in oxyfluoride glass than oxide glass which is an evident of low OH contents oxyfluoride glass. In conclusion, from the results of present study reveal that the oxyfluoride glasses reported in present work can be a possible material for laser applications. | Shoaib, M.; Rooh, G.; Chanthima, N.; Sareein, T.; Kim, H. | ○ | ○ | Article | Propranolol modulation of tetrodotoxin-resistant Na plus channels in dural afferent neurons | Propranolol, a representative adrenergic 8-receptor antagonist, is widely used to prevent migraine attacks. Although propranolol is well known to inhibit tetrodotoxin-resistant (TTX-R) Na+ channels in cardiac myocytes, it is unclear whether the drug modulates these channels expressed in dural afferent neurons. In this study, we examined the effects of propranolol on TTX-R Na+ channels in medium-sized dural afferent neurons identified by the fluorescent dye DiI. The TTX-R Na+ currents (INa) were recorded from acutely isolated DiI-positive neurons using a whole-cell patch clamp technique under voltage-clamp conditions. Propranolol inhibited the noninactivating steady-state component more potently than the peak component of transient TTX-R INa. Propranolol also potently inhibited the slow voltage ramp-induced TTX-R INa in a concentration-dependent manner, suggesting that it preferentially inhibited the noninactivating or persistent INa in DiI-positive neurons. Propranolol had little effect on voltage dependence, but it increased the extent of the use-dependent inhibition of TTX-R Na+ channels. Propranolol also accelerated the onset of inactivation and retarded recovery from inactivation in these channels. Under current-clamp conditions, propranolol decreased the number of action potentials elicited by depolarizing current stimuli. In conclusion, the propranolol-mediated preferential inhibition of persistent INa and modulation of the inactivation kinetics of TTX-R Na+ channels might represent additional mechanisms for migraine prophylaxis. | Nakamura, Michiko; Jang, Il-Sung | Kyungpook Natl Univ, Sch Dent, Dept Pharmacol, 2177 Dalgubeol Daero, Daegu 41940, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Brain Sci & Engn Inst, Daegu 41940, South Korea | 36051866000; 7102177910 | jis7619@knu.ac.kr; | EUROPEAN JOURNAL OF PHARMACOLOGY | EUR J PHARMACOL | 0014-2999 | 1879-0712 | 910 | SCIE | PHARMACOLOGY & PHARMACY | 2021 | 5.195 | 25.3 | 0.56 | 2025-07-30 | 7 | 7 | Migraine; Propranolol; Persistent sodium current; Dural afferent neurons; TTX-R Na+ channels | PERSISTENT SODIUM CURRENT; ELECTROPHYSIOLOGICAL PROPERTIES; MIGRAINE; RAT; SENSITIZATION; EXCITABILITY; PACEMAKING; MECHANISMS; GENERATION; PREVENTION | Dural afferent neurons; Migraine; Persistent sodium current; Propranolol; TTX-R Na+ channels | Animals; Electric Conductivity; Fluorescent Dyes; Ion Channel Gating; Male; Migraine Disorders; Neurons; Neurons, Afferent; Patch-Clamp Techniques; Propranolol; Rats, Sprague-Dawley; Sodium Channel Blockers; Sodium Channels; Tetrodotoxin; propranolol; sodium channel; tetrodotoxin; fluorescent dye; propranolol; sodium channel; sodium channel blocking agent; tetrodotoxin; action potential; animal cell; animal experiment; animal tissue; Article; concentration response; conductance; controlled study; drug effect; drug potency; IC50; inactivation kinetics; kinetics; nerve cell excitability; nonhuman; rat; sensory nerve cell; sodium current; voltage clamp technique; whole cell patch clamp; animal; channel gating; electric conductivity; male; metabolism; migraine; nerve cell; patch clamp technique; sensory nerve cell; Sprague Dawley rat | English | 2021 | 2021-11-05 | 10.1016/j.ejphar.2021.174449 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | |||

| ○ | ○ | Article | Erythorbyl laurate suppresses TNF-α-induced adhesion of monocytes to the vascular endothelium | Erythorbyl laurate (EL) can be produced via lipase-catalyzed esterification between erythorbic acid and lauric acid. In this study, we evaluate the anti-inflammatory effect of EL in the early stage of atherosclerosis. EL suppressed tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-?-induced monocyte adhesion to vascular endothelial cells and expression of vascular cell adhesion molecule (VCAM)-1 in human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs). Additionally, EL suppressed TNF-?-induced p65/I?B kinase (IKK)/I?B phosphorylation in HUVECs. Western blot analysis of cytosolic and nuclear cell fractions and immunofluorescence showed that EL suppressed TNF?-induced translocation of p65 from the cytoplasm to the nucleus. EL also inhibited phosphorylation of extracellular-signal-regulated kinase (ERK) 1/2, p38, and c-Jun N-terminal kinases (JNK) 1/2 in HUVECs. EL suppressed TNF-?-induced phosphorylation of Akt, IRAK1, and TAK1 in HUVECs. Quantitative RT-PCR analysis showed that EL significantly suppressed TNF-?-induced interleukin (IL)1B, IL6, TNFA, and CCL2 mRNA expression in HUVECs. Additionally, oral administration of EL suppressed TNF-?-induced IL6 and TNFA expression in the mouse aorta. EL could represent a promising functional nutrient that can be ingested for the prevention of vascular inflammation via decreased monocyte infiltration to the vascular endothelium and suppression of inflammatory nuclear factor (NF)-?B and mitogen-activated protein kinases (MAPKs) signaling pathways. | Ha, Su Jeong; Kim, Min Jeong; Park, Joon; Choi, Hyun-Wook; Yu, Hyunjong; Chang, Pahn-Shick; Jung, Sung Keun | Seoul Natl Univ, Dept Agr Biotechnol, Seoul 08826, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Sch Food Sci & Biotechnol, Daegu 41566, South Korea; Kyungpook Natl Univ, Inst Agr Sci & Technol, Daegu 41566, South Korea; Korea Food Res Inst, Div Food Funct, 245 Nongsaengmyeong Ro, Wanju Gun 55365, Jeollabuk Do, South Korea; Korea Univ Sci & Technol, Dept Food Biotechnol, 217 Gajeong Ro, Daejeon 34113, South Korea; Jeonju Univ, Dept Funct Food & Biotechnol, Jeonju 55069, South Korea; Seoul Natl Univ, Ctr Agr Microorganism & Enzyme, Seoul 08826, South Korea; Seoul Natl Univ, Res Inst Agr & Life Sci, Seoul 08826, South Korea; Seoul Natl Univ, Ctr Food & Bioconvergence, Seoul 08826, South Korea | Jung, SUNG KEUN/AGR-2623-2022; Yu, Hyunjong/ABC-7027-2021 | 56338753000; 57215818497; 57197793272; 14017624100; 57200224176; 35749476600; 35310491400 | skjung04@knu.ac.kr;pschang@snu.ac.kr; | JOURNAL OF FUNCTIONAL FOODS | J FUNCT FOODS | 1756-4646 | 2214-9414 | 80 | SCIE | FOOD SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY;NUTRITION & DIETETICS | 2021 | 5.223 | 25.4 | 0.35 | 2025-07-30 | 5 | 4 | Erythorbyl laurate; Arteriosclerosis; Monocyte adhesion; Vascular inflammation; VCAM-1; NF-?B | KAPPA-B; IN-VIVO; ATHEROSCLEROSIS; INFLAMMATION; INHIBITION; ACTIVATION; EXPRESSION; CYTOKINES; DISEASE; MAPK | Arteriosclerosis; Erythorbyl laurate; Monocyte adhesion; NF-κB; Vascular inflammation; VCAM-1 | English | 2021 | 2021-05 | 10.1016/j.jff.2021.104428 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | 바로가기 | |||
